Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

How was your experience with Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr Tran used the right treatment for me so that I retrieved very good quality eggs with reasonable quantity. And I experienced minimal side effects. For example I didn't feel bloating at all till the trigger shot day. And after egg retrieval, I experienced no pain no bloating. I think Dr Tran really took care of me during the operation.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Spring is very transparent with all their test results and related medical educational information. You can be curious and read the information in the Salve app. Ask nurse if you have questions. I read all my test results and the educational information, and understood to quite an extent why Dr Tran chose the egg retrieval protocol for me, and why he personalized my trigger shot so that I didn't suffer any bloating nor pain, while still got good quality eggs.
Describe the protocols Nam Tran used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
I used mid-luteal protocal. My non-professional judgement on dosage of Gonal F, Menopur is that Dr Tran preferred not to over stimulate me. My trigger shot was just 1 shot of 80 unit Lupron. Dr Tran decided no extra trigger because he got my bloodwork the next morning after 1st trigger shot, saw my LH result was satisfactory. The results are: 1, I only felt a little discomfort after trigger shot before egg retrieval. The rest of the whole treatment I felt not impacted at all. 2, I got very satisfactory number of good quality eggs. Personal I prefer to have reasonably amount of good quality eggs than a great number of less quality eggs. Because after all, the result from each egg is binary, not a probability. 6 high quality eggs that leas to 1 healthy baby is better than 30 average quality eggs that results in a failed life birth.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Care coordinator is Michelle, nurse is Laurel)
My care coordinator is Michelle. I had other care coordinator before she took care of me. She is very organized and responsive. When it comes to critical event, like I had 3 consecutive days of blinking smiley face from the tester, she arranged for a bloodwork straight. My nurse is Laurel. I had to change my fertility plan mid way, she was quick to arrange for consultation, timely to update to Dr Tran, and she made sure I am ready for self administered injections along the way.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
Strength are: 1, Information transparency via Salve App 2, For my case, Dr Tran is quite experienced 3, Care team and nurse are responsive and knowledgeable Weaknesses: 1, Finance response is a little too slow. For example I asked for an itemized receipt for reimbursement purpose. There were no updates for days till I sent couple follow up messages. Then suddenly, the itemized receipt showed up in the Salve App. At the end I guess this is what happened behind the scene. It took a few days for Spring to see my payment show up in their system, then they place an order to issue itemized receipt, then it takes another several days for me to receive the itemized receipt. I could have avoided the feeling of suspend if the finance could give me a human written response (not the system generated response) that they acknowledged my request, they will place order once my payment shows up in their system, and it take days. They were taking action to get me my receipt, just overlooked to communicate to me that the chain of actions takes time.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
It was short and to the point. I could ask questions but answers wouldn't be specific till it comes closer to the trigger shot day.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
My costs go through my insurance first then my insurance bills me. So I can't tell exactly how much yet.
Describe Nam Tran's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
When it comes to embryo transfer, I will ask Dr Tran to tell me the benefits and risks of each then I will make my own decision.

would recommend Dr. [Murugappan] if you have an easy case and need a straight forward treatment...was very kind and gave "warm and fuzzy" feeling...made no change after we were getting poor results...continued with the same exact treatment plan for 6 egg retrieval cycles (2 were cancelled)
[Spring Fertility Silicon Valley] very organized and available when I had questions...fairly easy to make appointments at my requested times and little wait time...have nothing but good things to say about the nurses and care coordinator. They were wonderful and always available to answer questions and talk if I needed to.
How was your experience with Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I would recommend Dr. M if you have an easy case and need a straight forward treatment. She was very kind and gave "warm and fuzzy" feeling, which is sometimes really important as this is such an emotional process. However, I started to get frustrated and worried when she made no change after we were getting poor results. I asked repeatedly whether there should be any change or if there was anything else to consider in my case, and she said no and continued with the same exact treatment plan for 6 egg retrieval cycles (2 were cancelled). I finally went to another doctor to get a consultation and based on my medical records, she recommended in my first visit to test for endometriosis (along with other tests), which came back positive. Endometriosis is known to cause poor egg quality and this was never discussed as even an option with Dr. M. I am very upset that she never had a conversation with me about any "outside" factors to consider. It is estimated that 60% of infertility patients have endometriosis, so this should have been on Dr. M's radar and I have no idea why it wasn't brought up. I am angry about this and feel it caused me to waste time and insurance benefits. I have since treated my endometriosis and just completed another egg retrieval to make embryos in which we were much more successful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Advocate for yourself and if you are getting repeated poor results, switch doctors.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. M was very kind and warm in all of my interactions with her.
Describe the protocols Gaya Murugappan used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
Started cycles with 300 Gonal-F and 150 Menopur, plus omnitrope most cycles. Priming meds changed over the course of 6 stim cycles including Aygestin, estrogen, and lupron. Over the course of 4 retrievals, have 9 day 3 embryos stored (but some are quality).
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
I have nothing but good things to say about the nurses and care coordinator. They were wonderful and always available to answer questions and talk if I needed to.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
I found the clinic to be very organized and available when I had questions. It was fairly easy to make appointments at my requested times and little wait time. Regarding weaknesses, I think the only thing I would note is that that success rates for the Silicon Valley clinic within Spring Fertility are no where near as high as the other locations via SART data. When I first looked it up, Silicon Valley clinic data was not available as they are the newest location and I assumed it would be just as good as the other locations -- which was wrong. Through the course of my treatment, the data became available and success rates for Silicon Valley are much lower compared to SF and other locations, at least at the time of this writing.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
Mostly covered by insurance. Any "add-ons" were explicitly discussed and price was given.

