Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Nasseri is an incredibly intelligent and talented doctor...was willing to answer to my concerns...isn't "warm and fuzzy"...always felt a sense of humanity and caring energy...only had to do 1 retrieval and 1 embryo transfer...had a total fertilization failure and consented to day 1 rescue ICSI, which yielded 18 fertilized embryos -> 4 blasts -> 3 euploid
Strengths [of Valley Hospital Fertility Center]: smaller clinic so more personalized feel, wait time is minimal, nurses and doctor's know you by name/recognize you, front desk and billing team staff is kind, the facility is modern and clean, procedures done in the main hospital...Weaknesses: Can sometimes feel rushed during AM monitoring appointments
How was your experience with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Dr. Nasseri is an incredibly intelligent and talented doctor. He clearly knows what he is doing and has a plan, while at the same time was willing to answer to my concerns about said plan. I had both expected and unexpected issues occur throughout the IVF process, and I trusted Dr. Nasseri in his approach throughout the course of treatment. Dr. Nasseri isn't "warm and fuzzy" but I always felt a sense of humanity and caring energy from him. He would call me with important results and I really appreciated that, too.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Bring your questions and ask them- he tends to keep things straight to the point and not over explain things, BUT he is willing to answer questions and seems truly interested in explaining/sharing knowledge.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
I was always greeted with a warm smile and by my name. Important information was not forgotten about.
Describe the protocols Ali Nasseri used in your cycles at Valley Hospital Fertility Center and their degree of success.
My partner and I came to Dr. Nasseri ready to start IVF after 5 failed cycles of letrozole/clomid + IUI . I am lucky to say I only had to do 1 retrieval and 1 embryo transfer. Started on birth control pill for 10 days, then for retrieval since my AFC was on the higher side I had a low dose (150 units) of folistim and 75 units of menopur for 13 days, then lupron and hcg trigger shot. Initially the plan was conventional IVF (no ICSI) because there was no male factor infertility detected however we had a total fertilization failure and consented to day 1 rescue ICSI, which yielded 18 fertilized embryos -> 4 blasts -> 3 euploid. This is much better than I ever expected given the need for rescue ICSI so I was satisfied. We did an embryo transfer as soon as we could- I did a natural transfer with progesterone suppositories. Success and graduated at 8 weeks pregnant.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
The nursing staff are compassionate and kind. They are thorough and very responsive using the patient portal.
Describe your experience with Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Strengths: smaller clinic so more personalized feel, wait time is minimal, nurses and doctor's know you by name/recognize you, front desk and billing team staff is kind, the facility is modern and clean, procedures (egg retrieval, embryo transfer) done in the main hospital which was comforting Weaknesses: Can sometimes feel rushed during AM monitoring appointments but there's typically not much to say during these appointments in my experience.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Very efficient, wouldn't wait for more than 5 minutes typically, sometimes. a bit longer on weekends. It did feel rushed at times but that did not really bother me because I just wanted to get in and out, too. The appointments start at 7 AM and so it did not disrupt my work schedule. It was easy to request a time that worked best for me.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
My insurance covered a portion of the cost, I spent about $15,000 out of pocket (1 egg retrieval, ICSI, PGT testing, medications, 1 embryo transfer, monitoring).
Describe Ali Nasseri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Dr. Nasseri's plan was eSET and I agreed as I have no interest in multiple embryo transfer and it didn't make sense for my case.
What specific things went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
The head nurse who doesn't typically deal with patients directly gave me conflicting information about when I was going to start stimming for IVF but it was resolved by another nurse the following day who called me and talked me through the plan.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
I came to Dr. Nasseri with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and for trying for over a year at age 39. After a very comprehensive diagnostic work up, we discovered that I had uterine adhesions which required an operative hysteroscopy, to rule out that the adhesions were the cause of my miscarriages.... Dr. Nasseri is very intelligent and presents information in a very clear cut manner; in the beginning he came across as cold. However, as I have continued to see him, he has warned up and become more “human"
The nursing staff at Valley Fertility Center are excellent. If you call with a question or concern, they get back to immediately and always within the same business day. They are compassionate and though they deal with a lot of patients, they remember me and call me by my name at each visit.... The clinic has, thus far, been really easy to work with regarding scheduling. I’ve had to change an appointment or two for work and it was never issue. The clinic has monitoring hours every morning and it is a very quick in and out visit. My advice to new patients is to get there early; it is a first come first serve basis.
How was your experience with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Dr. Nasseri is everything I would look for in a Reproductive Endocrinologist. He is thorough and has a good bedside manner. He is also very creative when it comes to finances and helping us to identify a treatment that will fit within the bounds of our budget. While we have done one surgery with him and are just in the midst of our first cycle with him, I feel comfortable saying that we will be with him until the end of our fertility journey, wherever that may take us.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Be sure to have a list a questions; while Dr. Nasseri is very attentive, I had to clarify several things in the beginning of this process. It was helpful to have that list in front of me.

