She [Dr. Asima Ahmad] listened to our story and took everything we told her into account when developing our treatment plan. She also remembered our situation from consultation to consultation. I think that everyone that works there [at Fertility Centers of Illinois - Tinley Park] truly cares and wants to help you achieve your goals for having a family...Everyone is very nice especially for ultrasounds and bloodwork in the clinic. Everyone has answered my questions in a timely manner. There have been several instances when I’ve felt the communication was a little disorganized or it was hard to get a hold of a nurse.
How was your experience with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
She is personable, caring, and explains these complicated procedures for anyone to understand. There was a time when my prescription had not gone through and she called my pharmacy repeatedly on the night before a holiday until it was resolved. She also helped us come to the difficult decision to use a sperm donor. She allowed us time, provided resources, and ultimately helped us see this was the best path to a family.

Be honest about your hopes for treatment. She will do her best to honor them while being realistic and compassionate.

I know for the IUI cycles we did age used oral medications and a trigger shot. I have the prescriptions but have not yet used or started to know what they do.

Everyone is very nice especially for ultrasounds and bloodwork in the clinic. Everyone has answered my questions in a timely manner. There have been several instances when I’ve felt the communication was a little disorganized or it was hard to get a hold of a nurse. Though we have to use a sperm donor, On several occasions, Iwas given instructions for my husband which was difficult for him. Lastly, I sometimes felt as if messages were rushed, stock emails, or I’d get conflicting information. For example I recently checked in in the portal to confirm that I had everything ready to go, was told yes, then once it was time to go, there were several things incomplete. Overall I’ve had a good experience!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Mostly I’ve received some conflicting information I’m the portal. Such as stock information sheets for procedures (instructions fir husband when we have to use a sperm donor), one nurse said they had documentation from my OBGYN and then it wasn’t there causing a rush situation to start medication. Lastly, there was a time when I called the front desk to get test results and they said the nurses would call after the front desk closed, but I never got a call (my phone had malfunctioned and I didn’t receive a message they left, but I thought they could’ve just let us leave a message).
I felt like she [Dr. Ahmad] cared about me an wanted the best for me. She would always explain everything very thoroughly so I knew what was happening next. I felt very actively involved in my treatment plan...My husband and I chose to do PGT-A testing which was Dr. Ahmad’s personal recommendation for me. After 4 egg retrievals I was able to get pregnant on my first transfer which was a frozen embryo transfer...
There were a couple of occasions were one of the nurses [at Fertility Centers of Illinois] would record my medicine dosage incorrectly. Luckily everything was taken care of...Michelle was the most wonderful nurse I could ever ask for. She is so compassionate and thorough. She always returned my phone calls in a timely manner. She was there for me every step of the way....

[Dr. Ahmad] comes off as very authentic. I truly think she means well and wants to help build families. The whole process is overwhelming but she did calm both of us every chat we did have. She's bubbly but explained everything and gave us time to explain ourselves and our thoughts and feelings...The follicles looked great and because of my age at 34 then she recommended a pill that would help produce more eggs but ended up being a few extra but we went with it anyways
The clinic was pretty well organized and no problems. We made ourselves comfortable and had no complaints. We thought the staff at the River North location was more friendly than Tinley Park location...Honestly [the Fertility Centers of Illinois nurses] weren't very friendly. Was not impressed with the non welcoming feeling in such a tough situation..

Just be prepared for the ups and downs she is a kind woman but the fertility process is tough. Covid hit and we couldn't get in for an appointment which is through no fault but it put us back awhile which was disheartening and didn't feel that they reached out at all to touch base.

The follicles looked great and because of my age at 34 then she recommended a pill that would help produce more eggs but ended up being a few extra but we went with it anyways. My levels both times we very different when going in for iui which was a bit confusing. I took progesterone and a trigger shot. We had two negative cycles.

