Dr. Choi was always friendly and treated us like smart adults who could assess information. She remembered our situation, concerns, and addressed them in subsequent appointments. She also went out of her way to say a quick hello even if we were only in office for blood work or monitoring. ... I was diagnosed with a slightly lower egg supply (diminished ovarian reserve), with high FSH. My AMH is considered normal/age appropriate... somewhat of a conundrum. So designing a treatment protocol that would wake up enough eggs but not make me overstimulate was important.
CCRM's strengths are its Doctors, Embryologists, and technologies. The money goes primarily to these areas. The business office & team could be organized a little better (8 of 10). There was just a couple discrepancies/ minor confusion in the beginning between the consult and testing workups and before the IVF cycle started that left us wondering sometimes. Each thing got worked out, but it took a couple emails/phone calls. Once we were fully in the IVF cycle, the injection protocol, monitoring, egg retrieval, and follow up all went smoothly. This is when we really became a "fan" of CCRM.
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Working with Dr. Choi was great. We did a bit of research on Fertility IQ before choosing a clinic & doctor and were not disappointed by our choice. Knowing time is extremely important we didn't want to waste time in not-a-great-experience. We wanted a doctor with a solid reputation and results. Right from the first consultation we were pleased by the amount of time Dr. Choi spent with us, including detailed explanations of all required testing, fertility treatment options including risk factors and percentage chance of success, and any limitations. Again we had done a bit of research on infertility before any appointments so we were able to jump right into conversation with her. She heard our concerns and addressed them. She was very factual and speaks quickly, so we always needed to be paying close attention. I brought my notes from home and my recent cycle dates on paper and she appreciated it. Two times, after testing results were received, we would send detailed questions/concerns into the Facility's nurses inbox and Dr. Choi called directly in reply. She allayed concerns, not with any pretense of guaranteed results, but reminding us there was likely not any one factor that would determine full success or full failure. We appreciated the personal touch. Dr Choi's protocol selection for me was spot on. The research we did on our own shows it was slightly aggressive but had it not been we would have not likely gotten the same results. The egg retrieval experience was good as well. She also always called with results (with any thing more than normal monitoring instructions). Dr Choi and her staff also worked with us patiently as we changed our minds a couple times regarding how we wanted the IVF cycle to proceed (fresh vs frozen transfer; PGS testing or not). She said, "I'll do what you guys want to do," so it made us feel heard. Ultimately we went with her recommendation; and we feel we got the best results we could have.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Do your own research and homework outside of your treatment recommendations, more for your own understanding. Come to the table with some knowledge of fertility/infertility. I could imagine not knowing anything someone might feel overwhelmed (in general). She explains well, but you'll maximize the depth of her knowledge better. She's extremely smart and good at what she does. Come to her with your own thoughts, questions. Dr. Choi speaks quickly, pay attention to her answers (take notes if possible).

I was diagnosed with a slightly lower egg supply (diminished ovarian reserve), with high FSH. My AMH is considered normal/age appropriate... somewhat of a conundrum. So designing a treatment protocol that would wake up enough eggs but not make me overstimulate was important. The protocal included... Estrogen priming, Menopur, Follistim, later added in Ganirellix, and 2 trigger shots. I didn't overstimulate and was pleased with the number of eggs retrieved.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM New York. (Assigned nurse: Emily)
Dr Choi's primary Nurse, Emily, was very competent as well. Once we were working with her during the IVF cycle, we felt much more assure we were in good hands. She was always organized when we saw her and was always quick to reply thru the patient portal. We did have have some back and forth discrepancies with the patient care coordinator and the financial coordinator during the testing working up and before moving forward with the pricing/decided treatment. Sometimes we felt things got tacked on that we didn't ask for. I can imagine some people pay for services that aren't needed. We really had to advocate for ourselves that what were getting and paying for only what we wanted.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Janet Choi at CCRM New York.
The IVF cycle costed around $16K. This does not include the initial consultation and testing, medication, anesthesiology, or final frozen embryo transfer.
Describe Janet Choi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM New York.
Dr. Choi was willing to do no more than a 2 embryo fresh transfer. She warned against the risks of a multiple embryo transfer to both mom and baby. Ultimately we opted for PGS testing tho.

