Very limited interaction with Dr Nani herself. The follow up meetings after each cycle were incredibly short and rushed. No discussion about protocols used, what worked, didn’t. Pushed out the door...It’s obvious Dr Nani is knowledgeable, just not personable...She never presented options (we brought them to her), nor did she listen to our concerns. She answered questions in a rushed manner at a level above our heads and then abruptly changed the topic.
[Fertility Center of Illinois is] a good facility, but they are concerned with their statistics and moving people thru according to a prescribed formula. Again, know yourself and align your doctor and care team with what you need. Don’t let them brush you off until you know you are done. They work for you...We stayed with the clinic this long because of the nursing team- from Sarah to Anne to Angel. All were so kind and truly seemed to be rooting for us. They showed compassion. When we got negative results they cried with us. Dr Nani couldn’t even pick up the phone herself.

Describe the protocols Jane Nani used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
We probably tried all of them at some point, but HGH was the most successful once we got there. No rationale was ever given beyond “seems like you are responding so let’s try it again.”

The nurse said one thing and the doctors said another (despite the nurse talking to the doctor). Lab work was lost and had to be redone. Orders sometimes weren’t ready for us.
I felt like a human because Dr. Nani was super positive and optimistic. She made us feel like this is nothing and we will tackle it together with not being alone. ...The sperm had volume but the motility and morphology were quite low. Overall after sperm washing the amount for iui was not enough or in the most ideal preferred amount. ... The only times during consultation that it was questionable is the amou t of time spent with us. Spent more time with nurses but Dr. Nani still had a very pleasant approach compared to a previous Dr we attempted a consult with.
I do not agree with the billing practices [of FCI] so I would defibrillator go into this most likely on a financial plan and make payment based on that. Or remove insurance from the mix if it does cover treatment /major actions of infertility. ... [Nursing staff] Very informative, easy to talk to, real, and just really made you feel comfortable. After speaking with my nurse I felt like I understood everything happening and if I didn't she was very available and responsive via phone and email.
How was your experience with Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr Nani gave my husband and I hope. We came to her From previous fertility Dr that just was harsh and unsympathetic of the situation. Dr Nani threw all that the previous Dr said out the window and said we will make it happen. That approach gave my husband and I faith. Now even though our multiple treatments with iui did not work, I still felt comfortable with the Dr. Through each cycle I did wish there was more time with the Dr. It wasn't enough interaction and discussion of the treatment plan as I thought it would be. Especially with coming in thinking that we had male factor infertility that turned into unexplained, I would have preferred to have more discussion with the Dr directly.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
If you are looking for Dr Nani to talk with you or perform the small procedures like iui then this will not be the one you want to see. If you want a DR that will try and give you good bed side manner she is great. If you don't have the ability to pay for treatment the Dr does try to do what she can to give a discount where possible if insurance doesn't cover. There are some benefits of support that the Dr will give if she has meds on hand. Not a bad experience but not an amazing one since we did not conceive.

The sperm had volume but the motility and morphology were quite low. Overall after sperm washing the amount for iui was not enough or in the most ideal preferred amount. Dr started with non Medicated cycle first because of no female impact and completed iui and used trigger shot. Negative result moved to clomid in 2nd cycle. Follicles took longer to grow in a monitored cycle but once achieved at least 1 semi follicle that was off preferred size around 12mm Dr made us trigger and we performed iui with a negative result. 3rd cycle we started with injectable gonadotropins. Thankfully Dr had these to help in the cycle cost that we could not get insurance to cover. While doing injections and monitoring we still did not see the follicles grow to a highly desired size like the first and we did trigger with follicles at around 16mm. In this cycle I myself had to request a back to back iui to try and strengthened our chances with getting the most sperm we could to where it needed to be. 3rd attempt unfortunately failed and we stopped because there was no further discussion with the Dr. About moving to another route besides adding another iui cycle and the cost to us could almost equate to an entire IVF cycle when we have to pay out of pocket for everything.

