I had a DNC prior to my first transfer [with Dr. Rychlik] as a clean out. Also had an ERA when the 3rd transfer failed...He gave a bunch of metaphors and analogies as though it was scripted. He didn't really want to investigate why I had infertility but instead provided theoretical reasons and that the answer regardless was still IVF. He told me my chances of a successful pregnancy was 85% but we had zero success with Rychlik...he seems to not think outside the box and wants every patient to fit his protocol. I don't feel he looks at each patient as an individual person. He was always very polite and kind but he doesn't do well responding to failure or patient concerns.
The clinic [Southern California Reproductive Center] is quick to get you seen and start your protocol. But they had a lot of change while I was there. Both in nursing staff and doctor rescheduling my calendar. Over promise and under deliver in my opinion. Very clean and beautiful state of the art facility. Fairly expensive for IVF, and yet after 4 failed transfers and lots of money spent still charged for my copy of records...Mainly it was poor communication when changes needed to happen. Early on the Dr. was out of town so they had to move my calendar around after I had already scheduled all my appointments and rearranged my work schedule. Then my nurse failed to call me for my transfer time the next day. My nurse also set me up for all my appointments in the main clinic instead of my local clinic.
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Rychlik has what seems like the experience and accreditation as an endocrinologist, but he seems to not think outside the box and wants every patient to fit his protocol. I don't feel he looks at each patient as an individual person. He was always very polite and kind but he doesn't do well responding to failure or patient concerns. There was no talk about what to do next after 4 failed transfers, it was almost as though he didn't want me as a patient anymore. Maybe it's because I would bring his success rates down? Not sure. He took no responsibility for my failures, so while even though he didn't know what was wrong with me there must be a problem and it couldn't be his protocol. The most frustrating thing was that early on in our first consult I told him is it possible that it is my uterus? He said no way that is just not likely and talked about a study of women who received uterine transplants from post menopause women and they conceived fine. In the end when we had our final failure he basically told me that he thought it was my uterus. He gave me this answer without any testing or diagnostics. Overall Rychlik is a decent man but I can't say we developed rapport so I decided to go elsewhere for a yet another opinion.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Push him to give you answers as to exactly what protocol he uses for stimulation and why. Also ask him exactly what he thinks is your infertility diagnosis and if the first transfer fails what next? See if he can provide real data to his success rates and where that proof is on the CDC website.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
He gave a bunch of metaphors and analogies as though it was scripted. He didn't really want to investigate why I had infertility but instead provided theoretical reasons and that the answer regardless was still IVF. He told me my chances of a successful pregnancy was 85% but we had zero success with Rychlik; also his CDC postings are not near that claim. I miscarried on my first transfer and was devastated, he was oddly optimistic telling me that bleeding could be totally normal, well I told him I was bleeding a lot and cramping. I felt he gave me a false hope and he should have known things were not looking good and been upfront with me. On my last transfer which was a chemical pregnancy he asked me if I had ever miscarried before in another transfer, he didn't even review my chart before giving me the bad news. On that final call he provided no hope, no explanation, and recommended surrogacy. He said he would change nothing in his protocol or wouldn't investigate anything further. I felt like I was going through this totally alone and I had no ally.
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
Stimulation was with Gonal F and lupron. Transfers were with progesterone and estrogen in form of IM, oral and suppositories. I had a DNC prior to my first transfer as a clean out. Also had an ERA when the 3rd transfer failed.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Rae)
Failed to provide my schedile, failed to give me my transfer time, failed to schedule me locally rather than at the main clinic, failed to tell me she would be my new nurse, failed to tell me how to reach her when she changed emails to a team email, and had a late response on communication. I eventually requested a new nurse. The rest of the nursing staff was fine. The US nurse is a sweetheart and the front desk girl is always a great communicator.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
The clinic is quick to get you seen and start your protocol. But they had a lot of change while I was there. Both in nursing staff and doctor rescheduling my calendar. Over promise and under deliver in my opinion. Very clean and beautiful state of the art facility. Fairly expensive for IVF, and yet after 4 failed transfers and lots of money spent still charged for my copy of records. If I were to go back to this clinic I would consider seeing Dr. Surrey instead.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Had my monitoring don't by a local center.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center.
For the first round all in, including the guest transfer was about 25,000. Each transfer after was about 5,000. ERA was about 1,500.
Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Doctor prefers single transfers.

