what I appreciate most about Dr. Hobeika is that when something doesn’t work he’ll make a change...I’ve never had issues getting in touch with him. I hate that I have to go to river north [Fertility Centers of Illinois] on the weekends for bloodwork, it feels like there is a better way. I don’t mind going to river north for retrieval and transfer but monitoring it’s annoying... I assumed when I got a huge box of meds someone would have told me like hey if you are running low you need to order refills - I didn’t and I didn’t know that. My next nurse was fine, but I never saw her and never spoke to her it was all via the portal - this is tough to get any connection...
How was your experience with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I’ve read a number of reviews on doctors and their protocols, however what I appreciate most about Dr. Hobeika is that when something doesn’t work he’ll make a change. Not all the changes suddenly made a difference but he will continue to make adjustments to treatments for the individual. He also understands when you say “do I really need to do that test again, because we did it twice this year” he’ll say the reasons you should but will let you decline if you choose (specifically I hate the saline). Dr. Hobeika will call me to discuss if my cycle is doing something funny or if he’s thinking we should cancel the retrieval, etc. I also can tell my nurse I want to get a message to him or talk to him and they’ll make it happen. I’ve never had issues getting in touch with him. He’s compassionate, smart and willing to discuss things.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Ask all the questions that you have, if he doesn’t know the answer he’ll call you back with it. If you don’t like something happen that he isn’t aware of, tell him, I.e. nurses, staff, etc.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
After my first cycle, I experienced turnover with my nurses and expressed extreme frustration to Dr Hobeika. Since then he’s told me to reach out to him, or tell my nurse I want to speak to him. He’s held true to that promise time and time again and I am truly appreciative.
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
1) standard protocol for unexplained female infertility (Gonal F + menopur + HCG trigger) I had a poor response, few eggs with the retrieval, day 3 transfer unsuccessful
2) lupron cycle, I felt awful and it was another poor response- at this point it was clear it’s not the meds but that I’m just a poor responder at 34, no retrieval
3) Gonal F + Menopur + Omnitrope + HCG trigger = resulted in my son
4) Gonal F + Menopur + Omnitrope + HCG trigger = resulted in miscarriage, d&c
5) Gonal F + Menopur + Omnitrope + HCG trigger = cancel due to poor response
6) Gonal F + Menopur + Omnitrope + HCG trigger = resulted in chemical pregnancy
7) ) Gonal F + Menopur + Omnitrope + HCG trigger = resulted in chemical pregnancy
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Bevin, Sandra, Paige)
I struggle to write this because I’ve had many different nurses.
1 nurse is no longer there and she wasn’t great, I was not a fan of her super cheery demeanor when giving me bad news. Also, I assumed when I got a huge box of meds someone would have told me like hey if you are running low you need to order refills - I didn’t and I didn’t know that.
My next nurse was fine, but I never saw her and never spoke to her it was all via the portal - this is tough to get any connection
My latest nurse is Paige I’ve had her for a few cycles, she calls when necessary but emails most info, this works for me, but keep in mind I’ve done it a lot now.

I hate that I have to go to river north on the weekends for bloodwork, it feels like there is a better way. I don’t mind going to river north for retrieval and transfer but monitoring it’s annoying.
One time I got a financial hold, because they said they didn’t have my credit card for embryo freezing 1) in 7 cycles I’ve frozen once 2) they had my credit from the last cycle less than 45 days before — which was confirmed when I talked to the financial coordinator
That’s one of those things where there’s a process that probably works 90% of the time but before putting a cycle on hold maybe look at the details
There is a new checkin process from your phone that I like, I like the Tinley staff now that they are consistent up front and in back. All the Tinley phlebotomists have always been great (Weekend ones aren’t so great- but I know they rotate so hard to give that feedback without specifics)
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I have really good insurance, it was my deductible of $2k
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
As a poor responder and a 3 day transfer he allowed me to do 2 embryo transfers 2 times. On the second I was pregnant with twins until week 24, he’s since advised we only transfer 1 since my still birth of 1 is unexplained. The last cycle he agreed to 2 embryo transfer but I only had 1 to transfer.
Dr. Hobeika took what ever amount of time that was necessary in order for me and my husband to understand each step of this process...I trusted him completely! He made me feel so comfortable under his care and I trusted the process. From our initial consult, I felt confident he would be able to help us conceive in whatever way was necessary...I appreciated Dr. Hobeika's honest and data driven advice to me and my husband. He suggested a fresh transfer if my body was responding well and a single embryo. I felt I didn't need to ask questions or felt uncomfortable with his advice at all. I am so glad we trusted him!
I believe this clinic [Fertility Centers of Illinois] is organized, knowledgeable and trustworthy. I don't believe I saw any weaknesses during my treatment. I also believe I went into this process very scared and nervous and my expectations were at a low after struggling for 2 years to get pregnant so I had to put my trust in someone else and I am so glad we did...[nurse] Paige is the absolute BEST! She was my main point of contact and I will FOREVER be grateful for her. She answered all my questions, big or small, and never made me feel like I was lost when at times I did feel overwhelmed.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I would advise someone to start sooner than later and to trust your team. Dr. Hobeika and his team always kept me informed on next steps and really took this process one day at a time.

Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
With the help of Dr. Hobeika, my husband and I decided to jump right into an IVF cycle. We used stimulation medication for 2 weeks and was closely monitored through ultrasounds, triggered with HCG and had my egg retrieval a day and half after that injection. The egg retrieval was done at the River North location and my home base location was Tinley Park so I had a different doctor and nurse and both were amazing! After the retrieval, I was updated each step of the way just as they said I would be. We did a fresh day 5 transfer and Dr. Hobeika was the Dr. in River North that day and was the one who transferred our embryo! We had 4 other embryos make it to the final stage, sent for genetic testing and frozen!

Paige is the absolute BEST! She was my main point of contact and I will FOREVER be grateful for her. She answered all my questions, big or small, and never made me feel like I was lost when at times I did feel overwhelmed. She called in all of my meds, updated me by the end of the day every appointment I went to, messaged me back on portal at record speed. I truly don't know if I would have been able to get through this process without her. She made such an overwhelmed experience so much better. Also, every time I called for an appointment, the front desk accommodated me ASAP. Ashley, the phlebotomist, was the absolute best! She was so knowledgeable and encouraging every time I would sit in her chair (which was a lot). Cathy, the ultrasound tech, is so incredibly good at her job and truly cares about her patients. All around, everyone on Dr. Hobeika's team made this experience amazing for us!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
You are assigned to a financial coordinator and they help with insurance and the billing process. They took care of most of this aspect so I don't have a lot of feedback here, but I guess that is a good thing!
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I can't express how much I appreciated Dr. Hobeika's honest and data driven advice to me and my husband. He suggested a fresh transfer if my body was responding well and a single embryo. I felt I didn't need to ask questions or felt uncomfortable with his advice at all. I am so glad we trusted him!
it was really difficult to get ahold of him [Dr. Hobeika] or someone in his office, so I felt like a very low priority...at one point, I left a voicemail in tears on a Monday and didn't hear from anyone until Friday...I was never told ahead of time what medications I may need in the near future, so I wasn't prepared with Cetrotide when we needed it. Then I only got 2 eggs frozen - I went to another clinic and 2 months later I had 12 eggs. VASTLY different results!!
FCI [Fertility Centers of Illinois] is completely unorganized when it comes to scheduling and intake. Be prepared to be there for 1-2 hours for your daily bloodwork and ultrasound...I had a lot of trouble getting ahold of the nurse, doctor or clinic and get their assistance in ordering medicine...I was never given a medication calendar to understand what meds I may need 2-3 days out - so I was never able to order ahead of time from my pharmacy...
How was your experience with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
I could never get ahold of my nurse or doctor when I needed to (at one point, I left a voicemail in tears on a Monday and didn't hear from anyone until Friday). And I think something was off with the protocol. I was never told ahead of time what medications I may need in the near future, so I wasn't prepared with Cetrotide when we needed it. Then I only got 2 eggs frozen - I went to another clinic and 2 months later I had 12 eggs. VASTLY different results!!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Do not go here for egg freezing, especially if you are paying out of pocket. Go somewhere that will make you a priority and not waste your money, and will be available to answer your questions and fears.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
When I was able to chat face-to-face (virtually) with Dr Hobeika, his bedside manner was great. But it was really difficult to get ahold of him or someone in his office, so I felt like a very low priority. I also felt pretty foolish a few times (e.g., he had promised to follow up with materials and never did - them told me none of his patients asked the detail I was asking for)
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
I had been on birth control for 10-15 years, so I went off of it for about 3-4 months. Then I did 5-6 days of Minivelle/Estradial patches and Cetrotide for priming. A week later, my period started and we began with Menopur and Gonal F. Stimulation lasted 11 days. We kept Menopur at 150 the entire protocol, while the Gonal F we increased from 225 for 3 days, then 300, then 375, then 450 for the last 4 days. I started Cetrotide again on day 8. We triggered with just 10,000 HCG.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Bevin)
I think the nurse is where most of the confusion lays (though I still put the doctor with ultimate responsibility). I was never able to get ahold of her or ask questions - and there were often very hurried and unclear responses about my medication. It is VERY difficult to understand the process the first time through, and I was never given a medication calendar to understand what meds I may need 2-3 days out - so I was never able to order ahead of time from my pharmacy. I was also kicked out of my post-op room way too soon. I was still shivering and sobbing coming down from the anesthesia, and they kicked me out before my doctor even stopped by to check on me or tell me the # of eggs they had retrieved. This almost felt like malpractice - I was left to leave the clinic alone and wait outside for my ride. The next day we had a call to which the doctor said "oh yah, I wondered where you had gone!"
Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
FCI is completely unorganized when it comes to scheduling and intake. Be prepared to be there for 1-2 hours for your daily bloodwork and ultrasound, and don't be surprised if they forget you (about half of the time I had to remind them I was there). It is VERY hard to manage a work schedule around their BW/US appointments as you don't know when you will be out of there. As mentioned previously, it is also very difficult to get ahold of your nurse or someone on your team to answer any questions you may have about your treatment or protocol.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I had a lot of trouble getting ahold of the nurse, doctor or clinic and get their assistance in ordering medicine. I was told late in the evening one day that I actually should have started Cetrotide earlier that day, yet I had none left in my medicine supply (I had never been told I would start Cetrotide in the protocol - I had used all 4 doses the pharmacy gave me in the priming. Worth noting the pharmacy was VERY surprised to hear I had used Cetrotide in my priming). Thank goodness a friend had an extra dose of Cetrotide so I could use that and get my medication delivered the next day - otherwise I would have missed a day of meds due to the unorganized nurse.
Dr. Hobeika was wonderful to work with and we would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with infertility! He is very knowledgeable, honest and empathetic. His response times were extremely quick and often times he would personally call or email (even on nights and weekends!)...He recommended for my age and health, 1 embryo was best...He took the time to make sure we understood everything and would ask for our opinions, but also offer his professional guidance on what he recommends.
Overall I'm very happy with FCI (they gave me one daughter and I have another one on the way, so I will be forever grateful!!) and I did like how relatively easy it was to get appointments when I needed them to accomodate my schedule. I will say not all employees of FCI are of the same caliber. For example, my first two nurses were amazing, but my third nurse was ok. My first doctor was nice (& got me pregnant) but I had zero interaction with her, my second doctor was horrible and my third doctor (Dr. H) was amazing