[Dr. Choi] is an extremely detailed doctor. She listened to our concerns and talked us through the whole procedure...There are a lot of steps and it feels kind of overwhelming. It might help if she slowed down a bit or just checked in a bit more about how we were feeling as she shares the procedure with us...Record your appointments so you can listen to her afterward since each appointment is information overload it helps to be able to play back what she says in your appointments
we picked CCRM because they were a Carrot Partner. We were supposed to receive 10% discounts on all of our procedures and we did not. It took several back-and-forth emails to straighten this matter out...You need to really be on top of the finances yourself. You should double-check every bill...It's the administrative stuff and the way that they organize the process that could be improved. The handoff between different departments was done pretty poorly...Because of the short notice in receiving these materials we had to delay my IVF cycle for another month
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Janet Choi is an extremely smart doctor. She spent the time walking us through the procedures and we felt we were in good hands when we can to her. The reason we picked CCRM was because of her reputation, experience, and credentials. We wanted the best doctor for our IVF experience and that is why we picked her. Overall, I think she is a good doctor, and as well have gotten to know her more I think she has become more easy to talk to. At the beginning it was extremely overwelming and I felt she talked too fast and really needed to slow down a bit.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Record your appointments so you can listen to her afterward since each appointment is information overload it helps to be able to play back what she says in your appointments. Also, take extensive notes during the meetings.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
She is an extremely detailed doctor. She listened to our concerns and talked us through the whole procedure. My only reason for not giving her the highest score is because of the speed at which she goes through information. There are a lot of steps and it feels kind of overwhelming. It might help if she slowed down a bit or just checked in a bit more about how we were feeling as she shares the procedure with us, but I think that why they have the care coordinator to assist you with getting through all the steps.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
n/a. I am not comfortable sharing this level of information.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM New York. (Assigned nurse: Precious and AJ)
Very caring and easy to work with, however, I felt that the medical team and the operations and finance teams do a terrible job communicating information between each other.
Describe your experience with CCRM New York.
You need to really be on top of the finances yourself. You should double-check every bill. For example, we picked CCRM because they were a Carrot Partner. We were supposed to receive 10% discounts on all of our procedures and we did not. It took several back-and-forth emails to straighten this matter out. At the beginning of the process they should give patient the opportunity to sit down with their finance person to look at IVF journey and cost holistically. This was not done and I wish it had been. We probably would have cleared up the overcharging that happened much earlier on. I thought the care provided by the clinic is their greatest strength. It's the administrative stuff and the way that they organize the process that could be improved. The handoff between different departments was done pretty poorly. From October to December we had been talking with the medical team about starting my IVF procedure in early January. We received 2 contracts that were both over 30 pages in length with only a week to review, as well as the bill being due for 20K+. We were very frustrated that we hadn't received these materials at least a month in advance especially since they had known about our intentions to start the process months in advance. Because of the short notice in receiving these materials we had to delay my IVF cycle for another month. This was frustrating because I had prepared my body to go through the cycle by stopping certain medications. We postponed the IVF with the plan to do it the following month, however, my doctor was going to be out the entire week I was ovulating so then I had to postpone a second time. I was less frustrated about my doctor being out and having to pause again, and more hope they resolve their internal communication between departments so that patient can have a more seamless experience.

[Dr. Choi is] really, really intelligent..always willing to brainstorm and listen...She is an amazing listener--not one of those docs who interrupts patients...She thanked me for pushing back on ideas and she changed my protocol and how we did things as a result of my ideas about what would be best for me and my body. She calls and asks how you feel after a retrieval--herself...
[the CCRM NY nurse] always communicated compassionately and always ensured I had the right medicines in..They communicate so well with Dr. Choi and relay messages promptly. The only bad thing about CCRM's communication system is the portal, which is often down. So call if your messages don't get through...Strengths: friendly, organized, communicative, clean, flexible with timing, understanding of professional women and their needs
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi is kind. When I had a round with no embryos, she told me herself and called to check in on me. Dr. Choi performs most of her own ultrasounds, and unless she's on vacation, performs her own retrievals--which made me feel very cared for. Dr. Choi always calls back to answer questions on the patient portal--even little questions that could be answered by a nurse. Dr. Choi is senstive to psychological issues and listened to me and my husband talk about our IVF fatigue and our different desires about the process being shaped by that fatigue. Dr. Choi is so brilliant and cares so much. When I had issues with recovery from anesthesia after a retrieval, she called me personally many times to check up on me, did her own research to figure out why I had recovered more quickly at my past clinic, and changed the anesthesia so I could resove better. The only warning about Dr. Choi is that she's a purist and wants to control the process--and she's a very kind but very authoritative person. I feel comfortable having discussions with her and giving her my opinion, and usually agreeing with her by the end as she explains her reasoning. Not everyone might feel that way. But her kindness and openess and empathy balances out her brilliance and authoritativeness. She is an amazing listener--not one of those docs who interrupts patients. She's truly paying attention and modifying treatment to get the best results for the patient.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Be open with her and tell her when you experience bodily discomfort or psychological discomfort. Communicate with her and her team. She's truly 100% on your side and will do everything she can to help you accomplish your goals.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi always takes time out to answer every question thoroughly and to talk to you like a human being. She is kind, but direct. She's really, really intelligent. She's always willing to brainstorm and listen--not a "know-it-all" doc like many RE's. She thanked me for pushing back on ideas and she changed my protocol and how we did things as a result of my ideas about what would be best for me and my body. She calls and asks how you feel after a retrieval--herself! And then she takes it seriously. When I felt awful after retrievals, she called my previous clinic to find out what they did differently, and changed the anesthesia so I wouldn't feel as bad. She delivers news herself. She listens to the human and psychological dimensions of this and clearly has so much empathy--and then is solution-oriented and logical. She's the absolute best RE and perfect fit for me. She's also just so professional, multifaceted, and interesting, and serves as a real role model for younger professional women. Knowing her is a pleasure.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
Because I have done so many rounds, I don't remember all of them, but the last round, which was very successful (produced 3 high-graded embryos) was a mini-IVF round. No ICSI, and no CCS testing.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM New York. (Assigned nurse: Precious (most of the time).)
Precious always communicated compassionately and always ensured I had the right medicines in. There was another nurse I briefly worked with when they were very busy, and she was fantastic--compassionate, thorough, organized too. These nurses make you feel special and cared for. They communicate so well with Dr. Choi and relay messages promptly. The only bad thing about CCRM's communication system is the portal, which is often down. So call if your messages don't get through.
Describe your experience with CCRM New York.
Strengths: friendly, organized, communicative, clean, flexible with timing, understanding of professional women and their needs Weaknesses: a little by the book and OCD. You will have to navigate your own path and communicate what you need if it deviates from the playbook--but they are on your side and will help you and will listen to you.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at CCRM New York.
Well-oiled machine. I felt like a human. Everyone was so friendly and kind. If I was late, no one was mean. And usually Dr. Choi did her monitoring herself. When she didn't, it was a doc or NP, and they were all amazing. The NP there is very sweet and communicative. I never felt like an animal in a cattle call there: I felt cared for and human.

