I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Anupama Kathiresan...felt like I was just another number...just meet with you once or twice over zoom for the whole process...never even saw her in person...told me it was basically impossible to get pregnant naturally with my AMH levels
[The Kindbody - Los Angeles] nursing staff was compassionate...They would even discuss how many follicles other patients had...provided me with conflicting information about when and how to take certain drugs...financial aspect was just one of many frustrations...lack of coordination and communication
How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Anupama Kathiresan. From the very beginning, I felt like I was just another number to her, rather than an individual with unique needs and concerns. The entire process felt like a farm, lacking the personal touch and care that is crucial in such a sensitive and significant journey. When I would insist on phone calls to gain better understanding, she made it pretty clear how inconvenient it was for her since she's hoping to just meet with you once or twice over zoom for the whole process (the nurses take care of the everything else).
Throughout my treatment, I never even saw her in person. This lack of face-to-face interaction made me feel disconnected and uncertain about the care I was receiving. It became clear to me that she was more focused on getting money out of me than providing genuine care and support.
She even told me it was basically impossible to get pregnant naturally with my AMH levels, but three other fertility experts have pointed me to studies that say otherwise (I went to see other experts because I frankly could no longer trust her). I am convinced the only reason she told me that was to scare me into doing more fertility treatments. This kind of manipulation is unethical and deeply troubling.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I'd honeslty suggest not seeing her at all. She is clearly not passionate about making sure patients have a good experience and is just making sure she spends as little time with the patient as possible.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Throughout my treatment, I never saw my doctor in person, which contributed to a feeling of disconnection and uncertainty about the care I was receiving. The absence of face-to-face interaction made it difficult to establish a personal connection and trust with my healthcare provider. Instead of feeling like a valued patient, I felt like just another case number in their system. This impersonal approach led me to believe that their primary focus was on extracting money from me rather than offering genuine care and support. The experience left me feeling undervalued and more like a revenue source than a patient in need of compassionate and personalized medical attention.
Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
I inquired about other protocols because I had started doing my own research, as it felt like the information I was getting from her was superficial. When I asked why we were following one protocol over another, she simply responded that it was the most common one. In hindsight, I should have walked away at that point. It was evident that she didn't consider my specific situation before choosing a protocol and was likely just defaulting to what she was most familiar with.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The nursing staff was compassionate, but each visit I had a different nurse who seemed unprepared for my situation. They would even discuss how many follicles other patients had, which only added to my stress since I had fewer follicles than average. While I appreciated the nurses' kindness, the experience felt disorganized, and I felt like just another number because no one seemed informed about my specific case.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The clinic's billing department is a mess, and I am still receiving bills to this day. Trying to get in touch with them is a nightmare; you are routed multiple times to different people before finally reaching the billing department, only to leave a message that is never returned. This leaves you with bills you don't understand, arriving almost 1.5 years after paying over $10,000.
The clinic frequently redirects you to new individuals or departments for specific questions, making it feel like a constant runaround. No one seems willing to sit down with you to answer all of your questions comprehensively. This lack of coordination and communication adds to the frustration and stress of an already challenging process.
I deeply regret choosing this clinic. I was fooled by their marketing and should have known better than to entrust such an important medical procedure to a place that rushes patients in and out, leaving them feeling like an inconvenience. Instead, I should have sought out a clinic that prioritizes patient comfort and ensures all questions are answered thoroughly even if that meant I'd need to pay a little more.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
I could not attend monitoring appointments at times that were convenient for me; instead, I had to work around their rigid schedule. This added a significant amount of stress to an already difficult process. It became increasingly clear that the clinic's definition of "success" was not focused on achieving the best outcomes for each patient. Rather, their priority seemed to be getting people in and out quickly, merely checking off boxes to show they had completed necessary steps.
This impersonal and rushed approach made me feel like just another number in their system, and I genuinely believe that the decisions made during my treatment likely had a negative impact on my egg freezing process. The lack of flexibility and personal attention was deeply disappointing.
In hindsight, I truly wish I had chosen a clinic that emphasized a personal touch and patient-centered care. A clinic that values the individual needs and circumstances of its patients would have provided a much more supportive and effective environment for such a critical and sensitive procedure. The experience has left me with significant regret and a strong sense that I should have sought care from a place that genuinely prioritizes patient outcomes over procedural efficiency.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The costs for my treatment at the clinic exceeded $10,000, but looking back, I would have gladly gone elsewhere and paid even more to receive better treatment. The financial aspect was just one of many frustrations. Despite the substantial amount I paid, I continue to receive unexpected bills long after the treatment was completed, adding to the stress and dissatisfaction of my overall experience.
The recurring and delayed billing issues are indicative of the disorganization and lack of transparency at the clinic. Knowing what I know now, I would have preferred to invest in a clinic that offers superior care, clear communication, and a more personalized approach. The peace of mind and higher quality of care would have been worth the additional cost, ensuring a more supportive and less stressful journey through such a significant medical procedure.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Lost appointments
Failed to call with results
Failed to order appropriate test
Failed to send your chart to another clinic
Lost results
Provided conflicting information
Failed to convey critical information
Failed to consider drug intolerance
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The clinic also provided me with conflicting information about when and how to take certain drugs. At one point, they assured me they could supply extra medication, only to later inform me they had run out and that I needed to order it from my pharmacy. This caused significant stress, as I had very little time to place the order and ensure the drugs arrived on time.
Additionally, my estrogen levels spiked so high that I had a really hard time post-egg retrieval. It seemed like they didn't consider the drugs and hormones already in my system and just kept pumping me with more. After doing more research and consulting with other fertility experts, I learned that administering excessive hormones near the end of the process to try to get more eggs can actually have negative effects. None of these potential risks were communicated to me, and I only discovered this information on my own and through other professionals.
I constantly felt like I had to chase the clinic down for information and to confirm my appointments. For example, I was extremely concerned that my egg retrieval might fall on Christmas. When I brought this up, they finally adjusted the schedule so it didn't coincide with the holiday. This adjustment was concerning because if Christmas was truly the optimal day for retrieval, I would have preferred to proceed then rather than delay by a day or two. This lack of clear planning and communication about the pros and cons of such a delay was troubling.
Overall, the process felt poorly planned, and the lack of communication left me feeling uncertain and stressed. It became clear that important decisions were being made without my input or proper briefing. This experience, compounded by the need to chase down basic information, left me deeply dissatisfied and regretful of choosing this clinic for such a significant medical procedure.
Dr. Kathiresan took her time with me at every visit and didn't make me feel rushed. She listened to my concerns, patiently answered my questions, and tailored treatment to my concerns/needs...She was direct and up-front with me about treatment plans, success rates that I could expect, side effects of medications, and risks of treatment. She was able to provide sound clinical reasoning for all of her medical decision-making. She struck me as professional with excellent clinical skills. I would refer anyone I know to her without hesitation.
staff [at CORM] was highly professional and welcoming. No complaints here...A medicated cycle with monitoring without IUI was $1275. IUI was an extra $400. Sperm freezing was offered to us at $800... The offices have a home-y feel and a child-free waiting room...There is a nursing triage line for non-urgent questions during normal business hours and an option to page the physician on weekends for emergencies.
How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Kathiresan impressed me greatly with her bedside manner, expertise and communication. I felt I could ask her anything, and no question was too trivial for her. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Kathiresan is unlikely to give you an unrealistically rosy outlook on your chance of success with different forms of treatment. Not that I found her to be too negative, but I think she might have slightly undersold our chances of treatment success. I prefer my expectations to be set too low rather than too high, but don't expect excessive optimism. She is a fantastic physician with an excellent bedside manner though, and you'll be pleased with your choice.

Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I got pregnant after 1 cycle of Femara 5 mg daily on CD3-7, then Ovidrel to trigger and timed intercourse. Pregnancy is currently ongoing and healthy, now at 10 weeks. Femara was used to induce ovulation for my PCOS, Ovidrel was my trigger shot and no MFI so timed intercourse was sufficient.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Ashley Jackson)
Ashley was the primary nurse I interacted with at CORM. She was excellent at providing prompt information, calling in my prescriptions, and responding to my questions. They have a nurse triage line for questions and I found that Ashley always responded to my non-urgent questions within a few hours. She was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable but willing to ask the doctor if I asked her something she didn't know. Similarly the rest of the staff was highly professional and welcoming. No complaints here.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic).
The clinic has multiple locations and flexible hours, which was really convenient for monitoring appointments! My spouse did his lab testing at a Saturday appt (available upon request), which was perfect for his busy weekday schedule. The offices have a home-y feel and a child-free waiting room, which I appreciated. There is a nursing triage line for non-urgent questions during normal business hours and an option to page the physician on weekends for emergencies.

Majority of my visits with Dr. Kathiresan was done virtually....I was assured that even though our visits are virtual, she is attentive and was able to assess my situation based on my blood work and ultrasounds...during the saline sonogram, we realized my cervix dips down and it makes it hard for the catheter to get to the uterus. How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Majority of my visits with Dr. Kathiresan was done virtually. It did feel a little distant in the beginning but throughout the course of our journey, I was assured that even though our visits are virtual, she is attentive and was able to assess my situation based on my blood work and ultrasounds. She is empathetic, compassionate, and personable during our phone calls and virtual visits- which I appreciate.
I did 3 egg retrievals with Kindbody and all 3 was performed by the doctor who was operating that day. During my 3rd retrieval, we noticed that my right ovary is hard to get to and they noted it in my chart. Prior to the retrieval, Dr. K assured me that it is noted in my chart and the Dr. operating that day is well aware. That retrieval was the one that got the most eggs- so I do believe the doctors talk amongst each other to prep each other.
Prior to the FET, she suspected that my uterus has a uterine polyp after viewing one of my ultrasounds during the egg retrieval process. I saw Dr. Kathiresan in person for my saline sonogram procedure and she is the same in person- personable, attentive, kind, and reassuring. I'm so glad that she did my saline sonogram because it was like a mock FET transfer; during the saline sonogram, we realized my cervix dips down and it makes it hard for the catheter to get to the uterus. She suggested that we add a stitch to my crevix so during the FET, she can tug on the stitch to make my cervix straighter and for the catheter to easily go in. She patiently went through all our options for the FET (adding a stitch or some patients are put under general anesthesia), discussed the FET process in detail, answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. Adding the stitch to the cervix is something new that we've never heard and she explained that she learned this while practicing in Texas. It was common at the last clinic she practiced at and less so here. She also said she's done it quite a bit which is reassuring. We decided to add a stitch to my cervix during my hysteroscopy surgery.
For my FET, the clinic unfortunately had a water leak and we could not perform the FET at the clinic but rather at a 3rd party clinic. That sent my anxiety through the roof. Dr. Kathiresan called me and reassured me that the whole team (her, the nurse, and embryologist) will be there and make sure the clinic has everything they need and set up properly. I was still nervous because it is a different environment for the team and there is sooo much room for human error but the FET went smoothly and I can't thank Dr. K enough for reassuring me and making sure everything was under control. Dr. K was calm the whole time and that calmed me down as well.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I understand Dr. Kathiresan has a lot of patients and sometimes, I have to remind Dr. Kathiresan of our last conversation. She does double check my chart during our conversations just to be sure.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I first met with Dr. Kathiresan in Q4 of 2022. Our communication at the start of our journey to my egg retrievals (consultation, planning our protocols, discussing our results, discussing next steps, etc) was done virtually. Though it felt a little distant in the beginning because everything was done virtually and it was my nursing team who did all my check ups (bloodwork & ultrasounds), every time I talked to dr. Kathiresan, she answered all the questions and addressed all our concerns with a warm approach- which I appreciate. Sometimes, you'd want a for-sure answer but after going through multiple rounds of egg retrieval and having different results every time, you just realize nothing is 100%. Dr. Kathiresan was able to tell us the pros and cons with each protocol and her own success rate/experience with each and that helped us assess and plan for the next protocol.
