Dr. Massie is a wonderful and confident doctor who really knows the space of IVF inside-out. She is optimistic and real at the same time always explaining my chances of success or what to look out for. She understood that I love the details and would offer the appropriate level of explanations during our consultation. My only issue was that she sometimes didn't have long to spend during a check-in moving from one appointment to the next
[ORM Fertility] Strengths - I love the intimate feel of this clinic with one doctor and a few nurses - it really allows you to build a strong rapport. Another great part about this clinic is that all appointments start on time...Weaknesses: I would say that my treatment often had to be adapted and they did not have a systemic way to flag these adaptations.
How was your experience with Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Dr. Massie is a wonderful and confident doctor who really knows the space of IVF inside-out. She is optimistic and real at the same time always explaining my chances of success or what to look out for. She understood that I love the details and would offer the appropriate level of explanations during our consultation. My only issue was that she sometimes didn't have long to spend during a check-in moving from one appointment to the next - I don't blame her as she's the only doctor in the clinic who does everything from egg retrievals to transfers to the routine check-ups via a transvaginal ultrasound.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Do your research but be open as well - Dr. Massie is very good at addressing questions but at the same time, you will only have so many opportunities to get into the depth of it all so being prepared with your list is absolutely critical. She has been fantastic every step of the way in delivering the news or next steps so treasure those times as many doctors aren't as involved as she is or remember all the details regarding your treatment/case.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Dr. Massie was extremely warm and personable. I have severe vaginismus and she was always open to doing things differently or gradually given my condition. Most importantly, she was focused on the outcome whilst being creative in helping me get through some of the gnarlier activities such as SIS, etc. by using general anesthesia and clubbing multiple procedures at once.
Describe the protocols Jamie Massie used in your cycles at ORM Fertility Washington and their degree of success.
Antagonist Protocol - Menopur 75 IU in the AM, Gonal F 200 in the PM. After Day 5, I started Cetrotide as well. The protocol lasted for 10 days, took a 10,000 IU HCG trigger shot and had my egg retrieval 36 hours later . Rationale for using this protocol was the least number of shots and fastest route for maximum success. Retrieved 14 eggs as a result of this procedure.
Describe your experience with your nurse at ORM Fertility Washington. (Assigned nurse: Hannah Jablonski)
Hannah was wonderful and a God-send! She was proactive, communicated promptly and was extremely efficient in getting answers at the earliest. Most importantly, she showed a lot of compassion throughout my journey!
Describe your experience with ORM Fertility Washington.
Strengths - I love the intimate feel of this clinic with one doctor and a few nurses - it really allows you to build a strong rapport. Another great part about this clinic is that all appointments start on time and the maximum I've had to wait was 5 minutes at the most. Getting in and out of the clinic quickly is such a blessing when you have a whole working day that lies ahead of you (they also offer 7.30am appointments)
Weaknesses: I would say that my treatment often had to be adapted and they did not have a systemic way to flag these adaptations. Quite often, a treatment or list of medicines would be offered and I'd have to go back to check in on how this is different from what I had discussed with the doctor - triaging across it sometimes would take time.
Also, they use their electronic portal strongly to communicate each and every aspect of treatment, medication, next steps - I love it since, it would make communication very efficient. With that being said, their portal needs a lot of work such as enabling a basic "reply" function vs. starting a new message for every response. Minor inconvenience but it would be great to get it fixed.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington.
Covered through my employer's insurance that uses Progyny - my out of pocket including my husband's and my genetic testing/counseling, PGS testing of embryos was under $2k and insurance paid the rest.
Describe Jamie Massie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at ORM Fertility Washington.
Absolutely prefers elective single embryo transfer for healthy patients under 35.
What specific things went wrong at ORM Fertility Washington?
Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at ORM Fertility Washington.
As I mentioned earlier, due to my situation, I often had to adapt some parts of my treatment. For example, instead of taking progestrone suppositories, I would just take the injections and I had to message them to fix it on my treatment plan so I could convey it accordingly to my pharmacy for ordering of meds. This didn't take too long to fix but I wish there was better integration between the adaptations agreed upon with the Doctor now reflecting on my prescription and protocol
Dr Massie was knowledgeable and caring. I liked that I saw her every visit so I didn’t feel like I lacked continuity of care. Treatment seemed more personalized. I felt like she provided an honest assessment of my liklihood of success at every step of the way...This is a small clinic so be flexible on scheduling. The trade off is the more personalized experience that you get from a smaller clinic.
[ORM Fertility] Pros: more personalized care, you see your doctor every visit, it feels like they care about you as a person - you aren’t just a number Cons: staff is smaller and hours are reduced so scheduling is a little less flexible than at other clinics and when your primary nurse is out, follow up from the clinic is definitely delayed...Clinic only transfers 1 PGS normal embryo

