She [Dr. Gayla Harris] is very smart and informative, but gives time for questions/feedback...After my first failed month due to overstimulation, she immediately reduced my dose and gathered a plan that went perfect, just did not result in positive pregnancy...She said she was encouraged that I confirmed the ovulatation by blood draw, and we are going to try the exact same cycle this month. If it doesnt work she is going to proceed with HSG to evaluate my tubes.

How was your experience with Gayla Harris at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center?
My husband & I drive 2 hours to see Dr. Harris, who was recommended by a friend who struggled with infertility. We only have 1 local RE in our town, and after the consultation I refused to go back to him. My friend said nothing but good things about Dr. Harris, So I gave her a shot & I am sure glad I did. From the initial consultation, I could see how intelligent & caring Dr. Harris is. I am on month 3 of treatment with her. After my first failed month due to overstimulation, she immediately reduced my dose and gathered a plan that went perfect, just did not result in positive pregnancy. She is a fast talker but gives time for you to respond with any questions. I am so thankful for her & am encouraged that soon we will get our miracle baby. I will do anything that it takes.

Describe the protocols Gayla Harris used in your cycles at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center and their degree of success.
Before visiting Dr. Harris, my OB tried 3 rounds of clomid-50mg, 100mg, and 150mg. All unsuccessful. Dr Harris started me out at letrozole 7.5mg but it unfortunately provided 4 large follicles. She only allows maximum of 3. So we unfortunately did not get to proceed due to the risks. So the following cycle she backed down my medicine to 5mg, I had 2 good size follicles, performed 10,000units Pregnyl Trigger shot, ovulation confirmed via progesterone blood draw. Took 200mg progesterone vaginally until i took blood pregnancy test which was negative. She said she was encouraged that I confirmed the ovulatation by blood draw, and we are going to try the exact same cycle this month. If it doesnt work she is going to proceed with HSG to evaluate my tubes.

[Dr. Harris] always made a point to talk to her patients her self, not having someone else call me. I had surgery with her and had a rough pacu recovery and she called me personally the next day to check on me. She always returned my calls if i had questions in regards to my course of treatment....
[East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center is] very small clinic with no staffing reserve if staff were out, front desk receptionist is somewhat scattered.....only had one nurse, and when she was sick or out there was no nurse. Nursing didnt do much, only vitals and then any communication about cycles, meds, plans came from the physician....

I loved her, warm bed side manner, but also cery to the point of the conversation. She did often talk ery fast, making it hard to follow at times, but i have a medical background and kept up. My husband would struggle to keep up, but she always answered any questions we had.

Describe Gayla Harris's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center.
Dr. Harris is a very fast talker. It sometimes was confusing what she was talking about and why she was talking about something. She did try to explain procedures thoroughly but since she talked so fast it was hard to keep up sometimes...The letrozole was because my older age had me at “risk” of multiples with clomid so that “risk” was lessened on letrozole. Progesterone was given because my progesterone was too low. She redid the dye test to check if a blockage had developed. I did not conceive during this time.
I did not see a nurse [at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center] aside from my first visit...She [Dr. Harris] did everything herself!...Not sure how it is now but the phone numbers need to be updated to the right ones. I remember being told that the number on the business cards was not the right number so make sure any results were faxed to another number. My wait times were not long despite Dr. Harris doing everything herself.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center.
I think Dr. Harris did bring a nurse on because she was suppose to call in my prescription but it wasn’t at the WalMart pharmacy. I called to figure out why and was told she emailed it instead so they would get it first thing. Walmart pharmacy put a rush on it and I was able to get it within 20 mins but I would’ve called to double check. The nurse got very defensive saying “I did order them on-time so it’s a problem on their end!” I did not see a nurse aside from my first visit.
I did hsg and it showed blocked tubes, she [Dr. Gayla Harris] told me she thought she could open them in surgery, I did surgery which she removed endometriosis...and told me she got the dye through my tubes and we had a six month window so start trying immediately...5 months later tried iui and it didn't work so after that we done another hsg and it shows blocked tubes...She explains everything to its fullest, she's been eager to get me pregnant but my body isn't willing. She has tried everything under ivf but now ivf is my only option and I'm excited to do that. I have friends that go to her and have had successful pregnancies from her
The staff [at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center] are all extremely nice...I haven't had a whole lot of interaction with them [nurses] but the times I have, they were great...The clinic is small but just right...It's never crowded and that's what I like the most. I never felt rushed...With it not always being extremely busy I know I won't be there forever waiting because I am too impatient

