I just wish I actually got treatment from him more often. I usually always dealt with the nurses. I love how easy going and knowledgeable he is. He always gives us hope and encouragement when we do see him.

Be prepared with questions every time you go.

We did 3 cycles of IUI. I have PCOS and no other known issues so this seemed like the most practical approach. We started with Clomid and it took me 3 weeks to respond to it. So the next cycle we started with Clomid and then switched to Follistim because of the reaction time of my body. The last cycle we did all Follistim and I still had a 3 week reaction time. I did develop follicles every time it just took weeks. All 3 IUIs were successful but ended in chemical pregnancies.

I received First Steps so I was able to get my Follistim at a discount. The IUI itself was not that expensive. About $700 a cycle but my cycles were unusually long so it costs more.

We did not have IVF done.

Dr. Wilshire is very blunt, which I appreciate. He told me he thought our cycle could go either way but he had a plan based on our case. I appreciate that he was truthful and didn’t tell me that everything was great.

He’s going to tell you the truth so try not to get defensive if it not something you want to hear.

The first 7 days of my cycle we used follistim and the next 7 we used menopur and ganirelix. This is a good protocol for pcos which I found out through my own research and his approach matched what I learned. For our FET, we did a lupron protocol and it worked.

$7800 for IVF - fresh transfer plus labs and meds. $2000 for FET plus labs and meds.

I wanted a eSET and he was fine with it. I’m not sure what he does with other patients.

Going into our first appointment with Dr Wilshire, my husband and I had hopes that he would say that our situation wasn't as bad as we had been previously told. Unfortunately for us not only was he completely honest but also went into further detail about our infertility than our previous doctor had not. He then proceeded to tell us about everything the clinic offers, from the cheapest route to the most expensive. He gave us a lot of information to talk and think over. We are very grateful and blessed that we found Dr Wilshire and his team!!!

Be prepared for truth no matter how bad it maybe and a doctor that is extremely compassionate to the situation.

I was prescribed 100mg of clomid for 5 days then we went for our IUI and I then took progesterone. My ovaries responded. I got at least one follicle that would be big enough.

All out of pocket. Our insurance didn't cover anything.

Very personal and informative and answered all questions. Explained all options from the beginning. He was thorough with testing and also completed 2 laparoscopic surgeries as well as a d/c after miscarriage.

Know exactly what insurance they accept or dont except before recieveing any care. Also, advocate for yourself and always ask questions.

He suspected endometriosis and confirmed via laparoscopic surgery. He explained all medication and pricing available to us as well as IUI and IVF. We completed 5 rounds of IUI, 4 with clomid and 1 with injections that all failed. We took a year off and I lost 40lbs. We conceived naturally but miscarried at 10wks under Wilshire's care. He completed another laparoscopic surgery after a d/c to remove endo that had grown back and then completed a 7th IUI with that failed. Currently trying naturally due to finances.

He is very caring and compassionate. He explained things & was easy to work with. He has made this experience much easier than I expected. I was very comfortable every time I saw him. He explained things in a straight forward manner & answered questions without making me feel silly about what I asked.

Ask any questions you have. He will answer all of your questions clearly & let's you know all your questions are important

Dr. Wilshire is straight and to the point. I really liked this. When starting treatment he did not sugar coat anything and was quick to lay out the fact that I needed to lose weight to help the procedure be more successful. While straight and to the point Dr. Wilshire is very caring and has a great connection with his patients. You feel like part of a family with him.

Don't be surprised by what you might hear come out of his mouth.

Our strategy was to start with clomid, use an hcg shot, then move on to iui. The first treatment worked, I got pregnant, but was not able to carry. The second treatment was the same and worked like a charm.

The first treatment ended up being around 1,500. Second treatment was around 1,200.

Dr. Wilshire gave an empathetic ear to all concerns as well as a well rounded educational explanation of the whole process. He used scientific based evidence and years of clinical experience to give excellent recommendations.

Come prepared with all questions.

Clomid for egg development HCG injection for ovulation IUI for insemination Progesterone suppositories for sustainable pregnancy Multiple ultrasounds for checking for any abnormalities and pregnancy confirmation.

Payed for all fertility drugs either at the office or at a conveniently located pharmacy in the same building that had what we needed. My insurance covered all other cost associated with my care, however my husbands sperm collection was not covered and was a minimal out of pocket expense.

