Dr. Ambartsumyan is knowledgeable, helpful, clear with explanations, and has a witty sense of humor as well. She answered all of my questions thoroughly. I did not get to meet with her beyond my consultation thus far, but I would recommend her to future patients...can speak fast and go through her explanations quickly
The nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group are kind, compassionate, and courteous. I typically see a different nurse each time I go depending on their availability. They also do a great job of responding promptly to messages left on voicemail...sees A LOT of patients since they're one of the only fertility clinics in the area, which can make it feel a bit like a fertility "mill". However, they do their best to treat each patient with care and compassion, and in a timely manner.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
The consultation goes quickly, so make sure to come prepared with questions ahead of time and take notes because Dr. Ambartsumyan can speak fast and go through her explanations quickly. Also, there are multiple steps to remember during the IVF process, so asking for a written timeline/calendar would be helpful.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. Ambartsumyan was kind, funny, knowledgeable, and kept the conversation light-hearted. She answered all questions and explained the process in detail, but also had to go over everything somewhat quickly. However, this was likely due to having a large patient caseload since my previous doctor had just left the practice and Dr. A had to take on several new patients as a result. Since my consultation, I, unfortunately, have not seen Dr. A during my visits to the clinic and have been treated by other doctors or nurses.
Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
Prior to seeing Dr. Ambartsumyan, I completed three IUI cycles with the clinic. They had me take Clomid during all three cycles for 5 days in a row to stimulate the follicles prior to IUI treatment. During the second round of IUI, I was also given a trigger shot to stimulate ovulation. During my consultation with Dr. A, she recommended that IVF would be the next best option since the three rounds of IUI did not produce the desired results. I am currently in the process of IVF treatment.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
The nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group are kind, compassionate, and courteous. I typically see a different nurse each time I go depending on their availability. They also do a great job of responding promptly to messages left on voicemail. The appointments are typically quick, so I have not had much opportunity to establish rapport or a connection with the nursing staff, but they have always been kind and responded to all questions/requests. One thing I had to request that would have been helpful for them to provide is a visual timeline/calendar of appointments during the IVF process and what to expect during each appointment so that I can plan ahead.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Reproductive Partners Medical Group sees A LOT of patients since they're one of the only fertility clinics in the area, which can make it feel a bit like a fertility "mill". However, they do their best to treat each patient with care and compassion, and in a timely manner. The wait times can be long if you go later in the morning (I have waited for 45 minutes to an hour for a five-minute appointment before), but they can get you in and out pretty quickly if you go in the early mornings as soon as the clinic opens. They are quite efficient, but their quickness can also make it difficult to have enough time to process all of the information given and be prepared to ask questions in the moment. I have left wondering about what my next appointment would entail, or how much the cost of each appointment would be until I was done with it and went to the cashier. When you call the clinic, you get the receptionist, who then has to transfer you to the nurses' voicemail where you leave a message. If you aren't available to pick up their phone call, the nurse usually leaves a detailed voicemail, but you may end up playing some phone-tag. Overall, I have had a great experience with RPMG, but could have benefited from additional consultation from my doctors through the IUI and IVF treatments. For doctors and nurses who do this for thousands of patients, it seems like a normal process that doesn't need additional thought, but for someone going through it for the first time, extra support could really help.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Ultrasound appointments typically cost $180/appointment; $20 for an ovulation test; $95 for bloodwork; between $26,000-27,000 for the full IVF treatment.
Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
I did not receive much information about this as I am not far along enough in the IVF process. However, Dr. Ambartsumyan did mention that the clinic typically will do a single embryo transfer rather than transferring multiple embryos.
What specific things went wrong at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
During my first round of IUI, the clinic called to inform me that my partner's lab results for certain tests were missing and that they weren't able to deliver the IUI treatment. This was very upsetting as I was anticipating my IUI treatment the following day. My partner then forwarded all lab results to them and they still said they did not have the test results they needed. Eventually, we were able to work out the issue, but I was originally very disappointed and would have appreciated the call much earlier so that we could have figured it out sooner.
Dr. A[mbartsumyan] always made me feel good. I did not see her all the time, because they rotate and it depends on your cycle and if they are in that day. But she followed my journey closely regardless. She has very involved and always knew what was going on in a given cycle. She asked the right questions, and she was very thorough...I credit her with being able to see that something was off and pointing in the right direction. If she would have been in-network I would have stayed with her as I trust her 100%.
The staff [at Reproductive Partners Medical Group] was nice, overall, but I kept getting emails from different staff and it was hard to know who to communicate for what...Long wait times. Be ready to wait for 1-2 hours past your appointment time. They are usually running behind as they see a lot of people. Their hours are flexible and they are there 7 days a week and usually earlier than their official opening time.
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
She knew something was off. I have a VERY low AMH but my follicle count is high, so there is a big discrepancy. At this point in time, my infertility was "unexplained" but because she is very thorough she kept saying she saw something off in my sonograms during my 1st IUI and recommended a Hysteroscopy if it did not take. My insurance covers basic diagnostic tests like Hysteroscopy but not fertility treatments and her clinic was out of network, so I decided to go with my regular OBGYN for the procedure, she could not find anything during the hysteroscopy. I came back to Dr. A for a second IUI and she said it was still there and that if this IUI did not take she recommended we went back in. My insurance later changed to include fertility but I had to go to a different in-network Dr. who knew Dr. A. With the guidance of Dr. A's notes and explanation of what she was seeing That Dr. was able to find a 1cm Sessile Polyp. I am now pregnant, and even if it was not directly with Dr. A, I credit her with being able to see that something was off and pointing in the right direction. If she would have been in-network I would have stayed with her as I trust her 100%.

Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
We did 3 cycles of letrozole. The first one we had to cancel because I developed Thyroid issues and we had to wait for it to resolve, it took 7 months. In the second cycle, we did an IUI with letrozole and no trigger shot (at my request, but looking back I should have done a trigger). She saw something and we took a break for a Hysteroscopy performed at another clinic. In the 3rd one, we did a natural cycle, as I forgot to take my meds, but I still grew a follicle and ovulated on my own so we tried it. Both failed, probably because of the polyp which was not removed until my 2nd hysteroscopy at yet another clinic.

-Sonograms were around $160
-IUI was around $350-$400
Dr. A was highly recommended by a couple friends. She is very nice. I had a different experience and my interactions with her were limited...I rarely ever saw Dr. A myself. I saw 4-5 of the other providers in the office and it almost felt like no one really knew what was going on. A lot of times information was given through the portal or on paper which didn’t really allow for questions by the physician.
I truly did feel like a number at this facility [Reproductive Partners Medical Group]. After a year and half of going there, only one nurse knew my name by sight. I think a lot of people have found success here but if you are on a tight budget and have only one try, I would recommend a smaller clinic where the care can be more tailored to you...This felt like a common occurrence at this office. Miscommunication or lack of communication.

Dr. A was highly recommended by a couple friends. She is very nice. I had a different experience and my interactions with her were limited. I think I saw her at most 4 times during my time at this office. With my first transfer, the covering provider was the one who went over all of my paperwork. He didn’t explain as much and didn’t seem to want to answer my questions. He just kept recommending to transfer 2 without real explanation. I didn’t see Dr. A until the day of transfer.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
She is a very nice physician and seems to be highly recommended but expect to see multiple providers at each visit. There will be multiple MAs and a few ultrasound techs that you will see more than Dr. A

With my second transfer, I did a mock cycle first. When the nurse was going over instructions, she only gave me papers with instructions. I reviewed it and followed them. When I came back for an ultrasound another nurse asked me for the exact time of my first progesterone injection. I told her it was around 7-8 but she said I needed to know the exact time. She asked why I didn’t know their exact time. I told her I was never told. This felt like a common occurrence at this office. Miscommunication or lack of communication.

