Dr. Rossi is a kind and caring doctor that understands how hard this is for her patients...is also honest and willing to tell us the truth about things...second FET resulted in pregnancy and healthy birth...is responsive to requests like "will you please do my next appointment instead of the on call person?"
[Ohio Reproductive Medicine] is still working on some things like straightening out the front desk and making things clear to patients...hated the billing process and the transparency on billing...a lot of changes in the nursing staff, but our current nursing experience is positive. Mostly I just interact with them via phone.
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Rossi is a kind and caring doctor that understands how hard this is for her patients. She genuinely cares about what is happening with us and meeting our needs. She has been our doctor for so long and every time we are able to interact with her we both feel at ease and happy. She is also honest and willing to tell us the truth about things, even if they are not the best news for her. I think it's always important to ask questions of your doctor so many of our conversations happened because I asked. I am forever grateful to Dr. Rossi.

Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at Ohio Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
For IUIs, we began with unmedicated and I struggled some at first to note my ovulation window. One of the first IUIs resulted in a chemical pregnancy so we proceeded with IUI unmedicated for a few more tries, changed sperm donor, then went to medicated when it was not working. One medicated was just Clomid, one was with trigger and Clomid. After the 7th did not work, Rossi counseled us to move on to IVF. I did a traditional medicated IVF egg retrieval and tried a fresh transfer that did not work. The next cycle was medicate - birth control month, all of the shots (PIO, trigger) and that resulted in pregnancy and healthy birth. When we came back for our second child, Rossi advised moving to a more natural cycle with some letrozole, a trigger and progesterone suppositories through 10 weeks pregnant. That second FET resulted in pregnancy and healthy birth. After a year, I began again and third FET with the same protocol and it was a negative pregnancy test. Our follow up meeting from that cycle was that since embryos were untested it was likely the embryo. I am currently pregnant after my fourth frozen embryo transfer with the same protocol.

Describe your experience with Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
The clinic is still working on some things like straightening out the front desk and making things clear to patients. We have seen improvements in a lot of this recently but in the past we struggled with sometimes sitting in the waiting room and the doctor not being informed we were sitting there. We've also really hated the billing process and the transparency on billing. They only give paper copies and have no electronic system to understand bills. It feels like I just always owe money but it is not very connected to the deposit or treatment. During one transfer staff said congratulations to us after that just felt really wrong in tone, but others staff were more "good lucK" and positive and that was a much better feeling. I had many IUIs and they're always done by the on call doctor and I don't love the rest of the doctors as much as mine so that was not my favorite. That said, we will stay and sing all the praises of ORM because Dr. Rossi is THAT excellent and wonderful. I recommend it all the time, because she is there.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
I've blacked this out, but I think $500ish per IUI, $8000 plus meds for IVF, $3000 for FET, and now I'm on insurance so future FETs have been coinsurance around $1000 all included.

Dr. Rossi will not transfer multiple embryos.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
We were left in a waiting room for an appointment once. We had to resubmit paperwork for embryo transport one time. We had some issues with embryo data from the previous embryologist - which was not the clinic and things have changed in the last 5 years.
Dr. Rossi was patient, caring and always took time to answer any questions, present all the options and listen to me as the patient. She personally called to check in within me on multiple occasions...In my experience, [she] tends to go the least invasive and cost effective routes first. However, depending on your appetite for treatment and financial situation, there may be other options that increase your chances of success.
It's a very nice, new, clean facility [at Ohio Reproductive Medicine]. The staff is pleasant and courteous. The communication from the clinic could use some improvement. They changed locations and offered little communication on how this would effect embryo storage, care, etc. I also had issues with the billing department that took numerous phone calls and months of back and forth to resolve
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Rossi is a kind, compassionate and trustworthy provider. She always took the time to answer any questions and explain procedures and next steps. She was open and willing to listen to me as the patient. For example, I had an embryo that was a 5 day embryo that looked just okay but they weren't sure if it would make it to freeze and I had asked to try to transfer it and she was very open and receptive to the idea. She did not dismiss it but did honestly communicate expectations on success and did transfer it.
She also went out of her way to check in with me on multiple occasions. She called me personally when we had to pause treatment during COVID to talk to me and see how I was handling it. I also had complications with one of my pregnancies and when she found out, she called to check in. Just overall very caring and treated you like an individual.
She is also conscious of cost for her patients, which is admirable.

Describe Brooke Rossi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Rossi was very passionate about only transferring a single embryo at a time since I was relatively young and hadn't had multiple failed transfers yet to indicate multiple embryos were warranted. She also explained the risks of multiple embryos.

Dr. Brooke Rossi is absolutely AMAZING...She was very gentle, caring and honest. She would let me know her thoughts and she would listen to my concerns. She included my thoughts when selecting my treatment plan and she was emphatic. She was so awesome that once my son was born I came to the clinic so she could meet him in person...she empathized with me throughout my treatment and was focused on trying to figure out the best treatment plan for my care.
My overall experience with ORM was Great! I would definitely go back to try for baby number 2. The clinic is very clean, organized and overall caring. I especially like the new clinic. I will say I think some of the nursing staff could be more personable and friendly. I also think the front desk could be more friendly in the past some of the staff seemed unfriendly. I just want everyone to remember most families are coming to be seen due to a need and/or want to expand their family and we all just want to be treated nice. The medical assistants at the office have always been nice and sweet.

I completed several different treatment plans and I don't remember the exact names. For several treatments plan I took the estrace pills, and progesterone injection. I also have taken delestrogren/E2V injection and prometrium. My last transfer that was successful I completed an immune protocol including gonadotropin (hcg), pepcid, prednisone, lupron and vaginal progesterone.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Ohio Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Mackenzie at one point)
Now I will say I didn't always feel that the nursing staff was always emphatic. There a few times I was actually crying on the phone from my negative test results and I don't think the nurse was very responsive. I felt like she was just doing her job to let me know it was negative. I think the nursing staff could be nicer.