No advice- just know you have the best doctor and you're in great hands!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika is an amazing doctor that went above and beyond our expectations. He took the time to personally call and email (with very quick response times!) when I had questions, which no other doctor had done before. He was knowledgeable, empathetic and honest which we very much appreciated. We could not have been happier with our experience with him.
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
We used Follistim/Menopur/HCG trigger for first egg retrieval. Got 9 eggs, 6 mature/fertilized via ICSI, ended with 2 embryos on day 5. We did a fresh transfer of one embryo, and tested and froze the second embryo. Fresh transfer did not stick. Frozen embryo came back normal, we transferred that one using the protocol where we use medications but still relied on my body to respond and produce hormones. I believe we used Follistim, Menopur, Ganirelix prior to transfer, and PIO shots, crinone, estradiol tablets and patches post transfer. This transfer also did not stick. We then did a second egg retrieval using similar protocol but added birth control and lupron and also waited an extra day to do the retrieval. It resulted in 23 eggs, 16 mature, 8 fertilized normally via ICSI, 1 embryo made it to day 6. That embryo was tested and froze, came back normal, so we did a transfer using a completely medicated cycle where we did not rely on my body to respond or produce anything. After transfer support was the same. This is the transfer that stuck, I am currently 11 weeks pregnant! (note medications/protocol were to the best of my knowledge/memory!)

Michelle was very nice and pleasant to work with, she just wasn't as quick to respond as Dr. H.

