My care with Dr. Propst has been a mix. Sometimes you can feel like just another patient, but I’ve never felt like he was incompetent or didn’t want me to succeed. He’s not overly “warm” and at first when all of this was new, that was hard at times. The longer I’ve been TTC, the more I’ve realized his style works for me, as he’s straight forward but willing to pause and answer any questions....
There seem to be a lot of members of the nursing staff [at Texas Fertility Center] so I don’t deal with the same nurse regularly. Especially since Dr. Propst sees patients at two locations. Checking out after an exam and getting information/lab slips can be a little less organized at times, but when you call (usually you leave a message and they will call you back the same day), they are a bit more prepared. Overall it’s been fine, and I’ve never had trouble getting a call back or connecting with the on call nurse if needed.
How was your experience with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Propst is former military, so he can be a bit direct at times, but it’s not rude. During the start of my treatments, I was definitely overwhelmed by it all and sometimes the directness felt like lack of compassion. If I hadn’t felt like he was competent, I might have wanted to switch doctors if as I’ve had more time to process my infertility and treatments, I’ve realized his style is just right for me. Could he be a bit warmer? Sure, but he’s not my therapist and I’d rather have someone focused on my outcomes than coddling me. It did take some time for me to grow too and realize that no matter which doctor I have, I have to be my own advocate in speaking up for myself. Dr. Propst has always been willing to answer my questions, and we’ve discussed how we will adjust treatment as we prepare for an upcoming IVF cycle.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
You are your best advocate. Don’t be afraid to have a list of questions for your visit and tell him when he comes in the room that you have questions you’d like ask after the exam. Also, if you don’t already have a therapist, get one. It’s helped my confidence in this already difficult time.

Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Overall, we did 3 IUI cycles with Dr. Propst so far (we’re moving in to IVF now). The first cycle was with clomid and no trigger shot was needed. It ended in a negative pregnancy test/blood work. The next IUI cycle was with clomid but since we’d missed ovulation the previous cycle (there was a 2-3 cycle gap between my first IUI and second one due to cysts, holidays, and missed ovulation), we did use a trigger shot. This one also ended in a negative test/blood work. For the third IUI, which was the cycle immediately following the second, we did do a medicated cycle. I can’t recall the exact medications but I had to do shots in my lower stomach for about two weeks, the we used a trigger shot this cycle as well. I believe I ended up with 3 mature follicles. This round also ended in a negative test/blood work. After this, my husband and I decided to take a break and have recently picked back up to begin IVF treatments. We are on track to begin the retrieval cycle with my next cycle start.

Describe your experience with Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Strengths - Knowledgable and experienced doctors. - Get you in and out in a timely manner (for the most part, at least with Dr. Propst). - Multiple locations so if you need a same day or next day appointment and your doctor is out or not available, they can usually get you in with another doctor. Weaknesses - Unusual to catch someone live in the phone. Usually you leave a message and get a call back within an hour or so. I would say this is a pro and a con, as the nurse that calls back can be prepared with your charts up and have an idea of why you were calling so they are more prepared. - Sometimes can feel like you’re in and out so quickly so you have to be proactive in speaking up if you have questions. Not always the case though.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
We are fortunate to have some coverage under my husband. We never had issues with billing on our end, and out of pocket costs were minimal for our IUI cycles. We are in the early stages of preparing for our IVF retrieval cycle, so I’m sure costs will be more of a factor this time around. I believe each ultrasound visit was around $220 before insurance, and medications totaled around $1000-1500 before insurance. Each trigger shot was out of pocket and was about $200 apiece. I can’t recall what the actual IUI insemination costs were at the moment.

