The strategy he set is to start your birth control pills in your gonal 300 units in there is one more I can’t think off to get your body prepared for the egg retrieval you take once a day one between 6-10 am in the other at 6-10 pm and your trigger shot 72 hr before your egg retrieval antibiotics before I’m after I’m sure of your egg retrieval is done. Take everything nice in easy then he gave me a month of grace period for my body to relax from all the medication depending your transfer day you start your next set of medication 6-10 am and 6-10 pm of injection into your muscular area you also start your prenatal pills as well continue your birth control pills in folic acid pills . I then started my estradiol Valerate and progesterone medication for the transfer and was requested to get plenty of rest after just relax in bed for 3 days continuing the medication till 9 weeks pregnant. In wait 20 days after to fo a pregnancy test in let them know the results then they schedule me in for a blood test in progesterone level test to confirm . Then aching next ultrasound appointment for further confirmation everything is going correctly.

They only inform me to start my Trigger shot through email when I felt that was a very certain important to give a call for that update
He [Dr. Acacio] is very blunt and can be very rude...When I asked him to have a more specialized plan for me and not use birth controls he said he did’nt have time and resource for all that...There was no rationale he put me on short protocol with birth control pills although my ovarian reserve was very low. After his failure he put me on a disastrous long protocol which killed every reserve that I had. When I talked to my current doctor I realized those birth controls and that long protocol suppressed me so much and was not a smart move (I spoke to two other doctors after him and they all agreed)...
They [Acacio Fertility Center] batch patients meaning everyone starts birth controls at the same time and everyone will have one day of retrieval...They were very warm in the beginning but if you ask questions they will make fun of you...When I asked him [Dr. Acacio] to have a more specialized plan for me and not use birth controls he said he did’nt have time and resource for all that...
How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
He doesn’t care about specific needs of each patient. They batch patients meaning everyone starts birth controls at the same time and everyone will have one day of retrieval which is horrible. I didn’t know it back then but I know how horrible is to put a patient with DOR on birth controls just to delay their ovulation. He did it and he ruined my only chance of becoming a mother for ever. I will never ever forgive him for that. When I started with him I had 9 follicles to start with. His treatments caused me to have almost none now. There are way better doctors out there. Don’t go to him! Do yourself a favor
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Do NOT go to him. If you are like me and don’t have that much reserved eggs don’t have him kill your only remaining ones!!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
They were very warm in the beginning but if you ask questions they will make fun of you IN FRONT OF YOU! Also they do batching meaning there is no patient specification which is a death sentence for eggs in a DOR person!

Describe your experience with Acacio Fertility Center.
There is no benefit. If you want to regret for the rest of your life see him. When he is clueless as what to do and how to treat you he puts all the blame on you, your age and ovarian reserve. Well if all was well I wouldn’t go to him at all! He is very blunt and can be very rude. He obviously make fun of you and raise his voice at you especially the times that he knows he is at fault. If the case is very easy and no especial thinking is required he might be an ok doctor but if you have DOR or have a especial case don’t waste your time and money with him. When I asked him to have a more specialized plan for me and not use birth controls he said he did’nt have time and resource for all that. So when he admits this go to a doctor who cares for you and not just your money. I have a doctor now who answer to all of my questions via text messages and cares enough for me to make a very special and researched plan for me

How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Aside from Dr taking about my weight I was hardly treated as a patient and more so as a child to be talked down to. I was told I was so young and could take clomid to ovulate and I would likely end up pregnant. My irregular periods (2-4x a year at most), my ectopic pregnancy that led to surgery on my right tube, and trying to conceive for 6 years with no success was never a topic of discussion. I was made small and my husband who has motility issues (who is also overweight) was “perfect” and was told as long as you don’t smoke, drink, or bicycle is solid and motility is not a huge factor.

It’s hard to say what I felt more but I can definitely tell you I left very confused. I am overweight and my weight was made a focus during my consultation. I was told my “weight” was not a big deal, just a topic of conversation as if I wasn’t aware I was over weight. I was told to try medicine regimen of injections that could help lose weight if combined with metformin. Doctor didn’t really say much other than my weight, the benefits of losing weight and a potential PCOS diagnosis.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Acacio Fertility Center.
All of my information, history, insurance was sent to the office and somehow nobody knew who I was or what I sent it. Mind you they make you fax over everything before even receiving a consultation. Nurses were running back and fourth to figure out when my LMP was and fiddling through paperwork. I was told I did not have coverage at all and I had to pay for everything out of pocket. I have two insurances and a benefit package for infertility through my work so this was false and told me I had to call HR to figure it out