The nursing team is also amazing- every time I walk into the clinic, I am greeted warmly. The nurses and I have gotten to know each other and they're super friendly and welcoming. I also like their patient portal- it was convenient and I was able to message my care team right away where they would respond by the end of the day.
Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
My first protocol was a follicular phase protocol with estrogen priming. The estrogen priming gave me really bad migraines for days and it was debilitating. Dr. K explained that it is common as it's the same hormone that causes headaches during your period. If you're likely to experience headaches or migraines during your period, you'll most likely experience the same during estrogen priming. The migraine went away after day 3. I started with 150u menopur, Gonal-F 225u then increased to 300u on day 5, Omnitrope 35u, Ganirelix, and triggered with Lurpon and Novarel. 7 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts, and 1 PGT-A Euploid.
I wanted to go into the 2nd ER right away so Dr. K suggested we do a Luteal Phase protocol (this is after I ovulate). I was on Clomid 10mg for 5 days, Provera 5mg for 10 days, Menopur 150u, Omnitrope 35u, Gonal-F 300u, and triggered with Lupron & Novarel. During my monitoring, we noticed my right ovary was hard to get to and we retrieved 4 eggs, all 4 fertilized, 3 blasts and 3 PGT-A eupoids.
For the 3rd ER, we decided to go with the same protocol as the 2nd ER yieled the best results. We kept everything the same and we retrieved 13 eggs, 9 fertilized, 7 blasts, and 1 PGT-A euploid. Unfortunately, the 3rd ER yielded the worst results out of the 3 even though we copied the 2nd ER protocol exactly. This is when we realized science is never 100% and it really does differ each time.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The nursing staff is amazing! They are super welcoming, attentive, caring, friendly and kind. Every time I walk into the clinic, I am greeted warmly.
My blood draws are fairly painless (I'm not afraid of needles and blood draws do not scare me so it might be different for others). During the ultrasound, they show my what they're looking for and explain what they see which I really appreciate. During my ultrasounds when we check if the follicles have grown, they share the sizes with me right away so I feel assured we're right on track. If I have any questions, they'll answer it to the best of their ability or they will check with the doctor and I always get a response by the end of the day.
I can access my team through the patient portal and it's very convenient. I find it easier than calling them and I like to have the paper trail in my portal with all my questions and concerns.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The clinic is very new and modern. I met with a few fertility clinics prior to starting my IVF journey and a few reasons why we decided to proceed with KindBody was because their clinic was more modern and their online portal makes everything super convenient. My results are uploaded into my patient portal right away and I can access my team (dr, nurse, billing, insurance) through the portal. If anything needs to be discussed on the phone, they can easily schedule a 15min call with the doctor as well.
KindBody has 2 offices-- Century City and Santa Monica. I did all my blood work and ultrasounds at Century City and all procedures that require an operating room (egg retrieval, hysteroscopy, saline sonogram) was done at the Santa Monica clinic. Century City is very nice because it's located in the mall and Santa Monica is nice but the homeless situation in LA overall is getting out of hand so I get a little scared walking from the parking lot to the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Our fertility benefits through our insurance covered up to 20k, which was 2 cycles of ER. We paid $13,100 for a 3rd ER cycle+ 2 FET. Genetic Testing was $2880 each cycle (so multiply by 3 since we did 3 ER).
All lab work and diagonstic (ultrasound, blood work, consults) was covered by insurance after we met our deductible and out-of-pocket max.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
I received conflicting instructions for 2 of the medications.
During the estrogen priming stage, I received instructions from the nurse through the message portal to take the medication orally. On my dashboard (the first page you see when you log on), it said to take the medication vaginally. The nurse had to correct the dashboard.
For my trigger shot, I received instructions from the nurse through the message portal for both pregnyl and novarel (depending which one you received from the pharmacy), and she called to double confirm. During the call, I realized the instructions were different from the portal. We clarified which was correct and I'm glad she called to double check so we avoided a potential mishap with meds.
Thoughtful, considerate, warm. [Dr. Kathiresan] is accessible without making you feel like a burden. She really keeps in contact and makes herself available. She is knowledgeable, and I felt confident in her care. Best doctor to have during this vulnerable journey...She spent a lot of time walking us through each step and didn’t make us feel like a burden for asking questions
Strength [of CORM] - compassionate care. Run well and wait times not long. Staff stay in good contact and seem accessible. Dr. Kathiresan is always nearby and present. Weakness: even with flowsheets, for an anxious stressed person, even simple instructions may be hard to follow. I injected my trigger shot at the wrong time (PM not AM). Probably easy to miss parking garage. I’d say 90% probably miss it and have to U turn. Go a little earlier just in case.

