Dr. Celso Silva called after every cycle (successful or failed)...He explains things in great detail and is careful to separate clinic reasoning from emotional reasoning...He is even keeled, even in times of great distress (like finding out my miscarriage was molar...Given the PCOS diagnosis, we opted to start a cycle late, rather than possibly wait 40 days to start another...We did 5mg Letrozole on CD5-10, the follicles were maturing, but slowly, and my body surged before we were ready to trigger.
All of the nurses of [Shady Grove Fertility-Tampa Westshore] here are amazing...They are consistently available to answer questions. They are warm, kind and knowledgeable...called me that day as well, and she and the other nurse did an excellent job coordinating my D&C and after care...Cash IUIs typically run about $3000. We do not know what we paid for the D&C...They have the benefit of sharing best practices across their 20+ offices and have developed tools that assess the likelihood of a successful pregnancy

Don't be afraid to ask questions! He never takes offense and is very good at breaking down the science.

Silva called after every cycle (successful or failed). When we lost the baby, he met with us personally (he did not do the US where we couldn't find a heartbeat). When we found out the pregnancy was molar, he made the phone call to me, rather than a nurse.

IUI #1 was kind of a joke and Silva refuses to recognize it as a real cycle. We were referred to SGF after our previous clinic, USF, abruptly closed. We had our consult on CD5. Given the PCOS diagnosis, we opted to start a cycle late, rather than possibly wait 40 days to start another. We did 5mg Letrozole on CD5-10, the follicles were maturing, but slowly, and my body surged before we were ready to trigger. The cycle failed. IUI #2 we started 7.5mg of letrozole on CD3-8. Monitoring went well, we had a 23mm dominant follicle and a second at around 17. This IUI was successful, but we lost the heartbeat in the 9th week. It appears that we had a tripoloid, and post D&C, the pathology report revealed a molar pregnancy.

SGF has a better "feel" than most clinics. It's clean, bright, and everyone is clearly on one team. They have the benefit of sharing best practices across their 20+ offices and have developed tools that assess the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. Our experience with them has been great.

First cycle with donor egg involved standard fertility protocol of del estrogen, estradiol and PIO. We successfully had a son. For the last 14 months I’ve undergone many tests trying to determine why my uterus retains fluid and has cysts. In this time, we have learned through transfer preps. (Cancelled) and biopsy’s that a natural protocol with letrozole is best for me. We learned I have no healthy biome in the uterus and have worked onincreasing the healthy bacteria. I am currently preparing for another Alice and Emma test. We hope to transfer our last embryo this year. We transferred one using a natural cycle 8 weeks ago and it did not take.

As a married person wanting to freeze eggs for a post-divorce embryo transfer, I initially felt very sensitive about being welcome. It's a touchy subject and Dr. Silva did his best to communicate limitations (medical, legal). He showed good effort to make me feel welcome.

Dr. Silva asked me to repeat standard bloodwork to be sure of my levels of Estrogen and other hormones that are impacted due to my underlying condition. He reminded me along the way that moving forward with the best information possible would give the best outcome possible--even though I was concerned that it would delay my retrieval. Because of this, we know a lot more about what level of aggressiveness we will use in my egg retrieval to help my Low AMH and high Estrogen allow my 12 eggs to mature as viably as possible.

Shady Grove has some of the best data in the business because of their large size and long history. Like many places during the pandemic, sometimes the administrative team is overwhelmed by the volume of patients and the being understaffed. If you feel comfortable staying on top of your own plan, you are in really good shape to benefit from their large scale data and know-how.

Overall, we have had a really good experience with Shady Grove. They have multiple locations which are all very convenient. As of April 2022, all new patient consultations and appointments not requiring testing/procedures are done virtually. We were hesitant not to meet in person given the big decisions we were making, but the virtual appointments have been very productive and convenient. The online portal is very helpful to message nurses/docs, pay invoices and even take educational offerings to better understand your care.

We are using ovulation medication and timed intercourse for a few cycles, then moving on the IUI if unsuccessful.

The entire nursing staff is super compassionate and willing to take the time to explain treatment instructions, billing protocols and pretty much anything else. They go above and beyond and we could not be happier with our care.

