Dr. Nasseri is an incredibly intelligent and talented doctor...was willing to answer to my concerns...isn't "warm and fuzzy"...always felt a sense of humanity and caring energy...only had to do 1 retrieval and 1 embryo transfer...had a total fertilization failure and consented to day 1 rescue ICSI, which yielded 18 fertilized embryos -> 4 blasts -> 3 euploid
Strengths [of Valley Hospital Fertility Center]: smaller clinic so more personalized feel, wait time is minimal, nurses and doctor's know you by name/recognize you, front desk and billing team staff is kind, the facility is modern and clean, procedures done in the main hospital...Weaknesses: Can sometimes feel rushed during AM monitoring appointments
How was your experience with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Dr. Nasseri is an incredibly intelligent and talented doctor. He clearly knows what he is doing and has a plan, while at the same time was willing to answer to my concerns about said plan. I had both expected and unexpected issues occur throughout the IVF process, and I trusted Dr. Nasseri in his approach throughout the course of treatment. Dr. Nasseri isn't "warm and fuzzy" but I always felt a sense of humanity and caring energy from him. He would call me with important results and I really appreciated that, too.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Bring your questions and ask them- he tends to keep things straight to the point and not over explain things, BUT he is willing to answer questions and seems truly interested in explaining/sharing knowledge.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
I was always greeted with a warm smile and by my name. Important information was not forgotten about.
Describe the protocols Ali Nasseri used in your cycles at Valley Hospital Fertility Center and their degree of success.
My partner and I came to Dr. Nasseri ready to start IVF after 5 failed cycles of letrozole/clomid + IUI . I am lucky to say I only had to do 1 retrieval and 1 embryo transfer. Started on birth control pill for 10 days, then for retrieval since my AFC was on the higher side I had a low dose (150 units) of folistim and 75 units of menopur for 13 days, then lupron and hcg trigger shot. Initially the plan was conventional IVF (no ICSI) because there was no male factor infertility detected however we had a total fertilization failure and consented to day 1 rescue ICSI, which yielded 18 fertilized embryos -> 4 blasts -> 3 euploid. This is much better than I ever expected given the need for rescue ICSI so I was satisfied. We did an embryo transfer as soon as we could- I did a natural transfer with progesterone suppositories. Success and graduated at 8 weeks pregnant.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
The nursing staff are compassionate and kind. They are thorough and very responsive using the patient portal.
Describe your experience with Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Strengths: smaller clinic so more personalized feel, wait time is minimal, nurses and doctor's know you by name/recognize you, front desk and billing team staff is kind, the facility is modern and clean, procedures (egg retrieval, embryo transfer) done in the main hospital which was comforting Weaknesses: Can sometimes feel rushed during AM monitoring appointments but there's typically not much to say during these appointments in my experience.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Very efficient, wouldn't wait for more than 5 minutes typically, sometimes. a bit longer on weekends. It did feel rushed at times but that did not really bother me because I just wanted to get in and out, too. The appointments start at 7 AM and so it did not disrupt my work schedule. It was easy to request a time that worked best for me.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
My insurance covered a portion of the cost, I spent about $15,000 out of pocket (1 egg retrieval, ICSI, PGT testing, medications, 1 embryo transfer, monitoring).
Describe Ali Nasseri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
Dr. Nasseri's plan was eSET and I agreed as I have no interest in multiple embryo transfer and it didn't make sense for my case.
What specific things went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
The head nurse who doesn't typically deal with patients directly gave me conflicting information about when I was going to start stimming for IVF but it was resolved by another nurse the following day who called me and talked me through the plan.

I came to Dr. Nasseri with Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and for trying for over a year at age 39. After a very comprehensive diagnostic work up, we discovered that I had uterine adhesions which required an operative hysteroscopy, to rule out that the adhesions were the cause of my miscarriages.... Dr. Nasseri is very intelligent and presents information in a very clear cut manner; in the beginning he came across as cold. However, as I have continued to see him, he has warned up and become more “human"
The nursing staff at Valley Fertility Center are excellent. If you call with a question or concern, they get back to immediately and always within the same business day. They are compassionate and though they deal with a lot of patients, they remember me and call me by my name at each visit.... The clinic has, thus far, been really easy to work with regarding scheduling. I’ve had to change an appointment or two for work and it was never issue. The clinic has monitoring hours every morning and it is a very quick in and out visit. My advice to new patients is to get there early; it is a first come first serve basis.
How was your experience with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Dr. Nasseri is everything I would look for in a Reproductive Endocrinologist. He is thorough and has a good bedside manner. He is also very creative when it comes to finances and helping us to identify a treatment that will fit within the bounds of our budget. While we have done one surgery with him and are just in the midst of our first cycle with him, I feel comfortable saying that we will be with him until the end of our fertility journey, wherever that may take us.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
Be sure to have a list a questions; while Dr. Nasseri is very attentive, I had to clarify several things in the beginning of this process. It was helpful to have that list in front of me.

