How was your experience with Eliran Mor at California Center for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Mor is very knowledgeable. After much research in my years of unexplained infertility, I feel like I understand some, not all, of the medical terminology; if I am not following what he is saying, he will repeat it and sometimes explain it in a different way without even skipping a beat. He remembers me, my chart/history, and my concerns. He will recap previous results and give his recommendation for next steps. As I said previously, when he recommended injectables, I was hesitant and he changed the medication recommendation to fit my comfort, which was oral Clomid. I never felt uncomfortable or embarrassed with him even though I am not used to male doctors. He explains next steps with realistic expectations, which are somewhat low, and yet always leaves with positivity. As a patient, I am glad I chose him for a doctor who was recommended to me by various fellow facebook friends in my facebook groups. His office location is further and convenient, yet I would not change doctors if I don't to.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eliran Mor at California Center for Reproductive Health?
With my recommendation to see Eliran Mor, I would tell that prospective patient to be prepared for some truths. Dr. Mor doesn't sugar coat anything. You will have to appreciate where he's coming from and his reports, analysis, and professional history will determine your chances. He will tell you frankly that your numbers are lower than preferred. He will tell you statistically, that your chances due to your age, or ovarian reserve, or sperm analysis is a low percentage. He wants to help you against all odds though so trust in him and keep hope.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eliran Mor at California Center for Reproductive Health?
Although, the time I've seen Dr. Mor is short during all of my visits, his attention and explanations are thorough. I believe the time is short because he is very precise and works efficiently. During my first consult with him, I came prepared with all of my previous medical history pertaining to unexplained fertility including any blood work, ovarian reserve, sperm analysis etc. His one-on-one consult was very direct. He knows his stuff like the back of his hand. Luckily, I had all of the answers to all of his questions about my history and current status and we both seemed to be on the same track as far as the path to take. He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to answer any of my questions and provides facts, studies he has read, and his own professional, historical data. He has given me his thoughts on how to proceed but has not pressured me to agree to it. For example, after the 2nd failed IUI, he provided three medication options during ovulation, oral Clomid, Clomid and injectables, or injectables. I was hesitant about injectables so he allowed me to go with Clomid. I feel very comfortable under his care. He speaks with heart and sincerity and I can feel it through his handshakes too. (Handshakes were only done pre-covid19 times. Now there’s no hand shaking.) I’m ready to proceed to IVF including any medications recommended from him and am confident he will help me reach my goal.
Describe the protocols Eliran Mor used in your cycles at California Center for Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
During the first consultation appointment, we agreed to start fertility treatment with IUI. I was 37 years old with a history of endometriosis. He did offer different routes and told me IUI or IVF was more common. Due to my age and husband's low morphology, he offered IUI or IVF. I was hesitant to start all the medications for IVF so quickly, so we decided to do an IUI. I was in the middle of my cycle and he calculated that I would be ovulating within the next two days. He offered to do an transvaginal ultrasound on the spot and to prepare an appointment for IUI two days later. We redid an STD test and sperm analysis for my husband and STD test for myself prior to IUI day. We were both negative on STDs and husband's analysis showed healthy yet low morphology. This IUI was successful and resulted in baby. I did not see him again and started to see my obgyn until the loss of my baby at 19.5 weeks gestation.
I returned to see Dr. Mor several months after the loss and he had been in communication with my OBGYN since the loss. They were trying to determine if it was a chromosomal issue or other. Since I did not have an autopsy done, it was not determined but due to my family medical history, it was likely a rare occurrence and not due to genetics. We proceeded with another IUI, since the first was successful. The first ultrasound was done one day 2 or 3 of my cycle to check for cysts and determine a baseline. He also counts the follicles on both ovaries. One week later, around day 10 of my cycle, I see him again for another ultrasound. He counts the number of mature follicles and gives instructions for timed intercourse at home. Three days later, around cycle day 13, was the IUI date. After the sperm wash, the fresh sample had 17,000 mobile sperm. Dr instructed timed intercourse that evening. I did blood test to test my progesterone level seven days later. The results were lower than he preferred and prescribed progesterone to be taken vaginally, twice a day, until I receive a negative pregnancy test. I did receive a negative pregnancy test and was instructed to call with my next cycle.
The following month was my third IUI. It was the same protocol, with trans-vaginal ultrasound at cycle day 2 but this time we agreed to Clomid. He had given me choices of oral Clomid, Clomid with injectibles, or injectibles. He explained that the more aggressive, the medications, the better the outcome for mature follicles hence higher chance of conceiving on of the multiples eggs produced. I opted for Clomid only because I was hesitant about the aggressive injectible medication. I started a five day prescription of 100mgs/day of Clomid and had timed intercourse the day after. I was to do a HCG trigger shot in my abdomen 36 hours before the IUI. The IUI was on cycle day 13 and just as a precautionary measure, was taking progesterone vaginally until a negative pregnancy test. Due to my low progesterone count during the last cycle, we just did this as precaution. This IUI failed and I had negative pregnancy test.
Last month was my fourth IUI. It was the same procedure and protocol with the same Clomid Rx, trigger shot Rx, and progesterone Rx. It resulted in a negative pregnancy test.
This current cycle, I saw the Dr. for a baseline and he prescribed Clomid at 150mg/day for 5 days unmonitored. We will try at home this cycle and wait for our chance at IVF. His office is allowed to conduct business for all those in the middle of their treatments and those who are at high risk.
We have been trying since 2017. Our next step in fertility treatments is IVF in hopes that I can deliver a baby before I turn 40.
Describe your experience with your nurse at California Center for Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Gabby)
There are two nurses who know me and my chart. One is named Gabby and the other I cannot remember. They know my chart and can answer most of my questions pertaining to treatment when I call. The nurses and front desk staff are all very welcoming and professional. I've never been late to an appointment and though the Dr. may run a little last sometimes, the nurse usually preps me on time for the appointment. Gabby is caring and explains things well. Beatrice at the front desk is familiar with me and my name and has checked me in for appointment at sight.
Describe your experience with California Center for Reproductive Health.
Weaknesses: This clinic was recommended by fellow mamas in my facebook group. CCRH's website and google search says they have a Valencia, CA office however the Dr. is rarely there. When I first picked a doctor to seek, I based it off of convenience as well and that Valencia office would've been very convenient for me. That office is very misleading and I have to travel further to his main office for every appointment.
I would love to keep in contact with direct questions and answers with the doctor via or app messages, like I have with my previous OBGYNs, however they do not have this option. I can relay questions to the nurses's voicemail and they will get back to me.
The costs from this office seems on the higher end of other clinic's price lists with no financial assistance.
The professional building that the office is in charges for parking.
Strengths: The welcoming staff and clean clinic makes for a comfortable appointment.
The second doctor on staff, Dr. Woo, is younger and Chinese. I believe they get a lot of Chinese speaking customers due to this second doctor, which is very smart for business. I saw her once for a cycle day 2 ultrasound and she was knowledgeable and very personable. I felt very comfortable with her as well.
They take credit card which a much needed assistance.
Dr. Mor is very widely known within my facebook mama group.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Eliran Mor at California Center for Reproductive Health.
The cost for initial consultation is $325. Water ultrasound $450. Ultrasound $235. IUI $525. IVF approx. $23,000 including medication.
Each IUI cycle was two ultrasounds and IUI cost. Including prescribed medications of clomid and progesterone and HCG trigger shot, was around $1,200. Medications were prescribed but not purchased from this office. Prescriptions were distributed and paid for my pharmacies.
Describe Eliran Mor's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at California Center for Reproductive Health.
Dr. Mor said with the medication, he is hoping to harvest eight eggs, of those fertilize four of them. After genetic testing, I will have two left for transfer IF it makes it past day 5.
I liked that Dr Mor performed all the procedures himself... As a plus sized woman I am used to being treated based on my weight, but Dr Mor treated the problem, not the number on the scale...I found Dr Mor to be a smart and skilled physician. He is up to date with research and uses a data-driven approach, although his intuition and experience are also top notch. He takes time to answer questions thoroughly and isn't annoyed by input or having to explain complicated things to someone without a medical degree.
I found the nurses [at CA CRH) to be a little disorganized and forgetful. They would sometimes forget to add a medication to a prescription order, didn't get bloodwork in on time so that I had to be re-tested...It is difficult to review the clinic as separate from Dr Mor because it feels as if they are one and the same due to the personalized attention I received. I was never passed onto another doctor or even nurse or technician and I really appreciated the one-on-one treatment due to the sensitive nature of this treatment.

