The people at the REI Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center and the personnel at SRM have met and exceeded my standards when it comes to care...Everyone that we've encountered seem very knowledgeable in the field. They understand the complex sensitive nature of infertility and always answer our questions and concerns with care...staff were very transparent when it came to explaining the cost, procedure, and risks involved with IVF.
How was your experience with Bruce Pier at Madigan Army Medical Center?
We started seeing Dr. Pier shortly after the laparoscopy that I underwent in March of 2019. Dr. Pier has always been upfront and has answered all questions that my husband and I had for him. Dr. Pier always made sure that we were comfortable and had all the resources and materials needed to proceed with the IVF process. If not for the fact that Dr. Pier can only see patients with Tricare or military couples, I would recommend Dr. Pier to any and everyone suffering from infertility.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Bruce Pier at Madigan Army Medical Center?
The advice that I would give to any perspective patient of Dr. Pier would be to finally breathe. You are in good hands with Dr. Pier and his staff at the REI Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center. During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Bruce Pier at Madigan Army Medical Center?
Dr. Pier is the 2nd doctor that we started seeing more often at Madigan Army Medical Center. The REI staff works as a team, so you'd get to interact with different residents and sometimes medical students on each visit. At first it was a bit odd seeing different face(s), but you'll get to know the constant friendly staff like Mike, who welcomes and checks you in and the registered nurses like Marisa. Everyone that we've encountered seem very knowledgeable in the field. They understand the complex sensitive nature of infertility and always answer our questions and concerns with care.
Describe the protocols Bruce Pier used in your cycles at Madigan Army Medical Center and their degree of success.
Treatment strategies that Dr. Pier recommended to myself and my husband were to first utilize IUI to try to conceive. We did this for about 6 months, the medications used were Letrozole and Ovidrel. After seeing no results for that 6 month period Dr. Pier then looked at my results from the laparoscopy and discovered that my remaining fallopian tube also had significant scarring. Dr. Pier then recommended that we try IVF, Dr. Pier and his staff were very transparent when it came to explaining the cost, procedure, and risks involved with IVF. The IVF cycle that we completed with Dr. Pier yielded significant results, 24 eggs retrieved, 20 matured, 15 fertilized, and 9 embryos. The medications that Dr. Pier prescribed for the IVF cycle were Gonal F, Menopur, Ganirelix, and Ovidrel.

The staff at the REI Clinic at Madigan Army Medical Center always showed my husband and I compassion and understanding every single visit we had there. Without them and their tireless efforts of making my husband and I comfortable with our care we probably would not have yielded the results we did for our IVF cycle.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Bruce Pier at Madigan Army Medical Center.
Doctor visits, prescriptions, labs, and the laparoscopy were all covered by insurance. IUI costs were $200 per session. IVF was $8,584 for the cycle.

At this time we currently have not undergone embryo transfer, we are scheduled for transfer in June of 2020.