So far, we have spent $1,500 for new patient consultation, HSG, mock embryo transfer, saline ultrasound, blood work for both of us and one cycle of timed intercourse including ovulation medication. We were quoted $800 per cycle of timed intercourse and have not gone further than that at this point. They are very transparent with pricing and work with your insurance company directly.

It became clear very quickly that the treatment plan was cookie cutter. When that didn’t work for me, he played the blame game and said I wasn’t working hard enough. He body shamed me frequently, and even suggested I should have bariatric surgery (which further delays fertility treatment). We attempted one cycle after standing our ground with him. I never communicated with him once during the portion of the cycle we attempted, and we were unable to complete the cycle as planned. Then we were hit with a bill for ultrasounds that previously had been FREE—suddenly 2 ultrasounds cost 1k! We left knowing that Silva and Shady Grove are not in this to help others—it’s all about numbers and money.

We used Prover to induce a cycle. He made me take a disease of Letrozole that I had previously tried and didn’t have success with even after I said I didn’t want to. He had me taking 1450mg daily of Metformin also.

Be ready w a list of questions. Right down the answers bc he talks very fast. He does not sugar coat things, but remains optimistic at the same time.

Shady Grove is clearly a well-run machine. They have a number of offices in the US. And they do a large volume of patients. But we still felt like our case was being specifically looked at, as opposed to just another infertility case.

I am over 40 w decent numbers. My husband does not have a low sperm count, but he doesn’t have great sperm. We did one IUI and 2 rounds of IVF w our own eggs. My numbers were decent for my age so the same medications were used for our second round of IVF, just w slightly higher doses. We did ICSI and also did PGT testing. I would not suggest doing the PGT testing. There are too many studies out there that show it is t a perfect science and that perfectly good embryos are actually being discarded bc of the testing. Shady Grove will not transfer any abnormal or mosaic embryos. I understand that not transferring them can save the patient from some heart ache, but after much thought, I think the heart ache is better than the results of the PGT. Especially when it results in zero embryos to transfer, as it did w us.

Our nurse, Beth, was great. She does talk a lot, so be prepared. But she will stay on the phone as long as you want and she will always call you back or email you even when she’s super busy. We have zero complaints about the staff.

The financial person was a joke. She’s just a glorified credit card runner. The office manager was amazing. The Nurse Practitioner who does all your ultrasounds was great as well. This clinic is quite thorough and we felt that as patients.

Dr. Silva is a great communicator. He fully has your best interest at heart...will go over all your medical records and test right there in front of you and explain everything...discusses the options and reasons for each option. Ultimately he agrees with your decision though on how aggressive you want to be with treatment. My favorite thing is how he listens to me and fully addresses each concern I have.
I do like how [Shady Grove Fertility] has a "team approach" to handling patients. I have my own nurse who is great, forgetful at times but super nice. The financial advisor Teressa I do not care for at all...pretty pricey. Obviously all fertility treatments are pricey, but comparing to other clinics they are higher...nursing staff is all wonderful though.

I had previously done 2 50mg clomid cycles with my OBGYN, which did not make me ovulate. I did achieve spontaneous pregnancy upon my initial consulation with USF IVF. However, I miscarried that baby. USF IVF then merged with shady grove. So coming to Dr. Silva he understood that I wanted to start IUI since I do not ovulate regularly on my own at all. First IUI he tried 5 mg of letrozole since clomid did not make me ovulate previously. 1 follicle matured and I had my IUI day 19. negative pregnancy test. For the 2nd IUI we increased letrozole to 7.5mg and I had 1 follcile mature again but had my IUI day 12! Negative pregnancy test. Now I am choosing to move onto IVF which Dr Silva agrees with or even agrees with me doing 2 more IUI's.

Beth can be forgetful at times. However, more than not she is on top of calling me or messaging in the portal. She always answers any questions I have.

Shady grove is pretty pricey. Obviously all fertility treatments are pricey, but comparing to other clinics they are higher. I do like the team approach this office has. The nursing staff is all wonderful though.

IUI's are $1650 including ultrasounds but not medications. That is higher than other clinics I have seen. IVF quotes are around 20k including medications.