I have had a really good experience, despite not having the results I was hoping for. He [Dr. Brian Acacio] genuinely cares about me as a human and with every miscarriage that I have had, you can tell that it breaks his heart just as much as it does mine and my husband. I feel like since his clinic has gotten larger, he has not been as hands on, but still is very involved in treatment.
For the most part the [Acacio Fertility Center] clinic is very friendly and rooting for you. It is a small clinic so they give you lots of attention and are always there to answer your questions. If you aren’t going through active treatment, sometimes it is hard to get ahold of them, but continue to call/email and they will answer your questions though.

I had an intense protocol of Gonal-F, Cetrotide, Menopur, and trigger for retrieval to get as many mature eggs as possible. For transfers, I had injections of estradiol Tuesdays and Fridays and injections of progesterone daily. I also had intralipids a week before transfer to deactivate my natural killer cells to help with implantation/prevent my body of rejecting the embryos transferred

Make sure to do your research on options or risks of treatments. While Dr. Acacio has never hidden any information from us, it does sometimes feel sugar coated when discussing any potential risks. We have not minded this style because we always make sure to specifically ask about anything we are concerned about. I personally appreciate the positivity.

my wife and I had been trying to build a family for about 5 years prior to seeing Dr. Acacio. We had gone through the diagnostics and treatments of 2 seperate fertility clinics with no positive results and only bad memories...We were "all in", one last time. Heading into our first appointment, our expectations were low given our prior experiences at other clinics. We could not have been more wrong. He thoroughly reviewed our medical history with us present, paying attention to every detail. Being physicians familiar with seeing new patients, the amount of time he spent developing a specific diagnostic and treatment plan to our case was striking. His bedside manner immediately struck us as exceptional and he went above and beyond all expectations we had heading in. As our case proceeded, changes and adjustments were made appropriately with his medical expertise. It

Total opposite experience with Dr. Acacio [at Acacio Fertility Center]...At our prior clinics, we had countless appointments where, walking out of the office, we would be holding back tears, only to break down in the parking lot while scrambling to the car. My wife and I were amazed that no matter what happened, we left every visit with Dr. Acacios office and staff feeling better, even when the news was less than stellar. Without getting into the details, 7 months have passed since that first appointment and we are blessed to be almost 12 weeks pregnant with our first child. The entire process was a 5 star experience. How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
It is difficult to write reviews for fertility clinics since there is so much inherent bias in terms of whether or not one recieves a positive outcome. My wife and I, both physicians, understand that online reviews are largely skewed in this regard and tend to focus on things like "customer service" and factors that are somewhat irrelevant to the quality of the medical care received. In our case, however, there is no choice but to give Dr. Acacio and his staff 5 stars.
Briefly, my wife and I had been trying to build a family for about 5 years prior to seeing Dr. Acacio. We had gone through the diagnostics and treatments of 2 seperate fertility clinics with no positive results and only bad memories. After years of emotional rollercoasters, tears, false hope, exhaustion, and an increasing sense of resignation, we decided to switch clinics one more time before moving on with our lives. We had heard of Dr. Acacio through word of mouth and online publicity. Based out of Fresno and mainly working out of the Bakersfield office, committing to the time and logistics of arranging our care from hundreds of miles away was worth, in our opinion, the peace of mind knowing we were seeing someone so highly regarded in the reproductive endocrine field. We were "all in", one last time.
It was clear to both of us that he is passionate, attentive to details, and attune to the difficult emotional tolls that fertility treatments can levy. At our prior clinics, we had countless appointments where, walking out of the office, we would be holding back tears, only to break down in the parking lot while scrambling to the car. My wife and I were amazed that no matter what happened, we left every visit with Dr. Acacios office and staff feeling better, even when the news was less than stellar.

We would highly recommend Dr. Acacio to anyone struggling to build a family. We are blessed to have been able to afford the time, money, and effort, and couldn't be happier. Every case is different, and there are no guarantees in health care, but put us in the category of a couple who started with almost no hope, and now are blessed to have the experience of a pregnancy for the first time. Good luck to you all, and we hope that you will consider our experience in your decisions.