Describe Brooke Rossi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
Initially, I was okay with only transferring one embryo but as my attempts were continuing to be unsuccessful I did advocate for myself. So if I remember correctly my last two transfers were with two embryo's.
Dr. Rossi treated me like a real person with emotions and feelings...She calls to explain her process, understands my concerns and talks them out with me...she is always up for trying new ideas and giving me her honest option of the stage we are at...We have done only single embryo transfers, but the possibility of multiple embryo transfers has been considered since we have had multiple failures.
The [Ohio Reproductive Medicine] clinic itself does treat people like a number. Monitoring is not done by appointment and done as a cattle call. While it might allow for quicker service, it doesn't allow for a lot of questions if you are seen by someone who is not your doctor. Their app system is really flawed as well. It doesn't allow for replying to messages. So if you don't understand something, you have to call and leave a message. Then they will respond via the app and you have to call back again. Not very user friendly.
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Rossi's compassion for her patiences is a huge strength. We have had multiple complications and set back which have been crushing but we have felt confident that she is looking to find different method and exploring all options with us.
She knows that because of my complications, I have been more uncomfortable with being treated by multiple doctors and does what she can to make sure she is the one that sees me whenever possible.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Be your own advocate and do your research.
Dr. Rossi will listen and work through things with you, but you have to speak up.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Rossi treated me like a real person with emotions and feelings, which was 100% different from how I felt when I was seeing Dr. Williams.
She calls to explain her process, understands my concerns and talks them out with me. We have had a long difficult road and she is always up for trying new ideas and giving me her honest option of the stage we are at.
While we unfortunately still have not gotten pregnant, I feel like we are in this together and she understands our frustration.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at Ohio Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
Due to the complications from my first retrieval Dr. Rossi set me on a plan that worked with our schedule and to avoid unnecessary pain and another failed painful transfer.
She made sure that I would be put under for the retrieval, and made the injection schedule compatible with my work schedule.
We have done 3 frozen medicated transfers and one fresh transfer. All of which failed to implant.
We did multiple testing, saline ultrasound, uterine biopsy, bloodwork all coming back positive.
We decided to try a natural cycle to see if I respond better. First cycle was canceled because I didn't respond to the Femera. Second Cycle was put back on Clomid which I was responding to, but the cycle was canceled due to COVID
Describe your experience with your nurse at Ohio Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Mackenzie)
I have been lucky enough to have Mackenzie as my nurse with my previous doctor and then she was promoted to IVF coordinator shortly after I switched doctors.
She has compassion and understanding. She has helped me understand the processes and has always been compassionate since she has been with me since the beginning.

It's a cattle call. They tell you to be there at 8, but that's only if you want to wait forever. There is normally a line at the door around 6:45am, if the lab techs are there early you can get your bloodwork done around 7.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
The retrieval was around 15,000 before insurance, transfers were around 4,000. They do not offer a cash discount which I don't agree with. They will give insurance companies a 40% discount off their rates but not people willing to pay cash on the spot

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
A lot of the issues were from the first doctor at the clinic I saw. He constantly forgot who we were and tried to schedule us for different procedures than what we needed.
Lab concerns were from their outdated system of faxed results from outside labs. I get my labs from a hospital that they use and they offer a great online system, but unless the doctor is looking for the results you have to wait a long time for the faxed

Everyone in the clinic [Ohio Reproductive Medicine] is friendly. If you have questions and leave a message they get back to you the same day. She not only looked at ways to better my personal chances (suggesting to check my vit. d levels), but to also look at my fiance and give him ideas and vitamins to try and help better his health as well. During our meeting we were pretty determined to do the laparoscopy. Doctor Rossi went over the pros and cons and we decided to go through at least a couple IUI'S before surgery. Unfortunately the CoVid virus has put a hold on our process.

You do not want to be ignorant in the fertility process so ask as many questions as possible.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
On our first visit we definitely felt like humans rather than a number. We had several questions that she was willing to help us with. After several failed treatments of Clomid and injections we were thinking about surgery. Dr. Rossi talked us out of surgery and strongly encouraged we try IUI's first.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at Ohio Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
We recently transitioned to Dr.Rossi as our previous doctor retired. Our treatment plan is to continue taking the Clomid and wait for a positive ovulation test at that time we will start the IUI process after which I will take medicine for 12 days after and begin taking pregnancy tests. She also tested my vit D levels and they were extremely low so I take one pill a week of 50,000 units of vit D. The COvid virus has put our process on hold.

How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Rossi has been utterly fantastic. She never gives me false hope but helps me feel optimistic at the same time. When she isn't sure, she tells my why she wasn't sure about something and walks me through her decision-making process. When she is sure, she would explain the medical research behind it. She injects humor when needed, acknowledges my feelings and fears even before I did, has called me personally a number of times for consolation and advice, and has shared recent research she had done on my behalf. The day I was supposed to stop ovarian stimulation meds and do my trigger shot for my first retrieval, I freaked out over how low my estrogen was and called the after-hours line. She took the call, listened to my concerns, let me cry, and then actually tweaked my protocol and had me do one more round of shots-which I really think did make a difference for my number of eggs ready! When I had my miscarriage from that cycle, she was so empathetic and professional and really handled it better than I could have imagined. We have had issues with my poor response since then, and she has really collaborated with me every step of the way. I really believe that she will help me get there! Go see her!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
Be honest and open about what you want and need-she will listen to you. Trust her judgment but also trust yourself.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine?
She called me personally when I had a chemical pregnancy my first cycle with her, to answer my many questions, to calm my fears the day before my egg retrieval. She really listened to me when I had questions about my cycle, my meds, when I wanted to try something new, and honestly considers my preferences for treatment. She gives her medical opinion in a way that is respectful and knowledgeable without being dismissive. She has talked to me numerous times on the phone and never rushes me. I feel like she genuinely cared about my results. When I got pregnant from my first IVF cycle and transfer, she was really happy for me. When I was diagnosed with an anembryonic pregnancy, she expressed intense (yet professional) empathy for my situation. She also moved her schedule around so she could personally do my D&C the next day. I couldn't imagine a doctor who treats someone more like a human and an equal in this process. She gives me realistic hope.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at Ohio Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
When I came to her, I had done two rounds of Clomid with my OBGYN. I was ovulating on my own but had borderline progesterone levels and a shorter luteal phase. Dr. Rossi recommended we do one more round and an HSG. She also did not like my prolactin levels, sent me for an MRI (that my regular endocrinologist had told me was unnecessary), found a prolactinoma, and started cabergoline to treat it. I had a chemical pregnancy that cycle. Because of that, we decided to do a few more medicated rounds and see if the lower prolactin levels would help me get pregnant. I asked to do letrozole out of concern the Clomid was thinning my lining. Dr. Rossi did not have that concern but was happy to oblige. Three rounds did not work. We did a round of letrozole with IUI-no pregnancy. I asked to do a round of injectibles and IUI-Dr. Rossi agreed-no pregnancy. Did a round of letrozole again (I was out of town and couldn't come in for monitoring for the injectibles) and IUI-no pregnancy. Moved straight to IVF. Did three weeks of birth control to calm my ovaries (I was ovulating really early) and then did a microdose lupron protocol with high doses of gonal-f. We upped the gonal f a little after a couple ultrasounds to see follicle growth, and then did egg retrieval. Due to only having 5 mature follicles via ultrasound, Dr. Rossi wanted to plan for a day three transfer. When we got four embryos on Day 1 from my 5 retrieved eggs, she decided that things were looking better than she expected and we should go for a day 5 transfer instead. We did a fresh transfer due to her research that they're more successful in poor responders like myself. One embryo was a grade 1 blast, so we transferred that (one more made it day 6 to freeze), and I got pregnant. At mt 7-week ultrasound, we discovered it was an anembryonic pregnancy and did a D&C the next day. I got my period 4 weeks later, and that cycle we did a saline sonogram to ensure that there was no scarring after the D&C. We did a natural start cycle with microdose lupron and high dose gonal f again. I only developed 2 follicles, so we converted to IUI (no pregnancy). We decided to start oral estrogen priming after IUI to prep for another stim cycle, but I had either 2 giant follicles or 2 cysts at baseline, so we decided to cancel. I asked to try birth control again since it worked the last time, so we did 3 weeks of a low-dose birth control then gonal f and menopur. I only got 3 follicles that time and we decided to convert to IUI again (Dr. Rossi is convinced I can produce better and we shouldn't waste the retrieval from my insurance). That was a bfn. We decided to try an estrogen patch/antagonist priming protocol, and that baseline was good so we moved forward. My cycle just got cancelled due to COVID-19 clinic shut downs, so I'm currently waiting to start back up. I'll come back and update when I start again.