Describe your experience with Fertility Centers of Illinois.
The clinic has a Funchal dept however if you are a patient going in to pay it of pocket, make sure you get everything taken care of on your end. Do not allow them to send it to insurance if you plan on paying in your own. I did 3 cycles where I thought I was fine to later have a hard time discussing with their finance dept and the person I spoke with was not helpful, not caring, and just didn't know what I was asking for to better understand the billing. It wasn't until I escalated to a supervisor and social media that I got what I need to better understand my bill. I do not agree with the billing practices so I would defibrillator go into this most likely on a financial plan and make payment based on that. Or remove insurance from the mix if it does cover treatment /major actions of infertility.

Each iui cycle depended on how much minority was needed and what meds were used. First cycle was about $800 natural no meds ,2nd cycle was about,$900 Ned's were used clomid and monitoribg and 3rd was,$1200 injections lots if monitoring and 2iuis back to back.
Describe Jane Nani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
She [Dr. Nani] listened to our reasons as to why we were there and our concerns about my husband being the carrier of a muscular disease. She gave us time to talk and explained everything thoroughly. I did not feel rushed or belittled by her. ... She fully explained the process of how the genetic testing process would go. ... She offered plenty of her time to fully explain everything and listen to our story.
I think this clinic [FCI] shows immense compassion. They are very kind and I never felt like I was a burden on them. ... I do wish there was more guidance on how to pursue the financial part of IVF. They give plenty of details up front on how much it costs and offers businesses that do loans but I feel the financial part is super difficult and I feel I am working at it alone.

In our case my husband is the carrier of a genetic muscular disease that is rather debilitating (he lives with it everyday) He did not want to pass it to his children which is why we sought out Dr. Nani. I saw she had articles posted on genetic testing which is why I chose her. She fully explained only he has to be the carrier - it does not matter if I am a carrier so long as he is and it would be a 50/50 chance. She fully explained the process of how the genetic testing process would go. She did thorough testing of me and my husband and determined we are both healthy and great candidates for IVF.

I think this clinic shows immense compassion. They are very kind and I never felt like I was a burden on them. Everyone from the front desk, nurse, Dr. Nani, the check-out desk has been fantastic. Describe the costs associated with your care under Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I only had to pay my co-pay for office visits and my insurance covered all my pre-testing. As for the IVF process the cost for one cycle with genetic testing is around 26,000$
Dr. Nani explains the expectations. She is honest with you. Her bedside manner is really good. She doesn't make you feel less of a person because of any issue you may have with fertility. She is very intelligent....Dr. Nani sat down with us and went over all testing results. She said simply we had unexplained infertility. We made a game plan, when the game plan wasn't producing a result, we changed directions. She is knowledgeable and I trusted her with helping me and my husband.... She is always aware of the cost of these treatments and what insurance will cover so we moved on to Invetro.
Strengths are their staff. The staff is knowledgeable, know there job very well, and have great bedside manner. For example, my veins are really hard to find. With fertility treatments, blood is always being taken. I never had a problem with blood retrieval... FCI has great office hours. I didn't want anyone at work knowing what I was doing. The early morning appointments were best for me. However, there are some procedures that have to be done in the afternoon. I wish I could have done those early too, but I understand....I can't stress how caring everyone is from the front desk staff, to the ultrasound tech, to Dr. Nani. Sally Ann always returned calls and communicated clearly.

Since I had already been with one fertility doctor for just one treatment, she was able to take that into consideration and proceed with a different direction. Dr. Nani never felt like we had to start from scratch at her office. We proceeded with the IUI. After the third non successful IUI treatment she so no further need to keep up with this course of treatment. She is always aware of the cost of these treatments and what insurance will cover so we moved on to Invetro. The one IVF treatment we used worked the first time. The office was very specific amount the amount of eggs that can be transferred.