Same with office personnel- some receptionists, ultrasounds techs, phlebotomists were super warm and friendly, some were not. So in that area, I would say they are inconsistent, but the good people made up for the ones that were just ok!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
There were a few times I didn't hear back from my nurse in a timely fashion to get results or get meds called in (all ended fine and I was able to get my meds on time, but we did cut it close a time or two)
We had gone to see him [Dr. Hobeika] for a second opinion...It was definitely the smartest decision that we had ever made switching over to him. He does take his time to answer each and every question...Dr. Hobeika is detail oriented which is exactly what you'd want out of a fertility specialist...Dr. Hobeika did inform me that since I am <35yrs old, that the guidelines do recommend eSET vs multiple embryo transfer.
Initially had a primary nurse assigned (Shannon), but ended up communicating with the rest of the nursing staff [at Fertility Centers of Illinois], all of whom were great!...Both locations are very busy. Sometimes it was difficult to get an appointment based on my work schedule, which is understandable. The staff at both locations is very nice & they did try to work with me in order to make these appointments for blood work & US scans feasible....
How was your experience with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika is absolutely wonderful, to say the least. We had gone to see him for a second opinion (after my initial fertility specialist in Milwaukee had informed us that I would need surgery to remove BOTH of my fallopian tubes after an HSG procedure). Dr. Hobeika made sure to repeat the HSG and he was the one that was performing it so he knew exactly what to look for). He informed me that NO I did not have to remove EITHER fallopian tube. Definitely made a difference in my life, without a doubt! It was definitely the smartest decision that we had ever made switching over to him. He does take his time to answer each and every question and address any concerns that we had. From the time that we had initially met him for our consult, I felt at ease. He was great at explaining every step of the process! Dr. Hobeika is detail oriented which is exactly what you'd want out of a fertility specialist. Would definitely go back to him in a heartbeat and I would definitely highly recommend anyone struggling with fertility issues to see Dr. Hobeika!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Must see Dr. Hobeika for all of your fertility concerns/fertility journey!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika created a personalized care plan for my husband and I. He was compassionate, honest and took his time to address any of our concerns. We did not feel rushed during our meetings with him. He made sure that we understood the rationale behind his care and decisions. Dr. Hobeika took the time to call us and give us the good news of our positive pregnancy test!
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Dr. Hobeika placed me on Estrogen patches for priming for about 3-4 days. Then, I was on Follistim 300 units daily & Menopur 150mg daily. Went in for follicle growth scans every other day. He ended up adjusting my Follistim dose after a couple of scans and increasing it to 450 units daily due to slow follicle growth. Ended up taking stimulation medications for 14 days. Went in for egg retrieval & ended up with 13 follicles, 9 matured & 9 fertilized with ICSI (to my surprise, given my AMH was on the lower end for my age *I'm 33 and AMH level of 0.69). 1 fresh 5 day blastocyst transfer. 5 made it to day 6 which were frozen; did PGT-A testing & 2 normal euploids. Couldn't be happier! He fine-tuned everything prior to starting the actual stimulation phase. Dr. Hobeika also closely monitored my TSH levels and initiated Levothyroxine & adjusted the dosage as needed based on blood results. All of my other physicians had been telling me that my TSH levels were "fine" for years, despite the levels being >3 for years when in reality levels are supposed to be <2.5 for IVF.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
My husband has UHC. UHC does not cover fertility services. Instead, they have a branch called Progyny. Progyny is great! Out of pocket costs were minimal with Progyny.
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.

Dr Hobeika would call me personally every time I had a problem or question that needed to be addressed right away. He also personally called after every major test result. He really cared...He made clear what my options were, and instead of dictating like most doctors, he compromised with me when I wanted to do something different while still making sure I was on the best and medically sound path
[Fertility Centers of Illinois is] a good office. It’s clean, which is very important. Its easy to find, and also important, I almost never had to wait too long. A lot of my appointments had to be in the morning before work, and I always made it to work on time...She was very good at calling me back, ordering medications, and responding to emergency calls or emails..
How was your experience with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
The thing I liked best about Dr Hobeika was that he listened to me. He made clear what my options were, and instead of dictating like most doctors, he compromised with me when I wanted to do something different while still making sure I was on the best and medically sound path. Although two of my IVF cycles ended in chemical pregnancies due to poor egg quality, Dr Hobeika did not give up and he changed my protocol when needed, and it worked! Now I am pregnant with twins! He was very compassionate and caring. I was supposed to be put with another doctor when I originally called their office, but I lucked out that they put me with Dr Hobeika. I would recommend him to anyone looking for compassion, competence, and hope!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions!

We did 3 rounds of IVF, planning to freeze and genetically test on the last two rounds, but I am unfortunately a poor responder to the medications, have DOR, and we did not receive as many eggs as we wanted. But my last round we decided to transfer the only two that made it without testing. They both implanted and now I am pregnant with twins!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Jasmine and Bevin )
I mostly had Jasmine as my nurse. She was very good at calling me back, ordering medications, and responding to emergency calls or emails. Bevin became my nurse during the third round of IVF, and she has been so wonderful as well! She was in the phone for hours battling insurance for me.

