Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr saketos always made time to speak to us, with caring and with love. She made everything easy to understand, did not limit the time we had with her and was exceptionally responsive. She knew our names and any time we were in the clinic and she was available she ALWAYS said hello...made sure we were comfortable with every decision we made - big or small...
Everyone at NYU reproductive specialists was phenomenal. So organized even though they were always slammed with patients...The staff here are amazing and so passionate about what they do, they learned our names by heart!...(understandably) shorter staffed on weekends which makes it harder for working women sometimes. They squeezed us in when we asked but it would be great to expand the weekend staff!

Maria Saketos was EXCEPTIONAL in every way. She went above and beyond or us and was extremely informative, kind, patient, and knowledgeable! She made sure we were comfortable with every decision we made - big or small. She was everything I could have ever asked for in a doctor.

Everyone at NYU reproductive specialists was phenomenal. So organized even though they were always slammed with patients and knew every single patient. It was the absolute best care experience I’ve ever had in my life. I’ll be going back for sure for our next one!
Describe your experience with NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
They are large, efficient, and organized. At first it felt a bit overwhelming but I realized the benefits very quickly. The staff here are amazing and so passionate about what they do, they learned our names by heart! It was an absolutely beautiful experience in every single way! Biggest weakness is that they are (understandably) shorter staffed on weekends which makes it harder for working women sometimes. They squeezed us in when we asked but it would be great to expand the weekend staff!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Maria Saketos at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Paid $6000 total out of pocket between medication and all procedures/visits. This includes a polyp removal that occurred before the start of IVF
Describe Maria Saketos's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Dr. Saketos would ONLY do a single embryo transfer for us.

She [Dr. Kuokkanen] really took the time to look at my individual case and history and suggested ideas and plans that would be good for me...She is very knowledgeable and helps you to understand the process and each step as well. She thinks of ideas “outside the box” that are good for the individual and not necessarily what might the generic way...I always felt comfortable asking any questions or bringing up any concerns and she was always quick to respond...
The office [NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York] can be busy but everyone does their best to help move it along and make each patient feel welcomed and comfortable. You’re doctor or nurse might not always be there when you are there but the staff are all great and willing to help if you need anything...All the nurses were excellent and really make you feel supportive along the way. They really want you to be successful and we’re always there to help…no matter how small or big the question or problem!

During my 1.5 years of visiting the Mineola office, Dr. Kuokkanen is very skilled at what she does. I value and respect her professional opinion and deeply appreciate your patience, kindness, support, and understanding. She always made time to communicate every step along the way with me. I was never left out in the dark about anything. She kept me well informed and is a very responsible doctor.
[NYU Lagone Reproductive Specialists of New York] Clinic's strength: Every single team member at the Mineola office is amazing. They always have a smile in their face and greeted me with a warm smile when I walk into the office. I've never been to a doctor office with such friendly staffs making me feel very comfortable. Their thorough and detailed cautious preventions in the office during the coronavirus pandemic have let me feel safe every time I come to the office.

Dr. Kuokkanen is an amazing doctor. She is very patient, kind, caring, and understanding. She takes her time to speak with me and never rushed me out of her office or on the phone. Dr. Kuokkanen is exceptional with her knowledge, skills, and always cares about her patients. I've seen other doctors in the office when Dr. Kuokkanen was out of the office and I would definitely choose Dr. Kuokkanen in a heartbeat. Dr. Kuokkanen is by far the most exceptional doctor I've met in my life. An amazing doctor like Dr. Kuokkanen is hard to find, difficult to part with, and impossible to forget.

I've went through 4 IUI cycles and 1 IVF cycle. Each time an IUI cycle fails, Dr. Kuokkanen would think of other ways to help me conceive, such as by changing the medication and dosage. Although none of the IUI cycle was successful, Dr. Kuokkanen did not drag me on to continue to do more of the IUI cycle. Instead, she proposed the IVF idea, which I have successfully conceived on the first transfer and is almost 10 weeks pregnant!
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
I want to thank the entire nursing staff for providing me with exceptional care throughout my 1.5 years of coming to this office. Their warm smiles and friendly greetings always made me feel welcomed especially when they already knew me by my name when walking by as I sit in the waiting room waiting to be called. It was always pleasant to come to this office without feeling embarrassed about my fertility issue and at the same time feeling hopeful. I deeply appreciate their love, hard work, compassion, and support, especially during this pandemic. Their thorough and detailed cautious preventions have let me feel safe every time I come to the office. Nurse Veronica E. is an amazing nurse. She always have the most cheerful smile with her bubbly personality which is infectious. It was always great to see her in the office.

I did one cycle of IUI [with Dr. Maria Saketos] and then an egg retrieval with genetic testing which yielded three good embryos and two mosaics. Each transfer failed. After first failed transfer had months of delay due to a test she encouraged me to take a ERA test and it was one thing after another with it that caused a big delay...I felt with each failure I had she had less interest in me. After my third failed embryo transfer (which was my last embryo) she never even called me to discuss next steps. It was almost impossible to see her and when I did she had no memory of my treatment
There are many nurses you will deal with during your time there [NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York] and some are fantastic. Overall they are all good. My only complaint is that I feel the office could be run more efficiently sometimes when they are chatting...The clinic feels like a factory - there are so many women and it takes so long to get through each appointment. I have waited up until 1.5 hours just for a monitoring appointment. They have too many patients and not enough staff.
How was your experience with Maria Saketos at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Saketos is impossible to get in touch with. I got a message of concerning test results and it took days to get in touch with her. With every failed step she would say things like "I don't know why it isn't working" and literally put her hands up in the air. When she spoke I felt like she was not confident - she would say things like "I've never seen this before" and nervously giggle. Another issue is the few times I actually saw her she had no memory of my history and I would have to remind her of things that had occurred.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Maria Saketos at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Don't go to her