Describe your experience with Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
I was able to get in quickly for an eval-I think it was less than a two week wait (but my doctor was also new to the clinic so she was taking new patients). The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and communicative (in my experience). However, I did have a friend who went to the same clinic who sometimes did not get called back same day, even when she had uncertain test results she needed a nurse to review with her. The doctors do rotate for IUI and IVF transfers, so my doctor did not do my IUIs or my transfer. She did do my egg retrieval and most of my monitoring. When I really wanted her to do my scan when I was worried we'd have to decide to cancel a retrieval for poor response, she saw me personally even though she wasn't on rotation.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
The clinic tells people to come starting at 7:30 but people can get in as soon as 7 most days. Bloodwork is first come, first serve and they have 1-2 people doing bloodwork from 7am-12:30pm. Ultrasound monitoring is then done once you have your bloodwork done, though if bloodwork is backed up, they will take people for ultrasound first. I would get there between 7-7:30, and I would never wait longer than 15-20 minutes before being seen. However, most of the time, by the time you get blood drawn, do the US, and see the IVF nurse, you're there for 45-60 min. It was run very efficiently.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.

strong preference for transferring only one embryo, especially at my age (32). She said she would not consider transferring more than one, no matter the results of the retrieval. For my friend at the same clinic at age 38 in January 2020, Dr. Rossi transferred one good-quality blast and one poor-quality blast in a fresh cycle (the poor was unlikely to make it to freeze). My friend got pregnant with a single baby.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
I had a friend who had a low beta after her IVF transfer, and the clinic uploaded the results and did not call her. She called them that same day-no response. She called the next day and they claimed they called, but she never got a message from them. The doctor was very apologetic though.
I haven't had a serious issue with the clinic personally. But I also am not afraid to keep calling until someone calls me back :)
However, she [Dr. Rossi] simply kept having me try again and again without truly identifying the issues that I had. As a result of her recommendations, I had multiple ectopic pregnancies, with the recommendation to keep on trying. I would not recommend her to someone in my situation. I do not know if I would recommend her to someone different fertility needs.
When I spoke with the nurses [University Hospitals Fertility Center], they often had no knowledge of my history and would state canned responses to my issues of spotting or cramping. They also would say things like “at least you know you can get pregnant,” which is not very sensitive to a person who has had many many losses. ... The doctors at this clinic are conservative in a good way. I believe that they take their time before they recommend invasive strategies.
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi was kind but professional. I really trusted her throughout the time I was in her care. However, she simply kept having me try again and again without truly identifying the issues that I had. Ask a lot of questions and do your own research.

When I met with Dr. Rossi or spoke with her by phone, I felt that she cared about me and my situation.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Time intercourse with the use of hormones. After having 3 ectopics (3 cornual), we began monitoring which side I was ovulating on with the preference of conception happening when I ovulated on the right side. My most recent pregnancy happened when I ovulated on the right side and resulted in a fourth ectopic pregnancy.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
For the most part, the nurses were kind and thorough. However, my situation was not necessarily the “typical” situation of other patients at the clinic. I have had repeated pregnancies, all of which ended in loss. When I spoke with the nurses, they often had no knowledge of my history and would state canned responses to my issues of spotting or cramping. They also would say things like “at least you know you can get pregnant,” which is not very sensitive to a person who has had many many losses. On at least one occasion, the nurse that called me did not know what medicines I was prescribed. I do think that the nurses cared a lot, I just don’t think they had the time they needed to prepare for their calls.
Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The doctors at this clinic are conservative in a good way. I believe that they take their time before they recommend invasive strategies. However, I think that their conservative approach can sometimes get in the way of what is best for patients.

The nurse that called me did not know which medication had been prescribed to me and answered my questions about it almost flippantly.
Each time I’ve met with Dr. Rossi she has been incredibly kind, patient and thorough. She takes the time to get to know your personal history, current concerns and formulated a plan to fit your needs....Dr Rossi is very pleasant and easy to talk to. She treats you with respect and lays out all the information needed for you to make an educated decision about your own treatment....My first 3 months of treatment I took letrozle 5mg daily on cycle days 3-7 with timed intercourse.
The clinic [Univ Hospitals - Westlake] is great! All the staff are friendly. They seem to be very efficient in my experience. The office itself is always clean and the wait time is usually minimal. Sometimes if they have a lot of patients being monitored it can get a bit crowded in the waiting room... On an average monitoring appointment with lab work and ultrasound I am in and out in 30 minutes! That’s amazing! One of the nurses always calls me later that afternoon after talking to Dr Rossi with the results of my labs and an updated plan.

