Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

He knew my name, but was not very accepting of questions being asked...Dr. Welden is a soft-spoken older gentleman who has 43 years of experience in his field. That is where the positive aspects stop. ...He also told me that in the last two years of freezing on fertilized eggs, they have never had a successful Frozen transfer because the compounds they use to freeze destroys the chromosomes of the eggs. I was obviously unaware of this when I asked him to freeze, and his paperwork that he gave me to read over specifically states that they freeze embryos
This entire practice [Ctr For Repro Med] is a mess. Dr. Wheldon's wife... had a horrible bedside Manner, and constantly brought her dog into the office and would let it roam around by my feet while she was drawing my blood. the front desk receptionist name Alice could never keep my information straight...Every single time I went in for bloodwork, probably over a dozen times, she missed my vein at least once, sometimes twice. She was also horribly unorganized in relaying how to use my medication.
How was your experience with Stephen Welden at Tampa Bay Infertility (closed)?
Dr. Welden is a soft-spoken older gentleman who has 43 years of experience in his field. That is where the positive aspects stop. He did 2 i u i procedures on me, both ended with no pregnancy. We moved on to IVF. My med schedule was fine, I responded very well to my injections. The day of retrieval he pulled 26 eggs. When I woke up, he said everything looked great. He asked if we wanted to freeze the remaining, and we said of course. 5 days later I went back in for my transfer, with two beautiful embryos. 4 days after transfer I began bleeding. When I went in for a checkup, he walked in the office and asked what I had done to mess up his wonderful work. The bleeding turned out to be a tiny hemorrhage that he said was not going to affect the embryos at all. When I got my Beta back it was 16, he was concerned it was low, did another betta, my pregnancy ended in a chemical. When I went back in a few days later to discuss transferring Frozen embryos, he told me that his Clinic no longer freezes fertilized eggs, they now only freeze unfertilized eggs. He also told me that in the last two years of freezing on fertilized eggs, they have never had a successful Frozen transfer because the compounds they use to freeze destroys the chromosomes of the eggs. I was obviously unaware of this when I asked him to freeze, and his paperwork that he gave me to read over specifically states that they freeze embryos

Describe your experience with your nurse at Tampa Bay Infertility (closed). (Assigned nurse: Tina McCoy)
My nurse, Tina McCoy, was the only one in charge of doing my blood work. Every single time I went in for bloodwork, probably over a dozen times, she missed my vein at least once, sometimes twice. She was also horribly unorganized in relaying how to use my medication. When I receive my gonal shots, I brought them into her so she could show me the best way to use them. She repeatedly told me to put the shot in my rear and. I asked her twice in that conversation if I should put them in my tummy instead, and she told me no. Thankfully I knew from research that the shots did in fact go in my stomach. By the end of the conversation she realized that she had misinformed me and quickly corrected me. She is also the nurse who called me with my results of my first beta, done for days after transfer. She said that my progesterone was dangerously low. I asked her repeatedly, multiple times in the next few days if I could up my dose of progesterone in oil, or have some sort of progesterone supplement in the form of a suppository or pill. She told me that too much progesterone was dangerous, and she would not write me a prescription for any sort of supplement. I lost my pregnancy because my progesterone never Rose to a normal level. After my loss, and speaking to the actual doctor, he told me that he doesn't know why Tina would have told me that, there is no bad side effects to too much progesterone, and that he would have written me a prescription for a supplement

This entire practice is a mess. Dr. Wheldon's wife, Lenora Welden, who is also a nurse, would fill in on the weekends doing blood work and whatnot. She had a horrible bedside Manner, and constantly brought her dog into the office and would let it roam around by my feet while she was drawing my blood. the front desk receptionist name Alice could never keep my information straight

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Tampa Bay Infertility (closed).
Dr Welden is a horrible man who will take your money and leave you with nothing. For the last two years he has been freezing on fertilized embryos, knowing very well that his freezing process does not work. I am saddened to think about how many women he has done this to. Nurse Tina McCoy should not be working in medicine at all
