Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr Fisher truly loves his job and it shows!...can recite a study to back any of his decisions...allowed me to be an advocate for myself and helped me navigate my questions and concerns and would make changes based on our discussions...When we got our PGT results back he was so excited that he called me personally with my whole team on speaker phone...Him and his team made me want to come in because it felt so warm and inviting.
When we got our PGT results back [Dr. Fisher] was so excited that he called me personally with my whole team [at Spring Fertility] on speaker phone...Him and his team made me want to come in because it felt so warm and inviting...I loved that I received a call from a nurse after every appointment and that they checked in on me after my procedures...I always received prompt professional answers, and always felt like the only person they were treating.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr Fisher truly loves his job and it shows! He always comes in with a positive upbeat attitude. He can recite a study to back any of his decisions. He allowed me to be an advocate for myself and helped me navigate my questions and concerns and would make changes based on our discussions. He was patient when I had ten million questions and wanted to know why for everything. One of the things that made me respect him the most, however, was how highly his staff talked about him. They would tell me how they learned so much from him from his in-service classes he taught weekly. How he really wanted them to have the knowledge and love what they did, and he did so in a fun and interesting way. All of that could be seen as a patient as well. We could not have been in better hands!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr Fisher is very personable and always had something to talk about relating to past conversations or about his own personal life. He explained everything in depth and then was always really patient knowing I would have a million questions. Looking back he could have told me to ask the nurse, but he answered them himself. When we got our PGT results back he was so excited that he called me personally with my whole team on speaker phone. He was always upbeat and excited to be at work. Him and his team made me want to come in because it felt so warm and inviting.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Nurse- Melissa Care Coord. - Shelby)
I loved that I received a call from a nurse after every appointment and that they checked in on me after my procedures. I spoke to random nurses and rarely my own nurse. However, my Care Coordinator was always available, always coming in to cheer me on, and even held my hand when I got sick after my saline sonogram. Anything I needed she was always on top of it!
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
I was seen at both Danville and Oakland and I was impressed with every single person I came in contact with. Everyone was always friendly, upbeat, and generally happy to see you/be at work. I always received prompt professional answers, and always felt like the only person they were treating. There is not one single negative to report.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Spring Fertility East Bay.
I’m not sure if it was due to the pandemic and trying to keep people from waiting in the waiting room together, but I never saw any other patients in the Danville or Oakland office for monitoring. I was always 5-10 minutes early and in my car about 5-10 minutes after my appointment. I was seen quickly with all my questions answered. And not once did I feel rushed to get in or to get out. I was monitored twice by other doctors because it was Dr Fisher’s day off. I must say, his way of explaining the monitoring process and giving exact detail was much better than the other two. The other two told me to ask the nurse when they called in the evening. It wasn’t rude, just that it was the nurses job.

Dr.fisher led the way and was always able to answer our questions. He isn’t like alot of doctors the worry about doing outside research, he welcomed it. I think that shows how confident he is in his knowledge and we couldn’t be more grateful for him. Infertility is a tough journey, Ivf is even tougher but DR.Fisher and his team has made it a breeze, I’ve never felt more heard and seen in a doctors office...I would say to not hesitate in making the decision of working with him. I’m sure he would be very understanding of taking the time to make the decision but I wish I pulled the trigger sooner
...a doctor is only as good as his care team. The [Spring Fertility Easy Bay] office ladies are always so sweet, welcoming, and maintain a level of professionalism that I truly appreciate. The ease of use of their portal to communicate with your nurse and reading important documents is also a huge plus for me because I can keep track of all different labs and results. My nurse, Tiffany has been an angel with answering all my questions and 3AM thoughts with such kindness and grace. She's the best!
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr.Fisher has a ton of knowledge that doesn’t come off pretentious which is great. He isn’t scared of patients doing their own research and has a HUGe sense of understanding of what infertility does mentally and how that effects the amount of information we need to feel better about our situation . He’s so compassionate and is always listening intently without being dismissive. He’s also very kind and asks us about how our day is going/how our weekend was and also includes my partner in that conversation.

Dr. Fisher will provide the answers you are looking for without unnecessarily sugarcoating. He’ll tell you what you need to hear. However that doesn’t mean he is not compassionate. In fact he is warm and very friendly and genuinely cares about his patients. He sets realistic expectations so that nothing comes as a shock.
Spring has the best of both worlds. It’s equipped with latest and greatest of technology and competent providers. Yet it provides care with the delicacy of a small fertility clinic who care about their patients and don’t make you feel like you are just a paying “customer”. I had a wonderful experience dealing with staff and doctors and would recommend it to my friends and family.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher is one of the best providers I have come across so far. He is competent, professional and thorough. Once you know what to expect, Dr. Fisher will provide the best quality of care and will hear you out if you have any doubts or concerns. You can leave up to him to decide the best course of action for your treatment plan. Truly made it so much easier for me to go through what I did.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Be open minded and trust what Dr. Fisher has to say.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher was invested in my treatment and care and made sure he utilized his professional knowledge to get optimal results for me. When discussing stats, I sometimes felt like I was going to be part of a statistic too, however, this can’t be avoided since Dr. Fisher has to set realistic expectations for me.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Melissa - nurse and Paige - coordinator )
Staff is very friendly and put you at ease. They empathize with what you’re going through. Communication is great. However due to covid everything was over video and phone calls and that made me a little overwhelmed in the beginning. Once I had an understanding of what to do and how to do, I thought staff did an excellent job at keeping everything on track.