Dr Rossi is very pleasant and easy to talk to. She treats you with respect and lays out all the information needed for you to make an educated decision about your own treatment. Approximately 3 months ago I had an ectopic pregnancy. I went to my local emergency room and needed emergency surgery. I had called the clinic before going into surgery to let them know but Dr Rossi wasn’t in that day. I let the nurse know and she said to keep them posted. About an hour later Dr Rossi called me herself to find out how I was doing and give me some advice to make sure the surgeon did whatever she could to spare my damaged tube. Dr Rossi also called me 2 days later to check on me and make sure surgery went ok and to get an update and talk about where we go from there. She truly cares about her patients and their well-being and does what she can to make this difficult process a little easier.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
If you have had any prior testing or treatments, try to get all records from that to take with you on your consult visit. It is super helpful to have hard copies of everything right there with you and she then can dictate all your history right into your chart.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Each time I’ve met with Dr. Rossi she has been incredibly kind, patient and thorough. She takes the time to get to know your personal history, current concerns and formulated a plan to fit your needs.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
My first 3 months of treatment I took letrozle 5mg daily on cycle days 3-7 with timed intercourse. I had already tried Clomid with another doctor and although I was thought to ovulate with Clomid, she wanted to try something different. All 3 months I ovulated and all 3 months failed. After the letrozole, we switched back to Clomid and did 3 monitored IUI cycles. Again, Each cycle I ovulated and each cycle failed. We then met for a sort of “regroup” as I was getting tired of the same results. Our options were continue on oral medicated IUI cycles, try injectable IUI cycles or move on to IVF. Obviously, IVF gave us the best success rate but we pay out of pocket for treatment and can not afford IVF. We opted for injectable cycles with IUI. Dr Rossi said she would allow us to do 3 cycles but if they didn’t work that we would need to move onto IVF and that the sooner the better. I have done 2 cycles so far with Gonal-F injections beginning at 100iu on cycle day 3 and am monitored every other day. My doses have been tweaked a little here and there depending on my estradiol levels throughout the cycle. My first injectable cycle I had 1-2 mature follicles and triggered with Ovidrel for IUI 36 hours later. Beginning 3 days after IUI I start using Progesterone suppositories twice daily. Failed cycle. I am now currently in my two week wait after my second injectable cycle with the same protocol. This time I had 2-3 mature follicles. Crossing my fingers for a positive result!
Describe your experience with your nurse at University Hospitals Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Diane and Carol)
Both nurses that I see regularly at the clinic are phenomenal! I see them approximately 6 times per month and they are always pleasant, informative and gentle. I’m also very impressed with the speediness of the clinic. On an average monitoring appointment with lab work and ultrasound I am in and out in 30 minutes! That’s amazing! One of the nurses always calls me later that afternoon after talking to Dr Rossi with the results of my labs and an updated plan.
Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The clinic is great! All the staff are friendly. They seem to be very efficient in my experience. The office itself is always clean and the wait time is usually minimal. Sometimes if they have a lot of patients being monitored it can get a bit crowded in the waiting room, as it is small and there are only 8 or so chairs.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
My insurance covers the testing and medications so my cost was cut significantly by that. I pay approx $200 per month for the monitoring and medications. My IUIs cost $420 per cycle and an IVF cycle costs approx $10,000 (we haven’t gone through with that yet due to the cost)
Dr. Rossi makes me feel comfortable....I'm single ttc, so all of my procedures have been with donor sperm...She provides all options, and you decide what treatment you are comfortable with at the time. She is also comfortably conservative, meaning she doesn't rush to invasive surgeries without trying less invasive treatments or procedures first...She has also done both of my surgeries (lap. cystectomy and open myomectomy) with good results. I look forward to my 2nd IVF attempt in the summer 2018, once my uterus is completely healed from the myomectomy.

Dr. Rossi makes me feel comfortable. She provides all options, and you decide what treatment you are comfortable with at the time. She is also comfortably conservative, meaning she doesn't rush to invasive surgeries without trying less invasive treatments or procedures first. When I achieved my pregnancy via IVF, I sadly miscarried. She discussed the potential "why's" to the situation, but then gave me a sincere hug and said "I'm so sorry; we will keep working..." I felt so comforted and understood in that moment, which is why I continue to see her. She has also done both of my surgeries (lap. cystectomy and open myomectomy) with good results. I look forward to my 2nd IVF attempt in the summer 2018, once my uterus is completely healed from the myomectomy.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Prepare a list of questions before your appointment. It's so easy to forget something you wanted to discuss with her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi is both objective/clinical, while still being empathetic.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I'm single ttc, so all of my procedures have been with donor sperm. My first IUI was a natural cycle. Then I used clomid for the next few IUI's. My 5th IUI was a canceled IVF cycle due to lack of response (didn't have enough follicles to warrant an IVF cycle), so I did IUI. All 5 IUI's were negative. My 1st and only IVF resulted in a pregnancy in Oct. 2017, but I miscarried at 7 weeks. I had transferred two day 3 embryos, and was pregnant with a singleton. Since I had a miscarriage, we decided to move forward with an open myomectomy in Jan. 2018 to remove 6 fibroids, as well as endometriosis (which we already knew I had from the cystectomy I had in April 2017). I've done two egg retrievals. One before the 1st IVF cycle and a second cycle before the myomectomy. So now I have two day 3 embryos and two day 6 embryos. Once my uterus heals in 6 months (July 2018), I will transfer another embryo(s).

Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
You can make some appointments at the Westlake office (across from Crocker Park). This is more convenient for some rather than driving to Beachwood. Some procedures have to be done at the Beachwood location (Ahuja Medical Center). Everyone is so nice at both locations.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
IUI with donor sperm was $300 (not including the cost of sperm). IVF is $10,000 for egg retrieval and embryo transfer, plus another $2,000 or so for meds from a local pharmacy (depends on your specific protocol).
Describe Brooke Rossi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
Yes, my Dr. and the UH practice follows the guidelines; however, it depends on your age, health issues, etc. As well as the determined quality of your embryos, etc. The entire team discusses which embryos and how many you should transfer beforehand, but it's ultimately up to you and what you are comfortable with the day of transfer.
The only time you see the doctor [Dr. Brooke Rossi] is for consultations or surgeries. They don’t even perform the IUIs...When Dr. Rossi worked at the Cleveland office, I received no notification that she was leaving until another doctor walked into my procedure and introduced herself... I didn’t have much of an opportunity to get to know her other than in our initial consultation...On to IVF with no other options other than timed intercourse or another IUI.
If a single embryo transfer does not take [at University Hospitals Fertility Center], the next transfer is half off. If you elect to transfer multiples and none of them take, there is no discount for the next transfer...Office workers sometimes fail to check you in. Call center works great, nurses are relayed information quickly. NEVER willingly book an appointment on a Friday, they are often short staffed and you wait much longer...The only time you see the doctor is for consultations or surgeries. How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
When Dr. Rossi worked at the Cleveland office, I received no notification that she was leaving until another doctor walked into my procedure and introduced herself. None of the doctors in this office have a relationship with their patients. The nurses also switch every time I am in the office. Strictly a number.

PCOS- 2.5 mg Letrozole up to 5 mg of Leteozole. Follicles were growing, but fertilization/implantation never happened. Switched to IUI with trigger shot. 3x, no baby. On to IVF with no other options other than timed intercourse or another IUI.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The nursing staff is phenomenal. They are more my doctor than the actual doctor. I just wished I would have one nurse assigned to me so I felt someone actually knew my background/case and was able to lobby for me more appropriately.

Office workers sometimes fail to check you in. Call center works great, nurses are relayed information quickly. NEVER willingly book an appointment on a Friday, they are often short staffed and you wait much longer.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
Many appointments were covered for monitoring. Met deductible of $600 early on. IUI was $420 for each round. IVF is approximately $12000 depending on the package and that does not include meds.
Describe Brooke Rossi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
I completely disagree with my clinic’s policy on only implanting one unless you’re 35+. Again, it’s about money -not success. If a single embryo transfer does not take, the next transfer is half off. If you elect to transfer multiples and none of them take, there is no discount for the next transfer.

Dr. Rossi was caring, compassionate, and encouraging. She was my doctor when I began this journey and I often wish she still was! Dr. Rossi moved out of town and I had to transfer to another doctor. I really appreciated her gentle candor and her wisdom. I felt like I was in good hands. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Honestly I did not see any weaknesses. Through talking with other clinics and doctors, they have told me they would have approached my initial plan of treatment differently. However, I believe that the staff did their best and what they thought was the best plan of action for me.

Dr. Rossi was in no way mean or dismissive of me, but the lack of truly looking for what is wrong with me seemed unnecessary. I was made to feel that recurrent pregnancy loss is simply a condition that you have, and we will not have any answers as to why you have it or what has caused it, or what you can do to fix it. There were not answers, just thoughts on what could be tried. ... I essentially wasted 5 years knowing something was wrong with me but getting no assistance.

How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
My diagnosis with UH after seeing Dr. Rossi was that I plain and simply had recurrent pregnancy loss. I had two miscarriages prior to my care with UH and one under Dr. Rossi's care and 1 under Dr. Goldfarb's care. My largest frustration is I was never told what was wrong with me. There were no answers to what I could try and do to change my body, my health, etc., if there was something related to the recurrent pregnancy loss. I was not told to take my basal body temperature and chart it, I was not told to get various blood tests. I essentially wasted 5 years knowing something was wrong with me but getting no assistance. I largely felt because I could get pregnant and did not need IVF they would throw some drugs into me, and see if it works type of mentality. I do not like taking medications unless I absolutely have to and I felt as if drugs were the solution.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
do your research, research blood tests that are out there such as AMH, FSH, etc., I was not given these tests. I had no idea what my levels were. When I finally had the tests performed on the recommendation of my acupuncturist, I was off the charts with some of my levels. Be your own advocate and if you are in the area see Anne Kinchen for acupuncture. She is brilliant and more versed in fertility, drugs, tests that are needed.

Again, I would recommend being your own advocate. Do your own research get blood tests for pcos, look into the brand new testing that is out there for endo, beta integrine. These will never ever be mentioned to you at this clinic.

95% of the costs associated with Dr. Rossi were covered by my insurance because I was not pursuing IVF. The IUI had to be paid out of pocket, and was not covered by insurance.

Dr Rossi went through my whole medical history with trying to get pregnant. She didn't force any procedure but laid out several options over a varied time frame for my husband & I to consider. Every time I had a concern or question, I was able to reach out to her office & her nurses have been very helpful in answering everything & getting back to me in a timely manner...With my PCOS I know we need to be more aggressive & if I'm not pregnant by the summer we need to figure out a way to be able to afford the injections & iui.
Every so often the coding [at Cleveland Area] with certain procedures was off and after we were billed for things we were able to get certain things corrected in a timely manner. At one time the receptionist in the office called to apologize that something was coded incorrectly...I've mainly dealt with Diane & occasionally Carol. They have been really great at listening & answering all questions and concerns thoroughly. They would return your calls in a timely manner also.
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Like I said previously, Dr Rossi has been thorough with developing a plan to help get me pregnant. She understands that certain procedures are too costly for my husband & I & has looked at all routes in mapping out potential plans. We know the risk & cost with everything & wish we could afford it all. With my PCOS I know we need to be more aggressive & if I'm not pregnant by the summer we need to figure out a way to be able to afford the injections & iui. We've have several failed iui's & my husband is worried in shelling out more cash to something with a very low chance of working. We're tired of being disappointed but Dr Rossi has been willing to meet with us on several occasions to see what she can do. She has been helpful & we're still hoping for a miracle!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
I would say that dr Rossi gives her patients the time to listen that most doctors don't normally do.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Seven months prior to being with Dr Rossi, I was with another doctor who I did feel treated me like a number. It was a foreign doctor through another clinic whom at times I couldn't understand them verbally & who I felt couldn't understand me emotionally. Eventually after 7 failed months I went to Dr Rossi because she was referred to me through a friend. Dr Rossi went through my whole medical history with trying to get pregnant. She didn't force any procedure but laid out several options over a varied time frame for my husband & I to consider. Every time I had a concern or question, I was able to reach out to her office & her nurses have been very helpful in answering everything & getting back to me in a timely manner. Dr Rossi gave us a time frame that if I'm not pregnant by summer then we need a more aggressive approach (than just taking either clomid or letrozole with timed intercourse). She suggested hormone injections with iui & although we agree we need the more aggressive approach (since I have PCOS) the cost of all of this in two teachers salaries is quite more than we can squeeze, especially with no guarantee. In the mean time, my husband are remaining hopeful & trust our care with Dr Rossi.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
She prescribed me Clomid for several months (even though I was on letrozole for 7 months prior). We did a procedure to make sure my tubes were open & followed up with the trigger shot & iui. That again failed so my husband & I took two months off to relax & recover, & then was back at it on clomid. Now I'm on letrozole with the trigger shot & timed intercourse to see if that works. If it doesn't work over the next few months, then we need injectables .