Dr. Dan is extremely truthful and candid. As a scientist myself I appreciated that he was honest about the odds...He was always available via phone call and when scary moments happened he was a calming voice. Mostly I appreciated his explanations. I wanted to know the ins and outs of the fertility journey and he set me up for success by giving me data...preferred elective single embryo transfer and we trusted the process
[Empower Fertility] Strength: friendly, kind, honest, data-driven, great nurses, and helpful doctor Weakness: some frequent change overs in nursing staff (however, everyone that worked their was knowledgeable and friendly)...We are incredibly thankful for our journey with the Empower team! At 43, my new husband and I decided to try for a baby, after 20 years of me being infertile...The team at Empower was so supportive and knowledgeable.
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
Dr. Dan is extremely truthful and candid. As a scientist myself I appreciated that he was honest about the odds. We chose to do six rounds because I was only getting about 2-5 embryos per round. Because of my age once they were tested they were not genetically normal. My husband and I were happy to commit a year to egg retrieval and Dr. Dan made that possible for us. He was always available via phone call and when scary moments happened he was a calming voice. Mostly I appreciated his explanations. I wanted to know the ins and outs of the fertility journey and he set me up for success by giving me data.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
Be ready to be positive. Think about this journey as if your body can do it. Then be honest about the odds and put the time and energy into the process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
We are incredibly thankful for our journey with the Empower team! At 43, my new husband and I decided to try for a baby, after 20 years of me being infertile. Dr. Dan and his team were honest and gave us the odds if everything went right in my age category. We committed to six rounds of IVF and thanks to genetic testing identified a healthy girl embryo. After our implantation in August we were ecstatic to find out we were pregnant. The team at Empower was so supportive and knowledgeable. I always felt their honesty and compassion and anytime I had a question they answered quickly and with tons of detail. We can't believe our baby will be here in May!
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Empower Fertility and their degree of success.
The genetic testing was extremely helpful for us in my age category. I felt less scared about having a baby at 44.

Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Empower Fertility.
Dr. Dan preferred elective single embryo transfer and we trusted the process.

Dr. Rychlik is very open and truthful about the entire process. While sometimes we don’t get the news we want he manages to keep it real and provide you with all the knowledge needed to make informed decisions! His overall goal was for me to become a mother! I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby boy...He is not there to coddle you and tell you what you want to hear! He is there to assess and give you true and accurate information in hopes of being able to conceive!
The [Empower Fertility] clinic is clean and run very well! I never had to wait more than 10 minutes for my appointment! They use the best equipment! The office is quiet and they maintain privacy for every visit...Every team mate from the front desk to the back office truly cared about a successful pregnancy...Every part of my cycle was completely planned out and specific to the care I needed! My first visit I was so nervous, overwhelmed and left in tears! However, they quickly became family and all of those emotions were resolved! Every team mate from the front desk to the back office truly cared about a successful pregnancy!

We used oral, vaginal, and injection medications! All dosages were carefully manned out! I loved that everything was provided to me on a calendar so I knew exactly what to expect! During cycles labs were drawn and if changes were needed they were updated and changed on my calendar!

Overall my favorite part of making a 2 1/2 hour drive weekly, during my cycle, was to see the ultra sound technician, Olesya!!!! She is amazing!!! She used to practice as a pediatrician in the Ukraine! Her knowledge and overall compassion were very comforting! Every ultrasound she shared just as much joy about the baby as I did! She explained every image and detail during the ultrasound! I left feeling so comfortable! I will NEVER forget her!!!!

Dr. Dan [Rychlik] required PGT testing in his packages and would only transfer 1 embryo...When he spoke, he used a lot of analogies and just rushed through everything. He also never remembered my diagnosis for infertility and I felt like that was neglected in my treatment protocol...low stim protocol for both of my cycles...The second round was the same protocol but did an Ovidrel trigger. We did retrieve 15 eggs but my 1 blast was abnormal and not suitable for transfer...
The nursing staff [at Oma Fertility] was extremely busy...It was very busy all the time, so sometimes you had to wait outside and sometimes your appointment would be a little behind. They work to get you in quickly, but sometimes it felt chaotic. My husband didn’t like that he just had to provide his collection at ER in a bathroom surrounded by chaos...My low stim IVF package was $7500 plus $4700 for medication...
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed)?
Dr. Dan’s strengths are being able to use analogies to explain some medical things. Personally, I did not appreciate that. It felt as though he spoke in circles. I only spoke with him 3 total times and I never trusted he had a complete understanding of me and my case. He wasn’t willing to change his standard protocol and just wanted to repeat cycles, each cycle costing more money. He seemed like an intelligent doctor who was interested in my case at my consult, but failed to prove that through my care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed)?
Ask a lot of questions and speak up if you don’t feel something is correct.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed)?
Through 2 stimulation cycles and egg retrievals I only spoke with the Doctor 3 times. Everything was extremely rushed and it was difficult to get any detailed information about my results. The clinic was nice but extremely busy. Dr. Dan admitted to messing up the timing of my first ER but I still had to pay full price to go through another cycle. During that next cycle, we got the timing correct to actually retrieve eggs but once I got the embryology report, I had to set up an appointment several days later to speak with the Doctor. He basically just said better luck next time. When he spoke, he used a lot of analogies and just rushed through everything. He also never remembered my diagnosis for infertility and I felt like that was neglected in my treatment protocol.
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed) and their degree of success.
I was on the low stim protocol for both of my cycles. I did 14 days of Menopur, Gonal-F, and added in the Fyremadel toward the end. I used a Lupron trigger for my first ER that I didn’t respond to, but he still went through with the retrieval resulting in 1 immature egg. The second round was the same protocol but did an Ovidrel trigger. We did retrieve 15 eggs but my 1 blast was abnormal and not suitable for transfer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).
The nursing staff was extremely busy. Amber seemed to be my point person my 2nd retrieval and she was kind and helpful when she could be. But I didn’t see here every time. The ultrasound tech was also kind.
Describe your experience with Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).
This clinic was small but very clean and easy to get to. It was very busy all the time, so sometimes you had to wait outside and sometimes your appointment would be a little behind. They work to get you in quickly, but sometimes it felt chaotic. My husband didn’t like that he just had to provide his collection at ER in a bathroom surrounded by chaos.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).
They would get too busy and started having to do monitoring in the afternoons, which was inconvenient and didn’t match what they had in their protocol.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).
My low stim IVF package was $7500 plus $4700 for medication. I would have paid more to have personalized care.
Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).