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Dr Massie is the only doctor that you see while at her clinic so she really understands the issues that bring you to treatment in a way that seems noticeably different from the experience at other, larger, clinics where you often see a new person every time you come in.
Describe your experience with your nurse at ORM Fertility Washington. (Assigned nurse: Atma)
The primary nurse that I worked with was amazing. The only issues that I ran into were when she was not available the other staff members were less responsive to questions/calls and not did not provide updates to my treatment plan on the timeline expected.

My cycle was covered by insurance so I don’t have specific details on costs.
Describe Jamie Massie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at ORM Fertility Washington.
Clinic only transfers 1 PGS normal embryo (but I wasn’t looking for twins or a small herd of babies).
What specific things went wrong at ORM Fertility Washington?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at ORM Fertility Washington.
All issues that I experienced with this clinic were typically when my “normal” nurse was unavailable.
The only issue that I experienced with the clinic when my nurse was available were getting specific test results posted to my portal. Apparently some patients don’t want the detailed results posted to their portal but I did and it took asking a couple of times to get them posted.
[Dr. Jamie Massie is] Very friendly, personable and bubbly. Always felt like she knew what we were doing and confident that we were doing the best thing possible (while also communicating the risks/odds)...Agonist protocol for egg retrieval. Had me start Ovisatol as a supplement and Levothyroxone for a borderline thyroid level...
[ORM Fertility]It's a small clinic which was nice, but also felt a little hard to get a hold of them. The portal was great and I always got what I needed but i didn't always feel like i knew the next step that was happening...[eset approach] they recommend just one embryo[transfer] at a time and I agree...The IVF cycle was a lump sum of 20,200

She was great. Very friendly, personable and bubbly. Always felt like she knew what we were doing and confident that we were doing the best thing possible (while also communicating the risks/odds). What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Directions to find the building in the parking lot, it's a little convoluted the first time.