Dr. Minjarez is great and caring...never felt rushed whenever I asked a question...made me feel very comfortable whenever I had my checkup with her and also the retrieval...Mid-lutheal - didn't retrieve as many eggs...(only did 1 lupron trigger) Changed it to duo-trigger with Novarel and lupron and got a better result
[Spring Fertility Silicon Valley] Strengths...team is lovely! Great communication from the front desk to the nurses. Weakness: This clinic has a rotational style of doctors on call...Alyssa was my primary nurse and she was lovely!...Rachel who was my care coordinator was amazing! Super responsive and sweet
How was your experience with Debra Minjarez at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Minjarez is great and caring. I never felt rushed whenever I asked a question. She made me feel very comfortable whenever I had my checkup with her and also the retrieval. I completely trusted her as my doctor and so grateful that she was able to do 4 out of 5 of my retrievals!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Debra Minjarez at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Ask as many questions as you need to! I never felt like I was bothering her when I asked questions no matter how small they may be.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Debra Minjarez at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I loved Dr. Minjarez and her team. Whenever I was at Spring, everyone treated me nicely and not just pushing through another checkup or bloodwork. Dr. Minjarez especially has great bedside manners and was always very warm and approachable whenever I ask questions.
Describe the protocols Debra Minjarez used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
Mid-lutheal - didn't retrieve as many eggs as I expected in the first round with this (only did 1 lupron trigger) Changed it to duo-trigger with Novarel and lupron and got a better result at my mature eggs
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Alyssa)
Alyssa was my primary nurse and she was lovely! I always had questions and would message them through the Salve App or by calling and I never felt that she was annoyed by it. Rachel who was my care coordinator was amazing! Super responsive and sweet.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
Strengths: Everyone on Dr. Minjarez's team is lovely! Great communication from the front desk to the nurses. Weakness: This clinic has a rotational style of doctors on call. I was lucky to have Dr. Minjarez do 4 out of my 5 retrievals. If that's important to you, I would definitely talk to the clinic and see if you could schedule your IVF based on when your doctor would be on call.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
Efficient. Most of my monitoring appointments were early in the morning and it was a quick check up and bloodwork. I was always seen right away and never had to wait longer than 5 minutes to be seen.

Dr. Tran is a clinical provider and he gives a lot of statistics. I felt like a positive statistic based on clinical success rates until I was not...is a well educated provider. He’s been doing this a long time but after my consultation, I felt comfortable with being under his care. However, after my first appointment, I never heard from him throughout my two cycles. I didn’t even see him pass through the hall during my many visits. When my partner and I reached out to discuss our options and get his weigh in on how we should proceed he made me feel like I had false positive expectations, which I did not. I knew my chances were minuscule.
I felt like a special patient at my [Spring Fertility Silicon Valley] consultation but quickly changed to being a number. Because I never saw my provider, I didn’t trust the process. I didn’t feel like they valued me time and made me feel like guilty about reaching out for next steps. I am not a warm and fuzzy kind of woman, but I deserve their time especially when I am looking to touch base about my fertility plan and next steps...I worked with a nurse practitioner. I did not speak to or see Dr. Tran after my consultation.

When my partner and I reached out to discuss our options and get his weigh in on how we should proceed he made me feel like I had false positive expectations, which I did not. I knew my chances were minuscule. I simple reached out to pick his brain on what he suggested we do given our goals. He took our call in a car and we could not hear him too well aside from comments about resetting expectations. It was then and there that I decided Spring was not for me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Tran is exactly what others patients describe him to be. Cut and dry and talks in statistics. It’s not a bad thing but a personal preference. If you are looking in warm and fuzzy, he is not for you. I don’t have experience with him in and IVF cycle so I cannot speak on that experience. I did not meet with him after for consultation (IUI).

Describe the protocols Nam Tran used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
I worked with a nurse practitioner. I did not speak to or see Dr. Tran after my consultation. I started with Clomid in day 2 or 3 of my cycle and visit the clinic every 2-3 days to check follicle growth. I triggered when their care coordinator (not RN) sent me a message that I was ready but the time was not specified. My IUIs were done between 42-45 hours after trigger. None took.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
I never got to speak to a nursing staff outside of the clinic. The staff at the clinic really only walked me in and scheduled my follow up appt. They were very nice. Outside of the clinic, I only ever had contact with their client services via app. They often mentioned a nurse would reach out to me but nope. Not even a medical assistant. I also was a patient as maybe an odd time…I had two different client services respond to my messages due to turnover. She seemed overwhelmed.

I spent about $5000 for 2 IUIs, not including medication.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
My partner was given an appointment for his collection and they later reached back out to reschedule because their lab could not accommodate it due to IVF procedures. Again, I don’t feel like they value procedures that are not IVF.

