This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr. Robinson is very evidenced based, which I prefer so he may not agree or recommend some of the "fertility treatments (homeopathic)" that are said or could possibly improve fertility. But, if you have questions, ask. He will never make you feel stupid for asking. Or if there is something you want to try with your protocol, ask. He is always open to talking through things.
The [UT Medicine Fertility Center] clinic is one of the least expensive, if not THE least expensive in my area but with the type of care and coordination you receive from the providers and staff, you wouldn't know it. I have always received quality care from the UT Health and am happy to continue my journey with them. They have become an extension of my family over the last 8 months and I feel so fortunate to have found such a caring and compassionate team.
How was your experience with Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Robinson is not only smart and genuine, he is also very caring and compassionate. He is able to deliver good and bad news in ways that make you understand. Although the clinic has a busy case load, Dr. Robinson ensures he spends as much time with his patients as needed. I did not always see him for monitoring appointments but all of the providers at UT are amazing. I knew that Dr. Robinson was always behind the scenes making any necessary changes to protocols. He ensured he was the one that would do my egg retrieval and my embryo transfer. In my opinion, those are two very special moments during the process.
Dr. Robinson takes time to get to know his patients so he is able to best provide a good treatment plan. Options are provided and he explains potential risks and benefits, answers questions but ultimately left decisions up to me. He would always give his professional opinion but would never push any procedures or extras that weren't absolutely needed for my specific case.
He always thoroughly explained next steps and I never felt lost or had any misunderstandings with my protocols. I would 110% recommend Dr. Robinson to anyone looking for a warm provider with amazing bedside manner, who is not only very smart but also very patient as well.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Robinson and his nursing staff have some of the best bedside manner I have ever encountered with any provider. I work in healthcare and provide an high level of service to my patients and when I see a provider, I expect the same. Dr. Robinson and his team do just that. They go above and beyond to ensure that the patient (and partner) understand all recommended treatments as well as other possible options. Dr. Robinson always involved myself and my husband in our care and spent time with us answering questions. We never felt rushed and always left appointments feeling confident in next steps and the reasoning why we were doing something.
Dr. Robinson's staff of nurses are simply incredible. They provide a genuine, kind, and encouraging environment. They are there through the good, the bad, and the ugly. They celebrate with you and the mourn with you. All questions or concerns that may arise after appointments or in between appointments are answered quickly and with detail. They never made me feel like I was a bother or asking too many questions and, in fact, encouraged me to continue to ask questions, even if I thought that they didn't really matter.
Before my first retrieval, I was tested for COVID as part of the standard protocol. This was the day before my scheduled ER. Unfortunately, my test came back positive although I was completely asymptomatic. Obviously my retrieval was cancelled but Dr. Robinson went out of his way that same night and made a personal phone call to me. He offered to restart the cycle, without charging me (outside of the cost of medication, which he had no control over) once my isolation was over and my COVID had cleared. I went on to have a very successful retrieval a couple months later.
Dr. Robinson understands how important, stressful, emotional, and expensive infertility can be. He understands that we are people and not simply funding for the clinic. The clinic is one of the least expensive, if not THE least expensive in my area but with the type of care and coordination you receive from the providers and staff, you wouldn't know it. I have always received quality care from the UT Health and am happy to continue my journey with them. Describe the protocols Randal Robinson used in your cycles at UT Medicine Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I used a generic pharmacy out of Houston to save on cost. I was given options of overseas, name brand, or the generic.
I had a good AMH (5.3) for my age (39) so he prescribed microdose HCG and FSH. I stimmed for about 5 days before adding Ganirelex. I triggered on day 8 and had my retrieval on day 10. He was able to retrieve 16 eggs, 12 fertilized normally, and we were able to get 6, day 5 blastocysts and one, day 6 blastocyst. (4 good, 3 fair)
Describe your experience with your nurse at UT Medicine Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Yalanda)
There are no words to describe how thankful I am for all the staff. They answer questions on the portal, on average within a couple of hours. They have NEVER made me feel bad for asking so many questions and actually encourage it. They understand that this whole process is emotionally, financially, and physically exhausting. They truly care for their patients and genuinely want a positive outcome for their patients. They are always so understanding and caring and always know what to say. I have always felt so comfortable with them and love that they celebrate my wins and mourn my losses. They have become and extension of my family and I always look forward to seeing them.