Be ready with all the questions you want to ask her [Dr. Janet Choi] - she is a great resource and an open book...We added Clomid the second round in order to yield more eggs. During the first retrieval I also had a hysteroscopy done. For both rounds we did PGS testing...She recommended a single embryo transfer as the embryos had passed genetic testing...always remembered me and the little details of my progress. She did all of my procedures herself. I waited very little to be seen. Her style is matter-of-fact and straightforward, but throughout treatment I felt that she deeply cared for me and wanted the treatments to be successful.
They [staff at CCRM New York] are the best. Lovely to work with, always kind, knew me by name and were gentle, patient, and compassionate. From the receptionist to the phlebotomist to the nurses assisting with retrievals - I never had a bad experience at CCRM...They are transparent about your treatment and what you can expect. Every procedure was done with the utmost care and professionalism in a beautiful, clean facility. Even though this office was a hike from where I live, I looked forward to visiting every time. Also - a huge plus based on past experience and what friends have told me - I never had any issues with scheduling, billing, or prescriptions.
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
I consider myself incredibly lucky to be Dr. Choi's patient. Doing IVF during a pandemic adds lots of stress to an already challenging and unpredictable situation, but I felt reassured knowing that I was in the best hands. Dr. Choi genuinely cares about helping you, and she is extremely knowledgeable and thorough - I met with her to get a second opinion after a not-so-great experience at another clinic and she suggested a number of additional tests my other doctor had never brought up. She's very calm, straightforward and to the point but never in a brusque or condescending way. I trusted her immediately and I'm so glad I switched clinics. It's a small practice but run very well, scheduling was easy and wait time was short. All the receptionists, IVF coordinators and nurses are wonderful and take the time to get to know you by name. The facilities are also very new and clean. I did two rounds of IVF with Dr. Choi and I am now in my first trimester. I would recommend her & CCRM to anyone.