anytime I had questions or concerns, he [Dr. Propst] had an answer. I never once felt unheard...when it came time for my retrieval he made sure I knew that everything would be fine...He always tells you next steps and I never once felt out of the loop...He does move fast so if you have any questions, ask as soon as you can...
sometimes your appointment may not start on time [at Texas Fertility Center]. So make sure you have time to spare when scheduling. Just remember things happen so don’t get too overwhelmed if it starts a few mins late. Also, calling seems like it sucks because you have to leave a voicemail but this clinic is super popular and busy so it is expected. They will give numbers for emergencies so you’ll have a direct line in case...
How was your experience with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Ahh where do I start? I went to see him in July for a consultation. It was smooth sailing. I told him what I wanted and we went from there. He knows what he’s looking for so it was easy to trust him and listen. Every appointment I was happy to see him and see the progress I was making. I when it came time for my retrieval he made sure I knew that everything would be fine and it was. Then for my transfer, same thing. He always tells you next steps and I never once felt out of the loop! 10/10 would recommend.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I felt like a human because anytime I had questions or concerns, he had an answer. I never once felt unheard.
Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I chose IVF since I’ll be a single mother by choice. I wanted to make sure that my future babies had the same donor. Before my consultation, I already had this planned out so it was easy to let Dr. Propst know. Once he did a ultrasound, he did let me know that I’d be a good candidate for IVF. I started a month later! I started on Menopur and Gonal F until it was close to my trigger date then I started cetrotide. Once he saw that I was ready for retrieval, I did my trigger shot. A month After retrieval, I started to prep for my frozen transfer. During that time, I started estradiol. 5 days before transfer, I started endometrin vaginal inserts and progesterone shots. All those continue after transfer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The nursing staff is pretty amazing. Every single one always sound so happy when calling and they always have information handy so if you have questions you can ask. If they don’t know, you’ll get an answer quickly whether they call back or email you.

Monitoring appointments were cool. I didn’t mind them because it was a quick peek and then I’m driving home with next instructions.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I have fertility insurance so I didn’t have to pay nearly as much. I saw the bills on my insurance claims and so far it is at $30,000.

He [Dr. Propst] is a warm doctor with good bedside manner, but he is very busy! As soon as he's done seeing you, he's right out the door to the next patient. ... He definitely listens and takes into consideration what you have to say. ... With that info he decided, to just go with injectables only and no femara (I started femara with my OBGYN and continued it with Dr. Propst) to hopefully maximize my chances
There's several locations [Texas Fertility Center] which is great since Austin traffic is horrible. Also, they use CPL for labs which is also convenient as they have a lot of locations. There's no online patient portal or way to email them which can be frustrating. Hopefully they will transition to that one day. Also, my insurance doesn't cover anything related to infertility so it's been a costly process. The injectable medications have been expensive, but I also haven't done any rx shopping due to time constraints with knowing what med to take and when.

He is a warm doctor with good bedside manner, but he is very busy! As soon as he's done seeing you, he's right out the door to the next patient. Luckily he sees patients ar 2 different locations. He definitely listens and takes into consideration what you have to say. When trying to decide on how to proceed with my next treatment (I've done 2 IUIs-only 1 with injectables), I told him that this would probably be my last IUI attempt. With that info he decided, to just go with injectables only and no femara (I started femara with my OBGYN and continued it with Dr. Propst) to hopefully maximize my chances
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Just go with your questions! He will answer them all. I didn't know what to ask in the beginning and I regret not doing more research before our consultation
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He always came in with a smile and greeted me asking how I was doing instead of just jumping right to business
Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I "probably" have PCOS per both my OBGYN and Dr. Propst. I have irregular cycles but no cycsts on the ultrasound. I have been using femara (started with just taking this pill with my OB) for about 5 months and then went to see an RE. Our first IUI was right after our consultation since it was near the right timing of my cycle. All I used was an hcg trigger shot which resulted in a negative pregnancy test. The next round was femara, gonal f injections and an hcg trigger shot with inseminations on back to back days since he was unsure of my ovulation. This also resulted in a negative pregnancy test. I am about to start my 3rd round in which we are NOT using femara but just a gonal f injection and hcg trigger shot. So we'll see what happens!
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The nurses are very sweet, but coming out of your appointment, they sometimes assume you understand everything. Ask about meds, timing, next appt, etc if you have questions! They're happy to help. Also, it's hard to get a hold of them. You always have to call and leave a message. They get back to you fairly quickly, but I've never once called and got to talk directly to a nurse on that phone call

Describe the costs associated with your care under Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The initial consultation is around $600 and each ultrasound is $220. You do an ultrasound at the start of your cycle and several times throughout to see how your ovaries are progressing. My medications have ranged from $400-800 and they do use a pharmacy that overnights them to you (not sure if this is built into the cost since again I didn't do any price shopping).

