IVF is an emotionally and physically taxing experience and having Dr. Star by my side to support me and well as explain every single part of the process has been more than helpful. She’s extremely knowledgeable and professional, and she’s someone I can relate to. When issues arise during parts of my IVF cycle, because our bodies are not perfect, Dr. Star listens to every single one of my concerns and answers all of my questions with thorough explanations. She’s extremely responsive to every email or phone call request I have. When I advocate for myself Dr. Star is always available and willing to hear me out in an extremely kind manner. As a provider myself, I always look for other providers who are willing to listen to their patients and have good bedside manner. Dr. Star has the best bedside manner. She’ll visit you before every procedure and make sure you’re comfortable and confident with the procedure and she takes time to answer all your questions. I highly recommend Dr. Star. IVF is difficult as it is, it’s much easier to have a provider who understands what you’re going through and makes it as painless as possible.

Its important to understand that IVF is not a one size fits all cookie cutter approach. Medications may have to be adjusted and cycles may get canceled but know that Dr. Star has your back and shes double & triple checking things to make sure your treatment plan works best for you and your partner specifically.

For my egg retrieval I took 225 IU Follistim between and 75 IU Menopur. I also took an injection of Ganirelix each morning towards the end of my cycle before the egg retrieval. Dr. Star also prescribed me Leuprolide for my trigger shot to prevent OHSS. I was at high risk for OHSS, so Follistim was adjusted and luckily I did not get OHSS.

I have not transferred my embryo yet, but Dr. Star has extremely safe protocol when it comes to medications, procedures, and transfers and she recommended single embryo transfer to prevent risk of complications

Dr. Starostanko reviewed our records and quickly pushed us to IVF. She was not available to us between in person appointments to answer any questions. I did not feel that I could get answers to questions. Instead, she interpreted results from testing and we only heard the recommendation for IVF from the nurse. I did not feel that she adequately explained the results and provided options other than proceeding with IVF.

Learn to advocate for yourself and ask a lot of questions.

The only procedure she completed was a saline sonogram.

They have not provided a statement, even over a month after the initial visit.

Dr. Starostanko is truly the best doctor I’ve had. If I could have her for all of my specialties I would. She is extremely empathetic, as she too experienced infertility and IVF. She makes sure I feel heard. She has incredible bedside manners. I’ve never trusted a medical professional more. I truly don’t have any negative comments.

Be open and honest. She is very honorable in your wishes and care.

Dr. Starostanko had me stimulate with gonal f and menopur, along with cetrotide. I triggered with leuprolide because I was at risk for OHSS. She took such great care in preventing OHSS (successfully). Retrieval produced great results. 20 eggs, 15 mature, 14 fertilized, 9 embryos. Transfer protocol included estrogen, progesterone in oil, lovenox and prednisone. We transferred 1 embryo which resulted in a successful pregnancy!

Total costs so far have been about 25,000. However, they are great with offering payment plans, discounts etc.

Dr. Starostanko is incredibly knowledgeable and I feel like I am in the best hands with her. She treats me with respect. I have never felt like a bother to her with questions. I have never felt like just a number to her. I truly feel like she wants success for me as much as I do for myself. She is professional, compassionate, and extremely knowledgeable. I couldn’t ask for anything else in a fertility doctor!

She is worth dealing with the clinic, stick it out for her!

I am in the early stages of my IVF. But I will be doing the usual protocol. We are using donor sperm so that’s the only difference in our case
