Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Healy took the time to listen to both our fears and desires and get to know us as a couple...not a doctor who dictated our next steps but helped guide us through the different roads we could be facing with each decision we made...We chose the IUI path and had two pregnancies
[At Shady Grove Fertility BMA] The financial side of things are a bit hard to work through due to the fact that the coordinators are all off site...nurse Katie...amazing team to have in our corner during an emotional rollar coaster of visits, procedures, and finally a successful pregnancy
How was your experience with Mae Healy at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Healy and our nurse Katie were an amazing team to have in our corner during an emotional rollar coaster of visits, procedures, and finally a successful pregnancy! Throughout the entirety of being a patient with Shady grove Dr. Healy took the time to listen to both our fears and desires and get to know us as a couple. She was not a doctor who dictated our next steps but helped guide us through the different roads we could be facing with each decision we made. We chose the IUI path and had two pregnancies. We unfortunately went through a miscarriage with the first, but Dr. Healy continued to reassure us and went at the pace that was comfortable for us during that emotional time. Our second IUI has been successful and we have now graduated from SGF! We cannot thank Dr. Healy and Katie enough for their guidance, knowledge, and ultimately for helping us with our successful story! Now to look forward to March 2nd, 2025 when we get to welcome our Shady Grove baby into the world!!!

The financial side of things are a bit hard to work through due to the fact that the coordinators are all off site. Everything with them goes through email and it's hard and slow to get answers. This was the only part of our Shady Grove Fertility experience that we were upset with.

My husband and I have always felt comfortable and heard when we meet Dr. Chason. She's eternally optimistic yet realistic. We feel hopeful, supported and confident whenever we leave our appointments. Even with setbacks, she gives us feedback we can use to make decisions and move forward. She has remained receptive to our concerns and open to adjusting our cycles when needed.
The [SGF Annapolis] receptionists are lovely and encouraging. Scheduling is easy. However, there have been a couple times, over the years, that I've waited almost an hour to be seen. I adore the techs and phlebotomists. Unfortunately, one of my absolute favorite phlebotomists left during the pandemic. I had a concern with one of the NPs, which I addressed with my primary nurse. I haven't had any issues since.

Dr. Chason personally follows up through out our cycles. She went above and beyond to provide me with an excellent surgeon to manage our ectopic pregnancy. She also followed up with the surgeon post op to continue consulting on my case.
Describe the protocols Rebecca Chason used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
(2017-2020) We had 11 IUIs using donor sperm; 3 rounds were medicated (Clomid x2, Femara x1). I am sensitive to medication and prefer to limit it's usage. I had an allergic reaction to Clomid during our second medicated cycle. We had our first positive test with our 6th round. However, I miscarried a few days before our first ultrasound. (2021) We opted to try a round of IVF. We used estrogen patches, Menopur, Ganirelix, Gonal-F, Crinone and Estradiol. We had a fresh transfer on day 5; we opted to have our remaining embryos tested (PGT-A). Our cycle resulted in a positive pregnancy test, but the pregnancy was ectopic. We have not yet started preparing for our first FET.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Ann S.)
Ann took over my care when my previous nurse took a new position. She's calm and reassuring. She's very responsive when I reach out by phone or email. She's always so sweet when I see her around the office.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Under our previous insurance, we paid for 5 IUIs out of pocket. Our current insurance covers services. For the majority of visits, I was charged my copay. IVF was applied towards my deductible in addition to copay charges. However, embryo testing was 100% out of pocket ($3600).

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Chason is an extremely compassionate and warm person and that is extended through her team, her bed side manner, and delivery of information etc. I feel grateful to have her as my treating clinician...she has strong analytical skills to assess what appropriate next steps may be if one course of action did not pan out as expected. She is compassionate, empathetic and realistic.
I truly enjoy my [Shady Grove Fertility] office location. I have experienced compassionate and kind people...[nurse] Joan is a dream come true. She is a very organized person. She is patient, empathetic, and informative. Her response time is quick and she is accessible...For a new patient using insurance I would encourage you to know your benefits well, do not rely just on what is being shared. The policy holder will always have more access to their plan than the provider.
How was your experience with Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the protocols Rebecca Chason used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
1st cycle was an antagonist protocol using birth control start, Menopur, Gonal F, Ganirelix and Lupron trigger (I do not recall the dosage). I had a high AF count and we wanted to prevent OHSS, and she felt I would be a good responder. I stimmed for 8 days, triggered on the 9th. We retrieved 21 eggs, 13 mature, 4 fertilized, 2 made to it to blast and 1 was euploid. That transfer resulted in a chemical pregnancy. For the 2nd round we made a change to improve our fertilization rate, we switched to a Lupron stop protocol. The goal was to produce better quality eggs to increase fertilization. I used Lupron for 9 days once I had a positive ovulation test, then I stimmed for 8 days triggering on the 9th using Menopur, Gonal F and a HCG trigger. We retrieved 19 eggs, 13 mature, 12 fertilized, 10 made it to blast, 7 euploid, 1 transferred resulted in a miscarriage. This last round is still being monitored for my HCG levels to drop and we will discuss next steps. I between round 1 & 2 retrieval I had a mock transfer which discovered a polyp, and between round 2 retrieval and transfer I had one hysteroscopy to remove the polyp and endometritis was discovered as well as low visibility of my right tube. I had a course of antibiotics for 2 weeks to rid the inflammation, followed by an endometrial biopsy which showed improvement but endometritis still present. At that time I opted for an additional hysteroscopy for a repeat biopsy and to look at the right tube. The biopsy showed the endometritis cleared, and the right tube entrance had scar tissue that was cleared.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Conflicting information from a financial counselor regarding my insurance benefits. I had called my insurance and was ensured that a particular analysis for my husband was covered by insurance. I was told by the clinic it was not, this was not correct as my plan was different than the traditional plan they had seen which did not cover the analysis in question.