I have insurance so it was not too much out of pocket for me.
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
We did end up transferring two embryos on my third round because I have poor egg quality, and we were hoping at least one of them was viable and would implant. Luckily they both did!
Dr. Hobeika from the start made me feel like a person. He listened to our concerns and questions and talked with me in a manner we could comprehend. Even after I asked if it came to IVF, would I be able to be monitored here and treated at a lower cost clinic out of state, he was very supportive. Ever since our clinic has been closed, he has worked with my Ob-Gyn to ensure I can still get my medications needed and he has called me personally on numerous occasions, just to check up on me. He does what he can to get the best possible scenario for us, even though we cannot continue treatment at the moment.
The entire team work together so that we are seen right away. I am a teacher and need to be in and out to get to work. From the beginning they assured me that they would help that happen. I have never been late once. During Covid-19 they thankfully finished existing cycles, while taking our temperature before entering. Then they closed down the clinic, except for positive pregnancies, which they referred to one of our offices that would remain open for that reason.
How was your experience with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika was very warm and open from the beginning. He had to come to the clinic as a favor because the doctor originally scheduled for my consult fell sick, but now I wouldn't want any other specialist. He was very thorough with my diagnostic information, and the next steps to take, how to figure out finances, and introduced me to my personal nurse. He let every decision be my (and my husband's) own. I would also like to point out he has personally called me on several occasions during this Covid-19 crisis just to make sure we can do all we can from home while treatment has stopped. While the clinic can no longer see me, he has worked with my Ob-Gyn to ensure I receive any medication that could help us conceive at home. It is so very obvious he is in this for all the right reasons, as he is even supportive if my IUI's don't work and I need to be monitored at this clinic while undergoing IVF at a lower cost clinic out of state. He has never made me feel like it's about what I could do for him, but what he could do for me. And that is the type of doctor everyone should have. I feel that God has placed him in our path and I am excited for what is to come!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Don't not be afraid to come with your list of questions. He will answer every one of them, no matter how long they take.

So far I am only in the IUI stage. I have had 2. For each I was monitored with ultrasound and blood work at the beginning of my cycle (to make sure I had follicles and to assess my lining and hormone levels). Then I was on medication to help my eggs mature, followed by another ultrasound and blood work (to see if my lining was thick enough, my eggs were getting mature, and assess my hormone levels again). Each of those ultrasounds were very close to having my eggs matured, so I waa prescribed a trigger shot right away on both cycles. A couple days later I would do my IUI. The ultrasounds and blood work helped them decide to prescribe estrogen in my first cycle, and progesterone in my second. I also switched from Clomid on my first cycle to Letrozole on my second since I had been taking Clomid for 6 months prior. Every detail of my treatment and that of my previous treatments at my Ob-gyn were fully analyzed. Now, while I can no longer go into the clinic, my doctor is working with my Ob-Gyn, to prescribe medicine for me while the clinic is closed, and he also instructed me how to use my left over progesterone since it is likely that I am still low. So even though I am not technically in a monitored treatment cycle, I feel very confident we are doing everything we can at an impossible time.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Jazmyn)
Jazmyn is an excellent nurse. I speak to her the most since she is my liaison with the doctor. Every single appointment I had was followed up by a call from her. Even if I needed to speak to her after hours, she would call me back. I love her!
Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
The front desk is efficient and friendly. The waiting room is clean and inviting. Now they are slowly opening again for diagnostic testing, then higher need patients (IVF's over 40), and then eventually to all IVFs and IUIs possibly in May. I think this is a very sensible approach in considering the needs of patients as well as the health of the wonderful staff. I really don't see any weaknesses.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Since I am newer I haven't received all my bills yet, but mine go through Progyny and they take longer and I pay them directly. So far every statement or EOB I have received has been exactly the out of pocket expenses I expected from my insurance coverage. They have a financial specialist if I ever need an explanation of costs.
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I have not started IVF yet, but he was very respectful of my conservative wish to make only as many embryos as I would be able to have transferred. I do not believe in letting my embryos sit in limbo. He was understanding.
Dr. Hobeika is very warm and personable. He makes sure you completely understand what he is telling you...He gives you several routes you can choose from, gives you the pros and cons of each...He has called me personally to ask how things are going and ask if I have any questions...The only thing I had to do was take a medication to lower my thyroid numbers
[The staff at Fertility Center of Illinois] are very easy to get ahold of because of the patient portal. I have never had a problem making an appointment that was convenient for me...they are straight forward with what they are doing as far as procedures, billing, treatments, etc...They do their best to bill your insurance before billing you...They also have payment plans...All of the nursing staff that I came into contact with were amazing

Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
The only thing I had to do was take a medication to lower my thyroid numbers. He said the number was not in a zone that indicated something was wrong, just that they like the number a little lower for fertility purposes. He also recommended I start taking a Prenatal vitamin and Co-Q10 just to prepare my body.