Dr. Nasseri is very intelligent and presents information in a very clear cut manner; in the beginning he came across as cold. However, as I have continued to see him, he has warned up and become more “human”. He performed an operative hysteroscopy on me and made me feel very at ease prior to the procedure.

After a very comprehensive diagnostic work up, we discovered that I had uterine adhesions which required an operative hysteroscopy, to rule out that the adhesions were the cause of my miscarriages. Dr. Nasseri has made the recommendation that we go straight to IVF with PGS testing to identify the highest quality embroyos but for financial reasons we are not able to move forward with that treatment at the moment. Instead we are doing a medicated cycle with IUI.

Some things were covered by my insurance. Some not. I have not tallied up the money we have spent there yet as we are just beginning out treatment.
Describe Ali Nasseri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I have not gotten to that stage of the process but it is my understanding that Dr. Nasseri and his staff prefer single embryo transfer.

In the beginning of this process, I did feel like we were a number but most recently, Dr. Nasseri came up with an alternative treatment for us because we cannot currently afford IVF. I felt like he really worked with us as a couple and provided us with the best option that we can move forward with right away.... due to my wife's recurrent pregnancy loss, I had to have a full blood workup, genetic testing, karyotyping and semen analysis. At the end of the day, everything was "clear" on my end so aside from recurrent pregnancy loss, we are stuck in the grey area of "unexplained infertility"
I have dealt with the nursing staff [Valley Hospital Fertility Center] the most. Every nurse is so nice and warm. Always making jokes and keeping you at ease. I would definitely recommend them as a team.... I'm not sure if this is a weakness specific to our clinic, but I feel like the diagnostic process took a long time. And unfortunately we still have no solid "answer". I have never had an issue getting an appointment with the clinic so that is a definite strength.
How was your experience with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
While I have not had to go through all of the procedures that my wife has had, I have had to undergo some testing and I felt like everyone was explained to me in a pretty clear manner. For my experience, I had to deal with the nursing staff much more closely than Dr. Nasseri.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
For me, it would have been helpful to get a more detailed rundown of all of our fertility options in the beginning - everything from Clomid, to IUI, to IVF. I would have asked more questions upfront.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center?
In general, I feel like most fertility clinics are just trying to recruit as many patients as possible. In the beginning of this process, I did feel like we were a number but most recently, Dr. Nasseri came up with an alternative treatment for us because we cannot currently afford IVF. I felt like he really worked with us as a couple and provided us with the best option that we can move forward with right away.
Describe the protocols Ali Nasseri used in your cycles at Valley Hospital Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Personally, due to my wife's recurrent pregnancy loss, I had to have a full blood workup, genetic testing, karyotyping and semen analysis. At the end of the day, everything was "clear" on my end so aside from recurrent pregnancy loss, we are stuck in the grey area of "unexplained infertility". We are currently undergoing our first cycle with Clomid.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I'm unsure of the costs associated with our care. I do know that we currently cannot afford IVF at the moment. I believe that is estimated around $12000 before medication.
Describe Ali Nasseri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Valley Hospital Fertility Center.
I'm not familiar with the doctor's approach to single vs. multiple transfers. We have not gotten this far in the process.

He [Dr. Nasseri] was very straightforward with what my options were and the likelihood of success...If you need someone who is extremely compassionate and heartwarming, I would not recommend Nasseri. He is in NO WAY cold, but he does tell you it straight...All of the nurses knew me by name, they knew about my history and treatment as did Dr. Nassiri - he didn't spend time looking at my chart during our consultations (he had already read it as he was educated on my chart)...
The nursing staff [at Valley Hospital Fertility Center - Ridgewood] was top notch, they were always compassionate, warm and invited any and all questions I had during my cycle...I was doing FET and there was barely any communication from egg retrieval day to the day they called me to advise how many were frozen and sent for PGS. Whether that is a product of the lab or the doctor but there was a significant drop off from what was collected to what was frozen and I wish I would have had a call to prepare me for this outcome. 12 were collected and only two made it to be frozen/tested...

I am approaching 40 years old and we had 10 days of stims which had us start at 150 menapur and 150 Follistum and after 3 days, we increased to 300 units of menapur and 150 follistum.

Had my workup and went into the results expecting to hear them. Doctor [Dr. Ali Nasseri] asked if I decided on a donor without giving the results. Would not consider own eggs...was set on donor since I met him. He did not explain my workup results and was pushing donor. Would not try a cycle with my own eggs. I was seeing him for his analysis and he pushed it back on me.
[Dr. Ali Nasseri at Valley Hospital Fertility Center] never explained initial workup. Just asked if I decided if I want to use a donor...Practice is very small-there are only 3 doctors. Doctor pushes donors. Doctor does not review results and does not offer suggestions. Doctor is very blunt and non-compassionate to older patients. Nurse is very kind and knowledgable on 3rd party reproduction. Offered me a ton of info.
