Dr. Witz is very knowledgeable and willing to try and tweak new protocols to best fit you and your needs. At the consult he was very endearing and seemed like he would be present a lot during the actual treatment cycle. After not seeing him for my first for monitoring visits, when I did finally see him I was very excited, however he spent less than 2 minutes with me. After our egg retrieval failed we had a re-group visit with him- he could not explain why we had such poor results and we didn’t feel genuine reactions from him. It seemed like he did not know how to handle complex cases.
[Aspire Houston Fertility Institute] Strengths are a lot of doctors to choose from, and you can easily switch to another one within the system. Weakness are that the offices are old and outdated. A fertility clinic should feel relaxing- theirs is dark and gloomy. Financial department does not communicate with each other and they raise their prices constantly. Appointments do not run on time, no matter which clinic you choose. I had the worst cycle out of my 3 egg retrievals at this clinic because I was not monitored closely enough and was given the wrong protocol. Patients who don’t require extra care or attention, or don’t have complex cases, will be successful here.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Craig Witz at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic)?
Be aware that he is not willing to try experimental treatments and is pretty set in his ways.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Craig Witz at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic)?
We only spoke to him at the consult and 1 or 2 times during monitoring during the stimulation process. He had ultrasound techs performing ultrasounds, and was not present for my actual egg retrieval. He was also not available by phone, text, or email, and any communication had to be done with an in person consult not covered by the fee already paid for the IVF cycle. Nurses also consistently mixed up information about me and did not seem to enjoy their job.
Describe the protocols Craig Witz used in your cycles at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We tried the long Lupron protocol since I have endometriosis and poor egg and embryo quality. I retrieved 9 eggs, only 4 mature, 3 fertilized, and no blastocysts.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Maria )
The day of my baseline scan I asked if I could meet my nurse to the first person sitting at the counter. She responded and said “well I guess it’s me because xyz is busy”. It is near impossible to communicate with their nursing team. There is not a direct line to call the clinic so you either have to leave a message with their answering service or call the nurses line and pray that one of them decide to pick up. Sending a message on the portal will get you a response hours or days later, and if you happen to have a question after hours, you get routed to the on-call nurse who can take even longer to get back to you. There is no way to email or directly correspond with your nurses.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
I could choose the time of monitoring appointments but they never ran on time. It was first come first serve, so you check in at 9:45am for your 10:30am appointment and you will be seen before the 9:45am patient. They only have 1-2 people drawing blood for 30+ people trying to be seen.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
I was told that the day after my retrieval I would get a call to learn about how many of my eggs were mature and fertilized. The clinic closes at 5, and by 4pm I still had not received a call. I started to call on my own and because they don’t have a direct line, my calls were not being answered. The nursing line also did not pick up my calls. I sent portal messages, only for my nurse to finally answer and say “sorry I’m not sure why they didn’t call you, but here are your results” with no empathy or compassion, or explanation since it was out of the nurse’s scope. Later at 6:30pm that night I get a message from embryology with the results, with no apology for the delay and no explanation as to why my results were so poor.
Dr. Witz explained what we should expect, was present for our appointments, performed both of my procedures himself and worked with us. As we traveled from out of town, he helped with finding a local clinic for my monitoring. He made me feel very relaxed and comfortable prior to my egg retrievals, making time to chat and explain what to expect prior to the actual surgery...non-judgemental and open-minded and so down to earth...
The waiting room [at Houston Fertility Institute] is comfortable and welcoming. The staff is friendly and understanding. The world's best phlebotomists - seriously didn't even feel the blood draws. Describe the protocols Craig Witz used in your cycles at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We were freezing embryos for later (mid to late 30s and just wanted to wait a little longer to have our first). After my blood work, I was put on vitamin D to get my levels up. Then we did the desogen, followed by gonal-f and menopur. Then added in cetrotide after about a week. Then ovidrel for the trigger, followed by the egg retrievals. We did ICSI, PGS and then the freezing.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Miranda (1st retreival) and Cecilia (2nd retrieval))
Both of my nurses were very responsive to my questions sent through the portal and by phone. They answered all of my questions and didn't make me feel silly or stupid for asking. When my monitoring clinic didn't send over my results, Miranda followed up with them, so I didn't have to and kept me in the loop on the status of everything.

