Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Goldfarb is caring and helpful. He genuinely cares to see each of his patients succeed in their goals. He devotes his life to his work and it shows...he cared and when we saw him with after a negative cycle, he seemed just as disappointed as us. he also let us be incharge of our treatment. he helped us decide which route to go and gave us the information to make a decision with him...So we cancelled IUI #4 and my husband and I decided to stop IUIs. at Dr Goldfarbs recommendation, we are doing every other cycle a medicated cycle (with 7.5mg letrozole) and natural cycles between.
One of the nurses [at University Hospitals Fertility Center], that I know of, is also battling infertility. She can relate to us patients on a personal level that some of the other nurses may not be able to....I love that the clinic doesn't have ultrasounds for pregnancy IN the office. They take you across the hall to the ultrasound lab...So we cancelled IUI #4 and my husband and I decided to stop IUIs. at Dr Goldfarbs recommendation, we are doing every other cycle a medicated cycle (with 7.5mg letrozole) and natural cycles between.
How was your experience with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Goldfarb is caring and helpful. He genuinely cares to see each of his patients succeed in their goals. He devotes his life to his work and it shows. One time I called to speak with him after a failed cycle and wanting to talk about which direction to go next and he had actually, FINALLY, taken time to spend with his family. He is an amazing doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
be honest with him. let him know if you are comfortable or not comfortable with something he suggests. Dr Goldfarb wants you to be in control of your treatment, so take control.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?

Describe the protocols James Goldfarb used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Our first IUI we used 5mg of letrozole and 250 Ovidrel. I had 2 nice big follicles. we went ahead and did IUI. It failed. Our second cycle, we kept the same protocol. Went in for my day 12 monitoring appointment and realized I had already ovulated. So the cycle was cancelled. The third attempt, we kept the same protocol but I came in on day 9 for monitoring. I had one follicle. We went ahead with our second IUI. It failed. Our fourth cycle, we kept the same exact protocol. I had one follicle on day 9, we triggered and went ahead with IUI #3 on day 11. It failed. Our fifth cycle, Dr Goldfarb discussed IVF with us. Not being able to afford it, we decided - with Dr Goldfarb - to continue with IUI until we can afford IVF. He suggested we up the letrozole to create more follicles. So I took 7.5mg and went in for my day 9 monitoring. Dr Goldfarb was out of the office and the doc on call decided to trigger the next day and IUI #4 36 hours after. I had ovulated on my own before trigger was due. So we cancelled IUI #4 and my husband and I decided to stop IUIs. at Dr Goldfarbs recommendation, we are doing every other cycle a medicated cycle (with 7.5mg letrozole) and natural cycles between.

I love that the clinic doesn't have ultrasounds for pregnancy IN the office. They take you across the hall to the ultrasound lab. I think their billing is a little off and their pricing is extreme, but I do love the staff so i can put all that aside.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
They were exuberant. I had lost my insurance and had to pay for bloodwork out of pocket for my monitoring. They have self pay packaging, but it doesn't include the LH and that alone was almost $300. So I opted not to have it done. And we missed my surge. However, Dr. Goldfarb was receptive of this and asked me to email him a statement of why I was opting not to have the LH drawn. He said he was taking my email along with others to the board to get it into package pricing.

I did not feel like we were pushed by Dr. Rossi to go in any direction, but I did trust her opinion and ended up taking her recommendation. We started the first cycle with a lupron protocol, but when my body ovulated through the lupron we cancelled the stimulation and egg retrieval and started over the next month with an antagonistic protocol. Dr. Rossi was very conservative with the stimulation and it ended up being a good thing since I did respond quickly and strongly and we ended up having to back off the stimulation toward the end. After egg retrieval I did end up overstimulating a little so we decided to freeze all the day 5 embryos and give my body the month off.
Dr. Rossi [at University Hospitals Fertility Center] was a wonderful and compassionate doctor. If I called and specifically requested to talk to her, she would return my call as soon as she could (though the nurses were usually able to give me the answers I needed)...All of the nurses were wonderful. They would get you in and out of the office quickly in the morning and called promptly in the afternoon after the results came in and a plan was made. They were able to answer my questions thoroughly or would get the answers I needed as quickly as possible.
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi was a wonderful and compassionate doctor. If I called and specifically requested to talk to her, she would return my call as soon as she could (though the nurses were usually able to give me the answers I needed). She explained the IVF process thoroughly and in a way we could understand it. We discussed our odds and risks and made a plan with her that suited our situation and desired outcome.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
You probably will not see Dr. Rossi at every visit. All of my morning monitoring visits were handled by the nursing staff and techs. If she was in the office she would pop in to say hello. The procedures will also be handled by the doctor on the schedule that day, but all are wonderful and well informed.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi and the nursing staff always remembered who I was and what our current status was despite the large number of patients. I always felt like my questions were valid and felt things were sufficiently explained throughout the process.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did start by doing a few more rounds of oral medication with IUI. This was mostly diagnostic, to monitor my cycles more closely than my OBGYN did and get an idea of what my body was/was not doing. The result of these was simply unexplained infertility. We did have one chemical pregnancy from these cycles. Dr. Rossi discussed with us that our options going forward were injectable stimulation with IUI or IVF. We discussed the potential risk of large numbers of multiples or cancelled cycles since I was a high responder to stimulation and opted to go directly to IVF to have more control over how many embryos were given a chance to implant. My first transfer the next month ended up being successful and resulted in a pregnancy that is currently in the third trimester.

Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The clinic runs like a well oiled machine in the morning during monitoring appointments. They get to blood and ultrasounds done quickly and you always meet with a nurse to make sure you are on the same page about the status of your current cycle. I was usually in and out of the office for those appointments in less than 30 minutes. Appointments are as early as 7:00 AM. The waiting area never had children in it for morning appointments and rarely if you had to come in later in the day. You will deal with RN's 90% of the time and you may to have "your" doctor on the day of your procedures since it's a practice.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
IVF was not covered by my insurance. The "package price" for egg retrieval, fertilization with or without ICSI and one transfer was about 9k. Medications were not included. Monitoring appointments were not covered by my insurance but were $200 per appointment.

He [Dr. Goldfarb] was honest with me about how low my chances were of getting pregnant with IVF with my own eggs and, though he said it was totally up to me and he would absolutely follow my wishes, he worried I would be throwing money away for really abysmal chances of having a baby...He also made himself 100% available, though I didn't realize it at first as his nurses don't make that clear. At one point I told a nurse who was resistant that I needed to talk to him and she needed to make that happen. Finally, she agreed to let him know. He contacted me immediately.
[University Hospitals] Feels a bit like an assembly line...Never once saw a pregnant woman in any place at the building and that was emotionally a huge relief. Wish the nurses didn't change with every single appointment until we started the IVF process. Once we started IVF we got consistency and they actually knew something about us... it ended up being $23,000 with donor fee, agency fee for donor, and medications for me and for donor.
How was your experience with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
As I said earlier, he was honest with me about likely outcomes but willing to do whatever I chose. I feel so fortunate that he told me the truth about my chances with IVF using my own eggs so we could decide ourselves whether it made sense financially. We did a round of IVF drugs with abysmal results and, ultimately, chose to go with a donor. I have friends who went in significant debt only to end up with no child through IVF. it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to hear and he couldn't have handled it better. There was never a bit of pressure to choose a donor egg cycle over trying another cycle with my own eggs. If I'd wanted to proceed with my own eggs, he was willing as long as I understood the probability that we would not end up pregnant. He also made himself 100% available, though I didn't realize it at first as his nurses don't make that clear. At one point I told a nurse who was resistant that I needed to talk to him and she needed to make that happen. Finally, she agreed to let him know. He contacted me immediately. He told me that I could contact him anytime, including by email him. I have incredible respect for him and an unspeakable. I am most grateful for him helping me have this amazing, beautiful child who couldn't be more mine, but also relieved that he handled the message so well that we moved on to using a donor egg rather than emptying our savings trying to use my own eggs in IVF.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Ask for amh and fsh to be tested immediately if you are 36 or above. Tell them you don't want to wait until it's time for IVF because clomid and IUI didn't work. Also, insist with the nurses that you speak to him. In fact, during your first appointment ask how you can reach him if the nurses won't let you talk directly to him about your concerns. Don't get me wrong, the nurses are wonderful in many ways. Also, Dr. Rossi is also wonderful. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to see her instead. They are both wonderful. I give them both credit for this amazing three year old sleeping on my lap.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
He had incredible bedside manner. He was honest with me about how low my chances were of getting pregnant with IVF with my own eggs and, though he said it was totally up to me and he would absolutely follow my wishes, he worried I would be throwing money away for really abysmal chances of having a baby. This was so difficult to hear, but I now have the most wonderful, beautiful baby who was undoubtedly meant to be my child through donor eggs and I am so grateful he was honest and we didn't spend our savings plus with own egg ivf to end up doing a donor egg ivf. I also saw Brooke Rossi who performed my surgery and she was just as wonderful.
Describe the protocols James Goldfarb used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Don't remember but he was very detailed and willing to give us as much time as we needed to talk through things.
Describe your experience with your nurse at University Hospitals Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Peggy)
There were a number of amazing nurses there. I felt like the donor coordinator nurse could have been a little more organized and a little more on top of our cycle. At the same time, things worked better than I could have ever imagined because I have the most amazing daughter thanks everyone at the office.
Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
Feels a bit like an assembly line, but I've gathered that is how fertility clinics generally feel. Never once saw a pregnant woman in any place at the building and that was emotionally a huge relief. Wish the nurses didn't change with every single appointment until we started the IVF process. Once we started IVF we got consistency and they actually knew something about us.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
I believe the ivf cycle was around $13K. I don't remember the total but I think it ended up being $23,000 with donor fee, agency fee for donor, and medications for me and for donor. I think the medications were around $2500, I just can't remember if our total was $23,000 with or without the medications.

