I didn't feel like my concerns were being addressed...I didn't have a good experience with him [Dr. McKeeby]. I felt I was just another candidate for failure due to my advanced age. I was not a good responder for the high hormone doses and I asked for a low hormone protocol that worked once but didn't result in a pregnancy, he ignored my request and kept doing the high hormone dose that didn't even result in 1 viable embryo. Very frustrating since this treatment costs a lot of money....
Overall the other staff [Shady Grove Fertility] is very helpful and nice. Cuddos for the girls that draw blood. I like the convenience of the clinic and that they are open 7 days a week ( sometimes going to different locations for the retrieval) The experience didn't feel personal...There is a patient portal that results were supposed to be uploaded there, but my results were not uploaded until I requested and not all of the results....

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Go with your gut, if you don't like the protocol from start say something and if nothing is done to address it, change Drs.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
I didn't feel like my concerns were being addressed. He kept trying a protocol that clearly did not work for me.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Most of them are really nice. There was an instance that I had a chemical pregnancy and I didn't know about it, but complained about pain on the left side and they said it was normal. Only when I insisted that the pain wouldn't go away they checked with ultra sound and found out it was a chemical pregnancy and I need to be sent to the hospital right away. That was another very bad experience for me.

Dr McKeeby is a straight shooter and will not waste your time...I felt that my treatment plan was determined as soon as I walked through the door due to my having a history of uterine fibroids. I never felt any concern after expressing my fears of not exploring any other options besides IVF because there were several others offered at the facility.
My only complaint [for SGF] was the poor telephone communication. I could never speak to my nurse, it took months for me to find out how much the proposed procedures would actually cost. I suggest writing any questions that you have down and taking them with you on your next visit...ask them face to face...Roughly $500 for tests not covered by insurance.
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Dr McKeeby is a straight shooter and will not waste your time. He is very knowledgeable and direct but at times it comes off as you are an annoyance or that he lacks compassion. I think that because he has years of experience and has had success in treatment plans that when you walk through the door give your age, he glances over whatever you give him regarding your medical he has determined the course of action for you prior to testing. In some cases that’s great, but in mine not so great.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Be tough, he does not mince words or facial expressions when he talks to you.

I had multiple rounds of preliminary testing for chromosomal issues, hsgs, but I never actually had the Chance procedure done.

My assigned nurse never returned phone calls, or communicated with me. I was helped by other staff members who were very helpful to me.

Very clean clinic with short wait times...it’s like a well oiled machine in that aspect. My only complaint was the poor telephone communication. Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Roughly $500 for tests not covered by insurance. I couldn’t afford IVF at the time but that was roughly 10,000 per cycle.

We saw Dr. McKeeby after our first failed cycle at another clinic. We were heartbroken, financially struggling and still, we clung to hope. He sat with us for over an hour during our first initial consult. He went thru every page (400 pages) of our medical records from our previous facility. When we tried to transfer our eggs from the other facility to Shady Groves lab, he called me personally to tell me the bad news. The old RE did not freeze our eggs appropriately and they would not be viable for thaw. He gave us devastating news, but he was calm and precise about his reasons. I respect him due to his honesty and compassion.
They [nurses at Shady Grove Fertility] take the time to talk to us and explain each question or concern that we have...The benefits/strengths include the cleanliness of all of their facilities, their friendly staff (from the front desk, to the lab technicians, to the nurses and physicians) and the way they make you feel welcome and less like a number...The only thing that went wrong was the clinic scheduled my appointment for the Annapolis location and I was suppose to be at the Salisbury location. It has bumped our appointment almost 30 days back, but it was a small mistake with no consequences.

Ask a ton of questions, because he will absolutely take the time to answer them. When you leave all of your medical questions are answered completely, and you understand the treatment plans ahead.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Dr. McKeeby was the second RE that we saw. His team (Urologist Dr. Tanikarut) has been phenomenal. We were really let down by our first RE and had lost most hope to being parents. Dr. McKeeby is in the midst of making a plan for our future IVF cycles. He is honest and realistic and for that I am thankful. I am a nurse, and I know a lot more than the average patient. He doesn't make me feel like my questions and concerns are a bother, he takes the time to answer them completely.