While I am sure she [Dr. Rebecca Chason] is a great Dr, she was very clear about the expectations and my doing donor eggs. I have a good egg reserve for my age and wanted to try with my own eggs and not be pushed into donor when I had other options. So I felt that my care was not as aggressive as could have been because they just didn’t think it would work...Demand more, do your research and ask tons of questions. Don’t assume because they are the Dr they know more. You have to advocate for yourself and what you would like done
They [Shady Grove Fertility] have a age cut off, a BMI cut off and the financial team is very bad at getting back to you in a timely fashion. They staff you worked with most were the ones that took your blood, and the ones that did the ultrasounds. They were very kind, compassionate and friendly...the weekend nursing staff were a bit more compassionate than the weekday staff. But overall not a bad experience

While I am sure she is a great Dr, she was very clear about the expectations and my doing donor eggs. I have a good egg reserve for my age and wanted to try with my own eggs and not be pushed into donor when I had other options. So I felt that my care was not as aggressive as could have been because they just didn’t think it would work. After the 3 failed IUI I reached out about a change to my regimen because clearly what I was on was not working. They said no it would stay the same and I was responding well. Well after 2 more failed attempts Dr. chasen now wants to talk about changing the regimen which I felt was a little late. I aged out of IVF at that particular clinic but never got a change to do a successful retrieval so I moved on to a clinic that didn’t have a age cut off of 45 for your own eggs. I didn’t even bother with the last IUI….more money wasted with no measurable change to the regimen

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I barely spoke to Dr. Chasen more so her nurse. Overall while they were nice I didn’t feel that they cared as much as I would have liked during this emotionally stressful period. They kept pushing me to do donor egg although my egg reserve was good. I do feel that my failed egg retrieval could have also been avoided if certain things would have been noted before hand.
Describe the protocols Rebecca Chason used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For the IVF…I was on BC pills initially, then Lupron, added in 150 menopour and 275 gonal f. They started high because of my age and I reacted better than they thought so they had to lower the gonal f to 150 so I would not go into ohss. I went into retrieval with them seeing at least 16 follicles mature and ready. I woke up saying they were unable to retrieve any because they could not access my ovaries vaginally and abdominally they saw a blood vessel in front of the ovary and decided to not proceed. It was devastating They then told me that they would not move on with IVF for that reason….no trying to figure out how we can go around that because I clearly responded well. They then moved to IUI which was 100mg clomid for 5 days and on day 3 150 gonal f and day 5 150 gonal f. When I went in each time they saw 2-3 follicles that were mature and ready for insemenation. The sperm was great according to them, but Nothing took.

It was just twice that I had to call about results and to know if I was triggering that night as the staff failed to call as the usually did. I was able to reach a night nurse who after looking up the information called me back and said that yes I was to trigger which I would have missed if I was not proactive about calling

[Dr. Rebecca Chason] was very attentive to adjust my meds and I did not have OHSS...We transferred 1 fresh 5 day blastocyst which worked. Although we ended up miscarrying at 15 weeks due to a rare genetic disorder...called to check on us after our miscarriage...gave us all the options going forward...always treated us with respect and felt like our concerns were always valid.
[Nurse at Shady Grove Fertility] has been so supportive through this whole journey. We called her the day before we were following up with our OB post D&C and asked if we could stop by the clinic just to talk. She was so welcoming that day and gave us so much hope moving forward...All of the staff from receptionist , check out staff, lab and US techs are so compassionate. I've always felt comfortable and welcome.
How was your experience with Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Chason has always treated us with respect and felt like our concerns were always valid. For example our recent miscarriage at 15 weeks resulted from a genetic disorder. She gave us all the options going forward. Dr. Chason called us before our telehealth visit to order labs for us ahead of time.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Ask all the questions whether or not you think it's silly. Dr Chason will always answer it to the best of her ability.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr Chason has been so amazing being upfront with us and explaining everything. Since we are in the medical field she talks in medical terms so we can understand. She called us on her vacation to check on us after our egg retrieval. She also called to check on us after our miscarriage.
Describe the protocols Rebecca Chason used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
IUI we used clomid for 3 cycles and switched to Letrozole with HCG trigger shot. She thought based off of my age and diagnosis we would have success. We ended up not havimg success so we started IVF. For IVF Dr. Chason chose an agonist protocol with Gonal-F and Menopur. She decided on a dual trigger Lupron and HCG to try and avoid OHSS due to my small weight/ follicles. She was very attentive to adjust my meds and I did not have OHSS. On egg retrieval day we had 15 eggs, 9 were mature, and we ended up with 5 embryos. We transferred 1 fresh 5 day blastocyst which worked. Although we ended up miscarrying at 15 weeks due to a rare genetic disorder. We did not PGS test due to our ages. I am 30 and my husband is 33.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Jennifer Levy)
Jen is amazing! She has been so supportive through this whole journey. We called her the day before we were following up with our OB post D&C and asked if we could stop by the clinic just to talk. She was so welcoming that day and gave us so much hope moving forward.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
All of the staff from receptionist , check out staff, lab and US techs are so compassionate. I've always felt comfortable and welcome. I can't note any negatives. They were also on top of protocol to protect our safety during Covid-19! Social distancing with other patients, hand sanitizer and wiping off pens.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Rebecca Chason at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
We had to pay for some of our medications. Most of our appointments had a copay. We had to pay for embryo freezing and will need to come out of pocket for PGS testing of our frozen embryos.
Describe Rebecca Chason's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
My Dr prefers eSET. We never discussed transferring more than one based off of my age.

