Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Kat Lin is an exceptional physician who has played a pivotal role in our fertility journey. Her attention to detail and the way she delved into our medical history to explain the reasons behind our previous treatment failures were truly enlightening. Dr. Lin's explanations were thorough and left no room for confusion. She not only identified the issues but also laid out a clear plan for how she intended to make changes to improve our chances of success. One of the standout qualities of Dr. Lin is her understanding of our specific health challenges and her commitment to addressing them before proceeding with any procedures.
I had a positive experience at Sound Fertility clinic. From the moment of initial consultation, the staff treated us with warmth, compassion, and understanding. They took the time to listen to our concerns, answer our questions, and tailor a treatment plan that suited our unique needs. It felt like they genuinely cared about our journey to parenthood and didn't treat us as just another patient...The nursing staff at this clinic is incredibly responsive and attentive. Their willingness to promptly address inquiries and concerns through the portal messages was a significant convenience.

Dr. Lin's direct approach, backed by solid research, instilled a high level of trust in her expertise. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr. Kat Lin's direct and at times blunt approach may not be for everyone, but it's clear that her intentions are in the best interest of her patients. She doesn't sugarcoat things and tells it like it is. While this can be initially surprising, we found it refreshing because it meant there was no room for misinterpretation or false hope. She's straightforward about the challenges and the necessary steps, which is ultimately what we needed.

The nursing staff at this clinic is incredibly responsive and attentive. Their willingness to promptly address inquiries and concerns through the portal messages was a significant convenience. Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
Compassionate Care: From the moment we walked through their doors, we felt like more than just patients. The staff and medical professionals treated us with empathy, understanding, and a genuine desire to help us achieve our family-building goals. Personalized Approach: The clinic's commitment to tailoring treatments to each individual's unique circumstances was evident. They took the time to understand our history, health challenges, and specific needs, ensuring that our care was truly personalized. While my overall experience at the clinic was positive, there was one notable setback during my treatment - the administration of the IV. Having small veins, I understood that it could be a bit tricky, but it took a total of seven attempts before they successfully inserted the IV. Needless to say, it was an exceedingly frustrating visit, and it left me feeling quite disheartened. In light of this ordeal, I decided to share my experience with Dr. Kat Lin via email. To my satisfaction, she responded promptly and with a commendable level of seriousness. Within just a few days, she had conducted thorough investigations and provided me with detailed findings. What stood out was her proactive approach in outlining plans for improvements to prevent such situations in the future. Furthermore, I truly appreciated her willingness to offer me the option of receiving IV treatment outside of the clinic as an alternative. This gesture not only highlighted the clinic's commitment to patient comfort but also showcased their dedication to addressing concerns and continuously enhancing the quality of care provided. While the IV experience was a hiccup in an otherwise positive journey, Dr. Lin's response and the clinic's proactive stance in improving their services left a lasting positive impression.

All of our results were given in person [by Dr. Lin], we were encouraged to ask questions, and overall I truly felt like treatment was calibrated to me instead of one size fits all...was meticulous in explaining everything we'd already been through, what additional tests should be done, and what her recommendations were. For the first time, I actually understood my body and my chances for having a family! Dr. Lin was extremely knowledgeable and took a personalized approach to care, at every step she took time to make sure that we were optimizing our chances.
Everything about this clinic [Sound Fertility Care] is great, especially if you value a personalized approach to fertility treatments. Dr. Lin and all the staff are kind, patient, transparent, and knowledgeable...Jane and Paulinna were both wonderful, they remembered who I am and always asked about vacations, work, etc. Victoria, the billing specialist, went above and beyond to figure out a situation with Progyny. I was a wreck when we went for our first consultation at SRC, thanks to the time and care given by the team I feel like myself again. :)
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
My experience with Dr. Lin was extremely positive, especially when compared with the previous fertility doctor I'd seen. Dr. Lin was meticulous in explaining everything we'd already been through, what additional tests should be done, and what her recommendations were. For the first time, I actually understood my body and my chances for having a family! Dr. Lin was extremely knowledgeable and took a personalized approach to care, at every step she took time to make sure that we were optimizing our chances.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Trust Dr. Lin. Other clinics can seem like they have faster turnaround, but that's because they're basically running an assembly line. Dr. Lin may want to do more tests or tweak your timeline/treatment, but it's because she's personalizing your treatment based on you and how you respond. This is a stressful time and it can be so hard to wait, but it will be worth it!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Before Sound Fertility Care we had gone through two unsuccessful egg retrievals at another clinic with no genetically normal embryos. By the time we met with Dr. Lin we were tired, frustrated, and out of hope. Dr. Lin took the time to explain the other clinic's results (we'd never heard about or seen the PGS report from the other clinic until Dr. Lin told us), went through the details of what to expect and how the protocol would change, and has stayed in touch all the way through. All of our results were given in person, we were encouraged to ask questions, and overall I truly felt like treatment was calibrated to me instead of one size fits all. Dr. Lin's staff is also incredible! Jane and Paulinna were both wonderful, they remembered who I am and always asked about vacations, work, etc. Victoria, the billing specialist, went above and beyond to figure out a situation with Progyny. I was a wreck when we went for our first consultation at SRC, thanks to the time and care given by the team I feel like myself again. :)
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
Long Lupron protocol, the rationale being that I'd gone through two typical antagonist protocols at another clinic but had no normal embryos (23 eggs, 8 blastocysts, 0 normal over 2 tries). Dr. Lin thought that a different protocol might have better results for me. Medications used: Lupron, Gonal-F, Menopur, Ganirelix, plus growth hormone. Results: 21 eggs, 17 fertilized, 6 blastocysts (3 day 5, 3 day 6), 3 PGS normal. We transferred the best one of the three on April 7 and I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant!
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA - Washington State.
Jane and Paulinna are fantastic! They constantly sync with Dr. Lin and are up to date on what's going on with you, so I never felt like there was any miscommunication. They were both responsive, helpful, and sympathetic (I definitely cried in that office more than once and never felt ashamed).

Everything about this clinic is great, especially if you value a personalized approach to fertility treatments. Dr. Lin and all the staff are kind, patient, transparent, and knowledgeable. For those of you who have had unsuccessful treatments at other clinics where you felt like just a number: please, take a deep breath and make an appointment at Sound Fertility Care.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
Everything was covered by Progyny, so unsure of out of pocket cost.

Dr Lin's clinic is small- it's just her! She was at all of our appointments, took the time to answer every single question we ever had, without ever rushing us out the door. She sat through plenty of tears and freak outs and always treated us compassionately...She was warm and friendly, candid, honest, and full of information. We were treated like humans who were dealing with a sensitive topic. I always felt like she took my opinions seriously as well, which was really important to me.
After a second failed transfer [at Sound Fertility Care], we started to investigate my uterus and found inflammation. Our next transfer was a chemical. But, now we were out of embryos. This time, we decided to do a little embryos banking as we finally had insurance...I absolutely loved each and every nurse that I dealt with...I went there for a long time, so I got to know all of them! My only real complaint about the clinic as a whole was there was sometimes a lack of communication between the Dr and the nurse staff, and I sometimes felt like I was needing to follow up and remind people of new plans.

