Success w/ Doc Not sure
She [Dr. Thyer] was willing to modify protocols when we weren't getting the results we wanted. She was comfortable trying low-dose IVF which is something newer on the scene for my situation. She was also willing to run tests proactively given as older prospective parents we didn't want to waste any cycles if we could spot a problem ahead of time that was relatively easy to diagnose such as run a blood panel, genetic prescreen, or hysteroscopy.
This practice [Seattle Reproductive Medicine] does a high volume and sometimes if you are not a squeaky wheel, you will not the the information you need in a timely fashion. This clinic had my allergies on file and still prescribed me a medication that is prohibited with my allergies... I wasn't really alerted about when my care coordinator was going to be out and would get emails or calls back from nurses I didn't know. Sometimes felt like I did not get speedy responses to my emails.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
She was willing to modify protocols when we weren't getting the results we wanted. Sometimes I felt like the follow through was lacking. I asked about some lab stats for example and she never really got back to us with the answers and though this is typical health care system stuff falling through the cracks, it's really bothers me when I have to keep repeating my questions to get answers. Overall she has a style of delivering realistic info in a nicer way.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Be proactive in asking for feedback after tests or cycles because your case will not be automatically reviewed by her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
This practice does a high volume and sometimes if you are not a squeaky wheel, you will not the the information you need in a timely fashion. This clinic had my allergies on file and still prescribed me a medication that is prohibited with my allergies. They were courteous about resolving that and prescribing an alternative. Also it wasn't until we were several IUI's in that they commented on some age related poor quality in the specimens my husband produced. This was only because we made an appointment to go back over our results. It shocked me that our doc did not seem to be at least reviewing the data coming out of our IUIs and letting us know if something didn't look right, because we were not the experts and didn't know what do look for. I do feel in general that I was able to get all the tests I asked for once I started doing research about my situation. They did decline to do acrosome sperm testing, which we wanted to see if it was worth doing more IUIs before moving on to IVF. They are not a weeding out practice, allowing you to try IVF even when your success rates are low (less than 10% per cycle). Our Doctor was realistic and kind in telling me the stats and in doing any tests that seemed reasonable. Also they are conscientious of wait times and if its over 30 mins late they give you a starbucks card. I found the nurses to overall be pleasant in clinic but sometimes not as responsive in email as I would like. When I mentioned that I have had some painful IUIs, my doc made sure my next one was done by the same experienced person.
Describe the protocols Angela Thyer used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Our first attempts to deal with my age related diminished ovarian reserve were to try medicated IUI's to help me ovulate a few eggs each cycle. We tried follistim and menopur and I was successful in producing 2-4 follicles of appropriate size each time but none resulted in pregnancy. I also did at one point develop a cyst after doing back to back cycles that necessitated us delaying our next IUI attempt until it resolved. After 3 failed IUIs we discussed trying IVF or a mini/low dose IVF but eventually decided to go with another clinic to pursue this treatment.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Shannon)
I wasn't really alerted about when my care coordinator was going to be out and would get emails or calls back from nurses I didn't know. Sometimes felt like I did not get speedy responses to my emails. There was one situation where I was having trouble getting timely responses from the pharmacy where the clinic told me they sent the prescription and the clinic staff was slow to respond to my requests to use another pharmacy even though time was running out for me before an upcoming holiday to get stuff shipped in time. It made for a much more stressful process than it needed to be. Otherwise I found most of the nurses to be pretty pleasant.
Describe your experience with Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
Strengths: This is not a screening clinic. They do try to help everyone while also being realistic about your chances of conceiving. Their higher numbers of patients can be a good thing as far as making sure their lab is handling an adequate number of cases to keep their skills sharp. Although we had some IUI semen samples where things got worse rather than better after their lab treatment to them with no concern from them at the time that this was a problem, which made us have less confidence in their lab. Lots of locations for more convenience. Weaknesses: This is a high throughput clinic and if you are not proactive about seeking feedback you will get lost in the shuffle at various points. You will not see your doctor during IUIs, ultrasound checks as this stuff is handled by the staff. The doctors also rotate who is on duty for the surgery procedures so it may not be your doc who does the egg retrieval for example. Based on my search for how many papers their physicians have authored recently, they don't really have a research focus. If you want the kind of team who really enjoys staying really on top of the latest technology improvements and working towards more, this is not the clinic for you. Billing can be incredibly slow. We received our last bill 7 months after the appointment. Other: Often doctors are booked more than a month out so be proactive about scheduling follow ups in advance if you want to see them in a timely fashion.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
IUI's would run about 1200 plus medication costs.
What specific things went wrong at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?