He is blunt and straight to the point, which was refreshing and what we needed. He is friendly and would sometimes lightheartedly joke. Dr. Wilshire treated me and my husband like his only patients and he shared our same goal.

He is blunt, but wants the same outcome as his patients.

I was on birth control for a month then went on follistim and gonirelix for about a week and a half. Then HCG trigger and followed transfer with endometrin.

The procedure cost $8,000 - medication and monitoring appointments not included.

It was our choice to transfer 1 or 2, but he did discuss the risks.

He has been amazing! Explains things well and honest! Hr gives the benefits and gives the risk. He is honest about weight loss to the honesty of what each procedure is. He is Not only my Sr but also my surgeon, I am thankful that I knew going in who and what!

Write down any questions so you don't forget!

Dr. Wilshire is big on single embryo transfer, he will do two, but recommends one at a time due to rhe high risk. He gives all the information and break down for the decision.

Dr. Wilshire has been very honest and yet still compassionate. When we meet with him, we feel like we are his only interest at that moment. There has not been a time I felt rushed. There have been times things are discussed with Dr. Wilshire that when it comes treatment time, seem not to have made it to the staff. However, no clinic will ever be perfect. Some error is to be expected.

While Dr. Wilshire has absolutely been the fit for us, there are some people that may not appreciate some of his characteristics, such as blatant honesty or method of delivery. If you want warm fuzzies at every step, and not nearly as much personality, go elsewhere.

He’s great. He’s extremely knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable. He’s very good at explaing how things work and helping with the statistics and probabilities. During our first visit he explained to us in great detail what was wrong and what needed to be done to fix it.

Don’t wear perfume, it closes his throat up and he has a hard time breathing.

I think it usually cost maybe $100 a Visit. In Austin TX our costs were $1,000 a month, and didn’t include medicine. Definitely more affordable in Columbia.

Dr. Wilshire made us feel at ease. Knowing that he had been through something similar to my husband and I was soothing. He was outstanding when it came to explaining the procedures and options.

Dr. Wilshire makes miracles happen, not just for my family, but for many of my friends families.

I cannot recall since that was roughly 3 years ago.

My husband's TESA was roughly $1,300. The total cost for the ICIS/IVF with transfer was $14,000. The majority of the costs were associated with the lab which was roughly $10,000.

I was anxious to see Dr. Wilshire, as all the previous doctors I had seen for my cyst on my ovary simply wanted to just go in and cut the cyst and ovary out and I wanted to save my ovary. Dr. Wilshire assured me he would do everything in his power to save my ovary, after surgery I found out the ovary had to come out, but I was confident that Dr. Wilshire tried his best to save it, and he was confident that even without it we would not have any troubles conceiving. He's extremely confident in his work and he know exactly what he is doing. I recommend him to everyone!

Trust him whole heartedly.

I saw Dr. Wilshire for a cyst that was too large and needed to be removed, but he also checked every aspect of my reproduction while he was performing my surgery and made sure everything was perfect to carry a baby to term

My only cost for the clinic was the copay and my part of the surgery, I felt it was perfectly reasonable

He is always honest and lets you know what your options or outcomes may be. If he's not certain he will tell you that. He always wants to make having your baby a reality and does everything in his power to make it happen.

Ask him whatever questions come to mind.

I have PCOS so the goal was always give me enough medications to respond but not so much that I hyperstimulate. Low and slow is his motto with me.

It was about average to what I've heard other people describe.

He was a little to blunt for me, didn't give us good news any time we have seen him. Now that's not his fault, but was hard to hear his brutal truth. Otherwise he's been good in the other stuff, surgery was good and think he has done his job well. I wish he was present a little more during some of the ultrasounds just so we could ask the doc questions instead of the nurses.

Be patient and call plenty ahead of time because it took awhile to get in to see him.

800 month for the cheapest IUI treatment and 150 for every ultrasound. 350 for his service for the surgery before insurance was billed.

I absolutely loved every time I was at the office. He has a great personality and is very through. He explained everything at a very understandable level with pics and I felt comfortable with him. We hit a couple road blocks but he was always positive.

Ask questions and listen to everything he says

I was told we are built to have single births so the first time we would only transfer one and IF there is a second transfer we will do 2

I wanted to be able to try naturally to have children, even though both of my tubed were blocked. I previously had another physician refuse to do the surgery. Gil explained the risks but still did what I as the patient wanted to do.

He's very open and honest. He's not one to beat around the bush.

