Dr. Kathiresan spent a lot of extra time explaining the IVF Journey and all of the procedures that I would go through from Retrieval to FET. She was very patient with the fact that I was uncomfortable with needles and took extra time to explain the injections to my husband. Dr. Kathiresan was always available to connect in person in the clinic, on virtual calls or via the Kindbody app.

Bring a list of questions on your phone or written down. You'll feel frazzled when you get into the clinic so it's helpful to have questions to run through.

Due to my age (41) and the fact that we only had 1 healthy embryo viable for FET, Dr. Kathiresan advised a daily Lovenox shot until 6 weeks of pregnancy and Progesterone in Oil every other day until 10 weeks of pregnancy. She also advised Estradiol (oral am/vaginal pm) and Endometrin (vaginal - 3x) daily until 10 weeks of pregnancy. The Progesterone in Oil was incredibly painful for the first few weeks but it really helped to warm the shot under an armpit or in a warm hand prior to injection. Firmly massaging the injection spot was also very effective in spreading out the medication. This course of treatment resulted in a confirmed pregnancy, now over 12 weeks.

My employer fertility benefits through Carrot only covers single embryo transfer for the safety of the patient. Dr. Kathiresan and I never had to discuss her approach to eSET because it was never my intention to transfer more than 1 embryo.

Great doctor. Very knowledgeable and always wants to ensure that you understand what is being discussed, what are your options, and what additional assistance you can utilize to help with any difficulties that may come up during treatment. Dr. Kathiresan genuinely cares and listened attentively whenever I spoke with her. She is very thorough and so everything within her power and expertise to achieve anticipated results. I was very anxious with minor exams, to the point that anxiolytics were prescribed (to no avail). Dr. Kathiresan recommended pelvic floor therapy which helped me to manage my anxiety without medications. I even had to undergo a procedure utilizing general anesthesia, and Dr. Kathiresan had already arranged with one of her more specialized colleagues to be on standby if an additional surgery needed to be done, so that I would not have to go through general anesthesia multiple times. She was never pushy with her recommendations, but she was very realistic and supported whatever decisions I ultimately made. Dr. Kathiresan is all about educating patients. She always had visuals during my visits so that I could understand the biological processes at work throughout my treatment, visually see timeliness and outlines of what she was describing, and she even showed me my radiologic images so that I knew what was currently happening inside me. There was also an instance where I had a very poor experience with staff in the clinic. Even though Dr. Kathiresan could not directly address the problem, she connected me to the right person who could address my concerns. I also appreciated when she would text or call me after hours when she had urgent information to relay to me. The only things that would have made my experience perfect was if Dr. Kathiresan was always on time, especially during video visits, and if she would slow down when presenting information. As a medical professional, I was able to grasp most of what she shared, however, my husband would be overwhelmed every time.

Watch her educational videos and jot down anything that you would like her to explain in further detail. Ask questions and don't hesitate to ask her to lay out all of your options to further help you make informed decisions. If she does not have an answer she will definitely direct you to the right resources.

I underwent IUI. After our initial diagnostic exams were completed, there were no biological explanations found for my inability to conceive, so we proceeded with treatment 4 days after my last menstrual cycle started. I took 2.5mg letrozole days 3-7 (I mistakenly started 1 day early). The rationale for this was to increase the number of viable follicles to produce eggs. On day 12 my LH and progesterone were checked, and then on day 13 I was instructed to inject the trigger shot, ovidrel, subcutaneously at home. Ovidrel was used to help with ovulation. On day 15 I went for the IUI, using moderate sedation, since Dr. Kathiresan had difficulty accessing my cervix during the hsg. On day 17 I started prescribed progesterone suppositories to support the developing fetus and decrease the chance of miscarriage. I took the suppositories for 9 weeks. Thankfully my IUI was a success and I am currently 11 weeks pregnant.

Every visit I paid a copay. Insurance covered about 80% of my treatment costs after I met the deductible, so I paid the difference for the following: an unscheduled abdominal ultrasound, general anesthesia and other hospital costs with my hsg, all medications, including IV medications. Out of pocket I spent at least $5000.

