Dr. Rosenbluth: had great bedside manner. He was personable, took the time to understand my worries and listen to me over-explain my infertility history, and took the time to teach me and my husband everything we needed to know about my diagnosis and what type of options we had. And ultimately, you want to a doctor who knows what he/she is doing and has adopted industry best practices, and that, Dr. Rosenbluth/RSC embodies. We discussed statistics, the art of hormones levels/types, strategies of timing and different medications all to efficiently crack the code of my infertility. In each treatment we found out more and more about my body and how to create treatment plans around the gained knowledge. I’ve heard horror stories about other fertility doctors who don’t customize treatments to the patient’s body, are not up-to-date on the new best practices and are way too liberal with, for example, frozen egg supplies. That’s why is it super important to find a great doctor and clinic like Rosenbluth and RSC.

Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Didn't waste a lot of time (3-4 months) on letrozole/clomid as I wasn't getting pregnant and and it made my lining thin. We only tried one failed IUI, then during second IUI my body didn't develop follicles so we canceled the IUI. Rosenbluth let me decide to keep going with IUIs or go to IVF. I chose IVF and had a very successful egg retrieval with 20 follicles, 17 fertilized, and 8 made it to thru the blastocyst stage. We genetically tested the eggs and found that 5 were viable. My body really struggled growing a lining above 6.8- we tried, transdermal estrogen patches, oral estrogen, injectable estrogen, vaginal estrogen and also IVF injectable medications (just to grow my lining not for another retrieval). Ultimately the IVF medications got me over and 8mm lining, we transferred and it worked! In-between that exploration time with my lining had an ERA and prior to that, an HSG.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Cara)
The Team : The team was spectacular too! I partnered with their financial planner to strategize on how to tackle expenses in the best possible way with my insurance company- I understand infertility treatments in general are expensive but RSC prices were very reasonable. My case manager was super responsive (quick turnaround on emails!), knowledgeable, and always had a well–informed back-up for me on her days off. Along with my case manager, the technicians were part therapists/cheerleaders. Since they were the ones doing the sonograms they had to share the (first I’m hearing) news on my lining and/or follicles growth which was not easy as I struggled with lining thickness.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Infertility is undoubtedly a science, but should also be considered an art. That’s why it is important to find a first class fertility service like Reproductive Science Center and partner with an amazing doctor like Dr. Evan Rosenbluth.
The Center: I had two offices, both 20 mins away from my house. The receptionists made it easy to schedule providing lots of flexibility– I was able to book super early so I rarely missed work (huge win)! Infertility treatments are filled with documents, training, ordering medications, appointments galore, and RSC had all of the instructions and processes down like a well-oiled machine. As the patient, it is a lot to keep track of and RSC did a great job keeping instructions and my “to do’s” clear and organized.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
My fertility coverage covered each treatment at 80-90%.
He [Dr. Evan Rosenbluth] is courteous but I found him to be a little aloof and distant. I don't feel I have a strong personal connection with him, so if that is very important to you I would consider another doctor. Make sure you stay on top of your own records and don't be afraid to question the doctor's directions if they are at odds with what you know about your own personal history.
RSC has a team-approach so your doctor is not necessarily the one that will be doing your diagnostics, retrievals, transfers, etc...I felt like the specifics of my condition were overlooked, which made me question how much my records & history were reviewed in developing a personalized treatment plan for myself vs. using typical standard protocol...Because you don't have a dedicated person or team assigned to you, I think things can get lost along the way
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
RSC has a team-approach so your doctor is not necessarily the one that will be doing your diagnostics, retrievals, transfers, etc. In my case, Dr. Rosenbluth has not performed any of my "big procedures". Since I started seeing Dr. Rosenbluth 2.5 years ago, I have had 2 retrievals and multiple surgeries to remove scar tissue.
I understood the team approach going in, and this was not a problem for my retrievals as they went relatively smooth without the need to change protocol. However, when my case got trickier and scar tissue was found, it has been become frustrating. As my doctor and the one primarily responsible for putting together my treatment plan, I look to Dr. Rosenbluth to make sense of the imagery from the various diagnostics and surgeries and explain what it means. On a few occasions he has been unable to do so saying he was not the one performing the procedures.
I think he is cautious to not be overly optimistic and give false hope, but I would prefer he share his thoughts with the caveat that it's a gut response (if that's what it is). Without the feedback, it's difficult to gauge what our next steps should be in this process.

I felt like the specifics of my condition were overlooked, which made me question how much my records & history were reviewed in developing a personalized treatment plan for myself vs. using typical standard protocol. I had to remind the doctor of previous thyroid test results in order to get them to increase my prescription. I also had to remind them of my previous fibroid & scar tissue history and request a saline sonogram to make sure I was OK for an embryo transfer. They had assumed that since I had a scar tissue removal surgery 6 months ago I would be fine. Turns out I still had scar tissue so my transfer cycle was cancelled.
Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For my first retrieval, I used birth control prior to stimulation drugs. I used 300IU of Gonal F and 150 IU of Menopur, then introduced Ganirelex. My trigger was a Lupron compound. I ended up with 20-21 eggs, 15 of which were mature. The Menopur stung a little bit, but the first retrieval went pretty smoothly.
My second retrieval was 3 months later. For my second retrieval, they found a cyst during my baseline sonogram so I was given Ovidrel to ovulate it. Then I was given Estrace prior to taking the stim drugs. My dosages were the same as the first retrieval. I ended up with 17 eggs, 15 of which were mature.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The ultrasound technicians were overall were pretty good. You would get whoever was working at the time, so you weren't assigned to any particular nurse. They were all friendly and would describe what they were doing/seeing to keep you in the loop. They would also ask how you were doing to make sure you were comfortable and you could tell it was genuine (vs. just being courteous).
Medical assistants varied. You are assigned a main person to communicate with which is good because they get to know you and your situation. They are not always working though, so you often speak to other medical assistants which can be a mix of very helpful vs. not so helpful, depending on who you get.
Front desk staff are so-so.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
RSC has good success rates which is why I selected them and why I continue to stick with them.
Although you are assigned a main doctor, they have a team approach which means your doctor may not be the one performing your procedures. The doctors rotate between office visit days and procedure days (they don't do both on the same day) so you get whoever happens to be scheduled for procedures that day. While it is less personal, the reasoning is that it allows the doctors to focus, increasing their success rates.
You do not get a boutique-clinic experience here and I don't feel like I have the greatest personal connection with my doctor, but I continue to stick with them because of the success rates. I would rather have a greater chance of taking home a baby than a better relationship with my doctor.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I signed up for a package with Attain. It was a package that included 2 retrieval cycles and however many transfers needed to take home a baby or your money back for $22,500. If a cycle is cancelled or you require additional diagnostics outside of the routine ultrasounds, you pay out of pocket.
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
We were not interested in multiple transfers. Due to my age (38) we were pretty sure we wanted to do PGD/PGS and single transfer.
What specific things went wrong at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Lost appointments
Failed to call with results
Failed to send your chart to another clinic