It's a small clinic which was nice, but also felt a little hard to get a hold of them. The portal was great and I always got what I needed but i didn't always feel like i knew the next step that was happening. First time for everything is hard, and once we got to the point that we had a calendar I felt much better. I'm very visual so I need the discussion plus a visual aid (i.e. calendar)
Describe your experience with ORM Fertility Washington.
Really nice, brand new interior. Felt clean, almost felt too empty but they had just opened the Bellevue location. A little hard to find the building, the driveway into the business park is hard to distinguish from the others but the parking and building are nice.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington.
The IVF cycle was a lump sum of 20,200. It was a little confusing because we were using an off-site genetic testing company about who we were paying for what, but it all got sorted. It didn't take any effort from me, just patience and seeing the bill come through. There was some miscommunication several weeks after the cycle (I got a bill, I don't remember for what, but they just took care of it).
Describe Jamie Massie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at ORM Fertility Washington.
We haven't transferred any embryos yet but they recommend just one embryo at a time and I agree.
Dr. Massie always made sure I understood the approach and so I never had any concerns...so very supportive and coached me and my husband through the next phase. The next transfer was a FET and that didn't work she called and and talk to me over the phone for 30 minutes just to make sure I was ok. She cares so much and I trust her with every step of this hard journey. She gives me hope that I will get pregnant again... I actually didn't have all my medication because my pharmacy was closed and she made sure to call in my meds to another pharmacist while she was off of work to make sure I had everything I needed.
Shanita [nurse at ORM Fertility] was very helpful and always answered my questions when I had them...The costs were about $18k without genetic testing and medication...The clinic was very clean and organized. Everyone knows you by name and is so very friendly. I have nothing but good things to say about the clinic. Everything is very convenient the office hours work very well with my work schedule also...Compared to the other 2 doctors I saw before Dr. Massie, Dr. Massie was the only one to make me feel like a human and not a number.
How was your experience with Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Dr. Massie is the most compassionate person I have ever met. I have never felt so safe with a doctor and trusting of everything she recommended. I would recommend her to everyone I know. She is just a wonderful human being. She is very knowledgeable and will call you on her own personal time if you are in a pickle. I actually didn't have all my medication because my pharmacy was closed and she made sure to call in my meds to another pharmacist while she was off of work to make sure I had everything I needed. When my FET didn't work she called me and I asked her what is wrong with me.... she stayed on the phone with me let me vent and then made sure I knew that there is nothing wrong with me. She then called me later on the same day to make sure I was ok and talked to me for 30 minutes on her own time. I cannot say enough about this woman she is heaven sent!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Don't be afraid, she will do her best to make sure you have the best possible chance of conceiving. So just relax and trust she has your best interest.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Compared to the other 2 doctors I saw before Dr. Massie, Dr. Massie was the only one to make me feel like a human and not a number. I got pregnant for the very first time with her as my doctor from the first fresh transfer and unfortunately had a biochemical pregnancy. She was still so very supportive and coached me and my husband through the next phase. The next transfer was a FET and that didn't work she called and and talk to me over the phone for 30 minutes just to make sure I was ok. She cares so much and I trust her with every step of this hard journey. She gives me hope that I will get pregnant again.
Describe the protocols Jamie Massie used in your cycles at ORM Fertility Washington and their degree of success.
For the FET I started out taking birth control (desogen), prenatal pill, cabergoline and aspirin
Then started the progesterone and estradiol injections. Progesterone was every day and estradiol was twice a week.
For the Egg Retrieval I cannot remember everything but I remember taking gonal F, Pregnal for the trigger shot, endometrium, Medrol, and estrace. I ended up having OHSS so I also had to take Ovasitol to help with that

With Dr. Massie we switched medications and decided to do things different because the first 9 months with the other doctor wasn't working. We switched to Letrozole & a trigger shot then IUI...was the first specialist I went to who actually explained questions I had rather than just giving me statistics. She really took time to make me feel like there was hope and we will get pregnant...I have been told by doctors that I was still young, too stressed, it's just not the right time. They didn't even stop to think even after 2 years of trying that something might be wrong. Dr. Massie has never pulled out the typical answers we were so used to hearing. She really helped us feel not so alone in this.
I love that the clinic [ORM Fertility] is clean and a generally happy place to be in an unhappy/difficult time in the patients lives...The staff is so great! Amy is so helpful Everytime I call I know the message will be relayed quickly and accurately. Shanita is awesome! She responds to all my questions as ridiculous as they might be, she gives me real answers and makes me feel calm about any situation I have been worried about, she helps calm my fears & always emails back quickly with an answer.
How was your experience with Jamie Massie at ORM Fertility Washington?
Dr. Massie is so sweet. It's hard to find a fertility doctor that shows you that they care rather than just going through the motions. She understood our situation and sympathized with us. Each month with infirtility is draining, it beats you up emotionally and physically and it's nice to have a doctor who really wants you to succeed, not because it's good for the clinic but because she wants everyone to be able to have a family who wants one. I have been told by doctors that I was still young, too stressed, it's just not the right time. They didn't even stop to think even after 2 years of trying that something might be wrong. I love that the clinic is clean and a generally happy place to be in an unhappy/difficult time in the patients lives. Most people don't go to fertility clinics because they want to, it's because we don't have the choice. If we want a family this is what we have to do. ORM makes it a little easier

So far most has gone to my deductible but the actual treatments themselves, such as IUI, I pay out of pocket for due to my insurance not covering.

