How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Going into IVF it is never easy sitting down with a professional who is going to lay out the medical statistics with no fault. I knew going into the process that it wasn't going to be natural conception that led us to a baby. Dr. Simckes was honest and straightforward with me. I appreciated his ability to lighten the mood with a bit of comic relief but also keep the conversation on point and walk us to the determination of our treatment options. He was funny, straightforward, honest and transparent. I am a type A and he called me straight out and it made me realize he knew who he was dealing with and that allowed him to pair me with the right treatment protocol, and ivf coordinator. I think his ability to relay the previous failures and possible causes of our journey built trust that he understood what we would need to move forward.
I truly believe waiting the 3 years we did brought us straight to Dr. Simckes and I wouldn't have wanted any other Dr. to handle our case.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Prepare yourself to deal with a professional and not someone you want to sugar coat the facts. Doctors are intelligent and knowledgeable for a reason. If you feel that you may need a lighter approach I would start off by indicating to him that you are feeling very worried, scared or emotional so he can be sure to navigate the conversation appropriately.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr. Simckes spent the time to get to know myself and my husband. The time in our consultation really spoke volumes to us. Most Drs. rush through the medical history and push to get to the point. We felt validated in our previous efforts over the 3 years we had been trying to naturally conceive. He was able to really build confidence in us that being parents is possible but we needed to make a move.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I have low AMH and a lower AFC for my age.
The doctor wanted a one two punch approach with high dosage stimulation, estrogen priming, and adjustments as needed. The 150 Units of Follistim daily AM and PM Dosage, + 150 Menopur I believe woke up my ovaries and really got them going the way we needed to.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Deanna Burnette)
I had a fantastic experience interacting with Deanna. Her kindness and deep knowledge about the role of a fertility coordinator were truly impressive. She was actively involved in my day to day care, preparing me for my egg retrieval. She answered all of my questions quickly and provided valuable insight to the process. She was caring and that is what I was hoping to find on this journey. Having staff just as invested in your success as you are is a hard thing to find.
I was also really struck by how Fertility Partnership balances affordability with creating such a warm, family-like atmosphere. It’s clear that the office makes an effort to make everyone feel like part of the team, which is something I was genuinely excited about!
Describe your experience with Fertility Partnership.
The clinic staff were very approachable, friendly, and kind.
Pros:
- Everything is done in house including, labs, monitoring visits, retrievals, collections etc.
- Friendly environment
- Morning wait times were pretty on track.
- The location is great.
- It is affordable for most mid income families. With financing options provided.
- The monitoring appointments were a breeze to manage.
- Staff was professional and kind.
- Rooms were clean
Cons:
- The specimen collection room needs work! I understand what happens in this room is a private but the environment feels a bit like a broom closet with a sink. I would say if there could be a bit more lightening options, and a better seating/laying option it would make collection feel a lot less orchestrated.
- Be sure that you understand the financials and what options you are considering.
Once you finalize your protocol be sure to get a copy of the plan with totals so you have something to go off of. Be sure to keep good accounting records so your balances make sense to you.

Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
My doctor prefers to only transfer one embryo for a patient my age with no history of pregnancy's, losses or any confirm issues outside of my low AMH.
Dr. Simckes is very funny and easy to talk to. He made me feel at ease and hopeful without promising any miracles...Dr. Simckes was very honest about our chances and optimistic because of my follicle count at the time of the PRP treatment...Unfortunately this did not result in a positive test. During our follow up, Dr. Simckes answered all of my questions and concerns...He has a great personality and is very open and informative, but he also gets to chatting and telling stories.
Overall more strengths than weaknesses. Communicating with the [Fertility Partnership] staff at this office was streamlined and our appointments were always efficient and quick, but I did not feel like I was just another patient in a revolving door...All of the IVF coordinators at this office are very personable and helpful. I really appreciated access to the staff via text message as the other office we worked with required a lot of phone tag with nurses. This office helps you find the most affordable meds, and seems to genuinely care about your success.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr. Simckes is very funny and easy to talk to. He made me feel at ease and hopeful without promising any miracles. He may not have always remembered details from prior discussions, but my IVF coordinator always did.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
I would say come prepared with a list of questions and concerns and the mindset that you sometimes have to keep him on task during consultations. He has a great personality and is very open and informative, but he also gets to chatting and telling stories.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
I originally went to Fertility Partnership for a PRP treatment in preparation of my First IVF cycle. My husband and I liked the staff and doctor so much that we decided to go with them for our first round of IVF, which we were paying out of pocket for. Dr. Simckes was very honest about our chances and optimistic because of my follicle count at the time of the PRP treatment. All of the IVF coordinators at this office are very personable and helpful. I really appreciated access to the staff via text message as the other office we worked with required a lot of phone tag with nurses. This office helps you find the most affordable meds, and seems to genuinely care about your success. We ended up with 2 low quality embryos that we transferred on day 3. Unfortunately this did not result in a positive test. During our follow up, Dr. Simckes answered all of my questions and concerns. We ended up moving back to our original clinic as I had started a job that provided fertility benefits but Fertility Partnership was out of network and also 3.5 hours away from our home.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I was placed on birth control so that my cycle would sync up with the rest of the women in the group. I was on baby aspirin, follistem, an antibiotic, Gonal F, Menopur, Pregnyl and Progesterone in oil. I do not recall the doses and may have left something out.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Deanna B.)
Deanna was really great to work with. She responded to questions quickly and genuinely cared about our results. She made me feel really cared for and remembered everything we had ever talked about, including non medical related information. I really appreciated her bedside manner as she had to tell me disappointing news and handled it like a compassionate pro and even followed up with me later on via text.

Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
I think in total we spent around 15K on our IVF cycle and PRP.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
The doctor transferred both of our embryos on day 3 as they were both evolving slower than we wanted and being in my uterus sooner than later was giving them the best chance. We had requested to transfer both.
Dr. Simckes appeared to be nice and caring but was very crass at times. He would make inappropriate jokes and talk about inappropriate content. At times his comments borderline racially insensitive. I don’t think he did it intentionally but has no sensor. He often forgot what we would talk about and would tell me half the information... He is not very thorough and would often rush. If you ask him a question l, he would answer...He encouraged transferring two embryos at a time which was fine with us since we wanted two children.
The price was really affordable but you get what you pay for [at Fertility Partnership]. They are extremely busy so the appointments are rushed. It took 2 months to schedule a cycle review which is extremely disappointing when you get a negative test result...The nursing staff was really nice and compassionate. Especially the nurse for retrieval’s and transfers. She was very caring and comforting. Trish was very kind and compassionate as well but could tell she would get overwhelmed and busy.

