This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr. Beltsos is very knowledgeable and smart and warm. She will take the time to sit with you during your initial consultation and also for an IVF Checklist appointment. I also saw her when she did my saline ultrasound. But those are the only 3 times I've seen her and I've been going to the clinic for about 8 months. This may be totally normal because most of the time I'm there is for baseline and ultrasounds. She did diagnose me with endometriosis and PCOS, both of which I had no idea I had.
I love all the nurses [at Vios Fertility Institute], but there's a lot of them and they change every time you're there. There is now a patient portal that they ask you to send messages through. The nurses respond on there, but sometimes multiple nurses will respond to the same question with different answers. This becomes confusing and frustrating when you're trying to find out who called in a medication order and who will be following up on the medications. You will almost always meet with a nurse after your bloodworm and ultrasound and these experiences can vary from very rushed with little explanation as to how you're doing, to very detailed. But they are all very very nice!

I'm very grateful for her knowledge, confidence and convenient locations and ability to know what will work best. She did tell me very early on that IVF would probably be my best bet and I now realize she was right. I took the fertility treatments very slowly and as naturally as possible at first.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angeline Beltsos at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Be sure to write questions down ahead of time so you get the most out of your appointments.

Describe the protocols Angeline Beltsos used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
I did 3 Clomid cycles with 1 IUI. I think I cancelled one because I was afraid and I chose to try naturally for the other. I'm now undergoing IVF and will have egg retrieval soon.

But they are all very very nice! This might seem silly also, but when they reply to messages on the portal, the grammar is very bad and it makes it look very unprofessional. I've been given instruction on medication changes with abbreviations and spelling errors and all lower case text. :/ This happens to be the norm unfortunately. Maybe a template should be used when replying to patients.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Strengths: cleanliness, location is great, parking is free and usually plentiful
Weaknesses: not all phlebotomists check your name and label with blood which I require, communication through the portal is very informal and when lab results are uploaded there is no reference range posted next to them. So you have no idea if the numbers are good, bad, etc. I've seen other fertility sites that explain everything - this practice does not explain where you should be or what your numbers mean. They'll just upload the results and either call or message you with next steps. It would be nice to know where I should be during a certain time in my cycle or treatment. Reference ranges and more educational materials on each step would be a huge help.

most was insured, except for the cryofreezing of embryos, which was approximately $1200 for initial freezing and $500 each year thereafter for storage.
Describe Angeline Beltsos's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
The only time this was discussed was during the IVF Checklist meeting which was with another doctor in her practice, Dr. Jeelani. She did say that they only transfer 1 embryo at a time. I appreciate that and didn't press further for why.

The system for ordering medications for IVF is very stressful and some nurses put a lot of the work on the patient in regards to contacting insurance, etc. Some nurses say they'll handle it. But you don't know which is doing what. As a first time IVF patient it was down to the day before my meds were to start when I finally had to make about 6 phone calls to get my meds ordered. It was very chaotic and poorly run. I think 1 nurse should be assigned the task for certain patients.
She [Dr. Roohi Jeelani] is knowledgeable and helped guide me through this process from the beginning. She was available when I needed to speak with her...When my follicles weren't growing fast enough she increased my Follistim dosage...
I had her personal phone number, which I did use for questions. She answered timely and willing to answer any question I had. Her bed side manners were great and I felt comfortable in her presence.
They [Vios Fertility Institute] have a portal that allows you to communicate with the office for questions and in return they can communicate with you for dosage information and action plans. The day of retrieval was easy and the operating staff i.e. anesthesiologist etc were the most welcoming group I have ever encountered...I couldn't stop smiling as I was laying down in the operating chair.

Communication is key. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Don't be afraid to push. No matter how great the clinic or doctor, you must advocate for yourself.

Due to the quick start, they were able to provide me with medication that had been donated to me until my insurance processed approvals. I was at the clinic at least weekly for blood work and ultrasound to monitor progress and for Dr. Beltsos to monitor how well my ovaries we're responding to the medication schedule. Due to the positive response my body had to the meds, I have mature eggs ready sooner than anticipated and Dr. Beltsos shifted my egg retrieval date from a week day to a Sunday morning.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Every nurse I have encountered at the clinic was very nice, professional, and compassionate. However, communication outside of the clinic (telephone or email) is somewhat challenging. But it seems they are working to correct this issue as they now have a coordinator.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Strengths of the clinic are that there are multiple locations in Illinois, Missouri and Wisconsin so if you are going to use a Gestational carrier your search can be broadened and stick with the same clinic you've built a relationship with. There are also multiple locations in the Chicago area which is sometimes a disadvantage because you're limited to making appointments with your particular doctor based on what office they are in on a given day, unless you want to chase your doctor around to the various locations.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Angeline Beltsos at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
My insurance covers IVF but the billing showed the costs to be about $12,000. However, they do offer a great discount for those going through this due to a cancer diagnosis if insurance will not cover it.
Describe Angeline Beltsos's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
We have not done an embryo transfer yet, but the doctor's position is that SET is typically best.