Describe your experience with UT Medicine Fertility Center.
Before I was a patient, I had a very difficult time getting in touch with someone to answer my questions. This turned me off at first but I was encouraged to set up a consultation by people who received treatment at UT. I am so glad I did. After I became a patient of Dr. Robinson, communication was NEVER an issue. Making appointments and getting in touch with the staff was always very easy.
I will say that there was one fee that I was charged unexpectedly. I take blame for part of that because my insurance isn't the easiest to understand. I received a bill for a second HCG from Quest. Had I know I would be charged, I would have gotten the blood draw from my PCP.
Other fees that I did have to pay, I was notified about several days prior to the appointment so there were no surprises. They don't hide the cost of their services, so just ask.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
The IVF bundle was $6,000. This included all monitoring, retrieval, and one transfer. I think the price has gone up to $6250 since 1/1/22. ICSI, freezing, and storage were all additional costs. ICSI is required for PG testing. Biopsy fees were $2000 to the clinic and additional cost to Cooper Genomics. After successful transfer, viability scans are $284 for self pay.
Describe Randal Robinson's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
This was something that was discussed with Dr. Robinson at my initial consultation. We weren't sure if we wanted to test our embryos so we agreed that if we did not, we would transfer two non-tested embryos. Because we opted to not test, we transferred two. I asked Dr. Robinson to choose the two that we transferred and he and the embryologist choose the two to transfer. We opted for 2 due to my age.

Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
After my retrieval, I received a day 1 and day 3 call at around 11:30 am both times. I was told I would be called on day 5, which was a Saturday. (The clinic is open on Saturday) By noon, I had not received a call but assumed it was because they were probably on a skeleton crew and would call me a little later. By 3pm, no call. So I sent a portal message. I did not receive a call or message on day 5 but on day 6 my nurse did message me through the portal and apologized. They received the embryologist report late and that's why I wasn't notified. I would have preferred to have been told I would be called day 5 OR 6 so I wasn't so anxious waiting for that call but I did appreciate the message on a Sunday.
Dr. Ibrahim explained everything in a way that we could understand. She was very patient and calm about everything. There was a time when I thought my follicles weren’t growing, she was very calm when she explained that they were growing and we had to do a couple of extra days. She has a sweet spirit that makes you feel comfortable and I never felt rushed...very open and honest about what we should and shouldn’t do when it came to PGT, transferring multiple embryos, and using ICSI. We were given the option to do it but were told because of our age and there were no sperm issues, we didn’t really need the extras...
The nursing staff at this facility [UT Medicine Fertility Center] were GREAT! I didn’t see my nurse as much as I saw my doctor but it didn’t matter because all of the nurses were caring, compassionate, and they knew my name...They were efficient, nice, organized, and had EXCELLENT communication. I have no complaints whatsoever. I was always called and kept informed about my doctors next plans. The nurses were great at drawing blood and calling back with a plan later...
How was your experience with Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Ibrahim is very sweet and extremely supportive and knowledgeable. She took her time to explain everything and made sure that we had no questions. We never felt as if we were left in the dark about anything and we always knew what to expect. I truly wish every doctor was like her.

Describe the protocols Yetunde Ibrahim used in your cycles at UT Medicine Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We started with birth control pills in order to silence my follicles and prevent a dominant follicle from growing. I had and ultrasound to make sure everything was good and then I started stims. I was originally supposed to stim for 9 days on a low dose of both of my medications. I injected 1 medication in the morning and the other at night. After 6 days we added a 3rd medication to prevent ovulation. I ended up stimming for 15 days instead of 9 in order to get my follicles to the correct size (I believe the extra days also helped with maturity because all of my follicles were mature).I had my retrieval and 17 follicles were retrieved and all were mature. For the transfer portion of treatment, I was started on estradiol 6mg then began progesterone in oil injections 5 days before my first frozen embryo transfer. From my understanding, both medications are used to support a pregnancy.