Dr. Tran is not anywhere near a "warm/fuzzy" type, but it was clear he was happy with our success and his advice was accurate (even if I didn't believe him myself)...He doesn't do much to try to connect with you on a personal level like other doctors might, but what I liked about him that I didn't get from other doctors...was the flexibility with the plan...explained very clearly the expected normal timeline and steps for IVF, and more importantly, was the only doctor who explicitly offered to consider a modified natural transfer (no progesterone shots).
The [Spring Fertility Silicon Valley] clinic is very efficient, which means that sometimes the human factor is lost; however, most of the face to face interactions I had with each employee was great...All of the ladies working there are nice, efficient, and helpful. The entire team who drew my blood were always so nice and accomodating, and I knew they really cared about me. I can't say enough about the efficiency of this clinic.
How was your experience with Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Tran was really on the spot about why we were having trouble conceiving. It's true his bedside manner is more cut and dry. He doesn't do much to try to connect with you on a personal level like other doctors might, but what I liked about him that I didn't get from other doctors (we were with another clinic and then switched, and I had interviewed a third clinic before deciding on spring) was the flexibility with the plan that I was looking for. Dr. Tran was the only fertliity doctor I saw (out of 3) who explained very clearly the expected normal timeline and steps for IVF, and more importantly, was the only doctor who explicitly offered to consider a modified natural transfer (no progesterone shots). I have a huge needle phobia and hate hormone drugs (but got desperate enough to try IVF), so the idea that there was flexibility there was really tempting. I did have to do the research on my own independently to find out that in some cases (such as mine) there's really no difference in positive results between a medicated and natural transfer but Dr. Tran was right. And, I was successful (so far - we are almost in the 2nd trimester now). The other great thing about Dr. Tran and Spring (which again, I think is what you get instead of lots of warm fuzzy interactions etc ) was the efficiency. I had my initial consultation at Spring during a time when they lost 2 or 3 doctors, yet Dr. Tran got me in for a consult and onto retrieval meds as soon as possible. There was no waiting line (at my first clinic, we had made the decision to move forward in October but could not start the process until January), no issues with not having shelf space for my embryos, etc.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
As other people have mentioned, make sure you read all the materials they give you and do your research and have a list of questions ready when you are meeting with him.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
The clinic is very efficient, which means that sometimes the human factor is lost; however, most of the face to face interactions I had with each employee was great. Yes, Dr. Tran is not anywhere near a "warm/fuzzy" type, but it was clear he was happy with our success and his advice was accurate (even if I didn't believe him myself). Because I was in the Silicon valley office, the doctors were on a rotating schedule, so I got to meet with both Dr. Minajarez and Dr. Muragappan. Dr. Minjarez was exactly that warm/fuzzy type and had an excellent bedside manner. Dr. Murugappan was friendly and nice, though she seemed to be a little rough around the edges on the bedside manner, I was fully confident in her abilities. Indeed, Dr. Murugappan did my retrieval and another procedure for me and I had minimal side effects for both.
Describe the protocols Nam Tran used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
Antagonist protocol, aggressive drugs. My retrieval was disappointing. The expectation given my blood test results and follicle counts was that I would get at least 15-20 eggs (even at my advanced age); however, only 7 were retrieved, and only 1 embryo tested PGT normal. By some miracle (or very good work on the part of the embryologists and the Spring team), this embryo stuck. The plan if the embryo didn't stick was to move to a mid-luteal phase retrieval next, so Dr. Tran is open to changing protocols.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Yan and Carla)
Yan was my first nurse and she was excellent for the most part. I never got to meet her but she was always very responsive to my questions and responded in a very reassuring way to most of my questions. Carla was my second nurse and she was fine as well. I had a friend who also had Carla as a nurse and she had a bad experience with her (not responsive etc). Overall I was satisfied with Carla, except there was one instance where she made a mistake on medication which threw off my schedule, which was very frustrating. I hate to admit that I lost my cool with her because of this. However, despite that setback, Carla still responded to my later inquires within a reasonable timeframe and was still pleasant to work with.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
The Silicon Valley clinic is great. All of the ladies working there are nice, efficient, and helpful. The entire team who drew my blood were always so nice and accomodating, and I knew they really cared about me. I can't say enough about the efficiency of this clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Nam Tran at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
I was insured under Progyny, so didn't deal with billing much.
Describe Nam Tran's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
No comments. We were committed to a single transfer from our discussions with our prior doctor so didn't discuss this with Dr. Tran. We also only had 1 embryo to transfer.
What specific things went wrong at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
One of my nurses failed to give me proper medication instruction (to continue taking something) which threw off my transfer to another cycle.