How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Candidly, when I first approached Spring, I wanted a female doctor but the earliest appointment was with Dr.Fisher. Although initially hesitant, since day 1 of seeing him, I felt very comfortable and at ease. He opened up and shared his own story of how him and his wife also went through their own fertility journey. I think that makes him a lot more relatable and empathetic to his patient's journey. He was polite, respectful, always greeted me with a smile, was patient with all my questions and never made the appointments feel rushed. He was always thorough in explaining procedures and next steps, comprehensive with his exams of follicle sizes, concerns and what to expect. I really appreciated the attentive care provided whether it was via email, in person or follow up calls after certain procedures to update me on progress. I remember the day of my transfer, he rushed over to the SF clinic all the way from Danville just to make sure he was the one doing the transfer himself. That definitely re-assured me, made me more confident that the chance of success would be high and overall just put me in a more positive state of mind. We are now a month away from meeting our miracle baby and I am immensely grateful to Dr.Fisher and the Spring team. Overall, would recommend Dr.Fisher to any of my friends or family members looking for fertility treatment. Could not have asked for a better experience.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Come prepared with questions during your appointments. Dr.Fisher is thorough with talking through the treatment but also always leaves room for any questions you might have.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher and staff were always friendly, on-time, patient with my many questions, understanding when I got emotional due to any results or drop offs from retrieval, day 3, day 5 survival and embryo quality. Dr.Fisher was responsive and personable on calls and always made me feel heard.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
I went through 2 IVF cycles and 1 frozen embryo transfer with Dr. Fisher. For both retrievals, I was taking the following supplements: prenatal, Vitamin D, Fish Oil, and Q10. My diagnosis was unexplained infertility as I had done prior exams and blood work at another clinic before Spring. In my first cycle, my antral follicle count was only 9-10. I started off with taking Estrace, got a bleed, went in for a baseline ultrasound and then started 225IU of Gonal F and then 150IU for Menopur. The dosage of Gonal and Menopur were dropped as they doctor tracked my bloodwork and the size and growth of my follicles every few days to try to get them to all grow at the same pace. I then started Cetrotide in conjuction with Menopur and Gonal F and eventually triggered with Novarel and Lupron. For my first retrieval, my body only yielded 8 eggs, 1 follicle was empty and only 1 egg was mature. That was devastating news and I remember crying for a long time thinking the odds of a healthy embryo was likely going to be none after the drop off from Day 3 to Day 5 to genetic testing. Dr.Fisher and the care team definitely set proper expectations and were also quite comforting in talking through alternatives for a second round. Miraculously, that one mature egg actually resulted in a 6AA Day5 Euploid embryo. Given that my husband and I wanted at least 2 kids, Dr. Fisher also recommended having at least 2 healthy embryos per potentially viable pregnancy so we decided to pursue a second round of IVF egg retrieval before moving forward with a transfer. In my second IVF cycle: I started off with Aygestin, had around 11 antral follicles, started same dosage of 225IU of Gonal F and then 150IU for Menopur which was adjusted slightly after every ultrasound and blood test appointment. Then started Cetrotide and triggered again with Lupron and Novarel. This time, 11 eggs were retrieved, 8 mature. I ended up with 4 that survived until Day 5 and then 3 that turned out to be Euploids. For my frozen embryo transfer, I started off with Aygestin pills (this was mostly because we were thinking of potentially doing a 3rd cycle of IVF depending on results of the embryo genetic testing). However, once we confirmed we were moving forward with FET, I was put on Letrozole 5mg for 5 days. After a few monitoring visits, the doctor asked me to start Gonal F at 150IU. As monitoring progressed, I was then instructed to take Ovidrel at 250mcg and take Medrol 16mg pills for 5 days. I went back in for a progesterone level check and then was confirmed for transfer. Transfer was successful and I am now 8 months pregnant!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
Although most people including myself go in thinking we will perhaps only need one IVF cycle, it's always good to know your options and what pricing will look like if you needed subsequent cycles. Accounting for price of medication is also something that needs to be factored in. Alto Pharmacy was superb in terms of convenience of delivering the medication to my doorstep. Our cost was ~$50K for 2 IVF cycles and 1 FET.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Spring Fertility East Bay.
During my embryo transfer, at one of my ultrasound visits, I was seen by another doctor. The reaction of the doctor made it seem like there was a strong possibility the transfer would need to be cancelled as I might have ovulated already. I panicked and started crying frantically. That said, Dr. Fisher called me shortly after my appointment to reassure me that he was not concerned and that I would be monitored closely for the next couple of days to confirm next steps. In the end, I was able to successfully complete the FET so although alarming at first, it all worked out.

Dr. Fisher is the best doctor I've ever worked with. He and his team has been with us through our 1+ year long fertility journey and we could not have asked for a better team. From the get go, he took the time to educate us, carefully listen to our story & goals, and created a plan for us. He's honest, realistic, funny, smart, detail-oriented, caring, all the things you'd wish for as a doctor during such vulnerable times.
I absolutely ADORED Spring Fertility staff, from the nurses, coordinators to the front office team. They make up the amazing culture Spring has and I always looked forward to my appts...I have recommended at least 5 people at my company to Spring Fertility because of how incredible the clinic is. They are organized, efficient, effective (have some of the highest success rates), and the culture and team are incredible...

Dr. Fisher is the only doctor I ever felt a connection with. From the start of our fertility journey, he always showed care, empathy, and enthusiasm to help you achieve your goals. He also made a process that can be so vulnerable much more pleasing than I had expected.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
We went with the mid-luteal protocol. For medications, was as on the typical injections, FSH, Menopur, Cetrotide and I can't remember what I used for trigger. For the transfer, we went with natural/letrozole protocol as I was able to ovulate on my own and my progesterone levels were normal.

My company insurance covered most of it and I paid about 1500 out of pocket. I believe if I did not have insurance, it would be 18k for the injections + trigger and 6-7k for transfer.
Describe Thomas Fisher's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility East Bay.
We went wit single embryo transfer as it was the safest and lowest risk.

Everyone including receptionists, nurses, medical assistants, and every person I ever interacted with at Spring offered me the best care.

We did single embryo transfer (safer for my age and higher chances of live birth)

[Dr. Fisher] always cared for me and made sure that I felt comfortable every time I saw him. I went in with a lot of questions and he made sure that he gave me the full answer without making me feel rushed. He also engaged me in the decision process on what protocols to go with by explaining the pros & cons in detail (which I really appreciated. Every patient is different!). I felt confident throughout the process thanks to him.
I missed [the Spring Fertility nurses] calls frequently (my work entails a lot of meetings) and she made sure that she sent me an email & leave me a VM to make sure I get all the updates in time...Very friendly. I almost felt like I wanted to come back to see them later at my last appointment! Having multiple locations also helped as I could choose the closer location for quick visits. I also loved how quickly they moved. I was looking at different clinics and Spring was able to move fastest and get me started sooner than later.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Very attentive and caring. He went through the IVF process with his wife and he not only has the medical understanding of he process but also how a patient might feel physically/medically. His friendly personality made me feel very comfortable every time I went in.

Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
[1ST CYCLE: 24 retrieved, 21 mature] Started the shots with the period, progesterone priming for 10 days before the period. Started with 150IU Gonal f/ 150IU Menopur. It went down to 75 IU each eventually & I added Cetrotide on day 5. Lupron only trigger to prevent OHSS. Triggered on day 11, and vaginal Cabergoline insertion for 8 days since the trigger day. [2ND CYCLE: 42 retrieved, 33 mature] Mid-luteal protocol to see if we can get the eggs grow a little tighter. Started the shots 1 month after the retrieval date. Started priming 5 days after positive ovulation test. Started with 150IU Gonal f/ 150IU Menopur. It went down to 100IU Gonal f/ 75 IU Menopur eventually & I added Cetrotide on day 6. Lupron only trigger to prevent OHSS. Triggered on day 11, and vaginal Cabergoline insertion for 8 days since the trigger day. Was back on Cetrotide again for 3 days after ER to minimize OHSS risk.

He [Dr. Fisher] explained everything clearly and answered all my questions. I wish he had discussed how to beat take care of myself before and after the IUI though. He is always friendly and reassuring, and has great bedside manner. He also made me feel much more hopeful than before. He made the decision for an IUI seem like a very easy one...clomid for 5 days and monitored my follicles with ultrasounds. Once I hit 15.5cm he had me trigger ovulation 3 days later. IUI was 2 days after that...
It [Spring Fertility] is clean and comfortable. The staff is warm and comforting. They always have a coordinator follow up after appointments to explain everything again and answer any questions, which is great if you get nervous in the appointments like I do. The front desk staff is friendly and the waiting room is comfortable...They [nurses] are all very calm and kind. Everyone has been professional. And the woman who drew my blood did a great job...

Dr. Fisher has incredible bedside manner...treated me with kindness and respect and always as a person with valid feelings and concerns...decided to do 3-4 IUIs before moving to IVF...decided to do a controlled FET for the next cycle and supplement progesterone. This resulted in a pregnancy.
Danville clinic...only open MWF, so you do have to travel to Oakland T/R and on weekends if you need care during that time...Melissa was my nurse and she was great...always treated me with compassion and understanding even when delivering difficult news...be prepared to head to Oakland for all IVF treatment plans.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher was an incredible fertility doctor and I felt so safe and cared for at every interaction we had. He always validated my concerns and answered my (many) questions. I never felt like he was pushing a treatment plan on me, with his guidance I was able to make informed decisions that made the most sense for my family. I trust him completely and wish he could be my doctor for everything.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Do a consultation and meet Dr. Fisher. The consultation is so comprehensive, you're bound to see what a gem he is. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable but he's so kind and thoughtful with his patients and is able to meet them where they are at during their fertility journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher has incredible bedside manner. He's treated me with kindness and respect and always as a person with valid feelings and concerns.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
During my consultation, we decided to do 3-4 IUIs before moving to IVF. I started on clomid for the first 2 IUIs. We found that my lining wasn't thickening for the second round of IUI and supplemented estrogen with the intent to switch medications to letrozole for future IUIs. I had no issues with uterine lining thickening with letrozole for the latter 2 IUIs as a result of this change. We also had a canceled natural FET because my progesterone levels were too low to support a healthy transfer. This was hard news, but better than risking a miscarrying an embryo. As a result of this canceled cycle, we decided to do a controlled FET for the next cycle and supplement progesterone. This resulted in a pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Melissa was my nurse, Izabelle was the coordinator)
Melissa was my nurse and she was great. She met with me multiple times to go over treatment plans, protocols, and medications. She always treated me with compassion and understanding even when delivering difficult news. And she was very timely with updates and replies, connecting me with whomever I needed so I felt informed and comfortable with next steps. Izabelle was my care coordinator for a brief period of time and she wasn't as responsive or prompt as I needed. We disagreed on treatment plans on occasion and her reply would be "this is our protocol" which felt inflexible and costly. This only happened twice and both times I advocated for a call with Dr. Fisher, who would then address my concerns and say we don't need to do whatever was being insisted upon by the coordinator. Note: I don't think Izabelle is at Spring anymore because my care was transitioned to Melissa.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
I really liked the Danville clinic. It's only open MWF, so you do have to travel to Oakland T/R and on weekends if you need care during that time, which isn't inconvenient but can be a lot to remember and coordinate. There embryology lab and surgeries also don't take place in Danville so be prepared to head to Oakland for all IVF treatment plans. I wish the Danville clinic was supported to be open every day because I felt so safe in that area. I also really liked the free parking.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
I had 4 IUIs which were $2,600 each, and ~$100 for medication for each cycle. For my egg retrieval, medication was ~$4,000 and the surgery itself was ~$22,100. I lost $1,000 during my canceled natural FET cycle, but had about ~$3,000 in credit applied to my controlled FET cycle. I also had several one-off tests both blood and ultrasound that were not included in my cycles but needed for extra monitoring due to the nature of my pregnancy at the time. These added costs were about ~$1,700.
Describe Thomas Fisher's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility East Bay.
My doctor recommended a single embryo transfer and shared the research as to why we should go that route. I had done my own research and agreed with his approach. I asked him to select the highest quality embryo for the transfer.

Dr. Fisher...has the best bedside manner, is patient, caring and a fantastic doctor...not afraid to try different protocols each time...transferred my only 3 embryos at one time. I was hesitant to do so but trusted that Dr Fisher wouldn’t steer me wrong...was genuine and caring...explained everything to me in a way that I could understand it
[Spring Fertility East Bay is] Such a great office with the best, most caring staff...All of the nurses and coordinators were also amazing!!! They all knew me by name. Love my experience with them...traveled 2 hours from my home to the clinic (3 hours with morning commute traffic). It was completely worth it!
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
I loved everything about Dr. Fisher. He has the best bedside manner, is patient, caring and a fantastic doctor. Genuinely wanted me to get my miracle baby. If things didn’t go as planned, he always was one step ahead with a contingency plan.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
No advice, just to not have reservations about starting IVF if needed. I had used a different clinic before going to Spring and they treated me like a number. Dr Fisher never did that!! Dr Fisher has since moved to Spring Fertility in Portland, but he was worth the 2 hour drive for me to see him the Bay Area. He was a great asset to Spring Fertility East Bay.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher was genuine and caring. He explained everything to me in a way that I could understand it. He was honest and real and at the same time, hopeful and my cheerleader. I loved everything about the care I had with him.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
I was lucky they take Progyny insurance. I had 3 cycles covered with Progyny and paid approximately 15k out of pocket total for all three retrievals and one transfer. Not bad considering it’s about 30k per cycle.