How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. Ambartsumyan is amazing at what she does. She made sure she listened to my concerns and previous experience. This is important as a woman of color, trying to get physicians to understand my needs. I did high-stimulation medication at another clinic and shared how I felt. She changed my treatment protocol from the previous clinic, and I had better results. She did her part, eggs fertilized and were frozen on day 5. She encouraged me to do genetic testing because I had a good number of embryos, and she wanted to ensure we had some information on which embryos to transfer. It is costly but was worth the investment emotionally and financially. I couldn’t see it at the time, but she called and explained the importance of it.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Every staff member creates a warm, comfortable, and welcoming patient atmosphere. From the check-in with (Maricela) to the front desk (Olga and Regina), all the nurses, Kym, Alex, Kristin, Chelsea, Marilyn, Amanda, and Mackenzie, are excellent. You can request who you want to see, but they are all great. Ultrasound tech Julie is amazing and knowledgeable. Shavontae is the Physician Assistant, and she is there to answer any questions or concerns. She is a great asset when you can’t get in with your doctor. She knows their protocols. Kat, the phlebotomist, is gentle and cheerful. Farrah is your last stop at checkout, and it is a lot of money to spend, but she will answer all your questions. You will always be met with a smile under a mask and a positive attitude. Sometimes there is a little wait, but it is worth the energy.
She [Dr. Gayane Ambartsumyan] is knowledgeable and recommended IVF right away after 1 natural pregnancy and miscarriage and we did not have the money for IVF...We did 3 rounds of IUI and got pregnant on the first IUI attempt but it resulted in another miscarriage for me... I think they overbook and it takes long time to see the doctor.
It [Reproductive Partners Medical Group] is a busy clinic and with each visit I saw a different nurse. On our 2nd IUI cycle, our blood work had expired and the nurse did not catch that in time so we were not able to proceed and had to wait another month to complete the IUI...It was interesting how the nurses are not assigned to particular patients but can help and see whoever came in for the appointment that particular day. This leaves room for human error.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Each $550 for day of IUI procedure and $175 per ultrasound visit plus $45 or so for Clomid per cycle. Miscarriage ultrasound was $185, I think.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
I felt disappointed when I took clomid and was ready for my second IUI when I found out my husband and my bloodwork had expired the week prior. We were not informed of this information and it cost us money and just stress and undue anxiety.
Dr. Ambartsumyan is smart, caring, and good at her job...I really liked Dr. A, but in hindsight I was not really ever informed on next steps, why things were done the way they were and in what order. I had to make appointments to meet with her in her office, which of course are more $, more time, and would prolong treatment or future cycles bc I had to wait 6 weeks to get those appointments...she is too busy. On several occasions, I made separate consultation appointments with her in order to ask basic questions. Often there wasn't time during appointments to ask questions, or, as is common and human, you think of the question after the fact and getting in touch with her was very difficult.
[Reproductive Partners Medical Group] Nursing staff were effective but stoic. I didn't see much compassion, but I also didn't experience anything negative from them. They do their job, but it isn't tailored; I feel I was treated like everyone else...Overall communication isn't good. Although physicians would ask if I had questions, it was the follow up that was poor. You can't expect patients to even know what to ask...There were miscommunications or lack of communication between doctors and cryolab
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. Ambartsumyan is smart, caring, and good at her job. I shifted to her as my primary because I initially saw Dr. Lee, who was never there and not a very good dr-pt communicator. Initially I was almost always scheduled with Dr. Huang, who did not treat me as one of his patients. He talked at me and not to me. I really liked Dr. A, but in hindsight I was not really ever informed on next steps, why things were done the way they were and in what order. I had to make appointments to meet with her in her office, which of course are more $, more time, and would prolong treatment or future cycles bc I had to wait 6 weeks to get those appointments.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
I would recommend to a prospective patient to do your research and demand time for yourself to ask questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Overall, from the clinic, I was just a number. Dr. Ambartsumyan didn't treat me like that per se, but she is too busy. On several occasions, I made separate consultation appointments with her in order to ask basic questions. Often there wasn't time during appointments to ask questions, or, as is common and human, you think of the question after the fact and getting in touch with her was very difficult. Staff are major gatekeepers. The clinic is too busy. Dr. Huang, the times that I met with him, was dismissive, in a hurry, and made terrible decisions on my behalf at critical times during my treatment, all when Dr. Ambartsumyan was on vacation or otherwise not at the clinic. Additionally, Dr. Huang ordered me a 4th IUI - I know now that that was completely unnecessary and IVF should have been recommended.
Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
Dr. A tried several different strategies with me, but I can't tell you what they're called. Prior to requesting Dr. A, I had 4 IUIs. I had rogue follicles that would cause early ovulation. My IUIs gave good information going forward. So, during my first attempt at IVF, I told Dr. Huang (in Dr. A's absence) that I would need a trigger shot. Of course this is weeks into the cycle of medications - injections, pills, etc., He declined and said it wasn't necessary. Of course I prematurely ovulated which ended the IVF cycle. I knew I had ovulated prior to my next appt and told Dr. Huang what had happened and that I knew it would happen. He said, "Oh, that's ok, we'll just turn it into an IUI." After 4 IUIs, I knew this would be futile. After that experience, Dr. A changed her approach. The second attempt was a successful retrieval, but we opted to do genetic testing on our embryos and the lab said they were unhealthy. Then we chose to use donor eggs thereafter.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Nursing staff were effective but stoic. I didn't see much compassion, but I also didn't experience anything negative from them. They do their job, but it isn't tailored; I feel I was treated like everyone else. That is not a bad thing.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Overall communication isn't good. Although physicians would ask if I had questions, it was the follow up that was poor. You can't expect patients to even know what to ask. I began coming prepared with a long list, and even then sometimes I felt dismissed or that I didn't need to know the answer. I also think the communication is not good between "departments." There were miscommunications or lack of communication between doctors and cryolab (which resulted in delayed treatment as we waited for lab results or actions) as well as mistakes and misses between nurses and office with making sure our paperwork regarding embryos was current and well-documented. After I decided to end treatment, I was treated very poorly by front office gatekeeper when we were still being charged for embryo storage even though we had been told the embryos were unhealthy and we had requested, multiple times, to destroy them. The cost of storage was the least of all costs involved, but it was a matter of being ignored, dismissed, and demanding I pay and then not allowing me to speak to anyone in billing or to my doctor or the lab to help me address/fix the issue.

So many, but unfortunately as one goes through something like this, you learn a lot in hindsight and realize your instincts were correct.
My experience with [Dr. Ambartsumyan] was limited. There was an initial consultation, emailing, and the IUI which last a couple of minutes. The ultrasounds were usually conducted by someone else. I felt [she] was generally busy and tried to be responsive over email. In the end because she did not address a previous concern she had noted, I lost some trust...I remember [her] saying that because my AMH was decent, we were not in a huge rush

To get a better sense at the beginning what you can expect in terms of questions and support during the process, what is reasonable to ask of her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
I would say that my experiences in the clinic made me feel like a number, sometimes rude nurses or what felt like indifferent staff. My initial consultation with Dr. Ambartsumyan was positive. I felt she was gentle during the IUI process. After my first IUI which did not result in pregnancy, and some back and forth over email, her last email response was to do another IUI even though she had previously noted that my Hsg test showed possible uterine polyps. I felt that there was not a lot time to discuss my concerns and the message was just to keep trying.
Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
I remember Dr. Gayane saying that because my AMH was decent, we were not in a huge rush. She did break down the statistical average for getting pregnant at my age. I don't totally remember why she recommended IUIs over IVF or if when it's a unexplained infertility if it's standard to start there, also because it is less expensive.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
I remember dealing with different people at different times. There was a miscommunication issue where we missed our chance to do our IUI during our first round of CLOMID. Dr. Gayane waived the cost of one visit when I requested that. I did not find the nursing staff particularly warm. It was more of straightforward processing of whatever procedure was needed.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
They seem to have a lot of experienced doctors, and a solid success rate. I did not feel the receptionist or nurses were warm or supportive. I simply felt that I was being processed like the next person. Because this process is so emotionally wrought, I realized I needed to work in a place that offered that extra love.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
I paid $55 for office visits, $105 for ultrasounds. Between visits and drugs, the cost of an IUI was about $800, which includes ultrasound, insemination and sperm wash the day of, and previous visits.