Describe your experience with CCRM New York.
I had a wonderful experience here after a less than stellar experience at another, much bigger clinic where wait time was long, small administrative errors were routine, and questions and feedback were brushed off (noting that the doctor was perfectly nice - my main issue was with other staff at the clinic). CCRM is the opposite of everything I experienced there. They respect their patients' time and treat you like a human being. They are transparent about your treatment and what you can expect. Every procedure was done with the utmost care and professionalism in a beautiful, clean facility. Even though this office was a hike from where I live, I looked forward to visiting every time. She [Dr. Choi] does not have an ego which is amazing for a doctor of her level; she was willing to try new things that could potentially help our outcomes...The only "negative" I could even say about my experience which I think is pretty standard, is that I didn't see her every visit...She was always willing to go above and beyond, listen to me, and try new protocols when it was warranted
CCRM is very well organized and friendly. You never have to wait a long time either for an appointment or over the phone and they are BUSY. You are always greeted with a smile and treated with compassion...Writing down my questions in advance for re-group sessions or when I was expecting a call with her helped me focus on not missing something. Expect her to move quickly (she speaks quickly) but she will gladly slow down if you need or have additional questions
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi is brilliant - I trust her education, training, and experience. She does not have an ego which is amazing for a doctor of her level; she was willing to try new things that could potentially help our outcomes. I felt Dr. Choi was a detective for us. We were not sure why IVF wasn't working and why we were having such struggle. She dug in on every additional test (I was a very willing participant), additional bloodwork, she even consulted with another doctor on our case. She always demonstrated compassion and honesty. The only "negative" I could even say about my experience which I think is pretty standard, is that I didn't see her every visit. They are busy! I didn't realize this at first. The doctor doing the Ultrasound is pretty quick. If you want to know every detail, just ask - I didn't realize this at first as most information wasn't readily shared with me (exact blood work levels, egg size during a cycle, etc). I started asking, and had no issues getting every additional detail I wanted. I highly recommend Dr. Choi and have full trust in her. She is amazing at what she does.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Writing down my questions in advance for re-group sessions or when I was expecting a call with her helped me focus on not missing something. Expect her to move quickly (she speaks quickly) but she will gladly slow down if you need or have additional questions. She truly cares about her patients and their success. She's a perfectionist!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi is an incredible doctor. I would have 10-15 questions written down for her during our re-group meetings and she never rushed and thoroughly and honestly answered our questions. Though ultrasound visits are quick, she always asked how I was doing and made sure to follow up with me either directly or through her nurse when I was struggling. She helped treat the "full" person - recommending a fertility therapist who was amazing as well as an acupuncturist who specialized in fertility. She was always willing to go above and beyond, listen to me, and try new protocols when it was warranted. I felt as if I was a part of my treatment plan (because I wanted to be), and she always helped us weigh the pros and cons of each decision we made along the way. What stands out to me most is when Dr. Choi walked into the OR just before my Egg Retrieval on a Saturday, and she was off that day.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
I had 3 different protocols with Dr. Choi. After learning more information during my first 2 cycles, my 3rd cycle was my best and produced the most eggs and embryos. We did not prime that cycle with any estrogen and we started earlier in my cycle. Egg Maturity was my main issue - half or more eggs were typically immature at retrieval, and we had a hard time producing normal embryos after testing.

Dr. Choi is a warm compassionate person who understands that you are a person.... She explains everything from start to finish and if there are any set-backs (in my case, there were), SHE will discuss it with you. Not anyone else that doesn't know your situation. She has a good personality and can definitely say something funny at times to make light of a situation. The only bad thing is she can not be everywhere at all times, you will see other doctors if she's away or conducting procedures.
CCRM NY's strengths are it's very professional, clean and inviting. The staff is very organized and just the flow of everything doesn't have you feeling overwhelmed. They make sure you're informed and the establishment doesn't feel like a you're another number....I was fortunate to have everything, from blood work to ultrasounds sounds early in the morning. I'm a 9 - 5 woman so sometimes I was able to get a 7:30am appointment. Never any lines, I occasionally waited in the hallway, not more than 3 mins.
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi is a warm compassionate person who understands that you are a person. As a "doctor" having empathy is a no-no but she understands the vulnerability of why you're at the office. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
When she says it's a process, IT IS A PROCESS! I am the least patient person and i had to learn that this takes time and it is a HUGE commitment. Trust the process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
From the moment you walk in, the staff at the front desk knkw your name, you literally wait 2 - 3 mins the latest to be called in. When you're walking to your room, everyone exchanges a hello with a smile. Your doctor doesn't rush their consult with you and answers your questions warmly. Everyone from start to finish makes sure you leave feeling content and well informed.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
Well first, you have to go through a process of elimination. She asked what procedures did i do before going to CCRM NY, which was only using Clomid and did some cycles of IUI's. One which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Prior to starting my IVF cycle, i did plentiful of blood work, i was on medication for an elevated pituarty. I did blood genetic testing, hormonal testing, I checked to see if i had blockage of my fallopian tubes. Then for my 1st cycle (I wound up having 2). I was taking 2 vials of Menopur in the am & 300 units of Follistem at night, Lupron. Followed by Cetrotide in the morning. Right before the retrieval i had to take a HSG shot. I initially had 15 eggs withdrawn and ultimately they were all unusable. For my second cycle, the meds were pretty much the same, instead of using Cetrotide, i used Ganirelix. We did the genetic testing again and this time we sent my husband's sperm to be analyzed (The company was SCSA) and they were able to use sift out the stronger sperm from the weaker ones. My second retrieval resulted in 15 eggs, and 2 survived. I had one sucessful implantation and the other is frozen. For the transfer I was on Estrogen patches and I had to inject myself with Progesterone Oil as well as take suppositories. Immediately after the transfer I did acupuncture. My son now is 7 1/2 months old and I'm grateful everyday that he is here.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at CCRM New York.
The nursing staff was very professional, they never spoke about anyone's information in shared spaces. They're there early to accommodate your work schedule. The only downside is there are many of them that work there so it's hard to have that one on one relationship with them.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at CCRM New York.
I was fortunate to have everything, from blood work to ultrasounds sounds early in the morning. I'm a 9 - 5 woman so sometimes I was able to get a 7:30am appointment. Never any lines, I occasionally waited in the hallway, not more than 3 mins.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Janet Choi at CCRM New York.
The state of NY doesn't cover IVF expenses. CCRM NY's costs are very itemized. It costs more to add genetic testing, which i highly recommend.
Describe Janet Choi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM New York.
For the state of NY, they always tell you to transfer 1 embryo. In my case out of 2 cycles, i only had embryos. Dr. Choi strongly suggested that i transfer one embryo at a time and I agreed that was ultimately best.

