My treatment strategies were carefully coordinated by [Dr. Sullivan-Pyke] and [other]. Because I have diminished ovarian reserve and high FSH, it was necessary to be closely monitored. This usualy entailed being at the office 3 -4 times a week for bloods and sonograms. Depending on my hormone levels and the sonograms they would carefully construct medication protocols that catered to the individual needs of my body. In my particular case, too much stimulation was not necessary
Monitoring [at Kofinas Fertility Group] takes place between 7am and 9am. It is first come first serve unless you are just coming for blood work only. There is an ipad when you first walk in that you check in. It is a very organized process...I am very fortunate to have medical insurance. However, with that being said I have so far spent since March of 2019 about $25,000. This includes copays, medications, and procedures.
How was your experience with Chantae Sullivan-Pyke at Kofinas Fertility Group?
Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Kofinas are extremely warm and caring individuals. Every single dealing I have had with them has been extremely pleasant and professional. They take the time to carefully craft your protocol because they understand that not every woman's reproductive journey is the same.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Chantae Sullivan-Pyke at Kofinas Fertility Group?
Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Kofinas are honest and will not "sugar coat" a prognosis. I totally respect this approach and encourage it. While many may see this as being harsh, the truth is that their honesty and transparency are what helped me navigate this difficult journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Chantae Sullivan-Pyke at Kofinas Fertility Group?
Dr. Sullivan and Dr. Kofinas are by far the most caring physicians I have ever met. Both always take the time to answer all of my questions with care and precision. They always make me feel as though I'm the most important case regardless of how busy their day is. These qualities make this difficult journey very tolerable. They gave me the strength I needed to move forward no matter how hard the journey has been.

Depending on my hormone levels and the sonograms they would carefully construct medication protocols that catered to the individual needs of my body. In my particular case, too much stimulation was not necessary. This is a very careful science and so protocols for each cyle varied and because of that it is hard to remember the exact treatment strategies.

I believe the clinis has many strengths one being that they genuinely care about their patients and that is a very motivating factor duirng this journey. The one weakness is that there needs to be better and clearer communication among the nursing staff.

We [Dr. Chantae Sullivan-Pyke] only did three cycles of IUI. I was scheduled for laparoscopy surgery to check to see if I had endometriosis and to make sure my uterus had no issues before moving forward. She wanted to check to see if there were any issues before we moved on to either IUI or proceeded with IVF. We were planning to determine which path to take based on the results of the procedure....
All of my needs and most procedures took place at the Manhattan Office (65 Broadway)[Kofinas Fertility Group]. Everyone was well aware of what was going on. Financial advisors were extremely knowledgeable about my coverage. The doctors and nurses were able to help me navigate prescription drug coverage as well...I wish that they had an MSW or Psychologist on staff to counsel women when they do not have a successful cycle or miscarry. To their credit, they do offer referrals for counselors, therapists, and support groups.
How was your experience with Chantae Sullivan-Pyke at Kofinas Fertility Group?
The comprehensive medical plan was explained empathetically with detail. She shared all of my results with me and explained how the treatment plan addressed my needs as a patient. She asked us if we had any questions, so that both my husband and I can voice our concerns.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Chantae Sullivan-Pyke at Kofinas Fertility Group?

She wanted to check to see if there were any issues before we moved on to either IUI or proceeded with IVF. We were planning to determine which path to take based on the results of the procedure. Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit NYC, I have been in touch with her and am continuing on my regimen of medications to ensure that all my hormone levels remain ideal for fertility when we resume treatment this summer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kofinas Fertility Group.
The nursing staff returns your calls within the day. Each nurse has been friendly and supportive. Nurses are also able to answer questions about the process and were extremely helpful with explaining and teaching me how to take a trigger shot.

[Dr. Sullivan-Pyke] is amazing. Shes very patient , explain all procedures and protocols. She is always smiling, and very warming. I recommend her as a doctor she truly loves helping her patients and she has great communication... Since I was considered a high risk patient before hand it was best to transfer 1 embryo and it worked...she was non judgmental which made me comfortable to speak to her.
The strength of this clinic [at Kofinas Fertility Group is] they truly care and will try to get every single patient pregnant and they do many testing to diagnose the issue. The weakness is its a bit expensive clinic. Even with great insurance I still came out of pocket for about 7,000...Since I was considered a high risk patient before hand it was best to transfer 1 embryo and it worked!