We paid for everything out of pocket. Labs, appointments, procedures, IUI, follow up appointments, and currently still paying for storage fees on a vital that has sat there since they canceled our appointment when covid hit last year. So honestly I'd say minimum of $8.5 k

We honestly just felt like more of a number here. Realistically we were forgotten once covid hit. They had to cancel the appointment as I understand but never really followed up for us too understand when they would allow us back again. Felt left behind and it took us awhile to try and get back on track. :(
[Dr. Ahmad] very nice but I never talk with her or hear from her unless something is wrong or drastically changing. I stay under her care because I'm tied of changing clinics. She's the first not too focus on my weight issues but to inform and diagnose pcos...I've seen her 4 times in 3 years. My treatment is based on her schedule...She flat out said no to transferring more than one with no reason other than we don't do that.
The front desk women at hinsdale [clinic of Fertility Centers of Illinois] are unorganized, rude, and unpleasant...A sperm sample was fried, blood work forgotten and not sent to the lab, bills not sent to insurance and demanded to be paid before services could continue, waited several days for call back while my nurse was out for results, when miscarried I was asked to wait in the waiting room crying my eyes out, and blood was taken and the wrong label placed on it.

Describe the protocols Asima Ahmad used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Since we were diagnosed with "unexplained infertility", and deemed healthy, we were first recommended to try timed intercourse with Letrozole and Chlomid for the first few months.
After that, she suggested trying a few cycles of IUI. We had three procedures, all three unsuccessful with the last producing a chemical pregnancy.
I had a small blockage in my uterus, or polyp, this whole time so before trying IVF, she suggested a hysteroscopy to remove the polyp. A few doctor's had seen it on my screenings but said it was not large enough to be an issue, but we agreed with Dr. Ahmad that it was best to remove it before starting IVF.
We are now planning our IVF plan and hoping to get started ASAP.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
My husband and I are both teachers and our schools do not cover infertility treatments. Initially, on my insurance plan, 0% of costs were covered, so all of the initial screenings and testings were very costly. Because of this, we switched to my husband's insurance, which covers at least a few routine screenings. His insurance only covers basic testing like blood tests and ultrasounds, which isn't much but helps with the frequent testing. So far with the medications, IUIs, and procedures I would estimate that we've paid close $5,000. We will not have any coverage for IVF, so we are estimating to pay about $12,000 or so out of pocket.

She’s [Dr. Ahmad] was very patient and empathetic whenever we met...she would check kept an eye on the treatment and followed up in between to reassure us and answer our questions...Out 32 eggs we got 3 embryos and only 1 was viable for a transfer the other 2 had chromosomal abnormalities, I’m so glad we went with her recommendation and got the test done. We got the healthy embryo transferred and now I have a beautiful boy all thanks to her. I would choose her as my doctor if I need to go back again...

We did 2 IUI’s and the second one ended up being a chemical pregnancy. She told us we could go for IVF as it had a better chance, but our insurance needed us to complete 6 IUI’s so we did 4 more and got 3 negative pregnancies and 1 more chemical. when we finally went for IVF she strongly suggested us to do a genetic testing which we hesitated at first but went with it. Out 32 eggs we got 3 embryos and only 1 was viable for a transfer the other 2 had chromosomal abnormalities, I’m so glad we went with her recommendation and got the test done. We got the healthy embryo transferred and now I have a beautiful boy all thanks to her. I would choose her as my doctor if I need to go back again.