Dr. Simckes was very rushed and would often forget details of my situation. He always had to refresh who I was.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I was prescribed menopause, follistim, and Gonal-F. I was double triggered with Lupron. Post transfer I had to inject Heparin twice a day and POI Once a day.

They actually make you wait to talk about it even though at the initial consultation he stated he would sit with me for a hour to go over the cycle review if needed.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
Both of my IVF cycle was approximately $9000 and about $3000 for medicine. The FET was $5000.

What specific things went wrong at Fertility Partnership?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
At times I was told a medicine was called in and the pharmacy said no. My FET was cancelled but still billed half the cost and couldn’t be provided an itemized bill of why.
He [Dr. David Simckes] asked very detailed questions and related to us on a personal level. He didn’t just run through facts, he talked about hope and what he was willing to do and not willing to do. He also spoke to being in the fight with us as long as we were in the fight. He also explained things that had never been explained to me before by previous doctors...He’s very fun and blunt but very caring. At our first meeting he explained all of the options and outcomes that could happen. He explained good outcomes and “negative” outcomes. Best case and worse case...and I appreciated
they [staff at Fertility Partnership] are very honest, quick, and they care that you understand everything you came to understand. They will answer questions and review as many times as possible. I was also encouraged to call or email if I thought of any questions...Everyone was very friendly which is needed going into this already overwhelming situation. Each persons spoke to us even when they weren’t working on our case. When I cried I was given tissues and time to gather myself. Nobody rushed me to feel anything. I was in great hands.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
I found him on fb and tv. But what solidified our coming to him was the experience of a family friend. She shared her experience and it was confirmation for us. Once we entered into our appointment and he saw who referred us, he knew exactly who we were talking about. He remembered this patient from 4 years ago. He’s very fun and blunt but very caring. At our first meeting he explained all of the options and outcomes that could happen. He explained good outcomes and “negative” outcomes. Best case and worse case...and I appreciated it all. Because it let me know he was clear in understanding my individual case. He didn’t see me as typical, cookie-cutter patient. Even with how hard my case is, he knew what steps to take and they got right to business.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Go in open and ready with your questions but most of all be ready to answer questions and learn about your condition. I learned things I hadn’t heard in the over 10 years I’ve been dealing with my condition and the over 7 years I’ve been dealing with infertility.

I still a new patients since we are at the beginning of our fertility journey with this clinic. I was also encouraged to call or email if I thought of any questions.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
If we pay everything out of pocket, it looks like we will be spending about $12-13,000. That’s with medication and procedure included.
[Dr. Simckes is] a laid back doctor; not too “stuffy”. IVF is such a stressful process, and we feel like he alleviates some of that with his personality and relationship with his patients...he did recommend IVF with ICSi, as we are dealing with male factor infertility in my husband...He was very personable, and was not at all rushed with our appointment...He performed a hysteroscopy/ D & C on me to remove a uterine fibroid, and told my grandmother as he took me back that he would take good care of me, and treat me as he would his own daughter. He’s always been very personable, and thorough with explanations of what’s going to occur next. We look forward to continuing treatment with him!
All of the nursing staff that we have had interaction with [at Fertility Partnership] have all been very thorough in answering any questions we’ve had thus far. Denise had a meeting with us to explain and demonstrate how all the injections would work, and answer any questions we had...The first thing that attracted us to this clinic was the lower costs associated with IVF than others, more local to us. It’s a smaller clinic, which we prefer, over a big hospital setting. I think it helps with the raport created between the staff and patients.

Dr. Simckes was very sympathetic when I experienced my miscarriage after our fresh transfer. He was also very explicit with any information I was seeking at any point during my cycle. One of the things that helped me the most was when he called me personally late at night after transfer because I was experiencing severe abdominal pain that would not let up. He talked me through what to do and even brought me in the next morning
Setting up my initial consultation [at Fertility Partnership] was extremely simple. Sarah walked me through all my paperwork that I needed to have prior to meeting Dr. Simckes. She made sure I had all my necessary records from my other doctors so that I wouldn’t have to repeat any tests or exams. The business manager was very upfront and happy to answer any questions we had about the financial portion and what our contract consisted of.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr. Simckes is very blunt and not for the faint hearted. He lays everything out for you (good, bad, ugly and even using those terms) during your initial consultation and each visit. He is also very sympathetic and heartfelt especially when you experience a lost (I did). He can be harsh with his staff when he is frustrated and things are not how he wants them to be but he also shows how much he cares for them. I had a moment following my retrieval when I was upset and worried about doing a fresh transfer and he (while being harsh) bluntly laid it out for me and told me not to stress about it that my body handled everything fine and it’s going to do what it needs to. While it was hard to hear I felt the trust and confidence he had in himself and me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Don’t hold back when meeting with him. Ask anything and everything so you are fully prepared and what is to come. He will answer any questions no matter silly or difficult. Also don’t let him push you into anything you are not comfortable with. He puts a lot of hope on you because he wants you at have success and if you are not able to manage that or feel that you are strong enough for this difficult journey then don’t commit u til you’re ready. This is a life changing experience in more ways than one and it takes a lot strength and support.

Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I have a tubal blockage in both follopian tubes, adhesions disease from prior surgeries, right ovary stuck to backside of uterus, and a small amount of endometriosis. My levels all came back normal and within that required relms of quality when testing hormone levels and endometrium so I only required minimal medications. My daily list prior to stimming included prenatal with DHA, Fabb Tablet, low dose aspirin, CoQ10, and vitamin D (all once daily). I didn’t have to do a short cycle on birth control to adjust my cycle to fit their batching schedules. Once stimming started I had two injections a day (follistem and menopur) for the first 5 days. On day 5 I added in ganerilex until my final monitor on day 10. On day 10 my eggs were quite large and there were over 20 so due to my adhesions disease and stuck ovary he had me take my trigger shot that evening and I had retrieval two days later. Retrieval went great. 22 eggs were collected 15 were mature enough to be fertilized, 10 successfully fertilized, and 2 remained viable to day 5. PIO injections began this day to prep for transfer. On day 5 post retrieval I had 1 embryo transferrred successfully. Day 11 post transfer HCG was <.05, day 14 post transfer HCG was 7, day 16 HCG was back to <.05, day 18 cycle review with Dr. Simckes, and day 20 body expelled embryonic and uterine tissue. Declared chemical pregnancy/miscarriage
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Denise )
Denise was very helpful throughout the entire process. She answered any questions I had no matter how dumb they were. She also stayed in touch with me even after I lost the baby. She went above and beyond with all of my preparations for stimming and even practiced injecting the medications prior to their arrival. I love how “real” she was and didn’t sugar coat anything for me. She made sure that I understood every step and detail...good, bad, and ugly.