  • Failed to consider drug intolerance
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
They prescribed me a medication that was contraindicated based on my allergies. I'm the one who caught it and had to have them change it. We only got feedback on the quality of the semen samples for our 3 IUIs after we bothered to make an appointment to discuss our next gameplan. Only then was it relayed to us that we might have some male factor diminished quality issues going on and as a 40+ couple with not a lot of time left to conceive, this felt super disrespectful of our time and resources. We may have moved on quicker to the next phase had we known this information earlier. We also had some privacy issues with this clinic. The clinic asked us to provide our personal email addresses. I was reluctant to give mine because I told the clinic that I did not want health info sent to my email. They said they didn't do that because we would get a secure portal in which to exchange messages, so I then did agree to give my email as long as they didn't use it to send communications. Just a few days later, when some screening tests were ordered, the clinic shared our personal emails with the third party lab who does the screening. This third party then then emailed us to our personal emails. I had to alert the clinic that they had violated our requests about using our personal email addresses. They apologized and told us they were taking steps to prevent this in the future.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
She [Dr. Angela Thyer] explained steps and procedures to me, was very honest in her appraisal of my changes using my own eggs for IVF, and expressed excitement during my embryo adoption/donation journey....The one item that I haven’t liked as much is that when Dr Thyer provides statistics about chances she can deliver them very matter of factly...which is already not as good of news as we would like, harder to hear.
Beautiful clean clinic [Seattle Reproductive Medicine] located in Seattle. Parking can usually be found for free on the hill outside of the click, but there is also paid parking available. Everyone has been very nice. I appreciate that they are very inclusive and referred a queer couple to the clinic. The online portal is much better than another clinic I have used, and the care team is responsive.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Dr Thyer was recommended to us by a colleague who was successful with IVF. Our initial meetings with her were all virtual because we started seeing her during lockdown, after having a bad experience at our previous clinic. She listened and explained options throughout our time with her. I ended up finding out that my egg reserve was low for my age and my chances of conceiving with my own eggs was pretty low. She recommended two cycles of IVF hoping to get 1-2 embryos per cycle. In the end this didn’t seem like the right choice for us and we chose embryo adoption/donation. Dr Thyer performed some tests for me in the clinic and again explained things and was compassionate. We are going to do our first frozen embryo transfer this next cycle so I can’t provide any more feedback about results yet. The one item that I haven’t liked as much is that when Dr Thyer provides statistics about chances she can deliver them very matter of factly. We appreciate the information but the blunt delivery style makes the information, which is already not as good of news as we would like, harder to hear. I would prefer these items be communicated in a softer way. But overall I have been happy with my treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Be sure to watch the videos they send to you detailing the IVF process. These are very informative but are not required for being seen at SRM. (They are at another clinic we checked out.) Be prepared to do some of your own research if your treatment ends up being outside the box like mine was. They have some info on embryo donation/adoption but it wasn’t provided to me until I asked.