I started with clomid, first dose at 50 mgs, unmonitored. I suffered from a short LP, so cycle unsuccessful. Cycles 2 and 3 were with Clomid 100mg, and progesterone from 3 dpo. Also unsuccessful...I am 36, my father is terminally ill and I need to be aggressive and get this done. He is slow to understand the urgency...lacks aggressive plans when age is primary concern coupled with ovarian reserve issues. I felt as if I needed to prompt more aggressive treatment. On several occasions I followed up with concerns regarding irregular bleeding and early recruitment. It took 3 cycles to get him to understand that this was an issue.
Nursing staff [at University Hospitals Fertility Center] became argumentative on several occasions. Treated like a number and some of them had attitudes when I had questions...The nurses offer conflicting information...I feel like you get the run around and they resent patients who have done their homework...It may take a while to get anywhere in this office...I started with clomid, first dose at 50 mgs, unmonitored. He [Dr. Goldfarb] was very thorough with me and gave me honest opinions rather than the opinions that would benefit him receiving more money.... I didn’t physically see him much but we spoke on the phone quite often. He always took his time to answer all my questions and was always very thorough. There were times I’d be on the phone with him discussing all my options and superstitions for 45 minutes. He was ALWAYS patient with me.
Bedside manner could be improved. They [University Hospitals Fertility] are all however very efficient and quick getting you in and out. I rarely had to wait long at all. Appointment times were set for early in the morning and I would typically be in and out in 20 minutes or less for all my monitoring appointments.... The woman who drew my blood in Westlake was terrible and clueless. One nurse was short with me and seemed annoyed when I asked any questions.

He had me do 6 rounds of clomid before I moved on to IUI. He never tried to push me to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with. Once I was ready, we moved on to IUI. I did 6 total rounds of that. First, 3 rounds of clomid and the last 3 rounds were with follistim.

The IUI procedure was $420 (including sperm wash). The ultrasounds and bloodwork I don’t remember how much they were and the medicine carried from $15 to $325 a month.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Doctor Goldfarb has called me personally one several occasions. He congratulated me on pregnancy, consoled during miscarriages and called me with testing results. Additionally he has consulted with us twice in person and encourages us to contact him with any concerns on his line.... We have done an IVF cycle with egg retrieval and frozen embryo transfer. He also has done saline ultrasounds to be sure my uterus is clear and ok for implantation. He has discussed change in treatment for me following a second miscarriage.
The clinic [University Hospitals- Beachwood] is well run and efficient. We felt guided in our fertility journey here. The staff is knowledable and follows up with any and all questions we have had.... The nursing staff is prompt, available, kind and knowledgeable. We love the nurses and meet with the same nurse as long as she is in.... The IVF cost was about 12000 with additional cost of medication. If we do not have a baby at the end of this we may qualify for a grant for a second cycle for free.
How was your experience with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?

