Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Barnett was able to explain to us why things likely happened a certain way and any adjustments he may make if we need to go through another cycle...I did feel at times that [he] would talk over me and not fully let me ask questions of him and at times felt as though he may have been rushing. However, once this was addressed with him, he seemed to take that feedback and listen to my concerns more fully.
There has been good communication from the office [Dallas IVF], prompt responses to phone calls and messages on the patient portal, and caring and compassionate staff for the most part...very knowledgeable and frequently referred to research and current guidance from their governing boards...[Dr. Barnett] talked over me at times, therefore not understanding the questions I was trying to ask. However, this was addressed and corrected.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett is very knowledgeable and fully explains all of what can be expected within our testing and treatment. He would outline step by step processes and draw diagrams to help us understand. Based on results of things happening at different stages of the treatment, Dr. Barnett was able to explain to us why things likely happened a certain way and any adjustments he may make if we need to go through another cycle (this is our first IVF cycle). I did feel at times that Dr. Barnett would talk over me and not fully let me ask questions of him and at times felt as though he may have been rushing. However, once this was addressed with him, he seemed to take that feedback and listen to my concerns more fully. Overall, we have been pleased with Dr. Barnett as our fertility doctor and are hoping for continued positive results as we move forward to the next stage of treatment!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Provide him with feedback if there is something you are unhappy with. He seemed to receive it well when I addressed my concern with him and communication has been better since then.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett takes an approach in which I felt that he was paying attention to our unique situation (rather than just treating us like any other patient). However, it did sometimes feel that things were rushed to get to the next appointment.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
As we were dealing with male factor infertility, Dr. Barnett had to coordinate with my husband's urologist. The two offices did this very well. We did an IVF cycle in which all embryos were frozen. Medication regimens and every other day monitoring (labs and sonograms) during the medication timeline were done. After egg retrieval, eggs were fertilized using ICSI (due to our male factor infertility). Embryos were grown to day 6 before being biopsied and frozen. We did choose to have genetic testing of the embryos done. We have not yet gotten to the stage of embryo transfer.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
Our experience with Dallas IVF- Frisco has overall been very good. There has been good communication from the office, prompt responses to phone calls and messages on the patient portal, and caring and compassionate staff for the most part. The staff seem very knowledgeable and frequently referred to research and current guidance from their governing boards. The only weakness I can note is that I felt that the doctor talked over me at times, therefore not understanding the questions I was trying to ask. However, this was addressed and corrected.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
The insurance I have does cover fertility treatments, so payments went towards my deductible and then once that was met, I payed a copay. It is hard to talk about costs because I believe our experience being billed to insurance is different than what it would be private pay.
Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
Dr. Barnett does seem to prefer single embryo transfer if consideration of factors supports this. In our case, because of my age and the fact that this is our first time undergoing IVF, he did let us know he would be doing a single embryo transfer. However, if the facts of our case were different, he may have considered another option.

The only time I ever saw the dr [Dr. Brian Barnett] was on egg retrieval days and follow up appointments after the egg retrieval which was required to be a minimum of two weeks out...All he ever did was make minor adjustments to the same protocol...He didn’t offer much insight. Wasn’t really ever on time for the telemedicine follow up appointments and then rushed through them in 5 minutes. If I got emotional, he seemed to hurry and end the call. Never really felt like he had my best interest in mind. Once we completed three cycles, he told me it was pointless to continue since we weren’t getting any results.
[Dallas IVF] Clinic is responsive and I never had any issues with appointments or billing. The one bill I ended up paying was later covered by my insurance. They don’t automatically refund your money, but they did not ask further questions when I called in to request the refund...Everyone was great except the older lady taking blood. She had the audacity to tell me very inappropriate things especially while go through IVF.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I never was able to make embryos. All he ever did was make minor adjustments to the same protocol. My AFC was always over 10, yet some how there were only ever to retrieve 3-4 eggs. He didn’t offer much insight. Basically told me there were other ways to start a family and we didn’t need to continue with IVF. That was then end of my treatment with him and I never scheduled a Follow up for “alternate family planning”. I know deep down this is t the end, but I needed to find a Dr who could help me and not give up for the sake of ruining his SART data.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Beware, if you don’t feel like he’s willing to help, leave sooner. I was always hopeful, but somehow ended up with the same results. I wish I had left after the second failure. Just be cautious, and guard your heart.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
For the end-goal, he is good and very experienced. For bedside manner & delicacy he lacks the compassion we are needing.

Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
We removed a blocked fallopian tube successfully. Our next step was timed intercourse with fertility medications (a form of IUI). He told us about 3 tries with this method before we should consider IVF. We had two failed pregnancies and one chemical pregnancy. We are in the process of considering the option of IVF and exploring all options.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
We have almost moved clinics twice because of the staff. In general there is a lack of compassion and several mis-steps in communication that have left us feeling isolated.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
We started off rough with almost 2 months before a call back for our initial consultation; which inevitably delayed the entire process. I had to call my OBGYN, who was able to contact the office for call to us. Overall- ease of scheduling appointments is easy and they have been fairly flexible.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
Very confusing. We have insurance but not a copay. We have only been charged for office visits a few times, but have been in the office numerous times. The financial consultant confirmed that we have a credit on our account and that is why the office visits haven't been charged. No one told us up front about the credit or what it is from. We are still pending information on it.
Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
We were told he only does single embryo transfer; which he said is better statistically for a healthier pregnancy and birth.

my blood work showed it was low in one hormone so [first doctor] put me on clomid. Then I switched to Dr Barnett who said I didn’t need the medicine and it would thin out my uterus lining so he took me off. He was right...56 healthy eggs retrieved...One very healthy embryo was transferred...13 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy
[Dallas IVF] is a well oiled machine. The staff is phenomenal. There are even nurses who have been through the process themselves and have infinite compassion for you...The clinic is clean and well cared for. The office is organized well for easy entry and exit. Cons is the office waiting room is a little awkward with seating...we spent 25k on the process of IVF maybe $30k with all the medications and visits
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I loved my doctor! We had this clinic recommended by close friends and could not be happier that we went with them for treatment. The entire office is sensitive and supportive continually! We used them for our egg retrival, and IVF cycle. Their help was available around the clock. You feel more like a family friend than a patient. Our entire process was made smoother with IVF dallas in Frisco.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Take a deep breathe. This journey is a hard one but finding the right doctor and put peace back in your heart and control into your hands. There is nothing to relieve the fear of Infertility like the care of a good doctor.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Great bedside manner and explanation of the plan and process.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
The entire process becomes a blur after it is finished but I will do my best to recount the steps used. At first when testing began my blood work showed it was low in one hormone so the doctor put me on clomid. Then I switched to Dr Barnett who said I didn’t need the medicine and it would thin out my uterus lining so he took me off. He was right. The real issue was my husbands sperm or lack thereof. He had a procedure done known as reverse vesectomy to hopefully clear the blockage. we continued with IVF using extracted sperm during his procedure. Egg retrival began in January of 2018 and I can’t remember all of the drugs we were on but it was a rough month to say the least. Shots and pills and we were staying in a hotel during house renovations to make things nearly comical. Then the procedure was scheduled and we had great success. 56 healthy eggs retrieved. I cried with joy. Then we waited for a full cycle to begin our frozen embryo transfer process. We miraculously got pregnant in our month of waiting. Our darling daughter was born 10 months later and we enjoyed her for two years before starting the process to get our 2nd child. We picked up right where we left off and had a smooth IVF process. One very healthy embryo was transferred. I was on estridiol pills and progesterone in oil shots for 3-4 months and weaned off completely at 13 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
The nursing staff is the reason we left our first doctor. The office staff can make or break the entire organization. We couldn’t have been happier with the nurses and their compassionate and educated care at Dallas IVF frisco.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
The clinic is clean and well cared for. The office is organized well for easy entry and exit. Cons is the office waiting room is a little awkward with seating. As a new patient I didn’t find any cons. Honestly, this office is a well oiled machine. The staff is phenomenal. There are even nurses who have been through the process themselves and have infinite compassion for you. It makes the entire process less agonizing.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
Infertility is expensive. I also believe in you get what you pay for. I would round up that we spent 25k on the process of IVF maybe $30k with all the medications and visits. The frozen embryo transfer was $3,700.00 but then the medication was $698.00 here and $250.00 there. I wasnt focused on keeping track of all the cost but felt I got what I paid for and was satisfied with my care and comfort throughout.

The first cycle of IUI [with Dr. Barnett] we did a natural round with a trigger shot and progesterone suppositories .The second round was the same as above but with added clomid days 5-9. The third and fourth were clomid ,follestism injections , trigger and the progesterone suppositories x 14 day until blood test to confirm. We did blood work and sonograms with every cycle. Towards the second - four he got a little more aggressive in hope to get a few more follicles to better out chances of conceiving at the time we were using donor sperm and it increased the cost greatly.
The nursing staff [at Dallas IVF] for the most part was great caring and understanding The nursing staff did have a small problem with communication at times during visit they confused someone else’s informations with ours one example is when my husband had to speak with them about Finacial problems during our last cycle they questioned why it was so expensive and he had to remind them we were having to use donor sperm...one more occasion were they entered telling us our sonogram results were great and they were looking a the wrong patient info. But small misunderstandings and they were great other wise
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr.Barnett was very transparent and straight forward through out our treatment. He explained the treatment plan he was optimistic of a good outcome, but did not provide unrealistic expectations. He told our chances for example he told us couples trying to conceive naturally have a 25 % chance conceiving on any given cycle and that are chances were not greater during IUI treatment. One cycle we did see Dr.Ku and he was very nice and wanted an additional vaginal sonogram total three that cycle which we were not prepared for because on the other three cycles Dr. Barnet only competed two each cycle. We unfortunately did not have the money to complete three as we were paying OOP for everything and both doctors were very understanding and instead of loosing the cycle the gave different instructions we unfortunately still did get a BFP yet
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Make sure you ask questions and he does not mind answering them he is very blunt and will not sugar coat them, but kind as well