Dr Lin is terrific! I never felt like I was in a baby making factory, like I've heard my friends describe their clinics. She was warm and friendly, candid, honest, and full of information. Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
We started with a typical antagonist protocol, as on the surface I seemed like a straightforward patient. Young, no obvious problems, etc. Our first IVf cycle was kind of a disaster, because all our embryos dropped off after Day 3, after having had a good start. The second cycle, we tweaked things to deal with that Day 3 drop off. We did a long lupron protocol, and froze all Day 1. Later, we transferred on Day 3 and were able to save some additional embryos on Day 5. After a second failed transfer, we started to investigate my uterus and found inflammation. Our next transfer was a chemical. But, now we were out of embryos. This time, we decided to do a little embryos banking as we finally had insurance. For our 3rd egg retrieval, we went back to an antagonist protocol but added in human growth Hormone, and we were able to freeze 6 embryos! The following cycle, we did the same thing and froze an additional 5 embryos. We were able to do PGS testing this time because of that insurance, and we found that only 3 were normal, which is pretty typical of endometriosis patients. Now that we finally had some quality tested embryos, we did a course of Lupron to quiet any endometriosis before attempting another transfer- this time which was successful!
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA - Washington State.
I absolutely loved each and every nurse that I dealt with at Sound Fertility. I went there for a long time, so I got to know all of them! My only real complaint about the clinic as a whole was there was sometimes a lack of communication between the Dr and the nurse staff, and I sometimes felt like I was needing to follow up and remind people of new plans. I know that this is often the nature of this branch of medicine, because you have to change things daily to deal with peoples bodies, and, Dr Lin wants to help everyone when one person can only do so much. I'm a really anal person anyways, so it wasn't a big deal as I was constantly going over my own treatments plans, but I could see this becoming a problem for someone else.
Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
I think I answered this more under the nurse section, but, this clinic was rather new when I started going to them, so it took some time to find their grove and get communication going smoothly. The billing department was having trouble when we started going, so we often never had any financial counseling. Thankfully, we eventually got insurance and didn't need to deal with the billing department anymore, but it looks like they have a great person in there now!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
The billing was murky in the beginning because of changing staff, but I believe I paid roughly $35k for two egg retrievals, 2 or 3 transfers, one IUI, and initial testing. The rest of my treatments were under insurance. Also, my medications were roughly $5k per egg retrieval, and $2k per FET.

Dr. Kat was great with our first round of IVF, very positive and warm bedside manners. She also took our case to heart and we felt that she really cared about the outcome. When we went back to try again, she was very candid with us about potential risks and honestly a little pushy and we didn't feel listened to and that she was trying to push what she wanted to do with treatment...She was great to work with at first, we just felt that she was no longer the right fit moving forward.

When we went back to try again, she was very candid with us about potential risks and honestly a little pushy and we didn't feel listened to and that she was trying to push what she wanted to do with treatment. However, our case is unique and because of our beliefs we just weren't open to certain options, so I'm sure others experiences will be better! She was great to work with at first, we just felt that she was no longer the right fit moving forward.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Be honest about what YOU want to do, listen to her guidance, but ultimately you should decide how to proceed with treatment.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
She took the time to think about our individual situation and gave advice based on what she thought was best.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
We did a 3-day fresh embryo transfer of 2 embryos, resulting in a singleton pregnancy. However, I miscarried after a few weeks. I don't think we would have gotten that far though if we had done genetic testing and waited the extra days. Kat's decision making on the spot was perfect for moving us forward.

IVF - around $20,000 with meds
Describe Kat Lin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA - Washington State.
She had originally advised against multiple embryo transfers, and we were educated about the risks. We ended up transferring 2 to give them a better chance of implanting.

Dr. Lin and her team always refer to me by name and ask questions like "how is your day going?"...She's very on top of things and I know I'm in good hands with her...have had a bit more difficulty the second time around—both times she is making the decisions about how to proceed, even if she's not the one I see for an ultrasound....
[nurses at Sound Fertility Care] Very kind, caring, and welcoming. Their optimism and cheer is exactly what I need sometimes when things don't go as planned (or it's just a hard day). They are also great at communicating with me via the portal—they always respond quickly and provide clear instructions on my next steps...easy it is to schedule, how small they are, their early morning appt times, and most importantly the team that works there....
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
She's very on top of things and I know I'm in good hands with her. I trust her, because I've now had one baby from TI cycles that were relatively easy, but also have had a bit more difficulty the second time around—both times she is making the decisions about how to proceed, even if she's not the one I see for an ultrasound. In my experience, every decision she has made was the right decision, but she's also very willing to work with me and hear what I want/make recommendations based on that.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Trust her if you're able to, because she really knows what she's doing! I know that's hard with something so big, but I do think fully trusting Dr. Lin has helped me the second time around.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr. Lin and her team always refer to me by name and ask questions like "how is your day going?" I've had people pop in during blood draws just to say hi and the front desk is always welcoming and seems to know who I am. It's really all the little things that make the difference.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
5mg Letrozole for 5 cycles (3 for baby #1, 2 for hopeful #2) 7.5mg Letrozole for 1 cycle Ovidrel for 1 cycle Everything we did was tailored around my PCOS and what happened in my previous cycle(s). When I didn't respond to Letrozole we tried an increased dose. And when I had a natural cycle where I had a dominant follicle but didn't ovulate I was offered Ovidrel. That said, it's always a choice that's presented to me with the reasoning behind the suggestion, which I always appreciate.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA - Washington State.
Very kind, caring, and welcoming. Their optimism and cheer is exactly what I need sometimes when things don't go as planned (or it's just a hard day). They are also great at communicating with me via the portal—they always respond quickly and provide clear instructions on my next steps. And they're very aware of how I'm feeling at any given time, particularly during procedures that can be painful or stressful.
Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
I'm a return patient, we had a successful pregnancy and are now back for #2. We were happy with the clinic for the first baby but at that time I would describe the team as rather direct. In comparison, I feel that this time they are really working to connect with patients and provide what each patient needs (not just medically but also in a supportive way). I also think the clinic has improved with running on time. I wouldn't say that they are 100% on time, but they are significantly better than when I was here in 2019. And now, (in 2022) I know that when they are running behind it's because another patient required a little more time (and I say this because I've had multiple occasions where Dr. Lin has run over with me because it was necessary). But I think they do what they can to run on time, or even early sometimes! My favorite parts about this clinic are how easy it is to schedule, how small they are, their early morning appt times, and most importantly the team that works there. For me, coming here is a good experience from the front desk, on.