They are very easy to get ahold of because of the patient portal. I have never had a problem making an appointment that was convenient for me. They even have WiFi available in the waiting room for your convenience.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
They do their best to bill your insurance before billing you. Even with insurance not covering everything, the cost was medium (not cheap, but not overly expensive compared to testing and procedures I have had done in the past). They also have payment plans, so that if you cannot pay your whole bill at once, they will spread it out over 6 months to be able to help you pay.

I’m plagued with ovarian cysts so I had to be monitored closely as I did not respond to the medications the way I should have due to interference from the cyst on my ovary. It wasn’t active at the time of starting stims so we had to adjust our treatment when it began to interfere with the hormones.

When the new nurse was training she incorrectly provided me with instructions to begin medication after the doctor told me that my cycle would be canceled for that month. She quickly realized and called to rectify the situation.
Every dosage that Dr. Hobeika prescribed me he was pretty much on point and never really needed to be changed. I didn't have a bad reaction to any of the medicines or dosages...He explained everything thoroughly for me & my husband to understand. He was always there when I had a question or concern...

Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Going into it we were only going to transfer one embryo but on the day of the transfer my embryos had not yet made it to blastocyt, due to this reason we transferred 2 embryos giving me a 40 percent chance rather than 20.
From our first appointment Dr. Hobeika was eager to ensure that our experience was personalized for us. He was a great communicator and ensured that he was available to answer questions when needed. In addition he made sure to schedule my transfer so that he was physician on shift. He also personally called me to share my pregnancy test results...truly sees the whole patient not just a number. He inquired about our family plans and seemed truly invested in helping us achieve our desired outcomes.
We completed a frozen transfer [at Fertility Centers of Illinois]...I had two primary nurses while at this clinic. We started with one and then moved to another due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.

I went through Ova to do my egg freezing. I went to Highland Park to do my retrieval with Dr. Hobeika and he met with me before and after the retrieval. Very nice and trustworthy. I felt very comfortable sharing how I felt and he didn’t make me feel annoying or silly. He also wasn’t salesy just very genuine...[he] was so nice and met with me beforehand to ease my anxiety. He doesn’t have an ego just very caring and nice
I went through Ova so I didn’t go to this clinic for normal monitoring, only for my retrieval. But the nurses, anesthesiologist and everyone [at Fertility Centers of Illinois] were beyond nice and helpful. The anesthesiologist held my hand until I dozed off and I woke up from my procedure with a heating pad and wrapped up in the blanket I brought with me. They also provide warm blankets. They were very nice, incredible care.

Dr Hobeika was fantastic at helping me to understand the process and exactly what I needed to do. I never felt as though he was rushing me or overlooking something. He took the time to get to know us as a couple. My husband and I both felt very comfortable with Dr Hobeika...Had my transfer almost 2 months after egg retrieval. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant.
The [Fertility Centers of Illinois] clinic is almost always on time, never running slow...Paige was my nurse for Dr Hobeika and she was fantastic. She would always answer any questions I had. It was easy to get in touch with her over the portal and her calendars for the month made following medication protocol easy...If you do not stay on top of your care, you can easily be pushed through. It is important to continue to call, portal message, and call again to make sure you are heard and your needs are met.

Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
I started STIMS of Gonal F and Menopur for 12 days then did my egg retrieval. After egg retrieval we sent our embryos in for PGTA testing. About a little over a month later I started prepping for FET with Lupron then added in Edometrin and Estradiol patches. Once I stopped the Lupron I started with PIO. Had my transfer almost 2 months after egg retrieval. I am currently 10 weeks pregnant.

Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
The clinic is almost always on time, never running slow. During the beginning of my journey I had to call other locations to be able to schedule at Tinley Park. Towards the end of my journey it did seem that it was getting better with communication in the front for scheduling.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
For the most part, I was able to get monitoring appointments scheduled out far enough that I could choose what time I needed due to my work schedule. Now if it was something that was different that instructed like needing to be in the following day, it was hard to find an appointment that would work with my schedule.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
We have PROGYNY insurance which was very beneficial. After switching over to “maternal care” I had to pay copayments for medications. Ranging from $5-$60
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Lost paperwork
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
The only issue I ever had was at the end of my journey, they called me because they were unable to locate my Release of Information form I had just completed. Anything else was never an issue.
Dr. Hobeika is very good at explaining everything and answering all your questions. Although he can talk quickly, he is always happy to answer any questions you may have. I usually didn't have many questions left at the end of our appointments because he answered them before I could even ask them. He is also compassionate and understanding during the process. He always calls personally to give pregnancy test results and when things aren't working, he will make changes to make sure you are receiving the best care for your body....
Sarah [nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois] was amazing and always answered all of my questions. She was very compassionate and incredibly helpful...Monitoring appts were very quick and smoothly run. I was usually in and out in 10-15 mins...Once in a while, it is hard to get through on the phone, but a lot of the time, there is only one person at the desk, so I just call back and they answer later...

Hang in there
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika and all the staff at FCI were incredible helpful and understanding on this journey. Every time I had a question, it was answered in the most compassionate way. You can tell the staff know how hard of a process this is and they are there to help you every step of the way.
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Our diagnosis was unexplained infertility. We tried 4 IUIs with Clomid which were unsuccessful. We did one egg retrieval and got 24 eggs. 23 were fertilized and we got 7 embryos. We did not do genetic testing. Our 3rd transfer was successful and we are at 10 weeks now. I used natural cycles for transfers using Progesterone suppositories vs the injections for each transfer cycle.

Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I wish there was a clinic closer to where I live. I drove about 40 mins each way for each appointment. In the beginning of treatment, I felt like there were a couple of reception staff who were not very kind, but none of them are currently working there anymore. Once in a while, it is hard to get through on the phone, but a lot of the time, there is only one person at the desk, so I just call back and they answer later. Other than that, the entire clinic is incredible. Everyone is compassionate and understands that this is a hard situation, and you're full of emotions and hormones and they treat you kindly.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Monitoring appts were very quick and smoothly run. I was usually in and out in 10-15 mins. My drive to the clinic took longer than my appt.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
My insurance covered almost everything. I would estimate I paid around $2500-$3000 total out of pocket for copays, things that weren't covered, and meds.
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
We used one embryo each time due to my age of 34 and the risk of multiples
From the first time we met with Dr. Hobeika, he seemed pretty straightforward, confident and had a game plan for me. Being over 40, overweight, and having pre-existing medical conditions, there was never a point in which I felt shamed or that he wouldn't be able to proceed with the procedure...he made us understand the risks and possibilities and kept us safe by transferring the appropriate number of embryos for each transfer.
I loved that after my first couple of weeks of appointments, every time I walked in the [Fertility Centers of Illinois] office, the receiptionist(s) would greet me by name. That made me feel so special...Monitoring appointments for me were quick. The staff seemed to stay on track with their appointments and the waiting room was never really full because of their efficiency...I never felt the need to explain what I needed because everyone knew who I was, and the stage of the cycle I was in.