Dr. Beltsos is a darling! She was thoughtful, attentive, personalized my care, remembered my and my partner's names, called or texted me with important results/updates, and always made me feel like she was fully present with me when we spoke... Whenever there was "big news" to discuss, she discussed it with me personally. I never felt like a number, even though she has a LOT of patients in her clinic. About Fertility treatments in general: Use your employee FSA for deductibles and co-payments, since you'll easily use it up with frequent monitoring appointments and procedure deductibles. The clinic has amazing staff that can explain insurance coverage and billing, as well as offer insight into assistance programs.

Egg retrievals: Labs and U/S are done at baseline, and every 2-3 days. Methylprednisolone and doxycycline, follistimAQ (FSH), Menopur (FSH/LH) for stimulation, ganirelix for preventing ovulation, Lupron trigger for PCOS (like myself), Pregnyl/ HcG for folks not at high risk for hyperstimulation. I was advised against fresh transfer because I overstimulated each cycle.
40 eggs were retrieved and 33 preserved on my first retrieval; however, my second cycle which was planned for embryo preservation yielded much fewer follicles and poorer egg quality (16 retrieved, 12 were mature, 10 fertilized, 2 resulted in blastocysts). I was advised to add myo-inositol and CoQ10 for egg quality on my last cycle of COH. On the third (and hopefully last) retrieval for embryo preservation, 25 eggs were retrieved, 20 were mature, 16 fertilized, and we are still awaiting the final count for blastocysts.
Timed Intercourse: Clomid, then follistim and pregnyl trigger when I wasn't responsive to Clomid alone. U/S monitoring was used to confirm follicle maturation and ovulation.

I had some conflicting instructions during my first cycle due to confusion over my doing retrieval for egg preservation and ability to retain my IUD.
Genetic screening wasn't done earlier in process and became a concern in the middle of a retrieval for embryo preservation after I tested positive for CF.

[Dr. Beltsos] is very compassionate and her #1 goal is to get you pregnant. She will try anything and will also listen to your concerns and adjust accordingly. She will make you understand everything that is going to happen and why...Since I am 42, she recommended that my stims start high on the first 3 days then taper down. The rationale is to jump start my follicles...is very conservative in this aspect but we agreed to transfer 2.
The nursing staff [at Vios Fertility Institute-Chicago] is pretty good. I've had one to tell me stop my supplements during stims and one tell me to stay on them...Strengths are definitely the physicians and nurses. The weakness is the billing. It's very bad. They never answer the phone or call you back. However, when a $20 bill is due, they will hound you. I had to threaten to Cc: Beltsos in an email for someone to call me back.

She [Dr. Beltsos] was a great doc. With her, I got nearly twice as many eggs at retrieval compared to my prior doctor. Very informed. Very kind. Up to date. Not sure if a lot could be changed about our embryo outcome though ...She spoke to me and my husband intelligently. Very warm person...Androgen priming. Poor responders protocol. Growth hormone. 750 follistim for 3 days, then weaning of follistim and adding Menopur.
[Vios Fertility Institute] Parking. Convenient location. Clean. Friendly. Very efficient. Never had to wait long for an ultrasound or blood work. They were always able to get me in quickly. She [Dr. Angeline Beltsos] was always very kind, spoke to me by name, and took a lot of time with me during each appointment. She was very personal.... For the first cycle with her we did medicated iui with clomid, follistim injections and trigger shot. That failed. For the second cycle we just did clomid, trigger, and time intercourse. That failed as well. For the next cycle she switched me to femara, trigg t and TI because clomid seemed to be thinning my lining. That worked.