Dr. Nasseri is very intelligent and presents information in a very clear cut manner; in the beginning he came across as cold. However, as I have continued to see him, he has warned up and become more “human”. He performed an operative hysteroscopy on me and made me feel very at ease prior to the procedure.

After a very comprehensive diagnostic work up, we discovered that I had uterine adhesions which required an operative hysteroscopy, to rule out that the adhesions were the cause of my miscarriages. Dr. Nasseri has made the recommendation that we go straight to IVF with PGS testing to identify the highest quality embroyos but for financial reasons we are not able to move forward with that treatment at the moment. Instead we are doing a medicated cycle with IUI.

Some things were covered by my insurance. Some not. I have not tallied up the money we have spent there yet as we are just beginning out treatment.
Describe Ali Nasseri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I have not gotten to that stage of the process but it is my understanding that Dr. Nasseri and his staff prefer single embryo transfer.

I only ever heard from him [Dr. Dehan Chen] on the phone with bad news. He would immediately want to make the next plan. He never checked in with me in any form of communication to see how my mental heath was after miscarriage or unsuccessful embryo transfers...I had to do my own research about a good number and then demand more bloodwork. I had a miscarriage before that. He is not an endocrinologist. That was my mistake.
[Valley Hospital Fertility Center] Weaknesses- no communication with doctor unless it goes through the patient portal with a nurse first, runs like a number, no specific team coordinator, no attention to mental health, no advising of supplements, patient needs to do own research and ask those questions, go to your own endocrinologist before here to be sure your medication (if needed) is correct and managed by that professional provider
How was your experience with Dehan Chen at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
I never got any real information about my initial test results. He always wanted to rush into a new plan immediately after something first failed. Communication with him was impossible…like playing phone with tin cans. I would have to ask a nurse to contact him. He would only call, never message. Often, if he was returning a call, it would be during the time that I was teaching and unavailable. I was put on too low of a dosage of meds for hypothyroidism, which he diagnosed me with. I had to do my own research about a good number and then demand more bloodwork. I had a miscarriage before that. He is not an endocrinologist. That was my mistake.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Dehan Chen at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Tell him exactly what you need to know and how.

Antagonist cycles for ivf and clomid for iui

I was blessed to have incredible insurance, but genetic testing of embryos and freezing costs were not covered.
Describe Dehan Chen's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
He did not entertain a multiple embryo transfer. It never came up. I had only two good embryos though.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism at my initial work up. I was put on a prescription and the dosage was only adjusted once after an additional lab result. Then, i had no further lab work on my thyroid levels (t3 maybe). After i had a miscarriage, i looked into the levels i should have. I had to demand that my lab work be done before we started ivf. I had also been to see my own endocrinologist who tested me and said my levels were still incorrect. Only then did i get a blood test. I was also never clearly told that my diagnosis was unexplained infertility. I had to ask that question directly.