The entire office is amazing. I can't stress how caring everyone is from the front desk staff, to the ultrasound tech, to Dr. Nani. Sally Ann always returned calls and communicated clearly. Describe the costs associated with your care under Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
We were very lucky to run everything through our insurance. We were able to work on the IUI treatments. When we switched over to the IVF procedure, I knew we had $10,000 left in insurance so that was our final shot.
Describe Jane Nani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
We transferred two embryos. Only one was successful. After the eggs had fertilized, the lab took a look at the quality and thought the two eggs were of good quality there was not a need for a third. Three is the max they would transfer to me. On our way to the transfer (3 day transfer), the office called and thought we could wait to do a 5 day. They allowed us to make the decision and we went with the 3 day transfer.
I only spoke with her [Dr. Nani] once. Our initial meeting was very rushed and both my husband and I felt like we didn't have a minute to think of any questions. She told us everything would be no problem and we would be pregnant in no time. She never set realistic expectations. I had no idea I'd never see her again, basically. I had no idea she wouldn't be doing my egg retrieval, but instead a random doctor on call. She never personally reached out after my retrieval. I had no idea if I was supposed to schedule a follow-up appointment.
This clinic [Fertility Centers of Illinois] is very large and therefore personalized care is difficult to come by...I had some miscommunication about when to do specific things. At the end, nobody offered me information about embryo grade. I didn't even know there was a grading scale so after I found out, I had to call back and ask. I also had some issues with having to go to a downtown location for weekend monitoring, and them telling me to just go to my regular office for my next monitoring (I couldn't call to make an appointment because they were closed) and then showing up to a frazzled/annoyed front desk staff.
How was your experience with Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr Nani reminds me very much of a surgeon. She is probably very skilled at her job but she is not a great communicator and doesn't show a lot of compassion for what her patients are going through. She provided very little information about what to expect and therefore my first cycle was extremely stressful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Be more clear about what to expect in general, from an experience standpoint. Set realistic expectations. Be clear that just because she is your doctor, that doesn't mean you will see her very often.

My nurse was very nice but disorganized. She always seemed surprised when I had extra questions for her, however she definitely made the effort to stay on the phone with me to answer any questions I had. A couple of times I felt insecure about her but overall she proved to be my greatest source of information during my cycle.

Dr Nani did get more involved in our cycles once we started the IVF process versus the earlier pills & injectable cycles. During the early cycles she was more involved behind the scenes rather than in person. Dr Nani even made sure she did one of the transfers for us to help ease our minds that it wasn't working because of a dr error. FCI has a rotation of doctors who perform the retrievals and transfers so it was a comforting feeling to see her plan our cycle around when her rotation fell on the schedule.
The clinic offered very early morning appointments starting at 6:30am which helped balance work and appointments... The nursing staff at FCI - Lindenhurst was great! They have a passion for what they do and are always available to answer any question you may have. I was able to email the nurse my questions with a response by end of the day... That friendliness helped ease the stress of the entire process.
How was your experience with Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr Nani was very optimistic about our outcome even when things looked like they should work and they didn't, she never lost hope. Don't be afraid to ask questions and learn about your process. She will tell you everything she thinks you need to know but its a complex process and there will be things you don't know that having clarification on will help get you involved in your journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
Dr Nani took the time to always answer any questions myself of my husband had during the process. She didn't make us feel like any question was silly. She met with my husband and I after every IVF transfer regardless of the outcome.
Describe the protocols Jane Nani used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
#1. The first cycle we did was a simple clomid cycle with timed intercourse. The result was negative. This was done because Dr Nani wanted to start off simple and see how my body responded to the medication.
#2 - #3. We did two more additional clomid cycles due to insurance requirement of 3 clomid cycles before moving to a more progressive treatment of injectables. We did one timed interocurse and one IUI with these cycles. Both cycles ended with negative results. During these cycled Dr Nani begin to test my vitamin D and thyroid levels to ensure they were in the right ranges. They were not so we had to adjust with medication.
#4. This cycle was an injectable cycle with IUI. Dr Nani felt this would help be a little more forceful of a cycle as it was possible the clomid was diminishing my egg quality. The result was negative. During this cycle we noticed my husband's sperm count was starting to drop and it was suggested we move onto IVF due to my increasing age and strong desire to get pregnant.
#5. This was a fresh 5 day transfer IVF cycle. I was monitored to ensure I didn't encounter OHSS and I'm happy to say that I didn't encounter any post-op problems with over stimulation. I did produce 15 eggs and they were able to fertilize 7 with the ICSI process. All 7 made it to the 5 day stage (Grade A) and we decided to transfer just a single egg on our first transfer.
#6. This was a FET cycle where we transferred two embryos. Dr Nani performed this transfer to ensure there were no problems doing the transfer. The result was negative. This cycle Dr Nani to recommend another saline ultrasound to verify everything looked good and do a blood check for natural killer cells. It resulted that my NK count was slightly elevated and my saline ultrasound came back perfect.
#7. This was another FET cycle where we transfered two embryo's. Due to my higher NK cell count Dr Nani added an inter-lipids infusion prior to transfer to help decrease my NK cell count, which worked in decreasing my count to a safe level. The result of this cycle was a positive! We are currently expecting one little boy May 2016.