Piney Point Office
Strengths: The waiting room is comfortable and welcoming. The staff is friendly and understanding. The world's best phlebotomists - seriously didn't even feel the blood draws. The office is set up in a circular format with rooms and offices surrounding a centralized nurse desk. This makes it easy to schedule follow ups and ask questions of the nurses before leaving. We always got a good parking spot out front, too.
Weaknesses: We had some long waiting times before our appointments.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Craig Witz at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
First round (2019) was about $18,000 total, including PGS (about $4750), surgery center and anesthesia ($1400 + $250) and doctor fees ($6,300), medications, outside labs and monitoring through a local clinic were outside this clinic's control. Second round prices went up a little, but it was similar. Maybe about $19,000.

As such, HFI is very experienced. If you are looking for a personal touch, go elsewhere. However, if you need the ability to draw on decades of expertise, this is best place in town. When you're face to face with Dr. Witz he's awesome. Probably one of the best physicians I've ever encountered. However, the Houston Fertility Institute is a bit of a mill.
Describe the protocols Craig Witz used in your cycles at Houston Fertility Center (Jinxin Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have no Fallopian tubes, so IVF was my only option. We jumped right into the cycle, but I had fibroids which could impede the process. I needed those removed. Along with a hysteroscopy. Then, started my meds for the egg retrieval. After egg retrieval, I was stopped from embryo implantation because of COVID-19
Describe your experience with your nurse at Houston Fertility Center (Jinxin Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Juli Thornton)
My only complaint about my nurse would be availability. Getting her on the phone was difficult at best. I would leave voicemail messages, send a message through the patient portal, leave messages with other nurses. And these were at times where my care was urgent. When I did get her on the phone or we were face-to-face, she was amazing. Great bedside manner. Explained things fully. Super sweet. I think that place is just a mill and keeps the nurses overloaded. It's like the nurses are nurses AND secretaries.

IVF is covered by my insurance 100% after my yearly deductible. I meet my deductible in January typically, so the out-of-pocket costs were just the co-pays for my prescriptions & the embryo storage fee.

This clinic sees loads of patients. So, it's easy for appointments to get missed or a prescription not called in. The nurses clearly need support staff.
Knew details of my case, explained what he thought would work for us. ... Very straightforward with plan of action. Explained reasons for what he thought was best treatment. Thoroughly answered any questions we had. Monitored follicles closely and increased dosage when I was initially slow to respond. ... When we met with dr witz after our failed fresh embryo transfer he recommended frozen embryo transfer as our next step.
Very busy but very efficient. They [Houston Fertility Institute] knew I liked to get in first thing to get to work and did their best to accommodate that. Only clinic open on weekends both Saturday and Sunday. Patient portal could use an upgrade. ... Then the financial advisor emailed me saying he recommended another egg retrieval as our next step. That was frustrating to get conflicting information.

Was participating in a study so I had to do downregulation per study protocol. Then started with lupron and then menopur started with one vial when I was slow to respond upped to 3 then upped to max of 6 vials nightly. Study only produced two embryos, both transfers failed. Next did self-pay cycle with menopur, gonal f and cetrotide. Got 6 embryos, genetically tested, 2 came back normal, 1 indeterminate.

He [Dr. Witz] is open & available- often calling me on off hours & using his cell phone. We had a tough road and he never oversold with lofty expectations. He knows the research & was able to present us with facts and honest medical advice for us to make the most informed decision we could....We did a low dose protocol with omnitrope. I overly respond to stimulation but my eggs are not strong so we went with low dose and omnitrope to attempt to boost the egg strength.
Great clinic [Houston Fertility Institute]- clean, free parking, easy to get to. Busy! If you make an appointment at peak times you might be waiting for awhile- seems like they overbook Patient’s. Top notch phlebotomists! These ladies are amazing!! Know your name, ask how you’re doing, never leave you sore or bruised.... My nurse did not call in a specific injection I needed and I had to catch it as I was going through the list with the pharmacy over the phone.

Dr. Witz has only ever done single embryo transfers with rationale of it being a better environment for the fetus and better for the mom’s overall health.

Our primary nurse was a bit low key with our fertility treatments following having our first through IVF. I’m not sure if it’s because we’ve been there for a long time now but she will sometimes just assume I know things. I have to sometimes call to make sure I’m taking the right dose or that I get the right meds before I need them, etc.