I didn't see Dr. Rychlik for the majority of the appointments, and when I did it was basically him googling things to show us on the computer...Aside from the M.D. on his business card, it wasn't very clear to me how good / not good he is at his job. I barely saw him, which is fine if I didn't need to see him, but I felt like if I had questions about next steps they had to go through the clinic which can always mean things get lost in translation.
There was no communication, prescription orders were not made in time for my first IUI cycle, she [nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center] called in sick for 2 out of 2 of the appointments during my first cycle, and she never called / emailed / talked to me in person to apologize...approximately $1,200 per IUI cycle...They [coordinators] are both great and super helpful, kind, and caring. They also are a one stop shop, with storage, ultrasounds, and procedures (IUI at least) all done in house. Weaknesses are definitely COMMUNICATION (never got appointment confirmations unless I asked, if they can't answer the phone you get the LA office answering service, people don't call you back).

I'm honestly not sure if he properly read my charts and tests. At first he thought my tests would be "lower" but when he got the results and read them to me on the phone he said everything was "good", but I didn't really know what that meant. There wasn't really a strategy, at least not one that was explained to me or my wife.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Betty)
My initial nurse was absolutely awful to me. There was no communication, prescription orders were not made in time for my first IUI cycle, she called in sick for 2 out of 2 of the appointments during my first cycle, and she never called / emailed / talked to me in person to apologize. When I finally did get ahold of her, she was cold, rude, and refused to acknowledge how I was treated. It was awful, stressful, and gave me a really terrible first impression of a process that is already difficult.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Rychlik treated me like a number. He told me on the first consultation that I would need IVF, and that he didn't want to try any other treatment. He did not order an HSG test for me, because he said he didn't even care. Dr. Rychlik was going to order, but had not even seen the results of my husband's semen analysis. The reason for this is that he said that my egg reserve was low. He told me this just on the basis of an ultrasound, no additional testing.
When I first set up my appointment, the nurses [SCRC] were friendly. At the appointment, they were very neutral, and had very little interaction. When I asked for my medical files, because I wanted to see someone else, they were hard to deal with. I was told I couldn't have my medical records until I saw the doctor again, the eventually changed their story when I said that I had a right to my own medical records. I was never able to get them, but my new doctor was able to do so.
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Rychlik made me feel like I was not intelligent, and that I was going to be emotional. After telling me on the first visit that I would need IVF, he said to me "you probably stopped listening already" and then he indicated the he would start directing the conversation to my husband. I was not crying and was paying complete attention. My husband is actually the type to have his mind start spinning, and stop paying attention. Dr. Rychlik was googling images to show me, he had nothing prepared as a presentation. He said multiple time, "that's not the picture I want. There's a graph I really like." He was not prepared. Dr. Rychlik gave me a treatment plan, IVF, after just one visit, without an HSG test, and without a semen analysis. After now seeing a different doctor and talking with a family friend who is an OBGYN, I know this is a crazy plan after just one visit.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Please do not see him.

We did not get to begin a cycle, because I was unsatisfied with his diagnosis after only an ultrasound. I did not trust him and I believe he just wanted my money.