He's [Dr. Chen is] kind and considerate, but seemed like he was just going through the motions. He did not make solid recommedations for a treatment plan, instead asked us what we thought and what we wanted to do. We would have preferred a firm recommedation considering he is the medical professional. I felt like I had to ask a lot of questions and/or ask for clarification, versus Dr. Chen giving a good explanation up front. His answers were always short without much elaboration...
The nurses [at Valley Hospital Fertility Center] seem to be going through the motions and forget that you are going through this for the first time and make assumptions that you know what they are talking about or have a better understanding of procedures than you may have. Dr. Chen seemed like a fine doctor when we first met him during our consultation. He's kind and considerate, but seemed like he was just going through the motions. We would have preferred a firm recommedation considering he is the medical professional. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Dehan Chen at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Ask questions and be firm about what your goals are and what you want to get out of treament. Get firm recommedations.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Dehan Chen at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
This is a relatively small practice with only 3 doctors and I felt like the staff make you feel like it's the first time they are seeing you every visit.
Describe the protocols Dehan Chen used in your cycles at Valley Hospital Fertility Center and their degree of success.
300IU Follistim w/ 150 Menopur for 3 nights, Follistim then reducted to 150IU the next visit, then 75IU, then I was taken off of it. Dr. Chen believed I had too high of a dose of Follistim which affected my retrieved egg quality. During monitoring the nurses had led me to believe that I was responding well to the medication, but turns out it was most likely too high of a dose.

They also told me to call the pharmacy to have the prescription transferred. Overall lack of attention to detail.
Describe your experience with Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Egg retrievals are done at an outpatient building, separate from the main clinic and lab location, so there is transporation to and from the lab. Day of retrieval they had my husband produce his sample at home and transport it to the outpatient center, vs. providing it fresh.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Because of Covid, they scheduled your monitoring appointments for a specific time. This made the visits very efficient since they were able to control the amount of people at one time. It was definetly a cattle call when it was your turn.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Dehan Chen at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Diagnostics: around $2800, Egg Retrieval Cycle: $1500, PGT testing: $3000 (not covered by insurance). It must be noted that this clinic DOES not process claims for treatment cycles if you insurances states no fertility coverage. After repeatedly asking billing to submit claims (and being made to feel like we were fools for asking) for our IVF cycle, it turned out we had significant plan discount with our insurance and in turn are due back significant credit. You must insist they submit claims for all procedures. A true advocate for patients would do this without being asked.
What specific things went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I repeately had to ask them to send my prescription to my pharmacy of choice - they kept sending them to their default one. When I made them aware of this mistake, they told me to call the (wrong) pharmacy to have the prescription transferred. I requested my records so I could have a consultation with another clinic, when 2 weeks went by and still no records were sent, they said they had no record of my request.

In the beginning of this process, I did feel like we were a number but most recently, Dr. Nasseri came up with an alternative treatment for us because we cannot currently afford IVF. I felt like he really worked with us as a couple and provided us with the best option that we can move forward with right away.... due to my wife's recurrent pregnancy loss, I had to have a full blood workup, genetic testing, karyotyping and semen analysis. At the end of the day, everything was "clear" on my end so aside from recurrent pregnancy loss, we are stuck in the grey area of "unexplained infertility"
I have dealt with the nursing staff [Valley Hospital Fertility Center] the most. Every nurse is so nice and warm. Always making jokes and keeping you at ease. I would definitely recommend them as a team.... I'm not sure if this is a weakness specific to our clinic, but I feel like the diagnostic process took a long time. And unfortunately we still have no solid "answer". I have never had an issue getting an appointment with the clinic so that is a definite strength.
How was your experience with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
While I have not had to go through all of the procedures that my wife has had, I have had to undergo some testing and I felt like everyone was explained to me in a pretty clear manner. For my experience, I had to deal with the nursing staff much more closely than Dr. Nasseri.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
For me, it would have been helpful to get a more detailed rundown of all of our fertility options in the beginning - everything from Clomid, to IUI, to IVF. I would have asked more questions upfront.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
In general, I feel like most fertility clinics are just trying to recruit as many patients as possible. In the beginning of this process, I did feel like we were a number but most recently, Dr. Nasseri came up with an alternative treatment for us because we cannot currently afford IVF. I felt like he really worked with us as a couple and provided us with the best option that we can move forward with right away.
Describe the protocols Ali Nasseri used in your cycles at Valley Hospital Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Personally, due to my wife's recurrent pregnancy loss, I had to have a full blood workup, genetic testing, karyotyping and semen analysis. At the end of the day, everything was "clear" on my end so aside from recurrent pregnancy loss, we are stuck in the grey area of "unexplained infertility". We are currently undergoing our first cycle with Clomid.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I'm unsure of the costs associated with our care. I do know that we currently cannot afford IVF at the moment. I believe that is estimated around $12000 before medication.
Describe Ali Nasseri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I'm not familiar with the doctor's approach to single vs. multiple transfers. We have not gotten this far in the process.