He [Dr. Scott Springer] understood wanting to move forward with IVF after only 2 IUI procedures. When our first transfer failed we had a month to prep for our second. The second transfer resulted in a low hcg level. Other than repeat beta draws, nothing was needed further. Our third and final transfer with our final 2 embryos resulted in the same thing. low hcg level but higher than last time. repeat bloodwork until an ultrasound that showed something but no way to tell if it was an empty sac or just fluid. I chose to stop medications which was totally fine. After that ultrasound I never had anything else done except to check that levels were down. To them it wasn't anything major
Wait times [at Center for Reproductive Health] were hardly an issue. I was always able to get in within reasonable hours to accommodate over an hour drive as well as my working hours.... For IUI's we did clomid and the pregnyl trigger shot. IVF was routine birth control, injections etc. My first transfer we used progesterone injections and suppositories. the last two transfers we used strictly suppositories.
How was your experience with Scott Springer (retired) at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
At my first visit with Dr. Springer I felt very confident he would be able to help us. I was previously told I was polycystic and that worried me and he assured me in our first visit by doing an ultrasound to check. absolutely not polycystic. He understood wanting to move forward with IVF after only 2 IUI procedures. When our first transfer failed we had a month to prep for our second. The second transfer resulted in a low hcg level. Be open minded to all possibilities. Be an advocate for yourself .
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Scott Springer (retired) at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
My experience was totally different than anyone I know of who's gone. When we used all embryos and needed to take a break there was just a "Call us when you're ready" never a check on how I was or explanation to why things happened the way they did. No further testing done beyond what was done prior to him. Only routine things were checked to make sure transfers were possible.

Dr. Springer strongly felt one embryo was always fine. After two failed transfers, he felt it was okay and appropriate to transfer our last two, in hopes that it would work.
Dr. Springer is an extremely personable and intelligent doctor. He is always willing to explain procedures and why he thinks they are worth performing. He has great bedside manner and really invested in me as a person. ... I went through several IUI’s and then was switched to IVF when my insurance was cancelled. Dr. Springer did an egg retrieval, but we were unsuccessful with two transfers. I will soon undergo an ERA and then will proceed with another egg retrieval.
The clinic [Center for Repro Health] is full of amazing staff members who treat you like a human and not simply a patient. They invest in your life and care for you. They answer questions and provide detailed plans. They work with your comfort zones and support you during your cycles. Everything is explained well and they welcome questions. ... I absolutely love the ultrasound tech Julie. She was such a support to me during my cycles.

Very caring and explained things very clearly. Could tell he cared about each patient and you weren’t just a number, but a human being. ... How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Dr. Jeelani comes highly recommended. I did my fair share of research prior to and I knew immediately I wanted her to help me. My initial (virtual) consultation started a bit later than scheduled, as she was consulting with another patient. and although it did start a bit later, I didn't feel rushed. I felt that she was attentive and present and listening to my journey alone. She assured me that I wasn't alone and instilled hope. She performed a hysteroscopy as well as my last transfer.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Trust the process. Know that you will be in good hands. Ask any and all the questions you have, because you will need that peace of mind. Know that she's cheering for you too!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Working Dr. Jeelani, I had/have always felt that she treated me like a human. Dr. Jeelani would personally respond to any and all my weird, repetitive, and abundant questions I had along the way. She's very personable and really understands the journey as she is going thru the process herself. She "gets" it. She has a gentle voice. She's very smart and I feel really takes into consideration YOUR situation and adjusts the accordingly. What I mean by that is, it's not a cookie cutter kinda thing. I trust her and her process.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
Initially, I thought the process would be retrieval and go time. But Dr. Jeelani explained that we should go through the retrieval process once more in order to obtain the best quality eggs to better reach the family size, we desired. So we went through 2.5 rounds of the retrieval process. Shots, labs, patches - the whole 9 yards. Seeing the results of the first run, adjustments we made to hopefully made the next ones even better. round 2 of the retrieval process, however, didn't produce the number of follicles we hoped for, and with a lot of back and forth and for the sake of my coverage (I knew I wouldn't have enough to cover another retrieval round if i went forward), so I had decided to cancel that round and start the cycle over again. The 3rd cycle was much more promising. Dr. Jeelani always gave you the option to choose if additional supplements would benefit the process, btu she also understood that there's always a price tag - so that was good because I didn't feel like I was obligated to do it, if it wasn't financially possible. She also, helped with coupons and the best sources to purchase from.Omnitrope was a REALLY expensive one used along the way, but somehow we managed to include that in my adjusted protocol. my thyroid medication was monitored and adjusted accordingly.