A strength would be that it is in Ventura. That is the only strength I can think of. The office unusually warm in the waiting room, which made the visit all the more nerve wracking to start. I had a horrible experience with the doctor, and an acquaintance from when I was young had a similar experience with the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center.
I provided my insurance information before the appointment because they told me that they needed do talk to my insurance before the appointment. Then when I went then still didn't know if my insurance would cover the ultrasound. The Dr. called the nurse in to get me to approve the cost of the ultrasound in case my insurance wouldn't cover it. I did not end up paying because my insurance did cover it. I only went to that one appointment, so I had no other costs.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Southern California Reproductive Center.
It had to do with the paperwork. When I attempted get my own medical records, I was initially told that I had to go to another appointment in order to get my records. I was not about to see Dr. Rychlik again. The did get the medical records to my new doctor, but it was difficult. I had to go multiple times and the medical staff at my second fertility doctor had to get them for me.

He [Dr. Rychlik] was always very nice. Funny. Explained things when I needed. Kept me up to date on what was going on. I don't like to stress so a doctor with a sense of humor can definitely lighten the mood. I am also not the type of patient to ask a ton of questions as I put my trust in the doctor and know that this is their specialty and not mine.... I am under the impression that this protocol is for everyone and not just me.
The weaknesses [Southern CA Reproductive Ctr] would be the communication. I feel like the financial person could do a better job reviewing costs. I also think the staff can do a better job communicating what will happen next. I thin kthey might assume that everyone knows the drill. This is still very foreign to me.... She [nurse] was very helpful. She was my point of contact for most things. Very responsive and knowledgable.

I am also not the type of patient to ask a ton of questions as I put my trust in the doctor and know that this is their specialty and not mine. This is my second fertility clinic and I'm under the impression that none of them hold your hand through anything really because they have way too many patients. With that said If I needed something or had a question I would just email my nurse.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Be ready to laugh.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Because he actually knew what was going on, my chart, whetehr he looked at it right before he saw me or not I dont know. But Ive been to a doctor that had no clue what was going on or that i was even a patient.

This was a previous cycle but it was quickly resolved. there was a mishap where my husband had to come in to give another sperm sample because they didnt do something properly. That sticks out in my mind because my husband hates doing it so for him to come again was a pain.

Dr. Rychlik was very open and honest throughout our first cycle / transfer and ultimate miscarriage. As this was our first time with IVF, he did explain a lot of what was happening. There were periods were maybe things were painted a little too positive and expectations were set too high. Which in the moment I appreciated. We are now on our second cycle with Dr. Rychlik and more realistic about what could happen. He's onboard with our needs and requests to get it all straight. So I feel like we have a true partner here.
SCRC Santa Barbara is small, which I like - you feel like you have a personalized medical team. Given how big SCRC is in LA, I also felt like I was with the best of the best. I'm not sure how prices compare, but there aren't many other options in Santa Barbara so I didn't pursue comparisons too deeply...IVF with ICSI and Genetic Testing, including Dr Fees & Facility Fees was around 15k. Medication another 5k. FET was around 3k.

He makes times for all patients - even being the one to take my blood tests occasionally. So be sure to ask ANY and ALL questions you want. He will answer.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Southern California Reproductive Center?
The entire staff, especially the nurses, came to know me very well. If I was nervous, scared, etc. Dr. Rychlik knew to tell me jokes and make me laugh when asked. He broke down everything that was going on, from the positive pregnancy test to the ultimate miscarriage. After the DNC and leading up to it, he would call me personally to check in. I'm not back for my second FET and he / the team, is being even more candid and honest and open - as this isn't our first go-round!
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
We went with a very straightforward protocol - IVF/ICIS with genetic testing. As it was more male factor, we didn't go too aggressive for the retrieval and I responded really well to all the drugs - never feeling too poor. We ended up with 2 genetically tested embryos and transferred 1 Day 5. It resulted in a positive! Unfortunately, the baby stopped growing between 5 and 6 weeks. Even though it was genetically tested, apparently this can happen (I do wish I was more prepared). However, after some months off now, we are going back for our next FET.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Ashely May)
Ashely was/is exceptional. In fact, the entire nursing staff and coordinators are amazing. Everyone was responsive, open, honest. They took the time to answer any and all questions, never making me feel like I was annoying or stressed. Every visit was like hanging out with girlfriends who only had my best interests and my family's in mind. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Monitoring appointments were a breeze. I felt like I was the only patient, I never had a wait. I saw the same nurse and Ultrasound tech every time & sometimes even Dr. R himself! I actually really enjoyed these appointments. It was always happy and even if I was stressed or nervous, we still laughed and they helped calm me down. I booked them right before work and never had a delay. I'm happy to be back for this next transfer!

Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Both Doctor and Nurses seemed to think single was the way to go - so if something did happen we could review and adjust the plan of action for the next one. Subjectively, friends who have done IVF my age and with similar circumstances also advocated for single transfer.