My nurse did not call in a specific injection I needed and I had to catch it as I was going through the list with the pharmacy over the phone. I was able to get it called in and in the same delivery as the previous meds but would not have known had I not specifically gone over the med list with the pharmacist.
The thing both my spouse and I liked about Dr. Witz was that he asked a lot of questions and we really felt he knew us. He was there for every visit and any procedure we needed to do. He explained things and when I didn't quite understand took the time to explain it a bit differently. We always felt that he took the time needed in order to get our questions answered.
One thing I really loved about the clinic [Hou Fert Inst] in general was that they knew our insurance wasn't going to cover IVF however, any other procedures we had to have done they always made sure it was done somewhere our insurance would cover...The only nurse we interacted with was Morgan and she was phenomenal! She was extremely positive throughout the entire process, always made sure to ask if there were any other questions and was very patient.

Always be ready with your questions. Knowing that we had to pay full price (our insurance didn't cover our IVF) we did our research and had a list of questions for every visit which helped it go faster. He also has a good sense of humor; so, if you want someone more serious; he is not however, that was our favorite thing about him!

Both the office and Dr. Witz were very patient with us. They were never pushy on any of the treatment, educated us on the options we had and left it up to us to make the choices. Receiving a positive pregnancy test was extremely exciting and both Dr. Witz and our Nurse Meghan celebrated with us and when we found out we were going to miscarry; they gave us time in the room and even though it's been 2 years; have never rushed us for our 2nd transfer.

After testing in 2015; we found out we would only be able to conceive via IVF and started on meds right away once we were ready. We started with Follistim 150 units, Dial pen to 150 & Menopur 150 IU, Take 2 vials as directed for 3 days then went back for bloodwork. After every blood draw; they would adjust my medication. After that I took, Follistim 225 units, Dial pen to 225 and Menopur 150 IU, Take 2 vials as directed. Then Cetrotide 0.25 mg was added. We had the egg retrieval and did a fresh transfer soon after that where I was prescribed o Estrace 2 mg, Take one by mouth to dissolve under your tongue THREE times per day; Prometrium 200mg mg/dl, oral 3x/day, Endometrin 100 mg/dl, Pleace two vaginally with applicator twice daily, Progesterone in Sesame Oil 50 mg/ml, give 50mg (1cc) IM each day (check to see if mixture is 100mg/1cc or 50mg/1cc) and was also adjusted as needed depending on my bloodwork. Once they did the BETA test and it was positive meds were adjusted depending on my blookwork as well. On our 6 week visit; was when the baby's heartbeat completely slowed down and BETA levels started to stall which was when we had a conversation with Dr. Witz and said we were going to just stop all of the meds and gave us the option to have a DND or have it happen naturally. I went with naturally which happened 2 weeks later.

Describe Craig Witz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
I have none as we were on the same page with transferring 2.
Due to a low hormone/egg reserve, and hyseroscopy, the best route was to pursue IVF [with Dr. Craig Witz]. I feel that the treatment was pretty routine, but the dosages adjusted to fit me personally. We did genetic testing so that we knew what the best embryo option was for us. Things proceeded as normal through the transfer process. We did have success becoming pregnant. However, at week 5, I experienced bleeding. I was fortunate to see Dr. Witz that day, and my hormones were adjusted immediately. I was seen weekly at that point. Unfortunately around week 7-ish, we experienced loss of the pregnancy.
I feel that the clinic [Houston Fertility Institute-Webster] is a welcoming and friendly place. I also feel that they are super efficient in seeing patients timely. I also feel that sometimes the efficientness can be perceived as a weakness, not allowing time to for the patient to ask all questions to feel 100% comfortable. However, anytime I needed any extra attention, I do feel that I was given the time needed.... We did receive a military discount, from my husband's time in the army, so that helped a little. With meds, proceedures, genetic testing, storing of embryos for a year, and everything else, we were close to $23,000, for one cycle, one transfer.