My doctor was very open and honest about what we should and shouldn’t do when it came to PGT, transferring multiple embryos, and using ICSI. We were given the option to do it but were told because of our age and there were no sperm issues, we didn’t really need the extras. I really appreciated the honesty because IVF is expensive enough and we paid for everything upfront and out of pocket. I loved that we weren’t pressured into things that we didn’t need for the clinic to make extra money.
She [Dr. Yetunde Ibrahim] was very caring, knowledgeable, and thoroughly explained potential issues and our test results. She was sensitive to our emotional state, answered our never ending questions, and helped us make logical treatment choices. She shared resources to help us cope such as a referral to a reproductive psychologist and was supportive in our decision to wait 6 months before starting treatment. I’m excited to begin IVF under Dr. Ibrahim’s care next month!
Their [UT Medicine Fertility Center] strength is being a small clinic and being able to offer personalized care. Most importantly, treatment plans are also relatively affordable. I love that they have a waiting area separate from the OBGYN clinic. Test results and communication with the clinic is very easy using the MyChart app.

I am very proud to have been a patient of Dr. Ibrahim’s. She is very knowledgeable and hardworking. She is very dedicated and committed to her work and patients. She stays informed and updated with the latest developments in her line of work. She always had students with her learning. I appreciated her teaching and mentoring the next set of doctors. She speaks in a very comforting manner even when there are setbacks. She set great expectations throughout the process that are realistic possibilities. She responds and follow up very thoroughly. Describe the protocols Yetunde Ibrahim used in your cycles at UT Medicine Fertility Center and their degree of success.
The overall strategy was ensure my eggs were healthy and retrieve them. Get my eggs tested and use the most healthy ones to implant in my uterus. At the same time take a regime of medication to prepare my body for pregnancy. Monitor each week by taking bloodwork and sonograms. Keeping me informed of all my labs and any procedures that I may need to rule out any thing that could be causing complications. Finally transfer my embryos and follow up with bloodwork to confirm pregnancy or not.

How competent was UT Medicine Fertility Center at LGBTQ+ care?
Everyone was welcoming.
Describe your experience using 3rd party reproduction (donor eggs, donor sperm, or gestational carrier) at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
The clinic handled the communication was I gave authorization. It was a smooth process
I liked that he was understanding of our past treatments when we lived in another state and he was also conscious of our financial situation when it came to testing before starting treatment...I only saw Dr. Robinson on my last visit to the fertility center since they rotate through the doctors there but he was my assigned doctor...I had already had a lot of anxiety so his calmness helped me to stay calm
I paid per visit/ultrasound [ at UT Medicine Fertility Center] since my body takes longer to react to the medications...The clinic is clean. You have to pay for parking and sometimes it is hard to find a spot so plan for that before you come...I think this clinic is good for saving money if you need more intensive treatment...I also left a few appointments with a lot of questions and ended up having to call and ask for clarification
How was your experience with Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Robinson first met with me over zoom. He was willing to do the treatment that worked for our first child (we were trying for number 2). I liked that he was understanding of our past treatments when we lived in another state and he was also conscious of our financial situation when it came to testing before starting treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
I think this clinic is good for saving money if you need more intensive treatment. Since we only need timed intercourse with a trigger shot, they don’t have one price for the treatment and we had to ou per visit/ultrasound which ended up being more expensive than when we did it at another center. If you need IVF then this clinic will help you save money.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
I only saw Dr. Robinson on my last visit to the fertility center since they rotate through the doctors there but he was my assigned doctor. I had heavy bleeding and thought I had miscarried. Dr. Robinson asked for information about the bleeding but didn’t waste any time by checking on the ultrasound to see if my fears were confirmed. I had already had a lot of anxiety so his calmness helped me to stay calm and I was shocked to see the baby on the ultrasound.
