[Dr. Gaya Murugappan] is very early in her career and she doesn’t know how your process (egg freezing) is going to go till the end...Second cycle started with clomid which resulted in more eggs...missed seeing/telling me that there was something in my uterus which another doctor pointed out...poor bedside manners and is extremely immature
Everything was great [at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley]. Care, scheduling, flexibility, reminders - everything was perfect. Nurse and support staff were also super helpful. Clinic is very neat and well organized. Patients are seen very systematically...Support team compensated for an extremely bad experience with Gaya
How was your experience with Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Gaya is very early in her career and she doesn’t know how your process (egg freezing) is going to go till the end. In my case, after the first cycle her reaction was like oh this is lower number than I expected. Then second cycle she started off the cycle differently which she could have done properly with first cycle. She also missed seeing/telling me that there was something in my uterus which another doctor pointed out. She’s not a very comprehensive doctor and is understandable as she’s so early in her career. I’ve heard others treated by her have a low success rate as well.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Consider other fertility doctors. I’d give her another 5 years for her to mentally mature
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Gaya has very poor bedside manners and is extremely immature. She’s probably in her md-late 30s and it shows in her mannerisms and conversations that she’s not there yet as a professional/experienced doctor. She’d be ready to run always while seeing you during an appointment. She can be very dismissive. Experience and EQ not there yet to be a well rounded doctor to handle complicated cases
Describe the protocols Gaya Murugappan used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
First egg freezing protocol seemed pretty standard with usual doses but didn’t yield as many eggs for someone with lower reserve. Second cycle resulted in more eggs.

would recommend Dr. [Murugappan] if you have an easy case and need a straight forward treatment...was very kind and gave "warm and fuzzy" feeling...made no change after we were getting poor results...continued with the same exact treatment plan for 6 egg retrieval cycles (2 were cancelled)
[Spring Fertility Silicon Valley] very organized and available when I had questions...fairly easy to make appointments at my requested times and little wait time...have nothing but good things to say about the nurses and care coordinator. They were wonderful and always available to answer questions and talk if I needed to.
How was your experience with Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I would recommend Dr. M if you have an easy case and need a straight forward treatment. She was very kind and gave "warm and fuzzy" feeling, which is sometimes really important as this is such an emotional process. However, I started to get frustrated and worried when she made no change after we were getting poor results. I asked repeatedly whether there should be any change or if there was anything else to consider in my case, and she said no and continued with the same exact treatment plan for 6 egg retrieval cycles (2 were cancelled). I finally went to another doctor to get a consultation and based on my medical records, she recommended in my first visit to test for endometriosis (along with other tests), which came back positive. Endometriosis is known to cause poor egg quality and this was never discussed as even an option with Dr. M. I am very upset that she never had a conversation with me about any "outside" factors to consider. It is estimated that 60% of infertility patients have endometriosis, so this should have been on Dr. M's radar and I have no idea why it wasn't brought up. I am angry about this and feel it caused me to waste time and insurance benefits. I have since treated my endometriosis and just completed another egg retrieval to make embryos in which we were much more successful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Advocate for yourself and if you are getting repeated poor results, switch doctors.

Started cycles with 300 Gonal-F and 150 Menopur, plus omnitrope most cycles. Priming meds changed over the course of 6 stim cycles including Aygestin, estrogen, and lupron. Over the course of 4 retrievals, have 9 day 3 embryos stored (but some are quality).

I have nothing but good things to say about the nurses and care coordinator. They were wonderful and always available to answer questions and talk if I needed to.
Describe your experience with Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
I found the clinic to be very organized and available when I had questions. It was fairly easy to make appointments at my requested times and little wait time. Regarding weaknesses, I think the only thing I would note is that that success rates for the Silicon Valley clinic within Spring Fertility are no where near as high as the other locations via SART data. When I first looked it up, Silicon Valley clinic data was not available as they are the newest location and I assumed it would be just as good as the other locations -- which was wrong. Through the course of my treatment, the data became available and success rates for Silicon Valley are much lower compared to SF and other locations, at least at the time of this writing.

Describe Gaya Murugappan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Stanford University.
Prior to seeing [Dr. Murugappan] I had 3 failed FETs (negative pregnancy tests) and 3 failed egg retrieval cycles (no normal embryos). We thought our journey for adding to our family was over...she had reviewed my entire history and knew all the failures I had been through. Her first comments to me were full of empathy and for the first time in my 5+ yr infertility journey, I felt heard.
[The nurses at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley are] Absolutely amazing. They treat you with respect and show immense patience; answering all questions ( even if you ask the same ones over again)... I felt like my voice was heard- from the patient coordinator to the nurse to the main doctor. I never felt like I was rushed...They are open to dialogue with patients.
How was your experience with Gaya Murugappan at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
I came to see Dr. Murugappan when I had given up all hope. Prior to seeing her I had 3 failed FETs (negative pregnancy tests) and 3 failed egg retrieval cycles (no normal embryos). We thought our journey for adding to our family was over. I went to see Gaya based on a friend's recommendation who had mentioned their approach was different. During my first visit with Gaya she had reviewed my entire history and knew all the failures I had been through. Her first comments to me were full of empathy and for the first time in my 5+ yr infertility journey, I felt heard. I went into treatment not knowing what to expect. My first cycle did not result in any eggs. I was disappointed but decided to give it another go. The second round we made changes during the protocol and even during the transfer and this resulted two PGT normal embryos. TWO! After years of being told I could not even make one! I was beyond surprised. The team at Spring is cutting edge. They are open to dialogue with patients. Because of Gaya, we now have a healthy living baby. Not only is she great at what she does, she is a very relatable and approachable doctor. Someone you can trust always knows your file and treats you with care and respect.

Walking into Spring Fertility is like walking into what modern day healthcare should be like. I spent 3.5 years with my first clinic before I switched and the experience has been night and day. They are cutting edge. Their team treats you like a human and not a number. Only weakness I would say is I paid out of pocket for my fertility treatment and they are not the cheapest option. However, if you are able to pay the higher amount, I absolutely would.

She goes above and beyond to make her patients feel seen and heard during the entire fertility treatment process. We went on to experience an unexpected second-trimester pregnancy loss, and the compassion Dr. Murugappan displayed during such a challenging time really helped us heal.