Majority of the time Dr. Rossi was able to have procedures coated or in a way to ensure that my insurance would cover it and there wouldn't be any hassling when I would be billed. She would review our insurance information to make sure certain things would be covered and advised us when they wouldn't. I believe once or twice we did have an issue but luckily we were able to have it resolved.
Describe Brooke Rossi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
Dr. Rossi took time to talk with us and was very detailed in her explanations...I had to be my own advocate for testing. It turned out that I was Vitamin D deficient and my tsh level was elevated during my second pregnancy. I wish that I had been monitored better as I was already a known hypo patient and later found out that I have Hashimoto's disease.... I dealt with the nurses on most of my visits and not Dr. Rossi.
The one nurse [Univ Hospitals - Beachwood] I worked with was very compassionate and wonderful. Sadly, half the time, I had another nurse who seemed to be less than knowledgeable and actually told me based on my hcg levels, I likely "just had a chemical pregnancy." It was actually an ectopic and either way, the loss is still felt the same...I dealt with the nurses on most of my visits and not Dr. Rossi...
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi always took the time to explain things to us and made us feel comfortable enough to ask questions. She has exceptional bedside manner. I do feel that some things were overlooked that could have affected my fertility. I had to be my own advocate for testing. It turned out that I was Vitamin D deficient and my tsh level was elevated during my second pregnancy. I wish that I had been monitored better as I was already a known hypo patient and later found out that I have Hashimoto's disease. They only tested my TSH and never ran a full panel on my thyroid. This may have helped to prevent my first miscarriage. However, I dealt with the nurses on most of my visits and not Dr. Rossi.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Make sure that you request any blood work that you feel is necessary. You have to be your own advocate and become knowledgeable enough to know what to request. Otherwise, you may spend thousands of dollars on unsuccesful treatments only to find out, you just needed thyroid meds or Vitamin D supplements to restore fertility.

At 39, I conceived easily after two months of trying naturally. At 8 weeks we found that the heartbeat stopped. We tried again naturally for 3 months after the first loss and then started clomid with no other intervention. After 3 more months of not conceiving, we did an IUI on Clomid. I conceived with the first IUI and it turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. Dr. Rossi suggested we try IUI again and did not feel I needed intervention as aggressive as IVF, considering I had two pregnancies in less than a year. Our focus is now more on maintaining once I conceive again, rather than just the conception. I decided to see an acupuncturist and see if we can conceive without medical intervention.

She also referred by fiancé to a infertility urologist... Dr. Rossi is a very busy doctor with many patients. I understand why because she is a great doctor but it's hard to wait for long periods of time to get in to see her. The infertility is stressful and having to wait so long isn't the best.
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Brooke Rossi is an excellent doctor. She wants to help and assist to give me everything I've ever wanted- a child. She has listened to my story (losing a child in the past during open heart surgery) and my fears of the future. She makes me feel comfortable and I feel safe in her care. I know she is and will continue to do everything to make our dreams come true. Unfortunatley, we are dealing with male factor infertility, which is not something she can assist with. She referred us to an infertility urologist and works with that doctor to keep up to date with the status of the sperm count. Even though we are seeing the urologist a lot more than Dr. Rossi right now, I know she is still there for us and she's ready for us to come back and further our treatments.

The consultation was free. Everything else is too expensive and I'm having a very difficult time paying the medical bills.
I did 3 months of just clomid with monitoring and timed intercourse to get me to ovulate [with Dr.Rossi]. And then clomid with IUI and then injectibles. I sometimes needed to add additional treatments to aid with estrogen levels and to help build a lining. She encouraged me to continue with my natural treatments as well which included monitoring my diet to ensure I was getting the right foods as I lose weight and fall to an unhealthy BMI when under stress and acupuncture to help with stress, and also fertility.
They [nurses at University Hospitals Fertility Center] were all amazing. My nurse in particular was so warm and caring and the early morning appointments several times a week for monitoring weren’t filled with dread but comfort in knowing I was seeing someone compassionate who cared deeply...I don’t have anything to complain about. They were so responsive and made scheduling stress free and easy. Unknowns and last minute things cause anxiety in me and that was taken away completely working with this clinic. I always knew what to expect
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
I remember one instance I had concerns and she called me about 8 at night after what I’m sure was a long day for her. She spent 30 minutes talking through everything with me and we decided on a course of action. I slept that night because she took the time to call me. I didn’t get charged for a visit, she didn’t make me come in, she cared about me as a human who wanted a child more than anything and was anxious and worried every step of the way. And I generally felt like o was inconveniencing her. Her compassion is unmatched. When I had to stop treatments because life through me a huge curveball and 6 months later I called the clinic asking if I could get her opinion on my chances moving forward, I received a call back which brought me to tears. When I told her why I stopped coming a didn’t proceed with IVF I could hear the sadness on my behalf and empathy in her voice. Which I have experienced with very few doctors. And then she again took the time to talk to me about what my best options would be in the next year if I wanted to try and have a baby in the future. All of this knowing I was no longer a patient of hers and wouldn’t be, as I had plans to move away. She still cared about me as a human desperate for a child and was willing to take the time to consult with me over the phone and at the some time ease some of my anxieties while also being straightforward about my options and chances. It’s a delicate balance that Dr.Rossi achieves with ease.