I did hsg and it showed blocked tubes, she told me she thought she could open them in surgery, I did surgery which she removed endometriosis and cyst that were in my fingers and told me she got the dye through my tubes and we had a six month window so start trying immediately. The next 2 months I was on femera 2.5 then up to 5 mg. When I was still getting negatives we combined clomid with femera and went in for ultrasounds along with trigger shot. 5 months later tried iui and it didn't work so after that we done another hsg and it shows blocked tubes.

We were unsure of Dr. Harris in our first visit because she is a little quirky. However, we could tell right away how knowledgeable she is and how dedicated she is to what she does. We quickly warmed up to each other. She has always treated us with kindness, compassion, and respect. We trust her completely.... Dr. Harris handles all of her patients herself...we see her each time we go in. She treats me as an individual...not just as another run of the mill patient. She is kind and caring and appropriately funny.
The strengths [of East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center] are that it's small and the staff knows you. Dr. Harris and her team are extremely dedicated. I can't think of any weaknesses.... Amanda is the only nurse in the practice, so you really start to feel as if the small team is family. She is compassionate and caring and makes you feel like a person, not a number.

Low AMH=clomid. Developed cyst, wouldn't go away=cyst removal. Femara for one cycle. 1/2 Femara and 1/2 follistim for the next to up egg production (without hyperstimulating). Developed 2 cysts. Birth control for 2 weeks and then rescan before starting cycle on follistim. Trigger shot used each time.

Dr. Harris is forthcoming, knowledgeable, and fast paced. It's hard to keep up with her while she's speaking but if you can, you will learn a ton. She's very willing to give you all the information she can and increase your knowledge and understanding of the process, medications, risks, alternatives... All I've experienced is doing the exact same thing over and over...When I actually five minutes of her time she was very personable, caring, and informative
Without fail, I have to call for test results every time. One time they [East TN IVF] could not find them and had to get them from the lab again (via email I presume). I've gone to pick up prescriptions only to find they've not been called in. I've had to ask about specific blood tests they've mentioned I needed because they never scheduled them...Strengths are small staff, more intimate, female doctor who is very knowledgeable. Weaknesses are the fast pace, rude nursing staff

We used ovulation induction, mid cycle monitoring by ultrasound and timed intercourse. Ovulation was usually inducted by a round of femara and an HCG trigger shot. The rationale was that lack of ovulation seemed to be my biggest hindrance, due to PCOS. I ovulated each cycle but no pregnancy. We then had a HSG scan performed which revealed a blocked Fallopian tube.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center.
I believe Darlene is the office manager and she is personable, efficient, and gets things done.
The main nurse is Amanda. In person she is friendly, but over the phone is a different story. She sighs and seems upset if you try to ask questions, she tries to hang up before you finish talking. I had to ask her to check my chart to look at prior test results to see if the current results showed improvement or not, something she should have done automatically. I know it's a busy office but things are getting missed and I don't like being talked to like I'm a nuisance, especially when this is not cheap!

Dr. Harris was SO SMART and I trusted her completely. She did exactly as she said, diagnosed my issues correctly and got me pregnant (I delivered a healthy baby girl). My only issue with her was that I rarely understood what she was talking about and she wasn’t great at using layman’s terms with me...I had surgery to remove uterine fibroids (never caught be my OB-GYN where I had tried two rounds of Clomid with no ovulation due to my PCOS). After surgery, we did two rounds of Femara with an HCG trigger shot and timed intercourse (first round I DID ovulate, but no pregnancy, the second round was successful and ended in a healthy pregnancy and baby).
The office ladies [at East Tennessee IVF & Andrology Center] were AMAZING (Darlene at front desk and nurse Amanda) and remembered me and my family every time I came in. When I did get pregnant I felt like they celebrated with me...It’s just a small clinic, but it always seemed clean, friendly, and organized. Their equipment did seem a little outdated (particularly sonogram machines). They were great when about halfway through my treatment my insurance changed to one they did not accept and were patient with payment plans, etc.