Describe the protocols Angela Thyer used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
By the time we saw Dr Thyer we had already done many other things (natural times, Clomid, IUI, IUI combo cycle) and we went to her specifically to do IVF so there were no other treatment strategies proposed.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
My initial nurse wasn’t as helpful, but the nurse/coordinator assigned once I decided on embryo donation transfer has been great. She is very responsive to all my messages in the portal. Initially my experience wasn’t as good but it may have had to do with timing. The initial test results that showed my egg reserve was low were published to my portal the day before Thanksgiving and I didn’t have a lab appointment to review the details until the following month. (It can take awhile to get an appt with Dr a Thyer.) this information was naturally devastating to learn in this manner. Initially I tried to talk to my nurse but she wasn’t able to help. Finally I asked for just a quick call with Dr Thyer and was able to talk to her. So in general I would say commutation is good.

Describe Angela Thyer's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
Dr Thyer recommends single embryo transfer per cycle, but I know there are other doctors at the clinic who will do two embryos per cycle.

Dr Thayer strongly recommended a single embryo transfer for us given my age/likelihood of a good embryo, and to avoid the risk of multiples. She was also very patient with my many, many questions and changing preferences. Our experience as her patients was about as good as it can get! And importantly, her recommendations and medical work were successful for us. :)
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Come to appointments with your list of questions ready (do research in advance, when possible). I often came up with a handful of additional questions after leaving appointments that I wish I'd asked while I was with her. She does an excellent job explaining, but there's so much info and various options, and as a detail queen, I always found more to ask about. Great to prepare before your time with her, as her schedule is busy and she books out a ways.

Describe the protocols Angela Thyer used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We did one natural IUI cycle with a trigger shot in hopes that would help the sperm get to the egg, since we had great sperm count but low motility. Motility had improved slightly with vitamins and supplements, and then improved a bit more when they did the "wash" during the IUI. For IVF, she had me on Gonal-F (450 IU) and Menopur (75 IU) daily to stimulate egg growth, and then Cetrotide to postpone ovulation, followed by the HCG shot (5,000 IU) to trigger ovulation. These hormones worked for me to get to about 15 follicles, then 9 eggs retrieved, 8 of them mature, and 6 fertilized into embryos. this was a great result given my low AMH level.

We did PGD testing, she [Dr. Angela Thyer] strongly recommend just one to avoid multiple pregnancy...I started treatment after possible diagnose of PCOS. After all the blood test we discussed trying naturally and then slowly adding more intervention. She is really good explaining the possible outcomes and we loved that if we asked for % she always knew them. She remembered us and our case. The clinic works with an on called schedule, so she was not present for my egg retrieval or transfer but everyone at SRM is lovely.
Rebecca [nurse at Seattle Reproductive Medicine] is the best! She follow us all the process and was always taking care of me not just physically but mentally too. She was really good explaining us all the details regarding test and medications...We knew that during IVF drs are on rotation so there is a big chance that your dr wont be on call for egg retrieval or transfer...All the nurses are so nice!! I was not ready to leave the clinic when i got discharge.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
She was straight forward giving all the information that we needed in order to make the best decision for us. It was a long road for us: wrong diagnosis by another clinic, testing, IUI (2) and finally frozen egg retrieval for PGS testing and natural transfer. I was expecting the worst during IVF. She also did IVF so she knows what you are going through. Not many clinics offer natural transfer and I loved that she considered it an option. I was mostly in contact with her nurse, Rebecca, which I completely adored. She was constantly calling me and checkin how I was doing not just physically.

[Dr. Thyer] was typically conservative and tried to stear clear of multiples, for their and my health, but after 3 failed transfers, she left the decision up to us, which we appreciated...At times she was hard to get ahold of and it was rare that she was my actual treating physician...We mainly talked during follow up appointments and discussed next steps when previous treatments didn’t work. She is kind and compassionate, though with so many patients I’m not sure she recognized me for the first few months. Overall she’s a great doctor and I’ve been told by other, non affiliated healthcare professionals that she’s the best in the business.
[Seattle Reproductive Medicine is] a big clinic, so it was easy to feel like a number, but the doctors took their time and the nurses were really helpful, making me feel more like a cherished part of the team...Our nurse was top notch. She was an excellent communicator, gave prompt and empathetic responses to messages...They offer beverages while you wait and are fairly comfortable. There are several to choose from, with was beneficial. Scheduling could be frustrating, as appointment times fill up quickly. I found that I needed to bend my schedule around their availability (taking time off work, etc) because it was just too frustrating to try to make it work with the limited availablity. It’s nice that weekends were an option at the Seattle clinic. Scheduling, phlebotomist, and support staff at all the clinics were really great.