I think Dr Kuokkanen has great experience and is very well informed but I don't think her communication style was the best match for me. Many times she explained things in medical terms and it was hard for me to follow along or fully understand. She was on vacation while I started my IVF treatment and felt that I was left on my own. When my body was not reacting as expected to the injections she or any of the other doctors did not change my treatment in any way. The thing that most bother me was that after having 0 embryos from my first IVF treatment, I felt that she was very negative about my chances for future IVF treatment.
The clinic [NYU Langone] itself felt very unorganized and there was a lack of communication. I felt like a number more than a human. The finance department was hard to get a hold of and many times didn't return my calls. I also didn't like that to do IVF I had to have a consultation with the doctor, then a consultation with the nurse practitioner and then a class to show you how to do the injections. For each of those 3 appointments I had to pay a copay. It really felt like that could have been all in 1 appointment or 2 at the most. Not only did it feel like I was being nickel and dimed but also like they didn't value my time.

Ask her to explain things in clearer detail. However, I would not see Dr Kuokkanen while she is practicing at RS of NY.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Satu Kuokkanen at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
The clinic really lacks in communication. I was frequently not given the proper information in the right way or at the right time. I also did not like that they have so many nurses and any of them will call you with your results from that day. I think it would be easier to only speak with 1 or 2 nurses that actually know your case especially since it is so hard to speak to the doctor. During my IVF my body was not responding to the injections and I was only seeing 2 eggs. Dr Kuokkanen was on vacation and I kept being told that one of the other doctors would call me to discuss but day after day I never actually spoke to another doctor. The nurses would just call me and say they wanted me to continue with my current dosage. When Dr Kuokkanen finally returned to the office from her vacation I was on day 11 of injections and she still did not call me to discuss my situation even though I tried calling to speak with her multiple times and was promised she would call me. I also felt that I had to do a lot of the leg work communicating between the finance department and my insurance. I spent hours back and forth on the phone or email.
Describe the protocols Satu Kuokkanen used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
1st IUI cycle I took Chlomophine, 2 pills a day for 5 days. Uterine lining was thin so I took estrogen twice a day vaginally until the IUI transfer and then I continued to take estrogen twice a day orally. This cycle resulted in a chemical pregnancy. 2nd IUI cycle I took Letrozole, 2 pills a day for 5 days. Uterine lining was thin so I took estrogen twice a day vaginally until the IUI transfer and then I continued to take estrogen twice a day orally. I had an IUI transfer on Sunday and was given a trigger shot and then came back the next day for another IUI transfer because my follicles had stopped growing and my bloodwork was borderline surging. One week after IUI transfer I was prescribed progesterone suppositories to be inserted twice a day because my levels were low. My pregnancy test was negative and I was told I possibly didn't ovulate. 3rd IUI cycle I did a natural cycle because the sonogram on day 3 was showing a cyst or follicle. I was told to take estrogen from the beginning of the cycle and progesterone after IUI transfer. This cycle resulted in a chemical pregnancy. IVF cycle- took 300 units of Gonal-F & 225 IU of Menopur starting 2/14 and did my trigger shot the night of 2/26. Had 4 eggs retrieved on 2/28. Only 2 eggs fertilized and none became embryos.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
The nurses overall are very nice and caring but I think they are overworked which causes a breakdown in communication. I think it would be better if I had been assigned to only 1 or 2 nurses.

Not only did it feel like I was being nickel and dimed but also like they didn't value my time. The appointment wait times were also fairly long. What you would think would be fast monitoring appointments often took far too long and involved a lot of waiting around. Having to come to the doctors most times on a daily basis for monitoring before work is already hard enough but then to sit around waiting for so long is beyond frustrating. It just always felt like they didn't value my time or life outside of the office.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
There was a lot of miscommunication. Especially concerning was I had discussed my protocol with the Dr for IVF and then when I went in for monitoring many days later, the nurses had not been informed of the changes to my protocol. When I had a biopsy done I had to call the nurses multiple times to get my results that were past due. It seemed like they kept forgetting to follow up with the lab. Once they finally got the results they didn't pass them to the doctor to review until I called again asking about them. Another issue I had was during my first IUI cycle I was told my pap was out dated and I said I really didn't have much time to see my obgyn and they just said ok. Then it was brought up again by another nurse and I told her the same thing and she said ok. Then after my IUI transfer another nurse finally told me that I would need to get an updated pap in order to continue treatment if I am not pregnant and that it was clinic policy. That was completely understandable so I called my obgyn and made an appointment but the next available appointment wasn't for a couple of weeks. After I took my pregnancy test and had a chemical pregnancy a nurse Barbara called me and asked about my pap. I told her the date of the appointment and she very aggressively told me that I would not be allowed to start another treatment this cycle because of the pap. I was already devastated by the chemical pregnancy and then to hear I couldn't continue treatment was awful. Barbara's manner of handling the situation was very inappropriate and I was literally sobbing at work. I then asked to have Dr Koukkanen call me and when she did she said Barbara was out of line and that since I have the pap scheduled I can start another round of treatment. I never felt comfortable working with Barbara again.