Dr. Choi is incredibly empathetic and compassionate. She listens to my concerns and questions. She’s also been willing to adjust my course of treatment to try to better maximize the outcome. After three egg retrievals, I had only one day-5 blastocyst. Given this, she adjusted the transfer cycle to perform additional testing typical only undertaken after a failed embryo transfer. Rather than risk my one embryo, I appreciated
CCRM is well run and efficient. The different departments (front desk, nursing, doctors, billing) seem to be well coordinated and communicate well. You make an appointment for monitoring so there is generally little waiting around beforehand though on occasion the wait time for the ultrasound portion would be long.... A couple of minor issues: in one instance, an AMH test had to be redone due to a lab error. In another, a miscommunication by one of the nurses that was corrected upon following up about it.

Be armed with questions before appointments. The office appointments are the best time to be able to discuss with her directly so it’s important to be prepared.

Dr. Choi always took the time to explain things thoroughly and consider my input.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
First retrieval: traditional cycle with menopur and gonal, and cetrotide added halfway through. Lupron trigger at the end. This yielded 4 eggs and one pgs normal blastocyst. Second retrieval: Lupron protocol to try to increase egg count. This resulted in greatest drop off between number of eggs (5) and number mature/fertilized (2). No blastocysts. Third retrieval: back to the original menopur, gonal and cetrotide protocol though the amounts of menopur and gonal were slightly different. This yielded 6 eggs (5 mature), 4 fertilized but no blastocysts.

I decided to see Dr. Choi because I really liked her manner and tone. She had a very calming air about her and seemed to be very sensitive to my needs. ... She was so thorough and really took the time to get to know me and explain the process fully. She made me feel totally at ease with my decision to freeze eggs. She was compassionate but also very straight forward which I really admire. I had a wonderful experience with her.
The clinic [CCRM NY] was really pleasant and really prompt and timely for the most part which I really respect. It’s really nice when you actually get seem at your appointment time! They made the whole experience as comfortable and easy as possible. ... The nursing staff was great as well. They communicated when they said they would and were always available to answer any questions. I also had one of the nurses coming to help me with injections nightly and she was so nice, she really went out of her way to help me!
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Let me start by saying I think all the doctors at CCRM are really the best out there. I decided to see Dr. Choi because I really liked her manner and tone. She had a very calming air about her and seemed to be very sensitive to my needs. I went to an information session put on by the doctors and then followed up with a consultation with Dr. Choi and after both I knew I made the right decision with the practice and the doctor I decided to see. She was so thorough and really took the time to get to know me and explain the process fully. She made me feel totally at ease with my decision to freeze eggs. Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
Dr. Choi came up with my hormone treatment based on my blood work and initial ultrasound and adjust as she felt she needed to as I continued to go for blood work and ultrasounds throughout the process. I never questioned the decisions she was making along the way.

[Dr. Janet Choi's] professional yet sensitive demeanor, her honesty and her ability to be candid made me feel more like her friend, than her patient. Throughout my treatment she assured me I would get pregnant one way or the other. During my treatments she would call me at 9pm from home. If I ever had a question throughout the day about my treatment or any other dr I was seeing in conjunction with her treatment, she would never wait until the next day to reach me. She always made me feel comfortable and cared for. Her determination matched my perseverance during my fertility journey and I will be grateful to her always.
Jamie was a wonderful nurse to work with [at CCRM NY]. She always answered any question I had within 2 hours. Was very informative, compassionate, and friendly. She facilitated and resolved any communication issues I would have with the pharmacy and/or insurance company...henever I would walk into CCRM, the front desk staff, especially Stephanie and Gina, would always welcome me with a smile and by my name. I felt like I was a hotel guest and not a patient. I never waited more than 10 minutes for an appointment, whether is was for blood tests or meeting with Dr. Choi. Even Amanda in billing was great to work with. She was always a pleasure to work with.
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
As I mentioned above, I knew that Dr. Choi would be the Dr. who would get me pregnant. She is an exceptional Dr. with a wonderful bedside manner. Her honesty and sincerity was always appreciated. I would recommend her services to anyone who is pursuing a fertility journey.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
She is with out a doubt one of the best when it comes to fertility Drs. She is a joy to work with. Whoever is her patient is very lucky to be working with her.