[Dr. Lin] has thorough knowledge of everything related to infertility and it was reassuring to be her patient. She took care of testing and treating all the possible medical issues before proceeding with the transfer. When our first embryo failed to thaw and the embryologist mistakenly told us the gender of our embryos, she was kind enough to call us and apologize even though it wasn't her fault.
Strengths of the clinic [at Sound Fertility Care]: -Clean -Organized -Sanitized... --Weaknesses of the clinic: -Delay even during appointed times. We had to wait a long time to be seen. -Paid parking...There was a new associate at the clinic and she more than once messed up with providing me information on the correct protocol and my correct medicine. After I told Paulinna, she took care of my charts and medicines so I didn't have any more issues.
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
We were impressed with Dr. Lin on the first visit with her. We had read good reviews about her online and that meeting confirmed that we would be continuing our treatment with her. She has thorough knowledge of everything related to infertility and it was reassuring to be her patient. Don't expect any sugarcoating when it comes to the problems or the results - be prepared for the facts.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Mostly the team was very considerate towards us and we were kept in loop of what was happening. Dr.Lin took care to cover every issue imaginable. But sometimes a little more details with the process would have helped, especially we didn't know what questions to ask since it was our first time with these treatments.

--IVF - Menopur , GonalF and leuprotide trigger[9eggs, 3 mature and 2 pgs tested] --FET - Delestrogen, PIO and Estrace[success] --Polyp removal
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA - Washington State. (Assigned nurse: Paulinna)
Paulinna was great during all the ultrasounds. Kept me in loop with what was happening during my ultrasounds. I received timely messages from her after the appointments. After we had got our positive, she was extremely helpful during the ultrasounds so that my husband, who was on Facetime(due to covid restrictions), could see and hear everything. Danialla was so good with the blood draws. Usually my blood draws are very hard with other nurses , but Danialla was a pro!
Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
--Strengths of the clinic: -Clean -Organized -Sanitized(very reassuring during covid) --Weaknesses of the clinic: -Delay even during appointed times. We had to wait a long time to be seen. -Paid parking
Describe Kat Lin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA - Washington State.
We had a preference for single transfer.
What specific things went wrong at RMA - Washington State?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA - Washington State.
There was a new associate at the clinic and she more than once messed up with providing me information on the correct protocol and my correct medicine. After I told Paulinna, she took care of my charts and medicines so I didn't have any more issues.

Dr. Lin strong prefers to transfer 1 embryo at a time especially if it is PGS tested...took a personal approach with husband and I. She really took the time to investigate my case. She tested to see if I had endometrosis. Also, she tested my husband's sperm mobility. Also, she removed polyps in my uterus as well to ensure my embroy transfer would go well...I was impressed right with her knowledge on my case and the cutting research that she does in fertility research. She sent me article and even nutrition tips. I felt right away she was invested in my journey to have a child.
All of the staff [at Sound Fertility Care] was extremely responsible and knowledgeable. They were very responsive and helpful. I do not have any criticisms of them...They [monitoring appointments] were well oiled machine and they did things pretty quickly and efficiently...The team is very knowledgeable but is small and mighty. It's not a big operation but I think that's what makes this clinic special. They make sure they don't take on too many patients that they can't treat. There are some restrictions, they do cycles at certain times unlike other clinics but my husband I had a lot of success with them. It is important to be willing to work with them.
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr. Lin is very thorough and you can tell this is her life passion. I do not have any criticisms of her. At Seattle Reproductive Medicine, I had different doctors doing different procedures. I was impressed right with her knowledge on my case and the cutting research that she does in fertility research. She sent me article and even nutrition tips. I felt right away she was invested in my journey to have a child.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
To do IVF, you have to be invested. You can't just go through the emotions and listen to Dr. Lin and her care team and respect their time. They are working with a lot of patients.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr. Lin took a personal approach with husband and I. She really took the time to investigate my case. She tested to see if I had endometrosis. Also, she tested my husband's sperm mobility. Also, she removed polyps in my uterus as well to ensure my embroy transfer would go well. She is a gifted surgeon and up on the latest fertility research and does great job of explaining things. I always felt like I was in good hands.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
Dr. Lin had made me do duo stimulation for my egg retrieval. Also, she had me do growth hormone as well which was helpful. I had low ovarian reserve and was poor responder to the fertility drugs. Also, I think not doing ICSYS was helpful. My husband's sperm motility was good and we were able to fertilize more eggs and get 5 viable embryos (that were PGS Tested)

She recommended DuoStim because of my age (42) and we used donor sperm for the first cycle and my husband’s sperm for the second. Up until that point, RE’s has told me ours was an egg quality problem. We knew we had male factor and my eggs had to undergo ICSI so she suggested we try donor sperm which did not require ICSI, and we got a genetically normal embryo out of that strategy...She supported, maybe even preferred genetically screening embryos and she and I agreed that transferring only one of those at a time was prudent.
There have been a couple different front desk coordinator’s since I started my care [at Sound Fertility Center]...By far the best is Louisa. She is warm and welcoming and funny with folks entering the office...What I appreciated most about her [nurse] was that when I would ask her a question, and she would first look at my medical records before answering. I always thought the answer was informed by my particular case. She also has a great sense of humor, a deep intellect and gives great hugs!
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
She takes time, I never felt rushed in raising one more concern. I brought papers and studies to her and if she didn’t know the authors, which was often the case, she dug into them with me. I truly felt like a participant in my own care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Be patient, she is usually running behind, but you will be thankful she takes all the time that’s needed with you when it is your turn. Best to go with a little bit of work to do or a book. Her staff take it all in stride and make waiting bearable.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr Lin remembers, or has systems in place to help her remember, all of my details. She takes time to connect with her patients as people and I feel she genuinely cares about her patients and their outcomes. I also have the utmost respect for her knowledge base and problem solving skills which makes me feel I’m in very competent hands.

There have been a couple different front desk coordinator’s since I started my care there. By far the best is Louisa. She is warm and welcoming and funny with folks entering the office. She was briefly my care coordinator as well but I think her talents are best used at the front desk, keeping the flow of traffic moving, adjusting expectations when Dr L is running late and making people feel warm and welcome.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
Her IVF cycles are more expensive (we are out of pocket) than SRM and PNWF but the amount of her undivided attention is far and away more than I experienced at those other clinics. She is 100% with it

Dr. Lin has a wealth of experience in female and make factor infertility. She wanted to get to know us, not just our fertility history. Great doctor, great clinical staff [Sound Fertility Care], and scheduling is easy. Appointments are often behind, because you see Dr. Lin in almost every visit. Billing and financial counseling need improvement. Billing is slow and estimates are not always accurate. We have provided Dr. Lin with feedback, which she appreciated, but I’m not sure how much it’s improved.... Per cycle: IUI $895 (included visits, ultrasound, insemination) Semen testing & prep: $175.00 Meds $300

