We always felt comfortable talking to Dr Harris. He responded quickly by email to test results, answering any questions we might have. He walked us through what an IVF would mean, including giving us realistic odds of actually getting pregnant after 1 cycle. We decided to pause all fertility treatments for a month before we started IVF and shocklingly got pregnant in that cycle.

When I first met Dr. Harris at the consultation, he was very warm and optimistic...When I had trouble with being seen in his clinic during the retrieval cycle, he would try to reassure me and told me to contact him directly, but he never gave me any way to contact him directly. He would say "just email me" but never gave me his email address...That was it. No further contact. He never sought out the results of the transfer.
The ancillary staff [at Spring Fertility] was a source of stress. I always wanted the first morning time slot for monitoring appointments so that I could go to work afterwards. The nurse practitioner was late several times. If I need to schedule my appointment for 7am, it's because I have to be somewhere afterwards! The clinic nurse couldn't answer questions about the medications I needed to fill at a pharmacy (simple questions like the name of the medication) despite asking repeatedly.
How was your experience with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility San Francisco?
When I first met Dr. Harris at the consultation, he was very warm and optimistic. I had several cycles at another facility that did not go well, but Dr. Harris was positive that we could do better at Spring Fertility. When I had trouble with being seen in his clinic during the retrieval cycle, he would try to reassure me and told me to contact him directly, but he never gave me any way to contact him directly. He would say "just email me" but never gave me his email address. After transferring the only embryo fro that cycle, he contacted me once (2 weeks after the transfer) to say "congratulations" on rising betas but "still long way to go" and never contacted me again. That was it. No further contact. He never sought out the results of the transfer. I ended up having a successful pregnancy. The next time I heard from his clinic was 6 months postpartum. I asked to speak to Dr. Harris to let him know I was disappointed the clinic didn't seem to care to find out the results of the transfer. Dr. Harris suggested that I didn't check my email or reply to them (at which point they stopped contacting patients after 2 tries) -- none of which is true.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility San Francisco?
After the transfer, no one from the clinic followed up with me despite rising betas.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility San Francisco. (Assigned nurse: Nanette)
Nanette caused a lot of stress during my retrieval. She would never answer the questions posed in emails. When repeatedly asked for the names of prescribed medications, she would never include the names of drugs. I went to Walgreens trying to pick up medications for a cycle but couldn't tell the pharmacist which script I wanted. I almost came home with the wrong medication because the pharmacist tried to fill an old IVF script. I only realized when the number of pills was wrong.

He [Dr. Isiah Harris] is friendly, but very busy...I felt is a default protocol to everyone. Even sent medication by nurse per email without any explanation why should I take the pills. During the ultrasound never said anything I need ask all the time about the sizes and is the medicine was working well...He just does single embryo transfer

Describe Isiah Harris's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kaiser Permanente NorCal.
He was a very strong advocate of eset. We are glad we listened to him.
Even on his busiest days, Dr. Harris' warmth and curiosity about his patients can be felt the second he enters a room. He's as sharp as he is quirky, and makes a concerted effort to broach every conversation and next step with kindness and transparency...while it's easy to look back on a successful pregnancy positively, I believe what sets [him] a part is how he handled our "failures." He knows how to balance the necessary problem-solving aspects of IVF with the socio-emotional needs of his patients...
Spring's strengths include their ease of accessibility (ie, expanded locations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and east coast); their patient-facing learning and development opportunities; and their social media presence. There have only been a handful of hiccups we've encountered along the way (e.g., unclear timeline for further single gene testing results between Spring and testing clinic; delayed response from on-call physician in middle of night); but, none of these one-off issues had to do with our physician or careteam or do not reflect on our overall experience with the clinic.

He's made some of the hardest and most emotional periods of my life feel more manageable than I ever thought possible; and, while it's easy to look back on a successful pregnancy positively, I believe what sets Dr. Harris a part is how he handled our "failures." He knows how to balance the necessary problem-solving aspects of IVF with the socio-emotional needs of his patients (which can at times be incongruent). We truly feel we won the lottery with him as our doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Harris is really great at reading people and disambiguating esoteric medical termology; but, don't be afraid to speak up or ask questions when you have them. Overall, IVF can feel like a blur and even the most seasoned among us tend to forget the order of things. He'll never mind repeating information or writing down a process to help you see the big picture.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
We were drawn to Dr. Harris' compassionate and down-to-earth approach to treatment immediately. When we began our journey at Spring, we had the opportunity to meet several of the reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialists - who were all great - but we felt a stronger connection to Dr. Harris (who happened to perform all our IUIs, though he wasn't our primary doctor at the time). After our third failed attempt with IUI, I remember telling Dr. Harris almost immediately that I wanted him to be our primary physician. That decision was made - in part - because he openly shared he and his wife's process of pursuing IUIs; helped us explore realistic treatment options and expectations; and also took the time to get to know us, our interests, and goals in life beyond parenthood (and actively remember stories we shared along the way)--all of which humanized the experience.
As much as I pushed for my husband and I to seek fertility treatment, I felt incredibly apprehensive about pursuing IVF since, even with the best doctors, the process can be taxing on the patient; but, after 3 IUIs, 2 retrievals, a successful pregnancy, and confirmed genetic disorder post-partum, I do not think I could have continued with any other doctor but Dr. Harris. He truly gives his all to his patients, and made our decision to pursue 2 additional retrievals and genetic testing cycles post-partum an incredibly easy one.
Describe the protocols Isiah Harris used in your cycles at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley and their degree of success.
We gradually increased our level of medical intervention over 3 IUI and 3 IVF cycles (ie, ICSI / Aygestin priming). Dr. Harris had determined that fully controlling my ovulatory cycle made the most sense for our case and, ultimately, resulted in singleton birth.
We plan to follow the same treatment plan for our next transfer(s) when we're ready to try for a second child later this year.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley. (Assigned nurse: Michelle Chicas)
All of our nursing team(s) at Spring have been incredibly personable, responsive, and supportive throughout our IVF process; and, Michelle Chicas has been a constant resource and source of support even though she's no longer formally part of Dr. Harris care team.