Dr. Prospt [Propst] is very educated and you can tell he has a lot of experience. He was able to diagnose my rate genetic birth anomaly in our first visit. I do think he lacks more of the bedside manner that I like to see in doctors. He was quick to give one option only and he seems uncomfortable if the patient cries. When I cried, he handed me a tissue and left the room, whereas the nurse tried to console me and offer help.
There is some confusion amongst staff [Texas Fertility Ctr] in regards to what they will charge. For a new patient appointment, some will say to coordinate it with your baseline ultrasound so that you don’t pay double the fee (consult and ultrasound), but you may be asked to pay that when you arrive because not everyone is on the same page. Also, as you could expect, plan ahead because appointments fill up quickly.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I enjoyed my initial consultation and felt that he truly cared about helping us have a baby. I was diagnosed with a unicornuate uterus during that consultation. When I went in for my follicle scan, the IUI was canceled and I was out hundreds of dollars because the follicle was on the wrong side. I began crying and Dr. Propst handed me a tissue and was quick to leave the room, concluding my apppintment.
Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We were told to take clomid and do IUI. I was not given any other option. I asked if we could try a cycle of clomid and a trigger shot first and he said it wouldn’t make sense because I already ovulate.

I described this a few pages back, but I postponed my appointment for a few months to coordinate it with my cycle. A consult is $220 and an ultrasound is $220 so I was told if I coordinated it just right, I would only have to pay $220 and not $440 for the first visit. I finally was able to coordinate it and was asked to pay $440 still. I did explain that I had been talking to someone there and the reason I delayed it for a few months so they wrote the $220 off.

During the weekends there are different staff and I have had complications happen on the weekend where no one could find file to be able to help me properly so my doctor was called to help figure things out. Also during that desperate time I was waiting for results for over 6 hours when I was told I would get results in2 to 3 hours and when I called the after hours nurse she had no idea what was going on. The previous nurse forget got to leave my information for her to go over and call me.

During our initial consultation, we had a lot of questions due to 3 failed cycles with another clinic. He was able to answer all of our questions and propose a plan for our future cycle. Also recommended additional supplement (DHEA) and increasing CoQ10 dosage.... Dr. Propst is extremely intelligent and knows the evidence behind the treatment. Based on the way that our cycle was going, he changed the plan from frozen to fresh embryo transfer hopefully for a better outcome. He explained the reasoning behind all of his decisions and engaged us in the decision making process. I

Antagonist protocol with cetrotide. Started with 2 days of clomid to jump start the ovaries and then high doses of Gonal F and menopur as well as omnitrope.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
IVF nurse/coordinator handles every aspect of your cycle. It depends on whether you like this or not. At my previous clinic, after the ultrasound my doctor would go to her computer and put in the plan on the spreadsheet and print it out and hand it to me. At Texas Fertility Center, once the doctor leaves the room you are mostly communicating with the nurse.
Describe your experience with Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Because there are so many doctors, you will most likely not see your doctor on the weekend since they rotate call schedules. Also, there is no in house lab. On the weekend you will have to go to St. David's Main before 8AM to have labs drawn and then on other days you can go to any CPL before 8AM. Also, most of the communication is between you and your IVF nurse. At my previous clinic, I spoke to the doctor directly about everything. It just depends on how important that is to you. Strengths - nurses are very knowledgeable and can answer a lot of the questions. Well oiled machine with people doing specific jobs. The process was very streamlined. ***our longest wait time was less than 5 minutes*** I cannot even explain how much of my life I have regained from this!!! Weaknesses - because there are many people involved in the process, each person doing a specific job, things can get dropped along the way. I was told that someone would call me about ordering my meds before the start of the cycle, but I did not and decided to call on my own and they seemed to be surprised by my phone call (even though it was 2-3 days before I would need to start meds).
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Excluding medications, the cost is about 8k without insurance because they give you a 50% discount on the ultrasounds and egg retrieval (for TFC's part). There is still a fee for the egg retrieval that is charged by the surgery center. The 8k includes the fees paid to their lab (around 4k). Relatively affordable for someone who has used up insurance benefits.