She [Dr. Ahmad] was open to my desires with my treatment and switched gears quickly and jumped right into discussing next steps which will be IVF. ... I have had minimal interactions with her. She is well put together, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was assigned to her after my original RE left the practice and she made the transition seamless- there was no break in my treatment.
The clinic [Fertility Centers of IL] is clean and updated. The staff is helpful and friendly. Going frequently to the clinic they even remembered me which was a nice touch. Whenever I had questions she answered them promptly and made me feel at ease. Michelle made me feel like she was working solely for me though I know she had many other patients. She is friendly and kind. Michelle is very intelligent and I felt like I was getting the very best care with her. She was my nurse with both doctors so that also helped.
How was your experience with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
From my previous description- I have had minimal interactions with her. She is well put together, friendly, and knowledgeable. I was assigned to her after my original RE left the practice and she made the transition seamless- there was no break in my treatment. She was highly recommended from my previous RE. I only met her before my 3rd IUI failed when we were to discuss next steps. She was straightforward but I felt she was still somewhat of a complete stranger though she knew so much about my history. I wish we could have had more of an introduction prior to that meeting or that during that meeting there was a moment of getting to know each other. She had stated a 4th IUI could be done but I was set on my previous REs recommendation of moving on after 3 IUIs. She heard what I said and switched gears immediately jumping right into discussion of IVF. I left feeling nervous but heard by her. I am looking forward to getting to know her as we begin IVF treatment. I am fully confident in her ability as my RE I just want to get to know her more.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Make sure you set time to get to know your RE more than just medical jargon and stats. You will be working very closely on an intimate subject with this person so being completely comfortable is key!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I felt somewhere in the middle. I dont believe its anything against her. My original RE left the practice as I was starting my first IUI so I got assigned to Dr. Ahmad. I unfortunately never got to meet her before my treatments - staff stated she would just be overseeing everything but following my previous REs protocol he had put in place. Having never done this before I thought nothing of it. It wasnt until right before our 3rd IUI failed that I met with her and she was straightforward and knowledgeable but felt like a complete stranger to me. I wish we had been able to "get to know" before that time. She stated trying a 4th IUI would be ok but with the first RE he recommended moving on after 3 so I informed her I wanted to follow through with that protocol. She was open to my desires with my treatment and switched gears quickly and jumped right into discussing next steps which will be IVF. Since there is currently a pandemic no treatment has begun so I have had minimal interactions with her so that is all I can really say about her as a physician. My original RE highly recommended her so I do feel confident with her as my RE and I look forward to getting to know her better as we follow into further treatment.
Describe the protocols Asima Ahmad used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
For my first IUI 2.5 mg leteozole for 7 days followed by ovidrel shot and insemination was done. At my first monitoring appt it was found that 2.5mg wasnt enough so she upped it to 5mg letrozole. I ended up growing 3 mature follicles - her nurse told her to tell me to consider cancelling due to risks but if I wanted to we could proceed. My husband and I were fine with it and proceeded. That ended with negative pregnancy test. For our 2nd IUI we did 5mg letrozole right from the start for 7 days followed by ovidrel and insemination. My follicles were growing more slowly this time around - no reason was given as to why. I had one mature follicle. This resulted in another negative pregnancy test. For my 3rd IUI the protocol again remained the same 5mg letrozole for 7 days followed by ovidrel. this time 2 follicles grew to be mature but also ended in negative pregnancy test

Describe the costs associated with your care under Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Office visits before insurance were around 235 for 15 minutes or a half hour I believe. My IUI including medication was around 800-900 that's with insurance. For IVF I was quoted 7300 not including medication and outside lab fees. I chose genetic testing which they have a flat fee of 2600. Freezing sperm is a flat fee of 600 followed by quarterly payments of 200. Freezing and storing embryos is a flat fee of 1500 for the first time/year.
The doctor [Dr. Asima Ahmad] is wonderful, she is very kind and easy to talk too. She always explains each step in detail and is quick to answer all my questions. She preformed my embryo transfer and also did the IUI, but did not do the egg retrieval. I like her as a person and as a doctor and feel very comfortable speaking to her about my situation and asking her questions....I started this process with medication and trying timed intercourse which did not work. We then moved onto one IUI cycle which also failed, and the doctor recommended moving right to IVF because IUI's didn't seem very likely to work with my situation (I have PCOS).
I communicate mostly with nurses [at Fertility Centers of Illinois]. My nurses have been changed on me twice with no notice and it leaves me feeling very unimportant and like I need to re-explain my entire situation. I don't feel like I have a great connection with my clinic as I hear a lot of other women do. There have also been quite a few times where they call me and seem very short and have no sympathy. I feel like the money aspect is more important to them then actually getting results and that is incredibly frustrating.