Shared decision making after discussing risks and benefits.
I hardly saw Dr. Acacio. I only saw him at consultation, retrieval, and meetings are failed cycles. He gives his email during consultation and says you can contact him anytime. I emailed him with questions once and I had to follow-up with him as he didn’t respond the first time...uses birth control and calendars so that patients are bunched together. He gives a good song and dance about the reason for using birth control, but for those over 40 or with diminished ovarian reserve, it doesn’t really make sense. Using birth control also means that you have to wait to start a new cycle.
I never felt really comfortable at this clinic [Acacio Fertility Center]. I didn't feel like my questions or concerns were really addressed, but instead felt like Dr. Acacio and Sylvia were condescending. I unfortunately chose a 2-cycle plan, which I seriously regret, because I would have left after the first cycle if I hadn't already paid for the second...Long waits in the waiting room; nurses who didn’t know my history; no contact with Dr. Acacio.

Communication is mainly via email. I would get calls with fertilization results from nurses. One nurse who called me didn’t even seem to really understand what she was telling me, and could not answer my questions since she didn’t understand them. The main nurse, Sylvia, is overworked as she does practically everything, so she is always rushed.

What specific things went wrong at Acacio Fertility Center?
Dr. Acacio does a wonderful job of not just assessing the situation and coming up with a plan, but takes the time to discuss and explain the process. His answers are not sugar coated, but allows you to feel like you have an informational and real understanding of everything.... During our first cycle we did go through all the questions and assessments, they all came back perfectly normal. So based on my PCOS he created a customized plan. Now that we had a miscarriage we had more in depth testing done and discovered that I have MTHFR and a high count of Negative Killer Cell’s. So our plan has been adjusted to accommodate my needs.
For the most part the team [Acacio Fertility Center] would come together to correct any issues. The nursing team has been really friendly, and invested in our program. They are amazing!... they have an ability to not make you feel like a number, their office is friendly and everyone is involved in your journey. Weakness I would say is that some times communication styles are not the same, and their paperwork could be updated. (I come from a marketing background so that may just be me.)

With our blood results that were ordered to understand if I have MTHFR and Negative Killer Cells, there was not call for results and we had to call in later on to schedule an appointment to review. They ended up ordering our medications for our transfer cycle before we met with the doctor, and expected us to have contacted out health insurance for information we didn’t know they needed (since we didn’t have the meeting yet.)
He [Dr. Acacio] was never pushy on any procedures and sat down with us before and after all the failed attempts. He was very sensitive and allowed us to take breaks in between treatments. He showed that he really and cried with us during a loss and when we finally had success....
Initially I had a laparoscopy to remove some of my endometriosis and adhesions. Has 3 failed iui. Went in for hysteroscopy. 3 failed embryo transfer with intralipids on the last one. 3rd transfer was a success but ended in an ectopic. Had another laparoscopic surgery. Noticed my Fallopian tubes were damaged. Had a bilateral salpingectomy before my 4th transfer with intralipids

Very busy but always answered the phone. Bakersfield location is open 5 days but the doctor is only there 2-3 days out of the week and do major procedures in Laguna Nigel. Labs and basic ultrasounds can be done in the Bakersfield location.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center.
First 3 rounds of IVF group plan was approximately 15K not including genetic testing after 6 embryos and a fee for storage of frozen embryos after 1 year. Medications were also not included in the 15K plan. I probably spent 1-2K in medications.
Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.
It was our choice. Whatever we were comfortable with. He did advise against 3 embryo transfers at once but willing to do it if you are adamant but understood the risk of multiples

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Acacio Fertility Center.
I had signed some consent forms in the Bakersfield office prior to one of my transfers. The Bakersfield office failed to send it to the Laguna Nigel office prior to our appointment which meant we had to sign all the consent forms all over again (which was a thick packet).
Because of my PCOS, Dr. Acacio took measures to help reduce/prevent me from developing OHSS. My body reacted very quickly to the stims medication. He fully anticipated me developing OHSS. Inspite of everyone's best efforts, I did develop a mild case of OHSS and I was seen in his office immediately (which happened to be on a Sunday). I was given an ultrasound which showed fluid starting to build up in my uterus
There are two offices [for Acacio Fertility Center] and we visited both on many occasions. Both offices are warm and inviting. Everyone is well organized and knows you by name and face. I always got the sense that everyone works well together, like a well oiled machine. Their equipment is new and well cared for and they are prepared for any situation that may arise during treatment.
How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Dr. Acacio is knowledgeable, personable, sensitive, and understanding. He always took as much time as we needed to explain any procedures we needed and to answers all of our questions. We never felt rushed when we were with him. When we were first diagnosed, Dr. Acacio called us after hours to go over our test results, answer our questions, and reassure us that we were all a team and that he was there to help us reach our dreams of becoming parents.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Don't be shy about asking questions- he's the type of doctor who shows mutual respect of your time and concerns.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Dr. Acacio and his whole staff always went above and beyond to get to know us personally. We were always greeted with a smile and inquiries on how we were doing. The whole staff knew our faces and made us feel like family.