I didn't feel like my concerns were being addressed...I didn't have a good experience with him [Dr. McKeeby]. I felt I was just another candidate for failure due to my advanced age. I was not a good responder for the high hormone doses and I asked for a low hormone protocol that worked once but didn't result in a pregnancy, he ignored my request and kept doing the high hormone dose that didn't even result in 1 viable embryo. Very frustrating since this treatment costs a lot of money....
Overall the other staff [Shady Grove Fertility] is very helpful and nice. Cuddos for the girls that draw blood. I like the convenience of the clinic and that they are open 7 days a week ( sometimes going to different locations for the retrieval) The experience didn't feel personal...There is a patient portal that results were supposed to be uploaded there, but my results were not uploaded until I requested and not all of the results....

Most of them are really nice. There was an instance that I had a chemical pregnancy and I didn't know about it, but complained about pain on the left side and they said it was normal. Only when I insisted that the pain wouldn't go away they checked with ultra sound and found out it was a chemical pregnancy and I need to be sent to the hospital right away. That was another very bad experience for me.

Dr McKeeby is a straight shooter and will not waste your time...I felt that my treatment plan was determined as soon as I walked through the door due to my having a history of uterine fibroids. I never felt any concern after expressing my fears of not exploring any other options besides IVF because there were several others offered at the facility.
My only complaint [for SGF] was the poor telephone communication. I could never speak to my nurse, it took months for me to find out how much the proposed procedures would actually cost. I suggest writing any questions that you have down and taking them with you on your next visit...ask them face to face...Roughly $500 for tests not covered by insurance.
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr McKeeby is a straight shooter and will not waste your time. He is very knowledgeable and direct but at times it comes off as you are an annoyance or that he lacks compassion. I think that because he has years of experience and has had success in treatment plans that when you walk through the door give your age, he glances over whatever you give him regarding your medical he has determined the course of action for you prior to testing. In some cases that’s great, but in mine not so great.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Be tough, he does not mince words or facial expressions when he talks to you.

During appointments, Dr. McKeeby takes plenty of time to explain the diagnosis and the recommended treatment plan. He never makes you feel rushed and always answers all of our questions. He has offered to meet with us beyond our “normal” follow up appointments (if we needed) and has squeezed us in multiple times to keep the process moving forward. When we see him at the office during monitoring appointments he always acknowledges us and often comes to say hi and see how everything is going.
Overall it’s been a pretty positive experience with Shady Grove Annapolis. The front desk staff are always friendly and organized, and scheduled appointments with physicians are (mostly) on schedule. The wait times for monitoring appointments can vary anywhere from 15-45 minutes before being seen). I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment and the staff has always been accommodating when they could be. By far the worst part of the process so far has been the financial aspect as the Annapolis office doesn’t have a financial coordinator on site.
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. McKeeby displays a great deal of experience and knowledge. He thoroughly answers all questions and provides examples (and drawings!) to make sure we understand and feel comfortable. Early on in our treatment, Dr. McKeeby built a more personal relationship with us and tried to relate to us about things we had in common, which was helpful in building an overall positive rapport. We’ve had ups and downs so far in our treatment, and Dr. McKeeby has had to communicate difficult or disappointing news to us on multiple occasions. Although sometimes he can be very blunt/direct, he recognizes when we need him to communicate information differently and he will re-state his point. After a difficult first cycle which didn’t end the way we had hoped, he was positive/reassuring and recommended a change in protocol to try and refine the results and increase our chances of success. While it’s too early to say how things will end, we trust his opinion and are very satisfied with our interactions with Dr. McKeeby to this point.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Not so much related to Dr. McKeeby but more the process - don’t be afraid to ask questions, be your own advocate, and be clear about your wishes and concerns.

Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
The first IVF cycle we did was a “standard” protocol - baseline bloodwork and birth control for 2-3 weeks, begin injections of stimulating hormones and attend routine monitoring appointments (bloodwork and ultrasound). Trigger shot of HcG and a scheduled egg retrieval 36 hours later. Although we achieved pretty good results with a decent number of eggs retrieved, we did not have any embryos to transfer this cycle. Dr. McKeeby explained that we’ll change up the protocol for the next cycle in the hopes that we have a more efficient stimulation synchronizing follicle growth and hopefully resulting in more (and better quality) eggs retrieved. Additionally, after the first IVF cycle Dr. McKeeby referred us to another Shady Grove physician to gather some additional information about the male component and to make sure we’re taking the best approach for our situation.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Elizabeth Bazel)
Beth is amazing - she is organized, responsive, compassionate, knowledgeable, and she truly goes above and beyond! She has made us feel cared for and supported throughout the process. We were initially assigned to a different nurse but requested to change to a new nurse very early on in the process due to a disconnect in communication styles and expectations.

You spend a lot of time playing phone tag and trying to reach the single financial coordinator assigned to patients in Annapolis, Towson, and Rockville. When you are able to get through they almost never have the answers to your questions and almost always need to get back to you.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Our health insurance covered some of the diagnostic testing and appointments but doesn’t cover anything for infertility, so we are 100% self pay for procedures, medication, and all other related expenses/costs.
Describe Jeffrey McKeeby's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).