Ask to speak directly to her when they call you. As I stated earlier the nurses handle the majority of the phone calls and regular visits which I understand, but she seemed much more compassionate and involved then the nurses, and I think asking to speak with her directly would make a patient feel more comfortable and confident with whats happening.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
When I am speaking directly to the doctor I feel like a human, however most of the time I do not actually see or speak with her, I communicate mostly with nurses. We then moved onto one IUI cycle which also failed, and the doctor recommended moving right to IVF because IUI's didn't seem very likely to work with my situation (I have PCOS). I then started the IVF cycle and had the retrieval done and we got 17 eggs, 6 of which turned into embryos. I had a fresh transfer done which unfortunately failed as well. I have had 2 cancelled IVF transfers now one due to a change in insurance and the second one cancelled because my body quit responding to the medication and my lining wasn't thick enough. After that I went back in and had a consultation with the doctor and we are going to try a different medication protocol using only injectables and then doing the frozen transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Yes, but it has changed multiple times.)
The receptionist was so rude and short with me every time I called that I ended up putting in a complaint. She now seems more pleasant but I'm sure its because she got talked too. The nurses are nice but when I am called with results it seems rushed and there's not much emotion. And as I have stated my nurse has been changed on me multiple times with no notice and that is very frustrating. This situation is so hard mentally, emotionally, physically AND financially; no woman should have to deal with a rude or crabby staff member.
Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
The best advice I can give another patient starting this process is to be your own cheerleader. Voice any and all questions and concerns, no matter what they are. Call them 20 times a day if that's what it takes. This is your body and your baby, you have every right to know exactly what is going on and why its going on. After all, you're paying an arm and a leg for all of this so speak up. The center itself is very clean and pleasant, the staff is nice, but you have to speak up for yourself because they can be very short. I wish they would work on making a better connection with their patients and call them for more then just mandatory results and to remind them to pay their bill (I think that is so sh*tty.)
Describe the costs associated with your care under Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I've spent about $5,000 so far. I don't know an exact amount.
Describe Asima Ahmad's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
For my situation my doctor has so far recommended only transferring one embryo at a time. She told me I have a very high risk of conceiving multiples and she wanted to cut down on that as it can be dangerous for myself and the babies. If this next frozen transfer does not work I will have some tests done and then we will discuss transferring 2 embryos.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
There was one appointment I went in for, for ultrasound and bloodwork to monitor before my upcoming transfer, and no one ever called me with the results. I had to call them myself the next day and whoever answered the phone sounded annoyed and didn't seem to think it was a big deal. That made me very mad. Also with my last IVF transfer that was cancelled, I still cant believe how unsympathetic the nurse was about it. After taking all the medication and going to appointments every week just to have her call two days before the transfer and say "yeah sorry we have to cancel." like it was no big deal, it was really hard. I was so frustrated that the nurse didn't even seem to care. They really need to learn how to make better connections with their patients. It's not like they only see us once every few months or once a year like a regular doctor, we are there EVERY week, for months or even years and spend thousands of dollars there, they least they can do is show compassion. That is my biggest complaint with this place.
Dr. Ahmad recommended single embryo transfers due to my age and infertility cause... listened to our concerns and was always available to talk to us regarding any questions that we had. She talked to us in a professional manner always clear on the treatment choices and options that we had regarding the plan of care. She was flexible in meeting with us after a first failed IVF so we could have a better piece of mind...
I underwent an egg retrieval [at Fertility Centers of Illinois] that resulted in a freeze all due to high estrogen levels because of PCOS...Sahar [nurse] provided excellent instructions throughout my treatment at FCI. She was always available by phone or the patient portal (email) if I had any questions or concerns...Diane, with scheduling, is excellent and has such a good rapport with the patients that it makes things less stressful. The machine works like a well oiled machine, but maintains a personal touch even though they are busy. Patty, with ultrasound, is very sweet and caring making you feel uncomfortable as you get countless transvaginal ultrasounds. The ladies with bloodwork, especially Allison, are excellent. I can say that I had less bruises than I thought because they were so great at their jobs!

Dr. Ahmad listened to our concerns and was always available to talk to us regarding any questions that we had. She talked to us in a professional manner always clear on the treatment choices and options that we had regarding the plan of care. She was flexible in meeting with us after a first failed IVF so we could have a better piece of mind.
Describe the protocols Asima Ahmad used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Underwent three failed IUIs, with the one first one in the downtown office and the final two at my home office in Warrenville. After this, I underwent an egg retrieval that resulted in a freeze all due to high estrogen levels because of PCOS. Dr. Ahmad wanted to wait before an embryo transfer due to the risk of OHSS. Underwent a frozen 5 day embryo transfer using Lupron protocol, which resulted in failed IVF #1. After that, underwent a 2nd frozen 5 day embryo transfer following estrogen protocol which resulted in a positive pregnancy test.

Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
FCI Warrenville provides excellent and flexible times in the morning during plan of care, which is especially convenient for people having to work full-time. It hardly ever affected my work schedule which made is easier and less stressful for me. Diane, with scheduling, is excellent and has such a good rapport with the patients that it makes things less stressful. Describe Asima Ahmad's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Dr. Ahmad recommended single embryo transfers due to my age and infertility cause.
Dr Ahmad is a very informative doctor that will talk to you in a way that most doctors are unable to. She has an easy going personality but is very determined to assist you with having a great outcome. You will feel this way your first time meeting her. She has a big heart and is very passionate about her work...my husband and I were educated on both single versus multiple embryo transfers. We are currently in this stage.
She [nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois] has been a great part of our journey throughout this whole process. Sahar has such a down to earth personality that is so welcoming that the times I came in anxious into the office she made me feel calm and positive. She is also detailed and organized to the tenth degree...Due to our personal issue Dr. Ahmad and Sahar have and are assisting us with medicine. Their generosity is what helped us be able to move onto the second IVF retrieval.
How was your experience with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Ahmad is like no other doctor my husband and I have ever met. She comes off as very genuine and down to earth. Every time we have met with Dr. Ahmad whether the news was bad or great, we know that she truly did all that she could to give us the best outcome. My first round of shots ended with not being able to go to retrieval due to the follicles not growing at the same rate. Though that news was upsetting, she spoke openly to us and explained why and how we would have a better outcome especially knowing how my body now reacted to certain medicines. The news that she had to present to us was difficult but by her telling us straight forward yet being empathetic made my husband and I proceed further with her. The second round of IVF I made it to retrieval yet after genetic testing all came back abnormal. We talked to her about how upsetting the news was and it was by talking to Dr Ahmad that made us proceed again. We took about a month to mentally take a break, but it was her that made us feel good about trying again. Recently I just had my retrieval with a great outcome of 6 embryos that came back normal from genetic testing! My husband and I are truly grateful to have Dr Ahmad with us throughout this difficult journey that we have been on.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Walking into this clinic with my husband was both emotionally draining and made us both highly anxious. Every person that we talked to at the clinic made us feel as if our decision for this specific clinic was the best choice. Everyone was and has been very down to earth and truly genuine. I am very grateful that my husband and I are going through our IVF process here.
Describe the protocols Asima Ahmad used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Per my first retrieval I used Gonal F whereas on this second retrieval I used Follistim which produced a positive outcome of 6 embryos. She watched closely to all my levels, especially estrogen. Estrogen was something that kept increasing and i had to change the units per medicine at times.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Nurse Sahar Kohistani)
My husband and I are truly appreciative of Sahar K! She has been a great part of our journey throughout this whole process. Sahar has such a down to earth personality that is so welcoming that the times I came in anxious into the office she made me feel calm and positive. She is also detailed and organized to the tenth degree. The charts she makes me are so straightforward and easy to read it becomes one less thing to worry about when going through IVF. At times when I worked with other nurses per the downtown location I could not wait to talk to Sahar. Her way of stating information and explaining was different from the others. She is very genuine and empathetic. When going through rounds of IVF it takes a toll on one emotionally and mentally that I can say my husband are truly appreciative of everything she has done for us. From her promptness to answering my questions when anxiety was high to being empathetic when a round failed genetic testing. We are so thankful and blessed to have Sahar as our nurse throughout this whole journey!
Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
From the minute you walk into the door you are greeted by Diane who sets the tone for the office. Her positive, genuine personality is very welcoming. Your receptionist is someone you will have to work with every time and we are grateful she is so sweet and prompt. I also met with Patty and Allie throughout my rounds of IVF. At times they were the only two I saw during appointments due to needing an ultrasound and blood work. Both are the most sincere and positive people. For being 7am when I usually see them they are so easy to talk to and at times pretty funny! A personality that you will thank especially for being so early in the morning! All three are such caring individuals that again we are lucky to have chosen such a great clinic. Its an atmosphere that I never thought I would encounter during this process. For all of them, we are thankful!