I do believe the clinic forgets that the cost for people paying out of pocket is greater when insurance doesn’t cove. I feel they should be a little more sensitive to that at times. They are very Kind during visit and weight time for most cost was very short
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
I spent a approx 10-14 grand on four IUI and other diagnostic procedures and labs . We also had to use donor sperm which increased the cost

How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I love how honest and upfront he is. He is very confident in his abilities and it made me feel at ease. He had not problem adjusting the course of action when my body wasn’t responding the way we anticipated. He explains everything, writes it’s our and even draws pictures then sends you home with what was written out to refer to later. My personality type meshed well with his, I want the facts and I want to know he’s got it handled. He never came across cold, he has 3 daughters himself. He’s compassionate but in a very secure matter-of-face way that I appreciated.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. He can talk fast but will always stop to ask if you understand. Don’t hesitate to say no. He will find another way to explain it. This is YOUR treatment plan, you need to understand what your body will be going through. There’s no shame in that. I came with questions written out in case I forgot and I found it very helpful.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett answered every question I had but also got to know my husband and me. He asked how my husband’s job was every time we saw him and discussed his own family. We interacted more with the nursing staff but they too were beyond friendly and accommodating.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
Because I have H.A I needed a lot more medication to stimulus my follicles. Cycle 1 we did a week of clomid and he stopped that because there weren't any results, we went straight to injectables. At home intercourse...no pregnancy. Went for round 2 with IUI but had to cancel due to a family emergency and I needed to fly to California. He wouldn’t continue because the risk of OHS was too high. I came back and we decided IVF but with 4x the amount of injectables bc of how my body responds. I was in every other day getting checked with sono’s and bloodwork. Dr. Barnett did the egg retrieval, 9 mature and in the end sent 3 to PGS-T testing. Will do the FET sometime in November.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Dallas IVF. (Assigned nurse: Shelly and Allie )
Allie and Shelly are amazing. They showed such compassion and every time I was in there we laughed together. You have to while going through this. They ask about my husband and my dog every time. Stacey the sonographer is probably the golden egg of that whole place. Everyone loves her and I couldn’t imagine having anyone else. Having a sono 5x a week is difficult, and she explains every image and takes her time telling you what she’s looking for or what’s ideal.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
The place is very clean. The staff was great. I have no complaints. I liked that a surgery center was right next door with their own staff for retrievals and transfers. The couches are very comfortable too!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
Insurance covered the majority of it.
Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
He said “we do single embryo transfer here.” And that was the end of it. I’m not the right candidate for multiple embryo transfers nor do I want that so I didn’t ask for him to elaborate. I know he has stressed the health risks of multiples to us before while I was on the high dose of Menopur.

I had rough appointments with having PCOS and my body not cooperating like it should, but he [Dr. Brian Barnett] has always been compassionate and invested in my husband and I...He is pretty blunt. Know that going in, there is no "beating around the bush". His compassion grows as he knows and is around you...had me do lab work in my first visit so any alterations needed in my health could be made promptly. When I began a new cycle, we scheduled my HSG test, which came back clear, and he put me on a birth control pill just for that cycle in order to keep it short (since I have a history of very long cycles).
I have not been to the Frisco or Dallas office [of Dallas IVF], but Dr.Barnett and a small team of nurses are in Tyler one day a week, on Tuesdays. The only weakness I have found is I wish they were in Tyler more than one day a week. However, they do work well with other offices and allow some ultrasounds and labs outside of the office...When we began this medicated cycle, I was given a calendar filled out with easy to follow directions as to what to do or take on what day. When I had any questions about medication or lab results his nurses were very prompt to get back with me and made me feel like I was their only patient. Amazing group of nurses.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I have been seeing Dr. Barnett for 5 months, he made a plan for us in the beginning with what tests are necessary and when to do them. At each visit he has sat down to explain exactly what to do next after each visit assessment. I never felt over whelmed with medication, or timing of things to be done throughout the cycle. I had rough appointments with having PCOS and my body not cooperating like it should, but he has always been compassionate and invested in my husband and I.