I felt complete trust and comfort with Dr. Fisher. From our first consultation through the embryo transfer, Dr. Fisher greeted my husband and me at every appointment with enthusiasm and genuine interest in how our journey was progressing...offered charts and references to provide more detail behind his recommendations, so we could follow the "why" behind the "what." He ultimately left every decision up to us, after ensuring we were equipped with the benefits and trade-offs of every path forward. On top of his professional skills, Dr. Fisher is simply a personable and happy person.
Every member of the Spring Fertility clinic staff was warm, supportive, and helpful. An example of their extraordinary kindness is that the nursing staff teed up a favorite song to play in the procedure room on the day of my retrieval. :) They responded to every email or call with patient, clear information. The phlebotomists were patient with my anxiety, too, and always used butterfly needles and helped distract me from the draw so I could be calm.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
I felt complete trust and comfort with Dr. Fisher. From our first consultation through the embryo transfer, Dr. Fisher greeted my husband and me at every appointment with enthusiasm and genuine interest in how our journey was progressing. He always took the time to ask thoughtful questions and answer all of ours--no matter how in-the-weeds. We trusted his expertise because he described complex medical issues clearly and paused to check for our understanding. Dr. Fisher offered charts and references to provide more detail behind his recommendations, so we could follow the "why" behind the "what." He ultimately left every decision up to us, after ensuring we were equipped with the benefits and trade-offs of every path forward. On top of his professional skills, Dr. Fisher is simply a personable and happy person. We laughed a lot with him because he is an active listener who responds with interesting comments. We always felt at-ease with him. The combination of Dr. Fisher's skills and warm approach to patient engagement made us truly feel like he was dedicated to our success and human experience.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Pay attention to all the knowledge he has to offer. Ask all the questions you have in mind. You'll progress through the journey best if you understand what is happening and feel comfortable with the approach.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
For all the reasons I'll explain later, Dr. Thomas showed true concern and dedicated the time to provide thorough care.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
At age 38, I did two rounds of egg retrieval: one to create embryos and one to store eggs for fertility preservation. My husband and I did PGS testing on the embryos and transferred one frozen, Day-5 embryo that resulted in a successful pregnancy and live birth. We love our little one! For the egg retrievals, I don't recall the protocol but my medications were Gonal-F, Menopur, Cetrotide, Novarel, and Lupron. For the FET, my medications were Letrozole, Medrol, and Ovidrel. I took Valium the day of the procedure and Endometrin inserts afterward. We had undiagnosed infertility, but the original thought is that I had fewer follicles at my age than normal. After stimulation, though, we successfully yielded more eggs than anticipated. We retrieved 17 eggs, 14 of which were mature, 12 of which fertilized successfully, 11 of which looked healthy at Day 3, 6 of which looked healthy as Day 5 blastocysts, and 3 of which tested as chromosomally "normal." We were given the option to choose the sex of the embryo but opted to just go with the one with the highest assessment for quality. We feel extremely lucky that the first transfer was a success. Our other embryos and eggs remain frozen in case we want to use them in the future to try for additional children.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Shelby Raley (patient navigator) and Darcy (primary nurse)Darcy)
Both Shelby and Darcy provided detailed, but clear, information in a timely manner. They always offered and were available for my questions--whether in multiple email exchanges or in a call. I felt like they were cheering me on at every step!
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
As mentioned before--I think highly of the skillset, kind attention, and dedicated care I received at Spring. I only have two recommendations for how the clinic could better serve patients. First, the whole process would be easier to navigate if Spring provided an overview packet that has sections for every aspect of the journey (e.g., finances, explanation of different protocols, reasonable expectations of success, typical timing). It would also help greatly to have some sample calendars for a certain degree of planning. I heard from multiple people at Spring that they couldn't provide a calendar until we knew my ovulation data for several weeks--but I was just looking for a ballpark so I could understand if I would even be available to do a certain cycle, based on pre-arranged travel out of state. I ended up waiting several months for my egg retrieval because I had to be overly conservative about waiting for a timeframe when I wouldn't travel for a long period. Some earlier predictability--even if not precise at all--would have really helped me. Similarly, it would help if medication costs were predicted so we could map costs at the beginning. Secondly, I hope Spring's new commercial insurance billing specialist continues to be much better than the one that was there 2021-2022. I had a massive billing issue related to my insurance provider, Cigna. The first mistake was that Spring told me I had to pay upfront because they did not charge insurance. However, I later learned from Cigna that they only reimburse directly to clinics. After paying upfront to Spring, I submitted my claim to Cigna. Instead of repaying me, Cigna paid Spring and did not notify me. Spring also did not notice the payment. It took 8 months of my calling Cigna to repeatedly check on my claim before the issue was discovered, then another 6 months before Spring could track down the double payment and refund me. The entire financial issue was an extreme challenge and stress during the end of my pregnancy and first months with a newborn. Despite the challenges listed, the benefits of the knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated Spring team lead me to recommend them to all friends and family.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Spring Fertility East Bay.
The lobby was comfortable and welcoming, with all of us prospective or expecting mothers invited to have snacks while waiting. I learned a lot during each monitoring session and had the opportunity to ask many questions of Dr. Fisher.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
Initial consult - $450 Lab/genetic tests for my husband and me (to LabCorp or Natera): $800 1st egg retrieval for embryos: $17K + $4200 for medications 2nd egg retrieval for preservation: $7800 + $3K for medications Frozen embryo transfer: $5K+ $800 for medications + $1K for saline ultrasound Early stages of pregnancy: $450 for ultrasound + $450 for medication (progesterone)
Describe Thomas Fisher's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility East Bay.
Dr. Fisher explained to us the risks of multiple embryo transfer and why Spring Fertility has a policy of only doing eSET at my age. After understanding the rationale, we were supportive of the limitation.
What specific things went wrong at Spring Fertility East Bay?
  • Lost paperwork
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Spring Fertility East Bay.
(Described in previous field: my billing experience was horrendous due to a small mistake by Spring compounded by a bigger mistake by Cigna, then no one noticing a massive double-payment. When I brought it all to light, it took months for the new billing specialist to track down the needed records.)