Inspite of everyone's best efforts, I did develop a mild case of OHSS and I was seen in his office immediately (which happened to be on a Sunday). I was given an ultrasound which showed fluid starting to build up in my uterus. After discussion with Dr. Acacio, we opted for fluids and bedrest. A day or two later, I required more fluids and a procedure to drain the fluid that had built up, which was also done in his office. Dr. Acacio and his nurses acted swiftly and with great care. We all knew going into retrieval that the possibility of developing OHSS was high and I felt well cared for the whole time.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Acacio Fertility Center.
The nursing staff is completely amazing. They were all prompt in returning my calls and always sensitive to our situation. They were always encouraging, delighted in our successes, and consoled us when something didn't go according to plan.

We opted to purchase one of their IVF packages and believe that we saved some money by doing so.
Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.
We were given plenty of opportunity to discuss the risks and benefits of transferring 1 embryo versus 2 embryos. In the end, as a couple, we decided that we would transfer 2 embryos and we are very thankful that we did.
He [Dr. Acacio] was great at the beginning of our treatment but after 2 years of seeing him, he was no longer patient, empathetic or open to partnering with me on changes to my protocol. He is good at communicating in lay terms and seeking compassionate after a loss but is also very cocky...His office and staff are wonderful but you will rarely see Dr Acacio unless you book a special appt with him and wait a few weeks or are having a complication.
The clinic [Acacio Fertility Center] is nice and clean with a comfortable lobby and modern equipment. Parking is easy and they have weekend availability during cycles....They [the nurses] were all wonderful under the direction of Sylvia the manager who you can reach on her cell phone after hours. They also do all ultrasounds, call with results and adjust protocols....I believe it was approx $10k for the retrieval and I transfer, $4k for the PGS testing, $5k for the first round of meds, $3k for each FET plus meds.

We were treated very well by the nurses and staff but not by the doctor. He talked down to us, got defensive when asked questions and was very rude to us at our last appt and we have never gone back.
Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I think he used a pretty standard protocol for me with birth control and Lupron and with each FET he would add additional meds like Heparin, viagara suppositories etc.

Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.
He will agree to transfer one of two embryos, he leaves it up to the patient.
Ego aside I think he's [Dr. Acaio] a really good doctor who is immune treatment friendly, which is hard to find!...I liked him for the most part....Good bedside manner and he explained all the steps of the process when he was doing it (like ultrasound scans and embryo transfer)....2 embryo banking cycles using Antagonist protocol with plans to do PGS testing... we changed from Bravelle to Gonal-F and Menopur( Per my request and previous positive experience with Gonal-F ). Dr. Acacio wanted to stim an extra 2 days in hopes to get all follicles up to speed.
Cost was one of the reasons we chose this clinic [Aacio Fertility]. $20k for 2 stim cycles with PGS testing including as many transfers as it may take for a positive result....Kate is blunt and seems very overwhelmed and busy. No time for sweet talk. She's not overly friendly or compassionate although she will do what she can to help you out. I was in a bind with my insurance expiring the day that I needed to order medications and she expedited the prescription call in which saved me hundreds of dollars. The other nurses in the office are nice but again, not overly friendly.
How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
I liked him for the most part. He's got a bit of an ego, but every RE I've come across does. Our 1st retrieval with him was our first ever success so I do appreciate him. Good bedside manner and he explained all the steps of the process when he was doing it (like ultrasound scans and embryo transfer).

Nurses are not overly friendly or welcoming (mostly back in 2015). Felt like a number to some degree. They're not necessarily rude just not happy to see to us.
Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
2 embryo banking cycles using Antagonist protocol with plans to do PGS testing and a FET with "normal" embryo. 1st cycle we used Bravelle and Menopur as stims. We got 8 eggs -3 blasts for PGS testing.
2nd cycle we changed from Bravelle to Gonal-F and Menopur( Per my request and previous positive experience with Gonal-F ). Dr. Acacio wanted to stim an extra 2 days in hopes to get all follicles up to speed. We ended up getting 10 eggs - all 10 were mature and fertilized and made it to blast for testing! Having DOR, this was a HUGE success already!!
So, out of 13 embryos tested 3 came back PGS normal.