[Dr. Silva] listened with out interrupting us and once we had all our questions he had an answer to all in terms we could understand and that made us feel so at ease. I have pcos, and he was trying to explain to my fiancé what that meant for me...at that time I felt very happy and understood. Then he went on explaining all the types of treatments we can do and the most funny thing he began to draw how the iui would work and at the end of his drawing he drew a little baby in the uterus, we all laughed.. we have that drawing in our journey book/folder till today.
The clinic [at Shady Grove Fertility] is very organized and clean, The facility has a lab, they had an exam room where I had an ultrasound to see my follicles which the room was clean and nicely decorated. We remember the first visit we had with Dr.Silva, he can sense our nervousness and excitement so he began to talk to us as if we were not in a doctors office, but maybe at a coffee shop. He began to talk about his wife and his life and made us feel like we knew him. At ShadyGrove the nursing staff and Doctor look at you in the eyes when they talk to you to explain all your doubts, they answered all the questions thoroughly for my and my fiancé

Once I completed all my blood work it was known I needed a medication for elevated hormone levels in my blood so I needed a medication treatment called cabergoline 0.5mg once per week for 1 month, the medication made me feel funny at first but then my body got adjusted. Also had a test to check my Fallopian tube which came out normal. When all the testing was completed he and us decided on IUI cycles, he directed us to the financial team and we discussed cost. Once all was settled unfortunately we had to stop due to a family member diagnosed with breast cancer.

My nurse would answer all the billion questions I forgot to ask the doctor without any hesitation and if she was not sure she would ask the doctor without ever having me feel like I was bothering her. She would send me important information regarding fertility and the process, as well as check up on us and how We were feeling.

Dr Silva is candid and thorough. I appreciated his honesty and his go get attitude. He didn’t pull any punches but tried to be caring in his delivery. Even if the news wasn’t great, he worked to make sure you understood and he let you know we could work through this...I had some uterine scarring removed, confirmation of left tubal blockage and a benign uterine polyp removed. Diagnostic labs revealed no other abnormalities.
The [SGF] facility itself is brand new and very clean. I always enjoyed going there and felt safe and cared for. No real weakness. The staff was always friendly and professional and I didn’t have to wait long for any of my appts...The nursing staff was amazing. They made my feel comfortable and even shared their own personal experiences with fertility and that meant so much.

I was always welcomed by the staff and by Dr Silva. My time was also appreciated. Dr Silva took my appt over the previous appt because I showed up on time. So I wasn’t bumped back waiting.

I was seen by SGF for a more thorough work up of testing for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and subsequent HSG and Hysteroscopy. I had some uterine scarring removed, confirmation of left tubal blockage and a benign uterine polyp removed. Diagnostic labs revealed no other abnormalities.

The cost for SGF was one of the determining factors for my not proceeding with an IVF cycle with them. I knew I could go with a less expensive clinic so although the care, facility and staff are awesome, the cost was significantly greater for someone like me paying out of pocket.

We had an antagonist protocol [with Dr. Silva]. I did birth control pills to prime. Once we started stims, I was on agonal F and Menopur. Cetrotide was added later. I did a Lupron trigger. I ended up with 14 Mature Eggs, 13 fertilized, 6 day 5 Blasts and then 4 PGS normal...He really cares about his patients. He takes the time to explain everything, and he is present for all of the procedures and tests...has a great bedside manner. He also takes the time to listen during your appointment. I've never felt rushed. He also kept budget in kind when discussing treatment options. I really do not have any complaints with his care.
Every person in this office [Shady Grove Fertility] has been incredibly caring, hard working and responsive. I've never had to track down test results because they call as soon as they can. They are prompt to return emails and calls if you have a question for them...The monitering hours are early, so I'm able to get in and out without being late for work...We were accepted into a program through Shadh Grove that reduced some of the out of pocket costs, so our IUI was $1,200.00 plus meds. We also opted to do the Shared Risk program, which is a multi cycle program that clocks in at $19,500. We opted to do PGS testing, which was an additional $5,000. The medication cost about $2,900.

I honestly do not have any complaints about Shady Grove. They have all been wonderful. Their hours are good and the location is easy to get to from where I live. Billing has always been on top of everything and ready to answer questions. Scheduling appointments has been an easy process.