How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
By the time my husband and I saw Dr. Fisher, we had been trying to grow our family for over a year and had experienced one pregnancy loss. We were sad and defeated, but after our first consultation appointment with Dr. Fisher, hope was restored. Dr. Fisher spent over an hour meeting with me and my husband, asking us lots of questions, and reviewing our lab test results with us. He explained in detail what he thought may be going on and gave us a few options for next steps. This was the most time any doctor had spent with us over the past year and we left his office feeling informed and hopeful. Over the next 3 months of treatment, Dr. Fisher and his team were communicative, honest, and always kept us informed along the way. We had one minor setup during the Timed Intercourse treatment process, but Dr. Fisher had a solution and always kept us informed of what he thought was happening and why he was recommending certain next steps. Ultimately, we are blessed that the treatment worked and we now have a beautiful healthy 2 month old baby boy. We are so grateful for everything Dr. Fisher did to help us grow our family and would highly recommend his services.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Come with an open mind and trust the process

Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
Dr. Fisher suggested we try Timed Intercourse and started me on 5mg of Letrozole. I took the 5mg of Letrozole for 5 days and then went in for an ultrasound to see if my ovaries had grown. They hadn't made much progress, so Dr. Fisher increased the Letrozole dose to 10mg and I took that for 5 more days. When I went back in for my next ultrasound, my ovaries had grown slightly, but not as much as we had hoped. That being said, Dr. Fisher told me he felt confident the medication was working, it was just working slower than we had anticipated. Dr. Fisher told me to wait a few more days and then take an ovulation test. I did exactly that and the test was positive. My husband and I were fortunate enough to get pregnant that month thanks to the medication and treatment process.

Approximately $6,500 for one round of Timed Intercourse + a saline sonogram.

Dr. Fisher is very helpful to explain the process...We did IVF with ICSI we had expected to get lots of embryos, unfortunately only 2 embryos made it to blast the first retrieval and 1 embryo the second retrieval. We did a natural cycle for my frozen embryo transfer which was successful...was very personable and compassionate to my story as I had a previous stillbirth.
My lead nurse [at Spring Fertility] was amazing! She helped create multiple estimate timelines to help me with the planning of my retrieval’s and transfer!...The clinic is great, after a failed retrieval I was upset and blamed the clinic yet then got two opinions from other clinics that said the same thing as my clinic so I was reassured how good my team is.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher really heard me out on my TTC journey after stillbirth. He was so supportive and made me feel comfortable even though my retrieval’s did not go the way we hoped. He helped with my plans moving forward after two retrieval’s and moving forward with a transfer with our one embryo prior to trying a third retrieval. He is such a great doctor and person.

Ask all your questions as you deserve to understand your treatment plan and Dr. Fisher is very helpful to explain the process.

How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher was so understanding and made sure I was as comfortable, informed and prepared as possible. He took the extra time to explain everything to me, even explaining something multiple times to me. He always took my concerns and validated them while explaining how we were going to tackle each situation with all the reassurance in the world.

Don't be afraid to ask all the questions! Dr. Fisher will answer them and instantly put your mind at ease.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher was incredibly kind and thorough. He truly made sure I understood everything that was happening to me, what each medication meant, what it meant when my follicles were at varying sizes. He really took the time to make sure I felt like he heard me and made me feel human.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
The first round of treatment my follicles grew very quickly and then when it was time to retrieve I had actually just ovulated so that wasn't great but I was still able to get 4 mature eggs. For my next round, Dr. Fisher had a better idea of how my body would react so he adjusted mediation and we timed my retrieval different to get a better result which was 9 mature eggs.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Melissa)
Very on it. I really appreciated them constantly checking on me either through the app or with phone calls. Everything was very prompt and they all were complete sweethearts.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
The offices are so cute. Everything is so clean and new. They truly have it set up so you are so comfortable and they really have thought of everything you may want or need. And the pre-op chairs are heated and massage. The appointment rooms had a tv so you could comfortably see everything your doctor is doing without having to crank your neck to look at their monitor. And I even passed out one time ( i dumbly didn't eat anything and had coffee) before having blood taken and everyone was sooo nice and helpful and made sure I was really taken care of.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
It was roughly around 15k per treatment for freezing my eggs.

Inspite of low chances of success , because of our preference, we started with IUIs with Letrozole for male factor infertility. I also have one tube only. We moved on to IVF , did one round of mid luteal protocol , added ICSI and zymot and got 17 eggs, 4 day 6 embryos , 3 PGT normals. We transferred one embryo in a modified natural cycle the following month (medrol + Valium , no progesterone ) and it was successful.

From our initial assessment to our last & final appointment, Dr. Fisher was nothing but amazing! Not only is he a wonderful doctor with incredible bedside manner, but he rocks as a human being - his compassion & dedication is apparent in everything that he does...he personalizes your protocol & values your insight as a patient. How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher was referred to us by my OB/Gyn, as we were having trouble conceiving our second child (due to DOR, low AMH); therefore, we decided IVF was our next route. From our initial assessment to our last & final appointment, Dr. Fisher was nothing but amazing! Not only is he a wonderful doctor with incredible bedside manner, but he rocks as a human being - his compassion & dedication is apparent in everything that he does. We are so, so grateful for this man & the fact that with his help, our little miracle girl was born happy & healthy.

Dr Fisher was always very honest but very kind with his words. Even when our chances were very low, he gave us hope but with clear expectations. Dr Fisher went above and beyond to help us find a doctor that could schedule a surgery asap. He made sure we stayed on track with our timeline, but also told us when it was best to take a deep breath and wait for better chances...We never felt like a number under Dr Fisher’s care. He never pushed us to do anything one way or another, and he always took time answering all our questions.
Spring was very clear with costs and made transactions easy. I also never had problems scheduling all the appointments necessary around my schedule. I could chose which clinic to go to, depending where I’d be that day. I could get all my results and information on my portal and they also helped me with my insurance...All of Dr Fisher’s team were very helpful when giving me directions, arranging appointments and prescriptions. Darcy also saw me in person when I was in pain the day before our retrieval.