Dr weinermen started me out on 100mg of clomid for our first iui which I thought was a lot considering I ovulate on my own already she didn't seem concerned about the dose So I took the clomid as persecuted. The clomid made my ovary swell and I ended up in the hospital because she started me at too high of a dose which I told her nurse I was concerned with. Her office wanted me to take 50mg the second iui and I told them I'm only taking 25mg so I did the 25mg Wich I'm glad because our iui was cancelled anyway.
The clinic [University Hospitals Fertility Center-Beachwood] always calls back and is very organized, clean and updated. They did have the issues with the freezers which is scary but other then that it's been good. They usually can always get me in and our normally on time... Carol did our first iui and was very nice. She explained everything and always called me back when I had questions
How was your experience with Rachel Weinerman at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Although Dr weinermen took lots of time with us and was very nice she percribed me with too high of a dose of clomid which I even called twice to verify. The clomid made my ovary swell to three times the size and landed me in the hospital. Dr weinermen didn't call me back or seem concerned
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rachel Weinerman at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
She's very nice and smart but make sure your question everything you think you should and write everything down

Dr. Goldfarb did not rush us through our appointment and answered every question. When I had my chemicals he called me personally to talk about tests we should have done to see if we were missing anything and then gave educated us on continuing iui or pursuing ivf. ... I did clomid and letrozole together for 3 cycles alone then when I had iui I used them plus a trigger shot. We monitored hormones and follicles.
I don’t have complaints about the clinic [University Hospitals Fertility Center]. They are friendly and through with their plans. The clinic is available and take time out of their day to meet as a group and discuss the plans set forth for their patients. ... The nursing staff cares about you and makes sure they answer anything you forget to ask the doctor. They make calls for insurance, best pharmacy, etc ... He [Dr. Goldfarb] prefers single embryo transfer if your under 30. Is willing to look into multiple.

Dr Weinerman is very compassionate and understanding. She is eager to try new treatments and different ideas. However she and her staff are also very eager to use ivf as a treatment and tend to be pushy about it even if the patient is not in a position to use it.... Use an open mind. She is very compassionate and willing to help. She tends to a dress one matter at a time instead of treating the whole thing at once this tends to take time.
The clinic [University Hospitals Fertility Center-Beachwood] itself tends to be pushy toward using ivf instead of other means to me this is their weakness. Their streingths are being compassionate and easy to contact. They tend to respond quickly when callingbaboutba test result or returning a phone call.... However the iui's and some medication werw not cover and for that their staff had a person to discuss the cost of treatment and set up a payment plan. They also provided a discount for some procedures that were put of pocket if they were paid in full at the time of services provided.

As with any fertility treatment the cost can be overwhelming. Luckily for most things insurance was able to be used. However the iui's and some medication werw not cover and for that their staff had a person to discuss the cost of treatment and set up a payment plan. They also provided a discount for some procedures that were put of pocket if they were paid in full at the time of services provided.

He [Dr. James Goldfarb] is a genuine man that speaks to your level. His level of knowledge and experience is beyond measure. Available at any time to speak, from initial consultation up until pregnancy available when I needed him...he sat down and made a plan and let us know he had confidence that we would get pregnant and he would do whatever it took. Gave us the facts of our situation. Had empathy.
Embryology department [at University Hospitals Fertility Center] needs to do better at letting patient know and explaining quality of eggs...Very open window [monitoring appointments], made it easy for me since we live 2 hours away... [nurse] Demonstrated compassion, always called back same day, very well educated, if she didn't know the answer Dr. Goldfarb would call me with it.

Diagnosed with unexplained infertility he recommended iui with clomid for 3 rounds and if that didn't work move to ivf. He did offer iui with injectable meds but he opted out because we were not okay with selective reduction. For egg retrieval I stimulated well but two eggs were always larger than the others so for 2 cycles we did not retrieve due to the cost and only getting 3 eggs. Finally the 3rd time we did retrieval and got 12. We transferred 2 3 day fresh due to higher chance of conceiving.

Dr. Rossi is very personable, while also completely telling it “like it is.”...I felt as though I did not receive proper testing/diagnosis. My first round of IVF should have been canceled. We went through with it at the last second, and I was not mentally prepared for what was happening...My protocol started very basic / low dose. Because I was not responding, I was practically maxed out on stims. It was more of a “one size fits all” approach- and it did NOT work...allowed us to transfer our last 2 frozen blasts because the quality was so poor.
They have made minor mistakes. Overall, the staff at UH is incredible...[Monitoring is a] Cattle call! The waiting room would be filled with patients. First come, first served...My IVF rounds are UH we’re $9,500 a piece...The clinic is far too large. I would make appointments at 6:40 for monitoring and not be seen until 7:30. It caused a tremendous amount of stress, as I was constantly late for work. They also have a lot of red tape. My new clinic wants to try Human Growth Hormone, and UH will absolutely not incorporate it into a protocol.

