Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Durso is very pleasant and is always optimistic that we will get pregnant....Dr. Durso is straight forward and very good at breaking down what we need to look for and expect next. She also is open to any suggestions that we may request. Communicating with her is relatively easy and we always get to a solution...Make sure you take note of all symptoms you have monthly and be sure to know your family history. Also, don’t expect immediate results.
The clinic [VCU - Ctr for Adv Repro Med] is very clean, friendly, and not overly booked. The only complaint I’ve had with them is getting someone to return my phone call quickly and one of the receptionist can be rude and disinterested. I now prefer to use the email option...The nursing staff is great! They always respond to my emails, are super compassionate and communicate between my doctor and I very well!

Dr Lucidi is very up front and explains the next step as thorough as possible. He gives a timeline on how to proceed with your next step. I also like that he writes it down on paper for you to see. He explains everything so that you understand what will happen if treatment does not work.... First was to take infertility pills like Clomid. They did not work for me. I didn't ovulate. So the next step was hormone shots and IUI. That didn't work.
Trying to get a hold of them [VCU Medical Center] when you need something right away is kind of hard but other than that they are an excellent clinic. They are organized, friendly and everyone seems to communicate well there.... Nurse Christine is the best. She makes you feel like a human and not a number even knowing how busy they are.

I only met him [Dr. Lucidi] once. Most of the communication was with nurses who would speak with him and then call me back. I was very early in the process and just starting to seek treatment, so I'm not sure how it would have been had we started with him through our IUIs and IVFs....Question why he is assigning diagnoses and whether there could be other reasons for your situation....He was polite and friendly.
I felt that my diagnosis was done in an assembly line style and that it was incorrect. I didn't feel that care [at VCU - Ctr for Adv Repro Med] was individualized....The doctor [Dr. Lucidi] was very nice, though I only met him once and always spoke with the nurses after that. For me, that was an issue, though I was very early in treatment...We just did meds there and they were out of Pocket...We started with Femara and then went to 50 MGM clomid and then 100 Clomid.

[Dr. Lucidi] always answered all my questions, always fit me in for appointments even at the last minute, always kind and professional...My husband and I had a great experience. Even though our IUI's and first IVF yielded disappointing results, we were always happy with the course of treatment and the care we received...Dr. Lucidi doesn't look for zebras or do unnecessary tests - so don't get bogged down in the details of what everything means. Dr. Lucidi is good at looking at the big picture.
Courtney (who I primarily worked with) and Christine were the best. I still miss them and wish they could be a part of my prenatal care. They were always so kind, compassionate and willing to chat whenever I had a question. Dr. Lucidi is great but isn't super warm... you have to be firm in your expectations, be sure to call him out if you feel he isn't being aggressive enough....As an LGBT patient to date I feel like have been treated like I have lack of access to sperm instead of there being a problem. We know I have PCOS but every IUI cycle resulted in a strong response to treatment never resulting in a pregnancy....The nursing staff at Dr. Lucidi's office is probably the best I have ever encountered.

[Dr. Scott Lucidi] Started with a sperm analysis, checked ovaries and tubes, checked for ovulation. Tried letrozole and verified ovulation each team. Blood pregnancy test 2 weeks post ovulation and repeat tests every 2 days to see levels double...With 4 miscarriages- it was very emotionally difficult. I felt like Lucidi was on our team and crated about our losses. He even performed weekly ultrasounds for our daughter through 12 weeks to help put me at ease.

How was your experience with Scott Lucidi at VCU Medical Center?
I have recommended Lucidi several times. He was fantastic!! He was patient as I started and stopped treatment and always answered all my guilt driven questions. He was patient and really cared about my husband and I and my 5 pregnancies. Tears do seem to make him mildly uncomfortable.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Scott Lucidi at VCU Medical Center?

I haven’t been to the new clinic. The old clinic always had very pregnant women in the waiting room waiting for OB. That could be a little triggering. Waits were sometimes long. Blood work was always fast and excellent- 1 stick!