Dr. Janet Choi made this entire experience amazing. Her attention to detail and you as a patient is more than I could have ever asked for. She is knowledgeable, caring, and always there when you need her throughout your treatment. I was really surprised by how amazing the whole process went and I have shared this experience now with many others. I plan on seeing Dr. Choi for any and all fertility treatments I may need in my lifetime.
Everyone at CCRM was great. Always available to answer any questions (and trust me, this process initiates MANY questions!)...The entire treatment was about $15,000 which is on the high end of egg freezing, however you get what you pay for. The care I received here was worth every penny...The clinic was state of the art, clean, friendly, and great location. Waiting room has snacks and coffee, drinks. There was never a wait longer than 15 minutes for any of my appointments. The staff is accomodating in your schedule

I went in for a consult last year to determine my perfect timing on egg retrieval and see where I stood as far as follicles, etc. Dr. Choi then took her time to explain every detail, performed an ultrasound and we determined I had more follicles than expected and could wait on this procedure until I was ready. She never pressured me to get it done right away. I went back this year to start the process. Ultrasounds, meds instructions, and the day of the retrieval were all very easy due to her care and precision in what she does. She truly is a master of her work.

She [Dr. Choi] is exceptional at her job.... I am using a sperm donor and as you can imagine the IUI is a very taxing process to begin with and going about trying to conceive as a single parent just adds more anxiety, stress and overwhelm. Dr. Choi has the bedside manner and compassion to go at my speed, and make sure I understand everything she is explaining.... always seemed honest with the percentage of successes at my age and optimistic for my success. ...I never felt judged by her, always supported by her and her staff.
The clinic itself is absolutely gorgeous. It overlooks times square, its spotless and just state of the art. I was one of their first patients in June 2016 when they had just opened. I felt a few of the nuances going on but it never impacted my treatment. Most recently I found out about services from outside insurance for services/treatment that I had not known I was covered for. The billing dept is being very diligent is seeing for some retroactive funds which I am very appreciate of. I would highly recommend CCRM to anyone TTC.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Excellent mannerisms, articulate communication and explanations. Having not much knowledge of my options when I began this process, Dr. Choi was able to specifically list all of the ways I had (medically, financially, etc) to have a child. She always seemed honest with the percentage of successes at my age and optimistic for my success. She honored my resistance to trying IVF and also allowed for the information to sit with me should I change my mind. I never felt judged by her, always supported by her and her staff.

She [Dr. Choi] was by far the most knowledgeable, realistic, and caring. I truly believe that if anyone can make this happen for us it would be her. Due to unexplained egg quality issues we've had some ups and downs along the way. Her experience and expertise always put me at ease. She is a great communicator and you can be sure that she's putting the most effort and thought into your case. She always called us to explain results and options, even off hours. With a difficult case, I still was able to become pregnant from the single embryo transfer we were able to have and I give full credit to her.
This clinic [CCRM-NY] is cutting edge, and everything happens on site: retrievals, scans, etc. It's never crowded, there's no cattle call monitoring. This place is luxurious compared to a lot of the other big clinics in NY. Their billing is also very straightforward and stress free, which is all you can hope for when spending boatloads of money!... The nursing staff is the friendliest I've experienced between 2 different clinics. They are easy to get a hold of which is SO important!

Dr. Choi while very knowledgeable and often serious, really did seem to care about us and the outcome of our treatment.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
I had 2 retrievals and one failed transfer (the only embryo didn't thaw!) at a different clinic. Dr Choi used a slightly different protocol than my previous retrievals in order to mature the eggs at a more consistent rate and it did seem to provide better results. We had 3 of 13 fertilize with ICSI and one ended up making it to freeze. Which is better than the results I had two previous times, one of which 11 were retrieved and NONE fertilized with ICSI. My case is very difficult, and the fact that she was able to get better results the first try says a lot. CCRM is also a bit more cutting edge with their supplement program which I do believe fosters better results.

She [Dr. Janet Choi] sent us for an immunological workup on a hunch and it was due to the addition of those treatments that we had successful pregnancies. I always felt that I could trust her and that she had our best interests at heart. She made us fell like she would fight her hardest to make sure we had a baby...was very compassionate with us and encouraged us to continue with treatments when we were in doubt.
She [Dr. Janet Choi at Columbia University] worked with us to decide how many embryos to transfer. We all agreed on 2 each cycle... The front desk staff was very nice and the location of the office was convenient. The lobby could have used some redecorating but no other issues...Some [nurses] were less compassionate than others...She [Dr. Janet Choi] sent us for an immunological workup on a hunch and it was due to the addition of those treatments that we had successful pregnancies.