Describe Isiah Harris's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
We had (naively) asked Dr. Harris about the possibility of multiple embyro transfer and he explained why Spring does not condone it.
That being said, he still took our question seriously and gave us an abbreviated lesson in the risks and benefits associated with both approaches. (Needless to say, with a now-one-year-old in the midst of a pandemic, we can't believe we even entertained the idea of multiples!)
Dr. Harris had a positive demeanor...passionate about what he does...truly cares and treats you like an individual...remembers your case and details, he’s thorough in his explanations...transfers were “natural”, using letrozole, an antibiotic, the trigger injection, and progesterone

How was your experience with Isiah Harris at Reproductive Science Center?
Dr. Harris had a positive demeanor and he’s passionate about what he does. He truly cares and treats you like an individual. He remembers your case and details, he’s thorough in his explanations, never makes you feel bad or stupid for repeating something or asking questions. He always gave me time to ask questions and never rushed me. It really felt like he was as excited as I was about good news and sad as I was about bad news. I also appreciated that he explains what he recommends and why.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Isiah Harris at Reproductive Science Center?
Don’t worry if you have no idea what infertility treatment options are or what they cost. The consultation alone with Dr. Harris was so helpful in learning about all of this and feeling more confident about making a decision.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Isiah Harris at Reproductive Science Center?
Dr. Harris puts you first, he cares about how you’re feeling, shows compassion, and he is there for your highs and lows. He celebrates the wins and is understanding when it’s not great news. After getting a negative result I was trying to not be emotional and just push through, but he reminded me it’s ok to not be ok and be upset about the results. He definitely recognized the mental and emotional toll infertility takes.
Describe the protocols Isiah Harris used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center and their degree of success.
I didn’t want to go straight to IVF and Dr. Harris thought I was a good candidate for IUI and IVF. I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We did blood work to understand my hormone levels and then proceeded with 3 rounds of IUI, using letrozole and a trigger injection. We already planned that I would do up to 3 rounds of IUIs. Unfortunately they did not work. We then prepared for IVF doing a frozen transfer with PGT testing because they had the best chances of success. I had a clear medication and injection plan for the egg retrieval, which went very smoothly with great results. Then we did the first transfer with the best quality egg. That resulted in a chemical pregnancy, so unfortunately that didn’t work either. The 2nd transfer worked and I am 11 weeks pregnant now. The transfers were “natural”, using letrozole, an antibiotic, the trigger injection, and progesterone. This was based on my hormone levels. They were thorough in each ultrasound as well making sure everything looked good.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center. (Assigned nurse: Laura Appling Ruekheim, Carla Roa, Lauren Ringman)
I lived closer to the San Ramon office so I went there for the treatments, ultrasounds, and blood work. The staff there were great, professional, thorough, friendly. My nurses worked at the Los Gatos office with Dr. Harris where I went for my pregnancy ultrasounds. I had a different primary nurse for my IUIs and IVF. They were all very kind, friendly, thorough, and organized. They would call to walk you through all the next steps and answer any questions, and then follow up with a message that detailed all of it. They were quick to jump on ordering medication and scheduling appointments. They always replied to my messages or calls within a day. They were compassionate as well when we got bad news, and would be reassuring.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center.
Despite being a large clinic, it really doesn’t feel that way. You have dedicated staff who know your case well and are on top of the details, which takes some of the stress off you. They do build a relationship with you, which builds trust and makes a very difficult journey a bit easier to go through. They are all knowledgeable and work closely with you through out the whole thing.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Reproductive Science Center.
They had flexible times which worked with my work schedule. You had to checkin online prior to the appointment and when you arrived you were seen quickly. There was only a few times I had to wait about 10 mins. They staff were also really great to work with. Mackenzie was my favorite sonographer. She was always warm, patient, and professional. She would explain things clearly and in detail, so I knew what was going on and what we were looking at on the screen.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Isiah Harris at Reproductive Science Center.
Luckily I have insurance coverage so I was able to use that. But it doesn’t go far in covering the medication, which was also a tip from the clinic. They did work with me to find the best options for covering the cost. My insurance covers $10k and I paid out of pocket. For 3 IUIs and 2 IVF transfers my total, with insurance, was about $22k.
Describe Isiah Harris's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center.
Dr. Harris strongly recommended a single embryo transfer, because of my situation. And he explained why he recommended it and what situations he would have recommended a multiple transfer. It was clear to me and made me feel more comfortable about the decision.
he [Dr. Isiah Harris] was compassionate, patient, and supportive. he also owned when mistakes happened and did his best to correct them...feels like he got to know us, gave good advice, kept it realistic and optimistic, personalized care...do you research, take notes, allow his experience and reassurance to comfort you
It [Spring Fertility - Sunnyvale] was a new clinic so a few kinks to work out, mainly because my embryos were made in SF and needed to be transferred to this location for the transfer which there was some confusion about...All staff were great and professional. Very empathetic and compassionate. the blood draws were a bit brutal. they needed more experience and even at my egg retrieval they had to have the anesthesiologist do my IV.
How was your experience with Isiah Harris at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley?
Dr. Harris is very optimistic and we used to joke that even if we didn't get the outcome we wanted we would feel better than if it were w/ another doctor. and we had been w/ another dr before. We had wanted to go with him when he was at a different clinic as he had previously completed a complex surgery on me. before we were able to he had left for spring and we tracked him down. he was compassionate, patient, and supportive. he also owned when mistakes happened and did his best to correct them.

