This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr. Jain is straightforward and realistic and does not over promise-all good things in this field of medicine...did not prohibit me from choosing the care plan I felt was best for me after educating me on options. I was told at a prior clinic that I would not be allowed to transfer an embryo (MY embryo that I paid for) unless I had a major surgery to remove a small fibroid. Dr. Jain went out of his way to consult a specialist (who did indeed advise me to remove the fibroid) but ultimately left the decision up to me. While so many clinics are focused on their statistics, I felt Dr. Jain and his team are personalizing my care.
After seeking treatment at a much larger scale fertility clinic in LA, I was drawn to the more human centered approach with Santa Monica Fertility...Unlike the prior fertility factory I visited where payment was fee for service, which I found very stressful, you purchase a package when visiting Santa Monica Fertility. I found this much less stressful. Cost of 1 complete cycle using my sister as an egg donor (minus legal fees which were about 1k and medicines which were $3500) was around 24k which includes one frozen embryo transfer. This is on par with my prior clinic's pricing. Of course, having my sister as our egg donor decreased costs significantly because we did not pay agency fees, though the psychological cost of having a family member involved is not insignificant!
How was your experience with John Jain (retired) at Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
I am still mid cycle due to COVID, though I am very confident that no matter what my final outcome, Dr. Jain has given my husband and me the best chance at becoming parents through the IVF route. My younger sister was my egg donor, and I was more concerned about her health through the process of retrieval than I would have been about my own--but I feel she received excellent care and that is a huge relief to us. He adjusted medication doses frequently to avoid over- stimulating her and conducted all of her surveillance ultrasounds personally--we had a statistically excellent result ratio of eggs retrieved to blasts created. My sister had a seamless experience and recovery despite completing treatment at the onset of an unprecedented worldwide health crisis. Dr. Jain is straightforward and realistic and does not over promise-all good things in this field of medicine.

Describe the protocols John Jain (retired) used in your cycles at Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My sister/egg donor was on OCPs for ovulation suppression for several weeks followed by gonal F, then Menopur and Ganirelix with Lupron trigger. She had 12 follicles aspirated, 10 eggs retrieved, 9 mature, 8 fertilized via ICSI and 5 grew to day 5 blast. (graded from very good-->fair). We did not do PGS testing for multiple reasons.
Describe your experience with Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic).
I prefer this clinic's smaller, more personal setting versus the fertility factory where I was previously treated. The embryologists (a crucial component to success) are excellent from anecdotal experience (N=1). Like any fertility clinic, the nurses and doctor are very busy--and you need to self educate, and for that I recommend Fertility IQ!

One incident of a missing medication on day of trigger, which was a Sunday. My nurse had been mixing/drawing and providing me meds (which I had mailed directly to the clinic). I was able to call and speak with my nurse eventually, and someone met me at the clinic (which is only 10 minutes away from my home) and I administered the injection 2 hours behind schedule. I do not think this ultimately impacted my cycle, though I did have fear and anxiety about the timing and if I had not been able to obtain the medication as I did or had not lived close to the clinic, I would have been devastated. I wish I had checked my own medications prior to the day of instead of assuming they were correct and I would counsel any patient to make sure they understand thoroughly all the steps involved before injections start
Dr. Jain is very friendly, comes off as very intelligent but also caring. He speaks in a way that I can understand, not too technical. Explained every step of each procedure & made sure I was comfortable the whole time.... I was given birth control 1st so they could regulate my period. Next I was given Lupron injections to quiet my ovaries. Then I took Estrace to help thicken my lining & last Progesterone suppositories. Unfortunately we had a failed transfer.
The clinic [Santa Monica Fertility] is very clean & organized. The staff will help to get you set up with the best appointment for you. If your nurse is out or busy just ask your question anyways because someone can help you or they will find someone who can.... My head nurse is very organized & very straightforward. The other nursing staff are all very friendly & make it a point to make me feel comfortable & welcome at each visit.

I’m currently doing a mock cycle & will have a biopsy to test my uterine lining so we can pinpoint exactly when to do my next transfer.