Dr. Harris is compassionate, empathetic, and real. He related to me and my husband on a personal level. We enjoyed seeing him for visits and appreciated his humor and candor...He truly cares and goes above and beyond. Dr. Harris was so understanding and compassionate, something we needed after 3 miscarriages and a whole lot of anxiety. His projections (for egg retrieval, etc) were spot on, and he was always happy to answer my 100 questions and allay my fears...
Spring puts a great effort into their customer service. Our patient navigator , Lauren, was fantastic - very timely and clear responses, and personable as well as compassionate. Staff was very helpful with medication coordination, even last minute. The facilities are beautiful with nice amenities. I appreciated the ability to do monitoring visits in the clinic closest to our home in SF though we drove to Sunnyvale for Dr. Harris...The whole Spring nursing team works together - I often got calls from nurses other than my own. They’re all very organized and helpful...
How was your experience with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I cannot recommend Dr. Harris enough. There are many options for IVF in the Bay Area and we could not be happier that he is our doctor. He is extremely intelligent and kicks butt at his job, but he’s very special in his ability to relate to his patients. He truly cares and goes above and beyond. Dr. Harris was so understanding and compassionate, something we needed after 3 miscarriages and a whole lot of anxiety. His projections (for egg retrieval, etc) were spot on, and he was always happy to answer my 100 questions and allay my fears. We would choose him again and again and recommend him to anyone and everyone. I should add that he is successful - as we currently have a perfect 5 week old boy after our 1 retrieval and 1 transfer :)

The whole Spring nursing team works together - I often got calls from nurses other than my own. They’re all very organized and helpful. Our one issue was that we did not feel we got complete answers from the nursing team, e.g. my husband was told to take a course of antibiotics after semen analysis but did not get a good understanding of why even after a talk with our nurse.

I had to call for our PGT results, and they’d been available for a few days; my understanding had been that they would call with results as soon as they’d been received.

Dr. Sara [Vaughn] has always set our expectations right in a very personable manner. She is geeky yet very friendly doctor...Right from our very first visit she was very informational, friendly and empathetic...Dr. Vaughn is a strong advocate of e-SET...She was very attentive to our needs during every visit and gave us excellent care...suggested us to go through another extraction cycle but when we insisted that we would like to get pregnant asap and think about next cycle in the future, she obliged with utmost care and empathy...
The nursing staff were our point of contact for any of our questions. Spring Silicon Valley's nursing staff and especially Dr. Vaughn's team of nurses and care team were highly knowledgeable and always ready to help...The clinic was in pristine condition with state-of-art equipment and facility. The front desk staff is very courteous and always available during business hours. The whole process of IVF (egg extraction) and e-SET was dealt with very carefully with utmost focus on cleanliness, sterility of the entire extraction+transfer regions of the clinic...
How was your experience with Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Vaughn was our assigned doctor when we started our IVF journey back in Oct/Nov 2021. Right from our very first visit she was very informational, friendly and empathetic. She got our requirements during our first meeting, which was immediate pregnancy. She was very attentive to our needs during every visit and gave us excellent care. We have a healthy, 2 week old, newborn now and it is all because of Dr. Vaughn's care, expertise and dexterity with embryo transfer earlier in 2022. Dr. Sara Vaughn is one of the best in the IVF field in Southbay.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
She is knowledgeable and thorough. Please trust in the process and Dr. Vaughn will deliver. :)

Dr. Sara has always set our expectations right in a very personable manner. She is geeky yet very friendly doctor.
Describe the protocols Sara Vaughn used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
Dr. Vaughn was always educating us about the IVF procedure, also suggested us to go through another extraction cycle but when we insisted that we would like to get pregnant asap and think about next cycle in the future, she obliged with utmost care and empathy. She was always there to help us in every which way possible through the long IVF process.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Gigi)
The nursing staff were our point of contact for any of our questions. Spring Silicon Valley's nursing staff and especially Dr. Vaughn's team of nurses and care team were highly knowledgeable and always ready to help. They suggested us to go with Alto Pharmacy and it was the best decision that we made. Alto was a breeze to deal with; along with same day deliveries for critical injections that we need for IVF priming.