Describe the protocols Randal Robinson used in your cycles at UT Medicine Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I started with a double dosage of letrozole and when my follicle was still too small. I took a triple dosage the next week. The ultrasound showed growth but it still wasn’t ready for the trigger shot. I had to wait a few days and then take the trigger shot. We were told to try the next couple days and then wait two weeks and do a home pregnancy test. I did and it was positive. I hadn’t been given any more information so I figured I would wait and then schedule my first OB appointment. But the OB wouldn’t schedule me until I had my pregnancy confirmed at the fertility clinic. I did a blood test and then an ultrasound a few weeks later to confirm the pregnancy.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
When I started having bleeding at 7 weeks pregnant I messaged the clinic since I was on vacation and got a response from a nurse. There was no sympathy and they just told me to go to an ER which I was unable to do since I was out of state and my insurance wouldn’t cover it. I did get a message later from a different nurse that expressed sympathy for my situation. I also left a few appointments with a lot of questions and ended up having to call and ask for clarification. I was able to fill in the blanks sometimes because I had already gone through treatment before but they did some things differently that weren’t explained and I had to call to figure out my treatment plan.
Describe your experience with UT Medicine Fertility Center.
The clinic is clean. You have to pay for parking and sometimes it is hard to find a spot so plan for that before you come. You pay before each visit (if you are doing timed intercourse) and you pay at the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
I paid per visit/ultrasound and since my body takes longer to react to the medications, I needed more than the “average” timed intercourse patient. It was somewhere around $365 per ultrasound. The initial consultation was around $500. And I paid for all the medications at the pharmacy. I can’t remember the cost of the letrozole but the trigger shot was around $200. I paid around $50 for the blood pregnancy test, as well.
What specific things went wrong at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
Describe the specific things that went wrong at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
I was told my positive treatment cycle for my first child would be reproduced at this clinic, which was double dosage of letrozole, estrogen to thicken lining, trigger shot, progesterone suppositories. I started the cycle with the assumption that the treatment would be the same. I took multiple dosages of the letrozole but when I was told my lining was a little thin, I was not given the estrogen suppositories. Then after the trigger shot, I didn’t taken progesterone suppositories and didn’t find out about these changes until I called to ask and was only told “we don’t do that here.”
After doing IVF seven years straight [Dr. Schenken] was the only doctor that were able to finally enable me to become pregnant. He listen to all my concerns he was willing to do above and beyond to make this happen for me and my family. He made the process easy and he was easy to understand the process...He did the natural FET. What is basically you have to ovulate regularly. And once you ovulate he will monitor you to do your frozen embryo transfer...I can’t express my joy and happiness of him being my doctor...pregnant now at 32 weeks
The strength of the clinic [at UT Medicine Fertility Center] that is a very small clinic that give you individual care. The weakness because it is a small clinic you have a waiting period to be seen. And they do not have a lot of bells and whistle’s but they have the Ivf down to a science that which makes it worth going there. Even though it’s a learning hospital it is worth going in a very well-kept secret here in San Antonio

Luckily we were covered by Tricare for all our labs in doctors appointment and just had to pay out of pocket for the frozen embryo transfer
Describe Robert Schenken's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
It’s really up to the doctor what he feels is best for your condition and your situation if you should do more than one embryo transfer.
He [Dr. Randal Robinson] was thorough. We had multiple questions and never felt like we were asking stupid questions. He was engaged in the conversation...He told me that I could be eligible for medication reduction costs if I wanted to talk to a company that works with cancer patients. I applied through the LiveStrong program, and was accepted, but still needed to come up with close to $9k.
The only thing I would change about this Clinic [UT Medicine Fertility Center] would be, that they would allow multiple payment plan options. Coming up with a big lump sum of money is difficult. Especially if the patient has other medical problems...She [nurse] walked me through the process, she helped prepare me for the examination. She helped eased my nerves. I am in a wheelchair and she helped get me on the table.
How was your experience with Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
I have Desmoid Tumors and my OBGYN oncologist suggested that I speak with Dr. Robinson about preserving embryos. My Hematologist agreed. So we went for a consultation. We asked many questions and if the cost wasn't a factor, we would have promptly started the egg retrieval process. Unfortunately, the cost was more than we thought without a payment plan option. Due to medical bills our credit cards were high and we couldn't afford to begin. He told me that I could be eligible for medication reduction costs if I wanted to talk to a company that works with cancer patients. I applied through the LiveStrong program, and was accepted, but still needed to come up with close to $9k. It was still too much. So, we told LiveStrong we had to work on getting our credit card debt down and they never shipped out the medication. We spoke to Dr. Robinson about everything and he was genuinely sad for the situation, but told me to reach out when we were ready to continue.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Ask as many questions as you can think of. Don't feel like any are stupid. Dr. Robinson will take the time to clearly respond. He is gentle and cares!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
He was thorough. We had multiple questions and never felt like we were asking stupid questions. He was engaged in the conversation. Very nice doctor!