Trust that he and his Team are going to guide you in the right path.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
It started from the front desk receptionists saying hi to me by name when I walked into the office for an appointment. My awesome nurse, Michelle, the Nusing team, ultrasound techs, those who took blood, and even attention to my questions/inquiries in the Portal all the way up to Dr. Hobeika. I never felt the need to explain what I needed because everyone knew who I was, and the stage of the cycle I was in.
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
With my age and recent attempts with my OBGYN using Clomid and its failure, we went directly into IVF. During my process of growing my eggs, Dr. Hobeika and his Team monitored my progress very closely and increased my dosage based on my results. I visited the office at least once or twice a week during this process. I could really tell they were subject matter experts and there was never any changes they made that made me feel uneasy. I felt like through their experiences, they knew exactly how to treat my body.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Michelle)
Anyone that I spoke with on the Nursing team were just as good as Michelle. I appreciate their follow-up calls with results. They were very empathetic and would celebrate any good news. What I most appreciated was their prompt responses on the Portal and their knowledge of my questions, what stage I was in during my cycle, and their professionalism.
Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I loved that after my first couple of weeks of appointments, every time I walked in the office, the receiptionist(s) would greet me by name. That made me feel so special. I wondered if anyone else had that same warm welcome or was it because I've had more appointments than anyone else. It was always so quiet in the waiting rooms. I felt like conversation was not allowed. But then again, I think that since everyone was in such a sensitive environment and you don't know where in the cycle each person is in, it's just best to keep to yourself. Also, the rooms were super small so if you tried to have a conversation, everyone would be able to hear. One thing that made me feel uneasy was that when someone walked in to check in, the receptionist would ask for their name and DOB. Now, for me because I was born in the last 10 days of the 1970's decade, I felt embarrassed to say my year of birth. On one occasion, as I waited for my appointment, there were women who had DOB's that were 10 years younger than I was and I felt like crap. But with their new online check-in system, I don't know if that information is requested anymore.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Monitoring appointments for me were quick. The staff seemed to stay on track with their appointments and the waiting room was never really full because of their efficiency. Also, I've never had any issues with booking times that were convenient for me. But that may be due to my flexible work schedule. My monitoring appointments were always between 7-8:30, by my choice and availability
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I can't recall each individual treatment cost but I've bundled them all together. My health insurance didn't cover a lot of my care so the majority was out of pocket. For 2 cycles, the cost was approximately $45,000.
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Dr. Hobieka educated us thoroughly on this process. If it were up to us, we were looking for twins on our first try so transfer as many embryos as possible. But he made us understand the risks and possibilities and kept us safe by transferring the appropriate number of embryos for each transfer.
Dr. Hobeika made me feel like his only patient...He personally called me, guided me in my fertility and made me feel I had a say in how I wanted things to go. He really took my opinions, worries and notes into concern...Dr. Hobeika was more aggressive on my 2nd egg retrieval vs. my 1st one. With that too and his guidance, I was able to produce a lot more high quality embryos and just in general a lot more embroyos...
the various locations [Fertility Centers of Illinois] were convenient...River North is their busiest office, sometimes overwhelming there. But a bulk of the procedures take place at River North...I was not crazy about having different Drs for egg retrievals and transfers, so just to be aware just because your Dr. is your Dr. doesn't mean that they will be handling you in the procedures. However, I learned along the way, to cater my schedule and office that my Dr was working...
How was your experience with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika is a genuine and caring soul and very upfront about his direction of care with keeping our feeling and opinions and concerns in thought. He goes above and beyond to call you and not just have the nurses always send portal messages and really make you feel comfortable. He has age on his side, I believe he is more up to date with how and when to adjust your care/medicine to get the results on your ends. He is also very positive and is available for any concerns or questions you might have. He has reached out to me nights and weekends when I know he isnt always on call.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Meet in person for your first meeting if you can. You really get to know him when you are in the room with him. No offense to zoom, but this potentially can be a long process and the more you get familiar with any dr. the better.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr. Hobeika made me feel like his only patient. He was my 2nd Dr. after my previous Dr. retired and I was really nervous to switch over to a new Dr. He personally called me, guided me in my fertility and made me feel I had a say in how I wanted things to go. He really took my opinions, worries and notes into concern. He went above and beyond to make me feel like an individual patient with him and took my case very intentional and specific to me.
Describe the protocols Elie Hobeika used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Dr. Hobeika was more aggressive on my 2nd egg retrieval vs. my 1st one. With that too and his guidance, I was able to produce a lot more high quality embryos and just in general a lot more embroyos. I reacted to Dr. Hobeika treatments as he did everything in his power to cater them exactly to how my body was responding.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Centers of Illinois. (Assigned nurse: Sarah )
She was always quick to answer or call if you needed something. She had been through my process through both Drs and always was detailed, organized and provided me with any information needed and answered my billion and two questions every week.
Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Strength-- Large Clinic-Due to my work, I frequented quite a lot of the offices as it worked best, so I bounced between Hoffman, Highland Park, Hinsdale and River North. So the various locations were convenient.
Strength- Lots of appointment times. They opened earlier, could get blood work and ultrasounds at early times prior to work starting.
Weakness- River North is their busiest office, sometimes overwhelming there. But a bulk of the procedures take place at River North.
The team in the offices are great. I had a great support from the inter office team along my process that really helped me get through it.
General Notes- I was not crazy about having different Drs for egg retrievals and transfers, so just to be aware just because your Dr. is your Dr. doesn't mean that they will be handling you in the procedures. However, I learned along the way, to cater my schedule and office that my Dr was working. So he would be performing the items for me as that was something that was important to me and made me feel more comfortable. Plus I think the more time you have in front of your own personal Dr. the better.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Elie Hobeika at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I hit my deductible on my insurance, so all my costs were covered by my insurance plan.
I did have a concern on my 2nd egg retrieval in regards to pricing and my concerns were voiced to my Dr. and he worked with finance to help take care of my concerns.
Looking at my statement of benefits from the insurance, I believe it everything to look fair
Describe Elie Hobeika's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Typical due my age, standard transfer was 1 embryo. It was always discussed each transfer, but Dr. Hobeika recommended it and I followed his guidance.