I always felt that I could trust her and that she had our best interests at heart. She made us fell like she would fight her hardest to make sure we had a baby.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at Columbia University?
Trust her. Ask lots of questions and be curious as to what she may be thinking. She can come up with some great ideas!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Janet Choi at Columbia University?
She really took an interest in our case and went over and beyond to help us conceive. She listened to our concerns and offered some out of the box solutions.
Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Dr Choi recommended starting off with IVF w/ PGS due to recurrent miscarriages. We had done 3 IUIs with another clinic and she was sure that we needed to move on to IVF. I can't remember the exact protocols, but know that she adjusted the meds for all three IVF cycles based on my reactions. She also referred us to a reproductive immunologist after the 2nd IVFw/PGS failed, on a hunch that there may be something there. She was right and our third IVFw/PGS was a success.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Some were less compassionate than others.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
We chose Columbia because they took our insurance. Our previous Dr recommended Dr Choi. The front desk staff was very nice and the location of the office was convenient. The lobby could have used some redecorating but no other issues.
Describe Janet Choi's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
She worked with us to decide how many embryos to transfer. We all agreed on 2 each cycle.

Dr. Choi treated me like an adult who understood what was happening, kept me candidly appraised of what was going on, and personally checked in with me repeatedly before and after appointments...was honest, smart, compassionate and gentle. I felt like I had a say in every step of my treatment and every aspect of decision making. Her knowledge was unparalleled and her quiet confidence gave me confidence in the success of my treatment.
8 eggs retrieved, 6 fertilized and none made it to day 5 [at CCRM New York]. The next round we did a full dose lupron plus follistim, and no clomid or lupron at the trigger. That wound resulted in 6 eggs retrieved, 4 embryos and all were genetically normal...Multiple nurses treated me but it was a small staff so everyone knew me. They were extremely responsive, especially via the portal...They do not accept insurance, out of pocket was approximately 15k.

Describe the protocols Janet Choi used in your cycles at CCRM New York and their degree of success.
We first tried a protocol with clomid, ganirelex and follistim, as well as doxycycline and prednisone, and a lupron plus HCG trigger. Brand new facility, ultra clean and comfortable. Compared to Yale, which was a total dump, this facility was cutting edge. The actual surgical room is in the facility, and was clean and comfortable with great amenities. The equipment was also top notch.

Dr. Choi was wonderful. She was able to discover what was preventing me from getting pregnant--something that no one had previously been able to do. She was warm and caring and I felt that she was really paying attention throughout the treatment.... I had gone to two previous doctors (and 5 previous embryo transfers of genetically normal embryos) and no one was able to find out what was wrong. At first she thought that I might have endometriosis and had me take a test that was relatively new to find out (I forget the name of it though). When that came back negative, she had me do an ERA test and we discovered that I might benefit from switching the protocol for progesterone and embryo transfer.
[CCRM NY is] Wonderful personalized care in a beautiful setting. I had been to other clinics where for monitoring you show up and have to wait in line--here you are given an appointment. I also loved that they allowed husbands to be present for embryo transfer.... Dr. Choi is excellent. I have done multiple IVF cycles with her, and after each cycle, she adjusts the protocol for the next one based on what she learned from the previous cycle.... She is very frank in her approach, but also very compassionate. She is always available when needed to explain anything, and never rushes through a phone call or conversation....She is highly cerebral in her approach, but also incredibly compassionate.
The staff at CCRM are highly professional and very well organized. Given it's a smaller clinic, they know your name when you arrive for an appointment.... I can't speak highly enough of CCRM. The doctors are knowledgeable and caring, the nurses are professional, the embryologists are available to speak with, and the office feels like a spa. Their approach is state of the art, and I have felt it - my recovery from procedures at CCRM have been short and painless compared to the ones at the previous clinic I attended.
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi is excellent. I have done multiple IVF cycles with her, and after each cycle, she adjusts the protocol for the next one based on what she learned from the previous cycle. Surprisingly, my other doctor at a previous clinic never did this. She is very frank in her approach, but also very compassionate. She is always available when needed to explain anything, and never rushes through a phone call or conversation.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi tells it like it is. She is not one to sugarcoat information, but she also spends time to explain what happened, and what she would do differently having learned from the previous cycle.

Dr. Choi is amazing. Her medical knowledge is very in-depth and current. Her demeanor, despite the pressure of her stressful days, always pleasant. I was her patient for several years and I always felt well cared for, listened to and kept informed. No ball dropped ever. She was always aware of every detail of my current cycle....Trust her wholeheartedly, she is the best guide you can hope for given the circumstances. She is the rare medical professional that offers in-depth theoretical knowledge, unmatched practical experience honed through years of work at extremely busy practices and a deeply empathetic nature.
This is a very very busy practice (Columbia) but all the staff is top notch. Nurses are compassionate, very organized and always got back to me within the promised timeframe.... if you need a lot of coddling and warm hugs you may feel a bit disappointed. However, this is a clinic that has very good success rates including difficult cases, advanced maternal age etc. They do not just treat the easier patients that bring up the ratings. The physicians of the staff are very smart, experienced, knowledgeable, courteous.