Dr. Harris is incredibly compassionate and always made time to explain things to me when I asked. He is very positive, but I did not feel like he was excessively so. He was realistic when things didn't go as planned, but always made me feel like a human first...[he] did a great job of navigating that with me while giving me confidence that we were doing the best we could.
Spring is a great place - they are knowledgeable, experienced, and everything is very clean and orderly. They see a lot of patients, but I think they do so in a very efficient manner. You don't always see the same doctor, which I think can feel a little impersonal, but luckily, all the doctors are wonderful so it hasn't been an issue for me...every nurse I have worked with since has been absolutely wonderful - organized, clear communicator, diligent follow up, empathetic.

Dr. Harris is a wonderful, knowledgeable doctor. He knows what he's doing, and you're in good hands with him. IVF, as a whole, is risky and success is not guaranteed. I thought Dr. Harris did a great job of navigating that with me while giving me confidence that we were doing the best we could.

My current nurse, Beth, is wonderful. In the past, I have worked with a nurse who was not very clear, often forgot to follow up with things she said she'd do, and was generally a bit frustrating. That experience still gives me a bit of anxiety, but that nurse is no longer with Spring and every nurse I have worked with since has been absolutely wonderful - organized, clear communicator, diligent follow up, empathetic.

There was a previous nurse who failed to call in my prescriptions, but luckily, we were able to rush ship them and start everything on time.
Dr. Harris always welcomed me with a warm and positive attitude, asking how I have been. I really liked that Spring Fertility has multiple locations. Going to their smaller branch office in Redwood City was much more convenient than going into the main San Francisco office for my regular checkups. All of the doctors and nurses were very professional and I felt in good hands. The only thing I thought could have been improved was the communication with the nurses. I had a few hiccups in the beginning trying to get in contact with them, but once I figured out their system it was much better.

Dr Harris is wonderful. He was always very positive but realistic with our chances of conceiving. He treats you like he is always excited to see you...he was always patient with my questions and made sure I had a full understanding of not only my options but what the process would be like...We did three tries of the IUI with medication, which didn’t pan out for us. We were given a chance to keep trying with IUI but preferred to go with IVF
The nursing staff [at Spring Fertility] were wonderful! They made sure I was calm throughout the procedures and would talk me through things that they could tell I was nervous about...The clinic was great. We started this process pre-COVID, and had to take a break when everything by shut down. The clinic and staff kept us up to date and informed of re-opening and all their new COVID safety protocols.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Spring Fertility Silicon Valley.
We did have an issue with communication with one of our patient coordinators. She was not great with communication and gave us late information which forced us to delay taking medication. However, when we informed Dr Harris of our unhappiness with the coordinator, he immediately got on the phone and had the person changed. Within minutes, we were working with another coordinator who called us later that day to introduce herself and give us her direct contact information should we need anything.
Dr. Harris was very clear with his communication, he was funny and energetic, which help to ease my anxiety. I really appreciate his direct communication and honesty with treatment. He was thorough in presenting all the different options for treatment and was patience with me. I appreciate how he was informative and helpful and stay very neutral in his presentation.
The [Spring Fertility] clinic is very new with lots of techie stuff seems very futuristic. Very clean and safe. The location has its own parking lot and easy accessible to the public. The clinic has patients privacy as priority very spacious and private room for examination...He was very responsive and caring throughout my treatment and it made me felt important and well taken care of