Dr. Witz is very knowledgeable, with a fantastic bed side manor. He gives accurate information with compassion for the patients feelings and needs. Visits with Dr. Witz were always pleasant. I enjoyed the nursing staff at the clinic. The phlebotomist was wonderful! Almost never hurt when drawing blood. She is also super compassionate and friendly! Dr. Witz gave us all the statistics and success rates of single transfer versus transferring two embryos. That information along with genetic testing led us to elect to transfer one embryo.
Dr.Witz is very straight forward, laid back, and has an excellent bedside manner. He is honest and doesn’t sugar coat anything. He is a great doctor, and had a very warm friendly personality. He answers your questions and does not waste your time allowing you to worry about irrelevant factors. He is highly experienced and very confident in his course of treatment for you... He can sometimes be very booked and will breeze through the appointment- if you write your questions down than you can have them answered even if he seems to be rushing.
During last cycle my nurse [from Houson Fertility Institute] did not make it clear when I should stop taking certain colored pills from my birth control pack. I continued taking them for about five days too long and it overlapped with my progesterone and estradiol. This delayed my cycle about two weeks because I had to reset and stop taking birth control...All the nurses are helpful and make you feel comfortable especially during vagina ultrasounds. Great clinic.

Dr Witz uses Labetalol to help me manage my blood pressure and keep it stable for transfer. He does not promote supplements at all, just healthy diet.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Cecelia)
Cecelia is very sweet and easy to talk to. She got a few my protocol dates and medication dosages wrong during my last cycle which delayed everything a few weeks. She also referred to my frozen embryos as “fair” grade and questioned why I didn’t get pregnant at my last cycle because of not having my embryos tested. She is overall a good nurse, just doesn’t communicate well at times. It is not at all that she doesn’t care- maybe she just gets busy with a large patient number.
Describe your experience with Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
Clinic is beautiful, clean, modern, and very relaxing/inviting. They do not over book appointments so there’s never more than just a few people in the waiting room. All staff members are very sweet. The staff in the busin as office have gone above and beyond to help us with financial concerns and paperwork. All the nurses are helpful and make you feel comfortable especially during vagina ultrasounds. Great clinic.

During last cycle my nurse did not make it clear when I should stop taking certain colored pills from my birth control pack. I continued taking them for about five days too long and it overlapped with my progesterone and estradiol. This delayed my cycle about two weeks because I had to reset and stop taking birth control.
We did the agonist protocol [with Dr. Craig Witz] different from my first failed ivf. It produced less eggs than my first but I got 2 eggs and one fertilized. A few days before retrieval he let me know there was only one maybe two eggs for retrieval. He gave me the choice of canceling retrieval or proceeding. As you can imagine that is heartbreaking and a difficult decision. He basically put it in perspective and made my choice very clear. It resulted in my baby girl.
My one complaint [with Houston Fertility Institute] would be with the lab. When they called me initially about fertilization results, they told me neither of my two eggs fertilized (those were all I had). Ten minutes later they called and told me it was a mistake and that ONE had fertilized. I was crazy, mad, and happy at the same time. Im greatful that they called me and told me their mistake but in those ten minutes my life fell apart. It's a serious mistake to make.

Dr. Witz was very honest and to the point. He was very thorough and nice. He definitely knows what he is doing! I think he made what seemed impossible possible! When we had a set back he made the correct call and had great judgement.

I liked being assigned one nurse. It makes everything more personal. The only weakness I would say is in the ultrasounds. I think either the doctor or and ultrasound tech should perform the ultrasounds for accuracy.

Dr. Witz seems like a great doctor. When I met with him, I felt like he answered all of my questions candidly. However, I rarely saw him. I would see him for a meeting before I started a round of IUI. He never performed any of my IUI procedures, as he has colleagues that take different shifts....Dr. Witz prescribed a small dosage of clomid followed by IUI. One of his colleagues questioned my treatment strategy when he performed an initial exam as I started a cycle however, he went with the orders left by Dr. Witz. It made me concerned that perhaps there were newer ideas that may work better.
The nursing staff [at Houston Fertility Institute]seemed to have a high turn-over ratio. The only constant staff were the women who took the blood...Every visit was to a jammed pack waiting room full of women trying to have babies, women pregnant, and women with small children. I rarely saw the same nurse twice. I only saw the doctor at the beginning of each cycle. Rarely did I ever get in & out near my appointment time....$1500 per medicated IUI cycle plus drugs.

Infertility is a vicious cycle. Be prepared to see lots of women crying. Every appointment was full of women crying because they lost a baby, because they got pregnant, or because they found out they weren't pregnant. Dr. Witz was never there when I got my pregnancy test results.

HFI is a well respected clinic. I wish there was a separate waiting area for women receiving fertility treatment from the women who are already pregnant or who were having to have D&Cs. I was always stressed out seeing all of the different emotions. I also wish there was a way to get in at your appointment time. Most appointments took less than 10 minutes, but it could take an hour or more to get into a treatment room. Saturdays & the days after holidays were the worst.