I really appreciate that Dr. Thayer isn’t pushy and allowed me to go at my own pace of treatment. She had good ideas and was careful to explain things in a way that the layman could understand. At times she was hard to get ahold of and it was rare that she was my actual treating physician. (It’s a very large clinic and they rotate clinical duties.) We mainly talked during follow up appointments and discussed next steps when previous treatments didn’t work. Ivf is really expensive, I’m not sure the exact number but it was definitely over $10,000 to start, then $3500 for each frozen embryo transfer cycle. Medication was separate, which would vary between $150-$4500, depending on needs. Additional screenings and tests were also out of pocket, usually between $500-$800 dollars a pop. It takes a lot of saving and years of patience to undergo ivf. It’s especially frustrating when you spend all that money and you still get negative results.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
We found her [Dr. Angela Thyer] to be personable, compassionate, educated, and realistic. Our 2nd (and most recent visit) she was again realistic about our chances (5-10%). She also said that she would recommend no more than 2 IUI cycles, as the chances of success greatly decrease after that. Although that puts a bit of personal pressure on me, I appreciated hearing that she wouldn't continue to push IUI cycles if it wasn't appropriate. The previous clinic we went to was adamant that we do a minimum of 6 months.
I like the different clinic locations [at Seattle Reproductive Med]...helps to be able to pick a location based on our schedule, traffic, etc. Ambiance is welcoming, particularly at the Bellevue office. I do not like that they don't validate parking at the Seattle office. Have to pay $10 every time. I have never felt pressured about money or bills.... Lindsey is WONDERFUL. Answers all my questions and coordinated a quick turnaround for getting my meds shipped correctly and in a timely manner. She has also consulted with Dr. Thyer if need be.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
We found her to be personable, compassionate, educated, and realistic. There were a few hiccups involving the calendar for treatment as well as the medications involved, but with the help of our nurse Lindsey, we got it all sorted out. Lindsey has been wonderful, responsive with emails, calls, and explains processes completely. I did notice several instructions on the paperwork we received that were not gone over in person with us...such as the recommendation to have sex every day or every other day, and instructions about when to use OPK's. So some of those details were not discussed, but in our situation we literally had 24hrs to get everything squared away, where I most patients have a bit more time to prepare.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Do not be afraid to ask lots of questions! Bringing in all of our paperwork from the previous clinic and previous bloodwork, semen analysis, etc. seemed to be really helpful to our initial consultation, so consider bringing that.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
After a highly traumatic experience with a previous clinic 2 yrs prior, we were referred to Dr. Thyer. We just started FSH shots and are hoping to do at least 2 IUI procedures. She has expressed the reality of the situation (in terms of success rates at our age and w/ our situation) but has given us hope that it IS possible, where I previously we were told IVF was the only option. She was very matter of fact that IUI would be her first option for us, and was very compassionate when I burst into tears upon hearing this news (happy tears). She answered all of our questions, and spent at least an hour with us. Again, she was realistic about our chances, but thoroughly explained why IUI would help us, and seemed confident in her knowledge. We just had our follow up earlier this week, and I just so happened to be at the beginning of my cycle. The ultrasound looked good, so here we go! I have started the shots, and our treatment plan is a bit "out of the box". I feel like she is giving us the best chance possible.
Describe the protocols Angela Thyer used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We are in process of our first controlled and medicated stimulation, with an IUI next week of all goes well. She suggested medicated IUI due to my age and to increase chances of conception by releasing multiple eggs per cycle. My husband had a vasectomy reversal and has a normal sperm count, but low motility and thick viscosity. She explained that the sperm is not able to reach the egg naturally due to these factors. IUI will at least give us the chance we haven't previously had. She also recommended supplements for my husband and I to take, which should assist with better egg quality and sperm motility.