I feel like Dr.Barnett is invested in my husband and I. We are young, very young to be having these obstacles (early twenties), and he is and has worked hard to help us achieve our goal and understand what might be the best thing for us to do.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed in September of 2018 with PCOS. In the following May, my OB referred me to Dr.Barnett after not responding well to my fourth failed round of chlomid. Dr. Barnett had me do lab work in my first visit so any alterations needed in my health could be made promptly. When I began a new cycle, we scheduled my HSG test, which came back clear, and he put me on a birth control pill just for that cycle in order to keep it short (since I have a history of very long cycles). When I started my next cycle, I began letrozole, my body responded very well in that i had three mature follicles. On cycle day 11 we were told to "baby dance", on cycle day 12, in the office, I was given the ovidrel trigger shot. We were directed to "baby dance" on cycle day 13 and 14. On day 15 I began progesterone suppositories until my negative hcg test. This was my first treated cycle under the care of Dr. Barnett so far. Even though I just found out yesterday we are not pregnant, I feel like this was our first real shot and we are ready to go again.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
When we began this medicated cycle, I was given a calendar filled out with easy to follow directions as to what to do or take on what day. When I had any questions about medication or lab results his nurses were very prompt to get back with me and made me feel like I was their only patient. Amazing group of nurses.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
I have not been to the Frisco or Dallas office, but Dr.Barnett and a small team of nurses are in Tyler one day a week, on Tuesdays. The only weakness I have found is I wish they were in Tyler more than one day a week. However, they do work well with other offices and allow some ultrasounds and labs outside of the office.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
My ultrasounds or consultations (with insurance) were approximately $50 each, HSG was partially covered by my insurance, out of pocket was $50, ovidrel, letrozole and progesterone was aproximatelt 200 for one cycle.

I don't want to feel rushed or that I am asking stupid questions and sometimes I feel that with Dr. Barnett that is his feeling. He is very knowledgable and we trusted him to be our doctor for this journey due to things we have heard and I am glad we did but sometimes I wonder if we chose the right place. We are in about $41,000 so far and no baby. Hoping for a different outcome this time around.
Front desk [ at Dallas IVF- Frisco] seems cold and rude. They don't communicate when they are running behind schedule which is very frustrating. Don't seem to be very mindful of what you are going through and some days are harder than others. They don't seem to have the compassion they should to be the face of the clinic.... I was called by a nurse and told me and my husband had Hepetitis B but there was human error when the nurse entered in the information. We decided we were going to cancel our cycle and then two hours later they called and said oh so sorry human error, you are still good to proceed with the cycle. I had worked on relaxing and staying calm before my transfer but that was all lost when I receive that phone call. Not a good experience.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
He has great results and he is very knowledgable. I think sometimes they forget that we are going through this with very high emotions and lots of drugs in our system and sometimes we don't react in the way that seems rational but we are putting everything we have into this and just want a successful outcome. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Be prepared to wait in the waiting room
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I feel like there isn't a cap to how many patients there are and it is more about the money then realizing we are putting our whole lives into this.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
I was given wrong results that was very harmful at the time. That nurse was let go but still very traumatizing at the time. I feel very rushed by them and they expect I know what is going on but I would like more direction from them.

Dr. Barnett helped me understand our history, our needs, and our potential for a successful pregnancy without having to take the most aggressive approach. I felt so informed, and hopeful about our future thanks to Dr. Barnett’s time spent with us...Dr. Barnett had said we’d reevaluate each time to see my body’s response, and because my response we good, we kept the same low dose treatment for a 2nd round IUI that was succcessful!
Stacey, the sonographer [at Dallas IVF] was absolutely amazing. Super kind, considerate, very informative & in the most professional way she shared such hopefulness with each sonogram that good things could be coming. Amanda & Mallory we’re my nurses and both were great...I was provided a cost sheet at the beginning which was helpful since I don’t have infertility coverage through my insurance. Fertility meds cost about $500 each time, each sonogram was $250 & the IUI was about $500+...
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I am so grateful to have had such a knowledgeable, thorough, considerate doctor. I appreciate his straightforward nature and the efficiency of his office. We felt so comfortable with us recommended path of treatment, and so cared for along the way.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
You are in great hands! Personally, I came prepared with my questions and Dr. Barnett helped me understand our history, our needs, and our potential for a successful pregnancy without having to take the most aggressive approach. I felt so informed, and hopeful about our future thanks to Dr. Barnett’s time spent with us and I hope you will too!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett closely reviewed our history prior to our first appointment and asked us detailed questions. He patiently walked us through his recommendation, covering all details, and helping us understand our situation and what would be next. When I met him, I so wished I had come to see him sooner!
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
We had unexplained infertility & Dr. Barnett explained what percent of patients fall into this category. We had done a few tests in preparation - HSG, sperm analysis, ovarian reserve & thankfully all looked healthy & normal. So he recommended IUI treatment, with low doses of fertility meds. I took clomid & low doses & of gonal-f & ovidril to trigger ovulation. My body responded well to all meds, the first IUI was unsuccessful. Dr. Barnett had said we’d reevaluate each time to see my body’s response, and because my response we good, we kept the same low dose treatment for a 2nd round IUI that was succcessful!

Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
The clinic is very organized & efficient. I’ve never had so many dr. appointments, but each time everyone was professional, prompt & supportive. I feel like the team of doctors are experts in their field & their leadership helps ensure the office is effective and supportive.

Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
Because we had no known issues, IUI was recommended for us which we felt great about. I had reservations about IVF which I shared with him & he shared helpful insights for me to consider if we learned we may need that path later (for example, we could limit our number of embryos if we were concerned about having many more than we wanted to implant should we ever need IVF treatment).

He's [Dr. Barnett] open about his family and kids and inquires about our backgrounds which makes him incredibly personable, but he's a professional, and will get back to the business of discussing your game plan quickly while always taking the time to answer all of our questions...We were an unexplained case of infertility, so considering that, Dr. B wanted to only try 2 attempts at IUI starting with a conservative approach to stimulation drugs (Follistim and Clomid) for round 1, and a higher dosage for round 2. The plan was that if the IUI's didn't work, to not waste our time and money and shoot straight for IVF with a fresh transfer. First 2 IUI's were unsuccessful. Did the IVF with fresh transfer. Worked like a charm.
Amanda Wankovsky and Mallory Jackson [nurses at Dallas IVF] were my dream team! Their enthusiasm for our case was sincerely appreciated, and their availability for all of my questions, requests, and needs was always on hand. They made the (sometimes) long-winded tutorials fun when I needed to learn about the meds, and when they had to call with bad news their compassion was incredible. Though when they had our good news, their excitement was amazing!! I loved having them in my corner! Stacy from Sono was also absolutely wonderful, FANTASTIC at her craft, and completely professional. And I loved the older blood lady too, though I can't remember her name! She's so great at what she does... makes you feel so comfortable and NEVER misses. Sometimes I could hardly feel it when she hit the vein. An all around AMAZING staff.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I remember upon first meeting Dr. B that his confidence was calming. He's incredibly knowledgeable about the fertility process, roadblocks, and options, and he was thorough when trying to figure out our fertility issues. He's straight forward and to the point, yet takes the time to get to know you which I'm all about... it's a nice balance between a realist and a coddler, if you will. It was always a pleasure meeting with him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Be prepared with your questions and don't be afraid to keep on asking them - he's a busy doc, but he'll give you the time if you need it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Loved every meeting with Dr. B in that I'm a fan of a doc who is direct and not too much of a hand-holder. He's open about his family and kids and inquires about our backgrounds which makes him incredibly personable, but he's a professional, and will get back to the business of discussing your game plan quickly while always taking the time to answer all of our questions.

Dallas IVF Frisco has a super convenient location, was incredibly clean, offerred lots of reading options in the lobby, and worked like a well-oiled machine. I did wish they had a Keurig in the lobby for some hot tea (or naughty coffee) - already told Dr. Ku that recommendation ;-)
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
Our insurance didn't cover much of anything, so we had to pay out of pocket.
Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
Considering my age and a consultation with the embryologist (and my fearlessness of twins as I'm a twin and love being one) we went with 2 embryos for transfer.

I felt as though my questions were dismissed or treated as if they were a dumb question. After the failures his nurses would always call with the results and there was never any follow up with Dr. Barnett. Only when I requested an appointment with him did I see him specifically...If you go to him stand your ground and ask questions until you are satisfied with the answers not him. He is the expert, this is his area of focus so he should be the one leading the conversations of next steps not waiting on your next call.
[Dallas IVF] rarely answer the phone after 3pm and if you leave a message for anyone expect it to take 2 or 3 days before they return your call (if they do). Don't EVER cancel or try to reschedule an appointment they will charge you or it will be next month before any availability...After having bloodwork BETA done I would have to wait until the next day sometimes or I would have to call them. On some of my bloodwork they wouldn't be able to find the results and would have to call me back after tracking them down. Failed to take into account my hypothyroidism and medication before making cycle changes and drug changes.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I only met with Dr. Barnett maybe 2 or 3 times and each time I felt as though my questions were dismissed or treated as if they were a dumb question. After the failures his nurses would always call with the results and there was never any follow up with Dr. Barnett. Only when I requested an appointment with him did I see him specifically. When I finally left it was because I felt as though Dr. Barnett was just placating me and my decisions (which I am not the expert in) until I came to the most costly of his services IVF. Never once did I feel as though my treatment was personalized to me and my conditions but rather my numbers fit into a chart of this is her number so we will do x which is standard for all women. I also have hypothyroidism which was documented in my chart but he never tracked my numbers or asked for them until I found out shortly after my 3rd IUI that my TSH level was low and he said "well that definitely could've been a factor in the negative result" but I had to go to a different doctor to get my blood drawn to get numbers.