Dr. Kathiresan listened to all our concerns and answered all our questions with patience. She is very good at explaining the process and shares realistic predictive outcomes. She was flexible in including our options (within limits of Clinic's practice) to ensure positive pregnancy.

Get a good understanding of treatment probability numbers! Ask questions however stupid they sound!

Short protocol (for both IVF cycles). I was responding well to the stimulation medications wrt. peak estrogen levels both the times. Outcome from 1st cycle was 0 day-5 embryos. For 2nd cycle, additional growth hormone injection along with stim injections helped in a much favourable outcome.(7 day-5 embryos)

Had fertility insurance through employer so out of pocket cost was considerably low.

Clinic's policy was eSET. We had no problem with the approach.

Dr Kathiresan was the greatest doctor we could have asked for. She has just enough empathy without it being overkill and is such a straight shooter with the facts and information. I like someone who is not going to sugar coat it to me. I want to know options, recommendations, risks, etc. She always let us choose our own path without judgement after giving her recommendations. I always felt like I was in good hands with her and everyone at the office. Never had a bad experience

To just meet with a couple of doctors and see who you like more. We liked Dr K much more than the other doctors

We did medicated Egg retreival using lupron, gonal F, and cetrotide I think? We ended up with 20+ eggs, and over 6 PGS tested normal embryos. I had to have uterine polyps removed before our frozen embryo transfer which Dr. K performed. Then once healed after that, we started the FET cycle. I was taking estradiol pills, estradiol patches, progesterone suppositories, and progesterone in ethyl oleate injections. It all went by very quickly and worked the first transfer :)

I think in total for medications, IVF retrieval, FET, and a surgery to remove uterine polyps we spent around $30K. Without the surgery it was about $25K for all medications and everything.

Dr K recommends and I believe only allows single emrbyo transfers.

Dr. Katherisan is very knowledgeable and transparently shares results, recommendations, and next steps in a clear manner. Additionally, she has a bedside manner that shows she cares about her patients, and wants to ensure their comfort during the process. For example, during my HSG test, she walked me through everything that was going to happen, and periodically paused to check and make sure I was doing alright.

I was in a bit of a unique situation because after the HSG test, Dr. Katherisan determined that some uterine polyps may be causing slight tubal blockage, and recommended surgery to have them removed. However, the month that the surgery was to be scheduled, I ended up getting pregnant naturally! From there Dr. Katherisan monitored me under her care until releasing me to my OBGYN.

Dr. Kathiresan was a phenomenal doctor and I'm so grateful I found her to take me through this overwhelming and emotional process. She was empathetic and optimistic toward reaching our goals but also very realistic in setting expectations and ensuring that I was fully informed about every step of the process and the chances of success. Though I am a physician as well, she was able to navigate our patient-doctor relationship flawlessly (which is notoriously hard to do when the patient is also in the healthcare field as doctors/nurses make some of the toughest patients!). She is caring, thoughtful, and clearly works toward optimizing the chances for success for her patients - even if that means having difficult conversations rather than simply reassuring you that "everything will work out fine!" If you are looking for someone to guide you through this tough journey, whether it's infertility issues or fertility preservation, I couldn't recommend Dr. Kathiresan more as your REI doctor.

Ask questions!! Don't be afraid to speak up about what you need to know to feel comfortable with the process.

$7500 for the entire process except for medications for egg freezing

I am crying typing this. Dr. Kathiresan showed me compassion like I had never received from any previous fertility doctor. She always took her time and explained everything in detail, stopped when I had questions, explained things several times if I did not understand, and always gave me the reasons behind her decisions and what she thought would be the best course of treatment. Her personalized care made me feel like she genuinely cared about my well being. This is an extremely personal and emotional experience, and Dr. Kathiresan made the entire process just a little bit easier.

Understand this is a lengthy process. Be patient and take it one day at a time.

Dr. Kathiresan explained that a single embryo transfer was best in my situation, and that her practice preferred to only transfer one embryo at a time. I was hesitant at first, because the prior two clinics always pushed for two embryos. Once she explained the rationale, pros and cons to single embryo transfer, I understood the approach.

Dr. Kathiresan was very kind and patient. She made me feel comfortable to ask any questions and I always felt as though she was answering honestly and to the best of her ability. She did not sugar-coat my results even if they were bad news, which I appreciated, and did not hesitate to delay a procedure if it meant that it would be more successful in the long run.