Dr. Harris was always there for us on the tough days and took his time to answer questions and make sure we felt comfortable. We never felt rushed or dismissed and the one time we did have concerns and expressed them to him we truly felt heard...Dr. Harris handled every procedure I had, every appointment, and every transfer. He was always there to answer questions...has an amazing ability to make you feel safe and secure in the fact that he is doing all he can for you and your care but also keep things lighthearted and fun...
I met nurses [at Spring Fertility] who I really felt connected to and who made every effort to make me feel cared for throughout my experience. My care coordinator was also very helpful and patient managing what I know were a lot of emails from me...The clinic is beautiful and comfortable, the front desk was always warm and friendly. Another great thing was I had all but one of my appointments with Dr. Harris...
How was your experience with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
We went to Dr. Harris after suffering two miscarriages and seemingly no longer able to get pregnant. Dr. Harris was very optimistic even though we were not but it was nice to feel like we had someone in our corner. He went over what he thought would be the best course of action for us and heard our concerns and we agreed to go forward with IVF. Other than our first two embryo transfers which were done at the SF lab (Sunnyvale wasn't open yet), Dr. Harris handled every procedure I had, every appointment, and every transfer. He was always there to answer questions. Even on the bad days I would have a chuckle with him and was able to hold on the hope that one day we'd have good news. Dr. Harris has an amazing ability to make you feel safe and secure in the fact that he is doing all he can for you and your care but also keep things lighthearted and fun which is hard to do with such a delicate and personal situation like infertility.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
We found Dr. Harris to be very optimistic, which is great but at times I just wasn't there. I couldn't be optimistic and I told him that. He respected that and held that hope for us but allowed us the space to feel discouraged.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
We are so happy to have found Dr. Harris. Infertility is an emotional rollercoaster and Dr. Harris was always there for us on the tough days and took his time to answer questions and make sure we felt comfortable. We never felt rushed or dismissed and the one time we did have concerns and expressed them to him we truly felt heard.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Kimberly )
Overall my experience was great. I met nurses who I really felt connected to and who made every effort to make me feel cared for throughout my experience. My care coordinator was also very helpful and patient managing what I know were a lot of emails from me. I did run into some issues at a point where there was a bit of turnover and I felt a few details were being lost in translation but once I voiced my concerns the issues were quickly resolved. On the day I finally when in for my followup HCG test all my favorite nurses stood with my while they did my blood draw for the last time and hugged me and congratulated me. It was such a special moment for me.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
At the time I was at Spring the Sunnyvale clinic was very new and there was a lot of turnover with my assigned nurses (not clinic nurses) that was my biggest frustration early in my experience but I imagine that has since worked itself out and as previously mentioned, once I spoke to Dr .Harris and voiced my concerns and frustrations this never happened again. The clinic is beautiful and comfortable, the front desk was always warm and friendly. Another great thing was I had all but one of my appointments with Dr. Harris.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
Overall costs were close to $70k. This cost included 2 retrievals, 4 FET, genetic testing, medications, and other miscellaneous costs specific to my care.
What specific things went wrong at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
One time, during another case nurse switch I was told I was having a procedure that was incorrect. I was in fact having a procedure but she told me the wrong one which caused me to be confused and stressed out that we were missing the window for the procedure I needed. It was not in fact scheduled incorrectly, she simply told me the wrong information. It was quickly resolved.

She took time to get to know myself & my husband. She understood I needed to have a plan a,b,&c...For both transfers of my day 3 embryos we transferred 2 the first time & 3 the second time..Dr. Vaughn & I talked a lot about this before making the decision & in the end she would share what she suggests but it was always my decision...I never felt rushed during our appointments & on the off times I was seen by the on call doctor she was always hands on & would check in
I have nothing but good things to say about spring. Their work just in teaching people about infertility to their 5 star treatment of all clients. There is no cookie cutter one process for all mentality. All the doctors are warm, welcoming, & work with you to find the right treatment. I also love that everything was in house. From consultation to procedures all at one location & close to home
How was your experience with Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Vaughn was everything I would hope from a fertility doctor. She took time to get to know myself & my husband. She understood I needed to have a plan a,b,&c. Her team was quick to answer my questions & I never felt like I was as bothering her. I never felt rushed during our appointments & on the off times I was seen by the on call doctor she was always hands on & would check in. I never felt alone which to me is the most important.

Never be afraid to ask questions & advocate for yourself

Dr. Vaughn was there for me ever step but also was open & honest with me. Over the many rounds she knew I always wanted to talk next steps plan b & she would be honest when we weren’t there yet & when it was time.
Describe the protocols Sara Vaughn used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
This would be a novel if I went through all my cycles. Long story short, Dr. Vaughn & I used each cycle as a learning opportunity to see what my body responded to & what didn’t work. What I appreciated is that each cycle was it’s own no cookie cutter cycle each was based on where my body was at at that time & would try something new like adding supplements to help. Dr Vaughn helped me through each round every step of the way.

For both transfers of my day 3 embryos we transferred 2 the first time & 3 the second time. How was your experience with Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
After my (very short) intake appointment, Dr. Vaughn proceeded to have us go through all the labs to get started with treatment and required me to see a hematologist. I’m in my 30’s and have never had a bleeding disorder. This requirement to see a hematologist made no sense, but I went because we wanted to get moving with IVF. The hematologist laughed when I saw him and said he had no idea why Dr. Vaughn was wasting my time with the appointment. After getting cleared by the hematologist and having done all the labs, we thought we were moving forward. So I was shocked to get a call from a patient rep (not even Dr. Vaughn herself) stating she wasn’t going to move forward working with us. Basically she doesn’t want to work with couples of our religion. She clearly knew that she felt that way from the start. There was no effort made to assist us in the next steps. The day after that call from the patient rep, I saw a call come in from the Spring Clinic. I wasn’t able to answer as I was with my own patients, but assumed a message would be left. No message was left, but I continued to be called over and over between 4:07pm and 5:56pm. At that point I felt like I was being harassed. Turns out it was Dr. Vaughn calling over and over. The lack of professionalism in calling someone that many times in a row is appalling. Any provider with an ounce of common sense would leave a message and wait for a return call. I never did get to speak to her. I ended up spending with the founder of the clinic, Dr. Tran. I didn’t feel I got very far with him; he noted it would be hard for us to move to another doctor within the clinic because Dr. Vaughn is the medical director so she is over the other doctors at the clinic. So basically it wasn’t worth it to even see a different doctor at Spring because our case had already been tarnished by her opinion of us. He agreed we would be refunded for what we had paid for. I ended up working with the VP of Operations to get a refund. She had the nerve to send us a document saying we had to sign an agreement that included a confidentiality clause which would prohibit us from discussing our experience with anyone, including other doctors. We refused. If they want us to sign a confidentiality agreement it’s because they know she did something wrong and they don’t want anyone to know. We did end up getting a refund after a lot of back and forth. Shame on them for making it so stressful after what we had already gone through! We have since started treatment at another fertility clinic. My initial consult at the new clinic was very thorough and we were treated with respect. Now that I realize the level of care and respect I should have received by Dr. Vaughn, but clearly didn’t, I feel that she is a disgrace to the medical community.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Go anywhere else! This woman has zero respect for a patient’s individuality. She will only help those who fit her mold of what a patient should be. She has no remorse for wasting our time and money.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Vaughn was very rushed during my consult. She barely spent any time with me. She was hyper focused on our religious beliefs. She clearly didn’t want to have me as a patient but wasn’t professional enough to refer us to someone else.