During our second round of IVF my husband was laid off. We are still paying cobra for both of us due to his insurance covering some of the costs. Due to our personal issue Dr. Ahmad and Sahar have and are assisting us with medicine. Their generosity is what helped us be able to move onto the second IVF retrieval.
Describe Asima Ahmad's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Yes my husband and I were educated on both single versus multiple embryo transfers. We are currently in this stage.
Rushed out of all consults. Didn't go over anything in detail. Laughed at my questions. Didn't take time to hear me out about what's been going on with my body. ... After several rounds of nothing working, she [Dr. Ahmad] ended up telling me that she was out of options for me. ... My amazing nurse, Shanon, actually came up with my protocol ... I would also like to feel more secure in her drive to get me pregnant...I'm not sure how motivated she is.
No compassion at the front desk [Fertility Centers of Illinois]. Overall the office seems very cold. ... I did feel like a number there. Most of my ultrasounds were done by Cathy. She is very sweet and kind. ... Blood draw staff were nice and didn't hurt when poking. I can't remember the name of the girl who did my IUI's but she was very nice as well. ... I did that 3 times for IUI, but they all failed. Now I'm on to IVF.
How was your experience with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
After several rounds of nothing working, she ended up telling me that she was out of options for me. My amazing nurse, Shanon, actually came up with my protocol and it worked! Dr. Ahmad is very sweet and seems very caring, but when it came time for me to ask my questions, I think she responded poorly many times...not always, but often she would laugh or just give a quick answer that made it seem like what I brought up wasn't really a valid point. I would also like to feel more secure in her drive to get me pregnant...I'm not sure how motivated she is. I would also like to see statistics specific to someone with my conditions and she work with such patients as far as what I might expect and what results I may see.

I tried Gonal-F shots for 2 rounds, but my follicles never grew. Then I did 5 days of Femara and 2-3 days of Menopur (150iu) and was able to get my follicles to grow. I did that 3 times for IUI, but they all failed. Now I'm on to IVF.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Shanon Shroeder)
Shanon was amazing, sadly I just found out that she left FCI. :( She came up with my protocol and would always help me out trying to find meds b/c she knew I was 100% self pay. I'm unsure who is going to come in now, and FCI never gave us a heads up as to her leaving, so I'm pretty scared about who's going to come in.

No compassion at the front desk. Overall the office seems very cold. Dr. Ahmad wasn't super compassionate either. Shanon is amazing to work with. I did feel like a number there. Most of my ultrasounds were done by Cathy. She is very sweet and kind. She always had suckers there for my daughter. Blood draw staff were nice and didn't hurt when poking. I can't remember the name of the girl who did my IUI's but she was very nice as well.
Dr. Ahmad has the best bedside manner. She was very thorough in explaining all of the testing, options, and treatment plans. She made it feel like the planning was a collaborative effort and was always realistic with our expectations. She never made us feel like "just a number" and always stated she was our biggest cheerleader. She made us feel like she truly cared in helping us start our family.
Very organized and personal. When I called in to schedule an appointment they [Fertility Centers of Illinois] knew who I was before I even stated my name. The front desk staff would address me by name and would always ask how my treatment plan is progressing. Kathy who does the Sonograms was amazing- she always answered all of my questions and really took her time. Our Nurse Michelle and Ahmad were great!

Organized- we worked with an IVF and Insurance Coordinator
I hardly ever saw her [Dr. Asima Ahmad] so I am not sure if she actually knows our infertility problems beyond the initial testing and the fact that our IUIs didn't work. I suspect I might have PCOS but she never looked much into it...IUIs using Femera. Currently using Lupron, Menopur, and Follistim for IVF. I have never received a reasoning why she chose these protocols...I just don't feel like I saw her enough to actually know. I usually talk to my nurse.
Had to cancel my first IUI [at Fertility Centers of Illinois] due to being given too high of a dose of medication. Also, I often have to ask for information because they don't give it very well...IUIs were around $3000-$4000. IVF is about $15000 with about $8000 in medications...She [Dr. Asima Ahmad] prefers to do one [embryo transfers] with us since we are young...I don't know if I feel like things are very personalized from patient to patient, but everyone is very nice to work with and helpful when we need it. I think they need better communication and explanations about things that will be happening and why.