I lost my ovaries due to cancer so I only had limited chances on becoming pregnant with IVF. I’m 34 now and froze my eggs when I was 22. From day 1 Dr. DeVore was determined to figure out a game plan for success. We did one cycle with a transfer and it didn’t implant. Before doing a second cycle we did a mock cycle to test the uterus to see if my past endometriosis issues were the cause or if the timing was off and we needed to transfer at a different time. We discovered the latter was true and went forward with a plan to transfer a day later and increased some of the medicine. We had one embryo left and thawed the rest of my eggs and created fresh embryos.
Strength [of NYU] - Doctors of varying experience to consult with to ensure the right protocol...Weakness - popular center of excellence so it’s a busy wait room...Notes: be detailed and thorough when taking notes and reviewing your treatment cycle...Dr. DeVore is thorough, considerate, patient, and willing to think outside the box which is exactly what you want during IVF...I lost my ovaries due to cancer so I only had limited chances on becoming pregnant with IVF. I’m 34 now and froze my eggs when I was 22.

We discovered the latter was true and went forward with a plan to transfer a day later and increased some of the medicine. We had one embryo left and thawed the rest of my eggs and created fresh embryos. Unfortunately only one embryo from this group looked viable for biopsy, and two embryos appeared to be weak in the Petrie dish and wouldn’t make it to biopsy. Instead of the waiting to see if these embryos would make it to biopsy stage (which was VERY unlikely and basically have them wasted) Dr. DeVore made the now-brilliant decision to transfer both embryos in hopes they might do better in my uterus compared to the Petrie dish- if we hadn’t done this, these embryos were likely to die, but by a miracle chance one of the embryos worked!! I am now 3-months pregnant, and never thought I’d be fortunate enough to see this day come. I can’t convey strongly enough that this is the doctor you should try. You want someone who is going to think about your situation when you leave the office and this is the doctor who will do that.

[Dr. Fritz] always took the time to answer all of our questions and ensure we were completely aware of every part of our treatments and all of our treatment options. He always made himself available for questions by email or by phone. We never felt rushed or left a consult or conversation without a full understanding of what the next steps were in our treatment.
The nursing staff [at NYU Langone] was excellent...they were compassionate and although the clinic seemed busy at times, I never felt rushed. They always took their times to answer my questions and walked me through my treatment...Their monitoring hours begin at 6:30AM, so it was never a problem for me to get to work on time during my treatment cycles.
How was your experience with Rani Fritz at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Fritz is an excellent doctor and came highly recommended from a friend. He always took the time to answer all of our questions and ensure we were completely aware of every part of our treatments and all of our treatment options. He always made himself available for questions by email or by phone. We never felt rushed or left a consult or conversation without a full understanding of what the next steps were in our treatment. The fertility process was very stressful and there is a lot of uncertainty, but his warmth, detail oriented, and compassionate nature made us feel very comfortable and confident under his care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rani Fritz at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
You are in excellent hands. Do not hesitate to ask questions, even if they seem simple. He will always take his time to ensure you have a full understanding of the treatment and will never rush you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rani Fritz at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Fritz came highly recommended from a friend. From his initial consultation, my husband and I immediately felt comfortable with the care we received. He always made an effort to contact us personally with important test results and treatment updates during our cycles. He has excellent bedside manner and was very compassionate during our care/treatment. We always had the feeling that he and his team were truly invested in our treatment and wanted the best outcomes for us.
Describe the protocols Rani Fritz used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
After an extensive workup, were diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We underwent two cycles of clomid/IUI, which did not work and then we decided to proceed with IVF. We decided to do genetic testing on the embryos and transferred one healthy embryo in an artificial frozen embryo transfer cycle. The doses we used in our IVF cycle were 150 units of Gonal F and 150 units of Menopur with Cetrotide added in the middle of the cycle. The oocyte retrieval went smoothly and the recovery was quick. We retrieved 15 eggs and eventually generated 5 embryos with 4 of them being genetically normal. Our frozen embryo cycle was with oral estrogen 2 times per day and intramuscular injections of progesterone.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
The nursing staff was excellent. I primarily communicated with 3 or 4 nurses. They were compassionate and although the clinic seemed busy at times, I never felt rushed. They always took their times to answer my questions and walked me through my treatment.
Describe your experience with NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
The strengths are the doctors, nursing staff, and ultimately the results. The weaknesses are that it can be very busy at times with waits during morning monitoring, however, overall well run considering their volume. Their monitoring hours begin at 6:30AM, so it was never a problem for me to get to work on time during my treatment cycles.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Rani Fritz at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
My costs were covered by my insurance with the exception of the genetic testing on the embryos (~$4,500).
Describe Rani Fritz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Dr. Fritz stated that due to the fact that we were genetically testing our embryos and given our age, it was recommended to transfer one embryo.