Dr Choi was head and shoulders above the other [doctor]. She treats every patient as a unique individual case to be treated. Nothing is cookie cutter with her. She keeps up with all the latest research and is happy to impart that knowledge.... Choi took great care to develop a protocol that worked for my body. We did 3 retrievals and froze all blasts for genetic testing. We transferred 2 of 3 embryos and are pregnant with twins.
Quality of care in exceptional [at CCRM NY]. Their internal billing is great but the external tests come with an inundation of paperwork. That is one thing that could be changed. Dr. Choi made very basic recommendations for my case and did not conduct a particularly thorough analysis of my fertility situation from the beginning. For example, she never raised the possibility of endometriosis or blood clotting issues, two conditions my next doctor diagnosed very early on...We had 2 failed clinics/IUI cycles with Dr. Choi. I spoke with her after one of them. I was very upset and anxious about our fertility journey in general. She was rather cold and basically told me not to get so upset when the chances of an IUI cycle failing were rather low anyway.
Upon checking at the center [at Columbia], I was given a buzzer like the kind you get when you are waiting for a table at a restaurant. Then I would get buzzed to billing, buzzed to bloodwork, buzzed to ultrasound, etc. I saw a different doctor ever time I went for monitoring. They generally stayed for 2-3 minutes before moving on, even setting a timer in some cases. I felt rushed to ask any questions before they left.

How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Her delivery of difficult news was done with the perfect balance of professionalism and compassion. I have been to a number of OB/GYNs and none have ever come close to her level of care. It can be challenging to figure out which fertility practice, to commit to, it is expensive and emotionally draining. I remember googling each practice and the academic backgrounds of each physician and feeling lost. CCRM and Dr. Choi was absolutely the right choice and am so grateful we switched to their practice.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Your search for the right physician who is both kind and knowledge will end here. You will be treated with the patience and respect you need while going through this vulnerable time.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr Choi takes the time to listen and really understand the unique situation each patient is going through. If something doesn’t work, she is relentless if finding the next thing to try. It never feels routine with her.... We’ve had an amazing experience with Dr Choi. She’s caring, thoughtful, and incredibly smart and motivated, at the forefront of research in the field. We trust her completely and truly feel she is the best partner for our journey.
They are very research focused, willing to try the best approach for each patient. They’re also incredibly organized and everyone there is compassionate. I’ve never felt like a number with anyone, from the front desk to the doctors. I can’t recommend CCRM highly enough.... They are incredibly organized and compassionate. We love working with them to figure out what’s next. They’ve also been incredible about problem solving when life situations (eg travel) might interfere with treatment.

Dr Choi truly cares about her patients. She spent an hour and a half with me answering questions the first time we met, and didn’t hesitate to call me on Saturday or Sunday if there were results she knew I really wanted to hear. She went above and beyond, was kind, patient, and incredible. ... Dr. Choi is brilliant, a fantastic problem solver, and truly cares about her patients.
This clinic [CCRM New York] is cutting edge in their approaches, clearly keeps up with current research practices and doesn’t just recommend the same old stuff that everywhere else does, and pivots when they need to ... The nurses were fine, they seemed a little busy. Not as amazing as the doctors ... This clinic was out of network for insurance, so cost significantly more than the clinic I was at previously. It was worth every penny
How was your experience with Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
Dr. Choi is brilliant, a fantastic problem solver, and truly cares about her patients. She is the best doctor I’ve ever had. She gives you the facts with data to back them up, but also cares on a human level about the outcome.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Janet Choi at CCRM New York?
You are lucky to have found her! She is not always warm and fuzzy in every conversation because she’s so busy, but when it counts it is clear that she cares. And the second anything goes wrong she will make sure to be there for you and is always available

I felt like I was talking to an old friend when I first went in to meet Janet [Choi]. I had been through this twice before and she could tell I didn’t need to go through every thing step by step again. It was a fantastic experience...Janet was straightforward, realistic but warm at the same time. I have already recommended two friends to her. She took the time to explain everything to me, even though I was running 15 minutes behind for my first appointment. She was very easy to talk to and made me feel empowered. Highly recommended!
[CCRM NY] Very clean, centrally located, easy to get to from the subway. The Office itself is comfortable and the waiting room is not overcrowded. Overall, it was a very easy check in and check out process. They were very accommodating even though I was late to my appointment! I felt comfortable inside....The nurses helped me SO much throughout my time with them and throughout the process. I had a ton of questions and they were always getting back to me right away!

Do not go anywhere else. Dr. Choi is the best...Dr. Choi treated me with the utmost compassion and respect. I have never found a doctor that listened to me like Dr. Choi. She would go above and beyond to make me feel at ease... From answering my incessant emails to calling back in a timely manner if I had a question...nothing was too small...Seeing her smiling face during high stress visits and her kind reassuring words that we would figure my infertility challenges out together, I never felt alone and I always felt fully supported.
Liz, Jamie and Hunter are fantastic [nurses at CCRM]...Questions and instructions are always clearly communicated...CCRM does not take insurance but billing will do everything to make things easier on you...Strengths: Best doctors in the industry. Beautiful, relaxing office. Messages always relayed to the doctors. Support staff, nurses, embryologists are all great.