Dr Greenseid is very personable and compassionate...When she had a question regarding a diagnostic procedure, she suggested a colleague re-perform the examination to ensure that her findings were 100% accurate; it is not my experience that many people would admit that a colleague may be better able to diagnose or assess her/his patient. We hope to begin a second cycle shortly, and haven't even briefly considered another physician.
Every nurse we encountered [at Valley Hospital Fertility center] was friendly and helpful. All phone calls were returned in a timely fashion...We underwent a reciprocal ivf procedure. My wife and I began with birth control pills to synchronize our cycles. I believe my wife was on the antagonist protocol due to age (under 35). I received Lupron, extrace, and progesterone in oil to prepare my uterus for the transfer. 13 eggs were retrieved from my wife and fertilized with donor sperm, and two were transferred to me on day 5. Unfortunately the cycle was not successful and there were no embryos to freeze.
How was your experience with Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
While our cycle was not successful, and there have been MANY setbacks over the past year delaying a second cycle, I have always felt confident in and comfortable with Dr. Greenseid. When our first cycle failed - and each time a setback occurred - Dr. Greenseid communicated directly and personally with us. She has always shown care and compassion, and seems truly invested in our success. She answers questions thoroughly, and we never feel rushed. She seems humble and honest, which are extremely important characteristics in a physician, in my opinion. When she had a question regarding a diagnostic procedure, she suggested a colleague re-perform the examination to ensure that her findings were 100% accurate; it is not my experience that many people would admit that a colleague may be better able to diagnose or assess her/his patient. We hope to begin a second cycle shortly, and haven't even briefly considered another physician.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Ask questions. She will answer (honestly) any and all.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Dr Greenseid is very personable and compassionate. She calls directly (not nurses or receptionists) and discusses plans openly. She truly seems to care and be invested in our success.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.

Describe Keri Greenseid's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Dr Greenseid planned for a single embryo transfer (due to age, as I understand). However, the two embryos left on day 5 were not of good quality, so both were transferred.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
There is never any false hope. We've been through so much with Dr. Greenseid, more bad than good. But she has never once given up hope, which is part of what's kept us going back for more. Using Dr. Greenseid was one of the best decisions we've ever made. I think after all of our heartbreak along this journey, knowing that we're in such great hands, has kept us moving forward.
All of the nurses [at Valley Hospital] are fabulous. They treat everyone with kindness and know exactly what to say and how to say it. It takes a special kind of person to do this job (especially so early in the morning, every morning). The nurses at Valley always take the time to answer my questions. They call back quickly. They are all so extremely helpful. Dr. Greenseid ALWAYS takes the time to explain everything to us. She always makes time to talk to us when we are feeling nervous or overwhelmed with the process.
How was your experience with Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Dr. Greenseid is extremely knowledgeable and always willing to share everything she knows. She explains things clearly and throughly. Dr. Greenseid will not sugar coat anything for you. She wants you to know exactly what you are in for, good or bad, which is so amazing. There is never any false hope. We've been through so much with Dr. Greenseid, more bad than good. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
You will not find another doctor like her! If you want a smart, caring, kind doctor who will be your biggest cheerleader, then this is who you want to see.