Dr Fritz’s extensive knowledge in the field, skill, and work ethic make him a wonderful Reproductive Endocrinologist, but his bedside manner separates him from the rest! I never felt rushed during visits and I was fully heard. He took my suggestions I gathered from research and online support groups into consideration when planning my cycles. He was open to a balanced fertility approach, combining western and eastern medicine for the best possible results. He responded to my emails in a timely fashion and often picked up the phone to call me in lieu of emailing me back. He was attentive, thorough, informative, and professional.
The [NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of NY] clinic is managed well and efficient. Clean facility that adhered to Covid protocols. Early morning hours very convenient for bloodwork and didn’t interfere with my work schedule. I barely ever waited more than 10 min in the waiting room before my scheduled appointments...I had to be vigilant when it came to Patient Portal messages as I found a discrepancy once or twice in terms of specific directives relayed to me through the portal system. Had to ask several times about bloodwork results that was ordered but not released to me

Compassionate and caring. I had to be vigilant when it came to Patient Portal messages as I found a discrepancy once or twice in terms of specific directives relayed to me through the portal system. Describe Rani Fritz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Dr Fritz recommended I transfer one instead of both of my mosaics. His rationale was that sometimes if one embryo fails to implant, it may negatively impact the other.

My doctor [Dr. Fritz] didn't have a strong number preference but he did advised no more than 2 embryos, because of the chances of multiples...I felt like a human and not a number by his bedside manner. He was thorough and walked me through every step. If I had any questions or concerns they were always addressed in a timely manner...
The nursing staff [at NYU Langone] was excellent, they always accommodated my work schedule even when there was no available times...The clinic is very organized and clean. I've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to be seen or to have labs done. I honestly can't find a weakness I've been accommodated well at this clinic...I went in for monitoring at my convenience during monitoring times. if something wasn't available I was advise to call and if they can take me early they will.
How was your experience with Rani Fritz at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
My experience with Dr. Fritz was superb. He's the third RE I've seen trying to conceive, he was the warmest yet still to the point and made me feel like I was in good hands. I was schedule for a fresh transfer but due to high hormone levels Dr. Fritz suggested it wasn't the best idea to transfer but if I wanted to he will. He explained that I would have better pregnancy results with a frozen transfer. I took his advice and I'm now pregnant.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rani Fritz at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
I would say you're in good and trustworthy hands.

Describe the protocols Rani Fritz used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
I don't remember the full strategy and doses but some of the drugs used in my cycle were GONAL-F, Menopur, Progesterone in oil, Estrogen patches, Cetrotide, and HCG. One treatment strategy was with my high hormone levels when the doctor suggested better results will come from a frozen transfer than a fresh transfer because of the high hormone levels. A positive pregnancy was the result of using this rationale.
Describe your experience with your nurse at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
The nursing staff was excellent, they always accommodated my work schedule even when there was no available times. Everyone was courteous and greeted you pleasantly by your name.

He was kind, straight to the point and had a plan that was effective. He was a great communicator and was experienced. He quickly figured out the best routine for my body and what meds worked best. He took all phone calls and emails from my husband when I couldn’t communicate accurately what all the meds did and why we were using them. He was extremely helpful. He performed my second embryo transfer which resulted in pregnancy.

Adjusted my progesterone to meet standards. Slow weening of progesterone after positive pregnancy test and slow weening of estrogen patch. Prescribed me the viagra I needed to increase my uterin lining to be ready for transfer. Switched my estrogen pills to the patch because of the nausea from the pills.

From the moment we met Dr. Fritz, we felt very comfortable. He explained all our treatments in detail. I never felt rushed or pushed. He always answered his emailed and when needed, would check in by phone to discuss the progress of our treatment. I can recall there was one time when he was on vacation, but we had what we thought was an important question. He called us back despite being on vacation and helped put us at ease. We are very grateful to have found Dr. Fritz to help us grow our family.
After 2 failed cycles and 1 miscarriage, we reconsulted and decided to begin IVF with genetic testing [at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York]...We retrieved 18 eggs, 10 embryos, which resulted in 7 genetically normal embryos. We did a frozen embryo transfer cycle and transferred one embryo. Current, we are pregnant!...The nursing staff were excellent and efficient. They got to know me well after being a patient for many months. Many times they were a breath of fresh air during this stressful time.

From our first meeting with Dr. Fritz, he was kind, patient and made sure to explain and answer everything in detail. He also spent the time to answer all of our questions. He always discussed all treatment options with us and I never felt pushed and when I asked for his advice, he was very forthcoming and honest. He was always available and responded to emails quickly. At my previous clinic, I felt that I could never reach my doctor and that is one of the major reasons why I switched clinics.