How was your experience with Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Dovey is the most professional and caring doctor I have ever met. She has deep knowledge and expertise, and she shares relevant research findings with her patients in accessible terms for lay people to understand. She was easy to get in touch with and we trusted her completely.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Go to Dr. Dovey! You will not regret it. She is the best.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Dovey is INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and empathetic. She is highly competent in trans health care. After two years of fertility treatment, working with her was a breath of fresh air. She cared about us, communicated honestly with warmth, and celebrated with us when we successfully became pregnant.
Describe the protocols Serena Dovey used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
We used a natural cycle to transfer two embryos. My progesterone levels were high enough that I did not need to supplement, which I really appreciated because progesterone is quite invasive. Dr. Dovey trusted my body, which helped me regain trust in it too.
How competent was Serena Dovey at LGBTQ+ care?
Dr. Dovey's level of expertise is astounding. She has worked with many LGBTQ+ families and specifically with trans men to retrieve their eggs. She understands the emotional and physical toll of undergoing fertility treatment generally, and specifically as trans people. If you are LGBTQ+ and looking for a doctor in the Bay Area, there is no one better than Dr. Dovey.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Mel)
Mel was incredibly knowledgeable and responsive. She made sure we always knew what was happening next, and she was always available to answer questions.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
Strengths: easy to schedule, little wait, compassionate care team. Thoughtful touches - they sent us a little box of chocolates after my partner's egg retrieval and sent flowers after each of our transfers. They really care about their patients. They are the best. The care is based on the latest research, which they explain to you, so you are informed as to why they are doing what they are doing. I cannot think of any weaknesses; we were so happy with our care.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay.
Our care was covered by Progyny; we paid 10%. Do not recall the cost.
Describe Serena Dovey's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility East Bay.
They advised us only to transfer one embryo at a time, and we were aligned.
How competent was Spring Fertility East Bay at LGBTQ+ care?
Dr. Dovey's knowledge and expertise is unparalleled. I highly recommend her for any LGBTQ+ person in the Bay Area. It is even worth traveling to receive care from her.
Describe your experience using 3rd party reproduction (donor eggs, donor sperm, or gestational carrier) at Spring Fertility East Bay.
They had to coordinate with a genetics company to build some very specialized tests for our embryos, and we were pleased with how they managed the logistics. They also were easy to transfer materials with (e.g., having sperm shipped there).

loved the way that Dr. Fisher communicated. He was blunt but kind. I loved his realist perspective...you see your doc frequently and he/she does all the monitoring and ultrasounds...forward thinking and progressive, ready to try anything that could work to help an over 40 mom like me
at Spring my husband and I felt the benefits of a boutique health care experience...we felt that human connection and really appreciated the care that we received...Shelby was organized and easy to communicate with...It was all out of pocket, about $30K.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
I love that the doctors at Spring are forward thinking and progressive, ready to try anything that could work to help an over 40 mom like me. At UCSF the doctors were cynical, so when I brought up things like a growth hormone they sighed and said that it probably wouldn’t do anything to help…. But Dr. Fisher made these things a part of his plan from the beginning and the results were clear. I did my first treatment at UCSF at age 40 and got 2 euploid embryos, one of which resulted in a miscarriage and the other which did not take. When I came to Spring at 42 after that series of disasters at UCSF we were really hoping to get even one, but with Dr. Fisher’s protocol we were able to get 2 despite my age, and I am now listening to my healthy baby daughter cooing on the couch next to me. Dr. Fisher and his team did everything in their power to help me and it worked. Dr. Fisher is a realist, so he did not bloat my expectations and set me up for disappointment- he kept it real and warned me that we might not be successful. But he worked SO hard for us, did everything in his power, and didn’t ignore possibilities that could help just because the data was not as vast as it could be. If there is data that something could help, why not try it? I have no doubt that Spring’s willingness to try things (within reason- nothing that could harm me) is the reason why my daughter is here today. I cannot wait for him to meet her! As soon as we emerge from the newborn bubble I am taking her to there and I know he will be so overjoyed. He felt like family to us and we know he really cared. He shared tender experiences from his own life to help make me feel better when emotions overwhelmed me. He was a true ally.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Don't be put off by his blunt nature. He is just being honest and that is so important in a doctor. He is razor sharp and so very smart, but also very human and enthusiastic. He is the best!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
I have actually worked with 2 different clinics, UCSF and Spring Fertility, so I feel like I have a pretty decent perspective on why Spring is the absolute best. I worked with Dr. Fisher and had a wonderful experience after being somewhat traumatized at UCSF. The first thing that really stands out is how much time you get at Spring with your actual doctor. At UCSF the doctors are like these celebrities that you only communicate with via video chat and at the actual retrieval, and nurses are all you see in the many monitoring appointments. At Spring you see your doc frequently and he/she does all the monitoring and ultrasounds to make sure that things are going smoothly. This meant the world to me. I also loved the way that Dr. Fisher communicated. He was blunt but kind. I loved his realist perspective.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
He used ICSI and omnitrope which I really think made the difference for us. With aging eggs like mine both of these things are really helpful. He was able to adjust the protocol as needed since he was the one doing all of the monitoring sessions.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Shelby)
Shelby was organized and easy to communicate with.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
At UCSF I felt like I was using my health insurance and getting very basic care, not spending tens of thousands of dollars out of pocket, but at Spring my husband and I felt the benefits of a boutique health care experience. Things like snacks in the waiting room etc are nothing in comparison to the effectiveness of the treatment, but honestly since we didn’t have insurance that would cover the cost we really appreciated being spoiled a little. At UCSF we felt like a number, not valued at all. At Spring we felt that human connection and really appreciated the care that we received. The fact that they were also more effective is the most important thing of course. I would recommend Spring to anyone, and in fact my very best friend is starting her care there right now. That is how good they are. They have forever touched my family’s life.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
It was all out of pocket, about $30K.
Describe Thomas Fisher's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility East Bay.
He insisted on only one due to my age and that was a good call. Now we have one healthy daughter and not twins, which would have been too much for us.