She [Dr. Ahmad] was very personable and compassionate but she was not an endometriosis expert and should have referred me instead of trying to handle my extreme case herself without the knowledge or experience. She also does not do surgeries which is a red flag because she can’t physically diagnose endo, you have to go to another doctor to have surgery.
Strengths- small clinic [FCI], quick response times, easy access to doctor, loved Melody at the front desk. Short wait times in the waiting room. Great ultrasound tech Cathy and phlebotomist Crystal. Weakness-You have to go to multiple locations for different procedures. River north office for retrieval and transfers. Your doctor might not be the one performing procedures.

Dr. Ahmad should have referred me to an endo specialist instead of trying to “fix me” herself because she only made my endo worse by ignoring it and put me at risk by doing egg retrieval with massive endometriomas on my ovaries.

She [Dr. Asima Ahmad] went above and beyond to help me understand the process. As a self pay customer she also provided different grants and studies that were going on to help me with the cost...he mood was always light and not so serious, which helped me to relax in such a stressful situation...We just finished the evaluation. The outcome for us would be iui or Ivf...She was very understanding and helped me in every step of the way.

Ask as many questions as you like because she [Dr. Asima Ahmad] will take the time to explain what you need to know...Dr. Ahmad has a wealth of knowledge and completely took the time to explain the process to my husband and I. During my miscarriage she called me every day to ensure I was physically okay which meat alot to us. I am grateful for her level of support to our difficult time.
The front desk ladies were rude to me each time I arrived [at Fertility Centers of Illinois]. Because I have thick skin I ignore it until my second IUI. I had enough and called to complain. The process is stressful enough without the staff being rude. After my complaint they had a new attitude...I can not say enough about nurse Mitchell. Very knowledgeable and amazing bedside manner. She helped me when I wanted to give up on the process. Thank you!...