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Because you don't have a dedicated person or team assigned to you, I think things can get lost along the way.
I have shown up to a couple of scheduled appointments where they weren't expecting me (they worked it out on both occasions and I was seen).
I have had prescriptions not be called in following surgery (clinic claims they called but the pharmacy said they didn't receive anything)
I have had records not sent to another facility. I was originally told they were sent but the receiving party said only a recommendation letter was received, no records or imagery.
You need to stay on the team and check that they have done the things they have said or that you need them to do.
Doctor Rosenbluth was knowledgeable, professional, data-driven, result-oriented and supportive from day one of our IVF journey...explains things well, always stays positive and truly cares about his patients...also has a great sense of humor which helped a lot during not so easy times.
We had an amazing experience with RSC...staff is professional, compassionate and supportive...have all the procedures right in house, which is very convenient....Lydia was always accessible and responded to any phone calls, portal messages and questions. She is extremely knowledgeable, professional and confident

We were trying to conceive for more than 3 years with no luck. My husband is 42 and I’m 39, so it was a lot of pressure and feeling that time is running out.

Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. Rosenbluth took a lot of time to listen and answer all our questions, even if we thought they were silly to ask. He made us feel every question was worth asking and gave us clear answers. He called on weekends to follow-up...[he] prefers single embryo transfer, better outcomes for the baby and myself at my age...After an unsuccessful first round, he changed the protocol for the next round
Everyone at Reproductive Science Center is wonderful! So compassionate, friendly, and organized...There is a financial advisor you will meet with. They have a loan option, and they partner with Fertility Access to give cycle bundle discounts...The financial counselor didn't have all the information we had hoped, we had to call other offices to find out information on our own...they let us know up front that my doctor may not be the one to perform the retrieval..
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Our consultation with Dr. Rosenbluth was via video, due to COVID, they were not doing in-person consultations. He reviewed our charts, explained the procedures, and answered every question. After our consult we were in touch with a case manager. The case manager is wonderful. She is the person we are in contact with most. Dr. Rosenbluth did not do my egg retrieval, another doctor at the clinic did, but they let us know up front that my doctor may not be the one to perform the retrieval. After my retrieval Dr. Rosenbluth showed genuine concern for my recovery and was delicate giving us news. He even called on the weekend to let us know the results. After an unsuccessful first round, he changed the protocol for the next round.
He's been wonderful so far. He is a man of science, so he believes in the IVF process, not any holistic practices like acupuncture or supplements.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I would recommend Dr. Rosenbluth. Make a list of questions before each visit, he will answer all for you.

Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My first round was an antagonist protocol. I was on Estradiol for 2 weeks, then started Gonal F 300IU and Menopur 150IU. After 5 days I added in Ganirelix. I had 4 monitoring appointments throughout the process. I stimmed for 10 days, triggered on day 11 and had retrieval on day 12. Triggered with HCG 5k. Retireval resulted in 5 eggs retrieved, 3 were mature, 1 fertilized, but didn't make it to day 6 blast.
Round 2 was a microdose lupron protocol to help with egg quality. I was on Estradiol for 2 weeks, then started Lupron 10 units twice per day for two days, on day 3 added Gonal F 300IU and Menopur 150IU. Adding Omnitrope soon and will trigger with HCG 5k.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Valeri Webber)
Everyone at Reproductive Science Center is wonderful! So compassionate, friendly, and organized. My case manager has been through IVF herself and is so empathetic. I feel like she's really rooting for us, like a close friend.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The San Ramon center is nice, clean, and the staff is wonderful. The only area we had some trouble in was their finance department. The financial counselor was late to our consultation and is not very responsive via their message center. I believe they are very busy and possibly understaffed. The financial counselor didn't have all the information we had hoped, we had to call other offices to find out information on our own. It would be nice if it was all in one place, with our clinic. This process is incredibly stressful and there's so much to remember, having everything centralized and handled by one place would be so beneficial.
When the financial counselor did respond, she was polite and helpful. It's best to call rather than send a message.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
There is a financial advisor you will meet with. They have a loan option, and they partner with Fertility Access to give cycle bundle discounts. Before our consultation we were advised IVF cost was approximately $15,814 and medications range from $3,000 - $6,000.
They do take insurance.
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
My doctor prefers single embryo transfer, better outcomes for the baby and myself at my age.
In every interaction I've had with Dr.Rosenbluth he's been kind, candid, and very helpful. He seems genuinely invested in helping me along my pregnancy journey despite the many many hiccups we've hit along the way...After some extended genetic testing we discovered that I have an x-linked genetic condition. Dr. Rosenbluth spoke to me multiple times to help explain what that means and how it would change our plan going forward
Jennifer and the whole nursing staff at RSC have been incredibly helpful. I will admit that I have been so anxious to go through this process that I like to check in more than any normal human would. The nurses have been so patient and have always answered my questions via the portal in a timely manner (within 48 hours). Jennifer and I have also spoken on the phone many times to discuss next steps and our plan...
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Coming into this journey due to my age we thought it would be a simple case of a few IUI treatments and bam you're pregnant.
After a few tests we discovered that I likely have PCOS so Dr.Rosenbluth spoke with me to discuss how that would change our process. Despite the setback I still felt very confident with the clinic and Dr.Rosenbluth's plan.
After some extended genetic testing we discovered that I have an x-linked genetic condition. Dr. Rosenbluth spoke to me multiple times to help explain what that means and how it would change our plan going forward. I ended up having to switch over to an IVF treatment which Dr.Rosenbluth wanted to have a separate conversation about which was scheduled for a week(ish) later.
Dr. Rosenbluth has been very helpful throughout this whole process. We have spoken once over Zoom and maybe four or five times over the phone to discuss my treatment. It has been a frustrating turn of events but I haven't doubted Dr.Rosenbluth's ability as a doctor once while it's been going on.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
If you can, make sure you go into your appointments with a list of questions you would like answered. Doctors are so busy that being prepared for the appointment means that you can really make the most of your time. I would also be sure to ask (and take notes on) what next steps are and what the estimated timing will be. He definitely discusses this without prompting but making sure you write it down so that you have a plan after the chat is super helpful.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I feel very confident with my decision to choose the Reproductive Science Center overall.
Getting an initial appointment did take a long time (a few months) so I would advise potential new patients to call and schedule early in their journey.
At first I wanted a female doctor (personal preference), but after hearing the wait for a female doctor would be a week or so longer than a male I ended up going with Dr.Rosenbluth who had the first spot available.
He has been great during this process and I feel good about this decision.
Barbara from his financial team has been amazing and so helpful. We have spoken multiple times over the phone and through the patient portal and I really appreciate all that she's done to help me so far.
The one thing I would note for future patients, which I learned through a friend and has not been my experience, is that there is an age cutoff for patients pursuing certain treatments using their own eggs. This isn't uncommon amongst fertility clinics but if you're over the age of 43 I would look into it.
In summary I've been very happy with the RSC clinic and would 100% recommend it.