Our insurance covers diagnostics but not meds and IUI. With our treatment plan, it will be approx. $1200 per cycle for medicated IUI (injections).

Nothing major, but just felt a bit rushed (because we started treatments the next day) so I think some things weren't thoroughly explained because of that.

I didn't really feel like she [Dr. Angela Thyer] was rooting for me. I was constantly advocating for myself. I did this by asking what I could do differently, asking for tests and trying to figure out why nothing was working and getting me pregnant...I'm one to always ask questions and find solutions. Without me constantly following up, I'm not sure that things would change with my protocol. I also asked for Blood work many times to try and get more answers...I did 6 IUI's. One natural cycle, one cycle with clomid. One cycle with Letrozole. 3 cycles with Gonal-f. No pregnancies...Be more compassionate and empathetic.
Each IUI [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine] was $500 plus the handling fee for sperm, $125. Bloodwork and ultrasounds billed to insurance. Other tests were also billed to insurance...This clinic is good about accommodating your schedule and getting you in when you need it. Wait time is short, nice patient waiting area with a view. They offer many services that not all patients are aware of such as support groups and counseling. There's always an on call doctor available if you have questions or concerns that come up outside of office hours...Sonographer/nurse doing ultrasound told me to take my trigger shot at a different time than the doctor had told me. If I hadn't spoken up and questioned It, the timing would have been off.

I felt that Dr. Thayer over-promised what I should expect. I was told that I would be pregnant by the "end of the year" during my January appointment. That did not happen and quite frankly I don't know how she could be so sure of this before I'd undergone the full array of testing. I believe I only actually met with her twice, but I recall leaving in tears every time...The first treatment strategy prescribed was a high dose of Femara and timed intercourse. After 4 rounds this did not result in a pregnancy. The side effects were so bad that I asked to have my dosage lowered, but was denied and only given the option of another drug.
A major weakness [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine] is the wait time to see the doctor once there. Several times I had appointments during my lunch hour and would end up sitting in the waiting room sometimes up to 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment. I felt like in general the doctors and staff were not always on the same page and I would sometimes get confused with another patient's treatment plan.

You should have thick skin which is sometimes very hard when dealing with such an emotional issue like infertility. Also do not expect to see her at every visit.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
During my visits with Dr. Thayer I found her to be rather cold. She was the first to diagnose me with PCOS and I was quite emotional after finding out that I had it. She didn't seem very warm with her delivery.