He takes time to answer questions thoroughly and isn't annoyed by input or having to explain complicated things to someone without a medical degree. He is also a kind and compassionate human being who really seems to understand the heartbreak and yearning associated with this journey. He showed us such generosity and warmth when we explained our financial limitations and helped us find options that worked for us. We are working on our second with him and he seems as invested in us getting pregnant as we are. I cannot put into words the gratitude and comfort I feel having such an excellent doctor on our side--and that's how it feels, like he is on our side. I have a pretty significant fear of all these procedures and Dr Mor provides reassurance and instills confidence. We only had to do iuis to conceive our first, but have had to move on to IVF this time. There is literally no one else I would trust to do my egg retrieval. I have always appreciated that when I have had to call him after-hours, he calls back promptly and personally. It is very difficult to go back to "ordinary" doctors after experiencing such a high level of care and wish we could have continued in his care until the delivery of our baby.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at California Center for Reproductive Health.
Honestly, this is the one downside of this clinic. I found the nurses to be a little disorganized and forgetful. They would sometimes forget to add a medication to a prescription order, didn't get bloodwork in on time so that I had to be re-tested, and a few things like that. Luckily I'm pretty on top of things, so this didn't bother me as much as it might have otherwise. Also, I found Gaby and Erika in particular lacking the warmth and friendliness you would hope for with so many visits and such an emotional/sensitive issue. The nurse Jessie is the one exception, as I find her warm and caring. Baylee is somewhere in the middle. None of this would stop me from recommending this clinic to anyone from my best friend to a stranger on the street. We are all just humans and anyone can find something to criticize if they look hard enough. I did like how they were always available to answer questions, were willing to get back to you if they needed to consult with the doctor first, and were prompt to call back at the times when they weren't available.
Describe your experience with California Center for Reproductive Health.