Dr Rosenbluth is awesome! He is so kind and real professional! He called me personally after every single step, he was very supportive and helpful...Even with AMH 0.1 when I was so frustrated he told me that I still have a chance to get pregnant with my own egg and was absolutely right. I am so grateful that I met him, and my journey was so smooth and easy...I had 2 IUI cycles. one with clomid, one with letrosole. Both were not successful. Also I had one cancelled IUI with letrosole because of early ovulation. For IVF cycle I started with Estrace, was stimulated with Menopur, Gonal F 300. Also I took Lupron shots. The day before transfer I started taking Endometrin Vaginally and Estrace. With my AMH 0.1 we’ve got 4 follicles, doctor was able to retrieve 3 eggs, all of them were mature, 2 fertilized. One was transferred on day 5, and was resulted in pregnancy, second - was frozen on day 6
She [the nurse at Reproductive Science Center] was good. But the thing is nurses are shifting all the time, and even when you have your case manager, you will communicate with a lot of other nurses, and it is causes a lot of mess and misscommunication...I had a lot of problems with my prescriptions. Every single time they were messing something with pharmacy. And Because of that I spent extra time to fix it. Also By someone’s mistake I was given shot that I was not supposed to get, and didn’t get those that I really needed and lost a lot of time because of that. Thanks God no impact on my health. And such things happened all the time. They are not organized at all, and some of nurses are not polite and kind.

Dr. Rosenbluth is great. He listens and asks how you are doing emotionally. While we didn't spend too much time with him during appointments, he was sure to be the one to call after the egg retrieval as we went through the ups and downs...We turned to IVF after our second IUI cycle ended in an ectopic pregnancy and removal of the damaged tube
The monitoring appointments [at Reproductive Science Center] went fairly well. I was glad to get the print out at the end of each appointment with the number and size of follicles. Some clinicians were better than others in terms of discomfort and explaining what they saw...Full cycle from baseline ultrasound to retrieval with ICSI and freeze all was ~$16,100 to RSC. IVF stimulation meds were ~$4000. PGS lab fee was ~$2000.

Dr. Rosenbluth is great. He listens and asks how you are doing emotionally. While we didn't spend too much time with him during appointments, he was sure to be the one to call after the egg retrieval as we went through the ups and downs. When we had near total fertilization failure with no genetically normal embryos, we made a follow up appointment and talked at length about next steps.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
We did a lot of our own research and asked a lot of questions. I would definitely recommend other patients do the same as I'm not sure we would have gotten as much information from him if we hadn't been so engaged.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
During our initial consultation, where we were very clear we were ready for IVF, Dr. Rosenbluth and our cycle coordinator, Jennifer P. took the time to review all of our records and listen to us. While RSC is a large and very efficient operation, they did a great job of communicating throughout our IVF egg retrieval cycle. Unfortunately, our cycle coordinator had to take leave and we were bounced around to a few different members of the care team during the IVF egg retrieval cycle, which presented some challenges in addressing the unique issues with the cycle.
Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We turned to IVF after our second IUI cycle ended in an ectopic pregnancy and removal of the damaged tube. My numbers were good for my age (AMH 4.7 ng/mL; FSH was 5.6 mIU/mL) and my husband's sperm were also good (TMC 77). Given my numbers, Dr. Rosenbluth decided on a antagonist protocol with Luperon trigger to minimize the chance of ovarian hyperstimulation. We went with the recommended ICSI and "freeze all" cycle so that we could avoid some of the uncertainties associated with fertilization and so that we could do genetic screening (PGS) on the embryos. I ended up with an antral follicle count of over 30 and 24 mature eggs after retrieval, which was really high for my age. Unfortunately, my husband caught pneumonia right before the stimulation cycle. When we asked the cycle coordinator on our baseline exam whether it was a good idea to continue, she indicated that it should be fine as long as he did not have a fever on the day of retrieval. I asked again the day of our first stimulation injection if it was okay to continue given he had had a fever for the past week, and same answer: it should be fine as long as he does not have a fever on the day of retrieval. Well, on the day of retrieval, my husband's sperm were "not good" (TMC less than 1) per Dr. Rosenbluth. We ended up with only 3 of my 24 eggs fertilizing (compared to typical fertilization rate of ~75% with ICSI). Of the 2 embryos that made it to blastocyst stage, neither were genetically normal. ICSI should have solved the sperm issue but it didn't and we are left scratching our heads and likely going to freeze sperm for our next cycle.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Jennifer Patterson)
Jennifer P. was great. Unfortunately, she had to take leave and we were bounced around to a few different members of the care team during the IVF egg retrieval cycle. It was really tough switching coordinators after doing all the cycle prep with Jennifer P. I didn't have the same level of communication from the other coordinators nor, frankly, the insight. Given my husband got very sick right as we started the stimulation, I would have expected the cycle coordinators to make sure Dr. Rosenbluth knew. After speaking with Dr. Rosenbluth, I don't get the impression he did.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I think RSC does an amazing job for a clinic that is open 365 days a year and staffed to be prepared to address all patients needs during their cycle. However, I found their answering service to be quite challenging because we were told we could not speak with the doctor when in fact he was able to call us right back. It added unnecessary stress during our cycle.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The monitoring appointments went fairly well. I was glad to get the print out at the end of each appointment with the number and size of follicles. Some clinicians were better than others in terms of discomfort and explaining what they saw.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Full cycle from baseline ultrasound to retrieval with ICSI and freeze all was ~$16,100 to RSC. IVF stimulation meds were ~$4000. PGS lab fee was ~$2000. There were a number of appointments and bloodwork prior to the baseline exam that probably added up to another ~$1500 or so. All in all, the IVF cycle prep through embryo testing was less than $24,000. Frozen embryo transfer would have added ~$5000. Note that a lot of the diagnostic appointments including bloodwork are covered by health insurance and I was able to pay for a lot of it using an HSA.
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
It seemed that there was no question in Dr. Rosenbluth's mind that we would do the pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS) and a single embryo transfer. I believe this was the best approach for us despite the added cost (ICSI included in cycle, PGS lab fee ~$2000). Having gone through a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy, I liked the relative assurance provided by transferring a single, genetically normal embryo. I was less sure about ICSI given the slightly increased chance of birth defects but I decided to go with his recommendation because ICSI makes the blastocyst biopsy taken for genetic screening less prone to "contamination" from all the other sperm that may have otherwise "stuck" to the outside of the egg.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
My husband caught pneumonia right before the stimulation cycle. I would have expected the cycle coordinators to make sure Dr. Rosenbluth knew. After our failed cycle, we spoke at length with Dr. Rosenbluth and I don't get the impression he was alerted either time we communicated to the cycle coordinator (in person and in a portal message) that he was very sick. I think RSC could have reacted better to this unforeseen and unusual circumstance but it seemed that the cycle coordinator (not Jennifer Patterson, as she was on leave) was on "autopilot."
Dr. Rosenbluth shared in our journey in the most supportive way and when we did not conceive, he was incredibly kind and explained every last detail. He spoke to us like intelligent people which a lot of doctors forget to do. He made us feel extremely comfortable and was always honest about our odds...never for a second treated us like we were any different than any other couple wanting to start a family. So if you’re an LGBT couple this is the place for you.
the clinic [Reproductive Science Center] held our hands through the entire process...We started with meds to stimulate the follicles, standard egg retrieval, we utilized genetic testing of our embryos and only 1 was viable so we only had an opportunity for 1 transfer...All of the nurses at RSC were awesome but Jennifer was amazing. We never actually met her face to face because she was off the day of our consultation but she was always available through phone and email. Again, she made us feel like humans and answered every single one of our crazy “googled” questions about what was going on.
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Rosenbluth immediately made us feel at ease by treating us like friends more than clients. We definitely didn’t feel like a number. He got excited when we were excited and sad when we were sad. He was honest and straightforward about the process, risks, and chances.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I can’t think of any really because the clinic held our hands through the entire process. Also, I want to mention that we are a lesbian couple and my wife was receiving the treatments. I took care of all the organizing and administering of meds, money, appointments, etc. Dr. R never for a second treated us like we were any different than any other couple wanting to start a family. So if you’re an LGBT couple this is the place for you.