Just once a medicine wasn’t sent but a simple phone call helped fix this.
Dr. Kathiresan was sent from heaven. We walked into CORM not knowing what to expect, however she made everything we went through easier because she is so knowledgeable and caring. She really became a cheerleader for us and I appreciate her style of care...For both of my retrievals we used the Microdose Lupron Flare protocol with omnitrope and a novarel trigger. The doses started off the same for both, however my doses were tweaked with both towards the end depending on how I was responding
The [CORM] strengths is that they are all very nice, it's small and homey feeling and you don't feel like a number. That your fertility journey might take a little longer than you anticipated and don't compare yourself to others.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I 100% felt like a human while under Dr. Kathiresan's care. I never felt rushed or judged and always felt like she our best interest in mind. She was always so friendly, patient and caring and always took the time to answer every question we had and never made us feel like our questions were dumb or silly.
Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For both of my retrievals we used the Microdose Lupron Flare protocol with omnitrope and a novarel trigger. The doses started off the same for both, however my doses were tweaked with both towards the end depending on how I was responding.
For the first transfer, I used estrogen pills (orally and vaginally), estrogen patches, Endometrin and progesterone in oil. I also used dexamethasone and lovenox. That transfer failed and we did a modified transfer protocol for the second one.
The second transfer I used Letrozole for 5 days, follistim for a few days, cetrotide and a novarel trigger shot. Once I had good sized follicles and my lining was thick enough, we triggered and my transfer was a week later. Five days before my transfer, I started Endometrin, oral estrogen, lovenox and dexamethasone. 30 minutes before the transfer took place, I took one shot of neupogen. After testing my blood the morning of my transfer, I was switched to vaginal estrogen.