She went step by step with us as we signed our contract and explained in great detail each potential scenario that could take place and how we could handle it. She also made sure to itemize the financial portion so we were aware of where our money would be going towards.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
$7,000 for full IVF cycle without medications (consultation, monitorings, retrieval, transfer, lab work)
$950 for cryopreservation of embryos
Medications were ordered privately from personal pharmacy.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
My OBGYN recommended only 1 embryo be transferred due to my adhesions disease and Dr. Simckes agreed. I was completely in agreement with both doctors.
Dr. Simckes is a very down to earth doctor, he goes to the point on what I need to do and/or change in order to accomplish what we need to do next. He doesn't sugarcoat the comments or results, but always being professional....The downside of him is, since he is a good doctor he has many patients, and by being only him as the doctor his time of being with me on an appointment visit gets small and always on a hurry.
The clinic [Fertility Partnership] is really nice, it's in a good location, all the staff is really friendly and seem to care about us. I don't see no weaknesses so far. Every time I go I get treated with respect and when doctor has a few minutes comes and checks the front desk to make sure nurses and receptionist are up to date to what ever is needed. Only once did I saw when there was no receptionist in the front desk when he needed to ask something for us, he just went and got her and told her she needed to be there because she is the first on line for patients to need.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr. Simckes is a very down to earth doctor, he goes to the point on what I need to do and/or change in order to accomplish what we need to do next. He doesn't sugarcoat the comments or results, but always being professional. In every visit he talks with my husband and I on what next steps to take and makes sure we understand them, he evens takes time to make a little chat with my husband about his job and asks him if he's not being stressful about it, saying he need to be well fed and with energy, since he plays a big role in the process.
When we started the IVF he told us every step we were going to do and made sure we had copies of what ever we needed.
The downside of him is, since he is a good doctor he has many patients, and by being only him as the doctor his time of being with me on an appointment visit gets small and always on a hurry. He does explains everything we need to know, but he's always with that sense of a hurry that makes me think sometimes I'm taking his time away.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
My advice would be that when seeing Dr. Simckes be open minded, because he tells you the things as they are, he doesn't sugarcoat it or tries to treat you like a baby. He goes straight to the point and finds solutions fast. Where we as patients see as walls, he sees as a new point of him learning and helping us out to get our dream of building our family.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
I felt and feel like a human, every time I see and speak to him because he makes sure to focus on me and find solutions to the problems. Instead of blaming me or saying I'm not doing enough, he focus on him trying to find a way to solve the problems that get build up from one moment to another, again without blaming me or my husband, he makes sure he answers all my questions and my husbands. Checks with all the nurses that they are in the same page as to what he means and says.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
When we first started in 2018, he told us we were going to start step by step to see what works. At first he prescribed me metformin 1000mg twice a day and various vitamins, to see if that helped me regulate my cycle. Then he put me on Clomid, which it did help me ovulate, but unfortunately it didn't help me get pregnant. After that my husband and I decided to go ahead and do IVF. In February 2019 we started IVF I was on Prednisone 10mg tablet every morning, Follistim 150un in mornings and Menopur 75un vials 2 of them, 150un in the afternoons. for 9 days for a few days I did Ganirelix 250mcg all this I did, not many side effects only I started getting bloated. On every monitor visit I had my blood drawn. I took Antibiotics- ZPac and I did a trigger shot, Ovidrel to have my egg retrival. On my egg retrival day I arrived changed to a gown and had an IV inserted. The anesthesiologist asked questions I met my Dr. to go over everything. Had me egg retrival with a list of dos and don'ts, I got super bloated after the retrival for 2 weeks. On the day after my retrival I had the Endocrinologist call me and told me how many eggs were retrieved, but unfortunately none made it. 2 weeks after I went for my follow up visit, which I talked with my doctor about what happened. There was no answer as to why my eggs didn't make it, so we contacted via phone the Endocrinologist and he said probably my body had reaction with the meds, but he feels more sure that another round of IVF will work on me, since my body already had the feeling of all the meds. So now we're in the waiting for May IVF.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Denise Graham)
She was super helpful on everything I needed. I got to text with her on every question or thing I needed to let her know at what ever time of day. She didn't keep me waiting a long time for answers.
She was with me on every monitor visit and had a plan set up already there and explain everything I needed so good. She made a list on how to keep my meds organized and how to do them. She showed me how to inject the meds and gave me videos of how to do it and made sure I understood. In overall kind, friendly, patient.

Which that made me like him more, since he cares for his clinic to be up to good standards as to care about patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
The cost for the visits I had to pay out of pocket, because of me not having insurance, which they gave me a better price. For the IVF, they do keep their prices low and to help out with meds he told us to get them from overseas since it's half of the cost if getting them from here, US.
I had to pay IVF, medications, monitoring visits, blood work, retrival, freezing, transfer. For the procedure I had to do a down payment to get in, once I went for my first monitor visit I had to paid the full amount in order to continue. If I wanted PGS testing, that would be a different price.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
We did talked about this before we started IVF and during the process. He told us they did single transfer, but if we wanted to do 2 and if I was able to carry multiples he could, just that we needed to sign papers for him not to be at risk. That he has many patients that have had twins with no complications, but when we gotten to that point of deciding we talked more about it.
Dr. Simckes really has a passion for helping you reach your goals and it shows in the way he speaks to you. The only critique I have is that he look over your chart before coming into the exam room and that he not be so rushed to try to cram information down your throat and then take off. ... I am older (35-40 range) and have PCOS & slight male factor- we used a "high / low" protocol with a Lupron trigger. I got 23 mature eggs but only 2 made it to blast. ...
my miscarriage happened on a Friday. I did not hear from the doctor until the following Thursday because he was never informed of my situation. ... The ladies at the front desk [Fertility Partnership] and nurses that take vitals are always extremely nice. ... The office manager is lacking in communication. If you don't get a call back or email you have to continue chasing after her. She is tolerable though.

The only critique I have is that he look over your chart before coming into the exam room and that he not be so rushed to try to cram information down your throat and then take off. Other than that Dr. Simckes has the ideal bedside manner for those that like a little humor mixed in with the seriousness of infertility. He's a great guy all in all.