She [Dr. Kat Lin] told my husband she was going to “cure” him and write a research paper about it. What actually happened was that she put him on mediation 5 weeks before our retrieval that caused his low sperm count to go to zero and meaning that instead of fertilizing eggs, we had to freeze them all. At our initial consultation, I specifically asked her if my husband’s low count would be an issue and she said it wouldn’t, but her own hubris led her to implement an unproven course of treatment that had adverse effects even though we were only weeks from retrieval. When I begged her to try a treatment that would counteract the impact of the original treatment she loudly told me that she was the doctor, not me. However, after she finally relented, his sperm returned after 60 days on the additional treatment. Her team also didn’t give me my prescription info in enough time for me to receive the order in time to keep our timeline. Despite the fact that this was their error, Dr. Lin insisted that I needed to pay her to give me medication, even though I could not give her the presc
we had to freeze all eggs [at Sound Fertility Care] and we believe that impacted the fertilization rate overall, leading to only 2 5-days blasts out of the 28 eggs...staff was nice, but completely disorganized. We had to badger them to get any answers. I also seemed to see a different person every time I went...provided a flat fee without much explanation for what was included...“financial counselor” could not explain what was included in the cost. After she made some medical errors that led to additional treatment. She insisted we pay more for treatment, even though it was her own error.
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr Lin was extremely arrogant. We saw her because our main fertility issue was due to male factor and she claims to be an expert. She claimed that she was the only one who figured out my husband’s issue, even though I told her that we suspected that issue at our initial consult. She told my husband she was going to “cure” him and write a research paper about it. What actually happened was that she put him on mediation 5 weeks before our retrieval that caused his low sperm count to go to zero and meaning that instead of fertilizing eggs, we had to freeze them all. However, after she finally relented, his sperm returned after 60 days on the additional treatment. Her team also didn’t give me my prescription info in enough time for me to receive the order in time to keep our timeline. Despite the fact that this was their error, Dr. Lin insisted that I needed to pay her to give me medication, even though I could not give her the prescription I ordered. The medication she gave me was all labeled “free sample”, so she essentially wanted me to pay her for something she hadn’t paid for. I refused and she eventually relented, because I had proof that I had sent several reminders to her staff to get me the prescription information and they still hadn’t gotten it to me on time. Dr. Lin would also regularly dismiss concerns during appointments and on several occasions I heard her yelling about other patients saying appointments were a “complete waste of my time”.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
In my experience, there are reproductive endocrinologists who are in assistive reproduction for the money and those who are in it for the science / medicine. Dr. Lin is clearly in it for the money, so proceed accordingly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
After we initially went in for a consultation with Dr Lin, we couldn’t get anyone to call us back. Then as the new month roller around, we got a scolding message from Dr Lin reprimanding us for not scheduling a follow up (even though I had left several messages by phone and email to schedule a follow up) and a call from her “financial counselor” telling us that if we wanted to proceed, we needed to give them a full payment in three days. We felt rushed. It also seemed like Dr Lin had a quota for the month and was made the decision late in the month that we were needed to meet her quota. I also had to repeatedly call and email multiple times every step of the way in order to keep the clinic on track. They messed up both my blood work and my husband’s blood work initially and didn’t give me prescription info until it was too late for me to receive my meds on time, despite several requests and reminders on my part.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
I had high AMH for my age and no identified fertility issues. Dr. Lin used a standard protocol that produced 28 mature eggs. I had mild OHSS after the procedure. She treated my husband with hCG shots that took his low count to zero. She finally added anastrozole, which brought his count back to where it was before the hcg. Unfortunately, we had to freeze all eggs and we believe that impacted the fertilization rate overall, leading to only 2 5-days blasts out of the 28 eggs.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA - Washington State.
Overall, Dr. Lin’s staff was nice, but completely disorganized. We had to badger them to get any answers. I also seemed to see a different person every time I went. Finally, not all of her staff members were good at taking blood samples (a big part of fertility treatment). One of them was so bad that she caused scarring on my only reliable vein...scarring that persists to this day (2 years later).
Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
The clinic is completely disorganized. It felt like we were rushed into a decision. The “financial counselor” could not explain key aspects of the treatment costs. I had to badger them to get anything to happen and despite that, they made mistakes at several points along the way, mistakes I had proof of thanks to the patient portal. Finally, Dr. Lin is extremely arrogant. She seemed to think her degrees should make up for her poor service and poor judgment. She even told me which private school she attended for high school, which I found really odd. I don’t care where a doctor went to school, I care about their ability to address my medical issues.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
Dr. Lin’s office provided a flat fee without much explanation for what was included. In fact, her “financial counselor” could not explain what was included in the cost. After she made some medical errors that led to additional treatment. She insisted we pay more for treatment, even though it was her own error.

She [Dr. Kat Lin] always listened to my concerns, answered my questions thoroughly (and multiple times in different ways when I didn’t understand), and even challenged me when I wanted to do things one way but she recommended other ways ...I did 5 rounds of IUI. I was supposed to do 6 before insurance would cover a round of IVF but Dr. Lin didn't want to do another around because she was confident it wouldn't work again and didn't want to put me through this, so she wrote a letter to my insurance. A couple weeks later we got approval to move forward with IVF. With the egg retrieval we got 8 eggs, 2 made it to day 5 and did a fresh transfer with one and froze the other. Originally my husband and I wanted to transfer both (we were open to having twins if that happened) but Dr. Lin sat us down to walk through the potential risks associated and ultimately we decided to take our chances with one and it was a success.
I was used to waiting in Doctor’s lobbies for far too long and then feeling rushed once I got to see the Doctor because they were so busy. If you are looking for a Doctor (and nurses and staff) who will go through the emotional infertility journey with you and has a genuine interest in learning about you and your body and what’s going on, Dr. Lin with Sound Fertility is wonderful at just that. I wanted a place where I felt comfortable and cared for since this can be a very hard time. I was used to waiting in Doctor’s lobbies for far too long and then feeling rushed once I got to see the Doctor because they were so busy. With Dr. Lin, I never felt that way even though I know she is busy. She always listened to my concerns, answered my questions thoroughly (and multiple times in different ways when I didn’t understand), and even challenged me when I wanted to do things one way but she recommended other ways (which worked out to our benefit and I’m forever grateful to her for this). Along the way we had multiple set backs but Dr. Lin and her staff always kept me and my husband informed and calm and focused on the end goal. This was beyond helpful because it’s hard to not lose hope but as cheesy as it sounds Dr. Lin and the nurses helped us not stay in that place for long and held our hands through this. It was great to go somewhere where I could laugh (and cry multiple times) with genuine people. In my humble opinion, this is necessary with something as fragile as infertility. Another positive is that Dr. Lin is the only Doctor you will see which creates a consistent, well informed relationship where she can make the best decisions because she knows your situation in and out which is hugely valuable in an emotionally stressful time. I just had my first baby and my husband and I will be going back to see Dr. Lin and staff so they can help us once again, when the time is right, for baby #2.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Be patient with the process, trust Dr. Lin and don't give up

I became close with most of the staff at Sound Fertility. I became so close with one nurse, Juniper, that she was my Montrice when I gave birth to my baby girl. The staff was always so kind and helpful throughout the process.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
I was lucky in the fact that the insurance with my job covered infertility.
Describe Kat Lin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA - Washington State.
I trusted Dr. Lin but pushed back on her with this decision. She welcomed my reasoning and really wanted to understand why. From there we had a meeting going through everything associated with a multiple embryo transfer versus a single and discussed both our view and why we wanted multiple and she discussed her view and why she thought a single for our situation the first time was best.

