My husband and I have been a patient of Dr. Khorram for 2 years. I was referred to him by my OBGYN due to the fact that I only have a 1% chance on conceiving on my own. What we have to work with- one ovary and one blocked tube. I had my left side removed when I was 15 yrs old. Before diving into IVF, I did get a second opinion. The doctor I saw had gone through fertility treatment herself with Khorram. She warned me about his dry character but she said he gets the job done. She said, "he doesn't explain much, his a man of little words but he'll get you pregnant." When meeting with him I totally saw what she meant. Interestingly enough, my husband liked his attitude. He said he didn't feel like a salesman and was direct. The reason we worked with him for so long was due to some obstacles that came our way. I had a polyp on my uterus wall so I had to get that removed, then a cyst that wouldn't go away, then I got cold feet and then Khorram was going on vacation when retrieval was going to happen. Finally, we went through the first part even with the pandemic going on. I was sure he was going to cancel my cycle but they said I was exempt due to the fact that I had already started treatment. When he gave us the go on treatment, he gave us a sheet with instructions. He read it to us and that was it, no explanation on how I would probably feel, what was the medication was going to stimulate or anything. I was so nervous about starting, I honestly didn't even ask a question. We saw him every two days for ultrasounds and further instructions. Then I started to ask more questions. He honestly shares the minimal but he knows what he's doing. Finally, he said I was ready for retrieval and it was a pretty dry experience. Checked in at 6:20 am, I was done by 7 am. He shared that he was able to retrieve 12 eggs vs 9 that he saw on the ultrasound. After he shared that he left for the day. I rested probably 30min after. The nurse came in, removed my IV, explained what I would feel for the next two weeks and she went home for the day. My husband helped out of the office to the car and we were done. We didn't get any follow-up calls aside from the embryologist.

Be Prepared! Do your research about the process, meds, egg retrieval process (he didn't explain anything about the process), aftercare, just everything. If you don't ask questions, he won't explain anything. So know the process to be able to have questions ready for him. He doesn't mean wrong and he'll definitely answer your questions but he won't elaborate on anything if you don't ask. Also, know that appointments take forever! I once had an appointment at 3:30 pm, I wasn't seen till 6:30 pm. I heard he did a mock transfer for someone that wasn't scheduled for that. I also heard that he only works Monday, Wednesday, Friday's and Saturdays in the office. So the pack in his appointments. He's a nice guy but his dry, just know that.

Since my circumstances were pretty straight forward with a blocked tube, he said the process was pretty simple. He said all we had to do was try with the meds and see how many eggs we get. I did ask him what if I don't produce enough eggs since I only have one ovary, he reassured me is that all we need is one good egg to get pregnant. That gave me hope. When I had the cyst on my ovary, his strategy was to get me off birth control to see if that will make the cyst go down. Thankfully it did go away.

Ultrasound appointments were pretty easy to get. They said since the appointments were fast, they could schedule them at any time. I really like that there open on Saturdays. It made it easier for my husband to come along. They were also really flexiable with appointments.

We paid everything out of pocket. I remember everything! Retrieval was $6700 which included ultrasounds, monitoring appointments, and med instruction. To freeze our embryos was $700 for one year. PGS testing, $4150 up to 8 embryos. Meds came from overseas which you order yourself through a website which I think was a little over $4000. The anesthesia fee was $350 cash on retrieval day. Transfer is going to be $2400.

His transfer approach which he said in our first consultation was to transfer 2 embryos at a time, no more than 2 at a time. We plan on transferring 2 the first round and 1 the second round. Since we are currently in a pandemic, I opted to do transfer when everything clears out. He said that was a good idea.

Dr. Khorram has been working with infertility for a long time. He is the type of person that feels like an expert, because he is, not really makes you understand and feel he is in charged. I met with him prior to completing an IVF cycle at another clinic, and decided to try with a different doctor as he was not warm or friendly. For my second cycle, I decided to give him a try because I heard they have a good lab. He listened to my concerns and gave me his opinion regarding different protocols that other doctors were suggesting. I haven’t started my cycle with him, but until now, everything is going well

Don’t expect a warm, friendly doctor but does let that be a reason to not give him a chance. He is very straight forward and would prescribe you the treatment he feels is appropriate without further discussion, however, if you have thirst for knowledge like me, he will answer your questions, but you need to come prepare.