On one IUI cycle I was told to take two vaginal hormonal inserts a day. On another IUI cycle I was told to only take one. When I questioned it, I was told that two was entirely too much I must have misunderstood the instructions from the first cycle. I will always wonder if the extra hormones caused me not to conceive.
On our first round of IVF [with Dr. Craig Witz], we had a lot of eggs retrieved (~12 embryos) but then very low quality. Most eggs stopped growing after day 3. Only one egg passed genetic testing and it was a 7 day egg. Now we know most clinics would not have transferred this egg due to low quality. Instead, Dr. Witz encouraged us to do so. When this was unsuccessful, he told us on the next attempt, we could add growth hormone to improve egg quality. Once the next procedure protocol was established, Dr. Witz did not prescribe growth hormone. When we discussed this with him, he told us due to FDA scrutiny, fertility clinics were no longer using growth hormone and we'd have to go to Europe to get it. So we proceeded with a 2nd round of egg retrieval without it. Again, we had a large number of eggs / embryos, but they did not make it past day 3. We were left with only one 7 day embryo that passed genetic testing. Again, Dr. Witz encouraged us to transfer this egg. So we went through the time/stress/expense to transfer it with yet again a bad result. We have since learned that most other fertility clinics across the U.S. still use growth hormone. We used it on our next egg retrieval round in Colorado and had excellent results (6 very high quality embryos resulting in one live birth - our daughter). I believe HFI is now using growth hormone again. During procedures, Dr. Witz seemed more interested in the music we wanted played than explaining the procedure itself. He may have been trying to get us to relax but it felt strange.
The clinic [Houston Fertility Institute] was extremely busy and did a poor job of communicating the process to me or displaying that they cared about what we were going through. In particular, I think they do a poor job of communicating with out of town patient. Maybe an in town patient experience would be better. I frequently could not get through to the nurse to ask questions in a timely manner.

If you are older or have egg quality issues, ask him to use growth hormone during the first attempt. If you have a 7 day egg that passes genetic testing (or a low quality egg), don't bother to transfer it. Freeze it and go for another retrieval.

Describe the protocols Craig Witz used in your cycles at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Our protocol felt very cookie cutter. He didn't make adjustments during the process based on how fast our eggs were growing or that were specific to our issue - poor egg quality.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
We were initially assigned a relatively new nurse who was horrible - she was not compassionate and over-worked. She also didn't have answers to our basic questions but always stated that the doctor wasn't available to answer them. The 2nd nurse was someone who had been at the clinic a long time and was much more understanding and knowledgable. Although you could tell she was also overworked and had limited time.

It was a nice clinic but the staff seemed overworked.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Craig Witz at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
The first round of IVF was between $15 and $20k, I can't remember exactly. If you get genetic testing (PGS), I think it was $5k and that covered 10 eggs. If your first round doesn't work, you get a discount on the 2nd round, so I think that was more about $10k to $12k.
Describe Craig Witz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
We knew for certain we only wanted to transfer one embryo (and we never had more than one at HFI) so this wasn't discussed.
What specific things went wrong at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic)?
Dr.Witz had a dry sense of humor that matched ours and he consistently tried to set attainable goals. There are no guarantees in infertility but he definitely tries to help to build your family.... Dr. Witz was repeatedly kind but frank when I needed it. My Husband and I both say that we would not have survived the process (clomid, IUI 3x and IVF 2x then a FET 1) had we not had Dr. Witz. It’s easy to feel like a petry dish but he helped us stay human and helped us look for the humor in the awful.
The clinic [Houston Fertility Institute] does need help with scheduling but every doctor office I have ever visited is always running behind.... Nurses can make or break a clinic. The nurses I dealt with, Carolina and Maria were the best. They knew who I was, what I was going through that day and were my champions throughout the process.... Our IVF rounds cost between $12-17k, IUI $2 , FET $7k...