I felt like she was family...everything with the clinic was great until a week ago when I found out that my embryos were lost in a freezer malfunction. I only saw Dr. Rossi for IUIs and did not have success with either. During the IUI procedures I did not see Dr. Rossi. Dr. Rossi did remove polyps from my uterus and she was very kind during that time... The doctors are kind but you don't interact with them at all if you are doing less invasive procedures (clomid, IUI). ... I was prescribed progesterone for my IUI but no one ever informed me of when to stop taking it or when to follow up after my IUI was performed.

I only saw Dr. Rossi for IUIs and did not have success with either. During the IUI procedures I did not see Dr. Rossi. Dr. Rossi did remove polyps from my uterus and she was very kind during that time.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Ask as many questions as possible when you get the chance to see and talk to her.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
2 IUIs due to unexplained infertility at a relatively young age. Neither IUI resulted in a pregnancy.
Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The doctors are kind but you don't interact with them at all if you are doing less invasive procedures (clomid, IUI). The facility is very nice and the nursing staff is fairly decent. It is easy to get a hold of someone at the front desk and scheduling appointments is hassle free.

Dr. Goldfarb [at University Hospitals Fertility Center] is a pioneer in this and going into our cycles I fully trusted his opinions and he always explained the steps of action to me. Although, he is a busy doctor, he was always available for even a 5 minute chat if need be. Our appt. very frequent, sometimes as many as 3 times a week, and I felt that even if I saw him once that week, he knew the status of the cycle and if there were any concerns.

[Dr. James Goldfarb] is a wonderful physician. He is patient, kind, understanding and compassionate....I was advised to go directly to IVF because of my situation. I had had multiple abdominal surgeries that left me unable to conceive naturally. He adjusted my protocol as needed.
The office [at University Hospitals Fertility Center] was well staffed. Onet hing that was hard was that on any given day I might see a different physician. I did get to know the other doctors and felt comfortable with them as well...About $15-20,000 per fresh cycle,$10,000 for frozen. Some was covered by insurance.

Dr. Goldfarb took over an hour to meet with both my husband and myself at the start of our infertility journey. He suggested I do the routine bloodworm and get an HSG to make sure my tubes and levels were ok.... We did 3 cycles with clomid and intercourse, 3 cycles using clomid with IUI and three cycles using injectables with IUI. We moved on to another clinic to do the IVF cycles.
Some of the strengths that I appreciated about the clinic [U of Hospitals Fertility Ctr] is that they accept outside monitoring. It is sometimes very hard to get ultrasounds and blood work when you are sending it to a clinic in another state. They always sent the data and never treated me any different. However, if you need lab/ultrasound on a weekend they don't allow it.... The nurses were all very kind and understanding. The blood technician was always on time and very prompt.
How was your experience with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
I only went to Goldfarb for IUI's. I started on clomid with intercourse (3 times), then I moved to climid with IUI (3 times), and then I moved onto injectables with IUI (2-3 times). Overall, Goldfarb answered any questions I had and actually called me on a Saturday to discuss Dailed IVF cycles with other clinics and offered his advice and suggestions even though he knew I was not at his clinic anymore. I also used their clinic for outside monitoring and they were always very nice.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Goldfarb is a very nice and compassionate person. I went to him before hearing about the news of the broken lab equipment and understand that the clinic is going through many different changes to update their systems. I just don't know if I would trust the lab yet due to what happened.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Goldfarb at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Goldfarb took over an hour to meet with both my husband and myself at the start of our infertility journey. He suggested I do the routine bloodworm and get an HSG to make sure my tubes and levels were ok. The nursing staff was always prompt with my results and ordered my medications without any issues. There were times that I had to wait over 45 minutes for ultrasound

The nurses were all very kind and understanding. The blood technician was always on time and very prompt. However, there are only one or two ultrasound technicians so sometimes I would have to wait 30-60 minutes to get into her. Overall, the nursing staff did everything they were supposed to do.

However, if you need lab/ultrasound on a weekend they don't allow it. Although I begged them one time and they let me in. :) The embryo lab would be the weakness since the equipment failure. However, I believe Goldfarb is doing everything in his power to improve the systems.

