9.6
Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

We used several different strategies [with Dr. Bradley Van Voorhis] including a standard cycle, a micro flare cycle, and estrogen priming. I felt they used the results from previous cycles to help make the best decisions for me. While we never produced lots of embryos to freeze, we were blessed with 75% of our cycles resulting in pregnancy.... Dr. Van Voohris is extremely knowledgeable. He respects the patients wishes while also sharing likelihood of success. He involves the patient in decision making and is respectful of the financial and emotional issues involved in treatment.
The nursing staff [at U of Iowa Center for Advanced Reproductive Care] was helpful with timelines and schedules. I often saw the same nurses which helped with consistency. They followed up with the doctor and got back to me as needed.... The clinic is clean, well organized, and timely. They have a good clinical team and the doctors work together for treatment. They have a dedicated waiting room which is nice for infertility patients.

She [Dr. Shah] was very honest and compassionate. This wasn't our first cycle so we knew what to expect, but she still went over everything thoroughly. Overall she just came off warm and caring at a point in our lives when we were fragile...she embraces educating her patients on their treatment...We used a very strong protocol with ganorelix. I did not produce a lot of mature oocytes. And our fertilization rates were low as well. With PGD and PGS after all.of this we typically ended up with 1 or 2 embryos per cycle.
Dr. Sparks in the lab [at U of Iowa Center for Advanced Reproductive Care] is at the top of her field and does an excellent job teaching you about the process. I felt knowledgable about our situation and the process. Appointments run on time and there wasn't a long wait to get in initially...[The nurses were] Absolutely amazing!!! I came to love these women, from the ultrasound tech's to nurses they went above and beyond to welcome you into this family.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Eapen was very straightforward. We asked a question and he would answer it honestly. He asked us what we wanted to do and made his suggestions. I was very pleased with the testing he ordered to get us some answers....seemed to really care about me as a patient. He actually spent time talking with my husband and I to get to know us. He asked us what we wanted. He asks me to keep in touch every cycle and is very fast with responding to me. He is a very kind person.
The nursing staff [at U of Iowa Center for Advanced Reproductive Care] was very friendly and seemed to do their job proficiently...My insurance doesn't cover any infertility treatments. My initial appointment cost about $400...The clinic is very calming. I was surprised to walk in and see how the waiting area is set up. It's like a private little booth to wait in, it really helped calm my nerves. The exam room also seemed "relaxing" for lack of a better word. The lab staff and ultrasound tech were very friendly as well. It doesn't feel so "clinical"

Dr. Ryan insisted on eSET because we had an amazing hatching blastocyst available. I was hesitant about this because I had experienced multiple fresh cycle failures in the past at another clinic. I put my trust in Dr. Ryan and was blessed with a healthy singleton pregnancy resulting in a beautiful baby girl at full term.

The provider [Dr. Duran] was excellent, took time with me and didn't rush...He always made me feel heard and he answered my concerns with validation. I appreciated how I didn't feel like a number with him but that he really cared about our outcome...
Strength [at University of Iowa Center for Advanced Reproductive Care]- the doctors, their machines and technology, The lab techs, the nurses in the surgery suites, their experience Weakness- the nurses (mainly just Ali) otherwise most of the other nurses were great...However Ali was extremely uncompassionate and I always dreded having to speak with her. I would usually cry each time we hung up because she was so negative.

He [Dr Duran] was down to earth, honest and had a plan beyond this cycle in case it was another bfn. He spent 45 minutes with us discussing all our concerns and past treatment...He was very invested in our journey, knowledgeable and explain things on our level...We had done 4 IUI prior but I felt timing was off so we proceeded with the same course of action because he felt confident our chances were good. I did a final round of Femara and IUI with success...The nurse did our IUI procedure and even let my husband assist and explained everything very well...Great flow, everyone was very friendly from front staff, ultrasound, nurses and doctor

Which I really appreciate...Great doctor and you can tell he loves what he does...I am often embarrassed of my PCOS...He made me feel hopeful again...Medicated cycles using Letrozole have not been successful so we stopped and prepared for IVF
[The staff at U of Iowa Center for Advanced Reproductive Care] are great at keeping you informed. They said the best chance at a quick response is online messaging. Which has been proven to be true. Great doctor and you can tell he loves what he does. I am often embarrassed of my PCOS because I feel like I’m the reason my husband doesn’t have children yet. He made me feel hopeful again. Dr. Kresowick is a great doctor. We only saw her 1-2 times during each of my transfers, but she still did a great job managing my treatment. She was also quick to act if something goes wrong and the plan needs to be changed. After 4 years, and multiple losses, we were finally successful with her!...We did one embryo with our first fresh transfer, and only had one remaining viable embryo for our fet. We never had the opportunity to discuss transferring more than one embryo for future attempts.
University of Iowa seems to have a strong preference towards eSet...The quad cities location is great. Everyone is friendly and will remember who you are after the first visit. The office is very clean and organized. They bring you back quickly and wait time is minimal...The entire nursing staff at the Quad Cities location is absolutely amazing. They always call back quickly and always take the time to talk with you...Total cost was around $24k with embryo retrieval, medications, pgs testing, transfer and freezing.

The staff [at Univ of IA Center for Advanced Reproductive Care] is amazing with the exception of the afternoon ultrasound tech. She is callous and borders on rude. Everyone else there is absolutely amazing and makes up for this. I recommend this clinic highly.... The entire nursing staff is fantastic. The only individual there that is not is the afternoon ultrasound tech and I expressed my complaint about her to staff.

Very private, one on one care [by Dr. Jessica Kresowik]...Very friendly. Made us feel very comfortable. Answered every question we had. We were so nervous and scared, but we were reassured by Dr. Kresowik for this journey. We did the HSG test first to make sure the fallopian tubes were open. Which they were. We were told that even though nothing is wrong as can be seen. The IUI still may not take...
[U of Iowa Center for Advanced Reproductive Care is] Very clean, quiet. Great technology. Someone always calls you back. Being in the University of Iowa network you can drive to the University hospital for more 'help'. The clinic has a lot of resources and guides to research yourself further...[nurses are] Very friendly, open. Spoke very 'frank' which I loved...The HSG was the most expensive thing. All the way to the thawing out of sperm before IUI.