After an extensive work up, we fell into the unexplained fertility category. Dr. Fritz recommended trying IUI with Femera. After 2 failed cycles and 1 miscarriage, we reconsulted and decided to begin IVF with genetic testing. For our IVF cycle, we used Gonal F 150 units and Menopur 150 units and Cetrotide. We saw Dr. Goudas for our consultation, after that we saw him I believe 1 other time. Different Dr.s are in the office in different days so it's hard to see the Dr when everything is time sensitive. That aspect I wasn't happy about bc each Dr wasn't always fully aware of what the other Dr. had said last appointment....We did 1 month of timed intercourse as they followed my cycle. They followed my cycle from day 3, and then followed up with blood tests and vaginal ultrasounds until ovulation was confirmed
The nursing staff [at NYU Langone Repro Specialists] were the heart of this practice. They spent more time with me answering my questions then anyone else. They were very patient and understanding. They offered outside help when needed.... This office is small and Abit out if date looking. The dr.s offices are bare since they are shared with multiple Dr.s. The Soni rooms are very clean, along with where they draw your blood. Overall it's a clean office that has what you need for quick visits.
How was your experience with Vasilios Goudas at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
We saw Dr. Goudas for our consultation, after that we saw him I believe 1 other time. Different Dr.s are in the office in different days so it's hard to see the Dr when everything is time sensitive. That aspect I wasn't happy about bc each Dr wasn't always fully aware of what the other Dr. had said last appointment. The administration side of this office is a bit of a problem. Getting someone on the phone to make an appointment could take an hour. I spoke with billing extensively, and yet was still given the wrong info about insurance and ended up with a big bill. The nurses there are amazing, they took their time and answered every question about every Sono and anything else. They really went above and beyond. I did like the Dr.s in the group that we saw, all of them did take time to go over things. But they need to communicate more since the same Dr.s are not always in the office.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vasilios Goudas at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Be prepared to meet with every Dr in the office! And to possibly wait a bit to get a receptionist on the phone
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Vasilios Goudas at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Each appointment the Dr in the office would sit down with us and explain blood work results, what is the next steps etc. The office would call with results or email if they didn't get in touch with us. Appointments were always easy to come by.
Describe the protocols Vasilios Goudas used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
We did 1 month of timed intercourse as they followed my cycle. They followed my cycle from day 3, and then followed up with blood tests and vaginal ultrasounds until ovulation was confirmed with a blood test. The following month we start with Clomid, starting with a day 3 blood test, then vaginal ultrasound to check where I was in my cycle along with more blood work. Next it was vaginal ultrasounds and blood work every other day for almost 2 weeks. Once I had high on on ovulation test, it was intercourse every other day, while still having the blood work and ultrasound. Once I had a peak ovulation test, a blood test was done to confirm, a long with a trigger shot. After that we waited 2 weeks to have a pregnancy blood test. I had start spotting 2 days prior so we were not expecting a positive test. The office called a few hours later that day to confirm it was negitive. The Dr recommend we do another round of the Clomid but bc of not knowing if I blockage in my tubes, we didn't think moving forward was the best idea since insurance would not cover anything and IVF seem like our best and likely option.

I spoke with the financial coordinator for a month to know what my insurance would and would not cover. The person I spoke with was very confident in saying all procedures are covered and a certain amount was allocated towards IVF. After a month of tracking my cycle and another month of a Clomid cycle, I received a call they my insurance actually will not be covering anything and we now have a large bill to pay

Dr. Trivax always knew us by name and was kind and respectful...was always thorough, focused, confident, kind, and I feel he wants me to pregnant as much or more than I do! He’s got our best interest as a priority. He is really smart and does a great job explaining his decisions and rationale...In my current cycle, Dr. Trivax has me on baby aspirin, prednisone, antibiotics, and estrogen and progesterone. He also is performing an endometrial scratch. The purpose behind these decisions is to increase blood flow to the uterus, eliminate inflammation of uterus wall, address possible autoimmune tendencies that could exist, and to create a space in the uterus wall where an embryo would be attracted to for easier implantation.
RSNY was facing an overhaul and things seemed to be different when I approached them to receive my paperwork and to move my embryos from there to Island Fertility. It may have been the negative pregnancy test that skewed my feelings towards the practice...$25,000 approx for ivf freeze all and one frozen embryo transfer, includIng medication...had some administrative issues and overall went down hill as my cycle progressed. After my failed pregnancy test and long hiatus, I switched to Island Fertility and am much happier there. Island Fertility is a brand new facility and the care and attention you receive there is leaps and bounds beyond RSNY.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Don’t get blindsided by good statistics. Know that nothing is guaranteed, no matter what the odds are telling you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Trivax always knew us by name and was kind and respectful.
Describe the protocols Bradley Trivax used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
In my current cycle, Dr.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
RSNY nursing staff was mostly good. However the staff at Dr. Trivaxs new practice, Island Fertility, is excellent. This is where my current cycle is being held.
Describe your experience with NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
RSNY had some administrative issues and overall went down hill as my cycle progressed. After my failed pregnancy test and long hiatus, I switched to Island Fertility and am much happier there. Island Fertility is a brand new facility and the care and attention you receive there is leaps and bounds beyond RSNY.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
$25,000 approx for ivf freeze all and one frozen embryo transfer, includIng medication

Describe the specific things that went wrong at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
RSNY was facing an overhaul and things seemed to be different when I approached them to receive my paperwork and to move my embryos from there to Island Fertility. It may have been the negative pregnancy test that skewed my feelings towards the practice, but I was happy to follow Dr. Trivax to his new facility and practice.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
I did feel a little rushed and overwhelmed during our initial consult, as it's a very busy clinic. But, Dr. Sakedos was very kind and open to listening to our questions and concerns. She laid out all of the possible treatment plans with great detail. She and her staff have been great at answering questions in a timely manner any time I've called.... We're still in the early stages of our infertility plan. Will be going in for our first IUI in a couple weeks. But so far Dr. Saketos has been very personable and great at explaining our options and worked with us to make a plan we're comfortable with.
Overall, I like this office [Reproductive Specialists of NY- Mineola] a lot. Clearly a lot of other people do too, because it is ALWAYS busy. Most appointments I've been to, I've waited 20-30 minuted past my appointment time to get called back, but once I was there for an hour and half before getting placed in an exam room.... They never called with my husbands initial SA results and had never sent him a link to set up a profile with their online portal, so we couldn't view it there. I called and it was all sorted out in a few minutes though.

The nursing staff at the Mineola office have all been great so far. They've all been compassionate and caring. And the phlebotomists are the quickest I've ever dealt with.