The only weakness I can think of is that we weren’t given the opportunity to explore a the multi cycle package vs the pay by cycle package because we were against the clock cycle wise. It all went so fast in the end we wish someone would have sat us down and went over the multi cycle option so when our one and only embryo didn’t make it it wouldn’t have been so devastating.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The retrieval was around $16k, meds $5k, transfer $4k, meds $400.

During our visits we got to meet Dr. Rosenbluth and discuss our treatment. He partners with another Dr. who we talk to more over the phone. But together they have made this process as stress free as it can be, and have been patient with us while we go at our own pace and make decisions.

Our fertility treatment that was selected was IUI insemination. I believe this was selected for my partner and I because the consultation gave great fertility results for my partner. Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Payment has always been very straight forward. We received 50% off our consultation after attending a seminar hosted by RSC. And we were quoted just a bit under $900 for our fertility treatment we selected not including costs of donor sperm. Blood work and other required testing was offered to us at a reasonable price and recommendations for cost efficient labs were offered.
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. Rosenbluth was caring, compassionate, and a clear communicator. When our cycle was in jeopardy of being cancelled he made himself available to answer our questions and talk through potential options. Because Dr. Rosenbluth does this everyday sometimes I think he (and other providers) can forget that we've never done before and don't always know what to ask. We are relying on them to tell us what we need to know and consider.
Overall the clinic [RSC] is organized and folks are customer oriented. During monitoring, I wish I could have the same ultrasound tech as sometimes that part can feel very robotic and impersonal. The cost of IVF is insane and I wish my clinic provided more discounts to self-pay patients....Jennifer Patterson is the best. She's quick to respond, empathetic and caring when you need an extra nudge to keep going and hang in there, and super organized. She's what's made this experience doable.

typical low ovarian reserve (low AMH) protocol for first round - poor response, almost cancelled cycle and then Hail Mary retrieval after extra days of meds; retrieved 5 eggs, 2 fertilized; 1 made it to day 5 blast; was abnormal when PGS tested. :(
Second round starts this month, mid-luteal estrace protocol to hopefully prime my system to respond better. fingers crossed.

Initial visit $260 (included initial consultation and genetic screen bloodwork; initial consultation fee was discounted 50% because we attended "meet the doctor" event; Initial round fees includes monitoring and egg retrieval = $16,098; genetic testing panel for husband and I = $250/pp; PGS testing fees (multi cycle plan) = $2575; stim medications all self pay = $5,000
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. Rosenbluth prefers to do single embryo transfer. We haven't had any to transfer yet but when we do, I believe he will advocate for one at a time.
What specific things went wrong at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
[Dr. Rosenbluth is] very forthright with information and responsive...My embryos did not make it to Day 3 for a fresh transfer...I didn't think that after only 1 IVF attempt that I'd already need to start looking at donor eggs. This is immediately what my Dr started discussing with me as my only option for success...was helpful in explaining the IVF process, statistics, and possible expectations but ultimately I felt that the Dr/Clinic was discouraging me from continuing with my own eggs because they felt I would end up with the same outcome as my first which ended in no viable embryos.
My embryos did not make it to Day 3 for a fresh transfer [at Reproductive Science Center]...[the staff is] wonderful to work with. I did have some issues with getting the financial information for the treatment relayed to me in a timely manner for whatever reason but they did rectify that within a reasonable time after a few phone calls were made...probably has their set of treatment protocols in place and there's no deviation so if it doesn't work within the expected treatment parameters then you immediately move on to implementing other fertility aids to get a person pregnant (donor eggs/surrogacy).
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I appreciate that the Dr was very candid about my chances but I felt that the Dr/Clinic should continue to try and work with their client and not immediately push for the "sure" thing (i.e. egg donors). The Dr was helpful in explaining the IVF process, statistics, and possible expectations but ultimately I felt that the Dr/Clinic was discouraging me from continuing with my own eggs because they felt I would end up with the same outcome as my first which ended in no viable embryos.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He is a good Dr and very forthright with information and responsive. I believe that if you are an older patient and still looking to use your own eggs that you would be better off going to another clinic.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I got the feeling that my 42 year old status wasn't going to help RSC with their success stats. While I absolutely understand my age being a huge factor in my ability to have a perfect IVF outcome right off the back, I didn't think that after only 1 IVF attempt that I'd already need to start looking at donor eggs. This is immediately what my Dr started discussing with me as my only option for success. I understand that the fertility Dr's have more experience and have seen more patients/results that would warrant bringing up this option but I only went through 1 IVF cycle. When I hear my Dr say that "he's nervous/afraid" another cycle would yield the same unfortunate results or that the Dr already expects another failed outcome, it makes me lose faith in my Dr and the process. I understand that RSC probably has their set of treatment protocols in place and there's no deviation so if it doesn't work within the expected treatment parameters then you immediately move on to implementing other fertility aids to get a person pregnant (donor eggs/surrogacy).
Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My treatment protocol was as follows:
Prenatal vitamin daily
Cetrotide (Antagonist 0.25 mg)
FSH (Gonal F) 300 units
Menopur 150 units
Trigger: Lupron 4 mg
I did not have any adverse reactions to the medications other than the expected bloating.