Dr. Thayer's case load was too high for her to handle. We would sit down with her and she didn't even remember our names and she would read our chart on who we were after we entered her office. She also encouraged me to waste sperm (limited amount, husband is cancer survivor) when I was actively nursing my first child. She said that nursing a baby did not affect fertility in any way. My new doctor at a different clinic was shocked that I was encouraged to do IUIs while actively nursing my toddler.
I worked with several nurses [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine], as turnover was high. Nurses made real mistakes on IUI timing, got confused over the difference between and opk and a pregnancy test, and we're unable to do the IUI procedure smoothly and got flustered and cried. I have email proof of nurses confusing me with other patients. They seemed overworked and miserable.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Working with Dr. Thayer and her nurses was an awful experience. She did not remember who I was the few times she saw me. She had us waste vials of sperm on IUI while I was still nursing my first child, and I felt sabotaged as an IUI patient so that I would opt for IVF. She forgot to make notes in my chart about what we talked about. She did not care if I got pregnant. She also dismissed our concerns about male factor infertility, saying we were lucky that we didn't have it as bad as some couples. Just not the way to handle it.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
You are in charge of your own care. Do not expect compassion from her. Know that she is in the business of maximizing profit from convincing patients to do IVF and she gets a bonus on her IVF conversion rate.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Rarely had face time with doctor. Nurses confused my case with others, couldn't keep the patients straight, and miscalculated treatments. Doctor did not make notes in my chart so the weekend doctor could prescribe medications on time. I felt actively sabotaged in my IUI cycle, though I have no proof. I believe that as an IUI patient, I was treated as a throwaway low value patient and was not listened to. My complaints and he humiliation was endless. I switched doctors and clinics and am now treated like a human. Dr. Thayer's case load was too high for her to handle. We would sit down with her and she didn't even remember our names and she would read our chart on who we were after we entered her office. Describe your experience with Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
The front desk receptionist is the only thing good about this awful clinic. Patients should know that staff has zero respect for temperature charting. My nurse insisted that I come in for an IUI a day later than I knew I should. I insisted on doing it my way, and had a healthy baby. Whenever I trusted the clinic on timing, it failed. Also, once I told a Nurse, "is it too late to do IUI? I think I already ovulated." She said, "you wouldn't know If you did." Never mind that there is a German word for the feeling of ovulation and that I was temperature charting and knew my body very well! They just do not listen at this clinic and they treat you like a number. I switched clinics and I know that it is much better in other places.

She [Dr. Angela Thyer] is confident in her abilities and absolutely knows the latest in fertility treatments (at least for my issue of rpl). She can be straightforward that some might think of as uncompassionate but I appreciate the clear communication in an area that can be so murky. She is responsive to my stress levels and emotions and I absolutely feel taken care of when she is doing a procedure on me.
The primary nurse [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine] is probably overworked as she often forgets details of my case. However I find her very responsive and she always makes sure to answer my questions to my satisfaction...I've had issues with the financial office not appropriately billing our insurance (my condition is not considered to be infertility so it is covered by all health insurance companies.).

I've had to hysterscopies to remove scarring after a miscarriage---one of which was a fairly experimental approach (my body was not naturally passing the miscarriage so this was done instead of a d&c). She absolutely had my best interests at heart. We are now doing timed cycles with letrozole and gonal f.

she [Dr. Angela Thyer] had a preference on multiple vs single [embryo transfers] to help higher chances of success...very professional, but dispassionate...She had a lot of knowledge but did not always give you the full picture or details of what was going on. She sometimes was a little impatient in her consults inspite of the fact that I had been under her care for 2 years...will gloss over some of the info if she thinks you dont need to know.
Billing was a nightmare [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine], and their financial counsellors often give you wrong estimates of procedure charges. they have a strong panel of Drs -I especially liked Dr Klein, Dr Shah and Dr Gerard lettery. She [Dr. Angela Thyer] is great at explaining the process and the body. She has less of the “warm” bedside manner than other doctors...I didn’t see much of doctor Thyer during my treatment. I often was told, “you’re young, you’ll get pregnant before our other location opens”...only met with her twice in six months of treatment...Dr. Thyer was not quite as aggressive, but I still have not had luck and wish to continue with IVF.
[Nurse] Jenna was great. She was one if the main reasons I stayed so long. I was even hesitant to leave because of her. She was extremely compassionate and would always be prompt in answering my questions by phone call or portal message...This always falls into a lack of communication at times with test results and waiting until you call them [Seattle Reproductive Medicine clinic] on a few occasions.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
I didn’t see much of doctor Thyer during my treatment. I often was told, “you’re young, you’ll get pregnant before our other location opens.” The new location opened and I have now been seeing a new doctor who has been very aggressive with treatments. Dr. Thyer was not quite as aggressive, but I still have not had luck and wish to continue with IVF.