I love that the clinics were in different areas of Chicago. I work remotely, so it was a relief to be able to schedule my appointments based off where I was working or however it fit best into my schedule. Clinics are clean, there's always water, coffee, tea, juice and even snacks available as you wait. Bathrooms were always stocked with toilet paper, wipes and your sanitary needs.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Monitoring appointments we very well organized. Especially with having to social distant. We would arrive at our scheduled time, wait in our car for the cue to enter, they would record your temp and vitals and take you right into labs ro your ultrasound. Almost always it was you and the staff and occasionally walk passed one other patient in transition of rooms. but everything was super fast and easy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
At first I had continued coverage through Cobra from my last place of employment. That allowed me to start my fertility journey through IVF. My coverage was actually really great - I had no deductible and the majority of my medication was covered, except from omnitrope and any additional recommended supplements. BUT my monthly premiums were $725 - that was really hefty for me. I've recently, changed over to the marketplace plan due to exhausting my benefits with my previous insurance and it's a struggle. Paying a much lower premium of $431, I have a $6700 deductible, but from what I was informed, would be fulfilled after one round of meds as those can cost anywhere from $15 - 22K. I don't remember the exact numbers but the cost of the retrieval is the more costly part of the process. Embryo storage is about $750 annually after the first year and a Transfer cycle is about $5K, if i recall properly.
Describe Roohi Jeelani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Yes, it came highly recommended that we transfer one embryo at a time due to the health risks that would come with it. I'm nearing my forties and we didn't want to take the risks over the "faster chance" of growing our family instantaneously.
Such a caring doctor [Dr. Angeline Beltsos] who really wants to help. Great bedside manner and talks to you as a person not just another patient. She went above and beyond for me on an insurance matter that I had no joy in sorting out. She made it happen for me and we even made a short video to thank the insurance company.
The front desk girls [at Vios] would always try to get me an appointment at a time that suited me and I really appreciated this. Billing is an issue and i repeatedly sent emails that went unanswered which is unacceptable. Yet when they want their money they each out all the time! My advice to anyone going to any new clinic is always keep on top of your Care and what’s going on. Be your own advocate. Ask lots and lots of questions and have your nurse explain things if you are unsure. The portal service is 95% well run, again just keep on at them for answers. All nurses I dealt with were all pleasant and informative. Always know what the plan is and keep up to date with all your meds.

Describe the protocols Angeline Beltsos used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
1st retrieval we started mid cycle which unfortunately had to be cancelled due to poor response. I brought up concerns with starting mid cycle and she took this on board. Next time we primed with testosterone patches almost 1 month. During stims which are very high doses of gonal f to start with (475iu for first few days) we also included omnitrope, 25 units I think. That retrieval was my best, 3 retrieved, all mature and 1 to blast. Second cycle we primed with omnitrope for around 1/2 weeks then same stims again. On paper this was looking like my best cycle. We retrieved 5 eggs, 3 mature and fertilized but no blasts or anything to transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute). (Assigned nurse: Daniella )
My nurse was Daniella and she was really nice. Gave me info in a timely manner. Sometimes I had to double check some things I felt weren’t right and thankfully I did or mistakes would have occurred. Thankfully I knew what to expect. On the whole I do rate Daniella as a nurse and looked after my Care. Lindsay was my ultrasound tech and she was lovely too. Always told me what the findings were during scans and I found this very beneficial.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
I have had to follow up with medication ordering as my rx wasn’t called to the pharmacy. Once i noticed it, it was dealt with. Medication list for after my transfer was wrong as they printed off a previous FET protocol and thankfully i noticed and it was adjusted.

My doctor chose to have a single embryo transfer. I completely agree since this was my first pregnancy.
Very caring and compassionate doctor. I love how she [Dr. Jeelani] is very open with patients and has an Instagram account with helpful info. Each consult was very helpful in our decisions as to what to do moving forward...Ask a lot of questions and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and what you need with any doctor
Great medical team. Would like better communication with the nursing and billing staff but it seems to be a common theme with a lot of clinics. Overall it's not terrible but save your receipts as some of my payments didn't show as posted...she [Dr. Jeelani] is very open with patients and has an Instagram account with helpful info. What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
I liked her [Dr. Ellen Hayes] as a doctor, but the clinic was wrong for me. I cried a lot in when I was undergoing treatment and she was understanding, but they didn't want to do the treatments I wanted...very warm and compassionate, she's the reason I eventually got diagnosed with Endo...I would only recommend her if she left the clinic.
The clinic [VIOS Fertility Institute] is out to make money, you are a paycheck end of story, it's very plush but I felt like they preyed on desperate people. I wouldn't recommend them. They also sorta falsely represented their location in Johnson Creek...They [nursing staff] were unmemorable... it was expensive almost twice other clinics...I would only recommend her [Dr. Hayes] if she left the clinic.