Describe the protocols Randal Robinson used in your cycles at UT Medicine Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We were going to remove eggs and freeze embryos with the intention of using a family member as a surrogate.
We didn't get to start the process yet, but when we do, this is still the plan.
Describe your experience with your nurse at UT Medicine Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: I forgot her name. )
She walked me through the process, she helped prepare me for the examination. She helped eased my nerves. I am in a wheelchair and she helped get me on the table. Very sweet lady.
Describe your experience with UT Medicine Fertility Center.
The only thing I would change about this Clinic would be, that they would allow multiple payment plan options. Coming up with a big lump sum of money is difficult. Especially if the patient has other medical problems. For me I have to see an oncologist, hepatologist for my liver, and the OBGYN regularly for my multiple issues. This is the recent carrying a pregnancy is not safe for me. But all of the doctors agree that doing the egg removal and embryo freezing would be okay for me.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Randal Robinson at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
I qualifying with a program through Livestrong to get my medication. Unfortunately the cost was still too high and we could not pursue until we were able to pay off some of our credit card debt. At this point we are still working towards that goal. I believe that we have to owe $9,000.
Describe Randal Robinson's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
We aren't interested in multiple embryo transfer. We only want a single birth.
Dr. Knudtson is very compassionate yet realistic...She gives me the facts, tells me how she can help, and compromises with me if I want to make changes such as trying for a mini ivf cycle (monitoring clomid usage and measuring follicles at cd12) because she knows I am afraid of aggressive treatments. She's sweet and never makes me feel rushed during our appointments no matter how many questions I have. I feel safe with her and I trust her...
Amazing clinic [UT Medicine Fertility Center], I get scheduled relatively quickly and get responses to email quickly. Like any fertility clinic, there is usually a wait but not too long. They have always been great at communicating with me and calling me about results, appointments, etc...[nurses are] very compassionate, organized, and kind. They have always been so loving and sympathetic to me and what I'm going through...
How was your experience with Jennifer Knudtson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Knudtson is very compassionate yet realistic. She has been gentle throughout my prognosis and very clear about what she believed will help me. Still, I was very hesitant in the beginning regarding surgery to open/assess my tubal blockage so she just supported me in the meantime. She has done her best to meet me where I am and never tried to push me to do anything I didn't feel comfortable doing. She gives me the facts, tells me how she can help, and compromises with me if I want to make changes such as trying for a mini ivf cycle (monitoring clomid usage and measuring follicles at cd12) because she knows I am afraid of aggressive treatments. She's sweet and never makes me feel rushed during our appointments no matter how many questions I have. I feel safe with her and I trust her. She performed a salpingectomy which I recovered from beautifully. She's an amazing RE
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jennifer Knudtson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Ask about all your options, not just the obvious ones. If possible, always ask if you can get orders for labs prior to your appointment with her so you have a baseline or results to work with. Be clear about what your goals are before visiting her because if all you want is someone to tell you what to do but aren't ready to do it, what's the point?
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jennifer Knudtson at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Knudtson is very soft spoken, sympathetic, and sincere in her gestures. She hears me, wants to help me, and shows great concern for my emotions

First step was to get my labs done. I was aggressive and asked for all of them! She complied and also conducted an ultrasound during our consult. Initially, she wanted to get me started on clomid right away and perform an HSG but I wasn't ready for that just yet. I decided after my labs came back looking good that I would try natural remedies and acupuncture to help me. After several months I agreed to an HSG which revealed both my tubes were blocked with one potential hydro tube. She recommended lap surgery to assess tubes and potentially remove the right. I was hesitant again and decided on natural remedies. After 8months i did a repeat HSG which revealed no change in my tubes. She performed a lap surgery on me where she had to remove my right hydro tube but was able to open my left tube with just the dye. She gave me 6 months to try on my own after that. I took a break from TTC and went back 9 months after my surgery. We repeated some labs, she put me on clomid, and just today we did a repeat HSG which revealed my tube is now blocked. So, we are moving on to ivf, starting with a mini ivf cycle with a possibility of removing my left tube if we are unsuccessful.