Compared with other doctors I consulted with, Dr Khorram’s protocol was the one with less medication (no dosage but type of medication), mainly menopur. I still haven’t try them but based on my research, it should have similar results than my last protocol. I’m excited to try it

The price is affordable. I’m paying out of pocket and because I already did all of the diagnostic testing in the last clinic, the cost of IVF with meds is about 11 to 12k. No genetic testing

He is open to multiple embryo transfer (2)

He seemed nice and professional. I didn’t have much questions for him. He did give me an ultrasound and said I had plenty of eggs & to follow his prescription instructions. Then, I never heard from him again.

The X-ray tech that they recommend for an HSG, does not have many appointments open. Also, she kept canceling on me. I would give the advice to ask if there are alternate places that you can go to.

Well, the billing lady mailed me a incorrect statement. She apologized, and was nice.

I believe he did mention multiple embryo transfer, but I didn’t ask much questions about the process.

Strengths would be that the cost of the procedures are very affordable and they will work during holidays. Negatives is that he is very poor at communicator, very cold demeanor and I would feel confused at times with the reasons for what he chose to do for my protocol. When I would ask him to clarify, he would often give one word answers and again, I would be left feeling confused.

As long as you know and can accept that Dr. Khorram is going to be cold and short with you, you'll be fine. I had a difficult time with that style of communication. Especially during our IVF processes as it had a lot of ups and downs due to my health issues.

Get ready to wait a long time if you are monitoring on the weekends. At times we would need to wait 3 hours to be seen. If it was during the week, it would take around 30 mins.

Very afforable! Our full cycle for IVF was around $13,000

Dr Khorram is very knowledgeable and was very accurate with timing my cycles. He doesn’t reject any patient and in return the clinic is very busy. He usually will not explain what he’s looking for during an ultrasound unless I ask. After each ultrasound he takes patients to his office to give next steps. This is where I get to ask more questions also.

Be very patient with wait times and give yourself at least 2 hours even though your appointment will only take 10-15 minutes.

First cycle he had me take 2 viles of stim hormones in AM and 2 viles in PM. For my second cycle he upped the dosage to 3 viles AM & PM. He also did a fresh cycle with 5 day embryos the first time, the second time he did a frozen embryo transfer 2 months after egg retrieval.

For my first IVF cycle with Stims, pills, a fresh cycle and PGS testing, we paid about $18K. For our second IVF round, with a frozen cycle and no PGS testing we have spent so far about $15K, but we are still in the middle of it.

Dr Kim is the embryologist, he lacks people skills and lacks compassion. He diagnosed me with poor egg quality by comparing my embryos with older women who had better embryos from better eggs than I had. I hated this day, and I hate him.

Dr. Khorram doesn’t sugar coat and can have no emotion when he tells you what’s going on with your IVF process. Even his emails can be short using one word answers or least comments as possible. I give him the excuse that he’s probably real busy answering other emails and voice messages, which is the cause for his short answers.

He is honest and will tell you as it is. He is ethical and won’t do anything that he thinks is wrong to do just for the money. He cares more to give you a baby than get that extra cash.

Dr. Khorram followed my other RE’s protocol for the most part with stimulation treatment because I supposedly responded well with the treatment at the time. Of course he added more because IVF requires more medications.

I bled upon my transfer day when Dr. Khorram was about to transfer 3 embryos. Because of the unexplained bleeding, he told me he couldn’t continue because bleeding and embryos don’t mix. Therefore, he said that he’d have to freeze my embryos then and start me on birth control. Still currently in progress.

Through the appointment the doctor projects confidence and expertise. I trusted him on day one. He made me feel comfortable without trying to to tip toe around the topic. I loved that he was direct. I actually appreciate that this doctor does not tap into emotions very much. I feel it helps keep me as a patient focused on the facts. I felt this way after my first round of ivf , but during the second egg retrieval i felt as if it took him too long to put interventions into place and time was wasted. There were Certain medical interventions on the market that he did not believe were valid he didn’t hide that he didn’t agree. I felt I had to convince and argue for added testing. As if I needed to advocate for myself with my own fertility doctor. Although I believe in self advocacy I strongly believe your doctor should be on your side or at least reflect that feeling.

If you have a question then ask him. After the first appointment he will give you only the information that is relevant to the current stage of your treatment at every additional appointment. Yes, his cost is lower than others BUT I wonder if there is a cost to this. I wonder what the quality of lab is. I have to repeat ask the questions you have even if you feel rushed out. Do not leave until you feel at ease.