I only checked other because when I started going there, i was given appointment times. Now they are trying out the monitering hours. The monitering hours are early, so I'm able to get in and out without being late for work.

She communicates with me often and has assured me I can call her anytime with questions.... The staff, including doctor and nurses, are kind and compassionate. They explain things and genuinely seem like they want to help you. IVF is also less expensive than my previous facility. So far my husband and I have only met with Dr. Silva for our initial consultation. He spent an hour with us going over health records and previous treatment plan. He immediately changed the action plan and provided explanations as to why. He stopped by to say goodbye to us and his office has been in touch with me since giving me details on the action plan and what to do next. We genuinely feel they are there to help.

He was very aggressive with my treatments which is what I wanted. He knew what medication would work for me and knew I didn’t want to waste time. I ended up responding better when he increased the dosage of my ovulation induction medication but unfortunately it ended in a loss of pregnancy very early on.

They nursing staff was ok. They didn’t always communicate and were very hard to reach when needed. They were always friendly but I received a lot of misleading information from them.

There were multiple times that I was not notified of specific instructions on medication administration. I had a few times where my results were not sent to me in a timely manner as well as needing to cancel an iui cycle because they prescribed the wrong medication.

Medicated timed intercourse with letrozole and trigger shot. Used to treat anovulation from PCOS. Ovulation occurred but no pregnancies. Medicated IUIs. Combo cycles with femara and injections with trigger. Ovulation occurred but no pregnancies. Last cycle, no response to meds. IVF with PGS/ICSI freeze all cycle with FET. Pregnant and had a singleton.

Several nurses were great but there was one in particular who most definitely was not. She didn’t belong in the infertility field. Very cold and gruff.

You have to prepay to even begin as an established patient [at Center for Reproductive Medicine] before even being seen by the doctors, which isn’t what I was used to. The staff is however very friendly and helpful when you call or have any kind of questions...He [Dr. Celso Silva] decided I had a possible blockage and needed to send the sperm closer to the egg try 3 cycles of IUI, then IVF...He was very kind and explained our situation well.

He was very nice and went through extensive details of why me and my husband might not be conceiving- we had my former OB who I did my Clomid and Letrozole treatments with and husbands sperm analysis send over her paper work. He went through each page with us, reading carefully. He checked my tubes during a office visit and then went up my cervix with a camera to check to see if there was any scar tissue blocking me from getting pregnant from my c-section. Next step was 3 IUIs, then to IVF. He thought there might be a blockage where the sperm cannot reach the egg. We didn’t continue treatment because of the out of pocket costs and traveling out of town missing work.

I included this in a previous answer. He decided I had a possible blockage and needed to send the sperm closer to the egg try 3 cycles of IUI, then IVF. The mounting costs of all these procedures weighted heavy on our shoulders ontop of the drive to the clinics (45 minutes away) and missing work. My insurance doesn’t cover anything with fertility treatments

Copays for diagnostic treatment. Then when I started rounds of IUI it was completely out of pocket and had to be paid before treatment was given. I would have to pay for medications, sonograms, sperm washing and handling and the actual treatment itself.

It would however be great if he was more involved throughout the process. My husband and I have only spoke to him on two occasions. I don’t know if this is typical since he’s the only doctor I’ve seen at the only clinic I’ve been to...Utilize his knowledge and ask lots of questions while you have him.

We went from an unexplained infertility diagnosis and a plan of trying a few IUIs to requiring IVF with PGT-M to avoid passing down a genetic disease. We have done two cycles so far. First cycle we did 2 letrozole for 5 days, one ovidrel shot and the IUI. On the 2nd cycle, we did 3 letrozole for 5 days and two ovidrel shots before the IUI.

Leslie is very organized and provides a calendar each month for me so I know what medications to take and when. She was also very sympathetic when she called with my negative pregnancy test results and was already prepared with a new (stronger) protocol for the next months cycle.

SGF is very organized and the offices are very clean. I am working from home, so I’m not sure about flexibility when it comes to scheduling appointments as I just always take what’s given to me. As the appointments are based on your cycle, they come quickly and at any open slot, so I can see how it might be difficult for someone in the office or working a job that isn’t as flexible.

Most of the testing done initially was covered by insurance, but my insurance doesn’t cover IUI and we pay $1,600 per cycle