All costs were handled between the clinic & my IPs. I’m not aware of any of the costs.
Describe John Jain (retired)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic).
He didn’t have a strong approach either way. It was my IPs decision & he went with their choice.
Dr. Jain was very prompt with his phone calls. I live out of state so was not able to meet him until the day of transfer, but he always returned my calls and my emails. I never felt rushed or brushed off. He seemed so much more knowledgeable about my specific issues than other doctor's I had worked with. When I wanted more information or had additional questions, he always made time and got back to me quickly with answers.
The clinic was willing to tailor a treatment program for my specific needs, something past doctors were not willing to do. They were very honest and extremely good at communicating. The down fall is the price. It was very pricey and they didn't give me the option to buy all of my donor's eggs. I had to buy in additional batched of 8 or 11, so additional costs of $30-50 thousand. I wish they had allowed me to buy them all at a different cost considering all her meds were already covered.

I completed a donor egg cycle which consisted on syncing my cycle with my donor's. I purchased 11 mature eggs from my donor, which resulted in 4 day 5 blasts. I transferred 2 which resulted in a singleton.

All initial consultations were free. I was able to speak with Dr. Jain and the nursing staff as well as find out about the availability of my potential donors before I paid anything. Dr. Jain also ordered a saline sonogram and some bloodwork to make sure donor eggs were possible before I paid the clinic. Once I chose a donor, I had to pay immediately in order to secure her for the dates I wanted. This was $30,000 for 8 mature eggs. After that it was the basic costs that go with a fertility treatment - meds, scans, bloodwork.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic).
Nothing major. Occasionally my nurse would put the wrong names in email directions. I'm sure she just copied and pasted them and forgot to change them.
I chose Dr. Jain because of his experience as something of a pioneer in egg freezing and wanted to make sure that the eggs were vitrified instead of slow frozen...More than three years later, I found myself engaged to be married and curious about whether it made sense to look into using my few frozen eggs ...Dr. Jain took time to update himself on our situation, briefly reviewing records I'd dropped off in advance, and sort of thought out loud/walked through our options and his recommendation.
The level of service that I received at Santa Monica Fertility was outstanding. Dr. Jain himself and his staff were all very responsive. I recall never really having to wait for my monitoring appointments, and Dr. Jain took time to answer all of my questions...I recall the nursing staff to be prompt, polite, and efficient. I do recall at one point being asked to confirm my name and birth date on a label, and my birth date was wrong on it, which concerned me.
How was your experience with John Jain (retired) at Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
I saw Dr. Jain shortly after my 35th birthday in 2012 for egg freezing, which at the time was either still experimental or had just recently lost its experimental designation. I saw him for an initial consultation during which he explained the process, and decided to proceed with an egg freezing cycle with him. I chose Dr. Jain because of his experience as something of a pioneer in egg freezing and wanted to make sure that the eggs were vitrified instead of slow frozen (it didn't hurt that his office was less than two miles from my home at the time and all of his degrees were from my alma mater - though I would have traveled further to cycle with him). He retrieved a modest number of mature eggs that are safely on ice. Unfortunately, I can't say whether those "worked" or will "work" as we've not yet tried to do anything with them.
More than three years later, I found myself engaged to be married and curious about whether it made sense to look into using my few frozen eggs (concern about higher risk of aneuploidy being even older than I was then). I scheduled a follow up phone call with Dr. Jain, who noted that he didn't see any reason to think we wouldn't be able to get pregnant based on what he saw when he treated me, and suggested that we keep the frozen eggs as a last resort. He was right - we got pregnant with a NIPT normal baby the month after we got married, but unfortunately it didn't stick.
Maybe 15 months after that phone call, we'd completed two cycles of IVF/ICSI for PGS elsewhere (in network because I had insurance coverage for those two cycles), and once again wanted to get his thoughts on inseminating the frozen eggs. We scheduled another follow up phone call, during which Dr. Jain took time to update himself on our situation, briefly reviewing records I'd dropped off in advance, and sort of thought out loud/walked through our options and his recommendation. Because of our loss and our ages, we would like to PGS test, but Dr. Jain advised waiting on using the frozen eggs until he might one day be able to offer same day PGS testing (not there yet) to avoid asking too much of the eggs/embryos (thaw, ICSI, culture, biopsy, freeze again, thaw again). He recommended one more IVF cycle for potential banking (and didn't push us at all to do it with him), and maybe going back to trying naturally since we appear to be able to get pregnant. We greatly appreciated his thoughts and honesty.
In hindsight, I wish that I had done a little more homework myself on the odds and the numbers of frozen eggs needed on average for a take home baby. Dr. Jain didn't push me to do another cycle (which I appreciated at the time). I wish that I had frozen more eggs when I was younger (though it was really expensive and all out of pocket - and the technology wasn't even that far along when I was significantly younger), but I am grateful for the few frozen eggs that I do have and am confident that Dr. Jain will give me my best chances when it comes time to use them.