We first tried the regular protocol (long) to start but my ovaries weren't responding well and my follicles wouldn't grow, so we resulted in using short protocols. Although I have I diminished ovarian reserve my body was able to respond well most of the time and produce a fairly decent amount of follicles. But there were a couple cycles where I just wouldn't respond at all which then resulted in cancelled cycles. I also have PCOS so I'm sure that was partly an issue.

Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.
Dr. Acacio has never pushed for a single embryo transfer over a multiple embryo transfer. He let us decide on how many we preferred to transfer, but I do know he does not feel comfortable transferring more than 4 at a time. Usually bases the embryo transfer count on age and how well he feels one will respond.
He [Dr. Acacio] is so kind and he and his wife have gone through fertility treatments also so he is really understanding. He is very down to earth and understands how hard it is and expensive it is and is very upfront and clear about that!... He is such a caring doctor and really involved in the process. He has FREE consultations and open houses so you can meet him, talk with him and figure out what you would do, and meet the staff... Which is amazing because nothing about infertility is free!
Strengths: so organized, they [Acacio Fertility Ctr] are very scheduled because they only do cycles two weeks of the month and then clean everything the next two weeks. Big strength was that they had places we could go for ultrasounds and everything but the procedures at an office close to us. Weaknesses: it was really far away for the procedures. But they are fantastic and I highly recommend them!... Base price was $9500 plus medication.

Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
So I super overstimulated... Which I will explain, but it started off as a fresh embryo cycle... So that's why my treatment plan is such:
BC for 14 days
10 days in I started:
Lupron 10U (for 5 days and then after that I just took 5U), prenatals, dexamethasone, and folic acid
19 days in I had my baseline ultrasound, blood work, and estradoil once a week.
CD2 I started Follistim 150U and Menopur 1 vial and continued with Lupron, prenatal, dexamethasone 0.75mg, and folic acid.
CD9 I had another ultrasound and blood work...I had my HCG shot that day too
CD10 was my egg retrieval. They retrieved 105 eggs.... That's very abnormal. I really overstimulated. And as such my ovaries needed a break and to heal. So we had to cancel the fresh cycle and do a Frozen embryo transfer. So I drank a TON of Gatorade and water to help my ovaries so they wouldn't rupture... Thankfully they didn't. So after my cycle started again I started BC again, after 7 days I started Lupron 10U (for 5 days and then went down to 5U), dexamethasone, prenatal, folic acid, and metformin.
After 10 days I had an ultrasound and blood work. Then I started delestrogen twice a week. CD14 I had another ultrasound and they told me to just take the Lupron for 5 more days but continue with the rest.
Then CD15 I started a z-pack and progesterone shots. On CD20 I had the transfer. We transferred 2. I continued taking dexamethasone, prenatal, folic acid, progesterone oils, delestrogen (twice a week), and started progesterone suppositories. 12 says after transfer I had a blood draw and they called and told me the results and then two days later I had another and they called told me the results and we found out that it way more than doubled. At 7 weeks we had an ultrasound and found out we were expecting twins! I started bleeding that night and I kind of freaked out and called the nurse and she really talked me down and the next day she performed another ultrasound and they were still completely fine and they were born healthy and are growing well!