I was never passed onto another doctor or even nurse or technician and I really appreciated the one-on-one treatment due to the sensitive nature of this treatment. I never had to worry if a doctor had forgotten who I was or hadn't read my file because it was always Dr Mor. This is a significant reason I would not go to anyone else to deal with infertility.
What specific things went wrong at California Center for Reproductive Health?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at California Center for Reproductive Health.
As I stated before, I have had to remind nurses to call in prescriptions or had the pharmacist call to order a med they forgot to put on the prescription. During our journey to have our first they forgot to call me with blood test results, but I wasn't one to wait, so I didn't mind calling them. Also I had to have blood drawn twice for one test because my sample wasn't sent in to the lab on time (it was time sensitive). Honestly, during this second journey--maybe because there are more nurses and they aren't as overwhelmed, but that's just a guess--they seem better about calling with results and being responsive and on top of things.
Ask questions. Dr Mor will always make time to answer them. He never makes you feel like your questions are silly... has an amazing bedside manner. He takes your losses personally and celebrates your victory’s right alongside you. His clinic is so busy but he never rushes you and he remembers details about your case from years back...Flare protocol both times. Lupron, Follistim, Menopur. The first round I had 10 eggs retrieved. One normal embryo, which produced my daughter. Second round same protocol, 7 mature eggs, 3 embryos, one normal. This round did not result in pregnancy.

[Dr. Eliran Mor] takes the time to listen and to provide complete explanations. He is kind and affirming but also realistic...super knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I always felt like he knew what he was doing and I trust him completely. I always felt like he had my best interest in mind. Even though I have not yet been successful, I remain hopeful under his care...I think the protocols Dr. Mor prescribed for IUI, retrivals and transfer were all pretty standard.

The new clinic is clean, spacious, well-appointed, well-equipped, and comfortable. The staff is great and I always felt good about the care I recieved there...They [nurses] are all excellent. Jessie is my favorite, but they are all knowledgeable, helpful, compassionate and kind... when I compared the costs online, they seemed reasonable.

I only had one viable embryo to work with so this was not an issue in my case.

They take the time to explain the medications, which I really appreciate. They write everything out on paper, so that its easy to remember once you get home as well!... Parking at the Encino clinic is rough! If you park in the lot, you have to pay around $8 (at least!) + tip for the valet! I always try to find street parking, but there aren't too many spots available.