I felt that I was very well taken care of by the nursing staff. They were incredibly supportive throughout the entire process.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I understand that RSC has their set of treatment protocols in place and there's no deviation so if it doesn't work within the expected treatment parameters then you immediately move on to implementing other fertility aids to get a person pregnant (donor eggs/surrogacy). I felt a bit deflated after the conversation I had with my Dr regarding the results of my IVF treatment (my embryos did not make it for a 3 day transfer) and decided I needed to find another Dr or Clinic that would do what they could to continue aiding me in my attempts to get pregnant and bring home a baby using my own eggs. I understand everyone's experience and journey is different. I truly felt that I was going to have a negative impact on RCS's success numbers. While I understand the Clinic does want to help me conceive a child, they want to promote all the options available to do it even if it's not what I was interested in. I will say that the RSC staff was been wonderful to work with. I did have some issues with getting the financial information for the treatment relayed to me in a timely manner for whatever reason but they did rectify that within a reasonable time after a few phone calls were made.

We followed a typical protocol for egg retrieval (injectables). We were planning on doing a fresh transfer, but had to freeze all embryos and wait to do a FET on the next cycle because my progesterone levels were off. For the FET we delayed the transfer by one week to get my lining up to par and had success with our first transfer.

Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
He strongly recommended eSET due to my age, male factor diagnosis, and the difficulties of multiples in pregnancy.
Dr. Rosenbluth was very sensitive to the stressful nature of infertility and did not get defensive or dismissive even when I was very skeptical or dismissive myself. He shared his personal experiences with infertility and very clearly explained all the details of our plan and costs and benefits of our options. I felt he listened to me and took my feelings and priorities into account when recommending options.... Dr. Rosenbluth recommended a conservative approach to start and we first tried an unmonitored cycle of letrozole.
I was very happy with this clinic [RSC]. Not only were the doctors and nurses warm and up to date on my care but the clinic also helped me find a way to get a lower cost treatment or procedure on multiple occasions (my insurance does not cover infertility treatments)... Our nurse was very organized and responsive and if she could not respond quickly she often had another nurse help answer my questions.

Due to our schedule and cost concerns, and lack of other complicating factors, Dr. Rosenbluth recommended a conservative approach to start and we first tried an unmonitored cycle of letrozole. His tone during discussions is great and he [Dr. Rosenbluth] keeps it real when deciding next steps. And even when we believe we would like to extend shots or produce more eggs for better chances he adjust the treatment to give us what we would like and doesn't fight back but gives all the possibilities and outcomes. And he hasn't pressured us into IVF after each fail.... He is very busy and highly sought out so don't fear if he is unable to do all your procedures.
Staff [RSC] outside of finance and billing is great not complaints. First was pills with no injectables which resulted in little growth. Then we moved to pills and injectables which lead to a positive result but ended in miscarriage, then another treatment with injectables which was extended out becasue of test needed which resulted in 1 very large egg but a negative test, then another round with injectables at a lower dosage to get more eggs which resulted in a low positive that we thought was chemical but started to double but ended in a miscarriage.

Very authentic with her words and approach in passing along information, kept us informed with any Dr treatment changes and got all of our questions to the Dr and clear responses. And during our issue with the billing/finance department took a stand and stood up for us to remove some of the major stress they were causing us, and got us in contact with the decision makers. Heather was and is still a God send during our treatments.

A lot of information that we were given during our initial join to RSC was later dismissed and not communicated well in changes or noting our account with what had been discussed. Financial coordinator was a bit abrasive in her approach being brought late into our journey.
Dr. Rosenbluth is good at what he does. He can be warm in his delivery of not so good news, but I like that he is always willing to discuss next steps if the outcome isn't what we had hoped for. I'll be honest, I wasn't the biggest fan after our initial consultation, but he grew on me. I feel that he has a genuine interest in our success and I appreciate that a lot.... He talks pretty fast so make sure you ask questions if you don't understand something.
The clinic [RSC - Orinda] is pretty warm in welcoming you, especially Ms. Loretta at the front desk. I adore her. She always greets me with a smile and I get the same when I'm leaving.... Heather is an amazing case manager. She is always available to answer our questions and she does so with such kindness and compassion....The only thing to be on alert about is the financial coordinator... She gave us information that was not accurate, made our cycle extra stressful