The first nurse we were assigned to failed to schedule the correct bloodwork/prepare the correct order in the system. It ultimately wasn’t an issue because the phlebotomist caught the error and corrected it immediately.

He [Dr. Mottla] had a strong preference for single embryo transfer and essentially told me that multiple embryo transfers were not an option and something that he did not suggest. This was a little disappointing...He has been very hands on throughout the process. Always willing to answer any questions or concerns that I may have. At one point there seemed like there could have been a "miracle" for my situation, and he was very realistic and practical with how often the miracle could happen. It let me know and see that he was hopeful and optomistic, but also being real about the situation.
I appreciate how communicative they are [at Shady Grove Fertility], including the blog posts recieved via email. When I've been MIA for a few months my clinical coordinator has sent an email just to check in and see if there is anything they can do. There are a few waiting rooms, one seems to be for people doing consultations and the other for women getting checked out quickly in the am- but you can access either. For my process, I was asked to meet with a social worker, that is conveniently located in the same building.

The one thing that initially made me a little sad, was he stated in the beginning that he is a fan of single births and that he would not implant more than one embryo. As someone hoping for twins, I was a little disappointed. He explained the health risks associated with the recommendation, so I knew it was coming from a good place.

For my process, I was asked to meet with a social worker, that is conveniently located in the same building. I was able to meet with the financial coordinator right after my consultation, thanks to Shady Grove being proactive. At the end of our consultation we were given temporary access into a database to take a look at the various options there and help familiarize ourselves with the process. I found the doctor to be realistic with timeliness, treatments and expectations. Also, the financial coordinator was extremely helpful and patient- my husband and I sat with her for over an hour discussing the various options, pros and cons. She also went above and beyond to speak with the broker for my husbands insurance to determine exactly what, if anything, was covered. Overall, it’s been a great experience.

How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. McKeeby has a bit of a unique personality. He was very welcoming when my husband and I attended our consultation in March of 2018. We felt that he took a detailed history, asked a lot of questions about our desires/goals, and allowed us to have input on what treatment would like. Dr. McKeeby is very knowledgeable about the science aspect of treatment and was able to explain our treatment options in detail. He was able to provide us to with statistics for success and gave us a recommendation, based on what was our best chance statistically. He also took into consideration our insurance and financial situation. We have, unfortunately, experienced a lot of unanticipated setbacks throughout treatment. We have had several FET cycles cancelled, for various reasons, but Dr. McKeeby has always been extremely compassionate in breaking the bad news to us - He always explains why the cancellation is necessary, and is always ready with a new plan. He has been very proactive and has never suggested that we try the same plan twice - if it doesn't work the first time, he makes changes or suggests something new entirely. Although we have not had success yet, I have been extremely satisfied with Dr. McKeeby and his management of our treatment.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. McKeeby has been extremely compassionate during our fertility treatment. He has been readily available to meet with me, unexpectedly, when issues have arose during monitoring appointments. When my fresh transfer was cancelled due to OHSS, Dr. McKeeby called me personally to provide an update on our embryos. He always says "hi" when he sees me at the clinic for monitoring appointments, and treats me as an individual at follow-up appointments.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For our IVF retrieval cycle we used Gonal-F 150IU, Menopur 75IU (increased to 150IU on stim day 7), Ganirelix, and a Lupron trigger. We used this protocol, which is pretty standard and low-dose, because our diagnosis is MFI and Dr. McKeeby did not anticipate any issue with follicle growth. For our 1st FET cycle we used oral Estrace 2mg, taken three times daily. Vaginal Estrace was added, due to thin lining - this cycle was cancelled. For our 2nd FET cycle we used a stimulated FET protocol, with Gonal-F 150IU and Ganirelix to prevent ovulation. This protocol was chosen due to prior difficulty with uterine lining - cycle was cancelled due to high follicle count. For our 3rd FET cycle we used Delestrogen .2 ML, every other day - cycle was cancelled due to ovulation. For our 4th FET cycle we used Delestrogren .2 ML, every other day and Estrace 2mg vaginally, twice daily - this cycle resulted in pregnancy, but pregnancy was not viable. For our 5th FET cycle we used the same protocol as the previous cycle, but lining did not respond the same and cycle was cancelled. Four our 6th FET we are using another stimulated FET protocol with Menopur 112 IU - this cycle is in process.

We paid 30,000 for a package that includes 2 retrievals, as many transfers as we want and covers some PGS testing. Some tests are partially covered by insurance or we had to pay our deductible. Our medicines are very expensive and not covered through insurance and one thing that does frustrate me is that they over prescribe.
Describe Gilbert Mottla's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
I haven't found a doctor that is pro multiple embryo transfer. Everyone has said its too dangerous.

How was your experience with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
On first consultation he made observations based off of questions, frequency and regularity of period etc and without further testing speculated that our issue was probably irregular ovulation. Said that cloned would probably do the trick. Speculated that testosterone/MFI was probably not an issue by looking at husbands muscle and facial hair. That set hopes and expectations high. Come to find out we have MFI and I am fine. Much longer process than simply taking clinic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?

All female diagnostic tests. Then male diagnostic. Husband tested positive for genetic condition which causes azoospermia. Was put on medication to increase testosterone level for three months and then underwent Micro-TESE to retrieve sperm.

Nurse was responsive but didn’t seem to fully communicate all the information between us and other doctors. Was good if we pressed for information or answers.

