I appreciate that [Dr. Erika Munch] took my concerns about the risks of multiples seriously and didn't push me to escalate things before I was ready...always had a very calm demeanor and explained my options clearly...5 unmedicated IUI's (4 with a trigger) and 1 IUI (with 5 mg of Letrozole)
[At Texas Fertility Center] you feel like you are the only patient. It doesn't feel as busy as the Austin branch. I think it is good they got a new doctor for the location...Alyssa, Chelsea, and Hannah were all wonderful. They often answered the phone when I called, and if not, they would call back pretty soon
How was your experience with Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I am so grateful to have gotten pregnant by IUI at age 39 with Dr. Munch. It took 6 tries. I did 5 unmedicated IUI's and then my first medicated IUI (w/ letrozole) worked. If I had listened to Dr. Munch about trying a medicated IUI sooner, I probably would have been pregnant sooner! But I appreciate that she took my concerns about the risks of multiples seriously and didn't push me to escalate things before I was ready. Overall, Dr. Munch always had a very calm demeanor and explained my options clearly. It felt like she was invested in the success of her patients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I would recommend trusting her expertise.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
She listened to any concerns I had, and it was clear her advice was best on what she thought was medically in my best interest rather than any financial concern. She provided the odds of success for different paths without pushing a particular one.
Describe the protocols Erika Munch used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Alyssa, Chelsea, and Hannah were all wonderful. They often answered the phone when I called, and if not, they would call back pretty soon. I was pretty open about my anxieties and even neuroses about the process, and they responded in a caring and appropriate way. I forget if it was Chelsea or Hannah but one of them used the phrase, "you are one driving the car," and I think that that approach sums up the attitude of everyone at this clinic - that they will help the patient, but the patient is in the driver's seat, making the decisions. I am impressed that they were able to be helpful while allowing us that autonomy.
Describe your experience with Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
As others have said, you feel like you are the only patient. It doesn't feel as busy as the Austin branch. I think it is good they got a new doctor for the location. Maybe it is just me, but it's sort of nice to be able to chat with multiple doctors about what is going on.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
My insurance covered most of it. Overall, I had the feeling that Dr. Munch was doing only the testing that was truly needed. In fact, sometimes I asked her for an extra blood test or ultrasound (mostly due to my own anxiety).

How was your experience with Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Munch is compassionate with her care, thorough in her explanations and ensures that you understand what is happening every step of the way. She is honest at every visit as well as caring about our feelings and where we stand. She is the first doctor that has not not judged us and she looks at all results and history before making a plan to move forward. Infertility and failed cycles are discouraging but Dr. Munch is great at helping you through it and offers many options.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
You will feel comfortable knowing that Dr. Munch will give you all the information needed and will work with you every step of the way.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Erika Munch at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Munch is very thorough and compassionate, I for the first time did not feel like I was being judged. She truly cares for her patients and has there best interest in mind.
Describe the protocols Erika Munch used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For our egg retrieval cycle I used gonal f injectables to begin and then later incorporated menopur. Cetrotide was later added and then a combination of Lupron and ovidrel prior to retrieval. Egg retrieval went well she retrieved 28, of the 28, 20 fertilized and 11 made it in the end. For 5 day frozen transfer I took estradiol 2mg (2 two times a day) for the first week and (2 three times a day) for the second week and then after we were cleared with my ultrasound I started progesterone in oil injections 5 days before transfer. Transfer went well but it unfortunately did not take, we were Dr. Munch’s last patients to go through transfer before they were all cancelled due to COVID-19. Due to COVID-19 we are unable to start another transfer so we are doing ERA testing (Endometrial Receptivity Analysis).
Describe your experience with your nurse at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Hannah Novosad)
Hannah has done a wonderful job explaining every step along the way as well as keeping us informed and just making the entire process easier.
Describe your experience with Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
This clinic had a smooth process in transitioning from one clinic to another. Everyone communicates well and lets you know everything that you need to know from procedures to billing. Everyone is professional and compassionate.
Describe Erika Munch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Since it was our first time doing a transfer and we are both 30 years old we could only transfer one embryo for our first time. We are able to transfer 2 the second time if we want.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Munch is the 4th RE I have seen. I came to her frustrated by how I was treated and how care was managed else where. She was kind and answered all my questions, easing any anxieties I had. She didn’t talk down to me or dismiss my suggestions or inquires. She is super smart and knows her stuff. So far what she predicted or estimated for me as far as outcomes has been spot on. She moves swiftly with treatment and is always very professional. She is also very efficient with time, yet I never feel rushed by her. I Highly recommend her...Go see her, you won’t be disappointed.
She [nurse at Texas Fertility Center] is organized, kind, compassionate, efficient and very responsive to calls and emails. So lucky to have her through this process...May be on the more pricey side, no fixed packages. It is all a la carte so you pay for each US, blood draw, the lab, the anesthesia, the doctor, the surgery center, medications etc separately and directly to the source on your own...It’s one doctor, which I find better than the team approach at other clinics. But, this can mean rescheduling due to emergencies. They know your name when you walk in or call. There are not many weaknesses, but you should know that there aren’t any treatment plans or programs offered it is all a la carts pricing and this can be daunting.

Dr. Munch and her nurse are very personable and patient. They take their time and her treatment of me seemed tailored to me personally. Front desk staff is good, but there could be some improvement in terms of humanness there. Still, I have never felt like I was in a factory-as I did with a different clinic in town
Describe the protocols Erika Munch used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have pcos so she used an antagonist protocol. I took bcp for about two weeks and used a hybrid trigger Of Lupron and hcg. She took every approach to help avoid ohss but I did still end up with it a little. Her strategy was to get as many eggs as possible, which ended up being 35 and they were all mature, 34 fertilized. She does not order many blood labs, which I thought was strange at first but so far it has not proved to be an issue so I am trusting her methods. She also did ultrasounds less than I expected.

