This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr. Lin is a caring and compassionate physician. She is very dedicated to her job, treats her patients with respect and is an overall genuine person. Since her practice has grown, you will see her PA instead of Dr. Lin. Nothing against her PA because she is great…however, it would have been nice to see more of Dr. Lin at the in clinic appointments.
The [Sound Fertility Care] clinic overall I think has become too large and is missing the individualized care it once had. Medical records requests take over 2 weeks to have transferred to an OB...The in clinic nursing staff was always super helpful and caring...As the process progressed, my voicemails/emails were never returned

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Be sure to ask questions and verify your treatment plan along with medications. I paid out of pocket for IVF treatment and all medications. A few medications I was told to purchase were never used or only used once. Lost nearly $3,000 on medication I didn’t need or wasn’t incorporated into my treatment plan (as it should have been).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
There were many appointments where I felt rushed so they could bring in the next patient from the very busy lobby.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA - Washington State.
In the beginning, the nurse coordinator was wonderful at returning voicemails/emails, etc. As the process progressed, my voicemails/emails were never returned. She screwed up by not adding one medication I was told to purchase to my flowsheet. Long story short, I spent almost $2,000 out of pocket on a medication I was supposed to use a week+ and only ended up using it one time. At times, the process felt super disorganized and perhaps she had too many patients to deal with.

The clinic overall I think has become too large and is missing the individualized care it once had.
Medical records requests take over 2 weeks to have transferred to an OB. Once you have an idea as to when you will be discharged from Sound Fertility, be sure to request records ASAP. In this day and age, 2 weeks seems a little extreme when it comes to sending records to another clinic.
The in clinic nursing staff was always super helpful and caring.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
A cost sheet is provided at the beginning of the IVF process. Unfortunately, they don’t include the additional costs that are ultimately hidden. As well as additional testing or possible procedures that aren’t covered by insurance.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA - Washington State.
A specific medication that was supposed to be used during my protocol (on a certain day(s)) was only administered once vs the 5-7 days it was supposed to be used. An error from a coordinator, by not putting on flow sheet or advising Dr. Lin that I had the medication. Only by me asking the Dr. as to when I’m supposed to use the medication is why I was able to get one dose out of a very expensive out of pocket cost medication.
Dr. Lin is so knowledgeable and professional. I knew what to expect from my process each and every step of the way. She was open and made herself available when I needed questions answered or if there were any changes to the process...We tracked my ovulation / LH levels very closely and made sure to time appointments at the peak timeframe necessary
The only negative thing I have to say about the [Sound Fertility Care] clinic is the downtown Seattle parking! Other than that, I always had a great experience. I made the drive from Vancouver, WA for every appointment because I had so much trust in this team...They were all very sweet and helpful...Dr. Lin was always open to answering any of my questions or explaining things deeper if I needed.

Describe the protocols Kat Lin used in your cycles at RMA - Washington State and their degree of success.
We tracked my ovulation / LH levels very closely and made sure to time appointments at the peak timeframe necessary. Ultrasounds were used to see follicle sizes in correlation with blood tests to see LH levels. I did not require any medication and ovulated naturally. My first IUI procedure, we got pregnant on the first try. My second IUI process took 2 tries. Both pregnancies resulted in healthy, happy babies

Describe the costs associated with your care under Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State.
The process was financially very reasonable and I was aware of anticipated costs prior to the procedures.
She [Dr. Kat Lin] is very knowledgeable and she was very willing to take time to patiently educate us, which helped us prepare better. We feel she gave more individual attention and tailored the IVF regimen based on the individual patient. We feel like she was actively looking for the root cause of our previous failures and was willing to make continual adjustments to fit our circumstances and my bodies reaction to the medication.
The Patient Portal system that Sound Fertility uses is a bit hard to navigate and not super user friendly (if there is a message reply button, I never found it!), however the staff was always very responsive to our questions we posted on Patient Portal. Sometimes the wait time was around 15 minutes beyond the appointment time which we found reasonable for us. To Dr. Lin and the staff at Sound Fertility, we cannot thank you enough!!
How was your experience with Kat Lin at RMA - Washington State?
Due to my age (just over 40) I knew that odds were not in my favor when I started IVF. Me and my husband had tried naturally for 1.5 years and then tried IUI twice but were not successful.
Then we decided to try IVF and chose Pacific Northwest Fertility. After 3 cycles of egg retrieval (over a period of 5 months), we were not able to get any viable embryos that passed the chromosome test. We felt like we were at a dead end and uncertain if it would be worthwhile to try again. We did some more research and found Dr. Kathleen Lin and Sound Fertility. We saw some feedback from some of Dr. Lin's patients that had been unsuccessful with Pacific Northwest Fertility and were able to successfully conceive with treatment from Sound Fertility. That was all we needed to give us hope to continue and try one more time.
We contacted Dr Lin and we were able to start an egg retrieval cycle the next month. She evaluated our situation and recommended that we do a Duo-Stim egg retrieval. After the two Duo-Stim egg retrievals, we were shocked to find out that we had 3 good embryos! One of them is my baby boy that will be born in 2 months!
When we consider how we achieved success with Dr. Lin, we came up with a few reasons: She is very knowledgeable and she was very willing to take time to patiently educate us, which helped us prepare better. We feel she gave more individual attention and tailored the IVF regimen based on the individual patient. We feel like she was actively looking for the root cause of our previous failures and was willing to make continual adjustments to fit our circumstances and my bodies reaction to the medication.
Dr. Lin has a great team that also gave us great individual attention. Jane, Louisa, and Paulina were great! The communication between the team was really great and each team member always seemed aware of the latest status of our IVF treatment. Initially we interacted with Jane and always found her very friendly and attentive. When we first met Paulina, she was new on the team. After just a few months, she completely earned our trust and we found her to be among the most capable medical professionals that we met during our IVF journey.
We really appreciated a few times when we had problems on the weekend, Dr. Lin and Paulina were both willing to talk with us. Paulina even did an unplanned visit to the office on short notice on the weekend to meet us for an urgent matter. We always had lots of questions and never once felt rushed by Dr. Lin, and she has an ability to explain things very clearly. Dr. Lin is knowledgable and detailed. For example, we did genetic testing which required following up with our doctors in another state. Dr. Lin stayed on the trail for weeks until she got the answers we needed to move forward. That, in addition to taking the time to listen to our concerns, explain the pros and cons of each option, and adjust treatment as needed along the way...
The nursing staff [at Sound Fertility Care] was great- always greeted me with a smile. At some point the blood draws and exams became really exhausting but they were always there with something nice and encouraging to say...Great clinic- clean, good size; not too small and not too big. It feels personal. Going through an IVF process is tough so the small things really matter. It was easy to schedule appointments, reschedule as needed, the staff was attentive, and organized.

Trust that they know best and ask as many questions as you need to, they really mean it when they say that you can.

No matter who I spoke to, it felt like I was their only patient. Especially after our first miscarriage. It was tough but we knew it was part of the process. They made sure we knew that we could take our time to deal with it all but at the same time encouraged us to try again- and we did!