There was a miscommunication where the clinic thought I had not agreed to do an IUI when I had, so when I came in to do a follicle check and inquired about this, they requested new test results from my partner that I could not deliver immediately as needed.
Dr A [Ambartsumyan] explained every procedure clearly, took time to learn the specifics of my case and answered any questions I had. She even gave me her cell number to ask for anything, though I never really had to... I went for 2 consultations covering IUI, and later IVF when it was clear that IUI was not working. She was not treating me at every office visit of my IUIs, but she would always ask me how it’s going and to keep my head up when she saw me in the hallway.
Awesome nursing staff! I saw many different nurses at this clinic [Repro Partners], but everything was so seamless, it seemed like I was seeing the same person every time. They knew my history, answered my questions consistently and helped me if I had messed something up or didn’t understand something. They must be keeping very good records, and kudos for that!...The waiting room is clean, there’s coffee and tea and the staff is nice. The main downside is that the waiting times are always very long; expect to spend over an hour just for a simple ultrasound that was scheduled in advance.

We were TTC for 5 years (Female 37, Male 42) when we decided to try a treatment. Dr A suggested IUI, to increase the chances of the egg and sperm to meet. She put me on 5mg Letrozole, starting on CD 5, for 5 days. I had minor aide effects from the meds, but only the first time. They explained how to do LH surge test at home, and to call them as soon as I detected it to have the IUI the next day. The same protocol was used one more time, and after that a substitute doctor decided to start the stimulation on CD 3 instead of 5. Out of all 4 cycles I produced 1 egg/follicle two cycles, and 2 eggs/follicles the other 2 cycles. Alas, no pregnancies, so I had to move on to IVF :(

The main downside is that the waiting times are always very long; expect to spend over an hour just for a simple ultrasound that was scheduled in advance. Once you get in you will be treated very nicely, and everything seems to be done very professionally, but you have to wait for it. It’s worth it though!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
I did only IUIs here, which were about $800-900 per cycle. I only took oral medicine for stimulation (Letrozole), so no significant extra costs there. The IUI procedure itself is $525, and I had 2-3 ultrasound visits for $160 each. Fairly reasonable, but not a particularly effective procedure.
The IVF cycle on the other hand was going to cost me about $25,000, so at that point I started looking for more affordable clinics.
Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
I have not done IVF here, but as I understand they strongly prefer to implant 1 embryo at a time.
[Dr. Ambartsumyan] listens to your concerns and will make adjustments in treatment if reasonable. She is always able to provide the latest research information about all the topics I ask about...She started me on 50mg of clomid with ultrasound monitoring throughout my cycle to monitor follicle count and size. When I did not surge on my own, she prescribed a trigger shot to make me ovulate and we had timed intercourse
[nursing staff of Reproductive Partners Medical Group] Some were very informative when I had questions. Others gave incorrect information and confused both my husband and I...In general, most appointments never start on time. This is a very busy clinic so while it is frustrating, I've learned to just expect to wait an hour before being seen...$250 for initial consult, $150 per ultrasound appointment, $500 per IUI.

Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
Because I had been tracking my temperature and testing for LH surge for 8 months I had enough data to share with Dr. A for her to suspect I had anovulation. She started me on 50mg of clomid with ultrasound monitoring throughout my cycle to monitor follicle count and size. When I did not surge on my own, she prescribed a trigger shot to make me ovulate and we had timed intercourse. 2nd & 3rd cycle she increased the clomid dosage to 150mg because my follicles were still slow to grow in the first cycle. Timed intercourse for both these cycles. I had a lot of side effects from the clomid and Dr. A recommended trying Letrozole. I did 2 cycles with 7.5 letrozole with IUIs. Now we are waiting for the COVID-19 situation to improve so we can resume treatment.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
It really depends on the nurse. Some were very informative when I had questions. Others gave incorrect information and confused both my husband and I.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
In general, most appointments never start on time. This is a very busy clinic so while it is frustrating, I've learned to just expect to wait an hour before being seen. This made me nervous for our IUIs but the Dr performing the IUI assured us not to be worried.

That being said — they are very busy presumably because a lot of people are choosing them for their reproductive care. And the wait times are long because the doctors give every patient the time they need...you must be your own advocate, as I found that the nurses are overwhelmed and can let things slip through the cracks if you do not stay on top of your treatment plan.

There were a few instances where the nurses said something would happen (like a calendar of when to take medicine, and which type to take) would be sent to me, and it never happened. Or I was told to take medicine in the evening when it turns out I was supposed to take it in the morning.

Love that she also believes in a holistic approach to infertility journey and encouraged us to continue with our acupuncture specialist.

Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
With DOR we wanted to initially avoid over suppressing with birth control. Unfortunately our first cycle with estrogen priming we developed a cyst and went forward with BC for two weeks before our first retrieval. She did a combination of gonal F, clomid, menopur and Lupron our first cycle. It resulted in 5 eggs retrieved and 2 day 5 blastocysts. As that transfer resulted in a chemical pregnancy, our next cycle she changed it to no BC and started medication early in our cycle. This time we did higher dosage of gonal F, menopur, cetrotide, HGH and our trigger shot. It resulted in a quick growing cycle and retrieved 6 of which 3 were day 5 blastocysts that all tested genetically normal. Before our next transfer we completed an ERA and did additional screening tests and confirmed the MTHFR mutation and high NK cells. While we’re treating for MTHFR with a diff folate supplement, no adjustments have been made for the high NK cells.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Nursing staff is a mixed bag. All are caring but they aren’t all trained the same and have different levels of organization. There have been times where they haven’t properly filled out insurance forms or have tried to give me standard protocol vs doctor requested tailored approach.

Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Doctor was quite open to our decision. When untested we did 2 and she was comfortable with that. We have not decided on how many to genetically tested embryos to transfer. Do believe the clinic in general supports eSET but is open

She has called me or texted me in the evening on multiple occasions when she could have been spending time with her family. Weakness - billing office does not answer the phone or call you back, billing system is difficult to decode and understand, cancelled cycle fees are charged
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
I have had a long and rough road with treatments. Dr. A has not given up on my desire to use my own eggs. With a low anteral count, it has been a challenge. She employs patience during my very long cycles upwards of 120 days and does everything possible to avoid canceling a cycle. When regrouping after a failure, she is always coming up with a new protocol in the effort to find something that will work. She is even open to suggestions from me and is always telling me to read about my infertility problems and to do my research.

Dr. A [Ambartsumyan] has always gone out of her way to make sure we are comfortable, we understand everything we will be doing and she sets time aside to talk to you when she’s at home. She wants to make sure we’re okay. She greets us personally in the waiting room, and won’t allow us to leave until she’s certain that we understand and that we are all on the same page, in terms of other options we have moving forward. She gets to know us as humans, not just patients.
We love the clinic [Reproductive Partners Med Group] but hate the wait time. It’s obviously going to happen though when you, along with everyone else, loves the clinic and the doctor’s they are working with. That’s probably the only complaint.... We have always had such a great experience with everyone in that office. We are now on a first name basis with pretty much all of the staff and everyone is always so warm and welcoming. We can sit and chat with the financial woman all day.

I’ve tried endometrium and estrace three three times a day for the first two transfers. During our third, I started PIO injections and stuck with estrogen three times a day. As we prepare for our fourth, we are looking to do, PIO, endometrium, estrogen, a steroid and Intralipid infusions. She believes that my body rejects pregnancy so she is sure that using the infusion and steroid will shit my immune system down and accept the embryo this time around.

I believe each transfer, we have set up a package that included ultrasounds, blood work and actual transfer that has totaled $2,900. Our embryo testing was about $1,000, hysteroscopy was around $300-500 and mock cycle was around the same. Medications ranged from $700-1,000.
Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
We have done eSET for all three because of the risks that come along with multiple pregnancies, which we have understood and respected. This time around, our fourth, we will be transferring two, which we love the idea of.
Dr. A [Ambartsumyan] spoke in a way that made me feel like she empathized with me. She briefly spoke of her own fertility problems and her bedside manner should be commended. Little things like putting her hand on my shoulder and saying sorry, or offering to have consultations via phone call in the evening (which worked best for us) - Dr. A helped us to feel some normalcy during these unusual and u comfortable circumstances.
They [Repro Partners Med Group] are super flexible with appointments - I’m a teacher and need early appointments, and I’ve never had a problem getting in and out. They save early appointments for that reason! I’m never waiting long in the waiting room, and after going to this clinic for a while, I like that I get welcomed by name when I sign in.... Nurses always return phone calls by the end of the day. They seem organized and are quick to answer questions and fill prescriptions.
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. A went out of her way to contact us about further plans of treatment. Since we work all day, she called us from her home at 9pm. She had my file in front of her and was prepared to talk - we spoke for almost an hour! I’ve never had a doctor do that before. We also noticed that she left detailed notes in my records so that other doctors treating me when she couldn’t were fully knowledgeable about our specific treatment plan. When I came to Dr. A, I had had several cycles not work with previous doctors. She immediately sent me for blood work to get her own judgement and make her own decisions - she looks at the big picture.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Ask any questions you have - Dr. A won’t stop until you fully understand, and there’s no such thing as a stupid question.

Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
By the time I got to Dr. A, I had done several Clomid and Letrozole cycles and had had one unsuccessful IUI through the use of injectables. When I came to her, she studied my records and decided to start from scratch - we did new blood panels and talked about results. Dr. A started me on a higher dose of Letrozole and we started again. I had an unsuccessful IUI with that one which led her to send me for a tubal dye test. She discovered I have a kinked Fallopian tube and I am now awaiting a laporoscopy procedure to see if it can be unkinked or removed. Our next step is IVF.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Nurses always return phone calls by the end of the day. They seem organized and are quick to answer questions and fill prescriptions. One time, however, I had received my IUI sand a nurse gave me a big hug and said “It feels like it worked!” I had just received the insemination so I felt uncomfortable. That cycle didn’t work. She also was supposed to give me an antibiotic to prevent infection, but handed me Tylenol instead. Luckily I was ok.

