This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
From the very beginning, our initial Facetime, Dr. D[aneshmand] was warm and accessible and kind. He took the time to explain everything and in a way that made us feel comfortable, hopeful yet fully aware of all the trade offs and solutions along the way. He took the time to know both my partner and I...Professional, knowledgeable, ahead of the curve, compassionate, accessible and attentive and solutions-oriented. We never once felt confused or concerned under his wing. In fact, we felt so good knowing he was on our team. He is the absolute best.
Omg the staff at SDFC is out of this world. They knew who my husband and I were when we first walked in. The office was beautiful and warm. We had a room with our name on it reserved. Every person on our team took the time to come in and talk with us and we left with hugging with each one of them. They were truly invested in our journey and so knowledge and kind...The clinic is exactly what you would hope for. It's clean, upscale and the staff is warm, friendly and professional. We may with a number of people during our visits and every one of them were just wonderful. You truly can't ask for a better staff and better clinic.

I feel like she [Dr. Lila Schmidt] wasn’t very knowledgeable about how to do an egg retrieval...was going to do a fresh transfer with pgs testing. I’ve now done 2 egg retrievals and pgs testing takes 7-10 days, no way she could have done a fresh transfer with pgs testing. She also doesn’t use her own facility, so she has to completely base your egg retrieval around her ability to use that other lab...never went over follicle growth, when I looked my chart later, my follicles weren’t even close to big enough to do an iui.
Strengths [at San Diego Mommy Maker] - [Dr. Lila Schmidt] treats you like a person and not a stat or a number. Cons- she doesn’t know what she’s doing... did one iui...never went over follicle growth, when I looked my chart later, my follicles weren’t even close to big enough to do an iui...doesn’t use her own facility, so she has to completely base your egg retrieval around her ability to use that other lab... she wasn’t very knowledgeable about how to do an egg retrieval.

I feel like she wasn’t very knowledgeable about how to do an egg retrieval. Every clinic I went to afterwards did a completely different protocol, she also was going to do a fresh transfer with pgs testing. I’ve now done 2 egg retrievals and pgs testing takes 7-10 days, no way she could have done a fresh transfer with pgs testing.
She also doesn’t use her own facility, so she has to completely base your egg retrieval around her ability to use that other lab. Which, follicles don’t grow on labs schedule, they grow on their own timetable!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lila Schmidt at San Diego Mommy Maker (closed)?

She never went over follicle growth, when I looked my chart later, my follicles weren’t even close to big enough to do an iui.
She [Dr. Schmidt] and her staff work independently from a hospital, so you get a small personal feeling. Her equipment isn’t the state of the art, fancy stuff, but it gets the job done. She works really hard for you to get as much covered through insurance as possible too. She’s really just the best - she and her team!...We were dealing with male factor infertility. My prior RE refused to perform an IUI on me because I had 3 mature follicles. Dr Schmidt recognized that my husband’s sperm needed as many targets as possible, so she agreed and encouraged me to try - after explaining the risks of course.
[San Diego Mommy Maker is] not the newest, but I’m not swayed by flashiness or fancy stuff. It has everything a clinic needs, and the posters are hilarious. If you don’t have a sense of humor and you’re extremely fragile, maybe avoid this clinic. Being informed and a strong person helped me work well with the doctor...The staff is small! Everyone is like family! Love love love them!...Both iuis cost $3,000 excluding medications

She has a brusque personality, but I find that useful in an RE. She doesn’t sugar coat, but takes time to get to know your cycle. It helps if you understand and know about your body and cycles beforehand, though!

We were dealing with male factor infertility. My prior RE refused to perform an IUI on me because I had 3 mature follicles. Dr Schmidt recognized that my husband’s sperm needed as many targets as possible, so she agreed and encouraged me to try - after explaining the risks of course. We did 2 medicated cycles with clomid for 5 days, blood monitoring, a pregnyl shot to trigger, and 2 back to back IUIs. I think the second IUI was helpful. She was really great through both procedures

Dr Schmidt is an amazing doctor. She is caring and warm. She talks fast, which some may interpret as rushing you through, but it's just the way her mind works. She is happy to slow down and chat with you.... Dr Schmidt is straight forward and at the same time warm and sympathetic.... Small clinic; personal attention. Dr Schmidt will check up on you on you after hours and even give you her personal cell phone number.