I know I want kids in the future and therefore was contemplating egg freezing. Dr. Fisher never made me feel like he was selling the idea of egg freezing and rather me provided with facts and data...always explained what was happening and provided next steps so I knew what to expect...created a sense of trust and removed much anxiety which is important as a patient.
[Spring Fertility was] Extremely clean and comfortable...[nurse] was very quick to respond, clearly communicated all instructions and would answer (or get answers) to all my questions. Her responsiveness ensured I felt like I could rely on her... the billing team was not as organized or responsive...Right now I am resolving an issue with them where a third party billed me for more than what I was told my maximum bill would be.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher is incredibly knowledgable and patient making him very easy and great to work with. I saw Dr. Fisher about freezing eggs and embryos and from the onset always felt like he shared his knowledge of fertility which allowed me to make educated decisions. I was 32 turning 33 when I first saw Dr. Fisher about egg freezing. I know I want kids in the future and therefore was contemplating egg freezing. Dr. Fisher never made me feel like he was selling the idea of egg freezing and rather me provided with facts and data. It was because of this that I chose to do egg freezing with Dr. Fisher. There are some Drs. who gave me the impression that were selling me the service as it was must do however Dr. Fisher never did that. He kept to facts and when asked his opinion to stuck to facts such as 'typically egg quality is like x during y, and then will be z during a". This made me feel like I wasn't getting sold something but rather had a Dr. who kept to the science which I greatly appreciate. I could also get a sense that he cared for his patients and he always took the time to answer questions. I left our initial consultation feeling like I had a better idea of female fertility and reasons why but did not feel like I had to freeze my eggs at that exact moment. I chose to however for personal reasons of knowing that if I was going to in the future anyway why not now especially having found a Dr. i liked working with. During my egg freezing Dr. Fisher always explained what was happening and provided next steps so I knew what to expect, what was happening and why, and what was to come which created a sense of trust and removed much anxiety which is important as a patient. Dr. Fisher monitored my progress throughout my egg freezing process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Don't hesitate to ask questions
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Walking through the process and the procedure and though data was shared it was provided to give me insight as a patient and to understand the data on egg freezing and embryo freezing. They also walked me through what it is my body is doing throughout the process which felt very human to me and I found it extremely educational. Dr Fisher also walked me through female fertility during your thirties and forties and I felt like a human as he explained what happens to a human body and used this information to help me understand my body and the process. He would separate presenting data to where I am and therefore I felt a lot like a human.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
My treatment strategies and protocol was to track my ovulation as I had gone off birth control (my own choice) ahead of egg freezing. Since my amh levels came back normal (higher than average) and my initial consultation showed regular follicle count I was to use gonal f and menopur during the monitoring phase as we began the egg freezing process. Right from the beginning I was told at what time of day to test for ovulation and to immediately call/advise the clinic when I got a positive. Since this was during Covid the clinic also did covid tests ahead of treatment which I greatly appreciated given I was paying for this myself. Once I got a positive they booked me an appointment for a blood draw (I think the day after possibly) and since blood draws were in the morning they could get results by afternoon and provide us with our protocol. I was then given clear instructions both via a calendar, a web portal and a phone call by a nurse of what to do for the next few days. I started off with gonal f and menopur and would go in every 2-3 days for monitoring to begin with. Closer to my retrieval I went in every day and my dosage changed a little which again was communicated via a shared calendar, a web portal, and a phone call. They also did injection trainings ahead of this so I felt as well prepared as i could have been having never injected myself before. On the day of my trigger, because one of hormones was high I did not have to use two medications to trigger but one. The nurse had called me the day before to give me the exact time I was going to trigger and to walk me through exactly which medications to use, how to do the dosage and was very clear on the importance of timing. They recommended getting the injections prepped a little before the actual trigger keeping in mind the need to refrigerate one of the medications. The anesthesiologist also called me the early evening before the retrieval so I knew waht to do in terms of food and drink.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Mel )
Mel was my primary nurse and she was very quick to respond, clearly communicated all instructions and would answer (or get answers) to all my questions. Her responsiveness ensured I felt like I could rely on her. She was very clear with instructions and was patient with me as I would repeat them back to her as I this was my first time. The nursing staff at Spring overall were all very friendly and very caring. My care coordinator was also very responsive and also always answered (or found answers to my questions). They were great to work with. During the day of my egg retrieval the nurses (and entire team) were all very caring, patient, and it was comforting to be under their care.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
Strengths - definitely felt like state of the art equipment especially during the egg retrieval and also seeing the embryologists work in SF made I was visually able to see the state of the art facilities. Extremely clean and comfortable and I could tell all the nurses and drs were extremely professional while also kind and caring. The extra touches such as the sparkling water and snacks/chocolates was definitely a plus. Though for me what is most important is the knowledge and professional of the team which was a 10/10 and the healthcare equipment which was also a 10/10. Weaknesses - the billing team was not as organized or responsive. Sometimes I had to follow up with the billing team on certain questions and one time I was told I had an outstanding payment when I did not. Right now I am resolving an issue with them where a third party billed me for more than what I was told my maximum bill would be.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
Egg freezing I believe was $8750 for my first round and then I think my second round I got a 10% discount. Embryo freezing (I did one round) was approximately $16,000-$17,000 for one round. In addition, each round required medication which cost around $3000-$4000