I was able to email the nurse my questions with a response by end of the day. By the time I got my positive pregnancy result I felt like the entire team was happy and excited for me. Upon graduation myself and the staff were in tears of joy and sadness to leave them. I really felt like we a team going through this journey.

The clinic offered very early morning appointments starting at 6:30am which helped balance work and appointments. I didn't have to take any time off for regular monitoring appointments with the earliness of the appointments. The clinic was always very clean and I felt safe. There were times when I had to travel to other FCI clinics for monitoring appointments and all the FCI clinics had a very nice atmosphere.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
I work for a company in Wisconsin and live in Illinois so my insurance coverage was slightly different than if my company was from Illinois. The monitoring appointments typically cost around $200 with ultrasound and bloodwork. For the IVF cycles I was able to work with Dr Nani to ensure that the cost could stay within my lifetime maximum covered by my insurance. I think in total we spent $6,000 out of our pocket over the year of treatments for all the medications and appointments (including egg retrieval and three transfer cycles).
Dr Nani was a very optimistic and charismatic Doctor. Throughout our treatments she was our biggest supporter. She always talked as if we getting pregnant was no big deal. This was extremely helpful with such an emotional process. She also treated you like a person. She knew the medical, but didn't talk over our heads. I am so happy my gynecologist recommended her to us.

We started with pills which did not work due to my pcos. After the pills, we switched to injectables. The first round went well and we made it to an iui, but did not get pregnant.
The next round of injectables I ended up with 8 eggs so we decided to cancel the iui. If we had insurance, we could had converted to ivf.
We did another round of injectables and iui with no pregnancy.
The last round we started with idea of converting to ivf of neede, as we went a little more aggressive with meds. We made it to an iui and we got pregnant!

Dr Nani was very positive during our meetings but unfortunately I do not think she is a very analytical Dr, she tends to do the same thing over and over even if it does not yield different results. She talks very quickly and is a bit scattered so sometimes I did not have a clear understanding of what was going on or what to expect next...Be sure to get all of your questions in during consultations even if she seems to rush or blow past them.
She [Dr. Nani] used a mircrodose Lupron protocol for an attempted fresh cycle. My fsh was too high so she put me on birth control even through I stated over and over that Bc yields bad results for me. That cycle ended up being cancelled...The front desk (Nora) is so great. She’s very sweet and positive. The phlebotomist was terrible. I’ve never had problems with blood draws before but she hurt me and bruised me every single time I was there (which was often).

Sometimes what the Dr and what the nurse told me weren’t quite the same and caused confusion several times.
We were struggling in the beginning so we ended up taking a more aggressive approach with the idea that it would be turned into ivf if needed. It turned out to not be needed and we got pregnant. I am very happy with her approach....Dr. Nani is the kind of doctor I love. Her attitude was always that we would get pregnant. She was always very positive about everything we did. This helped us stay positive and believed that it would happen. She is a no nonsense doctor who tells it like it is. We loved her!