I believe our egg retrieval was around $10,000 plus the costs of medication. The transfers are on a tiered basis. It's $4500 for the first one, $2000 if the first one fails and the third and any after that are free until you get pregnant.
Dr. Kathiresan is punctual, compassionate, understanding, brilliant and has great bed side manners...She explains test results and her plans well and never makes me feel rushed...My thyroid was a little bit low and since pregnant women have different normal range, I was placed on low dose levothyroxine to assure my values are within range, especially since I have a hx of miscarriages
I think if you make an appt [at CORM] later than 9am, then there will be a bit of a wait in the lobby. I also feel like there need to be additional front desk personnel. There's currently only one at Memorial City Office (she's great!) but the office does get busy and I think she may need extra support...she [assigned nurse] returned my phone call the very next day on Sunday to answer my concerns. When I had additional questions, she made sure to forward them to my physician as texted me back with the answers within 30 minutes

Dr. Kathiresan is punctual, compassionate, understanding, brilliant and has great bed side manners. I never felt rushed when I was there. Given the fact that I have a history of recurrent miscarriages, I was very nervous every visit and she explained everything in detail on why were are adding certain things to my regimen. She is very thorough and her never gives off a negative vibe, which is extremely important in this specialty, as you are dealing emotional/traumatized women. No negatives

Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My thyroid was a little bit low and since pregnant women have different normal range, I was placed on low dose levothyroxine to assure my values are within range, especially since I have a hx of miscarriages. I was also placed on anecdotal progesterone suppositories and low dose ASA for prevention of MC. I was only on low dose ASA for a week when a small SCH was noted and was off of it immediately and since then the SCH has been stable. Dr. Kathiresan also saw me weekly with transvaginal U/S to document my progress as I was measuring 2 days behind, stable.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Lori)
Lori was so great! I had some discomfort over Christmas weekend (I called on Sat 12/26) and left a message didn't think much of it and she returned my phone call the very next day on Sunday to answer my concerns. When I had additional questions, she made sure to forward them to my physician as texted me back with the answers within 30 minutes. AMAZING. I felt loved.

I think if you make an appt later than 9am, then there will be a bit of a wait in the lobby. I also feel like there need to be additional front desk personnel. There's currently only one at Memorial City Office (she's great!) but the office does get busy and I think she may need extra support.