All diagnostics which were mostly covered by insurance for husband and myself totalled about $2K. That included two counsyl genetic carrier tests at $299 each. Surgery for $8500 out of pocket and have not gotten to first IVF cycle yet.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
We had talked to our nurse about scheduling a surgical procedure and were told that she’d reach out to the doctors assistant to find out what day/times were available. We never heard back from the nurse until we got a phone call from our financial counselor telling us that we had to pay same day or our date/surgery wouldn’t happen. As far as we’d known nothing had been scheduled and we being asked to pay quite a large sum of money within the next 4 hours or so. Communication was lacking from the nurse.

Dr. Mottla wants you to succeed in treatments so does not hold back on what he believes will work best for you. After our first meeting we went straight to IUI with clomid and injectables. After 4 failed IUIs he gave us the option to try again, but assured us that IVF was the best route for our situation. He was right, 5+ weeks pregnant with a fresh 5 day hatching embryo transferred!
Shady Grove [Annapolis] has so many different locations available in my area. The hours are great and they have always been able to accommodate every need. The clinics are beautiful and are so welcoming to all patients.... All of the nurses at Shady Grove have been very helpful. They are very good at explaining treatment plans and answering all questions or concerns. Ann was always available to answer any crazy question I threw her way!

Dr. Mottla really wanted us to succeed with IVF treatment, but given my age, I had a 50/50 chance getting pregnant with IVF do transferring one was all we needed. He explained that though I am tall enough to carry twins, it is still a high risk pregnancy and since my chances are high, he advised transferring only one.

He [Dr. Mottla] was amazing and I am so glad he was my doctor. At times I wish he was a little more thorough or “out of the box” but overall I wholeheartedly recommend him. I’ve never had a doctor show so much compassion. Because of how the practice is set up, sometimes you didn’t get to see him or you would have to communicate with him through nurses but that was the only frustrating part...Very compassionate, always felt he cared about me and my goals.
[Shady Grove ] Most in the Annapolis are nice and show compassion. One of the doctors I had for an IUI in Toowson was so mean. One of the phlebotomists in Annapolis was very rude to me during an emotional moment which left me cryin* for hours after an IUI. There is potential to feel l8r just a number but overall the compassion shown by most avoids that...I got a phone voice message from a nurse saying something about my blood work confirming recent ovulation...I was in the middle of ivf and hadn’t recently ovulated.

First ivf cycle, 8 eggs only 6 mature, 3 fertilized, one transferred (ABG), none to freeze 2nd ivf cycle, 8 eggs, all mature, 6 fertilized, 2 transferred (ABG) none to freeze In both cases had implantation and heartbeat, but miscarried at 7 weeks.

I got a phone voice message from a nurse saying something about my blood work confirming recent ovulation...I was in the middle of ivf and hadn’t recently ovulated. She was new and I think confused. No biggie. The various branches are not always consistent. For example after ET in Rockville, I was told no lifting over 20 lbs. for 3 days; another nurse said no lifting for 10 days; and my nurse said no lifting for entire pregnancy. Similar inconsistencies with herbal teas, caffeine, etc. didn’t bother me a ton since I know different doctors have different approaches.

Andrea [Reh] was extremely kind and really took the time to explain everything, including things that were not necessarily in her scope of expertise (financing). She was very patient and really explored all options with me. In addition, she was very honest...As a single woman, she was supportive of my journey. I never felt worried about doing this alone. Andrea never made me feel like she was rushing.
Shady Grove has cutting-edge technology and gives you confidence in the procedures and treatments. They have many different locations and everyone from front desk staff to the physicians are extremely kind. At times, I had some difficulty getting super specific information or suggestions about finances....The entire nursing staff was always very kind. I felt very comfortable and welcome....I believe using my froze eggs (including transfer) costs somewhere around 16K, if this is not successful, using an egg donor (shared) will be around 19k.
How was your experience with Andrea Reh at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Andrea was very thorough in exploring all of my options. As a single woman, she was supportive of my journey. I never felt worried about doing this alone. Andrea never made me feel like she was rushing. In fact, when I apologized for asking so many questions, she told me that it was her job and to ask her everything I needed to. In addition, I was told to contact her with further questions. She encouraged me to keep all of my options open and explore all possibilities. Each time I go, Andrea makes me feel that I matter and am not just another number.

I had fibroid surgery while I was under Andrea's care. I had all of the testing done to assess readiness for IVF. My treatment was pause in order to secure proper financing. We discussed transferring my eggs from NY, using egg donors, and using sperm donors.

Dr. Chason was wonderful and very knowledgeable about everything. From our very first appointment she always explained everything to us so that we understood what we were doing, what our options were, and what we may do next. She called regularly to check in on us as we completed multiple rounds of IUI and that was so great! She understood that it's easy to get down about things when the first couple rounds fail. She made adjustments to my medications and plan in real time, based on my blood work and ultrasounds from that very morning. I always felt like she stayed right on top of keeping us on track
They [Shady Grove Fertility- Annapolis] are extremely efficient in the mornings! It was so great! Each morning I went in there were dozens of other women also coming in for blood work and ultrasounds but they kept everything moving and flowing so well! It was quick but I never felt rushed, I don't know how they managed that!... All of the nursing staff was wonderful! Not only were they friendly and caring, but they remembered me and my husband every time we came in!