She [Dr. Kat Lin] takes time to build relationships with her patients... I had some bleeding at 6 weeks. I called her after hours, crying and scared. She was so reassuring and calm. She even called me several hours later to see how I was feeling - both emotionally and physically. This was a Saturday night! She has always gone above and beyond to make sure we feel cared about and because of that, we trust her wholeheartedly.
The primary strength of Sound Fertility Care is that it is a one doctor practice. It makes all the difference to have Dr. Lin at every appointment, doing every procedure. Weakness would be nursing staff turnover, parking (its $7 every time I visit the clinic, which adds up!), and I hear there is a waitlist, although that has never applied to me...There seems to be a lot of turnover with the nursing staff - so I am not sure what that means about the practice. That said, she has been hiring amazing nurses and a lot of them are actually midwives so the compassion and bond we have with them is incredible. Dr. Lin has hired a staff of very smart, compassionate females.
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr. Lin is incredible. She is very obviously brilliant and exceptional in her field. We have always felt so confident in her abilities as an RE. On top of that, she is personable, relatable, kind, and compassionate. She takes time to build relationships with her patients, even though I don't understand how she could find the time (or the brain space!). We always felt like she cared about us and listened to us. After our second round of IVF that resulted in our very first pregnancy, I had some bleeding at 6 weeks. I called her after hours, crying and scared. She was so reassuring and calm. She even called me several hours later to see how I was feeling - both emotionally and physically. This was a Saturday night! She has always gone above and beyond to make sure we feel cared about and because of that, we trust her wholeheartedly.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Be patient, ask questions. Know you are in the best hands possible with Dr. Lin.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Kat has an incredible memory. She remembers details we told her in passing. I have always felt like she is listening to everything we say and cares about how we are feeling. I feel like she takes time to know us, as people and as a couple. The whole reason we went with Dr. Lin is because she treated us like a human and not a number. She truly cares about her patients and their success.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
I don't totally remember (sorry!) but generally - I had both of my fallopian tubes removed due to blockage. Dr. Lin helped me through that surgery. Then we did a round of IVF with a single embryo fresh transfer. The birth control I was on prior to the cycle really suppressed my system so we had a hard time with the stimulation phase - which came as a surprise to all of us. The embryo transfer did not result in a pregnancy. So for the next round, Dr. Lin made several adjustments and I ended up over stimulating! Which was actually a better outcome, as we were able to freeze three embryos for later transfer while my body healed. Our frozen transfer was so easy, no surprises, and had no complications. We transferred two frozen embryos and I got pregnant with my daughter! I am currently under the care of Dr. Lin for an FET, hoping for a sibling!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
Cost was a major factor for our first round, as we were paying out of pocket. Dr. Lin's clinic is one of the lowest IVF costs in Seattle.
Describe Kat Lin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA - Washington State.
At first, because I was only 29, we elected to transfer one fresh embryo. That cycle was not successful. So the following round, we transferred two (FET) and that resulted in a singleton pregnancy. For our current round, we also plan to transfer two embryos, since that seemed to work last time! She did originally encouraged us to only transfer one the first time - but we all made adjustments after that cycle failed and moving forward we plan on transferring two whenever possible.

Our experience with Kat Lin differs from other patients because we are long distance patients. After numerous failures on her part, we ended up switching doctors. If others were a patient living in Seattle, she might be completely different. I found her to be extremely intelligent but very busy. She always seemed a bit rushed and a little stressed...she missed phone appointments four times within the course of a month
Compared to the nursing staff at the other clinic we used, this nursing staff [at Sound Fertility Care] is positively abysmal. When pursuing IVF, you would expect them to answer portal messages but sometimes it would take a week or two for them to get back to me... be cautious if you are a patient that does not live close as you may get shoved to the side during her busy schedule...We never got to a treatment plan. Once we had finally decided to pursue IVF, Dr. Lin stopped attending scheduled phone conversations.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Do not choose her as a doctor if you are needing long distance treatment.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
My husband and I have been long distance patients throughout out infertility journey. During our initial visit, we underwent a TON of testing and she informed us that she would set aside time to speak with us once all of the testing was complete. During our follow-up, we asked if we could speak with her, she seemed frustrated that we were asking but reluctantly gave in, then and she was rushed and annoyed during the conversation. After traveling thousands of miles to see her, I expected better. Then, she missed phone appointments four times within the course of a month (September 12 at 1:00, September 21 at 3:45, September 22 at 1:15, September 22 at 4:00). Each time I had to call the clinic and let them know she had failed to call in. Only once did the clinic apologize. After the last appointment, I stopped trying and found another clinic. It is my opinion that her practice grew too big too quickly and she is unable to adequately cover the number of patients under her care.

With my other clinic, I could expect a response within 24 hours, no matter what.
Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
Kat Lin is very accomplished and the office is nice. She also has the added benefit of being certified in both male and female factor infertility. However, be cautious if you are a patient that does not live close as you may get shoved to the side during her busy schedule.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
The projected cost of treatment was MUCH more expensive than our other clinic.

I felt well cared for under Dr. Lin. She explained procedures and possible outcomes thoroughly. I felt like she cared about me as a person and would be there every step of the way through the IVF process.... She seemed very involved with her practice and patients. She made it clear she would be the one handling most of the procedures.... Dr. Lin herself is great. However, it is the disorganization of the other staff, both in office procedures and in financial management, that ultimately made me go back to another clinic for my fertility care.
I liked Dr. Lin immensely but could not get past the disorganization of the office [Sound Fertility Care], especially regarding financials, and could not continue my treatment there.... The office manager also made.me feel terrible that I couldn't get pregnant.... She also wrote all the costs out by hand while I was meeting with her, resulting in a disorganized, hard to understand mess of how much certain cycles would cost. I had to have her explain the different options multiple times because it was so unclear.

Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
I absolutely hated the clinic and office manager / Financial Coordinator. Nothing was transparent. I couldn't get a straight answer in terms of how much I would have to pay out-of-pocket. The office manager also made.me feel terrible that I couldn't get pregnant. It seemed like she thrived on sadness. She also wrote all the costs out by hand while I was meeting with her, resulting in a disorganized, hard to understand mess of how much certain cycles would cost. I had to have her explain the different options multiple times because it was so unclear. I ultimately went back to another clinic because they had organized, itemized print outs of how much everything would cost. I cannot recommend the clinic based on that woman's demeanor and lack of clarity regarding financials.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
It was hard to get a straight answer but it seemed comparatively more than the other major clinic in town.