He [Dr. Randal Robinson] is kind and makes me feel like he is actually listening to what I have to say. If I am venting he lets me finish and we talk through the process. He makes sure by the end of the appointment I understand the next course of action and he has never made me feel rushed... Excision surgery was done laparoscoply to remove stage 4 endometriosis covering both tubes some colon and uterus. Place on birth control for a few months after surgery to get ovulation back on track. After no pregnancy went back and tried iui but he informed me he was hopeful it would work do to my tubes being slightly damaged from the endometriosis. Place me on 5 mg femura starting day 3 of my period. Took for 5 days and started testing opk on day ten and as soon as I had a positive I contacted the office to schedule iui next day.
[at UT Medicine Fertility Center] Communication is super, the wait time is very minimal, I actually had to catch a flight on the day of my iui and they pushed me to the front in order to accommodate a timely arrival at the airport. The only problem I have is the front desk receptionist seems angry all of the time, she does her job and is informed but hardly ever smiles.. It’s a teaching facility so he usually has different fellows each visit.

Fisrt appointment informed me of suspected endometriosis and throughly explain this condition. Proceed to do vaginal ultrasound and confirmed PCOS, scheduled an HSG a few weeks later. Pretty conservative. I had no hormone issues so I did natural cycles IVFs. I start my PIO injections (1ml IM) a week before the transfer along with low dose estrace to thicken the lining. He also does not transfer more than 1 embryo at a time in anyone under 35 years of age to prevent a high risk pregnancy as well as long term health complications multiples can have. I take the estrace daily along with the PIO then go for my blood HCG on day 10 (my embryos are 5 days old) then 3 days later another blood HCG. Then I stop the estrace and continue the PIO injections daily until 8-10 weeks. Then he switches me to progesterone suppositories.

Dr. Robinson always greets me in a very welcoming way, he always seems to remember who I am even when I see him in passing so I am not "just another patient"...He is very informative and does not hesitate to make me understand everything that my body is doing. He will answer all my questions that I ask with great information to follow...I would take clomid then a trigger shot to help timing with IUI. Or just clomid and trigger for a timed intercourse cycle.
They [nurses at UT Medicine Fertility Center] help answer questions and that is great in a very confusing time I appreciate it...The only negative is sometimes calling a big clinic it is difficult to get in touch with billing or insurance staff but that is to be expected. She [Dr. Knudtson] gave the greatest bedside manner and thoroughly explained each procedure. She has really great bedside manner and shows me the amount of follicles each cycle. She gave very basic level explanation in a time when this process is overwhelming. She is also very polite and easy to ask plenty of questions....She first started with explaining my PCOS and my husbands numbers. We started off with a low level dosage since cost was a factor. As wash cycle did not work she made adjustments but fully explained the reasoning behind each change.

Dr. K [Knudtson] has a very warm bedside manner, and took her time to get to know my husband and I, as well as, our goals....I feel that Dr. K was very thorough and even helped to write out a plan for my diagnosis and treatment which I found helpful in case I forgot something from our meeting. [Dr. Randal Robinson was] Very understanding and willing to adjust our plans according to our needs. Compassionate man. I always felt very comfortable at our appointments. With him being former military and my husband being Active duty military, he understood our need to be persistent in the short amount of time we’d be under his care...Dr Robinson was VERY thorough with everything, unlike the 8 other doctors I saw previously.
The staff [at UT Medicine Fertility Center] was amazing. Went above and beyond...The women who work with Dr Robinson while I was under his care are some of the best nurses I’ve had the opportunity of meeting. They were caring and kind. Everything you could ever want...The only downside is that the clinic is right across the hall from an OBGYN clinic in the building. Overall it’s an amazing facility that completely caters to the needs of their patients. I wish they had more lists of pharmacies to get the medications needed.

