We both loved how straight-forward Dr. G was from the very beginning. We didn’t want to be coddled and we didn’t want emotions to get in the way of trying to get pregnant. We wanted someone who was knowledgeable and would make the very best decisions to give us the baby we’ve desired for years. In the beginning, he seemed a little cold. Once I saw him more, he started to warm up, and I realized he was a little out of his element and scattered when I saw him at the Frisco location. I later realized that his “home” location was Dallas and his nurse was there too. When he saw me in Frisco, he didn’t have her with him to keep details in order, which made me feel like he wasn’t prepared for our appointment or my medical history. He was very patient with my questions and he took great care of us when we had to redirect our 1st round of IVF into an IUI due to a small number of follicles. He helped us save a lot of money and heartbreak in that process when we found out the pregnancy was negative.

One piece of advice is to not expect him to be a warm, fuzzy, emotional midwife. He cuts clear and to the point, which I appreciate, but he can appear cold or disinterested if you don’t know him super well.

When we started our 1st round of IVF, his course of treatment included the highest dosages of menopur, gonal F, and cetrotide prior to the trigger shot. I was put on the highest dosage possible due to my extremely low egg reserve and only having one ovary. These doses only produced 2 healthy follicles, so Dr. Geurami highly recommended that we not move forward with egg retrieval and instead do IUI. We agreed and moved forward with that procedure which ultimately resulted in a negative HCG two weeks later. We took one month off, and were planning to start round 2 in mid-March when our IVF cycle got cancelled due to COVID-19 just a few days before our injections began. The plan for round 2 included a HGH which Dr. G was hopeful would boost the quality of my eggs to make up for the low reserve.

He hasn’t gone into this in great detail, but he has mentioned multiple times that my health is the most important and if there was an option to implant multiple embryos he would always want to do just one at a time to ensure I have the safest, most healthy pregnancy and go to full-term.

Dr. Guerami has extensive experience in reproductive endocrinology, and he is very candid in his expectations for treatment and the likelihood that the treatment will be successful. I especially appreciate that Dr. Guerami is passionate about educating the patient on what will occur during each of the treatment sessions and providing options, based on the risks. Dr. Guerami does have an accent, so it may be difficult to fully understand him 100% of the time, but he is patient and will repeat himself to ensure that his patients understand their treatment, the steps for treatment, and the expected outcomes for the treatment.

Dr. Guerami is not a Texan, so don't expect the deep fried Southern hospitality of a Texan. Instead, be open to his style of working and his personality - he truly does care about his patients and wants to be confident that you understand the why before the how.

Many times, the front desk would call and tell me my upcoming payment for upcoming visits, but I have received a few bills after the fact. I'm assuming this is due to insurance settlements.

Dr. Guerami is adamant that a woman's body is meant to hold one child at a time during pregnancy, and he will not implant two embryos during one IVF cycle. He would prefer that you have a healthy singleton pregnancy that you can carry to term than multiples that may be delivered early and will be in the NICU after being born.

He assured me and my husband that he would do everything in his power to help us conceive. He answered our questions and was compassionate. When he delivered bad news he listened to us and reassured us.

He is awesome.

He preferred eSET. He told us he would not do multiple embryo transfers. I don't know if it was just our case or everyone. I felt like he was tailoring our treatment though.