Dr. Propst is very kind, gentle, and has made an effort to keep us from spending as little as possible. He obviously cares about people. His approach is more slow and steady and he seems to start with the minimum and build from there rather than bombard you with tons of tests and hardcore medication.... I completely trust his expertise however sometimes I wish he would tell me what he's thinking. He's not a big talker, but he provides the necessary information without conveying false hope or over confidence.
It's [Texas Fertility Center] not a big fancy brand new office which I prefer. It's smaller and more laid back and doesn't look like a money grab. They try very hard to help to get your insurance to cover anything they can.i have never felt any pressure to spend money there. They are very straight forward about cost and there have not been any surprise or hidden costs. You are assigned your own nurse you can call anytime, and there is another very nice nurse on call on weekends and evenings.
How was your experience with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Propst is pretty straight forward and sometimes a bit serious. I completely trust his expertise however sometimes I wish he would tell me what he's thinking. He's not a big talker, but he provides the necessary information without conveying false hope or over confidence. He is realistic and somewhat optimistic. He has a very good bedside manner and makes me feel at ease. He is patient and does not start with the most drastic testing and protocol. He is very very evidence based and black and white, very intelligent and not airy fairy at all.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He may seem serious but he's very caring. He's not going to talk your ear off so if you have concerns or questions you have to ask.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I brought Dr. Propst an ultrasound during my first appointment which showed a possible fibroid. Since all my labs and my husband's S.A. came back normal he recommended laparoscopic surgery for me. He suspected endometriosis, wanted to clean out any growths, and would so the dye test on my tubes without having to put me through an HSG. The surgery was smooth, I had no issues with recovery, and had no complications. Unfortunately I still did not get pregnant after surgery. My next step was IUI with clomid. My first cycle was unsuccessful so I'm probably going to complete 1 or 2 more IUI cycles before moving to IVF.

My IUI cycle was just under $1000. Each step was paid separately at the time of completion. Prices were very fair.

Dr. Propst was matter of fact about treatment and options but he still would talk to me about how other things in my life like school and work were going. When I tried to ease my anxiety with humor, he would laugh and joke with me. He was considerate of my discomfort during uncomfortable procedures.... I was having financial issues and he did everything he could to get me donated medications or lower my costs. He was an expert in the issue I was having and I trusted him completely.
It [Texas Fertility Center] is a very large practice so sometimes I would see different staff members st every visit. I would have liked a smaller, more personal feel but at a large clinic it is easier to get appointments and see people last minute.... There was a time that I really wanted to leave the clinic because the person handling my medication order made a huge mistake and almost cost me thousands of dollars. The technicians that I saw during my regular visits were always friendly and courteous but they didn’t seem to remember me from one visit too the next
How was your experience with Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Propst was my favorite person at the clinic. I was having financial issues and he did everything he could to get me donated medications or lower my costs. He was an expert in the issue I was having and I trusted him completely.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He’s very matter of fact so expect the truth even if it might not be what you want to hear. But he’s southern so he says it in a compassionate way.

Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
5 cycles of letrozole plus injectibles, one cycle of full injectibles, one ivf cycle. After ovulating early, he added another medication to prevent that. Ovidril trigger was used in all seven cycles. First cycle was negative, second was a miscarriage and Dr. Propst performed my D&C. Third cycle was negative. Fourth cycle I ovulated early. Fifth cycle after an adjustment was negative. Sixth cycle was a chemical pregnancy. Seventh cycle was ivf that yielded no usable embryos. Eighth cycle was my son.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Kimberley)
I did not have a great experience with the nursing staff. At one point I was sure that the nurses treated me differently because I am Latina and I didn’t have a lot of money. This was maninly someone trying to arrange my medication during an ivf cycle. I don’t remember her name. My ivf nurse was different from my first nurse Kimberley and when I went back to iui, Kimberley had left and I got someone different and she was fine. There was a time that I really wanted to leave the clinic because the person handling my medication order made a huge mistake and almost cost me thousands of dollars. The technicians that I saw during my regular visits were always friendly and courteous but they didn’t seem to remember me from one visit too the next, maybe because the clinic was too big.
Describe your experience with Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).

Describe the costs associated with your care under Anthony Propst at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
It was really expensive, my insurance didn’t cover anything, I used credit cards to pay, and I’m still in debt up to my ears. Total cost was about $45k
What specific things went wrong at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost paperwork
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Someone gave the pharmacy the wrong phone number for me and I almost didn’t get my medication when I was supposed to. If I hadn’t googled the pharmacy myself and called them to find out what was going on, I might not have gotten my medication. The staff member at the clinic who made the mistake didn’t think it was a big deal but and never admitted her mistake but it could have been devastating.