The entire team from the front desk to the nurses were kind, genuinely caring, and very responsive. If I had questions or concerns Dr. Rossi woildnalways get back to me, even if it meant in the evening when she was done with patients and procedures. And spend the time to address all my concerns. I really can’t speak highly enough about this entire team. They truly evaluated every cycle individually and explained to me the next steps. I never once felt like they were treating me just the same as they do for every protocol. I know the entire team met weekly to review patients and treatments which was especially helpful if it was necessary to see a different doctor in the group when things fell on weekends. I always knew and felt the doctor knew of me and my situation. Speaking with other people who have gone through treatments elsewhere, I know how lucky I am to have had the experience of working with Dr Rossi. The money didn’t matter, the success rates of the clinic didn’t matter, what mattered to her was her patients feeling cared for and having individual success and happiness.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I don’t remember all the specifics but I did 3 months of just clomid with monitoring and timed intercourse to get me to ovulate. Most cycles but I was able to follow through with IUIs. I had 2 cancelled cycles. We were beginning the steps to move to IVF when I had to stop treatment due to unfortunate life circumstances.
Describe your experience with your nurse at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
They were all amazing. My nurse in particular was so warm and caring and the early morning appointments several times a week for monitoring weren’t filled with dread but comfort in knowing I was seeing someone compassionate who cared deeply. The indifference I’ve heard about from others, and through my experience as I’m starting this process again in a new place, makes me realize how lucky I was
Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
I don’t have anything to complain about. They were so responsive and made scheduling stress free and easy. Unknowns and last minute things cause anxiety in me and that was taken away completely working with this clinic. I always knew what to expect
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
I believe I just had to pay a specialist copay to work with her and $400 for each IUI. Because I have ovulation issues they worked to code all of my monitoring ultrasounds as diagnostic which was incredibly helpful. The dye test cost maybe 1500 out of pocket, but I imagine that depends on insurance and the hormones and medications were a couple thousand each cycle but again depends on if you have insurance that will cover any.
Dr. Rossi failed to follow through on my test results, we did not find out until we conceived a son with a rare genetic chromosomal disorder. (Two years after Dr. Rossi ordered the test)... I saw Dr. Rossi following 3 recurrent early miscarriages. I was told at my meeting with her to begin progesterone, and continue trying while she order testing. Genetic testing was ordered, and I began progesterone. Two weeks later we found out I was pregnant with our daughter.
The nursing staff [University Hospitals Fertility Center] shared with me that my testing was normal and that they would call if it was concerning. I did not receive a call and continued with the clinic for 3 months after my test results were in and was not given the results until two years later and a son born with a genetic disorder.... Follow through on your own test results and ask to see them. I was told they were normal but never saw the results
How was your experience with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi failed to follow through on my test results, we did not find out until we conceived a son with a rare genetic chromosomal disorder. (Two years after Dr. Rossi ordered the test) Dr. Rossi shared the results were never given to her from the lab at the hospital she worked for.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Follow through on your own test results and ask to see them. I was told they were normal but never saw the results because they did not get sent to her and were definitely not normal.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr Rossi failed to follow through on my blood work results. I was told no news is good news and that my genetic testing was normal. Conceived a healthy daughter. 15 months later, found out I was pregnant with a son and had an abnormal ultrasound. Was then told my results were not given to me by Dr Rossi and that I have a balanced translocation. Our son was born with partial trisomy 13 and 15.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
After 3 miscarriages Dr. Rossi started me on progesterone and since I got pregnant I was told that was my reasoning for recurrent miscarriages. (Really it is because I have a balanced translocation)

This clinic thawed their freezer and thousands of embryos were lost. They also don’t follow through with lab results. It’s difficult to find a stretch when lives have been altered greatly, especially my sons.

I saw Dr. Rossi following 3 recurrent early miscarriages. I was told at my meeting with her to begin progesterone, and continue trying while she order testing. Genetic testing was ordered, and I began progesterone. Two weeks later we found out I was pregnant with our daughter. We continued at the clinic and I was told my blood work genetic testing was normal and that they would have called if it was abnormal. I saw the nurses and Dr Rossi until I was 10 weeks pregnant and went on to have a healthy daughter. I then became pregnant with our son when my daughter was 6 months old. Dr. Rossi shared the reasoning for my miscarriages was lack of progesterone and started me on progesterone right away. I went for my early scan and everything seemed fine. I then went in for my 12 week NT and it was flagged. We met with the genetic counselor and I shared Dr Rossi did in fact do genetic testing but it was normal. Three days later the genetic counselor called to tell me she ‘dug into my file’ and found lab results that were abnormal, and that I have a balanced translocation. We then scheduled an amniocentesis and found out our son has partial trisomy 13 and 15. Conceiving naturally will not be in our future and we will need IVF with PGD.
She [Dr. Brooke Rossi] went out of her way to call me to discuss results. She has always been honest with me and respected my preferences...She is very knowledgeable and honest about my treatment. She has a good bedside manner the majority of the time. Even though she is knowledgeable, there are times that I felt she didn't give me all the information. I'm not sure how much she understands endometriosis.
Even though I trust all of the nurses [at University Hospitals], there was an incident when I did my first IUI (2013). One of the nurses gave us incorrect information regarding when we were allowed to have intercourse before the IUI. The sperm sample ended up being unusually low because my husband and I had intercourse too close to the time of the IUI, and the IUI ultimately failed. The nurse told us the wrong thing and I believe this is why the sperm sample was not of very good quality for the IUI.

Do your own research on fertility treatments and come up with specific questions to ask.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The nurses are very compassionate and knowledgeable. They always call back with results of early morning blood tests by late afternoon of the same day. They are always willing to answer any questions I have had.
Describe your experience with University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The clinic's staff of nurses and doctors seem to be very organized. The nurses are always kind and compassionate.
There was only one doctor out of the clinic's RE team that I had a bad experience with (Dr. Liu). He did not have a good bedside manner and he did not listen to me when I was in a lot of pain during an IUI procedure.
I think a big weakness of this clinic is that they mainly do Day 3 Embryo Transfers. Based on the research I have read, Day 5 embryos have the best chance of implanting. During each of my IVF cycles, the lab froze 2 Day 3 embryos so that I would have something to transfer. The rest of my embryos were allowed to grow out to Day 5 but none of them made it. Just be aware that this clinic focuses on Day 3 transfers, and I personally believe it is to make sure the patient has something to transfer instead of taking the risk that the patient has nothing to transfer.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
The only things covered by my insurance were ultrasounds and blood work. Everything else was paid for out of pocket.
An IUI with medication like Clomid cost around $500.
An IUI with injectables (such as Follistim) cost around $1100.
An IVF cycle cost about $9800. All of the medications for the IVF cycle cost around $4000. Therefore, one IVF cycle at UH costs around $14,000-15,000 if you are paying out of pocket.