Describe your experience with Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
The finance dept (other than Lynette at Everett location) needs work. Often they are scattered and disorganized with letting patients now the cost of treatments until AFTER a procedure is complete. The clinic has a calm atmosphere. I feel that they could have a few more resources or possibly even a social worker than can help them navigate different options such as: adoption, support groups, grants, fundraiser options etc. it may be beneficial for the company to partner with someone to help acquire more grants.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
Everything was an out of pocket cost. Whether this was blood work, exams, ultrasounds, medications and diagnostic testing.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
I have had a wrong prescription called into a pharmacy, as well as waiting until over the weekend to fill a prescription. This always falls into a lack of communication at times with test results and waiting until you call them on a few occasions.

Due to the pandemic we only saw each other via zoom or phone, but she [Dr. Angela Thyer] always made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. I had PCOS diagnosed prior to seeing her and she helped me understand what I could do medically and holistically to treat. Plus we got pregnant quickly under her care...The treatment was individual. Everything was fully explained.
The team at SRM Kirkland was the best, most efficient nursing staff I have ever gone to. They were amazing! You have to go through a lot of testing and appointments with fertility treatment and they made it as quick and seamless as possible. Wish I could go to them my entire pregnancy!...The most difficult part is finding a parking spot in the garage. I never waited more than 2 minutes in the waiting room, for blood testing, and ultrasound, etc.

Dr. Thayer was very friendly and a good communicator. She did explain things well and educated us on the process. We do wish she would have adjusted our iui protocols more to maybe see better results such as adjusting medications etc...The protocol used were taking Letrozole for 5 days. Then ultrasound on day 10-12. Then trigger shot 36 hours before iui.
[nurse of Seattle Reproductive Medicine] She was friendly and a good communicator and got right back to us if we had a question...$350 for consultation and $650 for iui, plus medications...Dr. Thayer was very friendly and a good communicator. Dr Thyer came across as a compassionate person who genuinely cared about our fertility needs. She was always realistic in explaining our options to us. Under her care we were able to get 5 healthy embryos in our first IVF cycle...She has made herself available in my evaluation in more than one occasion and has guided me closely throughout my IVF journey
[the nurses are] Very approachable and caring person. Always ready to help and great in communicating my next steps. Always reached out to check in on me in stressful times...Very happy with the care provided by SRM. Multiple locations made it easy for me to handle my appointments. Staff always welcoming. Never had to wait long for any appointment. They handled Covid related precautions very well and continued to provide care in difficult times.

My experience with Doctor Thyer was tremendous. Even though my IUI Cycles were unsuccessful, I never lost hope. She held my hand through the whole experience. Always encouraging me, and looking for new ways to become successful with my next cycle. I finally told her I wanted to try IVF, and we went for it. It was very emotional, and she was sensitive to my needs and emotions. I was in my late 30s when I started the whole process, and was 40 when I became pregnant (the best day of my life) through IVF with a fresh transfer of two embryos on my second egg retrieval of a 3 egg retrieval package.
I spent close to $1,500 each time I did an IUI [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine]. This included the cost of the donor sperm, the medications, and the SRM treatment...The Bellevue Clinic is where I mostly went to for my treatments. I also visited the Kirkland and Seattle clinics. The only thing I would change about any of them is the Seattle Clinic, parking is a real hassle! But other than that, there's nothing I would change...

I had a healthy baby girl on March 2nd 2018. I still have one frozen embryo from my first aid retrieval and I plan to implant that one this July. I would use my grant money to pay for my fertility treatments. What a gift that would be if I won! I can't thank Angela Thyer enough for making my dream come true. She is amazing.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Be patient with yourself. And follow Dr Thyer's instructions to a T. But mostly just be patient....and never give up.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
She was compassionate and talked me through the emotions and expectations of fertility treatments.
Describe the protocols Angela Thyer used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I don't remember the exact dosages, especially because each cycle we changed something to see if it would work. But the instructions Dr. Thyer gave me each time we changed something up, we're very specific and easy to follow.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
All the nursing staff and admin staff are amazing! I can't say enough great things about all of them. Very professional, kind, and helpful.

