Gaya is very early in her career and she doesn’t know how your process (egg freezing) is going to go till the end. In my case, after the first cycle her reaction was like oh this is lower number than I expected. Then second cycle she started off the cycle differently which she could have done properly with first cycle. She also missed seeing/telling me that there was something in my uterus which another doctor pointed out. She’s not a very comprehensive doctor and is understandable as she’s so early in her career. I’ve heard others treated by her have a low success rate as well.

Consider other fertility doctors. I’d give her another 5 years for her to mentally mature

First egg freezing protocol seemed pretty standard with usual doses but didn’t yield as many eggs for someone with lower reserve. Second cycle resulted in more eggs.

I would recommend Dr. M if you have an easy case and need a straight forward treatment. She was very kind and gave "warm and fuzzy" feeling, which is sometimes really important as this is such an emotional process. However, I started to get frustrated and worried when she made no change after we were getting poor results. I asked repeatedly whether there should be any change or if there was anything else to consider in my case, and she said no and continued with the same exact treatment plan for 6 egg retrieval cycles (2 were cancelled). I finally went to another doctor to get a consultation and based on my medical records, she recommended in my first visit to test for endometriosis (along with other tests), which came back positive. Endometriosis is known to cause poor egg quality and this was never discussed as even an option with Dr. M. I am very upset that she never had a conversation with me about any "outside" factors to consider. It is estimated that 60% of infertility patients have endometriosis, so this should have been on Dr. M's radar and I have no idea why it wasn't brought up. I am angry about this and feel it caused me to waste time and insurance benefits. I have since treated my endometriosis and just completed another egg retrieval to make embryos in which we were much more successful.

Advocate for yourself and if you are getting repeated poor results, switch doctors.

Started cycles with 300 Gonal-F and 150 Menopur, plus omnitrope most cycles. Priming meds changed over the course of 6 stim cycles including Aygestin, estrogen, and lupron. Over the course of 4 retrievals, have 9 day 3 embryos stored (but some are quality).

Mostly covered by insurance. Any "add-ons" were explicitly discussed and price was given.

Although she may not quite be my best friend yet, Dr. Murugappan demonstrated the ideal combination of expertise and kindness in every consultation and procedure. My expectations of the whole process were actually exceeded, thanks primarily to her!

I was on a very basic hormone treatment plan in preparation for egg retrieval/freezing. Everything went according to plan, and there were no hiccups.

The first protocol we tried didn’t work for me. She adjusted the treatment plan for our 2nd and 3rd round of egg retrievals. Both rounds, we got a few embryos frozen. Our first frozen embryo transfer was successful. I am 5 month pregnant! We were very happy with the outcome.

She goes above and beyond!! From expeditious scheduling to comprehensive care and thoughtful discussion of all potential issues related to my primary concern I felt very cared for. She is knowledgable, personable, and compassionate and any patient would be lucky to have her as their infertility specialist.

I came to see Dr. Murugappan when I had given up all hope. Prior to seeing her I had 3 failed FETs (negative pregnancy tests) and 3 failed egg retrieval cycles (no normal embryos). We thought our journey for adding to our family was over. I went to see Gaya based on a friend's recommendation who had mentioned their approach was different. During my first visit with Gaya she had reviewed my entire history and knew all the failures I had been through. Her first comments to me were full of empathy and for the first time in my 5+ yr infertility journey, I felt heard. I went into treatment not knowing what to expect. My first cycle did not result in any eggs. I was disappointed but decided to give it another go. The second round we made changes during the protocol and even during the transfer and this resulted two PGT normal embryos. TWO! After years of being told I could not even make one! We did two egg retrieval cycles to produce enough embryos to achieve our two children family building goal, and the first embryo transfer went pretty well that results in a success pregnancy.

I feel so grateful to have been in Dr. Murugappan's care (my husband and I were pursuing PGT-M). She goes above and beyond to make her patients feel seen and heard during the entire fertility treatment process. She has incredible medical training and knowledge as a clinician and researcher, so I always knew that I was receiving top-notch, evidence-based care. She has excellent procedural skills as well - I always felt in the most capable of hands from scans to retrieval to hysteroscopy to transfer. Dr. Murugappan was full of compassion, kindness and medical knowledge that she presented in a super understandable way. She made me feel that we had discussed all options for maximizing my chance of a successful pregnancy and that we opted for the path that suited me best. She was genuinely invested in my having a good outcome and trike caring. Each early pregnancy ultrasound I was worried about miscarriage and she was sensitive and understanding of that. When I had a miscarriage, she was so kind. Ask lots of questions and don't be afraid. This is a huge investment and your body. If something seems off, speak up! She and her care team will answer any questions.

She gave my first ultra sound and saw something abnormal in my right fallopian tube. She advised to get HSG testing. She gave me information about the growth of the follicles.