I loved Dr. Saketos! She has a terrific bedside manner: she is warm, patient, kind, honest, and took her time with us. She didn't treat me like an "easy case" just because I was young like my previous doctor did. She had a calm demeanor during my egg retrieval and transfers. She even called to congratulate me when I got pregnant with my twins...did not recommend a multiple embryo transfer, because we were young and had several frozen embryos in storage. We did a single embryo transfer first, but that failed, and I was insistent on a multiple embryo transfer the second time around. She warned us of the risks, which were valid, because I ended up having a high-risk twin pregnancy, but now we have two healthy babies!
Monitoring [at Reproductive Services of New York] was usually before work, which was convenient...My only criticisms are that the waiting time can be a bit long, which is tough when you have to be there so often for monitoring. Also, sometimes I felt like there was a lack of communication because multiple nurses would give me different information at various times throughout the day when I called with questions. I wish I could have talked to my doctor each time, but I know that's not always possible. I did have my favorite nurses, though, who were always wonderful.

Dr. Sung recommended one embryo being transferred since my chance of twins were so high. I requested two be transferred and after evaluating my health, she said it was fine. Currently 7wks with two!... I loved her demeanor and her optimism...No matter how busy they were, Dr. Sung always gave us the time that we needed. She was very upfront about every step of the process. Despite my pessimism, she was always upbeat and optimistic while also being realistic and explaining what may or may not happen.
They {Reproductive Specialists of New York] are very busy all the time. However, all of the employees are kind and helpful and many went out of their way to offer me support. The facility itself is fairly large and very comfortable. There was a lot of waiting involved for each visit because of the volume of patients, but I always felt well taken care of. Everyone there genuinely seems to care about your well being.
How was your experience with Linda Sung at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Sung has a cheery personality and lots of optimism. She was always upfront with everything and explained every step along the way. She always provided information to back up what she said. The nurses at Reproductive Specialists were sweet and kind. They seemed like they genuinely cared for every visit I was there. I was often anxious and they would always be positive and optimistic which made me feel a lot better. They never seem to get tired despite their long hours. I’m constantly impressed with them and their ability to keep a room full of worried women calm and relatively happy. It’s really a testament to these nurses that the facility runs so smoothly and efficiently.

He [Dr. James Stelling] likes to transfer 1 embryo for young patients, but we could convince him to do 2...I felt mostly like a number when I had appts with Dr. Stelling. I always felt like he rushed my appts and didn't really take the time to listen to my concerns... Dr. Stelling did not review our charts before the consult which was concerning to us. He made some jokes that a lot of people would find offensive such as "if your husband had sex with a 19 year old he would probably get her pregnant"
The nurses are absolutely amazing at this clinic [Reproductive Specialists of New York]! They treat you like you are a part of their family...Dr. Stelling has recently left the practice with another doctor to start their own clinic. Because of this, they have been very understaffed and I have to wait at least 45 mins for my appts. They did not notify any of his patients that he had left, which caused a lot of stress.
How was your experience with James Stelling at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Stelling talks veryyyyyy fast. It's hard to keep up. I was referred to him from my OBGYN who diagnosed us with male factor infertility. Dr. Stelling did not review our charts before the consult which was concerning to us. He made some jokes that a lot of people would find offensive such as "if your husband had sex with a 19 year old he would probably get her pregnant" He told us that he likes an aggressive approach because he wants to get his patients pregnant asap. He wanted us to do 3 IUIs before moving onto IVF when other doctors would want to do 4-5 IUIs.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Stelling at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?

Describe the protocols James Stelling used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
He wanted to do 3 medicated IUIs first. I ended up having a chemical pregnancy from my second IUI, so he wanted to "reset the clock" and do an additional 3 more IUIs. We did 2 more cycles which failed, so we told him we were ready to move on to IVF.

Dr. Trivax treated me like a human and not a number like so many other doctors do. He is caring and compassionate. He listens to all of my concerns and answers my many questions questions thoroughly...After 4 failed IUI cycles, and since our insurance covers IVF he recommended moving onto the next step (IVF). He gave us different scenarios and would say “if it was me this is what I would do” I was very emotional during the entire IVF process and he took the time to reassure and comfort me.
I have gone to the West Islip, Mineola and Stony Brook offices [of Reproductive Specialists of New York]. The nurses at the Stony Brook and West Islip office were absolutely amazing!! They get to know you by name and are really compassionate. I am never hesitant to ask them my 100 questions or ask them to go over my meds one more time. They make the negative beta test calls and they do them so well. They are always so positive even after multiple failed cycles. The Mineola nurses are very busy (Mineola is the main hub). I always felt rushed and the nurses didn’t always want to answer all of my questions.

For IVF he wanted to go with a low dose of stims to avoid overstimulation. He predicted I would make 20 eggs and he was right! I ended up with 14 mature eggs and did not overstimulate.

I think Dr. Trivax is a wonderful doctor. I think he really wants to help patients and make a difference. The clinic is big and there are a lot of patients that go, so I don’t always get to see him but when I do I feel like he is really on our side.... We first did IUI with femara. I am young and ovulate on my own as far as we know so he didn’t want to use any extreme medications so we started slow and as iui 1 didn’t work he adjusted my meds and went up with them.
This is a very busy clinic [Repro Specialists of Ny] with lots of patients, but they do a really good job at not making it feel that way. You only know that because the waiting rooms sometimes are pretty full. They use an electronic system now that updates your labs, appointments, and notes all online or on the app and it’s great that you can see all the stuff. I would always forget everything the doctor or sono tech or nurse would say with all the numbers and stuff and the app lets me see them myself.