I’m a Latina and when you receive the blow that infertility is a battle you’re going through it can be crippling bc our culture is so deep rooted in family that you think you’re broken. We started our path with a round of clomid followed by 3 rounds of IUI. Dr. Witz was very confident that IUI would do the trick due to my PCOS past, but wanted to give it a shot as it was less invasive and definitely more cost affordable. We weren’t successful but both Dr. Witz and I wanted to at least try. We took some time to save up and moved forward with IVF. It was fairly normal round though I ended up hyperstemming after the egg retrieval and had a 5 day stay in the hospital. Dr. Witz came every evening to check on me though it was in the complete opposite direction of his home. We delayed the transfer bc he wanted me to recover emotionally and physically. We transferred a month later and had a successful positive pregnancy. Dr. Witz kept me in his care until I was 14 weeks along. I se him once a week through those 14 weeks, and twice a week I had blood work. We exhausted all our avenues with Cycle 1 and when we decided to try for a sibling we knew it would be Dr. Witz that we’d be calling. Our second IVF round was not as complicated and we had better success. No hyper stimulation, though we did start progesterone earlier and carried it through longer I think. With our successful retrieval with tried a frozen embroy transfer but we didn’t get a positive result. It was a tough blow. Dr. Witz met with us afterwards and laid out the cards for us. He was blunt but also kind. It’s a fine line to walk when there are so many emotions running.

He [Dr. Craig Witz] will give you the real facts, which might be hard to hear. But he is very honest...When I call, he talks to me directly. He has not given up on me, but he also is real with facts. He has a great bedside manner and is also very real with you...He talks to us anytime we ask. He uses my name when talking to me, and he also doesn't give us false hope. He is always optimistic with each step. He is very through and up on the latest treatment options. He is also very accommodating, as I live in a different state from the treatment clinic.
Strengths [at Houston Fertility Institute]: Lots of locations, some discounts, Bundling options. Always able to talk to someone and get an appointment. Weaknesses: Expensive! But all fertility treatments are. No monthly payment plans. Everything is due up front...Some nurses had no idea about my treatment. I had to tell them what I was doing. In the office some were not compassionate. They were good by email communication most of the time

Dr. Witz is very knowledgable in infertility and the plan of action needed to achieve success. He did elaborate diagnostic testing and HSG and a hysteroscopy to rule out any issues that may be causing my miscarriages. He recommended IVF with chromosomal (PGS) testing for an accurate pregnancy. He felt confident we would get pregnant on our own again, but if we chose to, we could do IVF. We actually chose to speed up the process and try IUI. It was successful and I am now pregnant!
IUI with meds [at Houston Fertility Insitute] was close to $3500...Waiting room at piney Point seems a bit small. I mostly felt like a human, but the conversations [with Dr. Craig Witz] felt rushed and not very thorough...He did lots of tests and I never got any answers as to why I wasn't conceiving. The office atmosphere is really nice. Just know that this clinic is not cheap, and they do not work with you on payment plans. They expect payment in full at the time of services, which is unreasonable and impossible for many people.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Craig Witz at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
My insurance covered all of the testing up to the diagnosis of infertility. After that the prices were very high, even for taking Clomid because they require you to have ultrasounds etc and pay upfront($800).
I felt like I was being forced into IVF vs. being able to discuss all options, even when they didn't have my records or test results back yet. It came off as either do IVF, or never have a child. Which, if my test results indicated that, it would be one thing. But it felt very rushed and like there was no interest in what was actually going on with me.
We were looking to move to Dr. Witz [of Houston Fertility Institute], unfortunately I felt like just a number in their system looking for a quick result. They didn't even have all of my medical records from my previous clinic before make extreme suggestions on next steps. It felt like instead of being interested in me as a patient, they were interested in me as a number or $$.

The [Aspire Houston Fertility Institute] clinic was very organized and thorough. They were always helpful with all questions and worked to accommodate my times I needed with work. They were very busy but I still didn’t feel like I wasn’t being seen in a timely manner. I felt like a human and I trusted them...No matter what time of day they would reply and help me.

He [Dr. Witz] is probably my favorite doctor I've ever had. Very honest, and explained things in great detail. Took the time to call and check on me often, always got me in for an appointment to check on things if I felt the slightest bit of doubt.... One IVF cycle that resulted in hyperstimulation due to pcos, and a freeze all cycle. Frozen transfer the next month that resulted in a twin pregnancy.... When I hylwrsrimulated due to PCOS he was genuinely concerned. Called to check on me even after hours.
I visited the Katy office [Houston Fertility Institute] while Dr. Wits was there which was a much better fit for us. The Piney location wait times could get a little long sometimes because of the amount of patients treated at that location which is also their surgery center.... Wonderful staff! Called immediately with all results... [Cost Of Treatment] Approx 15k total... [Dr. Witz] Called to check on me even after hours.... He is probably my favorite doctor I've ever had.