Go with the flow! He really cares, he's just so busy.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
During the few minutes we would see him he was amazing. Spoke to us like old friends. The part that wasn't so good is it seemed like he never fully knew who he was talking to. Would ask us questions that we expected him to have the answers to as they should be in our chart.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I am older (35-40 range) and have PCOS & slight male factor- we used a "high / low" protocol with a Lupron trigger. I got 23 mature eggs but only 2 made it to blast. We avoided OHSS so I don't think my outcome is the fault of my protocol at all.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Dainelle for FET)
My nurse seemed "new" at her job and lacked compassion and communication skills. She wasn't ever rude or mean just more like blahsay
Describe your experience with Fertility Partnership.
The ladies at the front desk and nurses that take vitals are always extremely nice. Sara at front desk goes above and beyond to answer questions and assist when she is needed. The office manager is lacking in communication. If you don't get a call back or email you have to continue chasing after her. She is tolerable though.

Well, I had to wait over 24hrs for BETA results because I was not informed the clinic closes early on a certain day of the week. Beta is pretty important in this process and being told at the last minute I would not get results caused unneeded stress. Also, my miscarriage happened on a Friday. I did not hear from the doctor until the following Thursday because he was never informed of my situation.
Every single appt with Dr. Simckes he took the time to explain our next steps and to really get to know my husband and beyond IVF.... I would say be prepared with questions that you want to talk to the doctor about. His enthusiasm is contagious and sometimes you can get swept up in the moment and the excitement and forget some of the questions you wanted to ask... He has so much energy and he truly believes he can help every single patient that comes to through his door.
The biggest thing that I can really say about this clinic [Fertility Partnership] is everybody who is there truly does want to help you achieve your goal of having a baby They understand the road for many of us is not easy and they provide any additional support that they can to help you through this process... The entire nursing staff was very helpful and courteous They always make sure my appointments were scheduled, I had my medications ordered and anytime I had any questions they responded in a prompt manner

I can’t tell you how grateful I am that I trusted my gut and got a second opinion, otherwise would not have found Dr. Simckes or have my son. He has so much energy and he truly believes he can help every single patient that comes to through his door.

Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I don’t recall exact protocol, but I do know I was 36 years old and both cycles we retrieved 25 eggs each resulting in 14 total embryos. I have a son from one of these transfers

This particular clinic is different than the first one I had went to because they had a package deal for the entire IVF process with one cost. I am very fortunate that I have insurance to cover the cost of my IVF so I don’t know an actual out-of-pocket for a non insurance patient
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
Dr. some Kaaris thought it was best to transfer one embryo because it gave us a option to tweak protocol if the transfer failed. I only had two PGS normal embryos
Dr Simckes is extremely knowledgeable and he really cares about his patients. His communication style is abrasive and he seems very rushed in all of our appointments. His bedside manner was no for me.... Prior to egg retrieval, he prescribed prenatal, Vit D, CoQ10, and folguard. For retrieval, I stimmed with menopur and follistim. For transfer, my protocol was PIO, estrogen, heparin, and prednisone.
The primary nurse [at Fertility Partnership] for retrieval and fresh transfer is very organized and reliable. The nurse for FET’s is inexperienced, not knowledgeable, and disorganized.... Strengths—very personal touch with Dr seeing you at every appointment and doing all monitoring. Dr Simckes really does care about his patients and is willing to take suggestions on treatment from them. Weaknesses—long waits, Dr is always late or running behind. Financial advisor is a mess.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
We had a situation where I had a D&C scheduled with Dr Simckes at an outside surgery center. This was to collect tissue from a miscarriage. The morning of the procedure, we waited for over an hour past scheduled surgery time for Dr. to show up. The surgery center finally called him and he was not even aware I was at the center and scheduled for the procedure. His staff did not inform him or he forgot. Either way, it resulted in me waiting for over an hour past scheduled surgery time and a rushed procedure that resulted in the tissue being cross-contaminated so we were unable to get genetic testing results.
Dr. Simckes is a dedicated and kind-hearted person! I admire his passion! He is very open, honest and realistic when discussing fertility treatments. I think one of his best traits is his humor.... while undergoing an IUI cycle, Dr. Simckes provided his personal cell phone number in case I received a positive ovulation test over the weekend so that he could come in and do the procedure. I know that this is something, he does for all his patients.... I had my first consultation appointment scheduled within a week and a half of my initial call
The clinic [Fertility Partnership] is very clean and set up in a soothing manner. The majority of my appointments start on time and occasionally even earlier. All the staff members have been very friendly and welcoming. The clinic is also able to do most fertility procedures at their office which is great!...Dr. Simckes is a dedicated and kind-hearted person! I admire his passion! He is very open, honest and realistic when discussing fertility treatments. I think one of his best traits is his humor. Laughter is the key to happiness which is so needed for anyone struggling with infertility.

Dr. Simckes is a dedicated and kind-hearted person! I admire his passion! He is very open, honest and realistic when discussing fertility treatments. I think one of his best traits is his humor. Laughter is the key to happiness which is so needed for anyone struggling with infertility. Before meeting Dr. Simckes, I felt alone and hopeless. However, now I feel empowered when it comes to my struggle with infertility. A little faith, persistence and science could be what it takes for me to eventually have a healthy pregnancy. I have never felt more supported or important as a patient. Two things really portrayed this. One, I had my first consultation appointment scheduled within a week and a half of my initial call which is rare with fertility clinics. Two, while undergoing an IUI cycle, Dr. Simckes provided his personal cell phone number in case I received a positive ovulation test over the weekend so that he could come in and do the procedure. I know that this is something, he does for all his patients. Overall, Dr. Simckes is amazing and truly cares about his patients.

Dr. Simckes has been a godsend during one of the most difficult times in my life! He has brought light to my husband and I’s fertility journey, by being upbeat, extremely hilarious and realistic. I couldn’t ask for a better doctor.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I am diagnosed with secondary unexplained infertility. I had my now 13-year-old daughter when I was 15-years-old. In 2016, I had moderate cervical cell displaysia. My gynecologist, at the time, completed a LEEP procedure which left me with a scarred cervix which caused my cervix to be stenosed. The next OB/GYN I saw recommended an HSG test. During the HSG, my left tube was slow to fill, but eventually did. After the test, my OB/GYN then recommended I see a reproductive endocrinologist. This is when I started seeing Dr. Simckes. Dr. Simckes found several polyps in my uterus and removed them a couple weeks later. After the surgery, we tried a medicated IUI with Clomid and an Ovidrel trigger shot. Unfortunately, the IUI was unsuccessful. My husband and I decided to take a break this cycle, but will be in contact next cycle to discuss our next steps with Dr. Simckes.