Brief one-time consult followed by an ultrasound. Blood work for me and my partner. Semen analysis and Natera screening. That’s it - she never met with us again.

Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
Front office staff are friendly. The patient rep was lovely! I felt bad she was put in the middle of this situation in having to call us to tell us Dr. Vaughn would not continue with us. Dr. Vaughn should have made that call herself. Just shows her lack of respect for patients.

How was your experience with Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr Lee was absolutely amazing! She's incredibly supportive, easily accessible, invested in my care, not to mention genuinely authentic. Never dismissed any questions. She walked me through every scenario, what to expect next, etc. I honestly felt to at ease under her care. I knew I was in good hands. I think it helped that I had something to compare to as well - it was night and day. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor on my side
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Don't be afraid to ask any, and all questions. You have to be your own advocate.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr Lee was warm, always welcomed all questions I had. When I had my first consultation with her, I automatically felt at ease. The only reason I swayed and chose my original RE was solely due to years of experience. I thought logically, it would make sense to choose my former clinic based on that. Dr. Lee was fairly new to Spring. Long story short, I didn't have the best experience with my first RE. I felt like I was a number. After my first egg retrieval I decided to switch. My first call back at Spring, the care team made themselves available in giving me everything I needed to know re the process of transfer process. Communication with Dr Lee and her care team was always seamless. Someone was always available to answer my questions via email or call.
Describe the protocols Malinda Lee used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
The clinic is known for mid-luteal protocol. We had a very good success with this. Had 15 follicles at baseline, ultimately, 13 retrieved, 12 mature, 8 blasts, total of 4 euploid. Dr. Lee changed my dosage as needed to synchronize the growth of each follicle.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Jill)
Dr Lee's care team was great! There was a little mishap with my pharmacy and my brand only preference but other than that, everything was seamless. Both Jill & Natalie were a joy to work with. Always answered my emails/calls within the same day, super informative, attentive, & helpful.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
The Sunnyvale location is fairly new but you couldn't tell the difference in their operations. Clean, modern, and very warm. All the team members we encountered were always so positive, authentic, caring. As the clinic is growing, there seems to be a new face/addition but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I never really had to wait more than 5 minutes for any of my appointments.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
I have insurance coverage - didn't have had to deal with majority of the cost outside of deductible/OOP max

Dr. Vaughn is thoughtful, compassionate, professional, and always patiently and meticulously answered all of our questions. She was thoroughly prepared from the start, with slides to walk us through what to expect, presented it in an optimistic manner that was balanced by an honest appraisal, very data-driven but in a way even those without medical background can understand, and never missed the human element,
Spring has a very strong team. We had a great experience with other Spring fertility doctors who also help along the way, our anesthesiologists, and the whole nursing team from those who drew bloodwork to those who took care of me after egg retrievals and embryo transfers....Anny is caring and detail oriented. She explained the step-by-step procedures clearly and ahead of time so we had adequate preparation.
How was your experience with Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
We honestly couldn't have imagined a better experience. Dr. Vaughn is thoughtful, compassionate, professional, and always patiently and meticulously answered all of our questions. She was thoroughly prepared from the start, with slides to walk us through what to expect, presented it in an optimistic manner that was balanced by an honest appraisal, very data-driven but in a way even those without medical background can understand, and never missed the human element, even with the challenge of a virtual consultation amidst the first major wave of COVID-19. Added together this was very reassuring to us as the IVF journey can seem quite intimidating. Dr. Vaughn also planned the treatment according to our needs. At our first appointment, we told her if possible we'd like to plan having more than one child in the future. Based on the first egg retrieval results, she suggested a second one for a more comfortable margin of success given our family planning. Although we had been trying for more than a year and I wanted to be pregnant as soon as possible, we felt comfortable with her advice because she explained in detail the multitude of reasons why this was the smarter choice. After following her plan, we now should have enough healthy embryos.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Dr. Vaughn is very patient and she explains everything very clearly. It certainly helps ease a lot of potential anxiety. I remember after my first transfer failed, I asked Dr. Vaughn if we should implant multiple embryos instead of one to increase the chance of success. She told me that not only it will increase the risk of multiple births, it is also possible I’ll lose multiple healthy embryos if my body isn’t well-prepared. My second transfer was successful. Hang in there and don't give up.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Vaughn at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I genuinely felt cared for from Dr. Vaughn and the entire team at Spring.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Anny)