What specific things went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Asiam Ahmad gave a warm welcome to my partner and I. She was very open as if we met before. Dr. Ahmad presented herself in a very professional manner and very professional with communicating. Her personality gave me a feel of knowing she truly care and love her patients within and outside of her profession.
Being a new patient I've been in communication with the coordination team [at FCI]. They supplied all the information needed for my appointment with Dr. Ahmad. Details were given of any changes immediately. The communication to patient was very straightforward. The methods of contacts were used efficiently. Customer Service answered questions and concerns, as well as, gave excellent resources. I was given instructions on how to proceed with my appointment during this time. Yet, it could not have been in the office setting but telecommunication was very equivalent. The clinics have done everything to ensure patients get the same treatment and one on one time with their doctor. They have went above and beyond for their patients
How was your experience with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
My experience as a patient with Dr. Asima Ahmad was amazing. I have took time out to choose the doctor myself and Dr. Ahmad was the best doctor for my partner and I. I took time to read her profile entirely to ensure I have a clear understanding of who she was, her educational background, why she chose this field, and her passion to working within the fertility area. I love how passionate Dr. Ahmad is about her profession and what she do. At first I was kind of nervous about everything, from the consultation to the procedure. After reviewing her profile, she gave me a lot more confidence. Dr. Ahmad has a strong mind in everything. Her knowledge on every procedure that she has come across is quite powerful. With certain questions asked, she's able to tell you what procedure works best for you and your partner. She have strong beliefs of family planning and helping those who wants to start/complete their family. My partner and I have been planning to complete our family for about a year now. We are a couple of the same sex. I have done plenty of research on the different procedures offered. I came upon two different procedures that inspired me. One of the procedures was "IVF reciprocal" and the other is called "InvoCell." I read about these procedures on the Fertility Centers of Illinois. Although, both procedures helps in the same way, the InvoCell offers a more natural way. During my consultation with Dr. Ahmad, she gave detailed information and helped me understand the difference between the both. She answered questions and concerns from my partner and I with no hesitation or doubts. Dr. Asima Ahmad is a very strong individual. Her deliverance is exceptional. Her personality is amazing as she welcome her patients and help them throughout their journey. She also have a strong educational background and her passion for working in this to help those that may feel like it's impossible. Dr. Ahamd makes it possible. She a great coach. She gave my partner and I helpful resources to help guide us through our journey. I don't feel like Dr. Ahmad had any weakness. Everything about her and what stands behind her name is STRONG! Dr. Asima Ahmad was simple amazing!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
The different components of the cost of treatment for the procedure is IVF($10,000-$15,000) and Invocell($7,000). Invocell is more cost efficient because it a more natural way. Not so much of in laboratory work. IVF requires more laboratory work, doctor visits, and more medications.
Describe Asima Ahmad's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Dr. Ahmad had a strong preference on multiple embryo transfer. She stated that although some embryos are mature enough to be placed inside the uterus, some things can possibly happen where it can lead to not being able to fully develop. If you consider using a single embryo in this situation, the worst case is that you would have to go through the procedure all over again. If multiples are placed, one may be more mature than the other giving a higher chance of a positive pregnancy and/or a chance of multiple births.
Every time I’ve seen her [Dr. Ahmad] she always has a smile on her face. I’ve had to bring my son in with me one I’ve had a procedure done and she was talking to him and just being very friendly while doing my procedure. This second transfer I just did, Was unsuccessful so I go in next week to meet with her to see where we go from here. I can’t honestly point out any weaknesses just yet.
The location of the clinic [Fertility Centers of Illinois] is great, easy to get in and out. There is plenty of parking available. I feel like for the most part you don’t wait any longer than 10-15mins from your apt time. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Weaknesses I feel like sometimes calls are not returned and it’s up to you to follow up with another phone call. Other than that I feel like the clinic is ran well.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I always tell my friends that I’m referring to be upfront and honest and ask any question that comes to mind. If the doctor your are dealing with does not answer your questions throughly or gives you the vibe that they aren’t taking you seriously, you need to move on. This process is way to draining and to end up with a doctor you are unsure about or doesn’t give you good vibes is just not worth it. Find your match. I can honestly say so far I feel very comfortable with my decision of seeing Dr. Ahmad.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Asima Ahmad at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
My first impression of Dr. Ahmad was great, she’s wonderful very warm and yet upfront and honest. This was my second transfer, but first with Dr. Ahmad. This last transfer I did not feel like my office/ nurse was organized. Sometimes I would call and not get a call back. Other times they would call and would be a little lost on what my next steps would be. Asking me what I have and haven’t done. Overall, the environment in the office was very friendly most of the same staff from when my previous doctor was there. I feel like maybe they are still trying to work out a few kinks with a new doctor coming in.
Describe the protocols Asima Ahmad used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
So this past transfer Dr. Ahmad used to the same protocol as my last Dr. because it was successful. I started on BC for a few weeks then started Lupron shots( dosage was different /lower from my first transfer. Im unsure why but I plan on asking next week). Then from that we started estrogen patches and vaginal inserts along with progesterone inserts. The week of transfer we started progesterone in oil. It was a lot but because it worked my first transfer we figured we would try it again, but we were unsuccessful this time.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Michelle)
So my first and second transfer was the same nurse. The first round I thought she was on top of her game very organized. The second round I felt like things were a little out of sorts. I wasn’t always getting call backs when I requested them. Had an issue with medicine not being ordered I also felt like because I had done this before she felt like she wasn’t as clear with directions as she was the first round. It could all be because of the change in doctors , we’ll see how the third round goes in a couple weeks.

I think this last round of treatment was just under $3,000.
Describe Asima Ahmad's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Because I was able to get pregnant I was just miscarrying because of genetic issues with embryo, they only recommended transferring one embryo. With my first successful pregnancy I ended up with severe preeclampsia at 35 weeks which resulted in an emergency c-section. I totally understand why they one want to transfer one rather then two embryos in my case.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I didn’t realize until the day I had to start my estradiol that it was never ordered by my nurse. It was both our mistakes because she does send a chart by email with what day you start and stop what medicine. I knew I had to take Estradiol but when I saw endometrium in the medicine delivery I for some reason thought it was the same thing until the day I had to start and realized it was never ordered. So I had to call and have an on call nurse order it to my local pharmacy.