Dr. Chason understood that we had been ready for a baby years ago when we started trying. Other doctors made me feel like I was being impatient but she never did! She understood had been ready and that years of waiting already were so very hard.
Describe the protocols Rebecca Chason used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My first IUI cycle I had a cyst so I ended up on birth control for a short amount of time, which was successful in getting rid of it. I did a half dose of Clomid for 5 days, but I didn't respond to it very much so I then did a full dose. I got 2 mature eggs from that, but my lining was very thin. Dr. Chason added Estrace for me, and the Ovidrel shot, then Progesterone after the insemination. No baby from that round. In round 2 I was switched to Letrozole which only produced 1 mature egg, but kept my lining thicker. I still was prescribed Estrace to help it more though. I ended up with a chemical pregnancy from this round. Round 3 followed the same as round 2, but no pregnancy at all that time. Round 4 I had a very small cyst but it went away on it's own in the first few days. I followed the same as rounds 2 and 3, but had conversations with Dr. Chason of possible changes (more injectables) if I needed to move on to a round 5 or 6. But, I didn't need to do that because round 4 was successful and lead to my beautiful baby girl.

My insurance covered the cost of 6 IUIs and 3 IVFs, since we only needed 4 IUIs we didn't have a cost. We paid a $15 copay for each visit but that was it.

Strengths - good communication, optimistic, explains things in easy to understand terms, easy to get in contact with, compassionate Weaknesses - not fully understanding how adenomyosis affects fertility, however it is still an area where most RE's are not fully versed...He is kind and will clearly explain your protocol and all procedures. If you have questions or don't understand, ask so he will explain in a different way.
[Shady Grove] Strengths- quick to get an appointment, ultrasound and lab staff is caring and positive Weaknesses - monitoring appointments are not honored, it is a first come first serve cattle call type situation, front desk staff can be rude, billing and financial often seems confused about things...When my nurse was off for an extended time, her replacement forgot to order meds. When the financial coordinator calls they are often unsure of what I owe, what I have paid, etc.

Dr. McKeeby and his nurse, Ann, often call or email to check how I am doing on a cycle or after a cycle. They are responsive to calls and e-mails. They know me when I come in the office and seem to genuinely care. The staff that does blood work and ultrasounds are the same.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have done 5 retrievals and 2 FETs with while under his care. The protocols for retrievals have been varied and were adjusted with my last retrieval producing the most eggs. He is very careful when he adjusts and always calls and explains the why. For FETs he has tried 2 different protocols. My most recent was 6 months of down-regulation. It resulted in a pregnancy but early miscarriage, most likely due to diffuse adenomyosis.

Cattle call! As a teacher who had to be to work by a certain time, I would often need to show up at 6:45 just to guarantee I was among the first few patients seen when monitoring started at 7:30 even though I have had appointments.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
My insurance covers most of the retrieval process. I cover $600 and then cost to PGS test and freeze. They cover transfer up to 3 for live birth. My medicines are covered except for a co-pay.
Describe Jeffrey McKeeby's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. McKeeby has always recommended one embryo due to my age as well as the PGS tested quality of the embryo being transferred. I do not believe transferring multiple would have had a different outcome so I trust him with this decision.

Dr. Matla understood the pain we were going through to conceive and the tough place we were in. He was understanding, patient and explained all the results and procedures so that we could comprehend our treatment. He never rushed through our appointments to get to the next patient...Dr. Mottla wanted to provide us with a child and tried to take our income in to consideration so we didn’t throw money at a treatment that wouldn’t provide us our desired outcome. He let us take our time discussing our treatment so that we were not rushed to a decision.
Everyone is so friendly and kind! They [Shady Grove] take the time to see you and get to know you! The most intimidating part is meeting with the finance team because the next step becomes real. However, they provide advice to those that have to pay out of pocket so you get the best results of your treatment...Dana was the best! I felt she was more of a family member than our nurse...She gave me her cellphone number and let me ask questions whenever I had them. She was quick to return my calls and so compassionate.

Dr. Mottla wanted to provide us with a child and tried to take our income in to consideration so we didn’t throw money at a treatment that wouldn’t provide us our desired outcome. He let us take our time discussing our treatment so that we were not rushed to a decision. I appreciated his explanations so that we knew what to expect during treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Be aware that he is blunt. He’s not being unkind, sometimes delivering bad news is not easy. He is there to help and understands what you’re going through.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Matla understood the pain we were going through to conceive and the tough place we were in. He was understanding, patient and explained all the results and procedures so that we could comprehend our treatment. He never rushed through our appointments to get to the next patient. We felt like our infertility was not a problem.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Dana)
Dana was the best! I felt she was more of a family member than our nurse. She gave me her cellphone number and let me ask questions whenever I had them. She was quick to return my calls and so compassionate.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Everyone is so friendly and kind! They take the time to see you and get to know you! The most intimidating part is meeting with the finance team because the next step becomes real. However, they provide advice to those that have to pay out of pocket so you get the best results of your treatment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dana was good to call around to find us the best priced medication which was $423 a cycle. IVF was $30,000 for 6 cycles and a shared risk. If you did not deliver a child after 6 sessions you were fully refunded.

Dr. Mottla was the first doctor who actually seemed to care about our recurrent losses. We've had 4 miscarriages, and 1 stillbirth, but other RE's continued to sweep our issues under the rug. Dr. Mottla was completely different. He took time to listen to our story, and treated us with such compassion...Dr. Mottla's strengths are his compassion, bedside manner, attention to detail, and knowledge of research in the RE field.
Shady Grove is absolutely wonderful! All of the staff members are polite, and caring. It's easy to get a hold of whomever I need, and everything happens promptly. The communication of the clinic is stellar, and everyone is always on the same page...[Nurse] Sarah has been fantastic to work with. She is always quick to return my phone calls (usually the same day), and is patient with the numerous questions I usually have.
How was your experience with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Mottla's strengths are his compassion, bedside manner, attention to detail, and knowledge of research in the RE field. After 6 months of paltry care from our previous clinic, seeing Dr. Mottla was a breath of fresh air. We finally felt cared for, and our hope in a successful pregnancy was restored.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Go in with high expectations, because he will meet (and even exceed) them!