I spent close to $1,500 each time I did an IUI. This included the cost of the donor sperm, the medications, and the SRM treatment cos. I spent close to $10,000 total on IU eyes, which were unsuccessful. I decided to try IVF, and the package I went with was $18,000. It was 3 egg retrievals, with one frozen transfer at the end. I changed it in the middle of this process, because there were two healthy embryos after the second egg retrieval, which I asked doctor fire if I could just implant those because I didn't want to wait. We switched it up, and the cost of that changed the cost of the package. In total, I have spent close to $30,000 with SRM, Seattle Sperm Bank, and that fertility Pharmacy I ordered my medication from.
Describe Angela Thyer's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic).
I imagine that her approach with each person is different. But her approach with me was to do the most logical thing at the time. I didn't want to just put one embryo in, and I was okay with having multiples. So we put two embryos in and I'm glad I did. One attached to my uterus, and the other one passed. I have one baby, but I could have had zero. So I'm glad we did it that way. Her approach with someone else might be different based on age or how many times they have tried.

I didn't want to hear that I needed to lose weight, but she [Dr. Angela Thyer] explained how important it was for the safety of my health and the chances of success. I wish she was available for every visit and that she was available for every procedure, but I also understood that every cycle is different and timing didn't always coincide with Dr. Thyers hours at the clinic...did not just throw treatment options out or make me feel like my only hope was a very expensive treatment....she knew exavctly what my body needed to be successful.
Very comfortable and supportive clinics [Seattle Reproductive Medicine]. I've been to all 3. Staff was very professional and friendly. Only weaknesses would be some of the nurses that drew blood or checked you in were unable to answer some questions...Anne [nurse] was quick to answer questions and never seemed bothered by the number of calls or emails I sent her...we chose the option to pay for 3 cycles and if we didn't bring a baby home we would get 75% of our $ back.

Dr. Thyer always took the time to return direct email, she shared in the excitement with us, she was very very supportive and honest with us. She also was eager to meet our babies and took interest in our family after treatment. We were treated as if we were the only people she was treating.

She [Dr. Angela Thyer] is very honest and forward, she will not sugarcoat...When I had my ectopic pregnancy after my first transfer she was very empathetic. She showed genuine concern and care...Initially we started with just putting me on thyroid medication and acupuncture...After about 3 yrs of trying unsuccessfully we decided to finally take the next sep of IVF. our protocol was pretty straightforward, I was given a calendar to follow with which medications I should take.
I mainly communicated via the portal with my nurse [of Seattle Reproductive Medicine]. She was very responsive and answered my questions quickly and thoroughly...All appointments such as retrivals and embryo transfers are done in Seattle which is great that the clinic is open on the weekends but can be stressful during the week due to the traffic of that area.
How was your experience with Angela Thyer at Seattle Reproductive Medicine (Pinnacle Network clinic)?
Initially Dr Thyer seemed very business oriented only and was not very warm. As I have gotten to know her over the years she has become very supportive and warm. With each step of our fertility journey I feel she became more receptive and empathetic.

Our first couple cycles [with Dr. Thyer] we just did Letrozole. After 2 failed rounds we met with her again and then started injections. She was very specific about all the potential risks and what exactly we would be doing and why the medications we were going to be taking would help us...While I have dealt more one on one with the nurses during my visits every time I had a question she was quick to get back to my nurse. The few appointments we have had with her, she was so friendly and compassionate. She had always reviewed our charts before we got there so there was no question what we were there for. She had a plan set for what our next steps were.
The atmosphere of SRM is very welcoming. It is very quiet and calming even when there are so many people there. The gals at the front desk are always so friendly and the ultrasound techs have all been great and so professional! Very happy with every person I have interacted with...Rebecca [nurse] has been amazing for the last year and a half. She is more like a friend that you can easily talk to. She has always been so quick to respond to any email.