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He talks pretty fast so make sure you ask questions if you don't understand something.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Even if the doctor is unavailable to talk to me directly, my case manager is usually able to get a hold of him to answer my questions and get back to me in a prompt manner. I like that a lot.
Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
During our first cycle of injectables with IUI, I was started on a low dosage of medicine because he didn't want to overstimulate too many of my follicles. It took a while for me to respond so we ended up increasing the dose. I ended up with OHSS by the end of the cycle, but I got pregnant and that was all that mattered to me. I ended up miscarrying at 6 weeks so on the next cycle, we did not increase the injections nearly as much so as to avoid another OHSS situation. I didn't get pregnant but Dr. Rosenbluth said it was a better controlled cycle so he advised we try that again. The third cycle we did the same thing with the injectables and I got pregnant. Unfortunately, I am miscarrying again but the fact that I got pregnant again was somewhat good news, That first cycle was more of a trial and error IMO and we learned what my body could and could not handle.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Heather Thomson)
Heather is an amazing case manager. She is always available to answer our questions and she does so with such kindness and compassion. We've been on this TTC journey for almost 4 years and are on our 4th clinic and having a great nursing staff is KEY. I could not be more pleased with Heather on our team.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The clinic is pretty warm in welcoming you, especially Ms. Loretta at the front desk. I adore her. She always greets me with a smile and I get the same when I'm leaving. The only thing to be on alert about is the financial coordinator Amy. We only worked with her for a short while but that was long enough to leave a really bad taste in our mouths. She gave us information that was not accurate, made our cycle extra stressful on top of the stress that already comes with TTC, and when asked to discuss the errors, she became very combative and was not willing to right her wrong. My advice, if you're assigned to her, make sure you do your due diligence. Double-check EVERYTHING. And if you want to be sure you're getting the best quality of care, ask for a different financial coordinator.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
There was one time during a cycle that my case manager said the doctor was going to call me later in the day about my test results and he didn't. This was on a Friday, so I was on pins and needles all weekend about the results because I had to wait until he was back in the office on Monday.
Dr Rosenbluth met us on our first appointment and from the get go got down to business, he knew our history and information which I appreciated- he did his homework before we arrived. He spoke easily and made it all understandable, not confusing doctor talk. He made us feel comfortable to ask questions and reviewed anything we asked over again. He has also called me a number of times to discuss outcomes and treatment changes which has been really personal and greatly appreciated.
The clinic [RSC - Orinda] is amazing from the moment you email them about with an inquiry. They are kind, professional, and calming. They are punctual and do what they, when they say they will. All of the staff have been kind and welcoming and professional. No weaknesses. Even their Orinda location is perfectly located to Bart so it’s an easy walk to appointments.... They use Natera for genetic testing and you don’t pay till after and receive a significant discount for being an RSC patient. They also have financial a resource officer on site in the office.

Go to your appointments with questions and ask anything you are confused about- he is happy to answer them and obviously knows what he is doing. His end goal is to help you and it’s very obvious he’s a wonderful person.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr Rosebluth (and his whole office) treated us with compassion from the moment we walked in, but was also candid and gave us a lot of information, and then was always happy to review that information over again with us, and answer any questions. He has personally called me to give me good and not so good news, and really has taken the time to care for our feelings, but also understands that we want to know the details and the ins and out of everything. He is the perfect balance of information and understanding that this is a hard and emotional time.
Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We haven’t delved into the actual treatments yet but I have a very detailed calendar and plan laid out which I appreciate. I know Dr Rosenbluth will be very communicative throughout the whole process.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Laura B. )
Laura B has been there every step of the way and has taken time to call and email me regularly, has kept me very up to date with progress, and has repeatedly answered my questions and clarified things when I am confused. She has advocated for me with getting prescriptions and other blood work done and for lowered prices. She has also taken time to arrange for special classes for us when there was not availability in the scheduled classes. She also is very funny and warm and caring.

Some costs were upfront: $250 for initial visit, and $590-700 for other visits and sonograms/tests. All reasonable fees. They use Natera for genetic testing and you don’t pay till after and receive a significant discount for being an RSC patient. They also have financial a resource officer on site in the office.
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I appreciate that Dr Rosenbluth and RSC are honest about not doing multiple transfers due to the heightened pregnancy risks. They care that we take one baby home and have high standards of practice.
Dr. Rosenbluth has been very caring, kind and thorough. At the same time, he is very honest and straightforward. He was honest about the potential challenges of my treatment and the odds of success, due to my age. I feel very comfortable with him and appreciate his attention to my care on a personal level. I also appreciate that all the doctors in the practice discussed my test results and conferred with Dr. Rosenbluth's diagnoses.
RSC is very welcoming, with a comfortable atmosphere and highly competent staff. The message portal they use for communication makes getting questions answered very easy. The only negative has been in dealing with the scheduling center. In scheduling my HSG, both my case manager and nurse had contacted the scheduling center to get in touch with me several times, and it was several days before they finally contacted me. When they did, I had only three days left to schedule the HSG and they had only one day available, which did not work with my schedule. They informed me that I could have it done at another facility and they would reach out to them to get it scheduled. I assumed they meant another RSC office, but I received a message through the communication portal directing me to an Imaging Facility or the local hospital, along with the phone numbers/contact info. I was told to let them know once I had scheduled the procedure and they would send over the paperwork. I spent close to an hour on the phone trying to get an appointment at another facility. While this is certainly not the fault of RSC, it would have been helpful to have known up front what to expect.
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Rosenbluth was welcoming and detailed in his explanations. He quickly put us at ease and made us feel as if we could trust him to navigate the procedures, testing, etc. We met with him during our initial consultation and ultrasound. I had my testing (blood work, HSG) at different facilities due to insurance coverage (blood work) and scheduling (HSG), but Dr. Rosenbluth followed up with me personally with the results of my testing and conferred with the other doctors at the clinic regarding my HSG results. We will soon be undergoing the remainder of treatment (MESA/TESE, IVF, ICSI, PGS, FET) and I'm very confident in the remaining care I'll receive from Dr. Rosenbluth and RSC.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Trust his knowledge, experience and suggestions. Know that he is giving you the best and worse case scenario and that he has your best interests in mind.

Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have yet to undergo treatment and protocols with Dr. Rosenbluth. I had an initial consultation with him and an ultrasound to count the number of follicles and determine ovarian reserve, as that would help determine whether I was a viable candidate and potential success of treatment. He was pleasantly surprised by the number of follicles present (high for my age) which was followed by positive results from blood work, suggesting a normal to high ovarian reserve. He suggested an HSG because he saw a small paratubal cyst on the ultrasound, and wanted to confirm its diagnosis.
Because my partner previously had a vasectomy many years ago, we knew he would need to undergo MESA/TESE, and we decided to have the procedure done at RSC rather than with his current urologist because we felt very comfortable and confident with Dr. Rosenbluth and RSC. Following his procedure, planned protocol/treatment is IVF, ICSI, PGS (because of my age), and FET. I have not been given an exact list of medications yet, just a probable list to contact my insurance company with.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The nurses have been wonderful. They are very caring and compassionate and make you feel at ease. My case manager, Jennifer, has been very easy to communicate with and very thorough, answering all of my questions quickly and completely.