Dr. Mottla was completely different. He took time to listen to our story, and treated us with such compassion. I'll never forget what he said at our first appointment: "You've been through a lot, and you deserve the best care." He is the embodiment of William Mayo's quote, "The needs of the patient come first."
Describe the protocols Gilbert Mottla used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We haven't started treatment yet, because I had my uterine septum removed. Right now, our plan is to do a monitored cycle, seeing as we haven't had difficulty getting pregnant (knock-on-wood), our problem lies in maintaining a pregnancy. He plans to trigger ovulation, and put me on progesterone to keep my lining thick. I'll also take baby aspirin and Lovenox to combat any clotting factors that may be inhibiting pregnancy.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
We had a referral for our initial consult, HSG, baseline blood work, and saline sonogram, so that was all covered. I've switched insurance plans now, so a copay will be associated from here on out. Despite that, the prices seem very reasonable.

The contact I had directly with Dr Mottla was warm and positive..Dr Mottla was great when I did interact with him....Dr Mottla stated at first that he almost always recommends a single embryo transfer, though there are circumstances where multiple embryo transfer is recommended...He was warm and called me personally at a couple stages through my IVF cycle. He was knowledgeable and made good treatment recommendations for me while under his care...
Shady Grove is a large facility so there are times you feel like a number during the process....I was an out of state patient and I felt like my nurse did a very good job communicating with me throughout the process and my doctors out of state...I particularly chose to travel to shady grove from out of state because of their financial aid program. I qualified for a 25% discount on my treatment. Also there are different packages at reduced cost for multiple cycles.
How was your experience with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I had a very positive experience with Dr Mottla and would return if I wished to conceive again. He was warm and called me personally at a couple stages through my IVF cycle. He was knowledgeable and made good treatment recommendations for me while under his care.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
The contact I had directly with Dr Mottla was warm and positive. Shady Grove is a large facility so there are times you feel like a number during the process. But Dr Mottla was great when I did interact with him. He personally called me the day before my embryo transfer and also to congratulate me on my pregnancy.
Describe the protocols Gilbert Mottla used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
It’s been awhile since I thought about this! I did an IVF cycle with Dr Mottla, which resulted in a fresh transfer of two average grade embryos—but I had twins! I remember that I took menopur, gonalF, and ganirilex, then a trigger shot before my retrieval. My ultrasounds showed 10 follicles and I remember Dr mottla saying that he would change my medications if I did a second round. However, at my retrieval 9 eggs were retrieved and all 9 fertilized. By day 5 only two embryos were left and of good quality, so dr mottla advised I transfer both for better odds of success. I ended up with twins.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Sarah Townsend)
I was an out of state patient and I felt like my nurse did a very good job communicating with me throughout the process and my doctors out of state.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
It is a large facility so I recommend keeping on top of your own treatment. I think they do a great job but for peace of mind, stay on top of things and advocate for yourself. It is an emotional and expensive experience.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Seemed like monitoring was done in morning hours and there were a lot of staff seeing people in multiple rooms. It moved quickly and I could tell a lot of people were coming before work.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Ivf is expensive, but I particularly chose to travel to shady grove from out of state because of their financial aid program. I qualified for a 25% discount on my treatment. Also there are different packages at reduced cost for multiple cycles.
Describe Gilbert Mottla's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dr Mottla stated at first that he almost always recommends a single embryo transfer, though there are circumstances where multiple embryo transfer is recommended. In my situation because I only had 2 embryos that made it to day 5 and the embryologists felt the quality wasn’t good enough to survive a freeze, dr mottla did recommend I transfer both.

He said, "he didn't want to put me through all of that" and that DE "was my best chance of a successful pregnancy." I don't know what could have happened, but we went with DE and our first is due in 2 weeks. Got lucky on shot #1. I will say for the very expensive money, if it doesn't work, you get it ALL back through their guarrantee program (6 shots). Dr. Mottla did genuinely care about me, I believe. I did not care for the other doctor and left the clinic the first time because of his demeanor.
Shady Grove: They always knew my name when I walked in. They were as prompt as they could be with the many appts they had. By the time I got to DE, I felt pretty special--maybe bc they knew I had coughed up $30k! I love the blood draw ladies...My first nurse (can't remember her name) answered my endless questions (and I had a lot). She was always kind and helpful, returning calls immediately. Penny was my DE nurse. She was kind of an "all business" lady and by that time, I did not need as much emotional support.
How was your experience with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Not sure this site will let me review the other two docs, who I was NOT happy with. But he was my last stop--I thought I would get a chance to even try with my own eggs, but I wasn't. Even with my DOR status, I had gotten pregnant 3 times on my own. I think he knew that despite being at the end of my emotional rope, that I really wanted to use my OEs despite my intense fear of another MC. He said, "he didn't want to put me through all of that" and that DE "was my best chance of a successful pregnancy." What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I'm not sure there is anything I would tell you about him specifically, only that the fertility road is exhausting, emotional, expensive, and really makes you question everything as a person and what kind of information you can trust. I think Dr. Mottla is completely aware of all this. In the end, I had to trust him. Had to trust somebody.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Mottla was the 3rd doc I saw. 2nd at Shady Grove. I did not like Dr. McKeeby (my first doc) and transferred up to Johns Hopkins. I did feel like a number there and had no real personal interaction. Dr. Mottla was my last stop and although I didn't like what I heard (and still don't totally believe the actual source of my issue was DOR), I am almost due with my first baby, through the use of DE and couldn't be happier.
Describe the protocols Gilbert Mottla used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Because he would not let me use my own eggs (my AMH was less than 0.01, despite getting pregnant multiple times on my own), none of the treatments I had researched were used. My DE treatment was pretty basic with estrogen/progesterone shots after my cycle had lined up with the donor's. At Johns Hopkins, we were doing natural, medicated cycles using Femara and then the ovidril trigger shot. Only 2 of my 4 cycles cooperated. They had terrible communication up there and I was always confused by what they were telling me. They would have treated me with my OE, but by then the 2 hour round trip ride and the complete lack of communication had thoroughly exhausted me. Mottla felt that while I could have a miracle baby, that any egg my body produced would be far superior to any eggs they could get from me artificially.