Dr Rychlik always remained positive and optimistic about the outcome. I wish maybe I would've known going into it that one IVF cycle wouldn't work or that maybe donor eggs should've been discussed. Obviously there's no way of knowing until you go through it but I wasn't fully prepared for the disappointment of having no viable embryos.... We were always greeted warmly and never rushed. I felt like we were listened to and treated with empathy.
The nurses [at Southern California Reproductive Cetner] were really sweet and helpful but not always easy to get a hold of. I found that their preferred method of communication was email and sometimes that wasn't the best for me.... My appointments were very easy and I was never waiting on people or in a Cattlecall situation. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes every time.... This clinic is probably one of the highest rated clinics in our region. They have a state of the art laboratory and I know they have skilled staff and high standard of quality. There are many clinics locally that are far less expensive but I don't know if they are as good in regards to their laboratory

Ask all of the questions whether they're good or bad. Find out if the money you are spending is being put to good use and if maybe there are better options for you besides IVF.

How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
Dr. Rychlik is a doctor that truly cares about his patients and the outcomes. When my partner and I first met with him, after going through IVF with another doctor and having two failed attempts at having viable embryos to transfer, we left his office with newfound hope. We did not feel rushed and he took the time to really understand our past as it relates to fertility. I have gone through the egg retrieval process with success. We not only have one or two viable embryos, but three! He has always taken the time to explain things if I had questions and he didn't charge me for every phone call like my previous doctor. We are now entering into the next phase, which is the transfer, and I am confident in saying that he is the right doctor to go down this journey with.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
I would tell them that they are in good hands with Dr. Rychlik and his team because they want you to be successful just as much as you do.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
During the initial consultation with Dr. Rychlik, he took the time to talk to my partner and I and really try to understand our history. We felt like he genuinely cared and wanted to help us and we came up with a plan as to how best to proceed.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Empower Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Sarah Reed)
Sarah is amazing! She was very thorough on explaining each step and answered any questions that I had. She was part of the team that helped prep me before my egg retrieval and she made me feel very comfortable. After my retrieval, I was concerned about my excessive bloating (due to complications with my first retrieval with my previous doctor), so I sent an email after hours and she called me that night to check on me and have me come in the next day to make sure it wasn't anything serious. She went above and beyond which I really appreciated.
Describe your experience with Empower Fertility.
This clinic really works as a team and are all very supportive in this journey. The ultrasound nurse makes you feel very comfortable, she also explains what she is doing so their are no surprises and you can tell she just genuinely cares. The embryologists were also amazing. Before my egg retrieval, they came in and explained what their role in the process was and go over what happens over the next week. They updated me day 0,1, 3 and 5 with the status of each embryo, which is something I never got with my previous clinic. The whole team from the front desk receptionist to Dr. Rychlik is just amazing!

After we transfer to Dr. Rychlik, we moved through the process quick...explained the risk & expectations of using embryos not retrieved by him...embryo transfer into our Gestational Carrier...only recommended 1 embryo transfer, but did allow multiple embryo transfer
[Empower Fertility] office were so nice & so invested in our journey...care coordinator was very communicative and was just a call/text away...From the communication, compassion, and the connections we made at Empower, we felt like we everyone at the Empower cared so much about our journey. The only "con" is the parking.
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
We transfer clinic after being with our original clinic for 4 years (with no results). After we transfer to Dr. Rychlik, we moved through the process quick, and are currently expecting in a few weeks! He explained the risk & expectations of using embryos not retrieved by him. He explained everything in lay-man's terms, and we were able to ask even "dumb" questions, which he gave detail answers to. He was very knowledgeable about this field of medicine, and we felt very confident with him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
Follow his instructions & recommendations to a T. Ask any & all questions you have!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
The whole office were so nice & so invested in our journey! They love when we gave them updates of the baby (after we already "graduated" from the clinic). They honestly felt like family!
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Empower Fertility and their degree of success.
We didn't original do the egg retrieval with Dr. Rychlik, but did end up using him/his clinic for the embryo transfer into our Gestational Carrier. As intended parents, we really didn't do any medical protocol with Dr. Rychlik, as it was already done at our old clinic. Our GC did go through the med cycle (injectables, weekly monitoring, etc).
Describe your experience with your nurse at Empower Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Olga)
The whole team was wonderful! I actually missing seeing them every week while we were under Dr. Rychlik's care. The care coordinator was very communicative and was just a call/text away. They were all rooting for us, and were so excited when we were confirmed pregnant.
Describe your experience with Empower Fertility.
I honestly love this clinic. Coming from another local clinic, where we were with for 4 years - with no results, no communication, and a high employee turn-over rate.... to Empower- the comparison is like night & day. From the communication, compassion, and the connections we made at Empower, we felt like we everyone at the Empower cared so much about our journey. The only "con" is the parking. The parking lot is small, and they share the building with an MFM/ultrasound clinic, so parking is scarce during certain hour. If you have an afternoon appointment, you end up having to park a block or 2 away.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility.
Since we've already did the retrieval at a different clinic, we were only billed for the monitoring for our gestational carrier.
Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Empower Fertility.
Dr. Ryclik only recommended 1 embryo transfer, but did allow multiple embryo transfer. We only did 1 embryo transfer, as we only had 1 PGTa tested normal embryo. Even if we did have multiple PGTa tested normal embryos, we would have gone with Dr. Ryclik's recommendation of doing just 1 embryo transfer.

