How was your experience with Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN) at Texas IVF OB?
Dr. Rodriguez was nice to talk to as a person. However, I can never see Dr. Rodriguez during my appointments or ask any questions over the phone or via email unless I make special appointments to meet with him. The treatment plans and methods are not up-to-date unfortunately and caused a lot of suffering and pain. I have been asked to take the same torturing tests again and again because I had a surgery and came back after 6 months, or because the doctor went on vacation, and they want to give me something to do during the time. When I have requests or questions, I feel they don't consider my input at all, but when I go to a different doctor, I find my inputs valuable to consider. The Obgyn doctor Dr. Rodriguez referred to didn't give me a good impression, a very rude doctor I want to say, which is very different from what Dr. Rodriguez described. Looks like Dr. Rodriguez recommend him because of his good personal relationship with him, not because he's truly a good doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN) at Texas IVF OB?
I wouldn't recommend Dr. Rodriguez to anyone. Please take a look at some other doctors and clinics in the DFW area and you'll see the difference by yourself.

2 times ERA, 3 times hysteroscopy, egg retrieval, embryo transfer, prescribed lots of unnecessary medication that caused my stomach ulcer, dyziness and other symptoms.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Texas IVF OB.
I have worked with several nurses in this clinic, in general they are fine to work with. The head nurse gets moody and rude sometimes, she also cornered me and made me feel terrible when she knew I was looking for a second opinion from a different doctor. Some nurses are nice but couldn't draw my blood properly and caused uncessary suffering. I still have scar tissues in my vain till today.

2. The doctor gave some unnecessary treatments and medicine which caused lots of physical pain.
3. The nurses are not understanding my situation very well and not skilled enough which caused lots of mental and physical suffering.
4. The communication ways are not efficient. I can barely talk to the doctor or get my questions answered, the nurses struggles to get my medicine through to the pharmacy.
I was lucky to have found Dr. Rodriguez, as my RE. Each treatment we spoke in details and he was open to adjusting medications and incorporating new treatments to the plan. Dr. Rodriguez listened and answered all my questions. Unfortunately, we had no insurance coverage and what I loved most is that Dr. Rodriguez always suggested ways to help us save money...During treatments I never felt uncomfortable with him. he always talked through each step, which for me was extremely helpful. He has a calming nature to him
The [Texas IVF] clinic overall is great. The only thing I wished if they had earlier mornings starting at 6am for bloodwork because I did have to use some PTO or stay longer at work to make up the time since they open at 8am. Other than that I had a great experience...First day meeting Dr. Rodriguez, I felt seen and heard. He listened to our concerns and was extremely compassionate. Any question or concern I had he addressed, always an open line for communication.

Dr. Rodriguez listened and answered all my questions. Unfortunately, we had no insurance coverage and what I loved most is that Dr. Rodriguez always suggested ways to help us save money. For example anything my OB could do, he would send me to him. Which helped us save a ton of money. I am forever grateful. During treatments I never felt uncomfortable with him. he always talked through each step, which for me was extremely helpful. He has a calming nature to him. I am beyond sad I won't be continuing treatments with him, due to relocating to Michigan because I do believe that even though both transfer failed, our next round we would have a baby. Thank you so much Dr. Rodriguez for all you have done for me over the past 4 years.

IUI - $3,000
IVF without ICIS or testing embryos - $20,000
Describe Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Texas IVF OB.
Single embryo transfer, if you would request multiple embryo transfer he would do it
Dr. Rodriguez is knowledgeable and experienced. He has a great bedside manner and gets straight to the point...The one thing that makes me uncomfortable is his tendency to push PGS testing. Because of this, he is not very open to adjusting treatment for women who may do better with 3 day embryos...Despite having to deliver unfortunate news at times, Dr. Rodriguez was detailed, blunt, yet gentle.
[Texas Infertility & IVF] is efficient, flexible, and runs smoothly. The financial department doesn't provide exact costs, you have to ask directly for a breakdown of costs...During second cycle, nurse dis not fax prescriptions to pharmacy in a timely manner resulting in high level of stress during an already stressful situation...one thing that makes me uncomfortable is [doctor's] tendency to push PGS testing.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN) at Texas IVF OB?
I would advise prospective patients to research and advocate for themselves. To understand that fertility treatments often have a "trial and error" approach. Also, that once your doctor has prescribed a protocol, follow the protocol.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN) at Texas IVF OB?
I felt like a human because Dr. Rodriguez and all staff seem genuinely caring. Despite having to deliver unfortunate news at times, Dr. Rodriguez was detailed, blunt, yet gentle.
Describe the protocols Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Texas IVF OB and their degree of success.
First retrieval, Dr. Rodriguez put me on birth control pills for one month prior and directed me to take Vitamin D3, Acai Berry, and Ubiquinol supplements. For stimulation, he prescribed to me Gonal F 300 IU and Menopur 150 IU injections daily, Ganireliz 250 mg when directed, and triggered with Lupron 40 IU and Novalrel 5000 IU then Lupron 40 IU 12 hours later. Second retrieval, Dr. Rodriguez had me "prime" with estrogen and testosterone orally, Dexamethasone orally. Omnitrope injections daily, same strengths of Gonal F and Menopur from first retrieval, but added Clomid during "stimulation". The trigger meds and doseage were same as first round.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Texas IVF OB. (Assigned nurse: Linda Ward)
Nurse Linda has been with Dr. Rodriguez for over 30 years and is very knowledgeable. The only issues I've had were getting prescriptions to my pharmacy in a timely manner. All staff members have been kind.
Describe your experience with Texas IVF OB.
This clinic is efficient, flexible, and runs smoothly. The financial department doesn't provide exact costs, you have to ask directly for a breakdown of costs. Due to this practice, I would say that is something this clinic should improve upon. Outside of that issue, the clinic is truly excellent.