It was the lack of clarity in costs. I struggled to receive a straight answer. It was only because I had paperwork from another clinic that I knew what questions to ask. I liked Dr. Lin immensely but could not get past the disorganization of the office, especially regarding financials, and could not continue my treatment there.

Saw Dr. Lin at every visit...made us feel at home from the start. She did a great job analyzing my husband and my communication styles and adapted her style to fit ours. She took on my fairly complicated history of losses and was basically like “I don’t know what has caused this in the past, but we’re going to do everything we can to get you a healthy baby.” She was optimistic and reassuring from the start. Also she’s ridiculously smart and a great doctor!
Started with IVF, conventional treatment [at Sound Fertility Care]. I had 44 active follicles so we dialed back the stims. I still had 30 eggs retrieved, 28 were mature, 12 made it to freeze, 7 were PGS normal...The team is so awesome! After you see dr Lin they will spend a ton of time with you teaching about injections or just talking you through the upcoming procedures. I’m the type of person that wants to have all of the info possible, they were happy to give it to me!

Dr. Lin is a wonderful, brilliant doctor who genuinely cares about her patients. I loved that I saw her every visit and could always reach her. But she's the only doctor at Sound Fertility, which comes at a cost. I know some think she has a bad bedside manner, but I disagree. She treats me like I'm a smart person and she's not there to be my therapist - she's too busy for that.... Everything Dr. Lin did felt specific to my condition. She frequently asked me about what I wanted and let me contribute to my treatment decision-making.
Strengths [for Sound Fertility Care]: It's a small clinic so everyone knows your name. Weaknesses: Wait time is terrible because it's small, billing is absolutely horrific. It's also frustrating to have to rely on labs and certain tests at other clinics because this office is so small.... $3500 for FET, $11K basic IVF cycle without meds, transfer, anesthesia, genetic testing, etc., $1200 IUI

[Dr. Lin is] So caring but yet realistic about treatment...We saw her for every visit. Wait times for appointments were sometimes long but she is thw only doctor there. Evertone [at Sound Fertility Care] was great. Communicated test results same day and everyone was very understanding and caring...Location is difficult to find parking, although convenient if using public transportation. She is busy and can book up quickly and appointments often run late so wait times can be long. Staff and everyone was great. We have had somr confusion with the finance department thete but it was just a lack of communication. We did not have this issue until we stopped seeing her.

We tried 3 natural cycles. First 2 using opks with no trigger. The 3rd cycle using opks and a trigger. All negative cycles. We tried natural cycles first because I didn't have any issues ovulating or producing a mature egg each month. 4th cycle was a combination of letrozole and folistim which produced 2 mature follicles resulting in a positive beta. We tried medicated cycle to increase our chances with 2 eggs vs. 1.

Dr Lin seemed to genuinely want our transfer to work on the first try. She did an ERA test beforehand...The PGS testing was done at a clinic that tested for many more abnormalities [than my previous clinic]...And everything she did worked, because I have a beautiful 5 month old son now thanks to her!...she will be there for you if needed any day of the week...She did not see us like a number, she recognized us and remembered things we talked about and always was upbeat and positive.
[the nurses at Sound Fertility Care were] Very caring and thoughtful. Didn't feel like a "patient" but more like a family member...Even though Dr Lin is the only doctor, she will be there for you if needed any day of the week. They dont treat you like a number at Sound Fertility, you feel like family. The only weakness I can think of is seattle parking, it gets expensive...ERA test $870 out of pocket. Monitoring for the ERA (u/s and blood work) -$540. Matrix anesthesia for egg retrieval-$650. Meds (for egg retrieval and transfer)-$9837.24. Coopergenomics(pgs testing)-$1050. Dr charges-two check payments made to sound fertility of 13,325 and 4,180. The self pay package for one IVF cycle is 13,325. I’m not sure what the 4,180 was for. So out of pocket roughly $30,452.24, may be more, but this is all I have documented in my notes,
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Other fertility doctors could learn a thing or two from Dr Lin. She is compassionate, honest, caring, and seems to honestly want to figure out the reason for our unexplained infertility. The other clinic I went to (pnwf) seemed to look at me like a number, or a dollar sign. The more ivf transfers the more money they get. But Dr Lin seemed to genuinely want our transfer to work on the first try. She did an ERA test beforehand, pnwf didn't do that. The PGS testing was done at a clinic that tested for many more abnormalities then the clinic pnwf uses. And everything she did worked, because I have a beautiful 5 month old son now thanks to her! I owe her everything, she's changed our lives forever in the best way possible.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
If Dr Lin doesn't get you pregnant, do not think it was for lack of effort. She will do everything she can to make it work.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr Lin was wonderful. She did not see us like a number, she recognized us and remembered things we talked about and always was upbeat and positive. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Lin.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
An ERA test was done 1/2/18 to determine the best day of the month to transfer an embryo (this was never done or thought of at pnwf). Pre egg retreival: End of Feb 2018 started estrogen patches. 3/3-lmp. 3/5-u/s and blood work, start Gonal-F and menopur injections. 3/7-stopped estrogen, continue Gonal-F and menopur. 3/9-u/s and blood work looked good, start Cetrotide injections. 3/10-have intercourse (out with the old sperm:). 3/13-appt w/dr lin..can't recall what for and i didn't write it down. 3/14-Gonal-F boost of 600 units, tonight trigger at 12:30am. us showed approx 11 good follicles. 3/15 egg retreival day postponed to 3/16 to give ovaries one more stim day. started doxycycline 100mg. 3/16-egg retreival day, got 10 eggs. 3/17-call from Poma there are 6 embryos. 3/22-day 5, two of the embryos made it to blastocyst. Biopsy (PGS testing) of the two done. 4/6-appt w/dr lin to go over results. We got ONE healthy embryo. FET: 5/1 started bcp. 5/8-mock transfer. 5/9-start vivelle estrogen patches, change every 2 days. 5/16-u/s and blood work, everything looking good. Started estrace pill vaginal insertion. 5/28-Transfer day! Progesterone used was crinone vaginal suppositories. This all resulted in a beautiful normal baby boy we are so in love with!!! I did use castor oil packs (ordered from amazon, not at the direction of dr lin but something i had read about) before the transfer, every night. I had never done this before, did it help give my uterus strong blood flow? Maybe. We'll probably never know.