Doctor transfer multiple embryos first transfer which they were not PGS tested and poor quality. Second transfer he transferred a single better quality embryo PGS tested normal (failed) Third transfer 2 genetically normal embryos( failed)

Dr. Khorram was a hands on doctor. He performed all of the procedures and ultrasounds himself. My only concern was that he was not good at communicating any of the information. He would only give you minimal information. Although if you had questions he would answer them so be prepared every time you go with a list of questions.

This doctor is very affordable and I am very grateful I conceived my twins with him, however, you have to raise your voice and ask questions. They will not hold your hand through the process, they give you the information once and you better remember every detail. You have to advocate for yourself. Speak up!

After my 3rd IVF failed transfer I asked the doctor for a different treatment or protocol as the other attempts obviously were not working. It was only because I asked that we changed the medication and tried a new medication. I firmly believe this is the only reason the 4th transfer worked. Again, this would not have occurred if I had not requested it.

I did two retrievals and four transfers. I spent over $20,000.

Doctor always wanted to transfer multiple embryos based on the quality of my embryos which I understood. However, I was informed that if I got pregnant with more than two I would be forced to terminate one of the embryos, which would not have happened willingly. I agreed only to move forward with the procedure.

When I emailed Dr. Khorran on Sunday night I received a response. He worked long hours and took his time with patients so he was worth the wait. He worked holidays and late hours. He was honest about my treatment.

Get your prices upfront at first appointment. Get there on time. He is great and worth the 2 -3 hour wait.

I did I surrogacy transfer so my protocol was synced up to my Surrogate and I took the fertility medication, did the egg retrieval had a 5 day transfer and last the 2 week wait

Dr. Khorram is a very intelligent doctor and I trust he knows best. He could use some improvement on bedside manner, and explaining procedures to his patients. If I had a question I kind of felt like he was rushed or a little dumb for asking.

Have questions written down. Don’t expect a lot of enthusiasm from Dr. Khorram. But trust that he is very good at what he does.

I believe my first round was very typical, a lot of ultrasound appointments to check my ovaries for eggs. Egg retrieval was normal. We waited about 3 days to put two embryos back in.

The single embryo transfer was our choice. He pushed us to put in two, but we only wanted one as we had experienced twins and the stress on my body already. We should have listened, the one did not take. He told me it was because we only put in one.

Initially, when we went in for consultation. I had doubts with him. I didn't feel that he was caring enough. But I was wrong. He was straight forward and a great Dr. He is very caring and also try to help you save money with the medicine. But be warned, even with appointment, you will need to wait at least an hour to see him but be patient, and ask lot of questions. I am now 5 months pregnant.

Be patience and ask lot of questions.

Fertility drugs was prescribed to us and he based your needs and adjust the dosage. He took his time and make sure your body is ready to start the treatment. After ovulation, he took his time for the egg retrieval and implantation.

Cost is very reasonable. Definitely a plus

We did 2 embryos transfer but only 1 survive

Dr Khorram follows a set protocol, but will change things based on your response. He does not use high doses of meds. He did every ultrasound and visit personally. He is always available To answer your questions.

Be patient. He's the only doctor in his office

Dr k. Used low dose stimulation protocols. He uses birth control instead of lupron.

Dr k does everything himself so there is usually a wait. He is the only one that does appointments and ultrasounds and consults.

The cost of an ivf cycle was around 7,500 and a frozen transfer was 2,200

Dr k does do multiple embryo Transfers especially for older patients

He comes off with little personality but he know his stuff and is very low priced. We were successful with both transfers. He is very professional and even thought I should just try again naturally. I saw him most every time I went to his office and he performed the egg retrial and egg transfer.

Make sure you keep on top of everything, the front staff can make mistakes

He was professional but did not have the absolute best bedside manner. A little bit of compassion at this time could probably go a long way. I had to probe a lot and ask lots of follow up questions in order to get the info I wanted

Go into understanding what his personality is like ahead of Time

He did follow a systematic algorithm. Started with birth control pills to suppress all the hormones. Then menopur injections for follicle Stimulation. Last 4 days I was injecting cetrotide. 36 h prior to retrieval I did the trigger shot

My insurance covered 80% of the cost and paid 20%. I paid all meds out of pocket

Dr Khorram opts for Multiple embryo transfer due to better outcomes but ultimately leaves it up to the patient
