Heather Hoff

Dr. Hoff is a sweet person and extremely compassionate. After each loss she called me personally and seemed to commiserate with me and really feel my pain. During my "wins" (one chemical and one miscarriage) we celebrated together my positive betas and was always willing to talk to us if we didn't have positive betas. I felt that she was really on my team when it came to my results. As far as the not-so-good, she was not very proactive regarding our treatment. We had to bring a treatment option to her that was not offered to us and was extremely simple (freezing sperm to mix with a fresh sample for an IUI). Only after doing my own research with my own labs did I discover that I likely have PCOS but this was never diagnosed by Dr. Hoff, nor was it ever brought up in any conversation I ever had with her. Dr. Hoff is an extremely positive person so all of our conversations centered around what could go right in the future, and not what was going wrong right now. It was comforting to have her reassurance but I think I really could have used more professional guidance on the actual problems we were having.

Be your own advocate and research your own treatment options. Ask "why" ALWAYS because she won't tell you or give you a vague answer. A lot of times the answer really is vague, but sometimes it's not....but you aren't given any details.

Before cycling I had a hysteroscopy and my husband had a SA to determine where we were. Hoff said my hysteroscopy results came back perfect, but when I looked in my surgery report it said that the biopsy result they took was not positive for inflammation, but contained "pre-inflammation" or something. I was never told this by Hoff as she said everything looked good so I believed her. My husband's SA came back a little less than perfect but she said it was adequate for an IUI even though it had less than 1% morphology. IUI #1-- I used Clomid and regular monitoring. The last monitoring appointment I went to they said I had already ovulated and instructed me NOT to use my Ovidrel trigger but to have sex that evening and then come in for an IUI next day. I did so and during my TWW I used Endometrin vaginally 1x a day. after my TWW I had a positive beta of 16. The next beta it fell to 5, resulting in a chemical pregnancy. IUI #2- Same exact protocol as IUI #1 except I did use my Ovidrel trigger this time. Husband's sample day of IUI was extremely poor. We asked Hoff about this and she said he may have had an infection three months prior. Results were a negative beta. IUI #3- Changed protocols by switching to Letrozole with another Ovidrel trigger. I responded well to the Letrozole. This cycle we brought up the option of freezing samples beforehand and mixing them with fresh samples to get better counts. This resulted in better counts but ended in another negative beta. IUI #4- Protocol was not changed at all and ended in a missed chemical pregnancy (positive HPT but negative beta.) IUI #5- Same as previous protocol. In November of 2018 I became pregnant naturally. I went to see Hoff for my betas and eventual scans. My progesterone was not at the level they wanted so they kept increasing it. Eventually I was on Endometrin 3x daily and oral progesterone 3x daily. No heartbeat ever developed and I had a miscarriage.

IUIs were about $1,500 each and meds were another $300-400.

No embryo experience with Hoff.

Not much to describe. Like I said before, she's a very nice woman who really convinced my husband and I that IVF was the route to go for success and then that was the last time I had a conversation with her.

Don't expect that she will call you with any info. Make sure you are following up after every appointment.

We started with Gonal-F and Menapur, both at 225ui. After a few days, we pumped the Gonal-F up to 300ui. Aspire never updated my prescription with my pharmacy, so I had to re-order more Gonal-F every other day. We did the injections for a full 14 days. Then it was time for retrieval. After that, it was just a waiting game to see if anyone would ever call us to let us know what is happening with our genetic material.

My schedule is pretty flexible so that was never a problem. There were days when it was a total cattle call. A few times, it was empty. I suggest showing up as early as possible.

Before we had insurance involved, we were quoted an estimate of about $20k, not including medication.

I was told that my uterus is too small and would risky to do multiple embryo transfers.

As a patient of Dr. Hoff’s, I always felt heard, I always felt like a patient and not a number. IVF is tough, both mentally and physically. Having a doctor who understands this means so much more than you’d expect. Dr. Hoff was always there to comfort me through the lows; the failed IUIs, the failed cycles, the endless injections. She was also there to celebrate our successes; like every single embryo, every good lining check, and of course a successful transfer. Dr. Hoff is a ray of light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Her smile is infectious and her voice will calm any nerves you may have. She’s kinda like your personal little cheerleader. I don’t think she could ever have a bad day and if she does she will never let her patients see. Her passion and adoration for this doesn’t go unnoticed. Her personality is something you have to experience for yourself.

If you’re wanting to see her often make sure you go to a clinic she is primarily at or schedule your appointments on days she will be at your clinic. I did not know when I scheduled with my clinic she was only there one day a week. However, that didn’t phase me much because I adored my nurses and the staff as well.

Starting out we agreed that IUI was our best option. We did two IUI cycles with letrozole and trigger. After our second IUI we decided to move to IVF as the IUI procedure was hard on my body and I didn’t react very well. We moved on to IVF immediately after our second failed IUI. I think we had a great protocol for IVF. Our stim cycle consisted of: menopur, cetrotide, and gonal-F. Our follicle count at retrieval was initially 26 eggs however they could over retrieve one ovary resulting in 13 eggs that led to our 3 embryos and our very successful transfer.