I think Dr. Trivax is a wonderful doctor. I think he really wants to help patients and make a difference. The clinic is big and there are a lot of patients that go, so I don’t always get to see him but when I do I feel like he is really on our side. At our consult to decide what to do next he said we will do things at whatever pace we feel comfortable with is how we will proceed. A baby is the ultimate goal, not just being pregnant, but being a mother is what is important and I will do anything I have to do to do that, and Dr. Trivax said we will make that possible.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Understand that you may not see Dr. Trivax at every appointment, as he also works at another facility, but you will know what’s going on. At our first consult he gave me his email and said if I ever had a problem to email him.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
There are a lot of people that go to this clinic so it is hard to not feel like a number at some point just because this is so stressful and heartbreaking. However, Dr. Trivax tried to make you feel like you are important too.

We first did IUI with femara. I am young and ovulate on my own as far as we know so he didn’t want to use any extreme medications so we started slow and as iui 1 didn’t work he adjusted my meds and went up with them. We did Hcg triggers for each iui after using ovulation predictor kits before. Also blood work and sono was used to confirm ovulation and then we would trigger and come in for iui 36 hours after. The 4th iui we did my lining was not thickening so he adjusted and put me on estrogen supplements and my lining did thicken enough for our iui.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
They are very helpful and understanding of this process. They see a lot of these patients every day or every other day and these peoples’ very tough days and they try and make a connection with them.

Our first three IUIs were covered under a global fee of $995 which is some of the cheaper rates for IUI. We are self pay so everything (including meds) are out of pocket. The rate now is $1250 for the IUI. We went to another Dr to get a second opinion and an IUI was $2400! And I was so upset.

Dr. Bronson is extremely knowledgeable. As a patient, you are welcomed by the friendly staff of nurses, however the front desk at the clinic [Repro Specialists of NY] upset me. They fail to inform patients of their coverage. They are unorganized and at times careless. It is upsetting to have to deal with front desk receptionists who don't pay attention and disregard what you ask or say. This also pertains to their finance dept...The finance dept can be rude and lack to give information.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Richard Bronson at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
He has been in this profession for a long time but don't expect him to sit and listen to you for very long.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Richard Bronson at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Bronson is extremely knowledgeable. However, I do feel that at times he does in fact forget that his patients are individuals dealing with the struggles of infertility. It has been an emotional rollercoaster for my husband and I trying to get pregnant. Not only do couples like ourselves need to deal with infertility, but planning our finances around the costs for treatments like IUI, and IVF when an insurance provider refuses to cover for these treatments becomes upsetting, overwhelming, and stressful. Therefore, as a patient you hope to have a Dr who can be warm & understanding to these issues.
Describe the protocols Richard Bronson used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
He encouraged me to go for 3 IUI tries. I did 1 medicated cycle (Clomid 50mg) without IUI, and 2 medicated cycles (Clomid 100 mg) with IUI. Unfortunately they all resulted in BFN.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Lovely and pleasant group of nurses that are supportive and friendly.

Insurance does not cover therefore it has costed us $3,000 on iui and meds. Now we are saving up for ivf.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
The finance dept can be rude and lack to give information. Dr. Bronson has suggested I speak to finance in regards to getting on a list for an ivf grant since my insurance won't cover fertility treatments or drugs. I called finance to inquire, and the rep told me I had to wait another 6 months to get on a list, and if I had questions that I would need to call later to get answers from some other representative.

I liked Dr. Trivax but did feel he had a “one size fits most” approach. He did not adjust my protocol aggressively enough and I sought treatment elsewhere. I felt like I wasted cycles doing more or less the same protocol...It was another Dr at the practice who suggested the higher stims and said she was consulting with him [Dr. Trivax], but when I asked why he had decided to do that he said “we should’ve kept you at lower doses-that was a mistake”. That’s when I switched REs...was very down to earth. I felt that he saw me as a person and not a number...
Very knowledgeable and friendly nursing staff [at Reproductive Specialists of New York]...At my age they suggested 2-3 embryos be transferred as the case for multiples is very slim...Nurses and lab at RSONY are top notch. All of the dctors need a bit of a fine tuning when it comes to “out of the box” thinking it seems... What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Do your homework. Ask about trials, protocols you’ve read about working for your diagnosis. When I would bring things up he would say “we could try that” but it was never his idea.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York?
Dr. Trivax was very down to earth. I felt that he saw me as a person and not a number.
Describe the protocols Bradley Trivax used in your cycles at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York and their degree of success.
Natural IUI cycle to start. Failed Next-Clomid only IUI cycle. Failed. IVF cycle with high doses of stims-resulted in 1 egg and cycle cancellation. 2nd IVF cycle with less stims resulted in 2 embryos transferred. Did not implant. Failed. 3rd IVF cycle I was put back on the high doses of stims and made 1 egg so it was cancelled. It was another Dr at the practice who suggested the higher stims and said she was consulting with him, but when I asked why he had decided to do that he said “we should’ve kept you at lower doses-that was a mistake”. Describe your experience with NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Dr Trivax is no longer at this practice. He is with Stonybrook Medical Center. Nurses and lab at RSONY are top notch. All of the dctors need a bit of a fine tuning when it comes to “out of the box” thinking it seems. I had conversations with some people who had gone here and we all agreed they do not customize their approaches.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Bradley Trivax at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Covered by insurance but about $9,500/IVF cycle
Describe Bradley Trivax's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.