I dont remember exact cost details.
Describe Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Texas IVF OB.
Dr. Rodriguez uses reset approach. My thoughts on this approach are: understanding the risks of twin pregnancies, I still believe that multiple embryo transfers are often the best approach for certain patients. For me, I would appreciate the option of multiple embryo transfer.

I could go on an on about how amazing I think Dr. Rodriguez is. The most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever met. He takes the time to get to know all of his patients. He is the sweetest and nicest and always took the best care of myself and my husband! ... hen I was with Dr. Rodriguez he made me feel like I was his only patient, which makes you feel so great. It makes you feel like he actually cares. You are definitely NOT just a number to him or his staff.
With everything including all special testing, PGD/PGS, uterine biopsy for transfer, retrieval, transfer, medication and all visits and monitoring it costs close to $30,000 ... Strengths are that they are a 1 doctor clinic [Texas Infertility & IVF]. I cannot tell you how much I love that. You always see your doctor, which is so great because you get to build a relationship with them and it is just much more personal.

Describe the protocols Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Texas IVF OB and their degree of success.
I have an extremely complex case. We did test after test to make sure my body was completely ready to have a transfer. I wound up having two surgeries by Dr. Rodriguez to remove uterine fibroids and he got them all out. We always did a frozen transfer because we did PGD/PGS testing on our embryos because I have a chromosome disorder. We did injectables, the estrogen patches and progesterone shots. I don’t remember how long or how much. We also did a special biopsy that tells you exactly when the transfer needs to occur. After all of that we were ready to transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Texas IVF OB. (Assigned nurse: Linda, Angela, Lorraine)
All of the ladies were amazing! Linda was always very informative and was very honest, but in a compassionate way ( which was refreshing). She was very thorough and explained everything she was doing and what I was looking at. Angela and Lorraine were equally amazing very understanding and helped ease nerves. After going to them for so long you get to know them all pretty well as they also get to know you pretty well. So they would all always ask how my family and I were doing.

You always see your doctor, which is so great because you get to build a relationship with them and it is just much more personal. Another strength is they just have such an amazing team from Dr. Rodriguez all the way to the receptionist. I honestly cannot think of any weaknesses. One thing I would tell another patient is these processes take time so be patient and they will do everything they can to try and help you conceive.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Texas IVF OB.
I loved having Linda do my monitoring appointments. She learned certain things about me so she knew exactly what to look for and how to navigate around obstacles. Also Dr. Rodriguez was also at all my monitoring appointments to check in which was great. Always greeted with a smile and asking us how things were going

Describe Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Texas IVF OB.
Dr. Rodriguez always said they are our embryos and would never tell us what we were to do with them or how many (unless and excessive amount). He always told me what he suggested for my personal case which was to transfer one. He told me the risks of transferring multiple embryos and the risk of carrying multiples. He let me make an informed decision after giving me every detail of all scenarios. I listened to his advice and only transferred one at a time.
Dr. Rodriguez was very friendly and sensitive to the fact that we hadn’t been able to get pregnant. He was clear and concise about the procedures I would undergo, and never rushed anything, even though I was anxious to get started. He recommended I have an ultrasound of my uterus done before IUI to rule out any other problems, and it was there that I found out that I had uterine polyps. He never rushed me during appointments or made me feel like a number. He even answered the millions of questions my mom had for him as well! :)
The nurses [at Texas Infertility and IVF] were so caring and kind towards my individual situation. I felt like they truly knew me and remembered details about my personal life. Especially Linda!!...She was like a mother to me, so caring and compassionate, especially when calling me to tell me that the IUI procedures were unsuccessful....The total cost for each IUI procedure was $900. This included all appointments with Dr. Rodriguez, blood work, and the actual IUI procedure. This price did not include the medication which I had to purchase from a pharmacy, totaling about $200.

I was to take a medication that would promote follicle growth. I had to go in for sonograms to see if the follicles had begun growing. 24 hours before the planned IUI time, I was instructed to give myself the injection into my belly. After the IUI procedure, we did blood work about a week after to test progesterone levels, and then another blood test a week after that for the actual pregnancy test. Both IUI procedures failed.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Texas IVF OB.
I absolutely loved everyone from the women who just took my blood to Linda, who actually performed one of the IUI procedures. She was like a mother to me, so caring and compassionate, especially when calling me to tell me that the IUI procedures were unsuccessful.
Describe your experience with Texas IVF OB.
There were a few issues with billing/payment. 2-3 times I was billed and asked to pay copays, when I shouldn’t have. The staff quickly fixed the issue. The attitude of every staff member I came across was very positive and welcoming.