Ashley (unsure of her surname) is also very compassionate and professional. She always has a bright smile on her face and is knowledgeable when answering my questions. All the staff at the office have been kind and responsive!

Our IUI cycle was $700, plus medications which were about $150.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
I have not undergone embryo transfer at this time.
From the moment I stepped into Dr. Simckes’ practice, I felt like I was family....When our first transfer failed(no fault of his) he PERSONALLY called me and spent over an hour with me on the phone consoling me and figuring out what our future steps were....I have to use a gestational carrier. Dr. Simckes started us both on a “cold cycle” since we can’t really sync up with me not having a period. She started with lupron injections and I was on menopur
This clinic [Fertility Partnership] is clean and well kept. Everything is done in-house, including retrieval, transfers, blood work, etc. The staff all works together well to ensure your success. They are well organized and are fully capable of doing their jobs and doing them well. I trust them completely and entirely. They have an amazing amount of professionalism, compassion and empathy....Dr. Simckes prides himself on being afforadable! IVF is only $7,000 for the first round, and since I had a gestational carrier it was an additional $3,000 for transferring to her.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
I cannot find enough good things to say about Dr. Simckes. From the moment I knew him, I was 100% certain that he would be my forever doctor. He made me feel at ease. He explained everything about each procedure before and after doing anything. He always makes sure you are comfortable and not in any pain. He jokes around when appropriate and is soothing and calm when you need him to be. He is the most compassionate and caring doctor I’ve ever met (and I’ve met a lot!). He gets to know his patients so well that when something doesn’t work out the way they wanted it to, he personally feels it and wants to do every single thing he can to help fix it. He demonstrates such humility, honesty, integrity, and courtesy. It is like nothing I’ve ever seen before. When our first transfer failed(no fault of his) he PERSONALLY called me and spent over an hour with me on the phone consoling me and figuring out what our future steps were. This doctor should be rated the best in the nation.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?

From the moment I stepped into Dr. Simckes’ practice, I felt like I was family. I never felt like a number or herded cattle. I always had a warm welcome from the staff, and Dr. Simckes spends a lot of time getting to know each of his patients personally. He remembered things about me at my subsequent visits that I would never have expected him to. Going to see a fertility doctor or any “lady parts” doctor is typicall a very uncomfortable experience for me, but Dr. Simckes lightens the mood with his boisterous, generous, and kind bedside manner and eases any possibly awkwardness or discomfort before you have it. Dr. Simckes’ staff greets you with a smile, remembers your name, and they always make you feel like you are at home from the second you walk through the door.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I had a hysterectomy when I was 24 so I have to use a gestational carrier. Dr. Simckes started us both on a “cold cycle” since we can’t really sync up with me not having a period. She started with lupron injections and I was on menopur, ganirelix and follistim injections. I began my shots September 9th and was able to have my retrieval on September 20th. I had 18 eggs, 15 were mature and 12 fertilized. Out of the 12, 6 made it to great quality 5 day embryos, we transferred two embryos (3B+ grade) on September 25th to my gestational carrier. She had started her Lupron August 26th and on the day of my retrieval stopped the Lupron and started progesterone shots, estradiol and estrogen gel. We each had 2 monitoring appointments (September 10th & 17th) as well. Dr. Simckes were so involved with our medication protocol that I was able to text them and even FaceTime them with any questions at any time!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Denise, Danielle, Sara, Irene, Ashley, Juanita, Amy, Julia)
The staff at this practice is second to none! You get red carpet service - their personal cell phone numbers in the event that you have a question or concern. They are compassionate and feel all that you feel right along with you. They hold your hand as much as you need it, and they encourage you all along the way. They are optimistic and just a pleasure to work with.

Dr. Simckes prides himself on being afforadable! IVF is only $7,000 for the first round, and since I had a gestational carrier it was an additional $3,000 for transferring to her. There was about $1300 in additional expenses such as freezing of embryos and labs as well, but he also helps you save money on medication.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
My doctor suggested a single embryo transfer but I insisted a double embryo transfer. He wants what is best for you (or in this case your surrogate) and your babies. He is not going to fight you though if your heart is really wanted to do a double verses a single embryo transfer and he will be sure to explain the risks.
He [Dr. Simckes] explained everything to me, and broke it down for us to understand. He was kind but blunt with the best way to go for us. He explained why we would want to try one way vs the other. He gave me hope back that I will carry my own child ... He explained that with the type of PCOS and my age that the chances are greater of us conceiving, but we will probably have to do a frozen cycle for my safety.
They [Fertility Partnership] give a paper that breaks everything down so you can see cost and exactly what it is going towards. ... Their waiting room is open and spacious. How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
He came in and unlike my first Dr. Made me feel comfortable right off the bat. We went over charts/numbers/options, he never made me feel like I was in the wrong for asking questions. He made us laugh and cry (happy tears), he gave us a new sense of Hope and that we can make this a reality.

We had our consultation, he explained my levels, my husband's. He explained the medicines he would like us to start with. When we got in the exam room, he explained what we we're seeing on the ultrasound. From there he explained why he thought the route he had chosen would be the best option for us and why the other he felt would be unethical and us just throwing $$ away. He explained that with the type of PCOS and my age that the chances are greater of us conceiving, but we will probably have to do a frozen cycle for my safety. Also said chances we're great of having our tribe ready to go in the freezer IF we needed for other kiddos down the road.