Dr. A [Gayane Ambartsumyan] is exactly what I want out of an RE. I’ve struggled with infertility and now repeat pregnancy loss, and she has shown great care, compassion and concern for me. I like that I always see her if she’s in the office (if she’s not in, I see one if her peers - I always see an RE, and they always do my ultrasounds and other procedures)... IUI 1-2: no meds IUI 3-4: 50mg of Clomid IVF #1: antagonist protocol (300iu Follistim, 150 Menopur, Cetrotide, hCG trigger) IVF #2: Long Lupron protocol (Lupron, 300iu Follistim, 150 Menopur, .5ml Omnitrope) IVF #3: Minimal stimulation protocol (100mg Clomid, 150iu Gonal-F, .5ml Omnitrope, Ganirelix, hCG trigger) IVF #4: Same protocol as IVF #3
The clinic is very busy. Wait times can be long, but that’s because you see a doctor at each visit, and they actually spend time with you answering questions, talking about concerns, etc. Treatment is expensive, but you’re paying for quality. Everyone is top notch...including the front office staff and billing.

Wait times can be long, but that’s because you see a doctor at each visit, and they actually spend time with you answering questions, talking about concerns, etc. Treatment is expensive, but you’re paying for quality. Everyone is top notch...including the front office staff and billing.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
It’s very pricey. I had insurance coverage for my first two rounds, but exhausted it. My minimal stimulation cycles each cost $6500, plus $3000 for PGS testing. FET was $1900, with my insurance being billed for all monitoring appointments and bloodwork.
Dr. Ambartsumyan was a good fit for me. She was a good combination of practicality and optimism, always encouraging but not without making sure our expectations were realistic. ..Dr. A was especially devoted, providing her personal phone and email contacts. She would always respond within 24 hours or sooner (sometimes replying to emails in the middle of the night or early morning hours)...Dr. A recommended a estrogen-priming cycle, I believe because of my diminished ovarian reserve.
Some of this clinic's strengths are 1) it has a small practice feel and 2) it's comfortable and updated but not overtly pretentious. I do think that although it seems like a small practice, the clinic is taking on more and more patients. I say this because of some longer waits I experienced...RPMG shared its nursing staff across doctors...Treatment costs were straightforward and clear. My consultation was $324 including ultrasound...They were always warm and friendly and accommodating.
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. Ambartsumyan was a good fit for me. She was a good combination of practicality and optimism, always encouraging but not without making sure our expectations were realistic. For example, Dr. had indicated that I would likely not produce many eggs during my atom cycle. I knew that up front so I never felt discouraged when my scans only showed 6 follicles. However, I was very excited when Dr. A retrieved 12 eggs on retrieval day. Dr. A was always bubbly and personable, easily making conversation. She was always mindful of our time and schedule as we commuted 2-4 hours one-way (depending on traffic) to visit the Rendo Beach office.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Be open about concerns and have them addressed instead of worrying about them alone.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. A and the entire staff made it a point to address me in a way that made me feel they were familiar with me and my medical history. They were always warm and friendly and accommodating. I know they have many patients, but I always felt I received the time and devotion I deserved. Dr. A was especially devoted, providing her personal phone and email contacts. She would always respond within 24 hours or sooner (sometimes replying to emails in the middle of the night or early morning hours).
Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
Dr. A recommended a estrogen-priming cycle, I believe because of my diminished ovarian reserve. I was on a specific birth control pill before starting. Then transitioned to estrogen. The last part of my stim cycle included Follistim and Menopur followed by Ganirelix and Pregnyl. My stim medications were increased during monitoring. I produced 12 eggs, 10 of which fertilized via ICSI. 4 embryos arrested; a few had to grow longer than expected. 6 were sent for PGS, including a 5AC embryo that did not meet the clinics standard. 2 of the 6 were found to be chromosomally normal--a 5AA the 5AC. After this freeze-all cycle (and after my embryos underwent PGS), I was on birth control for a month or so. Then I went on estrogen at the beginning of my frozen embryo transfer. Luteal phase support included Endometrin. Since we were transferring a PGS-tested embryo we were happy to follow Dr. A's suggestion that she perform a eSET.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
At the practice I went to immediately before Reproductive Partners Medical Group, each doctor had his own nursing staff dedicated to him and his patients. In contrast, RPMG shared its nursing staff across doctors (and even clinics for staffing reasons). I found RPMG's nursing staff to be much better at communicating. Every single nurse was clear and detailed in communicating the doctor's protocols. The nurses tasked with making sure I had the correct medication on time were cognizant of the financial pressure fertility treatments can place on a person. That being said they always gave suggestions for how and where to get the best prices and would fully pursue discounts I found on my own. The clinic was organized with the nursing station open and centrally located. The staff always demonstrated a high level of professionalism toward me and toward their colleagues. I always felt calm going into the clinic because the staff and doctors were calm (no matter how busy they were).
Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Some of this clinic's strengths are 1) it has a small practice feel and 2) it's comfortable and updated but not overtly pretentious. I do think that although it seems like a small practice, the clinic is taking on more and more patients. I say this because of some longer waits I experienced (especially on weekends) and from staff indicating they had more patients. Even when it was busy, the nurses and the doctor did their best to move patients along without sacrificing face-to-face appointment time. On a particularly busy day, I even witnessed Dr. Andy Hoang assist the nursing staff by prepping rooms and calling patients back himself. I appreciated that and felt it spoke to Dr. Hoang's commitment to the practice and his patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Treatment costs were straightforward and clear. My consultation was $324 including ultrasound. Each ultrasound outside of my stim cycle was $195 and labwork was approximately $60. The global fee for my freeze-all egg retrieval cycle was approximately $14k including the PGS biopsy, ICSI and assisted hatching. The cost of PGS payable to Igenomics was approximately $2k. A mock transfer/ saline sonography was performed before the transfer and cost $720. The frozen embryo transfer cost approximately $1600. Medications for the stim cycle and FET cycle totaled approximately $5400 (and includes Progesterone support after positive pregnancy test.
Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Our situation seemed straightforward. We wanted to avoid multiples. Having our embryos PGS-tested gave us peace of mind when deciding on the suggested eSET. Had they not been PGS-tested, I don't know what our doctor's suggestion would have been. I do think our decision on the number of embryos to transfer would have been much more difficult.
What specific things went wrong at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Failed to call with results
Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
These issues were minor and did not diminish my confidence in the clinic. On one occasion I saw a different doctor, Dr. Lee, and on entering the room and greeting me, he indicated that I was in a different phase of my protocol than I was. When I corrected him, he quickly revised his initial comments making me feel comfortable that, although he wasn't my regular doctor, he had educated himself on my medical file. On another occasion at the end of my treatment, I had to call to request my lab results. The lab work monitored my estrodial and progesterone levels as they weaned me off Estrace and Endometrin. Usually the doctor or nurse called within 1 to 2 days with results. On this occasion, I had my labwork done (by a separate lab) on Thursday and when I didn't hear from the clinic by Monday, I called them. I don't think this information was as critical as results would have been during the stim phase of my treatment.
She [Dr. Gayane Ambartsumyan] was very particular about my uterine lining. At the end of each visit she set expectations for how she wanted to see my lining in 1 week. She was very conservative with her numbers, but it helped me to be more realistic. If she said she saw the lining at 6 mm she would write down 5.5 because she wanted to give some wiggle room to allow the additional medicine to make a difference. She would see me each week and if something needed tweaking she would suggest it. Instead of doing the same thing week after week with no results, she would have me take baby aspirin or use a heating bad to stimulate blood flow or add prenatal vitamins. When my ERA biopsy came back post receptive, she added 2 extra days of progesterone instead of 1 to make sure that next time i was tested the results would be better, and they were! She is a problem solver and always delivers on her expectation of providing results.
The clinic [Reproductive Partners Medical Group] is very organized and prompt with returning phone calls. All of the nurses work closely together and will consult on a single patient if need be. I would prepare for a lot of testing as a new patient, and they do get busy on weekends and during the lunch hour. I did have to look after them to get back to me on billing, but i was able to get it resolved.
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr A as a person is funny and treats me like I've been coming to her for years. She always says hello to me even if I am just stopping by for lab work and do not have an appointment with her. When I had to see another doctor and was worried about how he would read my information, she made plenty of notes in my file and asked him to contact her if further clarification was needed. I finally felt like I was making progress when I started seeing her as my primary doctor. She regularly calls me after appointments, even sometimes after 5 p.m. She spends close to 10 minutes on the phone and listens to me if I have worries or am nervous. She does not care if she has to repeat herself or if i ask for further clarification. She is so caring and attentive and makes me feel like I am important and strives to make this entire process as painless as possible.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
I would tell them that Dr A is absolutely wonderful and they are lucky to have her with them during the sometimes rocky road of infertility.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr A made me feel like a person because she showed genuine sympathy and compassion. She is always smiling and brings a postive feel to my appointments. After my first appointment with her, she called me to personally follow up and clarify what she was trying to accomplish by ordering a specific set of tests/labs. By just taking the time to make sure I understood and felt comfortable with her approach, I had a completely different outlook on this whole process. Before seeing her I felt lost, frustrated, and confused. Now I can honestly see a light at the end of the tunnel and am happy to say I trust her completely. I don't know what i would do without her to walk with me on this journey!

Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Partners Medical Group. (Assigned nurse: Maria)
Maria Is just like a great friend who happens to work at my clinic. She always calls me to give me status on lab work, genetic testing, when my eggs arrived, or to ask me questions. She is always very responsive via email or phone and will return my voice messages the same day. I firmly believe that a doctor's best weapon is a responsive and caring nurse team and i am so grateful for Maria and her diligence and follow-through!

Costs have been considerable as my insurance is not accepted at RPMG. All has been out of pocket
Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
i have not yet had that conversation with dr a as my eggs have not yet been thawed and fertilized.
Dr Ambartsumyan has a caring manner.... I think some of the processes could have been explained better, for instance during our IUI treatments Dr Ambartsumyan was on vacation and we saw other doctors but I was not told that she was out of town and thought this was just the way the clinic ran... We did 3 IUIs with clomid because we had some male factor (morphology and motility) no pregnancies. IVF retrieval, antagonist protocol as i had high AMH and seemed to have good egg reserve based on other parameters.
The nursing staff [Reproductive Partners Medical Group] was nice but I was not assigned to one particular nurse which makes it harder to provide continuity in care.... Be prepared to have your mind boggled trying to figure out the actual cost. They did directly bill anything they could to insurance like consultations which was convenient. The front desk staff were very nice. We often waited a long time for appointments.... They offered a risk share program through a 3rd party vendor you could join if you qualified. They also offered some kind of program through the clinic that if you were unsuccessful after the second ivf retrieval and using all embryos you would get the third cycle free
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr Ambartsumyan has a caring manner. Our results were not as good as we had hoped given the number of eggs retreived and i may not have been as straightforward a case as originally anticipated. It was alluded to that I might have poor egg quality which caused me a lot of emotional distress. While this could still be true I would have appreciated a more transparent assessment of the role that the hormones can play in egg quality especially since the first retrieval involves a bit more guess work as to how your body will respond to treatment. We decided to get a second opinion and do another retrieval before doing a transfer. My assessment at a different clinic was that I had probably been overstimulated on all IUIs and IVF and had a much better embryo result on my second retrieval at another clinic. In fairness Dr Ambartsumyan had also said that she would give me less medication if I did another retrieval.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
If you don't understand something to speak up.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
Dr. Ambartsumyan has a good bedside manner. I felt the clinic in general was a bit confusing especially for a first time infertility patient.
Describe the protocols Gayane Ambartsumyan used in your cycles at Reproductive Partners Medical Group and their degree of success.
We did 3 IUIs with clomid because we had some male factor (morphology and motility) no pregnancies. IVF retrieval, antagonist protocol as i had high AMH and seemed to have good egg reserve based on other parameters. High number of eggs retrieved, poor fertilization. Had some embryos to freeze, one ok quality blastocyst, one not so great blastocyst and two that were not yet blastocysts. We did not do a transfer and still have the embryos frozen.

The nursing staff was nice but I was not assigned to one particular nurse which makes it harder to provide continuity in care. I think some of the processes could have been explained better, for instance during our IUI treatments Dr Ambartsumyan was on vacation and we saw other doctors but I was not told that she was out of town and thought this was just the way the clinic ran depending on who was on that day, but actually it seems you will see your primary Dr for everything under normal circumstances.

The financial consultation was confusing and our consultant was not very compassionate. Be prepared to have your mind boggled trying to figure out the actual cost. They did directly bill anything they could to insurance like consultations which was convenient. The front desk staff were very nice. We often waited a long time for appointments. Newbies should make sure they ask questions if anything doesn't seem right.

They offered a risk share program through a 3rd party vendor you could join if you qualified. They also offered some kind of program through the clinic that if you were unsuccessful after the second ivf retrieval and using all embryos you would get the third cycle free (may have also been some qualification requirements). The IUIs were cheaper than they would have been at some other clinics because our insurance policy covered ultrasounds.
Describe Gayane Ambartsumyan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
Seemed to be based on the situation, we could have done two embryo transfer if we wanted to based on the quality of blastocysts we had to transfer.
Dr. Ambartsumyan is an entire level all together. The attention to detail and more importantly the compassion she shows is fantastic. I wish more doctors, in any type of practice had 1/10th of the compassion that Dr. A shows.
I have already referred two couples to Reproductive Partners and they are in the early stages of the IVF process as well. The day we "graduated" from Reproductive Partners was bitter sweet for us. We were leaving a group of people that allowed [my wife] and I I to live our dream of starting a family, however the people that Reproductive Partners handed us off too (reco'd) have been amazing.
How was your experience with Gayane Ambartsumyan at Reproductive Partners Medical Group?
After our first (and only transfer) Dr. A would text or call [my wife] twice a week to check in on her. Made us feel at ease. If [my wife] had a question or concern, she was also able to text Dr. A on her personal cell phone and she would get back to us as soon as she could. Our high risk OBGYN (Dr Gutkin) and delivery OBGYN (Dr Rodriguiz) are very similar to Dr. A. Very transparent, always letting us know what is going on. If not for finding Dr. A and the Reproductive Partners, its hard for me to imagine how the 9-12 months of this process would have played out.
I will ALWAYS recommend Dr A and Reproductive Partners. Nobody better.

Maria was our usual point of contact as far as our daily nurse goes. She was great and made [my wife] and I feel like we were in good hands.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Partners Medical Group.
[My wife] logged on to my employment medical insurance site (United Healthcare Oxford) and found that Reproductive Partners accepted my insurance - which meant a HUGE HUGE savings for the us as far as the entire IVF process goes. Everything was fully covered (with the exception of the embryotic testing we elected to do). From the first day we went to Reproductive Partners we felt like we belonged. Every single person that works there is amazing.
Dr A makes sure to review all your current and previous test results, scans, etc. She [Dr. Ambartsumyan] doesn’t let you leave her office with doubts. She makes sure you have a clear understanding of what your treatment will be. She also makes sure to follow up with you in case you get seen with another doctor if she wasn’t on duty that day. ... When we encountered a couple of ovarian cysts she wanted to make sure that only was I taking the appropriate dosage of birth control to get them to dissolve, she scheduled a hysteroscopy to make sure all was ok internally.
I wouldn’t call this a weakness because it’s expected at doctor’s offices, but don’t get discouraged when you see their office [Reproduction Partners] packed. Strengths is that they are open all seven days and there is always a doctor on duty. The clinic is clean and the staff does a great job in keeping it nice. ... Dr. A was attentive and made sure you understood everything. She always made sure I was okay and that my health was #1 in order to make sure I could potentially get pregnant. She’s extremely busy but with all that she still makes you feel like your a human and not a #. Event though my miscarriage she was available and called me to make sure I was okay. They [Reproductive Partner Medical Group] are friendly and remember who you are. Only drawback is sometimes they do take a long time to respond and amount of patients at times is so many.