The majority of my treatment will be covered by my insurance. The exceptions are MESA/TESE ($2935), PGS ($2300, plus $1750-3000 due to the genetic testing lab directly). My medications are also covered by my insurance.
Describe Evan Rosenbluth's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
We have not discussed the number of embryos to transfer yet, it is dependent on the number of eggs they're able to retrieve, number of embryos created, and results of PGS. I know that Dr. Rosenbluth is very supportive of eSET, however, my age may make a determination for multiple embryo transfer. I trust Dr. Rosenbluth to suggest the best option in my circumstance.
He [Dr. Evan Rosenbluth] genuinely cares about each patient and wants to help them reach their fertility goals. I think he could do an even better job with mapping out all the different aspects and requirements of the entire procedures, or have someone else (a case manager) meet with the patients right after meeting with him to explain the ebb and flow.... We decided to do 2 back to back cycles first with a lot of meds and see if we got any eggs or how many and then do a second one if we got none or some with a lower dosage of meds
The doctors, case managers, finance department, etc. all do very specific things and I don't think that they are streamlined together very well, which makes it difficult for the patient to manage all the moving pieces. You don't usually see your case managers or financial advisers in person-all the communication is over the phone and/or email which is impersonal and difficult to ensure that you are getting the best care you can.

My husband and I feel that Dr. Rosenbluth cares about us and is genuinely interested in helping us meet our goals. Unfortunately, the nurses are managing to many patients and I found often did not have a good grasp on the specifics of my case. On the flip side, I spoke to Dr. Rosenbluth about my concerns and after that I have not had any negative experiences with the nurses.

We decided to do 2 back to back cycles first with a lot of meds and see if we got any eggs or how many and then do a second one if we got none or some with a lower dosage of meds. Unfortunately, I did not react well to either cycle and stopped before the retrieval as I would not have gotten more than one egg.

I did not feel that my case manager understood the specifics of my unusual case but when I shared my concerns with the doctor my case manager switched and I was much happier with the level of care.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
They have a high success rate, you can make appointments for everything and you don't have to wait very long usually. They have a number of offices and try to make your appointments at the closest one to you. They have a number of financial packages- they even refunded us money that we did not use because our two ivf cycles were cut short towards our next egg donor ivf cycle.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
14,000 for general IVF cycle with the addition of medications and PGD testing from lab. As I mentioned before, there was an option to pay through a special program that I believe makes it more affordable for many. However, because our chances were so low for success we decided to pay directly to the clinic as they promised to refund us any money we did not use.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
My first case manager did not know the specifics to my case and therefore did not tell me crucial information about what they needed from me in order to streamline the process. Specifically with dealing with the lab that would be doing our PGD testing for specific genetic mutation. Then she did not know crucial information about what medication I was on before the cycle which affected my cycle date even though it was all in my file.
The doctor [Rosenbluth] only looked at my numbers and compared me to a database on his computer, even going so far as to print out a document that he handed off to me while he dissuaded me. He was condescending, used a mocking tone, and did not speak to me with respect. He was visibly irritated that I had done research beforehand, had an understanding of the procedure(s), and had questions...
I was very disappointed in this clinic [RSC] after having been referred by my OB. Staff was not compassionate and I felt like just another number walking through the door...I had very limited contact with nursing staff beyond leaving voicemails or brief telephone consultations. I was very disappointed in this clinic...The doctor did not wish to attempt treatment strategies and no one from his office followed up to questions regarding protocols or treatments.
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I would never recommend Dr. Rosenbluth due to his lack of empathy, demeaning manner, and annoyance toward questions. His only goal is to preserve the statistics of the clinic rather than help women achieve their fertility goals.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Do not select this doctor if given a choice and avoid this clinic if you are an older patient.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I was very disappointed in this clinic after having been referred by my OB. Staff was not compassionate and I felt like just another number walking through the door. I had to drop of paperwork in San Ramon but was scheduled in Orinda. The clinic seems to cater to young married couples and discourages anyone outside of those demographics from their fertility goals, especially if they are older. Cost is high for low results.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Cost was 100% out of pocket. I was quoted $275 for the 1-hour initial consultation and exam, but was charged $435. 2 and 2 (4 tries) was
$18,200 paid up front. Injections/Medication was $2,000.
Care was tailored to our situation, [Dr. Evan Rosenbluth] always listened to our questions and concerns and responded thoughtfully. Made himself available for a call or two during off hours...Fairly standard protocol, no agonists. Did use birth control for 1-2 weeks prior to starting stims. Had plans to freeze any resulting blastocysts, so our goal was to stimulate with the hopes of getting as many eggs as possible (Menopur, Gonal-F were used, cetrotide and lupron trigger). ICSI used for fertilization (28 of 33 fertilized). All resulting day 5/6 blasts (12) were biopsied for PGS at day 5/6 and frozen the same day. Transfer - drugs, estrace and PIO. Single embryo transferred, resulting in singleton pregnancy.
[At RSC] You have one doctors, but other doctors may help with care/procedures depending on timing and what that doctor's strengths are. They use a Team Care approach. - Strength - Experience and quality of doctors and care staff - Weakness - Busy at times, may need to wait to get a new patient consult, but once you are a patient things move a bit quicker. Probably a bit pricey (but we did not compare with other local clinics), worth the money! - As the doctors are often dealing with many patients and different situations, communication with your case manager is key. They will be your primary touch point throughout the cycle. - If you want to speak with the doctor instead of a nurse or case manager, just ask! - The informational IVF nurse was also a great resource when I need to ask a question about diet, activity, medicine, etc... during the cycle.
How was your experience with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Strengths: compassionate, good communicator, good bedside manner, experienced
Weaknesses: Some routine care and procedures at this clinic are taken on by the other doctors, not just your doctor. For example, my doctor did not do my egg retrieval. However, this is done in part to ensure that each doctor is working on their strongest procedures and helps with the on-call process. Not really a weakness, unless you want your doctor to be doing every procedure.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Double check everything when it comes to dosages and meds with your case manager. Especially when they are altered or changed mid cycle. In doubt... call! I had a small miscommunication with my case manager (not the doctor), and it put my cycle in jeopardy. Luckily everything worked out. You can't be too careful with this sort of investment!