Felt as though none of the medicated (clomid and Femara) cycles weren't going to work and neither was the injectionable IUI's. Never followed up after cycle failures I always reached out asking about next steps and was basically told well what do you want to do without any explanation or hypothesis of why recurrently failing.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
Did 5 cycles of Clomid only increasing amount of medicine each time. Negative pregnancy test. Did 3 IUI's only thing changed was amount of injectible (follistim). only reasoning was that the last one failed. All 3 negative pregnancy test. One cycle of Femara after IUI's at my request (research I found stated better results for women with PCOS). Produced same result (one mature follicle) as the fully injectionable cycles did. Negative pregnancy test.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
Mainly experienced nursing staff. Front office nurses were off-putting not very nice. But once you went back for sonogram the technician was amazing. She explained everything she was doing and what everything on the screen meant. She went into detail what she was doing or about to do to prepare you for being uncomfortable. They outsourced bloodwork so there was never any consistency there.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
Clinic hours were inconvenient for a working adult especially a teacher who has to use sub days in order to come in for appointments. They rarely answer the phone after 3pm and if you leave a message for anyone expect it to take 2 or 3 days before they return your call (if they do). Don't EVER cancel or try to reschedule an appointment they will charge you or it will be next month before any availability.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
Each sonogram was $95 and each blood draw was $75. Clomid cycles with timed intercourse were about $300. IUI's were $4000 - $5000 with medication, sonograms, blood draw, semen analysis, semen prep, insemination, and beta blood draw. Received a pay schedule for IVF and it was $23,000 before prescriptions.

had one consultation and I felt that we were told to go lose weight and then come back [Dr. Brian Barnett]...is a great physician and very smart but he is not very sensitive...is very statistics and facts based...is not warm and fuzzy...recommended to take Provera...metformin...referred to a weight loss provider and a cardiologist.
[Dallas IVF] is very good at communication...wait times average around 30 mins to 1 hr. The parking around the building is not great during the busy times...also need more experienced nurses at drawing hard to stick patients...ultrasound team they were great and compassionate
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett came highly recommended by a friend who is also a physician. She had a successful second round of IVF after conceiving her first child with a seperate physician. My friend had a complicated medical history I was excited to see how Dr. Barnett could help me. My husband and I had one consultation and I felt that we were told to go lose weight and then come back. My husband and myself have been overweight our whole lives and to he told to do what we have not been successful with in the past seemed impossible. We have basically given up our dream to have children because we can't seem to find a way to lose weight. We have had so many setbacks in trying to lose the weight that we have basically given up. Hearing again that our weight would be the obstacle to becoming parents was devastating. We were given the information to see another provider to help us lose the weight and have still not been successful 2 years later. We are also older so we feel the clock is ticking.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett is a great physician and very smart but he is not very sensitive. He is very statistics and facts based. He is not warm and fuzzy but I have heard from other people that he gets results when the numbers are more in your favor.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
I am an overweight female and I knew this going into my appointment but I felt that I was told I am overweight and unless I could miraculously figure out how to lose weight, when I have never been able to lose weight in the past then I would not have any success in becoming a mother. That news devastated me and sent me into a depression where I gained more weight.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
It was recommended that I get a full health check up to make sure that I was healthy enough to undergo infertility treatments. I was recommended to take Provera to regulate my cycle. I was recommended to take metformin to aid with my insulin resistance and referred to a weight loss provider and a cardiologist.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
I loved the ultrasound team they were great and compassionate. They listened well and were informational without feeling cold.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
The biggest strength of the clinic is their location. They have several clinics in the DFW area and the Frisco location is in the same parking lot as my job. The clinic is very good at communication. I would say be ready to wait because the wait times average around 30 mins to 1 hr. The parking around the building is not great during the busy times. They also need more experienced nurses at drawing hard to stick patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
The breakdown of cost was as follows: Cost of office visit, Cost of medications, cost of consults- weight loss provider and cardiologist, cost of monthly ultrasounds

He [Dr. Barnett] often forgot who I was and had to look at my notes but he treated me well... is very dry and to the point which I appreciated. He specifically tailors the treatment plan based on your needs...I had tried Clomid with my OB and that didn’t work. So he suggested Femara for three months. Then when that didn’t work he suggested IUI but with only a maximum of three. After that did t work, he strongly suggested ivf with a frozen transfer. He advised against any fresh transfers especially with my PcOS
The front staff [at Dallas IVF] isn’t super friendly or helpful. Most of the nurses are great. The sonographer is fantastic! They have a patient portal online that you can use to see all your upcoming appointments, payments, treatment plans, lab results, etc. this is super helpful! They get results back to you very quickly and are pretty flexible with appointment times...Mallory [nurse] kind of took me under her wing. I always preferred to talk to Mallory because she knew me and knew my case. She was fantastic and if she didn’t know the answer to something, she would always get tj answer.

