Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

IVF was scary for me AND my husband, but dr omurtag was so transparent and helped us along every step of the way. I feel like he was always available for questions, appointments, and even just to update him...We did ICSI because it was recommended, and I am currently 15 weeks pregnant...He was SO down to earth, I was terrified that I’d never get pregnant and he was so good about talking through everything and making sure my husband and I were very aware of all of the steps involved.
Everyone was very organized [at Washington University School of Medicine], even through COVID precautions. Everyone always answered all of our questions and was very kind and compassionate! I am so glad I chose this clinic, especially during such a weird time in our world...She kept me up to date with all of the details, constantly sending me messages through MyChart and responding to my questions in a very timely manner. She [the nurse] listened to me when I was confused or worried, and always answered everything with lots of details. She was one of the first people I sent my ultrasound picture and was very exciting for us!
How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
I have a pituitary cyst, which causes me to have to force ovulation. I don’t menstruate regularly, so I have to take drugs in order to bleed. I was nervous about starting IVF because my ovaries responded too much to the IUI and never got to the transfer. IVF was scary for me AND my husband, but dr omurtag was so transparent and helped us along every step of the way. I feel like he was always available for questions, appointments, and even just to update him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
He was SO down to earth, I was terrified that I’d never get pregnant and he was so good about talking through everything and making sure my husband and I were very aware of all of the steps involved.
Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
We tried IUI a couple years ago. I went in for baseline ultrasound and lab work, then started injections. My injections were nightly, followed by more ultrasounds and lab work every few days. It got very stressful and then I got the phone call that my ovaries weren’t responding the way they expected, so I’d have to cancel and try IVF. Then COVID happened. Finally in February 2021, we forced a period, and started IVF! More testing, ultrasounds and labs, injections, and countless appointments. I went through with a day5 embryo transfer and froze five more. We did ICSI because it was recommended, and I am currently 15 weeks pregnant!

Describe Kenan Omurtag's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Washington University School of Medicine.
I am glad we only transferred one embryo, dr omurtag told us it would be more successful and safer since twins run in both of our families!

During the initial consultation he was very well informed about our process already and had a game plan already in place for our experience with his clinic [Washington University - St. Louis]. He focused on our issues and I felt like he was a lot more willing to tailor the process to our specific needs, unlike our previous doctor. He went over everything in great detail, allowed us time to ask questions, and was just wonderful to work with the entire time. He genuinely cares about his patients and the outcome of their treatment.
Everything is in one spot, they get you in and out in a timely manner while still preforming the best they can. Every single person I came in contact with had such a positive attitude and was so pleasant to work with. I loved the entire staff [Washington University - St. Louis]! ... They treated me with the utmost respect and care that I needed during this difficult process. ... The nursing staff was wonderful. They made no mistakes and went over everything with me thoroughly.
How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
I came to Dr. Omurtag after we had a very bad experience with another local fertility specialist after a failed IVF cycle. He also came highly recommended by coworkers. During the initial consultation he was very well informed about our process already and had a game plan already in place for our experience with his clinic. I have already recommended him to friends, and will return to him later on for additional treatment when needed. Best fertility doctor ever!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
As hard as the entire process is, try to relax and trust that this fertility clinic has your best interest at heart.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
Everyone I came in contact with at this clinic was absolutely wonderful. They treated me with the utmost respect and care that I needed during this difficult process. I couldn't say more positive things about the entire staff, they were perfect!
Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
We did a full IVF procedure. I went in for a sonohyst to check my ovarian reserve, everything went great. They then started me on birth control pills after my next period, which I took for 3 weeks. I started Lupron 4 days before my birth control ended, then added in Gonal F, and Menopur later on. We did the trigger shot and then egg retrieval, and a 5 day fresh transfer.

I have been to more than one fertility clinic, and I have to say, this one was the absolute best, hands down. Everything is in one spot, they get you in and out in a timely manner while still preforming the best they can. Every single person I came in contact with had such a positive attitude and was so pleasant to work with. I loved the entire staff!

Dr. Omurtag was efficient and thorough in explaining everything. I first met him during a Zoom consult where he seemed a little brusque, but I thought he was kind and friendly in person. He performed a SIS for me and it was easy and painless. I appreciated that he has a strong social media presence, breaking down infertility topics in videos and participating in Reddit AMAs...Procedures and protocols were thoroughly explained, my questions were always answered, and Dr. Omurtag was friendly and compassionate.
Research is a strong component at this clinic [Washington University School of Medicine], so you may be asked if you’d like to participate in a study or if a student can attend a procedure. The clinic provided a lot of materials about IVF and were very thorough in explaining everything...The nursing staff was fantastic! I did four rounds of IUI with Clomid. One was a failed cycle because we missed my ovulation. After that the clinic monitored me much more closely and we completed three rounds. The first resulted in a chemical pregnancy and the remaining two were unsuccessful. We were planning to do a long agonist IVF protocol as our next step but conceived spontaneously while waiting for our genetic screening results to come back.

Dr. Omurtag was so Personable every time I saw him. Talked and make me feel comfortable every time I saw him...He is so kind and compassionate! Had a wonderful experience from my first time meeting him in the office to be evaluated and explained everything in a way we could understand why we weren’t get pregnant on our own. Always told us risks and numbers of our chances.
I didn’t notice any weakness [at Washington University School of Medicine]. Everyone knew what they were doing and was on the same page...I do Wish Dr. Omurtag was able to do my transfers personally, but Dr. Keller did an amazing job and I felt at peace having her do it as well! All the lab techs that drew my blood were excellent as well!