From the moment I met with [Dr. Daniel Rychlik] he was genuine, straightforward, and helpful...We believe in him and that’s why we have followed him from clinic to clinic...been working with Dr Dan for over 7 years...his advice. Single transfer was a safer route for me
[Empower Fertility] strengths is that they have total control over their lab and how and when they preform embryo transfers...They were amazing, helpful, compassionate and supportive....the nurse giving me her personal cell and saying I could call her anytime if I had any questions. They went above and beyond for me.
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
Dr Dan was in one word, amazing. From the moment I met with him he was genuine, straightforward, and helpful. He really cared about both me and my husband and how to get us to our goal. When we hit bumps in the road (and we did) he never gave up on us or our dream of having children. Dr Dan found a way for us to achieve our goal. We have been working with Dr Dan for over 7 years, I feel we have gotten to know him and his staff very well. We believe in him and that’s why we have followed him from clinic to clinic. He will get you to your goal! He’s an excellent doctor and all around great human.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
It’s a long hard road, know that going in and just stay focused on your end goal. It will be hard but it’s so worth it. Trust in your care team. They truly are there to help you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
I had an excellent relationship with not only Dr Rychlik but with the entire staff. I remember the nurse giving me her personal cell and saying I could call her anytime if I had any questions. They went above and beyond for me. They all really cared about me and my family’s journey. I still send them pictures of the kids growing up.
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Empower Fertility and their degree of success.
I recall having to go through multiple egg retrievals with one producing no eggs at all. I remember feeling like I went through all that work and all those shots for nothing and felt like a failure. Dr Dan and his team were so supportive and came up with a plan to move forward. I also recall having a few negative pregnancy tests in a row and needing extra attention so we did something called an ERA. My journey was not straightforward, they tailored everything for me and what my body needed. They are professional and they know what they’re doing. Trust in the process.

I think one of the clinic’s strengths is that they have total control over their lab and how and when they preform embryo transfers. Before they were restricted to conform to company standards but now they have the control and are yielding better results.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility.
It was pretty straight forward. He had prices for each procedure and prices for bundle procedures. For example a certain price for a single embryo transfer and a different price for embryo transfer until pregnant, in case the first transfer doesn’t stick.
Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Empower Fertility.
I believe Dr Dan had only the best intentions for me and I followed his advice. Single transfer was a safer route for me and that’s what we did.

[Dr. Daniel Rychlik] Strengths open to questions during appointments, called back if I had questions was clearly very knowledgeable and let us make decisions and made it clear he wasn't making any fake promises. Explained the ins and outs of different meds and adjustments that were being made. I like that he's funny because otherwise this whole ordeal would have been more difficult. Weaknesses a little formulaic/deadpan in delivery, but to some that would be a strength anyway?
[Empower Fertility] Strengths are that they're clearly a strong clinical team - once I called my priamry nurse about a question re. embryos and she said the embryologist is sitting next to her. They're also open about financial plan options because it's no secret this stuff is expensive...Personalised emails, voicemails, and contact with the Doctor and his full clinical team. Took time to answer questions through email outside of meetings, and during appointments was open to dialogue (and explaining things a second time when we were confused!). Also really appreciated how Dr Dan tries to use analogies to explain things because that really helped (and brought a little humour into an otherwise difficult situation)

He talks quickly but don't let that mislead you into thinking he's rushing you along - he's actually got a lot of patience and is very thoughtful.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?

Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Empower Fertility and their degree of success.
Two IVF/egg retrievals, both started the same with menopuur and gonal F, then added Ganirellix depending on ultrasound results before lupron trigger. First round did ultrasound every other day and blood draw every other day. In the second round we didnt do blood draws, only increased the frequency of ultrasounds (explained to me that the ultrasounds gave more immediate results than waiting for blood draws to come back from the lab) - and I didn't mind going in for ultrasounds more frequrntly since everything is close by to my house. Embryo transfer planned for early 2024
Describe your experience with your nurse at Empower Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Amanda first round, Sarah second round)
Amanda first round, Sarah second round, and Olysea was ultrasound both rounds. They were all kind, communicative, responsive, and very reassuring.
Describe your experience with Empower Fertility.
Strengths are that they're clearly a strong clinical team - once I called my priamry nurse about a question re. embryos and she said the embryologist is sitting next to her. They're also open about financial plan options because it's no secret this stuff is expensive. Weaknesses not sure; we haven't bounced around different fertility clinics to compare.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility.
Meds, genetic carrier screens, IVF, PGT-A - and we will also pay for FET early 2024
Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Empower Fertility.
He said he doesnt do multilple embryo transfer, only single transfers. Can't remember why.

He [Dr. Rychlik] address all our concerns directly and truly answered our every concern. He was direct, factual and up front but not mean or negative in anyway. During the transfer he was positive and up beat and hopeful. We retrieved 13 eggs, I have no reference for how “good” that is (particularly for a woman in her late 30’s). However, Dr was very positive, hopeful and encouraging!...He is clear and precise about what he expect from you as a patient; you have to follow the protocols exactly...
Lots of positive energy [from staff at Thread Fertility]...They all communicated their role im assisting Dr. Rychlik; in the IVF process...they [nurses] certainly imparted a high level of positive energy, empathy and kindness in particular during egg retrieval and the days following successful implant...10k without the required meds....We only had two viable eggs; we were given the impression that implanting one was the safest way to go. And we took that advice.
How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed)?
I didn't think my wife and I had a fertility issue until frolicking and fun, spontaneous or planned well in advanced didn’t result in any close calls. Ultimately, we had a long discussion about wanting children and wondering why, after nearly 10yrs of marriage (and frolicking) that it hadn’t happen. We both went to our respective primary care doctors and were each told “there is no health reason you can’t have children”. This is where my wife and I were very fortunate to find Dr. Rychlik. He sent us to get additional lab test (for both me and my wife), followed by an honest assessment of getting pregnant naturally. We are an older couple, I’m older than my wife and she is now in her early 40’s. It turns out that being healthy, in every way, including her uterus and the motility of my sperm…doesn’t guarantee pregnancy…and those odds drop every day we get older. After more conversation with Dr Rychlik we decided to put our trust in him and go the IVF route. The IVF process doesn’t ask much of me…my wife has been the epicenter of it; all the shots, the mood swings, the pain…it’s not easy. However, I couldn’t imagine going through IVF with any other doctor than Dr. Rychlik and his entire team. He is clear and precise about what he expect from you as a patient; you have to follow the protocols exactly. Also, his team is also clean, and empathetic; they certainly imparted a high level of positive energy, empathy and kindness in particular during egg retrieval and the days following successful implant. We are in our 3rd trimester and have had a relatively worry free 1st and 2nd trimester because all the advice Dr Rychlik gave us; in particular genetic testing of the embryos for viability. Based on how many eggs were retrieved versus how many were viable; it’s clear to me why we didn’t have any accidents; if left to ours own devices we wouldn’t be expecting. Dr Rychlik (and his team) made all the difference. I think IVF could be among the most significant endeavors my wife and I have ever undertaken (separately or as a couple), made easier by Dr. Rychlik’s leadership, precision and sound practical advice. I can’t say enough good things, I can literally go on and on.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed)?
I think he has a specific way of doing things, ultimately he is as goal oriented as the patient (the goal being to get pregnant). If you follow his very specific instructions, I think it affords patients the best chance.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Rychlik at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed)?
First he always spoke to us by name. He address all our concerns directly and truly answered our every concern. He was direct, factual and up front but not mean or negative in anyway. During the transfer he was positive and up beat and hopeful. We retrieved 13 eggs, I have no reference for how “good” that is (particularly for a woman in her late 30’s). However, Dr was very positive, hopeful and encouraging! The retrieval is the most invasive and stressful part of the entire process and he gave us what we needed in the moment and my wife and I will always be grateful for that.
Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed) and their degree of success.
I don’t remember the specific being the husband, I can only watch as my wife meticulously executed the instructions. From vaginal suppositories to a number of injections (for retrieval, post retrieval and implantation, etc)…the rational was simple, all of these treatments provided a better opportunity to retrieve viable eggs and a good implantation.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed). (Assigned nurse: Betty-coordinator, ultra sound nurse-Alicia)
Lots of positive energy, that goes for everyone on Dr Rychlik’s team. They all communicated their role im assisting Dr. Rychlik; in the IVF process
Describe your experience with Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).
He was in the process of creating his own clinic. The clinic where we met him was a bigger entity. Various consults were done at different offices, the retrieval and transfer were done at an out patient facility, etc. as I understand it things have changed.

