Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Steinberg was able to tell me that I have PCOS ... He did a great job explaining everything to my husband and I. ... I took Lupron injections daily along with estrace tablets and then progesterone shots a week before the FET. ... He took the time to explain every detail from beginning to end and was able to tell me in 5 minutes why I wasn’t getting pregnant when I’ve seen several specialists over 9 years who could tell me nothing. ...
The whole team [The Fertility Institutes] does a great job welcoming you into the practice and wants you to be successful in conceiving the sex of your choice. That is why we chose them. ... At times, Anna made me feel like I was bothering her and that made me sad going through this and not feeling like I could always talk to her. I now seem to work primarily with Angela who has been wonderful.
How was your experience with Jeffrey Steinberg at The Fertility Institutes?
From the very first visit and within five minutes of examining me, Dr. Steinberg was able to tell me that I have PCOS, my eggs don’t drop and that he can definitely get my husband and I pregnant if that it is what we wanted. He did a great job explaining everything to my husband and I. In his absence, Dr. Presser did our second FET and was absolutely amazing!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey Steinberg at The Fertility Institutes?
He is open to ALL the questions you want to ask and has heard them all and then some. So don’t be shy to ask anything.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey Steinberg at The Fertility Institutes?
He took the time to explain every detail from beginning to end and was able to tell me in 5 minutes why I wasn’t getting pregnant when I’ve seen several specialists over 9 years who could tell me nothing.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey Steinberg used in your cycles at The Fertility Institutes and their degree of success.
We did treatment for roughly two weeks before the egg-straction. After that, I got sick during the 5-6 days of growing the embryos and had to wait a couple of months before the very first FET. I took Lupron injections daily along with estrace tablets and then progesterone shots a week before the FET.
Describe your experience with your nurse at The Fertility Institutes. (Assigned nurse: Anna)
Overall the staff was great. At times, Anna made me feel like I was bothering her and that made me sad going through this and not feeling like I could always talk to her. I now seem to work primarily with Angela who has been wonderful.
Describe your experience with The Fertility Institutes.
This isn’t really a strength or a weakness but we live on the east coast with a west coast doctor which makes it a little difficult sometimes with the time change. They have been great. The whole team does a great job welcoming you into the practice and wants you to be successful in conceiving the sex of your choice. That is why we chose them.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey Steinberg at The Fertility Institutes.
We had one egg retrieval down, and two rounds of FET. With that, freezing our remaining embryos and medications, we are at $30k-$35k

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr Presser first wanted me to do quite a few tests, mostly hormones, in addition to the standard Day 3 tests and ultrasound. ... So far I just had a consultation about IVF with him, where he examined my history very fully and gave some lifestyle and lab test recommendations. Fairly blunt, but not rude, and at this point I would rather have it straight.
Clinic [The Fertility Institutes] was nice and clean, relatively short waiting times, never waited more than 20 minutes. They have reduced their hours due to coronavirus, bit I was still able to get a response from Ana the nurse when I needed. They have a portal and an app to communicate with staff, upload documents, which is very helpful with the current situation.
How was your experience with Steven Presser at The Fertility Institutes?
So far I just had a consultation about IVF with him, where he examined my history very fully and gave some lifestyle and lab test recommendations. Fairly blunt, but not rude, and at this point I would rather have it straight. Unfortunately I did not get more communication with him after the quarantine started, but the nurse and front desk have been helpful in keeping me on track with my treatment. Hopefully I can add to this review as things advance; I’m just about to start my first IVF cycle!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Steven Presser at The Fertility Institutes?
Collect as much information about your situation as you can, he is willing to look over it and question you to get to the bottom of it. The more you know the better!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Steven Presser at The Fertility Institutes?
I felt a little uncomfortable to have yet another consultation (I had to switch providers for distance and financial reasons), but I liked that he thoroughly questioned everything on my chart, which he obviously read in advance. He was shocked that I was only diagnosed with “unexplained infertility” before, and asked to do some tests to rule out PCOS or other hormonal disorders. Later even called me to confirm what tests need to be done. After the Covid-19 pandemic started, I have had no communication with him and have not discussed my results with him, but was helped by the nurse with the next steps.
Describe the protocols Steven Presser used in your cycles at The Fertility Institutes and their degree of success.
I went to this clinic for a consultation to consider IVF. Dr Presser first wanted me to do quite a few tests, mostly hormones, in addition to the standard Day 3 tests and ultrasound. I would do the blood work at another clinic as this one charges quite a bit. Even without insurance coverage you can find affordable testing labs. He even advised me to do the same so I can save money. I have not talked to him since the initial consultation, but I am continuing with an IVF protocol, which at this point is a week or two of birth control starting on cycle day 1, them stimulation phase, egg retrieval, and transfer. I have yet to start the birth control, still waiting for my next period, so too early to tell the results.
Describe your experience with your nurse at The Fertility Institutes. (Assigned nurse: Ana Portillo)
I’m still early in my treatment, in fact haven’t started the actual IVF, but at this point Ana explained what I need to do next to start it. I was frustrated when the clinic reduced its hours and I couldn’t talk to any doctor, but I was always able to reach her and she even provided me with the initial prescription (birth control, before the stimulation step), so I can start even if the clinic is closed. So, for now I’m waiting to start and we will see what’s next!
Describe your experience with The Fertility Institutes.
Clinic was nice and clean, relatively short waiting times, never waited more than 20 minutes. They have reduced their hours due to coronavirus, bit I was still able to get a response from Ana the nurse when I needed. They have a portal and an app to communicate with staff, upload documents, which is very helpful with the current situation. One thing that surprised me was that most staff did not wear masks when we visited in mid April. Maybe it’s not a big deal if you keep your distance, which they did, but I feel it would help patients feel comfortable. They did sanitize surfaces after use though. I so feel like there is low coordination among staff, but again it is too early to tell as I have not technically started the IVF treatment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Steven Presser at The Fertility Institutes.
The base IVF cycle is just under $6,000, including a fresh transfer and freezing embryos, with extra costs for medication, anesthesia, ICSI, FET, and extra monitoring. They offer prenatal screening too, but it was around $800 a week, so not reasonable, especially if you can get it free by your insurance. If you’re considering freezing embryos rather than doing a fresh transfer due to the pandemic, prepare to spend another $5,000 for a FET. Still overall cheaper than many others in the area.