Spring has a very strong team. We had a great experience with other Spring fertility doctors who also help along the way, our anesthesiologists, and the whole nursing team from those who drew bloodwork to those who took care of me after egg retrievals and embryo transfers. Dr. Harris took the time to explain the process, set clear expectation backed by research numbers and explained the risks. I've done my research before the consultation and asked a lot of questions - he was warm and patient, willing to pause to explain/elaborate on what he said and let me take the time to take notes and digest the information...always greeted me with a warm smile and is able to articulate the results and decision to me in a thorough manner.
My [Spring Fertility] nurse of very thorough with her response when she reaches out. However, sometimes it takes longer than I would expect to get a response, I've gotten responses ranging from 12 hours to 5 days...Strengths: Clean, organized clinic with professional staff and doctors. Very speedy and timely from an operational standpoint which I truly appreciate during the phase where I needed to come in every other day for blood drawn. I also want to mention Spring's Financial Counselor. She has been extremely responsive, thorough and helpful in addressing any finance related problems I ran into

I've done my research before the consultation and asked a lot of questions - he was warm and patient, willing to pause to explain/elaborate on what he said and let me take the time to take notes and digest the information. As a person who really need to understand the data behind the decision to feel comfortable with the process, I really appreciate the time he took.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
It's a good idea to attend Spring's workshop to get an idea of the process; do your research and bring your questions/concerns to the consultation. Take the time you need to feel comfortable and understand the process.

My nurse of very thorough with her response when she reaches out. However, sometimes it takes longer than I would expect to get a response, I've gotten responses ranging from 12 hours to 5 days.

Strengths: Clean, organized clinic with professional staff and doctors. Very speedy and timely from an operational standpoint which I truly appreciate during the phase where I needed to come in every other day for blood drawn. I also want to mention Priscilla, Spring's Financial Counselor. She has been extremely responsive, thorough and helpful in addressing any finance related problems I ran into. Weaknesses: I would love to have better expectation set from a communication perspective.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
It was very efficient and easy to schedule monitoring appointments.

[Dr. Harris] was open and honest of all risk of each treatment and which one he recommended giving I have PCOS. During treatment I had a death in the family and he remembered and checked on us...After my second miscarriage he reassured me it wasn’t my fault and made sure I wasn’t blaming myself (which I was) and kept the line of communication open after I decided to take a break...prefers IUI over timed intercourse but does everything.
When I walked in all staff members [at Spring Fertility] knew my name and were happy to see me. When my blood work showed I was pregnant they all called and congratulated me. When I had my miscarriages they called and checked on me. The whole office was amazing...[nurses were] very friendly and caring throughout the whole process...After my second miscarriage [Dr. Harris] reassured me it wasn’t my fault and made sure I wasn’t blaming myself (which I was) and kept the line of communication open after I decided to take a break.

How was your experience with Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Lee is the most perfect combination of intelligent, kind, proactive, caring, knowledgeable and experienced. Graduating from her care and moving on to an OB was the most bittersweet experience. If I could have Dr Lee as my OB, primary care and the pediatrician for my daughter, that would be the absolute best.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Don’t hesitate! Once my blood tests came back normal at my primary care dr, I was told to wait until it had been a year before looking into fertility issues. As someone who hadn’t ovulated once in 5 months, I didn’t want to do that because I knew something was wrong. Dr. Lee looked into things that other doctors missed, and we were extremely blessed to be successful in our first cycle (even through Dr. Lee made it clear that we would take these steps for the first 3-6 cycles, and that it’s normal for it to take some time).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?