I did not feel like we were pushed by Dr. Rossi to go in any direction, but I did trust her opinion and ended up taking her recommendation. We started the first cycle with a lupron protocol, but when my body ovulated through the lupron we cancelled the stimulation and egg retrieval and started over the next month with an antagonistic protocol. Dr. Rossi was very conservative with the stimulation and it ended up being a good thing since I did respond quickly and strongly and we ended up having to back off the stimulation toward the end. After egg retrieval I did end up overstimulating a little so we decided to freeze all the day 5 embryos and give my body the month off.
Dr. Rossi [at University Hospitals Fertility Center] was a wonderful and compassionate doctor. If I called and specifically requested to talk to her, she would return my call as soon as she could (though the nurses were usually able to give me the answers I needed)...All of the nurses were wonderful. They would get you in and out of the office quickly in the morning and called promptly in the afternoon after the results came in and a plan was made. They were able to answer my questions thoroughly or would get the answers I needed as quickly as possible.

Dr. Rossi was a wonderful and compassionate doctor. If I called and specifically requested to talk to her, she would return my call as soon as she could (though the nurses were usually able to give me the answers I needed). She explained the IVF process thoroughly and in a way we could understand it. We discussed our odds and risks and made a plan with her that suited our situation and desired outcome.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
You probably will not see Dr. Rossi at every visit. All of my morning monitoring visits were handled by the nursing staff and techs. If she was in the office she would pop in to say hello. The procedures will also be handled by the doctor on the schedule that day, but all are wonderful and well informed.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center?
Dr. Rossi and the nursing staff always remembered who I was and what our current status was despite the large number of patients. I always felt like my questions were valid and felt things were sufficiently explained throughout the process.
Describe the protocols Brooke Rossi used in your cycles at University Hospitals Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did start by doing a few more rounds of oral medication with IUI. This was mostly diagnostic, to monitor my cycles more closely than my OBGYN did and get an idea of what my body was/was not doing. The result of these was simply unexplained infertility. We did have one chemical pregnancy from these cycles. Dr. Rossi discussed with us that our options going forward were injectable stimulation with IUI or IVF. We discussed the potential risk of large numbers of multiples or cancelled cycles since I was a high responder to stimulation and opted to go directly to IVF to have more control over how many embryos were given a chance to implant. After egg retrieval I did end up overstimulating a little so we decided to freeze all the day 5 embryos and give my body the month off. My first transfer the next month ended up being successful and resulted in a pregnancy that is currently in the third trimester.

The clinic runs like a well oiled machine in the morning during monitoring appointments. They get to blood and ultrasounds done quickly and you always meet with a nurse to make sure you are on the same page about the status of your current cycle. I was usually in and out of the office for those appointments in less than 30 minutes. Appointments are as early as 7:00 AM. The waiting area never had children in it for morning appointments and rarely if you had to come in later in the day. You will deal with RN's 90% of the time and you may to have "your" doctor on the day of your procedures since it's a practice.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Brooke Rossi at University Hospitals Fertility Center.
IVF was not covered by my insurance. The "package price" for egg retrieval, fertilization with or without ICSI and one transfer was about 9k. Medications were not included. Monitoring appointments were not covered by my insurance but were $200 per appointment.
Dr Rossi has always been upfront with us. She always tries to give us as much information as she can about all of the different options available even if they aren’t the “traditional” route. We have went from IUI’s to IVF and back to IUI’s which is where we have had most of our success. It has wonderful that she has been there beside us and available to talk with each loss each time being an encouraging force...always takes time out to make sure that we are okay with everything that is going on and is willing to reach out if we need anything.
They [Ohio Reproductive Medicine] have been wonderful to work with. Their strength has been the ability to pivot in difficult situations. Describe Brooke Rossi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Ohio Reproductive Medicine.
Dr Rossi encouraged using one embryo at a time. Offered to do two after we had a couple losses but we declined.
Dr. Rossi's initial consultation with me was virtual because of COVID. She made sure she understood me as a person as well as my medical chart. She was always very kind and knowledgeable. She always made sure I understood the course of action and what was expected of myself and her and her staff as well...I could ask any questions at all and they would always have the answers and reassure me.
[the ORM nurse] allowed me to ask questions without feeling inadequate for asking those questions. She always asks how I was feeling and allowed to me learn more about my treatment...I only went to the clinic three times. Each time it was very clean and everyone was very nice. The front desk person was very nice and helpful. All the machinery was clean and working properly. I have complaints. I also feel that this clinic is very affordable and competent.

I have PCOS so the goal was to ovulate and make sure there was no other reason as to why I was not getting pregnant on my own. I was given Letrozole and had timed intercourse. I also went and got the procedure done where they shoot dye up into your tubes to ensure they are clear.

This clinic was cheaper than my regular doctor's. I feel that all of my procedures and tests were reasonably priced.
Dr Rossi is very compassionate and allows time in the visit to go over every option and details. She is very honest. She understand my situation and is reassuring that a child is in my future. She takes patient preference into the plan of care.... 3 rounds with clomid and 1 with letrizole. Negative results thus far. She did not feel use of ovidrel was necessary because I had accurate home opk kits, although she was open to using if I preferred
[University Hospitals Fertility Center- Westlake] Has a satellite office on the west side and main site in beechwood - sometimes the communication and charting can be unorganized between the two offices. Often have to use both sites as sperm stored at main site and satellite not open on weekends... The nicest group of nurses. Very empathetic and understanding... Dr. Rossi is very personable, while also completely telling it “like it is.”...I felt as though I did not receive proper testing/diagnosis. My first round of IVF should have been canceled. We went through with it at the last second, and I was not mentally prepared for what was happening...My protocol started very basic / low dose. Because I was not responding, I was practically maxed out on stims. It was more of a “one size fits all” approach- and it did NOT work...allowed us to transfer our last 2 frozen blasts because the quality was so poor.
They have made minor mistakes. Overall, the staff at UH is incredible...[Monitoring is a] Cattle call! The waiting room would be filled with patients. First come, first served...My IVF rounds are UH we’re $9,500 a piece...The clinic is far too large. I would make appointments at 6:40 for monitoring and not be seen until 7:30. It caused a tremendous amount of stress, as I was constantly late for work. They also have a lot of red tape. My new clinic wants to try Human Growth Hormone, and UH will absolutely not incorporate it into a protocol.