How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Kathiresan is the best doctor we could dream of. She is very knowledgable and supportive; she performed all procedures professionally and always explained her treatment. We came to Dr. Kathiresan after one year of trying to get pregnant. Dr. Kathiresan performed a comprehensive health examination for me and my husband and discovered a couple of health issues, we were not aware of. She performed polyps removal surgery for me. Then we started fertility treatment. Dr. Kathiresan communicated to us with different options and explained all the benefits and concerns about each of them. We decided to start with IUI (4 tries) and later switched to IVF, which resulted in pregnancy from the first try and several healthy embryos frozen for our future pregnancies. Dr. Kathiresan was very supportive of the choices we made and did not push us to any specific type of treatment. She gave us time and full of information. She patiently answered all the questions we had. We always felt welcomed with her. She was very attentive and respectful to our reasoning. She encouraged us to stay optimistic and treated us like a family. Even though our journey to pregnancy was long, we enjoyed every moment of being treated by Dr. Kathiresan, and we would definitely recommend her to couples having fertility issues.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic).
They forgot to order one blood test, which took 2 weeks to get results back. This delayed our treatment process as we had to wait another 2 weeks for the results once the blood test was ordered.
Dr K [Kathiresan] was incredible! Infertility is such a miserable thing, but her compassion and patience made it a pleasant experience. I always looked forward to seeing her, as I always left feeling reassured and hopeful. She was always willing to answer questions, no matter how neurotic I got. She, more than any doctor I’ve known, looked so genuinely excited for us when we finally got our positive. I wouldn’t wish infertility on anyone, but if you have it- Dr K is the best choice you can make.
I liked it [CORM]. Scheduling was easy, everyone was nice. Lots of locations to choose from. We had to go down to Clear Lake for testing/procedures on the weekend, but it was worth the trip. The Memorial location was my favorite - I rarely had to wait for than a few minutes to be seen.... Ashley was incredible. She was so helpful and was such a sweetheart when she called to give me news, good or bad. She was attentive and was on top of everything throughout each cycle.

Dr Anupama Karthiresan treated me with empathy and professional. She gave a detailed explanation on every step for the reason why we have to proceed with IVF right away rather than IUI...She is strict about performing eSET only...She shows compassion and she has an excellent bed side manner. I feel like she is trying to be as honest as possible about our condition and still make us feel like it is not the end of the world.
[CORM] is really nice, clean and relaxing. It almost feel like we are going to a SPA! Everyone is professional and helpful...it took a long time to make an appointment, and then I had to put down deposit in the phone call with them before seeing the doctor...i wish they would do is to follow up with me on my email. They did not do it after my visit. However, everyone in the facility is really friendly and helpful.
How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
The only setback so far is that she only wanted to try 1 embryo transplant, where the other clinic agrees to have up to 2 embryos. However, she gave a real reason why it has to be that way. She shows compassion and she has an excellent bed side manner. I feel like she is trying to be as honest as possible about our condition and still make us feel like it is not the end of the world.

Dr Anupama Karthiresan treated me with empathy and professional. She gave a detailed explanation on every step for the reason why we have to proceed with IVF right away rather than IUI. She told us about the IVF process to ensure we are understanding what will be going on. With the previous doctor, I only could talk with him for around 5 mins. She took time to explain (the first visit took 1 hour).
Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I was there to have a consultation since Id like to know whether there is anything we can do beside IVF treatment. She reviewed the blood work and semen sample, and since it was due to the male factor, she did not give me any medication. The only thing she recommended was only vitamin D and prenatal vitamin for me and Clomyd for my husband. Right now we can not say what the result is yet since we have not performed the IVF yet.