Had a miscommunication via voicemail with my case manager regarding what meds to stop, start and continue. In the future, if I had any doubts, I would ensure to speak directly with the case manager. Luckily, it worked out okay. Communication is key!
He's [Dr. Evan Rosenbluth] a nice person and a good communicator, but he wasn't paying attention to my health and medications prior to my donor egg embryo transfer, which likely caused it to be unsuccessful. For example, he neglected to inform me that I shouldn't be taking antihistamines prior to my transfer until I asked during my actual transfer. Too late. He and my case manager neglected to pay attention to the fact that my allergies were flared up to the point that steroids were needed to treat them. I never should have moved forward with my first FET, which proved unsuccessful. The success rate for a PGD tested donor embryo is 70%, according to the clinic and genetic testing company.
He's [Dr. Evan Rosenbluth] a good doctor, but the nature of the business is that you need to be the squeaky wheel in order for the doctor or other staff to pay attention to you and your case. Otherwise, expect for things to fall through the cracks and mistakes to happen. Especially speak up if your case manger is not returning your calls or emails in a timely manner...Phone calls and emails were not responded to in a timely manner. Adriana was overworked and neglected to communicate important information to my egg donor. She also told her incorrect information, which caused my donor anxiety during the egg retrieval process. For example, she told my egg donor she would only be given a twilight anesthesia and not be put under. This was not the case. She was given general anesthesia. Adriana also gave incorrect medication instructions to my egg donor. The errors and inconsistencies almost caused my egg donor to back out of the whole process. Adriana did not give my donor confidence that the clinic knew what they were doing.

Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My egg donor was given a straightforward protocol of Menopur, Follistim and Gonal F. 27 eggs were retrieved, 21 were mature. 15 eggs were fertilized, 6 were frozen. Out of the 15 eggs, 7 made it to Day 5 or 6 for PGD testing. Out of the 7 embryos, 5 were normal.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
RSC is made up of 4 locations and many doctors, nurses and staff, all of whom cover for one another on any given day. Thus, the opportunities for miscommunication are great. The staff seem overworked and poorly trained. For example, when I went in for appointments, they accidentally called my egg donor's name instead of mine. Consistent protocols do not seem to be in place. For example, Dr Rosenbluth was not aware of protocols for the egg donor process and gave me incorrect information about whether my egg donor should be present in certain meetings or not. The records department also neglected to transfer my medical records to my obgyn after I filed more than one records request.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
They were lower than rates at UCSF. I know that from a friend who also did donor egg with PGD testing. Though my costly could have been lower since my egg donor was a friend of mine and I didn't have to pay an agency fee.

Where to begin. This was a nightmare experience for me. After the numerous errors with the egg retrieval of my egg donor, who is my friend, and a failed FET, I wanted to change clinics, but couldn't, because it's not good to transfer embryos to another clinic with different freezing and thawing protocols. So I decided to change doctors within RSC to Dr Wachs, who turned out to be even more disorganized than Dr Rosenbluth and a worse communicator. She's the Medical Director of the Egg Donor Program for RSC, and it's obvious why the department is so disorganized. Doctors are good at clinical diagnoses, not with running an organization. I asked to change to another doctor within RSC after realizing Dr Wachs and I were not a good fit, but Dr Wachs wouldn't allow me to do so. She tried to refuse to treat me and pass me off to Dr Amy Evazzadeh, who only used RSC's labs, because she knew I could not transfer my embryos, but I refused. I was going to try for a natural cycle transfer next, which could involve opening the lab on the weekends for me and I knew this was unlikely if the doctor did not work for RSC directly. Dr Wachs was afraid I was going to sue the clinic, when in fact I was only trying to get the treatment I deserved and paid for. I had to write up two negative yelp reviews for them to pay attention to me. Yet the errors and miscommunications continued. I am lucky my second transfer worked, but it was not without a lot of anxiety about their competence.
He is thorough. He's been involved in a lot if research and it shows. He can clearly explain things and is frustrated (in a productive way) when he doesn't know why results are a certain why he didn't expect. When my case became more complicated he asked other doctors at a major conference for insight (to clarify, this was because it was so rare, not an indication that he isn't knowledgeable.
Well run, has an off hours number you can call. Very regimented in hours for appointments, which can be tough to coordinate with work. They are tech friendly (email, etc) and are friendly. Billing can be a headache, but frankly, I cared far more about the lab and doctor quality, and was willing to handle the billing issues (which were resolved, after several phone calls back and forth).

When my case became more complicated he asked other doctors at a major conference for insight (to clarify, this was because it was so rare, not an indication that he isn't knowledgeable. I was impressed and appreciative that he went and did this on his own, after asking my permission). I was feeling very defeated after our third loss (again, first under his care) I told him I was scared this was never going to happen for us, and he told me he didn't think we were there yet and that he would tell me if we were. He was right. He handled curveballs very well and whenever we cycle again, he will be managing my care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Tell him what you want. Explain your concerns and ask questions, because he will answer.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Evan Rosenbluth at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
They cared about how I was doing. When I had my third loss (first under their care) there was a plan enacted to not only find out why it happened, but how to address it in the future. They (Dr. Rosenbluth and my nurse Valeri) were available, listened to my concerns, and answered my many questions. He followed up on research I had done and listened to what I wanted to do for my treatment, and if we disagreed on something, he explained his view (and his experience/research) and we came to a decision together. This was not the experience I had elsewhere and I truly feel he listened to me and viewed me as a human being.
Describe the protocols Evan Rosenbluth used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Antagonist protocol (downreg with birth control, follistim, menopur, ganirelex, baby aspirin, antibiotics before ER, Valium before transfer for fresh cycle. Estradiol, Endometrin/pio (added pio during bleeding episodes in first trimester). 11 retrieved, 9 mature, 1 day 5 blast transferred, 6 day 6 blasts frozen. Day 5 blast resulted in a miscarriage, transferred 2 frozen embryos several months later, resulting in a singleton live birth.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Valeri)
Valeri is amazing. Answered all my questions, sent me an organized calendar, got me over my fear of self-injecting PIO, and camel me down during a very scary first trimester with bleeding. She's the best.

Dr. Rosenbluth is caring, although at times he can appear to be blunt and can be direct in his responses...Dr. Rosenbluth was very clear with me from the beginning, that due to my age, I had very low chances of success. And due to my age and ovarian reserve, he was not willing to do an IVF cycle unless I used a donor egg..Even though Dr. Rosenbluth did not agree to IVF with my own eggs, he agreed to let me try two cycles of IUI with him.
The clinic in Orinda especially needs to be updated, the facilities are outdated. I feel like RSC is more concerned with their statistics, and will not take on patients past a certain age without using a donor egg...The scheduler messed up my surgery date several times. As a result, I had to take birth control pills and had to wait almost a full cycle to reschedule my surgery...Jennifer (Alvarado and Patterson) were very professional and quick to respond to any questions or concerns. They were caring and concerned about my well being.