I asked for how many live births from people who thawed their eggs, doctor [Dr. Sara Vaughn] got defensive...Didn’t feel comfortable to ask questions, came back more confused than before. She kept saying that I don’t have a crystal ball to tell you everything. When I mentioned about if I should start now vs next year for insurance purposes, she was like you have to start immediately and then when I asked more questions, I was told that I am not confident or ready and can’t start process immediately - instead of my questions being answered. I left crying after my first appointment.
Well the [Spring Fertility] lab has very good statistics. That was the only reason I chose them. I had no clue throughout the process on whats happening. I was not told anything after each of the appointments. I would come back and ask my friends who had undergone the same treatment...I was told that I am not confident or ready and can’t start process immediately - instead of my questions being answered. with her [Dr. Lee] protocol, in one round of egg retrieval I got 16 eggs, and in the end got 3 blastocysts passed PGT-A (all are AA/AB level). This is already way better than my previous 4 rounds of egg retrieval results combined!!!!! Also not mentioning that she did every single ultrasound with her own hands, and never missed any one. And yes she did my egg retrieval surgery and egg transfer herself as well. All my questions got patiently answered along the way...
Spring fertility clinic is very efficient and well organized. The clinic is trying hard to provide a warm and caring environment for all of the patients. The doctors here are top notch yet caring as well. Comparing with many other clinics, Spring fertility would teach you how to prepare to max your chance for success, including eating Q10, exercise, sleep well, acupuncture, etc...
How was your experience with Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I was lucky to find Dr. Lee who finally ended the IVF journey for me, who is generally healthy, volunteered to do IVF to have a baby efficiently (and also egg freezing to save some hope for future), but unfortunately failed even egg retrievals for 4 times in the past 1 year with another well-known clinic. Being 36Y old, with AMH 5.15, FSH normal, AFC 10+ plus totally normal health check up results & generic carrier screening results, I thought my IVF case would be a fairly easy one. But unfortunately I had to go through the egg retrieval process for 4 times with prior clinic, which was totally unexpected. But it is also fortunate that I gained enough experience to compare, and thus confident to tell, what would a good doctor looks like. I don’t want to spend too much time to describe what I experienced with the previous clinic but just let the numbers speak. In the previous clinic, under the protocol defined by a very famous, experienced yet busy doctor, 4 egg retrieval circles in total, I got 26 eggs, 15+ fertilized, and ended up with only 2 D5 blastocysts passed PGT-A (1BB and 1CC). Each time the doctor defined the egg retrieval plan a few months beforehand, never showed up in any of my ultrasounds, and even the final trigger time was what his interns decided based on the doctor’s notes which was written 1 months ago. Every time when I got the upset results and want to discuss further with the doctor, I can only got the time spot like 3~4 weeks later, and for the 30 minutes session the doctor was always 20~25 minutes late. During the rest 5~10 minutes, he just read my charts to refresh his own memory but not be able to provide any more information beyond that. What finally triggered me to change doctor was because the last time I asked again why the egg retrieval results are not as good as expected, the doctor said, “It is just your body acting like age 42 which we can’t help with that at all. But the protocol is already the best solution and we will repeat again next time”. As someone who is fairly confident about her health condition (I work out A LOT) and actively doing research (even though I am not medical background) I don’t buy in that conclusion at all. I wanted to seek for the second opinion. I located Dr. Lee from Spring fertility clinic not by testing my luck again (like I did with the first clinic) but through very careful research of all the major fertility clinics in the bay area this time. I did check the success rate and talked to multiple doctors from different clinics. There are for sure many other famous clinics than Spring fertility, but none of them could start my treatment plan as efficiently as Spring fertility (most would need to wait for a few more months because they are already busy). And there are many doctors who are more experienced than Dr Lee, but none of them is more patient than Dr Lee to listen to my whole experience, to be willing to read my hundreds of charts carefully, to spend time doing more research to customize the protocol, and to dare to give totally different opinions against the prior doctor. I was very clear of what I need this time – I don’t need even bigger clinic names or even more famous doctor, I just need doctor who is knowledgeable enough, and yet caring enough for my case. “I believe there is a customized IVF plan for each patient” - Some doctor just say it, but some really show you the action. Dr Lee is the latter one. I bet on her, and I won this time. My experience with Spring fertility clinic and Dr Lee was excellent, especially when comparing with my previous upsetting experience. Dr Lee spent quality time to understand my charts carefully, and gave totally different protocol (and it works well this time!). Again – let numbers talk – with her protocol, in one round of egg retrieval I got 16 eggs, and in the end got 3 blastocysts passed PGT-A (all are AA/AB level). This is already way better than my previous 4 rounds of egg retrieval results combined!!!!! Also not mentioning that she did every single ultrasound with her own hands, and never missed any one. And yes she did my egg retrieval surgery and egg transfer herself as well. All my questions got patiently answered along the way, and currently when I am typing for this article, I am happily 12-week pregnant. My body condition didn’t change; but what changed the result? It is not the medical knowledge the doctors have, but also the time and effort they are willing to spend on you. Dr Lee has the best medical education and training background that any doctor would admire and she no doubt has enough medical knowledge to do the IVF job. And what’s more important is she works hard, she understands and cares about your suffer, and she treats you as a woman, but not just a number. I highly recommend Dr Lee to anyone who is seeking IVF treatment. You need a good and caring doctor to maximize the opportunity to success since the IVF is a tough and expensive journey. Do some more research on your clinic and doctor before you invest; and hope my experience above could help you to save some effort, emotion, and dollars.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
My overall feeling with Spring fertility clinic is very efficient and well organized. The clinic is trying hard to provide a warm and caring environment for all of the patients. The doctors here are top notch yet caring as well. Comparing with many other clinics, Spring fertility would teach you how to prepare to max your chance for success, including eating Q10, exercise, sleep well, acupuncture, etc. Every little effort counts.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Malinda Lee at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
My insurance covered all the cost so I didn't worry about the cost during the whole process.

[Dr. Malinda Lee] was amazing. She spent a lot of time explaining each steps and also understood the pain the patient is going through. Even on day where I only go in for a blood draw, Dr. Lee will swing by to check if I am doing okay. Very thoughtful and caring doctor...Everyone was very professional and caring..
Everyone in the [Spring Fertility] clinic were very helpful including the finance team. Check in was fast and the team get you in very quickly as well. I enjoyed my visit every time. One note to improve is during the egg retrieval, maybe provide a thicker blanket during winter time as it can get pretty cold...Everyone was very professional and caring