Dr. Dovey was friendly, but seemed kind of reserved...didn't talk much during monitoring appointments...wasn't overtly positive about the results, maybe because she doesn't want to get people's hopes up?...I have hyperthyroidism Dr. Dovey wants me to be under the care of an endocrinologist before I move forward with the Frozen Embryo Transfer
I don't like using the Salve app [at Spring Fertility East Bay], but it's the only way to send messages to staff. I'm concerned about the privacy of my health data...like all the staff I've interacted with...usually isn't a wait to be seen after I check-in...Natalie was a useful nurse...usually respond quickly to messages
How was your experience with Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Dovey was friendly, but seemed kind of reserved. She didn't talk much during monitoring appointments. I came in knowing I wanted to do IVF, after four failed IUIs (I did IVF out of pocket). I went with Dr. Dovey so that I could get started with IVF right away. She wasn't overtly positive about the results, maybe because she doesn't want to get people's hopes up? I was hoping to do a transfer in January, but because I have hyperthyroidism Dr. Dovey wants me to be under the care of an endocrinologist before I move forward with the Frozen Embryo Transfer, but because I switched insurance in January it seems I may have to wait a while for the FET because I haven't been able to get an endocrinologist appointment before April. This is not necessarily Dr. Dovey's fault, but I wish I had known about this hurdle before switching during open enrollment. I does make sense to switch my medication before the FET.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Definitely do lots of reading on your own. If you have questions she (or people working close with her) will answer them, but she won't go out of her way to explain things.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Serena Dovey at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Dovey was fine. She was my doctor, not my best friend. If I had questions she would answer them
Describe the protocols Serena Dovey used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
Priming with Estrace (2 tablets per day), injections of Menopur and Gonal F, Cetrotide, HCG, Lupron. Great results. Dr. Dovey said my body responded well. My diagnosis is unexplained infertility.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility East Bay. (Assigned nurse: Natalie)
Natalie was a useful nurse, though there was a least one time when she didn't respond to a message over the weekend, but I solved the issue by Monday. All the staff have been friendly and cordial and usually respond quickly to messages.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
I don't like using the Salve app, but it's the only way to send messages to staff. I'm concerned about the privacy of my health data. I like the free drinks in the waiting room. I like all the staff I've interacted with and there usually isn't a wait to be seen after I check-in.

Dr. Fisher laid out a plan and explained what I can expect and the rationale behind everything...very low ovarian reserve...available for a phone call or message to answer the multitude of questions I had, was always patient, and never made me feel like I was asking a stupid question...mini-stim cycles
[Spring Fertility East Bay] always had a warm, welcoming receptionist. Clinic space was clean and calming. I wish there was more free parking around the clinic...nurses were thorough and very responsive...transferred 3 day 3, untested embryos because of my low reserve...pregnant with a singleton pregnancy.
How was your experience with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Like many patients, I was very anxious heading into IVF treatments. I am an OB/Gyn and I knew that the odds were stacked against me given my very low ovarian reserve. Dr. Fisher laid out a plan and explained what I can expect and the rationale behind everything. He was always available for a phone call or message to answer the multitude of questions I had, was always patient, and never made me feel like I was asking a stupid question. He kept my expectations realistic while genuinely cheering me on through the process. In the end, I ended up having to do fewer egg retrievals than predicted, and got pregnant after the first transfer (and just had my baby!). I am so grateful for the guidance and compassion he showed me through my fertility journey, and feel so lucky to have had his care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Some patient are hesitant about seeing a male doctor, but I found Dr. Fisher to be gentle, caring, and professional, and provided the best care I could have hoped for.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
Given my low reserve, we did mini-stim cycles. Initial plan was to do 3 retrievals with the goal of getting one embryo per retrieval, and transfer 3 day 3 embryos in the end; day 3 embryos because of the attrition of embryos from day 3 to 5. I ended up getting 3 eggs from 3 follicles on the first retrieval, all of which fertilized and became day 3 embryos. We did a second stim cycle but didn’t retrieve because there was maybe just one medium-sized follicle. Instead, we transferred the 3 embryos that cycle and I got pregnant with a singleton pregnancy.

Describe your experience with Spring Fertility East Bay.
The clinic always had a warm, welcoming receptionist. Clinic space was clean and calming. I wish there was more free parking around the clinic. There is paid street parking which can be hard to find and a very expensive parking lot next door.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay.
Roughly $25k.
Describe Thomas Fisher's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility East Bay.
We transferred 3 day 3, untested embryos because of my low reserve. This was because we would lose embryos going from day 3 to 5 if we were to test the day 5 embryos for single transfer.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Fisher warm, compassionate and attentive. He clearly communicates every step involved with the IVF process. I saw him for most of my monitoring appointments and he has performed all of my egg retrievals. We have banked three euploid embryos so far from three retrievals, and are waiting for genetic results for five more embryos from my fourth round. We are very happy with our choice of doctor for IVF
Spring is a great experience. If only hospitals and primary care care providers are as on top of things as my fertility clinic, life would be so much easier. You don't have to know anything at the start of the IVF process but by the end, you will know a lot and it will have been pretty efficiently communicated by their team...Mel is very on top of things. She is super knowledgeable and available to answer questions on minutiae. I am very happy she is my nurse for this.

Ask questions. Overall, he is a great doctor for someone who prefers a more compassionate and gentler style of delivering information. (This is me.)
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Thomas Fisher at Spring Fertility East Bay?
Dr. Fisher is warm, attentive and kind. He is clear with communication and is empathetic in making sure we understand what could otherwise be confusing information for first time undergoing IVF. We are super happy we chose him as our doctor.
Describe the protocols Thomas Fisher used in your cycles at Spring Fertility East Bay and their degree of success.
We used mid-luteal for the first three retrieval rounds and Aygestin protocol + calcium ionophore for the fourth retrieval after a failed third round. Rationale for mid-luteal being more natural method of getting cohesive set of egg growth for each cohort. This worked well for the first and second rounds. So far we have 5 that made it to blast at fourth round with different protocol and are waiting for results of genetic testing.

Dr. Dovey was candid and on the warm side but not overly much. She listened to our concerns and had good information. She gave good sense recommendations and explained things clearly. We were happy working with [her] and would work with her agai...We did a more naturally timed transfer both times and that worked well for us (fewer meds and our expressed preference)...[she] spent a good deal of time with us answering questions and didn’t make us feel rushed. (Although she was efficient)
We had good experiences with Spring. You pay out of pocket and then reimburse with insurance after. There is a large nursing staff and several doctors so they are able to accommodate visits. There isn’t a ton of flexibility in time of day for some procedures/visits...Exam rooms were clean and all the staff we interacted with were friendly and competent. Billing was a little hard and the online portal is a little clunky but nothing that gave us pause

We did one egg retrieval and two singleton egg transfers. The egg transfer achieved the results we were looking for and we felt informed along the way. We did a more naturally timed transfer both times and that worked well for us (fewer meds and our expressed preference). The first transfer was a chemical pregnancy and the second resulted in a live birth. (Yay!)

I believe the egg retrieval was something like $17,000 and echo transfer was $7,000 or similar