She [Dr. Jamie Massie] was able to use a process of elimination to find the perfect combination of timing, medication and treatment path. After MANY years of MANY different treatments and MANY losses with several clinics, Dr. Massie and her team successfully instrumented our IVF cycle that led to our miracle son and future daughter...Not only was her medicine sound and obviously successful, but her genuine care, listening and flawless beside manner were icing on the cake. I would put Dr. Massie up against any other doctor as hands down the absolute best, my family is living proof!
[The nursing staff at ORM Fertility were] Phenomenal, to the point that they planned our appointments around other family obligations and knew each of us by name... Clinic was always prompt, clean and did everything within the enclosed hospital. Surgery, bloodwork, treatments etc were all in the attached hospital...Dr. Massie and her staff have been instrumental in my own health and ability to build a family. We pursued fertility treatments and procedures at several other clinics before becoming patients under Dr. Massie's care. In our previous endeavours we felt like the care was simply robotic and everyone received the same treatment, medicine and route regardless of diagnosis. Dr. Massie was one of the only doctors to diligently rule out other issues in question and willing to create a specialized plan to tackle our problems. We had performed IVF with other clinics and had never been successful, this was our last effort we with a new clinic and the recommended number based on our stats was 1-2, so we went with 2.
Dr. Massie and her nurses went above and beyond with my challenging body to help me succeed safely in handling IVF...She was very compassionate and personable and made us feel like we were important. We were able to ask all levels of questions and no question was a bad one. When we had concerns she was great at explanations and encouraging us...Antagonist protocol. I have had health issues and medication sensitivity so i didn't need high doses to complete my IVF cycle. She understood my concerns and created a cycle that worked with my body. Menopure 75 iu, Follistim 100 units, Dexamethasone, Ganirilix 250 mcg, Novarel 10,000 IU. 11 eggs retrieved , 10 fertilized with ICSI
From day 1 we felt like we were important [at ORM Fertility] and not just another patient coming through an office. The facility is small, warm, modern, clean and welcoming, which is what we were looking for in an office. We are so glad they are in Bellevue as other local hospitals are large and you don't even know what Dr. you'll have on your retrieval day!! There is a small number of staff and they all know your name even if they see you in the hallway. Dr. Massie and her nurses went above and beyond with my challenging body to help me succeed safely in handling IVF.

They really seem to care about me. We seen a few residents under her [Dr. Jamie Massie] care and they took the time to come up with a plan just for us... Right now my medicated cycle has been delayed/cancelled due to my prolactin levels being almost double. Dr felt it was smarter to fix that as sometimes that actually can help to fix my ovulation issues on their own. We will try that this cycle, if no change or pregnancy occurs then iui or medicated cycle next month
Strengths would be they [Madigan Army Medical Center] are very knowledgeable. And clean, nice and welcoming. Weakness hard to get into within my cycle dates, hard to see the same doctor. They never answer their phone, email only response.... We love all the doctors at this clinic. All doctors are very good at explaining what things are and plans of action. Very caring doctors, always with a smile on their face. Very good at showing results and why things are certain ways. I once felt very insecure about going in for my first abdominal ultrasound, but the dr and resident were very welcoming and went slow and it made it less stressful.

Dr. Massie always made my husband and I feel like we were actual family. Our concerns where also hers. She was dedicated to helping us find the reason for our infertility. She was willing to go into my medical history and even find things previous doctors had missed. Through doing so she found my diagnosis and is the reason I have my amazing son today.