Do research beforehand and ask all the questions you want.

Dr. Kathiresan felt strongly that we should only transfer a single embryo to help ensure a successful implantation. Because we had so many embryos, we would have many more opportunities to implant again if it failed. She was also concerned about the risks of carrying and delivering multiples. We went back and forth a few times about whether we agreed and ultimately decided to follow her approach.

Our experiences with Dr Anu Kathiresan were positive from the first till the last encounter. At the beginning of our journey, my husband and I were novices to the fertility process. We went in with a lot of questions and by the end of the first visit were already well versed on the options that we had moving forward and the steps that were necessary to achieve our desired outcome of conceiving a child. Dr Kathiresan was always very patient, thorough and direct when explaining the diagnostic findings and necessary procedures. My spouse and I felt comfortable, supported and confident under her care as I underwent a polypectomy and a subsequent successful 1st round intrauterine insemination.

About $200 for my ultrasound and doctor visit.

She was always happy and entertained my silly comments when I felt like the mood needed to be lightened. When I didn't want to do exactly what she wanted me to do, she understood, but still explained why she wanted me to do the things. She never overbooked, so I was always in and out very quick.

If you feel confident in not doing something she recommends, do research. I wished somebody would have immediately told me the HSG test seems to up the chances of getting pregnant. I declined in the beginning because I thought it was an unnecessary test until friends of mine told me their doctors said a high number of their clients get pregnant the cycle after the HSG. 2 of my friends got pregnant immediately after, and so did I.

I declined using any fertility drugs. I did use a trigger shot 36 hours before my IUI, but otherwise the schedule was natural. I got pregnant the cycle after I did the HSG, fallopian tube test, and I also used a donor that had a higher count.

My insurance didn't cover anything until after I was pregnant. I paid cash for everything

Dr. Kathiresan is gentle, detailed oriented and passionate. She takes the time to listen to your questions and thoroughly answers them without overwhelming you nor rushing you. She will provide multiple protocols to choose from, not just one that she thinks is best. She listens and remembers what protocol you want to move forward with. Her educational videos on social media and blogs are also extremely helpful and representative of CORMs procedures. I wish we could have continued our OB care with her until the baby's arrival.

Be patient and take it one step at a time. Trust Dr. Kathiresan even if there is a bump in a road and keep trying!

Protocol 1: Transfer of qty 1 day 5 embryo without embryo glue. Beta 1 was positive at 42 HCG but Beta 2 was negative. Protocol 2: Performed Hysteroscopy (minimal obstructions) and ERA (120 hour progesterone - on time). Transfer of qty 1 day 5 embryo with glue. Beta 1 was negative. Protocol 3: "Kitchen sink method" of Transferring qty 1 day 5 embryo with embryo glue. Additional medication was taking dexamethasone steroid and lovenox blood thinner after transfer. Beta 1 and 2 resulted positive and we graduated the program at 9 weeks!

Yes, CORMs protocol only allows 1 embryo per transfer. Initially we were unhappy because we wanted 2 to be transferred. After hearing the risks, we agreed and are content.

Dr. Kathiresan was very knowledgeable and made a complicated process very easy to follow. She was patient and understanding. It’s honestly fascinating how little women know about their own cycles including myself and Dr. Kathiresan literally filled in those gaps to provide a better understanding of the process. I was very grateful to have her as my doctor.

I would say, write down your questions head of the appointments so that you don’t forget because the time is valuable.

We ended up going with a luteal phase egg freezing after a few months of delaying the procedure due to lower than baseline follicle counts. This ended up being 100% the right move for me because I was less emotional and my count was higher.

Everyone was cognizant that I am bisexual and not partnered, so people were respectful and not assuming of my situation with I appreciated

Dr. Kathiresan was a pleasure to work with. She is very understanding, very upfront with care options and overall amazing bed side manners. I will forever be thankful to her and it is doctors like her that make a difference in people’s lives.

Take one day at a time. Breathe. Ask as many questions as you need to, write them down and it’s okay to ask the same question over and over until you are reassured.