Linda Sung is an excellent reproductive endocrinologist. She fully explained all procedures and risks. She was delicately blunt with all results. She always had a plan and options no matter what our results were. She had a terrific bedside manner. We always felt comfortable with her...Our original diagnosis was unexplained fertility. We tried cycles just using blood test to detect ovulation, cycles using clomid without assistance, cycles using clomid with IUI, cycles using fertility injections with IUI, and cycles using fertility injections with IVF.
The clinic [Repro Specialists of NY has moved to a computerized record system within the last year. The positive is now there is an online patient portal which has all your information as long as they diligently input the info. The negative is that the clinic has lost some of its personal touch...There was some human errors with incorrectly scheduled office visits, missed prescriptions, conflicting info from the nurses. Every mishap was remedied in a timely manner even though I had to call emergency numbers on occassion

Our original diagnosis was unexplained fertility. We tried cycles just using blood test to detect ovulation, cycles using clomid without assistance, cycles using clomid with IUI, cycles using fertility injections with IUI, and cycles using fertility injections with IVF. We did a total of 12 IUI's and 3 IVF cycles. In the end it was determined, that I have poor egg quality.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
During your visits, you didn't always see a doctor but you always saw a nurse. You didn't see the same nurse each time. Usually you saw a different nurse every time. Overall the nurse staff was very nice and compassionate. However I flung the nursing staff didn't always communicate fully each step or what to expect. I learned to be my own advocate and ask multiple questions until I fully understood what was happening. The nurses were always patient and always answered each question but sometimes didn't offer information I expected unless I asked for it.

The clinic has moved to a computerized record system within the last year. The positive is now there is an online patient portal which has all your information as long as they diligently input the info. The negative is that the clinic has lost some of its personal touch. It's a large practice with 3 doctors and it wasn't the most intimate of offices but after using the computers, it lost that personal touch a little bit more.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Linda Sung at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
Unfortunately my insurance did not cover infertility treatment except for standard lab bloodwork. All procedures, cycles, monitoring, visits were out of pocket. IUI's cost me $995 each for low global monitoring and my IVF cycles averaged about $15,000 each. I believe costs have increased now.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at NYU Langone Reproductive Specialists of New York.
There was some human errors with incorrectly scheduled office visits, missed prescriptions, conflicting info from the nurses. Every mishap was remedied in a timely manner even though I had to call emergency numbers on occassion. But it is important to note that none of the errors ever effected my cycles or procedures.

I would describe Doctor Halfen as old fashion. He is very polite and tries to be warm, but he is so straight foward some times that the warm part gets lost. He helds his opinion and approach as the right one leaving no room for suggestions. After my third failed IUI, I was looking to try something different. I was in Femara in the second and third IUI and I wanted to try Clomid for my fourth and last IUI among other suggestions I brought up, but he did not agree and it was not done. My fourth IUI was also a failed attempt.
The three facilities [of Reproductive Specialists of NY] are very convenient. They are clean and well mantained. They have convenient appointment times and the staff is cordial. Depending what facility is closer to you, you might see different doctors every visit. I think this is a weakness. I would like to be constant and for my doctor to always be the one seeing my results.... I was in Femara 5mg daily for 5 days starting on day 3 of my mentrual period.

Dr Sung really took the time in our consultation appointments to talk with me and go over any concerns or questions I had. She seemed to have a more conservative approach but she was always very nice and caring...Dr Sung started me on chlomit for the first 8 or 9 cycles. One cycle I was switched to a different pill that was similar to chlomit but it was just to see if maybe my body responded to this brand better. After that we switched to injections. Gonal F, medipure & gonerellx. I did HCG injections for all 13 cycles of IUI.
The office [Reproductive Specialists of NY] switched over to this portal system. They are still working out the kinks. I wasn't given lab results and instructions a few times through the system. Also they changed the way you make appointments. You used to be able to call the front desk and make an appointment right away. Now the nurses make the appointments so you have to call and leave a message with the front desk for a nurse to call you back.

I have Aetna. They wouldn't cover the first 6 IUI cycles because I was using donor sperm. So I had to pay out of pocket the first 6 cycles. The doctors office had a Global payment plan they offered which was just about $1000.00 per cycle. It was helpful. After that, Aetna started to cover the IUI cycles so I only had the copayment. Aetna will not cover any IVF procedures or medications associated with IVF so that will be out of pocket for me. The doctors office does offer a plan to help but it's still very expensive. It will cost about 25k per cycle.

Twice I made appointments in the office abc because they switched over to the portal system the appointments were lost. But the staff did work on squeezing me in to accommodate the mistake. I had a biopsy done and the results should have been back in a week but when I called I couldn't get anyone to call me back with the results. On my next office visit one of the doctors gave me info on the biopsy that was not good. I called a few times to talk to dr Sung about it and finally a nurse called me back with different information.

Dr Sung really seems like she cares for her patients. She wants to see them succeed on their path and she takes the time to discuss it with you on consultation appointments. I think sometimes she is a little more conservative in her approach but overall I have been very happy with her as my doctor...The first 8 or 9 cycles I was given chlomit. Sometimes the dosages would increase to help produce more follicles. After that I was switched to a different pill but basically the same just to see if my body would react better to it. The last 3 times I did injections of gonal f, gonerellx and medipure. HCG injections I was given fir all cycles