He [Dr. Brian Barnett] looked over all of my medical history and expressed what he thought was the next steps in moving forward which basically I felt like was putting me on the back burner. My accomplishments with weight loss seem to never be enough and as someone who is going to be 42 I feel like I don't have time to wait. But that didn't seem to matter. The doctor was thorough and organized and is well knowlegable in his area of expertise. But when it came to my specific needs, I felt like I wasn't heard.
We have embryos that were donated to us stored at this clinic [Dallas IVF] and we were not informed that our storage fee was past due by 6 months and so we are making payments to get it paid and will have to pay the yearly storage fee again in 6 months which I don't think is right for us to have to do. Also I was informed that I can not have any consults with the doctor until our storage fee is paid so I'm working with my obgyn until we are caught up.
How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
We only had a phone consult as I live in Ohio and his office is in TX. He looked over all of my medical history and expressed what he thought was the next steps in moving forward which basically I felt like was putting me on the back burner.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Make sure you have all questions and concerns written down and don't be afraid to express them.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
The consult was rushed and I felt like my accomplishments and voice was considered or heard.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
The only protocol that we are doing now is weightloss and maintaining that I have a cycle every month. We set up a treatment plan for other testing to be done before we start cycling for transfer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
I spoke with a nurse over the phone and received the treatment plan via email. The staff appears to be organized and timely with getting out info.
Describe your experience with Dallas IVF.
As I live out of state from this clinic, I can't give a full opinion of this clinic. But from the little that I have experienced I believe this clinic to be orderly and timely with patient info and receiving information from previous doctors.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
I had to pay 100.00 out of pocket for the phone consult and was informed that the thaw and transfer would cost 3700.00 not including meds and several tests leading up to transfer.
Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
I don't know how many embryos this doctor would transfer at once but I'm not opposed to multiple embryo transfer at once.
What specific things went wrong at Dallas IVF?

Dr. Barnett was very candid but sympathetic and supportive during every cycle! ... With unexplained infertility, 2 failed rounds of IUI we elected to do IVF. ... I suffered ovarian hyper-stimulation from the fertility drugs after my egg retrieval and ended up having a 3 day stay in the hospital with bilateral pleura effusions and needed a paracentensis of my abdomen to drain the excess fluid from swelling. How was your experience with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Dr. Barnett was so wonderful to work with. With unexplained infertility, 2 failed rounds of IUI we elected to do IVF. I suffered ovarian hyper-stimulation from the fertility drugs after my egg retrieval and ended up having a 3 day stay in the hospital with bilateral pleura effusions and needed a paracentensis of my abdomen to drain the excess fluid from swelling. Dr Barnett managed my care in and out of the hospital and made sure that I was well taken care of. He also saw the financial burden this was all taking on us and helped by waiving the ISCI cost. Unfortunately after the embryo transfer we did not conceive by Dr. Barnett was determined to help us! I took a break and when I went back to start my second round of IVF, I was miraculously pregnant naturally! Dr. Barnett managed my pregnancy theough 10 weeks and then I transferred to an OBGYN that he recommended. I am happy to say I have a beautiful baby girl!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Be open-minded

He [Dr. Barnett] seemed really knowledgeable and confident. I like the way he explained everything and wrote it out for you on a scratch paper and then reviewed everything once more before leaving the office. He always made me feel hopeful...He mentioned my age was young enough that he felt confident in transferring a single embryo and said it was better to chance having one healthy baby than risk having two unhealthy babies.
I wondered how much time they spent reviewing our file [at Dallas IVF] before having us come into the office which made me wonder if the amount of medication was adjusted accordingly or just based on a broader scale...They [nurses] were nice and friendly and seemed knowledgeable and helpful. I think there was room for improvement on their communication as far as call backs or emailing you back. And I often got the feeling that the nurses “ran the show” and were the main person you communicated with about your treatment, adjustments, decision making. I’d like to trust they ran every little thing by the doctor first but I some times didn’t feel that way. The sonographer was always so wonderful. She put you at ease and was super friendly and treated you like someone who you’ve known for a while. She explained what she was doing and looking for and answered any questions you had. She was the best.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Come to the office prepared with anything you think you may need and any questions written out that you want to ask. Keep records of anything given to you and keep it organized neatly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF?
Sometimes it felt like they just threw you into a category and gave you the same protocol as others in that category without making you feel like they really looked at your history in depth and made decisions based on all aspects of past lab results and health history. I wondered how much time they spent reviewing our file before having us come into the office which made me wonder if the amount of medication was adjusted accordingly or just based on a broader scale.
Describe the protocols Brian Barnett used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
I do not remember specifics.

The clinics strengths are the doctors confidence and knowledge in IVF and success rates. Areas of weakness to be improved upon are nurses calling you back to not keep you waiting in suspense. I wish they were always positive and bubbly to keep you at ease and give you that feeling like you’re being taken care of special. New patients should come prepared with their questions written out and any information they think the doctor would want to see or anything that would be helpful like past tests, scans, history of period cycles, etc.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brian Barnett at Dallas IVF.
I believe one cycle was less than $18k.
Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.

What specific things went wrong at Dallas IVF?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Dallas IVF.
I wasn’t given a clear answer as to why I was experiencing something and why a certain test was ordered. The doctor said one thing and the nurses said another that didn’t match up as to why the test was ordered. I’ve had the pharmacy request refills and the clinic said they never got it or I’ve had other tests results faxed over to be added to my chart and they say they never got it.