I am very glad that we did only one embryo transfer. Initially, I wanted to do more than one for twin option, however after the success of my first pregnancy it was very hard on my body with just one embryo transfer. I can’t imagine with more than one. However, each person is different, this is solely my experience. One single transfer was the best option for me and I am glad that this was the only option, one single embryo transfer, as part of my treatment.

Dr. Kathiresan is by far one of the best doctors I’ve ever had. She takes the time to explain results and options to her patients. Amazing bed side manner and overall genuine empathy and compassion for her job. Cannot recommend her enough if you are looking for a Reproductive Endocrinologist!

Try not to get overwhelmed with information. Also it’s okay to change your mind. At my first visit I said I’d never do IVF but I changed my mind down the road and Dr. Kathiresan will be with you every step of the way. Always ask her questions, she will gladly answer them.

I want to say total cost can’t out to almost $15k for IVF procedure, PGS testing, embryo freezing, transfer and medications

Dr. Kathiresan was warm, kind, and empathetic. She always made sure that all of my questions were answered, and she was available if I had any questions that popped up. She always made sure that I felt comfortable with the whole process. When I got emotional during our transfer, she got a little emotional with me. In that moment, I felt like she wasn’t just my Dr, but she was on the journey with me.

Expect a warm and kind Dr who is passionate and takes pride in what she does.

I only wanted to transfer 1 embryo because as a pediatric nurse I know the risks associated with multiples, and Dr. Kathiresan echoed my concerns stating that she only likes to transfer one embryo at a time.

I beat the odds of infertility by the side of a magnificent doctor Anu Kathiresan. Her guidance and exceptional dedication towards obtaining a positive pregnancy result was absolutely and undeniably the BEST! I not only achieved my first IVF miracle baby with her but also my second. For six years, I was lost in the land of infertility doctors with no positive avail. Dr. Kathiresan gave me hope, introduced me to extensive medical studies and procedures that made my dream a reality within a year. I am so blessed that God placed me on her path at the right time. She is my superhero doctor and I am so thankful to have her in my life. To my sister warriors fighting infertility Dr. Kathiresan and staff is the answer.

Don't give up because she will do everything possible to reach the two line goal.

She introduced me to the ERA exam. This exam would give her the highest peak to conceive.

The costs did not matter because it was for a great cause.

Her approach to determine whether to have a single or a multiple transfer depends on her patient's overall examination. To me, she recommended a single and worked out perfect!

Dr. K was great. She met with me several times during my cycles. During the last cycle she was actually there for my retrieval. She went through everything thoroughly and ensured I understood everything. She also continually checked in on me to make sure I was okay.

First protocol was Luteal and that didn't garner great results for me, I had 11 eggs retrieved and 3 were mature. The last cycle we did estrogen priming and I was hyper stimulated and we got 27 eggs and 19 were mature.

My company paid for my kindcycles. I think my out of pocket expenses were roughly 1200 for the first round and 895 for the second.

Dr. Kathiresan was wonderful! Very knowledgeable and clear on what needed to be done in order to make our process successful. She was kind and eased all of our concerns. I am so grateful we chose her to walk with us through all of this!

Ask whatever question you want, she will be happy to explain it all to you. There is no stupid questions and you are going to want to make sure you leave without anything up in the air.

During the retrieval stage I was on the growth hormone ( due to my low amh), gonal f, Cetrotide and dhea. I am not sure of the other medication. I then did a hysteroscopy, then an ERA (which came back that I needed extra time on Progesterone. During the transfer cycle, I was on Estrace, Pio, Endometrium, Estrogen patches, Lovonox, and baby Aspirin.

Dr. Kathiresan was very attentive and adjusted my medicines and appointments to monitor the results she was seeing. It truly was a hands-on experience with her. She made you feel like she was doing everything she could to get the results you wanted.

Be ready to visit the office frequently and the process leading up to your first IUI might take longer than you hope because of all the testing that is necessary before starting either IUI or IVF.

To say I was real nervous starting this journey she really put me at ease. Being that she went over everything with us and she didn't sugar coat anything. She went over everything with us even the risks. She has made this journey so worth going through, I felt like I was in good hands with her as my Dr. I would recommend her to anyone.