He’s [Dr. Propst] very compassionate with a professional and comfortable bedside manner. He’s extremely knowledgeable and very helpful in finding the right plan that he thinks will best work for you. He will work with you in regards to what you want, timelines, and even a little based on cost. I truly felt he wanted to help his patients and not just doing it for the paycheck...He was very personable and relatable and I felt he truly cared. Several times he actually called me directly rather than having a nurse do it.
I think they [Texas Fertility Center] are very knowledgeable and have very quality and qualified doctors that are all great and help out each other when needed. They research and offer classes to help patients regularly. They’re located throughout the city (and state) and easy to get quick appts. The only weakness, although not specific to them I imagine is the cost. Without having insurance coverage, it is super expensive!...Be patient and trust they know what they are doing.

I would say this to any patient, not just his. But just because you hear of success doesn’t mean you will get it immediately. Be patient and trust they know what they are doing. Also just because a+b+c worked for you friend, doesn’t mean it will for you. Each diagnosis and treatment is different and therefore may have a different treatment.

Describe the protocols Anthony Propst used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I used various things depending on which cycle. I know in the beginning I was doing injections with follistim and timed intercourse. Then moved onto an egg retrieval cycle with follistim and menopur. Also using ganirelix and ovidrel for the trigger. For most of the cycles I used crinone progesterone. The last (successful) one I used progesterone in oil.

Dr. Propst is a very caring and knowledgeable doctor. He has the exact amount of warmth paired with facts and reality... Super knowledgeable. His experience left us feeling like we made the best decision possible in this journey by making him our primary fertility physician. He always provides all of the facts and risks in a caring manner.... we began with around of clomid IUI. Knowing the low probability we did not anticipate much and we did get a negative test but it was a starting place for our process. next we are going to injectable IUI.
Be prepared to start your journey and move forward at the pace you want. They [Texas Fertility Center] will work with you at your pace. There is absolutely no pressure. They will fill you full of information and options. The next steps are the patients to take based on where they are emotionally and financially.... Everyone in the staff has been wonderful in making sure we are comfortable and bending over backwards to make sure we understand all of our options.

He [Dr. Anthony Propst] was willing to answer all questions and asked how we wanted to go about cycle one.Treated us like any other couple and never made us feel less than. Stayed positive throughout and when he realized clomid did not work, he was quick to prescribe something stronger. His staff is amazing and always answer any questions I have no matter time or date.
Nursing staff [at Texas Fertility Center-Round Rock] was amazing and we loved ur nurse Shannon. Always emailed or called me back with any questions or concerns I had.... I started with clomid 50mg and that was because I asked to go the medicated way. Went in for ultrasound and saw it was not working and he switched me to femara 100mg and came back a week later to find three good sized eggs. Came back the next day for iui.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
He just took awhile to warm up too. Once he did though he has been great....Dr. Propst was very good about not moving on to new treatments too quickly but also pushing us to move on when he thought it was best. We have slowly moved through each of our cycles. A few clomid cycles, Clomid with IUI, hybrid with IUI, Injections with IUI (which resulted in pregnancy), and we are currently in another infection cycle with IUI. It as been a steady progression not a rushed progression.

It as been a steady progression not a rushed progression.

[Dr. Anthony Propst] was nice and knowledgeable. I felt like I was in capable hands. he answers all questions very matter of factly but doesn’t come off cold. The thing that stands out most to be is I felt safe under his care...This man is action oriented, don’t see if just to see if this is something you might want to consider, he works best with people who alway know they want a baby...Made me hopeful
[Texas Fertility Center] Strengths: nice, friendly, clean, doctors seem knowledgeable. Seen quickly after check in. Waiting area is pleasant at the round rock location. Doctor is personable. Weakness: expensive, can hit you with a high bill without warning, for me it was a long drive for appointments...[nursing staff] really care about your personal fertility journey....200 for a visit 800 for ultrasound...

Successful
He [Dr. Anthony Propst] took the time to get to know us and what our expectation were in regards to fertility treatment. He did not pressure us in any way to do treatment that we weren't comfortable with. He listened to our concerns...He is very caring and very knowledge in what he does. He has compassion for those going through the treatment process. He helped me through the hard times and the good times. He was always there when I needed a question or concern addressed.
After clomid did not work, we tried one IUI [at Texas Fertility Center]. We were on a time crunch since we were moving overseas due to a military assignment. After the IUI was unsuccessful, we moved right for IVF which produced 3 five 5 embryos which results in a successful fresh transfer, a frozen transfer that ended in a miscarriage and one frozen transfer that was a success.