Doctor Barnett was very blunt, treated me like a number and was very negative since the beginning. Didn't ajust treatment, and told me that there was no other treatment plan or options for me. I felt unheard, unsupported, and dismissed. When my estrogen levels were in the lower limit at the beginning of the cycle, he said: "this is a lousy cycle". I had to beg the nurse to ask him to come and personally talk to me when the treatment wasn't being successful. I asked if there was something he could change and his response was: "no, this is it for you. There is no regroup and try again". Which is hard to heard when you are 33, and the only wrong thing that I have is low egg reserve.
[Dallas IVF] Staff is rude. Rarely answer the phone. Making an appointment is very difficult. They show little compassion. You are just in and out like a factory. They only care when it's time to collect payments...Nurses were always busy, and had no time to answer questions. They only wanted me to email my concerns through the patient portal...When I was waiting to get pregnancy test results, no one called me. I found out through patient portal.

I love Dr. Barnett and truly feel like I would not have my daughter if not for his care and concern in treating me as an individual patient. I now live out of state and will continue to go back to him for any future procedures, even though it may require a 10 hour drive to see him...carefully designed my treatment around my exact situation and the various results/responses he saw to other treatment attempts...open to transferring 2 embryos when reasonable

Make sure you are ready for results. He does not waste time on a “softer” or more gentle approach to solving your fertility problems. He isn’t playing the role of counselor and confidant but rather of an expert medical solutioner.

He [Dr. Brian Barnett] reviewed all the work from my previous two doctors. He put me straight into IVF. I did meds in January 2019. Retrieved 8 eggs in February 2019. Transferring hopefully in May 2019 is the doctors plan.... He was open, honest and wants to help us. He realizes how important it is to have a child for my husband and I. He referred my husband to a specialist who treated my husband’s infertility. He addressed my concerns and gave me confidence to believe I can achieve a pregnancy.
[Dallas IVF- Frisco is a] Very busy clinic. So you need appts in advance. Sometimes I have not been able to get ahold of anyone. Billing is hard to get ahold of too. Basically just keep calling or send emails until you get help. Visits are great...you always wait. But the doctor is informative. Nurses are calm and collective.... ’m currently at $12.5k for my egg retrieval. $3.5k for my transfer. Looking at another $12.5k for a possible another surgery. I’ve spent over $20k with all 3 doctors now.

Dr. Barnett is the best doctor ever! He explains everything in detail and is very hands on. He shoots straight and I need that. He never gave up on us. He's truly a great man. I am forever grateful for every thing he has done for us. He just encouraged is at every point and I will never be able to thank him enough for our baby boy....We had 2 FET, with no baby. And the 3rd one resulted in a normal baby boy.
Amanda and Mallory [nurses at Dallas IVF-Frisco] always go above and beyond and treat me like family. So do all of his staff though even if I get another nurse. They all are wonderful!... I really can't say a negative thing about them. I would recommend them to everyone I know, and I do! make sure to schedule your appointments as soon as possible because they book up really quick because they are so busy.

He [Dr. Barnett] is a good doctor, but I would not recommend seeing him if you have DOR. At my follow up, he let me know that i would be reported as a failure for his data. What an awful thing to say. I was very taken aback....His nurses and ultrasound tech [at Dallas IVF] are great. He was great at the initial consult, but acted as though he was too busy at follow up/monitoring appointments.... Had we gotten to transfer, the plan was for one.
The front desk staff [Dallas IVF] needs work. They were consistently grouchy in person and on the phone. I felt like I was a burden to them. They did seem to treat everyone that way. Describe Brian Barnett's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Dallas IVF.
Preference for eset. I do not know how strongly he feels about this as I have only wanted to do eset, so it was never a conversation.

[Dr. Barnett is a] direct personality, focused on getting you through a cycle only goal is results. Not extremely friendly, very business like and cost discussed 1st visit....Make up questions prior to going and ask them. Directly ask about procedures and timelines.
Staff [at Dallas IVF] was professional and organized...Very quite. All dressed the same, organized....Lots of clients, office is clean and new. Looks like a dentist office. Not much in personalized comforts.

He [Dr. Brian Barnett] is very knowledgeable and knows what he is doing. If he notices changes need to be made to your current treatment plan, he makes them without hesitation. My husband and I trusted his opinion every step of the way and we now have a perfect, healthy little boy...We were not allowed to have multiple embryos transferred due to using the Univfy program.
The [Dallas IVF - Frisco] location has been a little frustrating, just because of all of the road work they are doing. The ladies in the front can be a little short and not always personable. Occasionally, I have had to wait 15-20 minutes after my appointment time to get called back...[nurses are] Always friendly. Sometimes hard to get ahold of - just meaning playing phone tag. But overall, I had a good relationship with everyone I have worked with.