Describe Jane Nani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Centers of Illinois.
Dr. Nani was positive and optimistic when our previous clinic was not. She was awesome and we will see her again for baby number 2. I never felt like a number with her and she was responsive after at backs....This clinic [FCI - Lindenhurst] was convenient and awesome. I was happy to have transferred with my doctor. I loved the locations, nurses, ultrasound techs and doctor. I did not like the billing department. They were awful. Everything else was amazing...Susan was a responsive nurse and educated us well.... I was self pay. Our retrieval cycle was over $30,000. Our FET was about $10,000.

What specific things went wrong at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
She’s [Dr. Nani] doing her due diligence to get to the root of the issues before we spend the money to do IVF ... Treatment strategy so far has been to test for all possible outcomes for reoccurring loss & infertility. The supplement protocol and timing of procedures and even freezing eggs and transferring back once your body has healed is a different approach than most of the other clinics that only want a freah transfer
It’s nice to be assigned a nurse and have them check on you and follow up with answers. The amount of options FCI gives is so impressive & informative. We feel like we’re in good hands during this difficult time trying to conceive ... [Nurse] Very informative & constantly checking in ... The care and treatment to get to the bottom of our infertility has been superb by far.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
The compassion she has for her job shows and she truly wants you to understand all your options and the risk involved. I’ve worked with several RE’s and she by far has the most upfront doctor explaining all our options and tests to get to the bottom of our infertility & reoccurring loss.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jane Nani at Fertility Centers of Illinois?
The care and treatment to get to the bottom of our infertility has been superb by far. Out of all the other doctors we’ve seen so far (4 others-in 2 states) She’s doing her due diligence to get to the root of the issues before we spend the money to do IVF and we can truly appreciate that since we’ve spent 60k + out of pocket so far in 7 years of trying to conceive

$40 Co pay for initial visit. Insurance covers some testing to determine cause of infertility.. lots of out of pocket for sonograms and blood work. We’re in process of starting IVF so roughly $20k out of pocket
When there are setbacks or bad outcomes [Dr. Nani is] always looking at the bright side . To me she doesn’t give up . She try’s things and doesn’t just do what everyone else is doing or works for them . Let’s you be your own adovcate ...I also brought up a ob/immunologist to her and she was on board and backed me up on everything. She even tried to get me in sooner to the doctor. She also kept in contact with my ob the whole time since I M very close to her . Through out this whole process she always had a smile on her face and always happy even when she was coming into to do surgery on me at 6am . It can be annoying

Describe the protocols Jane Nani used in your cycles at Fertility Centers of Illinois and their degree of success.
Since I had multiple hystercopy cuz of adhesions dr Nani wouldn’t let me move forward with out doing a mock/era cycle to make my sure my uterus was capable of a transfer . First fet was antagonist. My lining did not respond well . She added extra meds like Del estrogen and extra estrogen in general to help thicken my lining and reduce fluid from my uterus. She didn’t just cancel . My first fet was a positive hcg but ended in miscarriage at 7.5 weeks . My thyroid went crazy and my progesterone dropped so they added extra meds to try to save . 2nd fet did antagonistic. Started out with higher dosage of estrace from beginning. Ended up with fluid again . Added Del estrogen and did fluid aspiration. Day of transfer I had tri lining like last time and no fluid so we went for it . Doctor Nani did give me option to cancel if I wanted . We also started out higher dosage of progesterone to avoid a drop . Also we were checking thyroid weekly and adjusting meds as needed . We were on top of things but unfortunately my thyroid went crazy and had a negative. Went to my what happed appointment. She recommended changing protocol to stimulated cuz of poor lining issues even though the first one did take . Recommended getting more blood work and us on thyroid b4 transferring again . I also brought up a ob/immunologist to her and she was on board and backed me up on everything. She even tried to get me in sooner to the doctor. She also kept in contact with my ob the whole time since I M very close to her . Through out this whole process she always had a smile on her face and always happy even when she was coming into to do surgery on me at 6am . It can be annoying but atleast she’s always optimistic. I knew I was with the right doctor when she didn’t knock down all my ideas .