Keri was very sensitive to my needs and requests. I felt very comfortable in her care (and the other doctors there, too). That comfort was something I didn't have at other fertility centers. She was encouraging, realistic, and enthusiastic. She cried when she told me that I was pregnant. She is devoted to this job...I had had enough of the shots and medicines and asked for a "natural" cycle. Dr. Greenseid was willing to try (not normal procedure at their offices) and miraculously it worked. Prior to that, we had done HSG and a uterine wall test. They were done to ensure there were no obstructions or cysts and to be sure that my uterine wall was thick enough etc.
The hours and location [at Valley Hospital Fertility Center] were very convenient. They were efficient and organized. Wait time in the mornings was generally quick. One doctor seemed to move a bit slower than the other two. Not many weaknesses as a clinic...Most of the staff were compassionate and gentle. One nurse always had what seemed to be a bad attitude in the exam rooms, but overall I was very happy with the staff.

Be aware that you won't always see her - but she does try to schedule transfers for a day she's working.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Keri was incredibly sensitive and empathetic. She called me personally with results good and bad. She cried on the phone when she told me I was pregnant.
Describe the protocols Keri Greenseid used in your cycles at Valley Hospital Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did a standard IVF cycle with a high yield of eggs. We froze the resulting embryos. Best embryos were transferred first. All fairly standard procedure. By the time we were down to our last frozen embryos I had had enough of the shots and medicines and asked for a "natural" cycle. Dr. Greenseid was willing to try (not normal procedure at their offices) and miraculously it worked. Prior to that, we had done HSG and a uterine wall test. They were done to ensure there were no obstructions or cysts and to be sure that my uterine wall was thick enough etc.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Typically the wait was quick. The phlebotomists were very gentle. One doctor seemed to move the line a bit more slowly (or he was late - not sure) so those days were a little bit frustrating. But the staff moved things along efficiently and quickly
Describe the costs associated with your care under Keri Greenseid at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
About $25,000 for the IVF cycle and multiple FET
What specific things went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
For my natural cycle I needed oral progesterone and it might have been a miscommunication on my part, but the day I needed to begin taking them I didn't have a prescription and it took a long time to hear back from the nurses to get the prescription. All worked out fine in the end. Fortunately most conventional pharmacies carried what I needed.

He [Dr. Nasseri] was very straightforward with what my options were and the likelihood of success...If you need someone who is extremely compassionate and heartwarming, I would not recommend Nasseri. He is in NO WAY cold, but he does tell you it straight...All of the nurses knew me by name, they knew about my history and treatment as did Dr. Nassiri - he didn't spend time looking at my chart during our consultations (he had already read it as he was educated on my chart)...
The nursing staff [at Valley Hospital Fertility Center - Ridgewood] was top notch, they were always compassionate, warm and invited any and all questions I had during my cycle...I was doing FET and there was barely any communication from egg retrieval day to the day they called me to advise how many were frozen and sent for PGS. Whether that is a product of the lab or the doctor but there was a significant drop off from what was collected to what was frozen and I wish I would have had a call to prepare me for this outcome. 12 were collected and only two made it to be frozen/tested...

Had my workup and went into the results expecting to hear them. Doctor [Dr. Ali Nasseri] asked if I decided on a donor without giving the results. Would not consider own eggs...was set on donor since I met him. He did not explain my workup results and was pushing donor. Would not try a cycle with my own eggs. I was seeing him for his analysis and he pushed it back on me.
[Dr. Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center] never explained initial workup. Just asked if I decided if I want to use a donor...Practice is very small-there are only 3 doctors. Doctor pushes donors. Doctor does not review results and does not offer suggestions. Doctor is very blunt and non-compassionate to older patients. Nurse is very kind and knowledgable on 3rd party reproduction. Offered me a ton of info.

Dr Chen was great, very attentive and great at explaining our options and diagnosis in a manner we understood. He was very compassionate and took the time to make sure we understood every blood test, procedure and diagnosis...My husbands semen analysis showed zero sperm, azospermia. Dr Chen did blood work, genetic testing to try to find the route cause before referring us to a urologist. I have a septated uterus and dr Chen did a saline sonogram and a HSG to try to determine the severity and if I would need surgery or not. He was very good at explaining everything along the way