Before choosing our doctor we knew we needed someone who was accepting and understanding of the lgbtq+ community. Dr. Hoff went above and beyond for my partner and I in this aspect. She was always respectable of pronouns. When needing to choose a donor her recommendations for clinics were ready to go. If you are seeking treatment as someone in the lgbtq community look no further because she is the person you and your partner need.

Dr. Hoff was patient and kind, especially when I was at my worst (and crying in her office!). She did not hesitate to lend an ear or give a hug. I felt like she was just as invested in my IVF success as I was.

Be prepared to see other providers, the doctors rotate to multiple clinic sites.

I did 2 IUIs, 1 with Clomid and 1 with Femara, in conjunction with an Ovidrel trigger shot. My IVF cycle consisted of priming with estrogen and testosterone gel, followed by a microdose lupron protocol.

Monitoring appointments were quick and efficient with results/instructions uploaded to my patient portal by the same afternoon.

Timed intercourse cycle with Clomid: $800. Approximately $25K for IVF cycle, egg retrieval, and fresh embryo transfer.

She was open to transferring 2 fresh embryos (they were the only embryos resulting from my IVF cycle)

Dr. Heather Hoff is well educated with her medical specialty. She explained to us all the steps of ivf clearly. After consulting with her I understand my condition and that my dream of becoming a mother and having a family is possible with IVF. Before all I know is IVF is test tube baby, but now I can discuss to anybody the whole procedure because of Dr. Heather Hoff. Hence, I know I am really in good hands with her.

All I can advice them is to trust her and follow whatever advice she will be giving them.m for she knows what she is doing.

I went to her clinic on my first day of menstrual cycle and I had vaginal ultrasound. She told me that I am ovulating and my uterus are normal. The next step were blood work ups for fertility like TSH, LS,Progesterone etc. all are normal. Then she instructed my husband to give her sperm specimens, the value are normal and motility is good. The last procedure I had with her was hysteroroscopy with injection of blue dye. That surgical procedure confirmed that my Fallopian tubes are blocked and IVF is the only solution for my problem.

I have medical insurance my copay is 20% for my visits. Unfortunately, my insurance does not include fertility. Hence, the cost of ivf which is $29,000+ is expensive for me and my husband. This is the reason why I am doing the assessment now. Ten gran will be very helpful to us.

She recommended single embryo transfer for the success rate is high compare to multiple embryo transfer specially with age.

I really like how nice is Dr. Hoff. I am not sure the treatment always makes a lot of sense.. but maybe it is too early to tell. As a researcher, I tend to read many peer-review articles about fertility so sometimes I have hard time understanding some of the decision Dr. Hoff makes.

Make sure to ask for all the potential negative effects of using a drug or a specific treatment.

Last cycle we decided to use drugs to enhance the size of the eggs... my body did totally the opposite but Dr. Hoff still went ahead with IUI (even though my follicles were really small). In this current cycle, we are not using any drugs to get a sense of what my baseline is but we are dealing with a cyst likely due to the drug we used in the first cycle... so it is a little frustrating at the moment.

a Natural IUI cycle is 1400$, a drug-assisted IUI cycle is 1700$. None of these prices include drugs. I also had various procedure done at the clinic (dye and so on) which costs around 2000$.

Dr. Hoff was really helpful in explaining my AMH levels, my thyroid function and helping me understand what was going on in my uterus with regards to fibroids that I suffer from. She was kind and explained the next steps which in my case were a hysteroscopy and myomectomy.

Bring any previous medical history information and have a list of questions ready before you get there because it can be overwhelming trying to remember everything you want to ask and discuss.

I had multiple ultrasounds to check my AMH levels and look at my fibroids to determine the size and type. I also had bloodwork taken every time I was in office and they checked my overall health based on that. They also ran genetic tests.

She is a very kind, caring doctor. One of the best I have ever encountered. She is a thoughtful communicator and takes all effort to ensure you understand the plan of care. She is also very thorough with lab work and makes sure to check all necessary labs.

Just like with any doctor, come prepared for the appointment. Have all questions ready, because she does cover a lot of information and it is easy to forget the questions you had before the appointment.

IVF was ~$13,000 (not including medications) or ~$30,000 for a bundle for 3 cycles and unlimited FET. ~$4,000 for a FET.

Dr. Hoff was warm, welcoming and made me feel like I was in good hands. She ran a full panel on me to see how my overall health was and to check my AMH levels, thyroid and other fertility related tests. I am still in the process of TTC with my wife through reciprocal IVF but we know that with Dr. Hoff's help, we will be able to build our family soon!

Make sure you bring any prior medical records with you to help expedite the processes.

Dr. Hoff is kind and is very knowledgeable. She explains things well and answers all of our questions. She has a great bedside manner. When she performed one of my IUIs she made me feel encouraged and relaxed, unlink other doctors who make you feel like a number.

Dr. Hoff is an amazing doctor. Since day 1 she has been upfront and helpful through all my cycles. I am glad I have Dr. Hoff on my side as she only wants to ensure I reach my end goal- which is to become a mother.

Ask questions and be open to the information you receive.

First 3 cycles letrozole was used to ensure ovulation and I was monitored until the ovidrel shot was done. I had an IUI the following 2 days. Unfortunately those cycles did not work.

My insurance has paid for most of my treatment. An office visit through my insurance is $50. My IUI cost has been $300.