This clinic is really nice, clean and relaxing. It almost feel like we are going to a SPA! Everyone is professional and helpful, my visit is not a torture to me.
Though I did have an issue for the first visit, somehow it took a long time to make an appointment, and then I had to put down deposit in the phone call with them before seeing the doctor. I thought it was odd since I never had to do that with my other doctors. Also, there was no follow-up after my 1st visit, I had to call them all the time to arrange 2nd visit. These hiccups did not really deter me since I like dr Karthiresan.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic).
I had my Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance and I had to pay 350 for the first ultrasound and blood work. Also around 100 for the semen analysis. However, for the IVF cycle, it was 14500 without the PGS testing and 17000 with the PGS.
Describe Anupama Kathiresan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic).
She is strict about performing eSET only. I prefer multiple embryo transfer to have a better chance to have twins.
Education is also important to me and Dr. Kathiresan was very informative and made sure we knew our options at each step of the way. With infertility being such a personal and possibly painful topic, you want your care to be at a place that sees you are more than just business. She rooted for us and considered our embryos as precious as we did. It was clear that she cared not only for a successful pregnancy but that we were comfortable, meaning nothing was ever rushed or pressured.
The clinic [CORM] was small and intimate. I felt like we were seen and each of the staff knew us and our history each time we visited. On the weekends, the staff rotate at the surgical center so we would often see a familiar face if an appointment landed on the weekend. Even the administrative/insurance department recalled our files and were so helpful getting any issues resolved with my insurance company and explained everything thoroughly.
How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I did extensive research on the infertility clinics in Houston before I visited anyone. CORM and Dr. Kathiresan was on the top of my list as not only was her background impressive, but so were her colleagues and I knew in the field that your care may be in the hands of one of the other doctors if your appointment landed on a weekend.
We ended up consulting a different infertility clinic at the recommendation of our OB. While that clinic was professional, my husband and I felt uneasy about the volume of patients each time we visited where we felt like just a number. I went with my gut and sought a second consultation with Dr. Kathiresan at CORM. Everyone at CORM was warm and the office had an intimate setting. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anupama Kathiresan at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Research the entire clinic, not just the primary doctor for your care, including their lab if they have one. Make sure you're absolutely comfortable with your doctor and nurses where you can bring up any issues or questions. See multiple doctors until you find the one you're comfortable with.

Only a handful of doctors meant that I could research all of them and felt comfortable with all of them. Their rotating staff on the weekends meant that if I had a weekend appointment, I usually saw a familiar face at the surgical center. They also have their own storage facility and lab for the embryos. Their surgical center is located in Clear Lake with plenty of parking.
She [Dr. Kathiresan] was very nice and knowledgeable but very conservative with treatment. She wasn’t willing to do any immune treatment or prophylactic treatments. She was also Willing to follow what we wanted as far as timed intercourse vs IUI etc.... 1st timed intercourse cycle- Large cyst at baseline but continued. Only one egg on 7.5 mg letrozole. Trigger on day 16. 0 beta. 2nd timed intercourse cycle- clean baseline. 7.5 femara followed by 4 days of 75iu gonal F. Only 2 eggs that were barely mature at CD 13.
The clinics financial department was a nightmare from start to finish. They [CORM] told me things weren’t covered when I knew for a fact they were. They tried to make me do a $1100 package for my third timed cycle but the protocol was the same as my second and I only needed 2 ultrasounds and lab work. The package was for 4 monitoring sessions. If I had paid separately for each aspect of my cycle it was going to be much much cheaper.

Tested out trigger at home and after 3 days of negatives I had 3 days of positives but the nurses said no betas until 14 dpo. By that point tests were lightening again. Beta of ~3. No follow up to see if it was rising or falling. Just told to stop progesterone.

They had also said the cost for a cycle capped out at the $1100 so If I ended up needed the full package i didn’t pay more. It seems like I always got a different answer depending on who I spoke to. I got the impression that things were done a certain way and that was not open for change on a case by case basis. I feel like the management prioritises profits over patients.

Dr.Kathiresan was very gentle and explained all of my options and was my pushy about which options to do. It was our choice of what we are comfortable with. Dr. Kathiresan did give us her professional advice of what would be best for us in our IVF journey.... Felt like a human she answered all my questions was not pushy understood how I felt about my previous treatment with IVF.
The clinic [CORM] is very quiet, clean, organized and the privacy is a big plus. The communication is also a big plus. Ashley [nurse at CORM] was so kind and thorough. She was professional and prompt...Strengths: appointments were generally quick; waiting area was private; clinic was clean; front staff is friendly; ultrasound technician is kind and friendly ...The only weakness is that the front office phone is never answered and patient has to leave a voicemail then wait for a returned call...The last few weeks we had a different nurse but did not interact with her as much due to the stage of our cycle.