As a couple my husband and I decided that we would only do clomid and then would stop trying with any other forms of medicine.

My insurance covered all of my costs.

Dr. Wilshire was very professional yet hilarious. He had a sense of humor which lightened our moods in such a stressful time for us. He was very thorough in his explanation as to what we could expect from him and what he expected from us. Even though our diagnosis did not go as we had hoped he still gave us hope in the end.

Ask questions.

My experience was great. I love his confidence and his candid statements. He gives it to straight but politely.

Remember Dr. Wilshire is only a physician, God almighty has the ultimate say in outcomes.

Evidence Based Practice

Going into IVF both my husband I were nervous but the process ended up being smooth and pretty simple. We are currently in early pregnancy with twins from our first transfer. We can't think the whole team more!

Maintain a sense of humor throughout the process!

A super quick blood draw and then ultrasound to check follicles and you were on your way

Dr. Wilshire is honest and open. If I had any questions he was very thorough when he answered them. He listened to my concerns and was very optimistic about my treatment. He knew on my first visit that I had something wrong and he was right.

He is honest.

He wanted to transfer 2 embryos. He said that the odds were higher if 2 were transferred and he was comfortable transferring 2.

He is a very knowledgeable doctor who didn't sugar coat things which is what we were looking for. After we got different test result he helped us figure out what to do next in a compassionate manner

Dr. Wilshire might not have a good bedside manner but it's improving. He does his job well and that mattered more to us.

Remember that he knows what he's doing and will help you no matter what your first impression is.

Each cycle was roughly $600.

Dr. Wilshire always takes the time to explain procedures and treatment options. He is very down to Earth and takes the time to know his patients. My husband and I are very thankful that we were referred to Dr. Wilshire.

My husband and I completed a round of IVF in 2023. I had complications that made the process longer than normal. Finally we scheduled transfer of one of our 2 embryos in September, 2023. The morning of transfer we were called by the head nurse and she stated that the embryo we were set to transfer was not looking good. She stated this was very unusual since they had both been frozen at a high grade. She stated we had numerous options. We could proceed and transfer the embryo that was not looking good. We could not transfer the planned embryo and instead transfer the other or we could transfer both embryos. We asked for any advice or help making this decision. We weren't given any direction. My husband and I decided to transfer both. It was less than a month later that I miscarried. The day I started bleeding I went and had blood work done at Wilshire's office. They called soon after and verified I was miscarrying. I NEVER received one call after that. For those who may not understand IVF, you are in those offices sometimes almost every day for weeks due to blood work and ultrasounds. We thought they cared at the time but looking back after the shock and grief over a year ago, we can see they (or maybe just Wilshire) are focused on the numbers and profit. Wilshire's office is disgusting. It's dirty. The ceiling tiles I looked up at from the procedure table looked like someone had projectile vomited on them. The corners had dust and dirt. We paid over $25,000 and the office was completely outdated and a cold, uninviting atmosphere. The biggest issue we have is that we feel we were not directed and counseled well that day of transfer. After the miscarriage I began to do my own research. I found studies showing that if you transfer a healthy embryo with an embryo that is lower grade it reduces the chances of the healthy embryo's success by 25%! It's heartbreaking to sit here and type that. If we had known that information, we never would have transferred both and maybe we would have a child today. I can see where they may state, "The embryo was just as high of a grade as the other when they were tested." Yes...when they were tested (right after they were fertilized, months prior to transfer). However, transfer day, they were not the same. They should have had the knowledge that the less healthy embryo could negatively effect the healthier embryo. We also feel that Wilshire jumps right into IVF. My husband's sperm quality and counts were very low and yes, at that state IVF was the only option. I wish they would have talked to us more about options to improve his fertility. I do want to say that the nursing staff and other administrative personnel at Wilshire's office are amazing. It seems that Wilshire is price gauging due to being one of two places in Mid Missouri that offers IVF. From what I've seen, the university has recently added to their fertility services but I'm not sure about waitlist and quality of their doctors and staff. You will hear a lot of people talk about Dr. Silber in St. Louis. My older sister had 2 successful IVF transfers from there. He was 30-40% cheaper than Wilshire. He also offers incredible discounts to military families whose ability to conceive has been reduced due to exposure or injury. Unfortunately, another reason Wilshire can charge so much is because it is incredibly difficult (but not impossible) for individuals in mid Missouri to complete IVF in St. Louis or Kansas City because of how many office visits it requires.