Describe Craig Witz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
Counseled us on the risks of implanting two (which was our preference) advised not to transfer more then that
Dr. Witz is extremely kind, intelligent and informative. He wants you to feel comfortable in this tough process. He has great bedside manners and knows how to deliver facts in a gentle, to-the-point manner...My [doctor] recommends eSET but does allow multiple transfer if you wish. This also depends on your age and pgs testing, etc.
The [Houston Fertility Center] nurses were very organized which I found very important. They're also easy to get a hold of. If you leave a vm they'll get to that same day...IVF- $13,000 MEDICATION- $5,000-7,000 PGS TEST- $5,000...There's also extremely low turnover which is a huge plus. I'd shop around for pricing. HFI generally costs the average rate as other clinics but I do see they're a bit pricier on certain procedures. Also they always perform hysteroscopies before a transfer, no matter what, so that can add up.
How was your experience with Craig Witz at Houston Fertility Center (Jinxin Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Witz is extremely caring. I switched doctors in the process because I felt my last doctor made me feel like a number and didn't have open communication. Dr. Witz on the other hand, answers your every question and takes his work very seriously. He walks you through every step of the process and tries to be there at appointments, unless he's in clinic.

My first doctor had prescribed a drug for my UTI that was graded C. I had just had a transfer and was 5 weeks pregnant. I spoke with the pharmacist and she recommended I not take this drug. I had to call the clinic for a different drug.
Dr Witz is a busy man but that is because he is on high demand. There were a few times I wished he was more available to talk to me. But he was always available when it was critical. He does a good job explaining everything and answering questions. He keeps things light which is refreshing because it’s all so emotional. My husband liked him a lot. He jokes and is easy going, but he also gets down to business and is straight up with you.
We did a standard protocol [at Houston Fertility Institute] but I over stimulated and couldn’t do a fresh transfer. I was devastated but it all worked out because I got pregnant on the first FET...Love those nurses so much!!...Because of my small uterus we could only transfer one. How was your experience with Craig Witz at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic)?
So I have recommended him to several friends and what I will say is that he knows what he is doing. He has been doing this for a long time and is brilliant. I have a very tricky case of PCOS combined with only one tube and a small uterus that can have blood flow issues. But he got my pregnant twice so I have no complains. He told me IVF was my best chance of pregnancy but I wanted to try IUI first and he was good with that. He tells you the facts and let’s you make a decision. Several times I was on the fence about what to do and he would give me his opinion and they weren’t money making decisions. He talked us out of doing PGS twice (but didn’t push his opinion). I had a son in 2016 and now a daughter thanks to Witz! He’s the best!

Write down all your questions and bring a friend. He talks fast and a second person can help you remember all the things he shares with you.

Dr. Witz was very caring at our visit. He explained out chances and made me few like actually having a family one day was possible. My husband is all about numbers but Dr. Witz made him realize that it isn’t always about the numbers. He was very kind and validated my emotions....He explained everything in detail. He really understood how my husband and I were feeling.
So far we have been very satisfied with both the Dr. and the nursing staff [at Houston Fertility Center]. The clinic is also very nice. We chose piney point as our office since they are the HFI lab and my services would all be at that location...treatment would be around 13,500 plus medication

We have not started treatment with Dr. Witz yet because of money. Ivf is very expensive and our insurance does not cover anything. He did explain in detail the cost breakdown and protocol with us. We are going to use a frozen transfer when the time comes.

He [Dr. Craig Witz] can be sarcastic and is funny. It helps lightens the mood...really cares about his patients... was very thorough in explaining treatments and what the best options were for us. I saw him at almost every appointment and he was always optimistic even when I was feeling negative. I have recommended him to multiple people since I went through this process.
The nurses [at Houston Fertility Institute] are absolutely amazing! I would email them multiple times a day when I had questions and they always replied swiftly and always had a thorough answer for me. Everytime I was in there that had a smile on their face and always seemed happy to be there...We paid out of pocket and it was about $14,000 for our IVF process not including medicine...I had a great experience there. The only thing that was negative was I wish they had a clinic a little closer to me to do the egg retrieval and transfer. I had to drive almost an hour and a half to get there. That is the only negative thing I can say about this clinic