Dr. Kathirsean is a bright and professional medical doctor. She is confident in her skills. Aside from this, she made my husband and I feel like she really cared. She explained all procedures with visuals and in a manner we could understand. She was hopeful yet gently told us the limitations and risks. Our previous doctor was cold and too serious which made us feel intimidated and like giving up. When we met Dr. Kathirsean it was obvious she does her best to meet her patients’ wish to be parents.

[Dr. Anupama Kathiresan] is very professional, caring and dedicated physician who warmly understands all your emotional and physical concerns...I would recommend her strongly to anyone is looking for a safe journey. We were treated professionally and passionately by Dr Kathiresan...I can’t point out on a single event that she was disappointing!
In my opinion, clinic and administrative staff [at CORM] do only their routine job and nothing great. I wouldn’t choose this clinic if it was not for their physicians’ proficiency. Otherwise, the clinical staff are less considerate and compassionate with the patient and never flexible...Couple of times, the nurse had errors on her advices and I had to second guess her until she confirms the right procedure….

Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic).
In my opinion, clinic and administrative staff do only their routine job and nothing great. I wouldn’t choose this clinic if it was not for their physicians’ proficiency. Otherwise, the clinical staff are less considerate and compassionate with the patient and never flexible. Please cut their attitudes!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility Texas (US Fertility Network clinic).
I have gone through this procedure twice for both my babies. So somehow I know the procedure with Transfer and tests. Couple of times, the nurse had errors on her advices and I had to second guess her until she confirms the right procedure….few other events happened however I believe the medical error in this field is totally unacceptable considering the sensitivity of the procedure and patience’s morality going through this!
We actually wanted to transfer 2 embryos but when Dr Kathiresan explained to us why they don’t offer that we understood and was very pleased with the results...She gave my husband and I options and we went with the one we both was comfortable with. She never missed any appointments with us...
The [CORM] clinic was great overall. Answering the phone need to be a little better. You can’t really call and speak to someone if you have an urgent question. You’ll have to leave a message then someone will call back . It’s a little annoying but it works I guess...we paid cash but they did have a program so we only paid $15,000 upfront and then the rest was monthly payments...this excludes medication.

My experience with Dr Kathiresan was great. She gave my husband and I options and we went with the one we both was comfortable with. She never missed any appointments with us . Even though we were in a middle of a pandemic. !! The most important things for me she didn’t judge me , I was looking for a doctor that would not judge me based on my age and Dr Kathiresan did not so I was comfortable with her .
Ps..I was 25 at the time .

I feel like she [Dr. Kathiresan] truly cares about the results, as if she's rooting for us as much as our families. I feel like I can trust her to point us in the best direction. Even if were not sure we want to go the route she's suggesting she's not pushy but understanding. She understands the stress and hope that goes with this process. I thank her for that and hope for success in our future.... She lets me know what concerns her most about any situation we go through. I believe her best strength is her compassion. Doctor Kathiresan met with me via Zoom to walk me through egg retrieval. I know she was probably tired that day or has done this speech a lot so her energy level was low but to be expected. I did not meet her at the clinic during my visits but we communicated on the portal often during my treatment. She always provided prompt updates after every cycle visit which I appreciated. And always walked me through changes.
Kindbody is a dream fertility clinic. They have their process down pat. You meet with the doctor virtually. They have a Head nurse on staff at all times you can drop in during cycle visits. During cycle visits, you go every other day for treatment. They are 15 minutes and include a scan and bloodwork. Everyone knows their job and does it well...The nurses at Kindbody Santa Monica were great! Communicative, timely, friendly, and efficent.

I did 13 days of stimulation drugs versus the standard 8-10 days which meant I had to reorder my stimulation drugs twice during the procedure. In those 13 days, my dosage changed multiple times for each medication. Dr. Kathiresan walked me through all these changes. I also had worried about having PCOS since I had an Ovarian cyst in high school that burst and during one of my cycle visits they thought they observed a cyst and thought ultimately it was a dominant follicle but during the egg retriveal procedure the doctor said it was in fact a cyst. Dr. Kathiresan walked me through a typical PCOS diagnosis has three parts and I really only showed 2 of the 3 signs because I had normal periods. It was helpful to understand for my fertility health.