I felt like Dr. Lin personalized the care plan based on my diagnosis very well. She was able to help me conceive by “thinking outside of the box.” She made sure that my partner and I understood every step of the plan and agreed with it...Along with the normal IVF medications, I was also given GH injections to help with possible poor ovarian response. I was also on lupron injections prior to embryo transfer to help suppress the endometriosis.
Weakness of the clinic [Sound Fertility Care] is time management. They do run late sometimes but once I was in an exam room, I did not feel rushed...did a great job at answering all my questions in a timely manner. They were also able to work around my schedule to help me make all the appointments...were very caring and helpful. I felt like I was in great hands at every visit...Each encounter was very personal. Got to know each member of the staff.

Dr. Lin is extremely caring, open-minded, stays current with research (which you’d think all Dr’s are but you’d be surprised!). Her approach is very personalized and she doesn’t just follow a recipe like so many clinics do. I truly believe because of this, not only did I get two euploids, but I am 12 weeks pregnant as I write this. It’s truly a miracle...Having one Dr. do all of my care, perform all retrievals and transfers is such a unique experience. You truly feel cared for as opposed to being another number.
Sound Fertility is a small, intimate clinic with one Dr. that does makes all decisions, performs all egg retrievals and transfers. There is a small team that support the Dr. Everyone knows you by name. I loved this environment as it made me feel supported and cared for like a human being. Everyone was kind and genuinely want the best outcome for you. Because they utilize a different clinic for their retrievals and transfers, you can be at the mercy of that clinic's tight schedule but I believe that is changing as RMA.

Dr. Lin possesses a wealth of knowledge in the field of fertility treatment, and she expertly applied it to my unique situation. Instead of opting for a one-size-fits-all approach, she carefully assessed my medical history like PCOS and ovarian cysts, lifestyle factors, and emotional well-being to devise a personalized treatment plan. This individualized attention reassured me that my care was tailored to meet my specific needs, increasing my confidence in the process. Her strategic approach to fertility treatment was apparent at every step.
The whole team at RMA/Sound Fertility Care is amazing. As soon as you step into the office you feel welcomed and in good hands. Also, I was really fortunate to have a remarkable team of healthcare professionals supporting me every step of the way. The nurse, care coordinator, and nursing staff who handled my fertility treatment were nothing short of exceptional, and their welcoming demeanor, understanding approach, and extensive knowledge made the entire process more comfortable and reassuring.
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
I recently had the privilege of undergoing fertility treatment under the care of Dr. Lin, and I cannot praise her enough for the compassionate and strategic approach she brought to the entire treatment phase. From the moment I stepped into her office, I knew I was in the hands of a knowledgeable and empathetic professional. Throughout the entire process, Dr. Lin demonstrated genuine compassion and understanding, making a potentially overwhelming and emotionally charged journey much more manageable. Her warm demeanor and ability to connect on a personal level immediately put me at ease, allowing me to openly discuss my concerns and fears without judgment. Her strategic approach to fertility treatment was apparent at every step. Dr. Lin meticulously explained each procedure, breaking down complex medical terms into easily understandable language. She encouraged me to ask questions and was always patient in providing thorough explanations. I never felt rushed during our appointments, and she made sure I felt fully informed before making any decisions. Perhaps one of the most remarkable qualities of Dr. Lin is her ability to strike the perfect balance between professionalism and empathy. She celebrated every small success with me and offered support during moments of disappointment. I never felt like just another patient; Dr. Lin treated me like a partner in this journey, and her encouragement made all the difference. Thanks to Dr. Lin's compassionate care and strategic approach, I am delighted to share that my fertility treatment was successful. The joy I feel is immeasurable, and I credit Dr. Lin for making this dream a reality.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Know that you may not see Dr. Lin in every single appointment you have at the clinic - it is a common misconception that a lot of patients have, especially those dealing with fertility treatment, but it is understandable that RMA is a small clinic with one single doctor who handles the retrieval and operations herself. However, this really shouldn't discourage other patients from engaging Dr. Lin and RMA.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
While Dr. Lin was mostly busy with the actual procedures which didn't allow for a lot of face-to-face interactions with her directly, she was always on top of my case and current situations, and it was quite obvious through how my medication doses changed or how additional procedures were added in the middle of the process that she knew what was the most appropriate for my case.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA - Washington State. (Assigned nurse: Paulinna Huynh and Taylor Martino)
From the very first encounter, the warmth and friendliness of the team were evident. The nurse, care coordinator, and nursing staff greeted me with smiles, offering a sense of comfort during what could have been an intimidating initial appointment. Their genuine compassion and willingness to listen allowed me to openly express my concerns and fears, creating a supportive environment where I felt heard and valued as an individual. Throughout the treatment journey, the level of knowledge and expertise displayed by the team was truly impressive. Both Paulinna and Taylor are highly skilled in performing procedures, always ensuring my comfort and safety during examinations and treatments. They explained each step thoroughly, dispelling any anxieties I may have had and empowering me with knowledge about the process. The care coordinator's role was pivotal in streamlining communication between various specialists and facilitating the treatment plan. Claudia's organizational skills and attention to detail ensured that nothing was overlooked, creating a seamless experience in an otherwise complex process. She was always available to answer questions, provide updates, and offer guidance, which gave me a tremendous sense of security. Together, this team of experts functioned seamlessly, demonstrating an amazing collaboration that was both reassuring and efficient. They worked hand in hand to ensure that my needs were met at every stage of the fertility treatment process. It was evident that they genuinely cared about my well-being and were dedicated to helping me achieve a successful outcome.
Describe your experience with RMA - Washington State.
I'm more than happy that I decided to reach out to RMA/Sound Fertility Care for my fertility treatment. I looked and called at least 5 different places around the Greater Seattle area to kick off the process, and RMA was one of the few places that were willing to make spaces to accommodate my short notice (I had a long international travel coming up and really wanted to squeeze in an egg retrieval before the fall). I cannot say enough about Dr. Lin and every working staff at RMA because, without them and their combined effort, I wouldn't have this success, and I'm grateful for their exceptional care. My case was certainly on the more complicated side than others. I was first officially diagnosed with PCOS back in 2021, experienced very irregular periods for my entire adult life, and quickly learned that I have a few 3-4mm ovarian cysts, which altogether would prevent me from having a successful egg retrieval. However, Dr. Lin and the nurses explored different options and found ways to accommodate my uniqueness. Their expertise and knowledge in the fertility field really shined when they managed to retrieve 9 good quality eggs against all odds. 8 of them were fertilized, and 5 came out euploid and frozen. I cannot be happier with the results and would highly recommend others to at least check out RMA/Sound Fertility Care if you live in the area.