[Dr. Knudtson] explained everything in a way that was easy to understand...made me feel like every single question or concern I had were the most important...she recommend everything she thought was the best option for me, but at the end of the day she allowed me to make my own decision...Even if she’s not in the office during your visit, she calls you that day to review your visit...She prefers to do single embryo transfers
The nurses [at UT Medicine Fertility Center] are competent and caring...The waiting room is small. The front desk lady is so sweet and nice. The procedure rooms might need some more space since most of the time there’s more than two doctors in there at a time and it feels a little crowded

How was your experience with Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Dr. Ibrahim treated my husband and I for recurrent pregnancy loss and chronic endometritis. As her patient, I felt informed, heard, and supported. Throughout our journey together, Dr. Ibrahim was at once professional but personable, frank but sensitive to our thoughts and feelings. I felt confident that Dr. Ibrahim had created a thoughtful, informed plan for our care, and that my husband and I were stakeholders in its creation/execution. I felt assurance that every step brought us closer to our goal of a successful pregnancy, and as though that goal was something obtainable. Any communication I had with Dr. Ibrahim was thoughtful and timely, even after hours. During an isolated interaction I had with one of Dr. Ibrahim’s fellows, that individual was dismissive, insensitive, and accusatory. Not only did I feel comfortable enough to address this incident with Dr. Ibrahim, she also expressed genuine concern when I did so. Dr. Ibrahim was apologetic without offering excuses, and made me feel both heard and validated. Though this could have been a wholly negative experience, it demonstrated Dr. Ibrahim’s commitment to the highest standards of sensitive, accountable, quality patient care and strengthen my confidence in her as a professional. My husband and I felt truly supported by Dr. Ibrahim, from start to finish of our journey together. Even now that we have “graduated” from her direct care, I know that we have her support should we need it on the road ahead.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Ask all your questions, share your concerns, and know you are in good hands.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
At the start of every visit, Dr. Ibrahim greeted my husband and I with our names and asked how we were both feeling in a way that conveyed genuine concern for the answers. She patiently explained (and re-explained, when needed) procedures and rationale to us, and answered my husband’s many questions. I never felt hurried or as though my husband and I were taking too much of her time. The information she provided was frank but delivered with empathy and care. Dr. Ibrahim’s area of specialty is fertility, and she has likely treated innumerable couples who have experienced recurrent pregnancy loss, as my husband and I have. There were many times when Dr. Ibrahim could have been dismissive or insensitive, could have treated us as just another couple trying to have a baby, but this was never the case. Dr. Ibrahim treated my husband and I with dignity and respect throughout our journey together. I am forever grateful for the care we were provided.
Describe the protocols Yetunde Ibrahim used in your cycles at UT Medicine Fertility Center and their degree of success.
-My referring OBGYN requested lab work before and after my second pregnancy loss (cardiolipin, lupus anticoagulant, B2 glycoprotein, antibody screening, HIV/RPR/HepB NR, GC/CT). All were normal. Karyotype from my most recent loss was 46XX, though maternal contamination could not be ruled out.
-Dr. Ibrahim had my prolactin levels checked and my husband and I completed chromosome analysis: results were normal, with normal female and partner karyotypes.
-Saline infusion sonogram was performed to rule out any abnormalities of my uterus: a uterine fibroid was found (not concerning), as well as a possible benign polyp. I was scheduled for uterine hysteroscopy and removal of the polyp.
-Polyp removal and hysteroscopy were scheduled. No polyp found, but hysteroscopy revealed chronic endometritis, for which I was treated with a course of levofloxacin and flagyl.
-Following completion of antibiotics, dilation and curettage with hysteroscopy were scheduled: revealed chronic endometritis with scar tissue. Dr. Ibrahim prescribed another 21-day course of levofloxacin and flagyl.
-Once I completed the course of antibiotics and we could be reasonably certain my uterine infection had cleared, we quickly transitioned to the next stage of treatment: getting pregnant. We discussed options and made a plan.
-I was prescribed Clomid. Subsequent ultrasound revealed multiple mature follicles. I was prescribed Ovidrel.
-My husband and I completed Zymot testing and IUI. I started on luteal progesterone following IUI. IUI was successful.