By the time I got to DE, I felt pretty special--maybe bc they knew I had coughed up $30k! I love the blood draw ladies. Johns Hopkins: So impersonal, not nice office, never saw the same doc twice. Much more cold hospital setting. JH is great if you have a rare illness (which I had and my care was great), but for fertility stuff, a specialized clinic is better.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gilbert Mottla at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
My insurance would have paid for 3 rounds of IVF with my own egg. But they wouldn't do it :( I used their most popular program: the 1:3 donor egg match (1 donor to three recipients). $30k for 6 cycles or all of your money back. We did get lucky on try #1.

I am still annoyed that I wasn't allowed to try even 1 cycle with my own eggs--maybe because people with DOR don't typically get pregnant as easily as I did...Dr. McKeeby could only say "well, something else must have gone wrong" and looked at my #s and just said, "you need to do donor egg." There was no further discussion about any other possible solution. I just felt like they were trying to sell me something that I didn't want and left for a 2nd opinion at another clinic.
If you don't like him [Dr Jeffrey McKeeby] , just move on to Mottla. It was night and day...SG is a very organized clinic, compared to the other one I went to. It's pretty, clean, relaxing, maybe because it is a for-profit organization. I felt known and the people were very friendly....Jackie was my first nurse at SG. I almost didn't want to change docs bc I was so attached to her.
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I had a co-worker who had a rare uterine condition and he treated her for the 3 cycles that both of our insurances would have paid for. She really liked him and just described him as being "dorky". At a donor recipient support group, I also met another woman who also left SG because of McKeeby... so maybe he works for some people, but as I said, I ultimately left for a 2nd opinion at Johns Hopkins bc of this doctor. It took 4-5 months to see that doc and my numbers got way worse during that time period. I am still annoyed that I wasn't allowed to try even 1 cycle with my own eggs--maybe because people with DOR don't typically get pregnant as easily as I did.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
If you don't like him, just move on to Mottla. It was night and day. Also, the fertility world is filled with all sorts of natural remedies that could "possibly work for you". This made me into an obsessed person who was trying to make the perfect egg of my own. That wasn't to be, at least this time around. Even Mottla said that miracle babies do exist, but we needed at least to get a jump start on baby #1, given our ages (now 41 and 45, due in 2 weeks with our DE baby on first cycle).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Miscarriage #3 was my first baby with a heartbeat that we knew of. At 12w, I found out that the chromosomally-normal M had passed away at 10w. Dr. McKeeby could only say "well, something else must have gone wrong" and looked at my #s and just said, "you need to do donor egg." There was no further discussion about any other possible solution. I just felt like they were trying to sell me something that I didn't want and left for a 2nd opinion at another clinic.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Never got that far with him. Was so thrown by his only saying to use a DE.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
Jackie was my first nurse at SG. I almost didn't want to change docs bc I was so attached to her. She was fantastic at answering calls and all my questions, including about how to improve egg quality. SG is not "alternative" sort of clinic in terms of using/recommending supplements, etc. which may be both good and bad, depending on what sort of person you are.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA (US Fertility Network clinic).
SG is a very organized clinic, compared to the other one I went to. It's pretty, clean, relaxing, maybe because it is a for-profit organization. I felt known and the people were very friendly.

Dr. Mottla always made me feel hopeful and had excellent bedside manner. He is patient and even came to a different office location to perform one of my procedures himself. I would recommend him to anyone...thoughtful approach to infertility...truly cares about his patients...
The staff at the [at Shady Grove Fertility] clinic became like family to me. They are truly invested in you as a person. The only difficulty I ever had was waiting months to get my initial appointment and with the financial department. But the staff working at this location were caring and beyond helpful...The nursing staff is great...Only once my medication was not called in properly but the clinic was able to give me samples they had so it didn’t affect my treatment at all.

Use of clomid to treat annovulation [protocol with Dr. Chason]. Completed two failed IUIs without much change to protocol...I was only seen by Dr. Chason a few times. I saw a different doctor or nurse almost every time I had an appointment...My husband and I have multiple factors effecting our fertility. We should have never been counseled to start with IUI first. It should have been recommended to go straight to IVF. She provided conflicting protocols, at first saying femara would be best because of my PCOS but then having me on clomid. The few appointments we did see her for she was always late and by more than 10-15 minutes.
You’re going to be doing a lot of waiting [at Shady Grove Fertility-Annapolis]...[Nurses are] Cold. No empathy. Not very understanding of all the factors going into this. Not considerate about the amount of time off required for all appointments...I had to constantly be on top of them to get results and get meds ordered and get appointments scheduled. It was exhausting...$2000 for two rounds IUI. Even though monitoring was basically the same every day, I had varying costs in bills due to how the procedures were coded to my insurance.