He iDr Rodriguez] is the best doctor I have ever come across. I have never met such a understanding and compassionate doctor. I feel like I am his only patient when he is with me and he reassures me all the time. I have been through a lot with him in the last year and he took his time to make sure everything goes right with my upcoming transfer!
His practice does not act like a factory, they take their time to diagnosis and treat you. Don't bother looking for another doctor just go to him right away. He was reffered to us by a good friend who had twins through him and I am so grateful he did....Its a wonderful warm and welcoming place. All the staff know who you are as soon as you walk in the door. Everyone is extremely friendly, kind and understanding.

His protocol was different than my previous fertility doctor, he made sure he looked at everything very carefully. I required two surgeries after my retrieval to remove fibroids and he made sure it was done meticulously. We are currently in the process of doing a frozen transfer next month.

Dr. Rodriguez was incredible. I saw him at nearly every visit and he always greeted me with a smile and knew my name/where we were.... Again, cannot express how wonderful of a doctor he was. We experienced a full term loss before needing his services, so he was extremely sensitive and compassionate to that situation. He took so much time to explain processes to me and my husband.
I never waited more than ten minutes for an appointment [at Texas Infertility and IVF] and could always reach a nurse when I needed to. They always called back promptly if I left a message. The office also had Saturday appointments available when I needed them before my retrieval. Children were not allowed in the waiting room, which I thought was a very sensitive philosophy for them to follow for patients who did not have other children.

We starting with stimulation of egg development (sorry, I forget the drugs - all injectables), followed by a trigger shot and IUI. I was developing too many eggs and we had to abandon a cycle, so Dr. R. recommended we move to IVF. We started with Lupron, then the injectables to develop the follicles, followed by the trigger shot and retrieval. Started IM progesteron in oil following the retrieval to keep my lining intact. We transferred on day 3.

His staff simply recommended the CoQ10, Acai, he did not recommend DHEA, which I found interesting, because another clinic I was working with, CNY Albany definitely wanted me to use DHEA because of the clinical experiments and success they had using it for women with DOR.

The nursing staff is such a pleasure to work with. They have worked with Dr. Rodriguez for over 30 years and they feel like family working together. They are very close and where one drops off another can pick right up and speak to your treatment plan. It's really quite impressive considering the world today.

Describe Alfred Rodriguez (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Texas IVF OB.
Dr. Rodriguez has a beautiful bed side manner. It was impossible to feel scared or confused with Dr. Rodriguez because he always had me laughing which helps with my anxiety. I have decided Dr. Rodriguez is the only fertility specialist I will see...Get ready to laugh & feel like your at home. Be open & honest about anything he asks you...performed surgery to get rid of my polyps. We called it "womb renovation". He said we have to get the "baby's room" ready. He also prescribed birth control pills, estrogen, & testosterone to regulate my hormones. Even though I didn't have the money to move forward with the actual IVF, Dr. Rodriguez still made sure my body was ready when that day comes.
All of the nurses [at Texas Infertility & IVF] are pleasant, kind & very knowledgeable. At least 3 of them cried with me before. It's very comforting to be treated like a person & not a dollor sign...billing department set me up on a payment arrangement. I am able to keep my appointments and make monthly pays...There aren't any weakness. I can advise there is no "wait time" I would try to arrive 5 minutes before my appointment each time. As soon as I would choose which chair I was going to sit in I was already being called to the back. There was always a room waiting for me and the room was always set up for whatever procedure was being performed that day. I was never asked to wait while the doctor or nurse goes to retrieve the correct tool that's needed. This clinic is always prepared & organized.

[Dr. Alfred Rodriguez] was gentle and kind. He prayed with us & gave us sound advice...shared in our hopes & dreams. He had the bedside manner of a friend rather than a doctor. Not intimidating and easy to ask questions. That’s was his biggest strength but his biggest weakness as well...1 IVF treatment that ultimately resulted in an abnormal embryo. 2 IUI treatments with injectables with no results.
[Nurse] has terrible bedside manner. When IVF failed the very next appt she suggested adoption...lacked compassion...was usually talking about her daughter’s pregnancy or new baby...not exactly the right time to discuss all the easy success of your family. She was cold and not what one would expect in an infertility clinic...The other staff nurses and receptionist were great. Well organized & friendly...

Describe your experience with your nurse at Texas IVF OB. (Assigned nurse: Linda)
Linda has terrible bedside manner. When IVF failed the very next appt she suggested adoption. She lacked compassion. Her bedside manner was usually talking about her daughter’s pregnancy or new baby...not exactly the right time to discuss all the easy success of your family. She was cold and not what one would expect in an infertility clinic. (I’m a RN & was appalled at how we were treated.)