The strength of TFC-San Antonio is the personalized attention and care you get. It’s one doctor, which I find better than the team approach at other clinics. It is all a la carte so you pay for each US, blood draw, the lab, the anesthesia, the doctor, the surgery center, medications etc separately and directly to the source on your own. Ivf with pgs testing was 20k in total, but this is very specific to the individual. FET 3-4K
Describe Erika Munch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Very strong preference for single egg transfer. This did not bother me, but might be an issue for some. She is adamant on this.

She [Dr. Munch] is honest and straightforward and all business. She is an expert in her field. She’s not one for chit chat or pleasantries but she gets the job Done...All the treatment was tailored and my feedback was taken seriously. I never felt the doctor didn’t recall my info- felt like I was the only patient...two natural cycle iuis, two clomid iuis, two iuis with injectables and THEN IVF (one round, with one good pgt-tested embryo which led to a baby)...
Clinic [Texas Fertility Center] was almost always running behind schedule. Clinic is nice, clean, professional. Staff is friendly and professional. Up to date technologies. They have a long closure for lunch which can make phone communication difficult...Hannah [nurse] got to know us well and was speedy with returning email communication. She even gave me an injection when my wife was out of town. She was friendly and professional...

We've only met Dr Munch a few times, because we are just starting our fertility journey, but so far everything has been good. We were not rushed during our visit with her. She ordered tons of labs and some test and we discussed our game plan based on these results. Very nice lady...Doctor Munch spends a good amount of time with you during your appointment. You do not feel rushed or overlooked.
Just started working with them [Texas Fertility Center]. But, so far everything has been good. She responds to phone calls and emails in a timely manner, which is greatly appreciated...We are just starting our fertility journey. We've completed diagnostics stuff and are moving forward at the moment (next few weeks). A plus has been that they work with financiers for those that don't have fertility coverage and charge your insurance what they can. A weakness is having to go to Austin during part of upcoming treatment.

Dr. Munch broke down all the options available based on my diagnosis. She explained her reasoning behind prescriptions and procedures. She really took the time to make sure we understood each time we were in her office. Our first IUI with her resulted in a pregnancy....Dr. Munch was very clear on her plans for us and her reasoning behind every decision. She gave us best case scenario for the highest probability of a successful pregnancy. Her goal is to get you pregnant and not suck the money out of you.
The wait time [Texas Fertility Center] were sometimes long at the end of the day but it could also be from other patients appointments running longer than anticipated. They helped me shop around for the best pricing on medications as well. When I walked out of my appointment, they were prepared with my paperwork. It is not a huge staff so I am pretty familiar with the faces in the office....I had most of my interaction with Dr. Munch, but the nurses had a system that worked great.

Dr. Munch is compassionate, a good listener, up to date on most recent research, and always explains things thoroughly. She cares about you before, during and after treatment. She even asked for us to come back and visit with our miracle baby. She let us start with treatment in the manner that we wanted and was very optimistic despite our grim diagnosis.
The only con that we found with this clinic [Texas Fertility Center of San Antonio] was the paperwork routine seemed a little disorganized. There were no copies of paper work given to us so it was at times difficult to remember what we had discussed or certain protocols..... $10,000 for 3 rounds of IUI and 3 medicated times intercourse cycles.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
[Dr. Erika Munch] was very nice, and warm. I felt like a part of the team in comparison to just another person getting the normal speech. We reviewed options, treatments...referred to a hematologist, which wasnt done at my last clinic...give me more insight to my process...doing an endometrial receptive assay test, which will tell is the best day to transfer...protocol is to take estrogen daily to plump up my lining, and then progesterone the days right before the test...
[Texas Fertility Center] is very clean, and organized, staff is very nice. My only complaint was after sending off for my records from my last clinic, it took a few weeks to hear back. However after that phone call, all next steps was well coordinated...[nurse] reviewed the protocol with me, checked in on me after my hematology appointment...willingness to answer all questions and make sure I understand them.

She was recommended by a friend, I had been to another clinic before. She was very nice, and warm. I felt like a part of the team in comparison to just another person getting the normal speech. Describe the protocols Erika Munch used in your cycles at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For me we will be doing an endometrial receptive assay test, which will tell is the best day to transfer. There have been many studies to show this test is beneficial in pointing to the best day to transfer. I will be doing this test next month. Until then the protocol is to take estrogen daily to plump up my lining, and then progesterone the days right before the test.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Texas Fertility Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Hannah )
Hannah reviewed the protocol with me, checked in on me after my hematology appointment. Ansfwred all questions, and told me next steps involved. Strengths is her willingness to answer all questions and make sure I understand them. The only weakness from the clinic is after my consultation, after having sent off for my records, I had to call the clinic. I didnt hear anything at first for a couple weeks.

[Dr. Erika Munch] was 100% transparent with us and we trusted her from the beginning. She made some hard decisions for us early on and we couldn’t be more thankful for her care...We are so grateful to have a healthy little girl now and we feel like we owe it to [her]...she suggested only doing one embryo transfer and if it didn’t work we could talk about doing two embryos the second try
I saw the nurse [at Texas Fertility Center - San Antonio] every appointment...We communicated a lot through email or phone calls when I had questions about the medication...My wait times were short, there was always a staff member I could find and talk to if I had a question about billing...Total I believe was $25K with medications

I will start by saying we were scared and had no idea if it was going to work. With it being a financial burden, we both felt safe and trusted her medical advice early on. Not once throughout the whole process did we question her or her staff. We are so grateful to have a healthy little girl now and we feel like we owe it to Erica.