It was very reasonable compared to any other facility we had looked into. They give a paper that breaks everything down so you can see cost and exactly what it is going towards.
Dr simkes was a very pleasant DR. ... I had a deep issue but with husband morphology but he never took care of that instead he insisted on continuous transfers and all were unsuccessful leaving me with no more money and no more eggs ... He was very respectful to our culture. But I feel DR simkes didn’t do his part in finding the reason why my embryo wouldn’t turn into a baby and left me with unexplained infertility.
they [Fertility Partnership] made mistake with the charts that claimed I had done 3 transfers and I had no more embryos but infact I had 2 more left. It gave me an uneasy feeling but I went through with it anyways ... I don’t like that fact that they bring the new born and the whole camera crew to take pictures in the awaiting area with women who are trying or had failed cycles and also want a baby.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr simkes was a friendly DR. He was kind and always had a smile on his face. He was very respectful to our culture. But I feel DR simkes didn’t do his part in finding the reason why my embryo wouldn’t turn into a baby and left me with unexplained infertility. He knew my husband had low morphology but he didn’t do anything about it. He just expected everything to work according to plan since all I had was PCOS. I feel like I wasted a lot of time and money and heartbreak to get no answers in return.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
After all failed attempts, please ask for more answers. Dr simkes left me after my last failed cycle . No phone call, no follow up to deal with the depression on my own. Just know that you have to get answers and help after failed cycles
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr simkes was a very pleasant DR. And he gave us our undivided attention, but he treated every case the same in my opinion. I had a deep issue but with husband morphology but he never took care of that instead he insisted on continuous transfers and all were unsuccessful leaving me with no more money and no more eggs
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
Dr simckes used medication so that way my eggs would multiply . After that he put me to sleep and retrieved my eggs. He had my husband give samples in a cup then with each egg he added a sperm. After 5 days, 6 out of the 22 made it. He then inserted 2 fresh embryo’s and sent me home and to come back after 2 weeks. Within the two weeks I had to injection myself with medication to help with the embryo. After 2 weeks I went back and the levels were too low so they said it was a chemical pregnancy. I then waited a few months and we inserted the two frozen embryos. That also led to chemical pregnancy. Before the last cycle . He did a DNC and Enzo scratch food everything normal then put the last 2 embryos which also led to chemical pregnancy. After the third cycle I haven’t heard from him again
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Partnership.
The nursing staff was very friendly always smiling and always responded to emails promptly
Describe your experience with Fertility Partnership.
I love how they have the children’s photos up and success stories. It’s very motivating but I don’t like that fact that they bring the new born and the whole camera crew to take pictures in the awaiting area with women who are trying or had failed cycles and also want a baby. I feel as if they need to be considerate to who is sitting out there.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
Dr simckes round were covered with my work Insurance until my final cycle where they decided to change the code for storage of the embryos so that way I would have to pay out of pocket. They found a way to cheat the system and they did it. The diagnosis code was changed for my final cycle so led me to pay out of pocket
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
I would always go for multiple because you maybe never know which one makes it and which one doesn’t . But doing single transfers at a time will help buy more time to figure out what the problem is.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
With my last transfer, DR simckes told me that I had no more embryos to transfer, but I knew for sure that I had two more. So he went to the charts and it says 6 retrieved but no more transfers left. He made a few phone calls and it turns out that they made mistake with the charts that claimed I had done 3 transfers and I had no more embryos but infact I had 2 more left. It gave me an uneasy feeling but I went through with it anyways
Dr. Simckes was able to be calm our nerves and explain every part of the process in a detailed and relatable way. He has a fantastic personality that always made me feel like I was the most important patient in the building. He also has a sense of confidence about him that made me feel as though everything was going to be okay. For example, on the day that we transferred the embryos he had joked about us feeling the need to transfer 2. He was so sure that one would get the job done. I distinctly remember the day that I went in and was able to hear the heartbeat for the first time. I was so nervous and hesitated to even celebrate for the sheer worry of disappointment. After noticing my nerves getting the best of me, he grabbed my hand told me that I had a less than one-percent chance of something going wrong and that I deserved the opportunity to celebrate. He said it was time to name the fetus even giving the example "Cletus the Fetus". Every time I walked out of his office I just knew everything was going to be okay. Dr. Simckes is very knowledgeable and answered ALL of my questions, eased my husband's mind, and was able to successfully make our dream come true within a reasonable price.
The clinic [Fertility Partnership] is clean and all of the employees are friendly and thorough in their answers. They treated me like family during my time there. One area of weakness would be the amount of time spent waiting in the waiting room. Dr. Simckes seemed to run a bit behind on his appointments. However, I didn't mind it too much because I understood why. When I was in the room with him he never made me feel rushed. He took his time to address my questions and concerns as well as give thorough examinations. I knew that the people ahead of me deserved that time as well. I just always planned to be there longer than expected.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
When I sent a message to Dr. Simckes on a Sunday, he took time out of his day to call me right back. He spent well over an hour on the phone with me talking with me and relating this experience to my husband. We had male factor infertility and Dr. Simckes was able to share encouragement and empower my husband to make the decision to move forward.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
In the beginning, Dr. Simckes had me begin taking a prenatal vitamin immediately. About a month before the transfer, I was put on birth control to regulate my cycle so that they could plan the egg retrieval.
Approximately 16 days later, I believe, he had me give myself a shot of Ovidrel. This was to "trigger" and prepare my ovaries to release my eggs.
18 days later, Dr. Simckes had me begin taking prednisone. He also had me start taking 150 units of Follistim in the morning and 150 units of Menopur in the evening. This was to begin growing my eggs, so that they could capture a larger number for the egg retrieval. Dr. Simckes also had me come in to begin scanning my ovaries using an ultrasound. He was able to tell me approximately how many eggs I had in each ovary and the general sizes.
On the day of the retrieval, Dr. Simckes put under light anesthesia and retrieved approximately 24 eggs. Starting that day, he began to have me take "Progesterone in Sesame Oil" to put the progesterone hormone into my body since we were not getting pregnant naturally and my body didn't know to produce it on its own. I took this shot daily until I was released from him at 9 weeks.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Denise Graham)
Denise and Ashley were the two nurses that took care of me. Denise was the fertility coordinator and Ashley was the nurse that weighed me at every appointment and took my vitals. Ashley also showed me how to administer the medication. They were both very patient, detailed in their explanations, and always there to answer any questions I may have. I even had a phone number that I could call or text at any time to receive a response from them. I remember texting on the weekend a few questions and they immediately responded to my concerns. They were so helpful , caring, and compassionate during my experience there.
Describe your experience with Fertility Partnership.
The clinic is clean and all of the employees are friendly and thorough in their answers.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
I paid $7,000 for the IVF treatment, $600/year to store my extra embryos, and paid a few hundred dollars (after insurance) for the ultrasounds once I achieved my pregnancy.
In addition to the fees at the office, I had to paid approximately $3,500 for medication.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
Dr. Simckes suggested to only transfer one embryo and did share the risks of multiples. My husband and I decided to transfer 2. He willingly did so, but joked about lacking confidence in him. He also shared that the statistics of successful pregnancies are not actually higher by transferring 2.
Dr simkes gave us the 1 on 1 we were looking for, but implanted so much hope into us, but as soon as the results kept turning negative he payed less and less attention to us . Which was really hurtful...I have 3 cycles and they all were done the same way. I feel as if before implanting the last two embryos I had he should of done some extensive blood test to see why I keep getting chemical pregnancy. He believed that i can get pregnant and that there was nothing seriously wrong with me other than PCOS so he kept implanting my embryos until I had no more left. And after my last failed cycle he had no answer to why it didn’t occur into a baby. I was just left high and dry and to deal with depression and anxiety on my own. He didn’t even warn me about the side effects of getting off the medicine .. the worst ever.
Strength is that they are very friendly [at Fertility Partnership] , weakness is that they get too much clients that he [Dr. Simckes] forgets who is who...I wasn’t given a reason to my failed cycles . I also got my charts messed up and I was told I had no more frozen embryos when in fact I had 2 more left. I don’t blame them they had a lot of patients but my charts were wrong...I just wish he did more blood test to see if I have any other defects that are causing the embryos not to stick. Other than that nothing else
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Okay I liked dr simkes as a person. Very funny guy, very warm and friendly , but I didn’t think he did everything he can to help me get a baby .. I have 3 cycles and they all were done the same way. I feel as if before implanting the last two embryos I had he should of done some extensive blood test to see why I keep getting chemical pregnancy. He believed that i can get pregnant and that there was nothing seriously wrong with me other than PCOS so he kept implanting my embryos until I had no more left. He didn’t even warn me about the side effects of getting off the medicine .. the worst ever.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
I would tell patients to do as much research you possibly can before getting into your cycles so that way you know if the doctor is guiding you to the right path or just trying to implant the embryos and say he did his job. After two failed attempts I know theirs more work that had to be done before another implantation and that wasn’t done for me. Look at the reviews as well before going into the office
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?

Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
Dr simkes gave me medicine to get the egg count up. Then he took the eggs out, because he didn’t want to get into hyperstimulation he had me wait 5 days then we implanted the embryos, then after that failed 3 months later , he altered my period to follow everyone else cycle so that way he can implant my embryo with eveyone else , that also failed. Then before the third cycle he did a dye test to see if my tubes were blocked And also did a D&C to clear me out, implanted again and failed, with no phone call saying sorry or no phone explaining what’s next and how to deal with the depression and anxiety that will happen after we stop the medicine. No warning what so ever
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Partnership.
Very friendly staff and always smiling , and always return your calls

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
I was never informed of the effect my body got after I wasn’t on the medicine anymore. I wasn’t told that I would have anxiety and depression after I stop taking my medicine. I wasn’t given a reason to my failed cycles . I also got my charts messed up and I was told I had no more frozen embryos when in fact I had 2 more left. I don’t blame them they had a lot of patients but my charts were wrong
He was very set on facts. Your weight is this. You have this condition. You need to be treated for this to get that outcome...He is obviously knowledgeable, but he comes off more casual to make you more comfortable. Some people would be bothered by the profanity, but I'm not one. He edged the line of inappropriate but never crossed it. I felt very comfortable in his care. He went above and beyond to ensure my cycle needs were met (including performing an IUI on a holiday, because that's where my cycle fell)...

He was very set on facts. Your weight is this. You have this condition. You need to be treated for this to get that outcome. But he was also very adamant he understand your personality. If he ever got a "she's crazy" vibe, he would continue discussions until he felt either he knew you better or would refer you to a different Doctor.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
He insisted on metformin, 1000 mg 2x per day, but not the extended release. I did 1 round of clomid. 2 rounds of clomid mixed with bravelle. I ended up on an antagonistic IVF cycle, to better compliment my PCOS. He was adamant about progesterone gel after IUI and PIO Injections with transfer.

Super busy. Plan to wait. Try to not have your first appointments on Mondays.
Describe the costs associated with your care under David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership.
The billing moved from in house to 3rd party mid cycle. I had to battle that transition. In house had a lot of issues clearly conveying cost. 3rd party was a medical billing company.
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Partnership?
Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
The doctor forgot to tell the coordinator to start my transfer cycle. I called to scheduled the transfer and they informed me I didn't have my pre cycle drugs. So I ended up starting a month later than planned.
Dr. Simckes was the first doctor we seen who wasn't all about making money. He was making a living of course but he was offering lower cost treatments... He keeps it interesting & fun. He always told us when we should be concerned or if there was no reason to be. And for our case, each time he was completely spot on.
As patients the staff [at Fertility Partnership] were very kind & knew us individually every time we went in. Our main nurse as well as Dr. Simckes were warm & outgoing... There were also a few times where we were told about our protocol but because no one had sat down to discuss the details of our upcoming cycle together, we were getting conflicting information.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Towards us, Dr Simckes was always positive & upbeat. He definitely likes to chat with you, tell jokes, & even sing on occasion! He keeps it interesting & fun.
He always told us when we should be concerned or if there was no reason to be. And for our case, each time he was completely spot on.
I will say since he spends so much time with each patient there were plenty of appointments we waited long periods of time. As a waiting patient it's definitely an inconvience but once it's your turn you appreciate the time he's taking with you.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
You know your body so don't be afraid to ask questions regarding it. With any case gather your own medical information beforehand & discuss alternative treatments/procedures. You are your own advocate.

Dr. Simckes was the first doctor we seen who wasn't all about making money. He was making a living of course but he was offering lower cost treatments.
We had lost hope by the time we heard of him but after speaking with him just over the phone we started seeing possibilities again. We knew we had to try once more using him as our doctor.
As patients the staff were very kind & knew us individually every time we went in. Our main nurse as well as Dr. Simckes were warm & outgoing. They were people we could see ourselves getting together with outside of the office; people we could have as personal friends.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Shawnie)
They were laid back & very involved
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Partnership?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
We had a situation where paperwork we faxed 2 times was not given to the lab either time. There were also a few times where we were told about our protocol but because no one had sat down to discuss the details of our upcoming cycle together, we were getting conflicting information. It was easily worked out but goes back to our lrior advice of be your own advocate & don't be afraid to speak up.
[Dr. Simckes is] Very hands on and personable. He acknowledged the fact that I had done a lot of research. Was upfront with statistics but didn’t refuse treatment. He has a quirky personality so if you are easily offended you might feel offended. But he is brilliant and so kind...He isn’t afraid to think outside of the box and this is the reason I have my miracle baby...he keeps costs down as well.
Overall staff is great [at Fertility Partnership]...Very personable staff, clean and inviting environment. Friendly and knowledgeable doctor and staff. It is clear they care about the patients. Recently heard they expanded. Keep costs down and most importantly take the time to talk and educate their patients. Even if I had t had success I would be giving great reviews as I felt like a human here instead of a number.

Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
I can’t rember the exact protocol but I know that between my first and second cycles it was tweaked slightly. I also had surgery between the two protocols. Dr. Simckes really studied my history and my specific case to make decisions for my treatment. I had a chemical pregnancy on my first cycle with him and had a healthy Singleton birth with the second cycle. Unfortunately I never had anything to freeze.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Partnership. (Assigned nurse: Shawnee Hurt)
Overall staff is great. My coordinator was also very hands on and gave suggestions that resulted in succe. She had a bit of an attitude but her suggestions got results. She is no longer at this clinic but is working elsewhere as a fertility coordinator.

Lowest cost in our area but that did not factor into our reason for there.
Describe David Simckes (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Partnership.
I always transferred multiple embryos due to my advanced maternal age and the fact that my egg quality was low.
The doctor made us feel very cared for. He explained thoroughly and we felt that his knowledge base was excellent. The worst thing I can say is that he had a tendency to run late but by the time he was done with us We always felt it was worth the wait
I was able to email or telephone or text my coordinator [at Fertility Partnership]. I had responses in real time...We initially chose to go to this clinic because of a personal recommendation of a friend who was successful but also because of their stated goal to reduce costs. Our entire bill for IVF including medications was under $13,000

Fertility Partnership is the place to go if you want to be treated with compassion and expertise. You might have to be a bit forgiving about lateness but that's not every visit

He took his time with us, he used humor to calm us down
He asked questions about who we were and we felt like he actually cared.

After failed iuis The doctor recommended IVF as the next course of action. My wife got birth-control pills, gave her and self injections for approximately 10 days and then she underwent the retrieval of the eggs
I remember she used two kinds of stimulating drugs, one in the morning and one in the evening. And she got an injection to "ripen" the eggs for retrieval. Not all the eggs were mature but we still managed to get seven good embryos and have five frozen remaining.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Partnership.
There was one time where waited for the results of the thyroid test but it was not in cycle and it was not the IVF team per se. We just had to call a couple of times before we got a return from the nurse
He [Dr. David Simckes] was also never on time. Like we were the first patient of the day and he was 30 minutes late one time. I also didn't like his answers to my issues (cancelled transfers). The first time he just said to take a few month break before we try again. The next time he told me to go ask a sister to be my gestational carrier (like it would be that easy).
[Fertility Partnership's] Weaknesses: There is only one doctor at this clinic so he has no one on site to really discuss treatment with and get any other opinions. So many people go here and they are never one time. Strengths: it is the cheapest option in the St. Louis region....IUI's were covered under insurance. I believe the IVF was $9k, meds were about $3-4k. A FET was $3k.
How was your experience with David Simckes (OB/GYN) at Fertility Partnership?
Dr. Simckes is very personable, but he also has poor bedside manner. Crude jokes, etc. Just depends on if you can handle it all. He was also never on time. I think by the end of our care there, he knew our story, but then again there are so many people that go there at the beginning he couldn't remember anything about us and we would have to refresh his memory.
Describe the protocols David Simckes (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Fertility Partnership and their degree of success.
After the three IUI's didn't work (did natural, and two with meds), we moved on to IVF. His clinic was a batch clinic - so they would do all their IVF retrievals/transfers during one week of the month. So depending on when your cycle is, you will have to be on X amount of BCP's so that you line up with the timetable. For the IVF, we did follistim, menopur and ganirelix with an ovidrel shot. I got OHSS (retrieved 35 eggs) so no fresh transfer. We had issues getting my lining thick enough for a FET so it was cancelled 3 times. Finally did one transfer and it did not work. In the end, he told me that he didn't know what to do to grow my lining and to consider a gestational carrier. I didn't feel like he did any research or reached out to anyone for help.

Trying to transfer our embryos out of this clinic was tough. I understand all the paperwork that has to be done, but it got lost once and then there is no embryologist on staff, so they had to wait until one of their batch cycles (where they fly someone in town) so that they could coordinate.
Be prepared for a blunt doctor who tells you information with no fluff [with Dr. David Simckes]...I had a five day fresh transfer and it was successful. I am currently 7 months pregnant with a healthy baby boy. I was 37 at the time of transfer. I used my own eggs and my husband's sperm. I took all the vitamins Dr. Simckes recommended...He prefers to only transfer a single embryo if you are under 38. He did let me transfer two, and one did implant...showed he cared about my husband and I situation. He took the time to reassure me and he explained any procedure needed in detailed. I was very happy with his care.
I love that it doesn't feel like you are just a number at this clinic [Fertility Partnership]. They treat each individual like their priority. I would definitely come here again. I will say sometimes the wait time when you get there for an appointment can be long.... Just depends on when you schedule it for...Denise [nurse] is AMAZING! She answered all my questions during IVF no matter what time I text her...IVF was about $8,500 with some cost. Medication was $2,400...I had a Hysto D&C to remove polyps in April 2019. I then started my IVF cycle in September. I had a five day fresh transfer and it was successful. I am currently 7 months pregnant with a healthy baby boy. I was 37 at the time of transfer. I thought that he [Dr. Simckes] was very very comfortable to talk to and be open with about our situation and he made us feel at ease. He very perfessional yet not stuffy and explain things in terms which we could understand. He never made us feel like there was something wrong with us, which is my struggle personally I felt like I was damaged in some way, but he was very reassuring that all of our concerns were very common and normal for couples dealing with infertility.
Strengths I would is the friendly and approachable manner in which they [Fertility Partnership] interact with there patients weaknesses I would say is tring to schedule appointments around there busy schedule as well as your own schedule... [Nursing Staff] They were always very helpful and kind in trying to figure out appointments and procedures that would work around your schedule... Everyone has been very kind and seems very invested in our family

Do not really know yet still in the process of everything
I think they may have a few too many patients and he [Dr. David Simckes] definitely has 1000 things on his mind at once. I have always felt welcomed and not like a hassle...From my first appointment on I have been in constant contact with Dr. Simckes and his staff. My first appointment Dr. Simckes spent a good 2 hours answering all of my questions. He made sure I was comfortable during all of my tests and even made jokes to ease the awakwardness. He listened to what I was concerned about and taking action on my thoughts. I’m not following a basic protocol and I feel like my treatment is tailored to me.
The first day I arrived the front desk staff [at Fertility Partnership] mixed up my file with someone else’s. All of our medical records were mixed together & I had to tell them that they had the wrong file. I think that was my most unimpressed moment with this clinic...they [nurses] have a lot on their plate but they always make sure I have what I need...My husband has still yet to take a SA analysis at this clinic. He has done them in the past but never here. We were supposed to do one the first visit but the text was never ordered