-Once pregnancy was confirmed, I went in for an ultrasound every 2 weeks. I continued luteal progesterone through 10 or 11 weeks gestation.
-I completed NIP testing: results were low risk for fetal chromosomal abnormalities.
-I went in for ultrasounds every 2 weeks until 12 weeks gestation (the point at which I’d lost my longest pregnancy) to monitor as part of the TLC protocol.
-I returned to the care of my OBGYN.
-I have made it to my 3rd trimester.
Describe your experience with your nurse at UT Medicine Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Lisa Orozco)
Nursing staff was positive, professional, and compassionate during all patient interactions. Vitals and patient history were taken efficiently. Nursing staff seemed to work in harmony with the doctor when both were in the room.
Describe your experience with UT Medicine Fertility Center.
Strengths: generally short wait times between appointment start time and being taken back to a room. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments has been easy. Facilities are clean and everything is in working order. Staff have all be courteous and professional. It has been easy to speak to someone after hours.
Weaknesses: My only complaint is with MyChart. I have updated my prescriptions multiple times during e-check-in, but my after visit summary continued to list many things I was no longer taking (even medications that were 1-time doses, e.g., Ovidrel) as part of my Medication List (implying I should continue taking them). I finally brought it up with a nurse and she helped me pare the list down to what I was actively taking. I think this list of so many medications could be confusing for some patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
I had insurance through my employer and had already met my yearly deductible by the time I began treatment with Dr. Ibrahim. I paid a copay for visits. Zymot sorting and IUI were not covered by my insurance, or perhaps only partially covered. I believe I paid approximately $500. I also paid for Ovidrel, which was (I think) around $150, and luteal progesterone from a specialty pharmacy, which was about $75. As I recall, my insurance covered all other costs associated with my care. I would recommend patients check with their insurance companies and the UT billing department to determine what will be covered/not covered by insurance. I called my insurance company to get a list before my husband and I got started with the process.
Describe Yetunde Ibrahim's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
None; it was not necessary to utilize either approach in my case.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
During an isolated interaction I had with one of Dr. Ibrahim’s fellows, whom I politely approached about a medication the fellow had mis-prescribed to me, that individual was dismissive, insensitive, and accusatory.
We are FOREVER grateful for Dr. Ibrahim! She truly made us feel seen, heard and understood. We had previously come from a different fertility clinic from out of state and had already had multiple surgeries to correct my Asherman’s diagnosis...she got right to work and immediately came up with a plan knowing time was against us. We always felt supported by her and we always felt like she had our best interest at heart. We will FOREVER be grateful for helping us achieve a successful pregnancy!
I always felt like they [UT Medicine Fertility Center] made appointments work (coming from an out of state fertility clinic who would sometimes make you wait months -which would push back cycle starts), this was a HUGE plus for us! The staff and receptionist are so nice...The nurses were great! There was one mix up with medication...but it was corrected within a few days and did not prove to be detrimental. I think having multiple nurses responding to myChart messages can get confusing, but they were always timely.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
It’s ok to ask questions, she’s an incredible resource, and she will never make you feel dumb or that your question is insignificant. I never felt rushed with her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center?
Her patience with both my husband and I. She never rushed us and always answered our questions. She was kind, understanding and sympathetic (especially when we were given bad news). She even called while on vacation when all of our embryos came back genetically abnormal on our first retrieval round and spent that phone call ensuring we could try again with a new plan and more options (she was open to any and all need/wants we wanted to explore or do). She listened and we felt heard.

The nurses were great! Describe the costs associated with your care under Yetunde Ibrahim at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
Total costs approx $24,000 (two egg retrievals, 1 implantation, genetic testing, ICSI, sperm sorting, freezing the remaining embryos).
Describe Yetunde Ibrahim's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
Given my age and situation (the Asherman’s) she was very clear that she would only transfer 1 embryo. Since she was able to give a thorough explanation of her reasoning, we felt comfortable with the decision to only transfer one.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at UT Medicine Fertility Center.
There was confusion on how much estrace I was to take. In myChart is was told to take 3mg once a day and during an in person appointment a few days later we clarified that it was supposed be 3mg AM and PM.