Dr. Omurtag was very knowledgeable about the process and straight forward about the complications that could arise and the cost associated with it. Overall it was a great experience...I was treated with respect and with kindness...No one "wants" to have to go thru fertility treatments, but if you are in the situation, you are in good hands with Dr. Omurtag. Ask a lot of questions because he has all the answers and explains it in a very easy way to understand.
It took a few months to get an appointment (virtually) [at Washington University School of Medicine], but it was worth the wait. Once we had the appointment, bloodwork and an ultrasound were scheduled within days and everything moved rather quickly. We were comfortable speaking to the nurses and staff and everyone seemed knowledgeable and friendly.

Dr. Lebovic made sure he listened...created a plan to fit what we wanted...always took the time to call me every step of the way...adjusted my meds and saved me from getting OHSS by stimming me at a slower rate...14 days of stims, using Menopur, GonalF and Cetrotitde...triggered with HCG and Lupron...30 eggs, 19 mature to fertilize.
[At Washington University School of Medicine] My nurse Kate was always there for me and answered any question I had in a timely manner....never had to wait days for replies. She called me quickly with results...Every staff member was so caring and nice...single embryo transfer due to my age

For my retrieval I did about 14 days of stims, using Menopur, GonalF and Cetrotitde. I triggered with HCG and Lupron. This resulted in 30 eggs, 19 mature to fertilize. My transfer we used estrogen 3 times a day and then pio. My first transfer with Dr. Lebovic is a 4AA and was successful

My husband and I owe everything to WashU fertility! We came from another clinic feeling defeated after 2 failed embryo transfers. Dr. Lebovic was confident that we would have a favorable outcome and tailored the perfect plan for our IVF cycle. My last clinic I had OHSS after retrieval, WashU made sure that did not happen even with retrieving 30 eggs. We ended up getting 7 highly graded embryos. Our first transfer stuck and I am now 8.5 weeks pregnant! My nurse Kate was always there for me and answered any question I had in a timely manner. Every staff member was so caring and nice. I cannot recommend WashU enough!!!

Luckily we had insurance coverage. So out of pocket we are about $4,000 for everything to include the retrieval and transfer

Dr. Omurtag was absolutely amazing & I would highly recommend him to anyone going through infertility. We couldn’t have asked for a better fertility doctor-from the very first consultation up until our follow-up appointment and everything in between. He wanted to get to know us as people, and it is so evident that he truly cares about his patients.
Single embryo transfer is what they recommended, and seem to recommend to most younger patients...She [Washington University nurse] never made me feel like I was driving her crazy with all my questions, or that any questions was a dumb question. She was always very thorough with instructions when I was going through my stimulation medicines and her communicating with me was absolutely amazing!

Awesome expert doctor. No complaints or suggestions, this doctor [Dr. Dan Lebovic] knows what he is doing...I’m so grateful. He was calm and made sure understood everything. Infertility is not easy but going to this doctor made the process make sense. The doctor knew my history and status. The expert care shined through and I would recommend people to go to this doctor for successful IVF care. Thank you!
No weaknesses. They have this process down. I’m so thankful. It is pricey but really it is everywhere and its cost of the process. Make sure that you understand the cost before going forward...The nurses and other staff was 100% professionals. I loved working with them...This doctor [Dr. Dan Lebovic] was great, I felt heard and supported. Very open with me of the risks and the possibilities. Describe your experience with Washington University School of Medicine.
No weaknesses. They have this process down. I’m so thankful. It is pricey but really it is everywhere and its cost of the process. Make sure that you understand the cost before going forward. I have to say that the cost is nothing if you are able to get the positive results. I wish more insurance covered this amazing service. I think that people deserve this kind of medical attention and treatment if needed. Everyone should have access to infertility care.

Dr Omurtag was direct and personal in his communication. I had a complete understanding of the timeline, procedures, risks/benefits, providers involved in our case, etc. that we would encounter during our treatment...did a great job presenting relevant medical information regarding our treatment in a personal and professional manner...The providers at the clinic are very helpful so do not hesitate to ask questions especially if you do not have prior knowledge of fertility treatment...
My nurse [at Washington U Fertility], Kim was amazing! She was an incredible resource during treatment, quick to answer any questions, helpful in navigating resources for medications, and incredibly compassionate...The clinic was very prompt with appointments, easy to schedule with, friendly, clean, and resourceful...I was in contact with a variety of individuals during our treatment (i.e., ultrasound technicians, nurses, doctors, etc.) and every individual was kind and professional...

Dr. Lebovic is very educated and a great resource for everything relating to infertility. He does not sugarcoat the truth. Most likely if Dr. Lebovic was not as direct with my maternal age in relation to a diminishing quality of eggs down the road, I would still be toying with doing IVF and maybe would not have gotten as positive of an outcome if he hadn’t said it like it was...He has a caring attitude and wants the best for each patient.
They [Washington University School of Medicine] know what they are doing. They are a well-oiled machine. I loved that all of my treatments were handled in the same office and the office ran like clockwork. I never had to wait too long for any appointment. My ability to make an appointment was also very easy. The whole team is very educated and work well together...All of the nurses showed compassion and quickness in response.