Base price was $9500 plus medication. And then Frozen embryo cycle is normally $4500. We had little confusion about stopping the fresh cycle and starting the Frozen that he really discounted the Frozen and we were so grateful and in awe that he was understanding and helpful!
[Dr. Brian Acacio's] rationale was that this protocol which was used by my previous Dr seemed to work so we should stick with the same protocol. The only thing he changed was adding more gonal-F in the beginning and the Delegestrogen shots. For the first round we got 5 embryos that made it to day 6 and were frozen but all were chromosomally bad. The second round we got one embryo which did not make it to day 6.
More than once she [the nurse at Acacio Fertility Center] asked me to take notes during my ultrasound. I always felt like she had other things to get to and was always rushed. However, she always called me back if I had questions, even late at night...The staff at this clinic is disorganized and seem overwhelmed...nurse tried to give me an intralipid infusion (which this clinic will probably want you to do as well) but I was doing a frozen transfer and so it was not needed. It was confusing because I kept telling her that I was not supposed to have it and she insisted that I was until sylvia finally came and agreed with me. How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
He is very smart and has a lot of experience. He uses other patient stories as examples of what you might experience, which is helpful. He also comes out into the waiting room to greet you at your first appointment. On the weaker side- we agreed for our second cycle to repeat the same long protocol that we did for the first. I was surprised when the nurse sent me my calendar and it was different with different medications. That should have alerted me to schedule a follow up but I trusted that he knew what he was doing. That ended in a cancelled cycle, after which they charged me a fee. I was furious and I scheduled a phone call with him. He agreed with me that we were going to repeat the same protocol and did not have an answer to why the protocol was changed. He waived the fee and we went back to the original protocol and started over. It was clearly a mistake but I had already spent $3,000 on the drugs. Beware of mistakes like this with his staff- they are disorganized.
He also prescribed expensive prenatal vitamins to my husband and had him do multiple Halo semen analyses...the vitamins did not change anything and I've since learned that the halo tests do not make a big difference if you use ICSI, which we did with all of our IVF cycles.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Though Dr. Acacio is clearly intelligent and seems to be a great Doctor, in my opinion he has too many patients to handle and mistakes happen. He has a disorganized staff which make the overall experience at this clinic less than ok.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Dr. Acacio was very good at treating us like a human but the rest of the clinic and staff make you feel more like a number. We had good appointments with Dr. Acacio- he is smart and explains thing well. But we only saw him for the consult and the egg retrieval. The rest of the time was with the staff and they were not great.
Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did a long protocol with birth control pills, followed by Lupron and Folgard, followed by Cetrotide, followed by Gonol F (600 IU backing off to 300 IU) and Menopur (1vial throughout) and E2V Delegestrogen shots 2x/week. His rationale was that this protocol which was used by my previous Dr seemed to work so we should stick with the same protocol. The only thing he changed was adding more gonal-F in the beginning and the Delegestrogen shots. For the first round we got 5 embryos that made it to day 6 and were frozen but all were chromosomally bad. The second round we got one embryo which did not make it to day 6.

Also, one of the nurses tried 4 times to get my IV in for our first egg retrieval without success, which was stressful. Also, a nurse who ordered my medications (I think her name is Stephanie) in the beginning was clearly annoyed that I asked her to resend the medication list to a different pharmacy so that I could take part in a rebate. She said that normally they wouldn't do something like that but she would make an exception. Doing this saved me thousands of dollars. There are long wait times in the office as well. The list goes on and on!

Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.

I have ovarian cysts so he gave me a certain amount of egg stimulating hormones to make sure I didn't get overstimulated. We did genetic testing to make sure the embryos were chromosomally normal. We then transferred two embryos but I miscarried at 7 weeks. I had a blighted ovum.

Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.
Dr. Acacio informed me of the success rate of each and told me that he would recommend transferring two embryos
We have used Dr. Acacio twice for 2 rounds of IVF. We were successful each time. The minute we met in our first consultation, I was immediately comforted by his knowledge, care, and genuine concern. I knew he was the right doctor for us. He covered every concern, told us exactly what to expect, and never led us in with false hope. He was honest and trustworthy and exact in what he said and did. We love everything about Dr Acacio!
The best thing about the clinic [Acacio Fertility Center] is that everything is pretty much done on their site. Because I lived more than 60 miles from them during our second cycle, they would allow me to have blood work done at a location near me instead of having to drive to their office. Dr. Acacio does each major procedure himself and everything is kept onsite. Which means the chances for error or a lot lower than other clinics where “too many hands” are involved.

Dr. Acacio and his staff were warm and welcoming from the start. Each visit I felt more and more like a family member and not just a patient or number. Dr. Acacio goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and cared for in this trying time.
Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We used donor eggs for our IVF cycle. I basically had to trick my body in to thinking it was pregnant with a series of injections. The most memorable injections were the progesterone injections twice a week. Best advice would be to relax and breathe with each injection.