Dr. Rychlik has a very deep understanding of the process. He is in fact very updated on the latest developments in the field. He explained how the embryology lab is the an important, if not the most important part of the fertility treatment and how his lab was the most state of the art lab in the city. He was super compassionate, he is extremely funny and that made me very comfortable throughout my journey...
[Thread Fertility] are literally 1/3rd the price of competition and deliver a very high quality service. I really think everyone in the Santa Barbara area should come and visit Thread Fertility. It looks modern, the waiting time is minimal and things are just amazing...IVF cycle was $7,500 and it was included pgt-a testing. The Embryo transfer was $4000 which included all transfers made from one cycle...

Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Oma Fertility - Santa Barbara (closed).
Dr. Rychlik strongly only does single embryo transfer if the embryo has been biopsied and tested for abnormalities. It was explained to us and we were in alignment with his decision.

How was your experience with Daniel Rychlik at Empower Fertility?
I recently had the privilege of being under the care of Dr. Rychlik and he was wonderful! He made me and my husband feel like human beings and truly cared about my well-being and our desire to start a family. From the moment I walked into the clinic, I knew I was in good hands. Not only as the clinic staff friendly, the clinic was clean and the atmosphere made you feel calm and at peace. One of the most remarkable aspects of my experience was Dr. Rychlik’s genuine empathy and understanding. They took the time to listen to my husband and my concerns, fears, and hopes, creating a safe and supportive environment where we felt comfortable sharing my emotions. It was evident that they not only saw me as a patient but as a person going through a challenging journey. What set him apart from other clinic’s we had visited in the past was his ability to provide expert medical care while also acknowledging the emotional and psychological impact of going through the fertility process. They recognized that the process can be overwhelming and filled with uncertainty. Instead of rushing through appointments, they patiently explained each step, ensuring I understood each step of our fertility process. Throughout my treatment, he tailored the plan to my specific needs making me feel like an active participant in the decision-making process. Their attention to detail and personalized approach gave me confidence that I was receiving the best possible care. But what truly made Dr. Rychlik exceptional was his compassion and kindness. He and his staff truly got to know my husband, my mom, and me. Empower fertility treated us like family and followed up with us even after we transferred care. He went above and beyond to meet and exceed our expectations. Whether it was a reassuring phone call or email or even a simple gesture of understanding, their presence made a world of difference. It was evident that they genuinely cared about my fertility success and overall well-being. I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional care I received from Dr. Rychlik. His expertise, compassion, and ability to create a caring environment made a difficult and emotional process more manageable. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone facing fertility challenges. Thank you, Dr. Rychlik, for making my husband and I feel like you truly cared about us and our fertility journey. Your kindness and expertise have made all the difference, and we will forever be grateful for the exceptional care you provided.

Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Empower Fertility and their degree of success.
I did an egg retrieval process first. I had to take several medications both oral and injectable to prepare for the embryo retrieval process. After the embryo retrieval, I began the frozen embryo transfer process. Again, I took a series of oral and injections to prepare for the transfer. Prior to the transfer, I began taking progesterone and continued with progesterone injections 2 times a day and continued until I was 11 weeks along in my pregnancy.

They were amazing! They responded to any questions I had by either calling me or sending me an email to answer whatever questions I had. During each visit they took the time to check in with me and my husband. They cared so much and it just made us feel so valued and that we mattered.

When I started going to Dr. Rychlik, they only were taking cash as a form of payment. This was a challenge because we could not make any payments using credit card. They also were not taking insurance so we had to pay out of pocket and then submit reimbursement.
Describe Daniel Rychlik's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Empower Fertility.
We did a single embryo transfer using the best rated embryo we had.

From the get-go, Dr. Rychlik and his [Empower Fertility] team took all the time we needed to answer questions and explain things. Never felt rushed and always felt cared for and that they were rooting for us...A major strength is that Dr. Rychlik was at every appointment. That showed that he cared and I wasn't just a number. They all bring compassion and humor so an experience that could have otherwise felt impersonal and sterile.

Describe the protocols Daniel Rychlik used in your cycles at Empower Fertility and their degree of success.
In preparation for my FET, I was prescribed birth control pills. Prior to FET, I had a SIS procedure, which found a fibroid. As a result, Dr. Rychlik recommended a hysteroscopy to better understand and visualize the fibroid. The procedure went incredibly smoothly and he was able to remove some uterine polyps; the fibroid was not needed to be removed. From there, I started a Lupron two-week kit, then estrogen in the form of pills and suppositories. Five days before transfer, I added 2x daily PIO shots. After transfer, I continued PIO and estrogen (adding in patches as well). This combination led to a thick, trilaminar uterine lining before transfer.

Describe your experience with Empower Fertility.