Dr. Flyckt was very professional, sympathetic and explained things in a manner which we fully understood. She was also very optimistic in her office’s ability to help us conceive. I wish we would’ve seen [her[ more than our initial consultation appointment...I wasn’t prepared for the battery of testing and more testing and more testing before treatment got underway. Expect to spend a few cycles just getting through various tests.
Each nurse [at University Hospital Fertility Center] I interacted with at the office was extremely professional and compassionate...This clinic takes a team effort approach to care. You will not always see the same Dr. or same nurse, but each time you visit they are completely up to speed on your chart and course of treatment. How was your experience with Rebecca Flyckt at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Flyckt was very professional, sympathetic and explained things in a manner which we fully understood. She was also very optimistic in her office’s ability to help us conceive. I wish we would’ve seen Dr. Flyckt more than our initial consultation appointment. It would’ve been nice to see her face to face rather than a virtual visit during one of the many visits we had to the office for testing or procedures.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rebecca Flyckt at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Be patient, do your homework, advocate for yourself. Be transparent with what your expectations are and ask a lot of questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rebecca Flyckt at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
We only had one interaction with Dr. Flyckt, the initial consultation. The remaining care was performed by other staff at UH Fertility Center
Describe the protocols Rebecca Flyckt used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I wasn’t prepared for the battery of testing and more testing and more testing before treatment got underway. Expect to spend a few cycles just getting through various tests. While thorough, I felt like some time might have been wasted on escalating testing to the next level because of borderline results in the previous tests. I wish we could’ve tried the fertility drugs while we were testing to move the process along.
Describe your experience with your nurse at University Hospitals Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: I dealt with Ashley, Diane, and Jenn at the Westlake Office and Jessica at the Beachwood Office)
Each nurse I interacted with at the office was extremely professional and compassionate. I felt like they were my right hand man and with me each step of the way. I did ask about immunology testing after my 2nd failed IVF cycle and all she [Dr. Weinerman] said was that they don’t do that. No recommendations on where to get it done or explanation as to why she wouldn’t think I needed it. That kind of upset me because I really want to cover all bases before transferring my last embryo. Also during treatment, when I wasn’t responding well to the stims I feel like she waited until the last minute to increase my dose and we only ended up with 3 eggs retrieved both times.
Diane and Carol were both excellent. They always called back before the end of the day, usually within a couple of hours. Test results were reviewed before leaving the office [Univ Hospitals Fertility Center] or called to me that afternoon. They were always willing to help me with taking care of FMLA paperwork for my job. ... They get you in and out for monitoring appointments first thing in the morning which is nice.
How was your experience with Rachel Weinerman at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
I have only had contact with Dr. Wienerman twice in person and once over the phone during 6 months of treatment. This seems to be normal though for the clinic. When I did have contact with her she was easy to talk to and laid everything out pretty straightforward. I did ask about immunology testing after my 2nd failed IVF cycle and all she said was that they don’t do that.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rachel Weinerman at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Advocate for yourself because they seem to follow a standard protocol.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rachel Weinerman at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Most of the time everyone was very friendly and I had no complaints. On one occasion, I was there for a procedure and Dr. Wienerman made it very obvious that she was in a hurry in between cases and got frustrated with staff. It seemed unprofessional and made me nervous that she’d rush through my procedure.
Describe the protocols Rachel Weinerman used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
IVF CYCLE #1: started with BC pills to manipulate my cycle. Began microdose Lupron once my cycle began and continued that until trigger. Stims were Gonal-f 150 twice per day and Menopur 75 once daily. I used HCG trigger. Only had 3 eggs retrieved. 3 fertilied with ICSI. 1 embryo transferred on day 3. The other 2 arrested shortly after day 3. Result- BFN. IVF CYCLE #2: Began clomid on CD5-9. On CD 7 I added Gonal-f 150. A few days before retrieval I used Ganirelix once per day. Triggered with HCG. 3 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilized with ICSI. Transferred 2 on day 3 and froze 1 day 5 embryo. Result: BFN

Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
It is nice that they have an office on the west side of Cleveland. Driving an hour to Beachwood isn’t terrible but the westlake location is wonderful. They get you in and out for monitoring appointments first thing in the morning which is nice.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Rachel Weinerman at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
I had phenomenal insurance so I paid $0 out of pocket for both my IVF cycles besides meds. My meds were less than $1000 with insurance for both cycles. Out of pocket cost for self-pay would be approx $10,000 for a full fresh cycle(not including meds) and $2500 for a FET.
Describe Rachel Weinerman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
I had no issues when I requested to transfer 2 embryos during my second cycle.