Every person on Dr. Acacio’s staff was excellent! From the girls at the front desk to the nurses in the back. Each one is always smiling and makes you feel like a part of their family. They truly make you feel like a priority and are genuinely concerned about you as a patient.
Describe your experience with Acacio Fertility Center.
The best thing about the clinic is that everything is pretty much done on their site.
Describe Brian Acacio's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Acacio Fertility Center.
In our first IVF cycle we wanted to implant 3 embryos with the hopes of at least having twins. We talked with Dr. Acacio about what we wanted to do and our reasoning and Dr. Acacio explained that he felt very positive we would get pregnant and that he would suggest only using 2 embryos and freezing what we could for a later use. We trusted his advice and implanted 2 embryos. We had a successful transfer and we’re blessed with twins. Our second cycle we thawed and transferred our remaining 2 embryos and had a successful Singleton birth.
Dr. Acacio took my concerns seriously, as well as what I was hoping to get out of IVF. He answered my questions, he was involved in the process, including monitoring, all along...He wasn't blithe about the failure of my IVF cycle and understood how much it had cost me (at that time, all of my funds for TTC), particularly given my aims. I do wish he'd explained the protocol a bit better, and what to expect and what the source was..
I felt like they [Acacio Fert Center] went well beyond what was necessary to make it work for me, and genuinely seemed to care about the poor result, and me...prices are also reasonable, relatively speaking...[Nurses] Generally good. Communication wasn't always solid or timely, but they cared and assisted with meds, etc, including when I had to go longer before retrieval than anticipated. I think I got more information without asking from them than I had from staff at other places.
How was your experience with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Dr. Acacio was relatable, without the arrogance of other doctors. He wasn't blithe about the failure of my IVF cycle and understood how much it had cost me (at that time, all of my funds for TTC), particularly given my aims. I do wish he'd explained the protocol a bit better, and what to expect and what the source was, but I didn't know it was an unusual one until well into it, so I hadn't asked anything at the beginning. I think his assumptions about my likely success were wholly understandable, but I wish more information had been given about the realities of what we found at retrieval (a large number of immature eggs) and fertilization (not great). Perhaps it wasn't known, but I felt like the post retrieval communication was a bit lacking.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?

Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Started with femara, added Follistim, and menopur, and then ganirelix until trigger. Triggered at a few over 18, with a bunch behind, and one giant lead. I technically met trigger criteria. However, the result was nearly half immature eggs (10 of 24 plus 2 dead), poor fertilization (12, including cultured immature eggs), and no blasts (2 or 3 stopped at the stage just before). Based on later results with a different doctor, which weren't substantially better, though produced 1 early blast and 1 freezable, it seems likely it was me, primarily - though nothing in my numbers indicated that would be the case.

Describe your experience with Acacio Fertility Center.
Dr. Acacio will keep plugging away. I did both IUI and an IVF with him, none successful. I decided not to do another cycle with him (and ultimately moved so it didn't matter) because I was not confident the failure wasn't due to a lab issue or some error in judgment. Given later results, I believe that the bulk of the issue was me, or at least my experience was not a result of a bad lab or protocol issue. But it was hard to shake that concern. That said, I felt like they went well beyond what was necessary to make it work for me, and genuinely seemed to care about the poor result, and me. I think Dr. Acacio's willingness to take patient concerns seriously is a huge strength, given the number of dismissive doctors you will find, and I know others who have had success with him after long arduous journeys when there have been failure elsewhere. His prices are also reasonable, relatively speaking.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Acacio Fertility Center.
There was definitely some waiting, but also sufficient flexibility for me to be able to make it work around my schedule.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center.
I can't entirely recall. I believe roughly in the realm of 9500 for the IVF?
Dr Acacio spends as much time as you need to help you feel comfortable with everything that is going on with your treatment plan. As someone who needs to know all the details, I appreciated his honesty, availability, and time. I never felt rushed and since he does do this with all his patients, it does mean he runs late frequently but I would rather wait for someone who gives me the time of day than someone who just wants to rush me out the door.
We came to Dr Acacio after a poor experience with another well known OC fertility doctor and we noticed the difference immediately. Dr Acacio spent the time to review all my medical records prior to our initial meeting and always remembered every aspect of my history which is much more than I can say about our previous doctor. I never felt like a number and since he has had experience with fertility firsthand, he is very compassionate with what his patients are going through. As a type A personality, he is one of the people who really knew how to calm me down. To say he "got me" is an understatement. I truly couldnt havent asked for a more perfect fit when it came to a fertility doctor.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Patience. He may not have the answers on cycle 1 but he will do everything he can to help his patients. Also expect to wait for appointments but he is worth the wait.

Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Due to recurrent miscarriages, he suggested intrapid treatment which our previous doctor never mentioned. After our first IVF failed, he suggested testing for autoimmune disorders and while the testing wasn't cheap it certainly paid off since they discovered i had some autoimmune disorders that I was unaware of. Fortunately they knew how to work with it and with additional medication (heparin injections, extra folic acid and baby aspirin) we achieved pregnancy on our next FET.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Acacio Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Sylvia)
The nursing staff is amazing and Sylvia was a godsend. Shes available any time day or night and while she comes off a little strong sometimes, her intentions are always positive.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center.
My insurance covered up to 40k of our costs so our out of pocket was minimal.
The reason that I was stuck there [at Acacio Fertility Center] for three cycles was because he had us buy the three package deal--RED FLAG. His [Dr. Acacio] lab is run in a manner where it is over extended. Appointments were hours late. And phone call follow ups after negative betas--when he made them--were never the times set up. This was disheartening and maddening for working professionals.

He is in over his head and overly concerned with image over substance. Over promises and under delivers. Never stops selling.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Run! Your time and money are better spent elsewhere.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
Dr. Acacio practiced unethical medicine. The reason that I was stuck there for three cycles was because he had us buy the three package deal--RED FLAG. His lab is run in a manner where it is over extended. Appointments were hours late. And phone call follow ups after negative betas--when he made them--were never the times set up. This was disheartening and maddening for working professionals. Without getting into too much detail one of my cycles was managed so poorly that my psychologist diagnosed me with PTSD when he transferred five embryos at 29 years old. We later found out that the embryos were already arrested. Completely unethical medicine.
Describe the protocols Brian Acacio used in your cycles at Acacio Fertility Center and their degree of success.
He hyperstimulated me resulting in 65 eggs during one cycle. That's poor medicine. We had 3 transfers and 0 positive pregnancy test. The doctor I saw after Acacio went one for one with me and I'm sitting with my daughter right now. Acacio never followed up with us after the third failed cycle.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Acacio Fertility Center.
Sylvia is the nurse in charge. She communicates in a condescending manner and does not respect the father's role.
Describe your experience with Acacio Fertility Center.
This clinic over promises and under delivers with chaotic Managment of care and very little precision and detail. It also practices cattle cycling. This is cycling that puts the I wonder of the doctor ahead of the calendar of your body.

I think we spent close to $50k there.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Acacio Fertility Center.
I was on the table ready for transfer and Acacio comes in to tell me all the embryos arrested and we had nothing to transfer. Through my heaving sobs, I asked him to go get my husband and he said he would after he saw another patient. The concern for my feelings had left the building as soon as my money came in.
Dr. Acacio is the man. We had some very tough times before experiencing success at his clinic and his care during these sad and painful times really mattered and helped us fight forward. He and his whole team would meet with us within a week or two of a failed cycle....[he] educated us on all the options for transfer...[he] did adjust the cycle after the first failed cycle and we experienced better results afterward.
Acacio Fertility has many strenths and few weaknesses(I can't think of any)...Dr. Acacio and his staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. They always answer on time. I even had some random concerns during a blastcocyst testing wait on a Friday afternoon and their Embryologist talked me through my concerns and worries on an impromptu call in. Top-notch service...[the nursing staff] were attentive and caring during the whole process

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Acacio at Acacio Fertility Center?
It may not all work right away and is a process. Each step of the IVF cycle is a hurdle and just getting to the embryo transfer is a battle in itself. Be prepared to be patient and strong throughout the whole process and don't give up.

About $13k for one cycle. Medication is expensive. $3k+

Costs seem very fair. This clinic is very up front with all costs. And they did consult free fo charge.
Doctor Acacio was super helpful in the beginning. We did an ultrasound to find out exactly what was wrong, a few months later we did the surgery. After that? We didn’t see him again, it was just his nurses ... Out of all the times we had an appointment, we maybe saw him twice. ... He put me on Letrozole for 7 days to build my eggs followed by 10,000 HCG trigger shot. The side effects were terrible.
We’ve been to both offices [Acacio Fertility Center] of his his [Dr. Acacio], Laguna Niguel and Bakersfield. I would definitely choose the Laguna Niguel office any day for the atmosphere but Bakersfield over the nurses hospitality. The one upside of LN is that if you need surgery or anything, they do it there on the other side of the hospital ... They would never call me with my results. I would call over and over again to find out the results of a test and never really get an answer/ ...

The reason Dr. Acacio is my 2nd fertility specialist is because my first had hidden prices and attempting to gouge/mislead my husband and I. I’ve called around and he was totally in the normal zone. I actually am happy to pay him based on his experience and conception rate.
Doctor Brian Acacio was a friendly upfront doctor who we really liked, but never saw after consultation. He made us feel positive about the experience. He came highly recommended, and has a high success rate...The nursing staff is friendly but they don't call back and different offices aren't on the same page and scheduling isn't communicated...