Describe the protocols John Jain (retired) used in your cycles at Santa Monica Fertility (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For my egg freezing cycle, Dr. Jain used an antagonist protocol, starting me with 225 of FSH (Follistim). I continued on this for six days, then went down to 150 FSH and added 75 Menopur and Ganirellix on day 7, went back up to 225 FSH + 75 Menopur + Ganirellix on night 8, then just 225 FSH the morning of day 9 and triggered with 250 Ovidrel that night. I saw Dr Jain for all but I think one of my monitoring appointments. I think we retrieved 12 eggs, 9 of which were mature.

It's just Dr. Jain, so he doesn't have the volume that some clinics in the area may have. However based on our conversation with him, we got the sense that he's see to seeing tougher cases than ours (unexplained, but really we got pregnant the second time we tried naturally and the only time tracking/temping - and haven't yet tried naturally since).

In 2012 approximately $13,000 for egg freezing cycle plus medication.
Dr. Jain is a kind Doctor. He takes time to listen and answer questions. He knows the numbers and is very well informed on the treatments. His predictions were spot on regarding how many embryos we would end up with. I felt confident receiving treatment from him and personally I think that his skilled hand is the reason we ended up with a successful pregnancy and birth...listened to me and made sure I felt heard. He has a warm personality that made me feel comfortable during the entire process.
The [Santa Monica Fertility] process is streamlined and was very easy for us. We made the call and everything was well organized and fell into place. With that being said the entire process took 7 months from time of initial contact to positive pregnancy test, keeping in mind we had already completed our initial testing at another clinic...Our nurse was kind and always made time for us. I frequently contacted her with questions regarding our cycle and she never made me feel like a burden.

Dr. Jain, is an excellent and ethical doctor. He did so much for us, when our first cycle did not work, he told us for my partner to get control of his diabetes, which we did and came back 5 months later and he did our next cycle pro-bono. He helped us so much and I would refer anyone to him. But now that we have chosen to use a known donor, it makes more sense for us to stay in Vegas for our treatments, it just easier for everyone involved. I love both my Fertility doctors.

Dr. Jain was extremely warm and inviting, compassionate, and truly helped me understand the process and my choices. I felt totally at ease because of him, and even though I made personal financial sacrifices to freeze my eggs, I felt assured that Dr. Jain would make my investment well worth it...I do remember Dr. Jain wanting to be moderately aggressive in stimulating my ovaries to produce as many follicles / mature eggs as possible. He made sure I was monitored frequently with ultrasounds and was in constant communication as each day unfolded. I had no negative symptoms throughout the freezing process at all.
Back in 2016, the [Santa Monica Fertility] clinic didn't have an online portal. I've been storing eggs with them since, and they continued to operate old-school style, mailing me paper bills annually for my storage fees. I would have wanted them to get a bit more with the times and have a more digitized approach to billing. I went back to the clinic recently to inquire about IVF, and they did have me fill out my info in an electronic portal, so it seems they have evolved. However, I had to wait 2-3 days for them to retrieve my old paper records before they were able to set up an appointment/ initial consultation.

Dr. Jain was extremely warm and inviting, compassionate, and truly helped me understand the process and my choices. I felt totally at ease because of him, and even though I made personal financial sacrifices to freeze my eggs, I felt assured that Dr. Jain would make my investment well worth it. This was in 2016 when egg freezing was less common, so I was the first of my peers taking action to preserve my fertility. Dr. Jain's approach, I believe, enabled me to have a very positive result of 22 eggs harvested in one cycle. The only thing I wish he would have done better is push me to freeze half my eggs to produce embryos.... but at the time I was quite adamant about my choice not to do that. That said, I do wish someone would have counseled me to take this step.

I have kept a single voice mail message for 8 years and it is the one I received from Dr. Jain letting me know the results of my egg retrieval. Throughout my egg freezing journey, Dr. Jain took time with me 1:1 to put me at ease, inform me of the process, and stay emotionally connected with me. I've felt a sense of calm. warmth, and confidence every time I listen to that voicemail.