We always felt Dr. Lin gave us the education tools to make educated decisions about our IVF plan. There were a few times I had to call Dr. Lin after hours for concerns I had with medications or symptoms. Dr. Lin always got back to me in a timely fashion and never made me feel bad for calling or that my concerns were invalid. My husband and I both feel that Dr. Lin is a phenomenal doctor who has a passion for patient education and personalized care. We highly recommend working with her if you are starting with reproductive care or looking to switch care over.
[Sound Fertility Care] Clinic is great. Good location, clean, calm environment. Andrew at the front desk is wonderful, he has a great presence and is an asset to the clinic. The rooms are nice with all updated equipment. There are shared bathrooms between the rooms, they are always clean. How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr. Lin felt very confident that I would have an easy and plentiful egg retrieval seeing my husband and I came to her clinic for male infertility factor and my levels were all normal and looked great. When she went in for the retrieval she was very surprised to see some of my follicles did t have eggs but instead strange cell clusters. She was also taken aback by the limited number of mature eggs she was able to get when she had anticipated around 20 follicles with eggs in them. 3 mature eggs were retrieved, all 3 fertilized, but sadly they all arrested on day 3 and we had a failed cycle with no embryos. I was very frustrated because I thought this was going to be easy and Dr. Lin was so confident. She apologized for assuming it would be so easy and we then turned to focusing on my health moving forward. Dr. Lin talked to our marriage and family therapist, we increased my anxiety medication, I started seeing a dietitian to help me gain weight, I started taking focusing on my mental health and decreasing stress. She supported us along the way as we took 4 months off IVF to focus on our health. When we returned Dr. Lin edited our regimen a bit to account for what occurred the first retrieval. The second retrieval we got 19 eggs, 14 mature, all 14 fertilized, 10 made it to day 5, 7 came back from genetic testing with very high ratings and no abnormalities. After the retrieval Dr. Lin came out and hugged my husband, she was so proud of the hard work I put into my body and the noticeable changes she saw when she went in for the retrieval and what she noticed around my anxiety and it’s management when talking with her. Dr. Lin empowered me to take my physical and mental health into my own hands. Going into IVF I didn’t think there was any need for me to address my health seeing we were directed to IVF with ICSI because of an abnormality with my husband. Dr. Lin went above and beyond in making our second round plentiful by empowering and educating us. Today we have a healthy and beautiful 6 week old baby girl. We would not have been able to have a biological child without Dr. Lin.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Talk to Dr. Lin about your mental health along with physical health because mental health plays a huge part in reproductive health.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
When Dr. Lin noticed my mental health was not good, she asked if my husband and I would be comfortable with her talking to our MFT. Dr. Lin went out of her way to contact our therapist and let them know what was going on with our IVF journey so they could be up to speed when we had our next therapy session. Dr. Lin looks at the whole person not just the basic bodily functions needed to procreate. She focused on my mental health, my husbands mental health, and our marriage/relationship during IVF. Dr. Lin always remembered things going on in our lives, such as house construction or life events. We always felt Dr. Lin gave us the education tools to make educated decisions about our IVF plan. Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA - Washington State.
When working with the PA she did not tell me about what to expect during a procedure or what to expect from my body after the procedure. This was frustrating because the procedure was painful and I cramped and bled afterwards. She also did not do a good job of talking me through adds it was going on. I told Dr. Lin about this experience with this provider.

She [Dr. Lin] was able to pivot quickly during the first IUI - my husband’s count was lower than expected so instead of canceling the treatment she called him back in for a second sample) the second pivot of the first treatment was learning the angle of my cervix both of these ended up being things that would happen going forward. The first IUI resulted in a chemical pregnancy, sadly the baby wasn’t sticky...
[nurses at Sound Fertility Care] always seemed to pick up the conversation right where we left off after the last visit. Jane even went out of her way to drop off medicine for me in my neck of the woods when I just couldn’t make it to the clinic on time...IUI was about 3,000 IVF was about 21,000 for retrieval and placement 8000 for just the embryo placement Above is very loose math and includes medication costs...The billing department was probably my biggest headache. Hard to get in touch with but also only seemed to reach out over bills before sending to collections and even that was only by email...
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
This clinic was absolutely the best. Granted, for me, it was more expensive, but well worth it to be treated with dignity and respect. Dr. Lin was patient with my over-explaining details when she asked me questions and my need for all information and even open to me asking about stuff I found while researching online. She listened and did her best to relieve my anxiety (which I had a lot after another clinic tore me up and made me feel like I was only a paycheck for them) She was great at helping me not get discouraged, providing as much insight as possible in what I could do diet wise and vitamin wise to help the process as naturally as possible as well as keeping everything straight forward so I understood what was happening at any given time. During the first IUI with her my husbands count was a little lower than optimal so they pivoted quickly to bring him back in for a second retrieval before my appointment. This was an amazing experience even though it didn’t work the fact that she went above and beyond like this to give us the best possible chance was awesome- and we implemented this change into our future appointments.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Fertility treatment may not be one and done, it takes time and patience. It’s also not easy or instantaneous. So finding the right doctor and team is paramount. Dr Lin wants to help, it’s obvious that she wants to help families have babies and is willing to offer solutions that you may not have even known existed. I chose her because she had won awards in the Seattle area as the best doctor, and I stayed when I realized that she deserved ever single one.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Dr Lin made me feel like a human of value and respect. She listened to my experience from a previous doctor and was mortified for me. She re ran all the blood tests and found my issue not as detrimental as the other place said - thinking that the other place mixed up my bloodwork. But the main thing for me was that she always at least popped in to say hi even if she wasn’t the one performing the procedure that day.
Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
She saw my ovarian reserve results from my OB and thought she would run them again. Turned out that the result was better than originally stated to me. She thought that IUI would be a fine place to start and she also listened to me when I said I can’t afford much (unemployed due to Covid layoffs) She was able to pivot quickly during the first IUI - my husband’s count was lower than expected so instead of canceling the treatment she called him back in for a second sample) the second pivot of the first treatment was learning the angle of my cervix both of these ended up being things that would happen going forward. The first IUI resulted in a chemical pregnancy, sadly the baby wasn’t sticky. We did 3 more then in September started discussing IVF Knowing my budget was low she offered information about donated eggs which I was considering. We were giving me 3 month break from the meds before starting hormones in December. I had asked about a hormone I had read about online which she agreed would be worth trying to boost my egg retrieval number. I ended up with a positive pregnancy test days before my treatment was to begin. They then got me safely to 10 weeks before sending me to a new OB.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA - Washington State. (Assigned nurse: Jane)
Jane and Paulina were the team members I saw most often when I came in and they too always seemed to pick up the conversation right where we left off after the last visit. Jane even went out of her way to drop off medicine for me in my neck of the woods when I just couldn’t make it to the clinic on time. These people truly care what happens, they were there for my saddest moments but also my most joyous one. Paulina was mostly in charge of performing the treatment when Dr Lin was with another patient. She was always considerate and also was genuinely hoping for the best results each time. I was grateful for all these wonderful ladies and how supportive they were.

The billing department was probably my biggest headache. Hard to get in touch with but also only seemed to reach out over bills before sending to collections and even that was only by email. I only used the app on my cellphone and the billing stuff there wasn’t accessible. But I was willing to pay my bills, just needed to know I had them. Luckily none actually made it to collections so my credit is still in tact. (Should be noted that the app has been updated now and I think this was addressed)