We have not done a cycle with Dr. McKeeby yet, my husband is still on the medications to boost his count and raise his testosterone.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA. (Assigned nurse: Beth )
We are still new in the process at this clinic, but from our past experience they have been great. Our previous facility never knew us (even if we were there the day prior, they would forget why we were there (male factor), did not call to follow up post egg retrieval). We aren't just a number to them. They take the time to talk to us and explain each question or concern that we have.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
The only thing that is hard about our clinic is the drive. It is a two hour drive to get to the clinic with cryopreservation, but we do not mind because we really like the clinic and staff. The benefits/strengths include the cleanliness of all of their facilities, their friendly staff (from the front desk, to the lab technicians, to the nurses and physicians) and the way they make you feel welcome and less like a number.

During appointments, Dr. McKeeby takes plenty of time to explain the diagnosis and the recommended treatment plan. He never makes you feel rushed and always answers all of our questions. He has offered to meet with us beyond our “normal” follow up appointments (if we needed) and has squeezed us in multiple times to keep the process moving forward. When we see him at the office during monitoring appointments he always acknowledges us and often comes to say hi and see how everything is going.
Overall it’s been a pretty positive experience with Shady Grove Annapolis. The front desk staff are always friendly and organized, and scheduled appointments with physicians are (mostly) on schedule. The wait times for monitoring appointments can vary anywhere from 15-45 minutes before being seen). I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment and the staff has always been accommodating when they could be. By far the worst part of the process so far has been the financial aspect as the Annapolis office doesn’t have a financial coordinator on site.
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Dr. McKeeby displays a great deal of experience and knowledge. He thoroughly answers all questions and provides examples (and drawings!) to make sure we understand and feel comfortable. Early on in our treatment, Dr. McKeeby built a more personal relationship with us and tried to relate to us about things we had in common, which was helpful in building an overall positive rapport. We’ve had ups and downs so far in our treatment, and Dr. McKeeby has had to communicate difficult or disappointing news to us on multiple occasions. Although sometimes he can be very blunt/direct, he recognizes when we need him to communicate information differently and he will re-state his point. After a difficult first cycle which didn’t end the way we had hoped, he was positive/reassuring and recommended a change in protocol to try and refine the results and increase our chances of success. While it’s too early to say how things will end, we trust his opinion and are very satisfied with our interactions with Dr. McKeeby to this point.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Not so much related to Dr. McKeeby but more the process - don’t be afraid to ask questions, be your own advocate, and be clear about your wishes and concerns.

Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA and their degree of success.
The first IVF cycle we did was a “standard” protocol - baseline bloodwork and birth control for 2-3 weeks, begin injections of stimulating hormones and attend routine monitoring appointments (bloodwork and ultrasound). Trigger shot of HcG and a scheduled egg retrieval 36 hours later. Although we achieved pretty good results with a decent number of eggs retrieved, we did not have any embryos to transfer this cycle. Dr. McKeeby explained that we’ll change up the protocol for the next cycle in the hopes that we have a more efficient stimulation synchronizing follicle growth and hopefully resulting in more (and better quality) eggs retrieved. Additionally, after the first IVF cycle Dr. McKeeby referred us to another Shady Grove physician to gather some additional information about the male component and to make sure we’re taking the best approach for our situation.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Shady Grove Fertility BMA. (Assigned nurse: Elizabeth Bazel)
Beth is amazing - she is organized, responsive, compassionate, knowledgeable, and she truly goes above and beyond! She has made us feel cared for and supported throughout the process. We were initially assigned to a different nurse but requested to change to a new nurse very early on in the process due to a disconnect in communication styles and expectations.

I’ve never had a problem getting an appointment and the staff has always been accommodating when they could be. By far the worst part of the process so far has been the financial aspect as the Annapolis office doesn’t have a financial coordinator on site. You spend a lot of time playing phone tag and trying to reach the single financial coordinator assigned to patients in Annapolis, Towson, and Rockville. When you are able to get through they almost never have the answers to your questions and almost always need to get back to you.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Our health insurance covered some of the diagnostic testing and appointments but doesn’t cover anything for infertility, so we are 100% self pay for procedures, medication, and all other related expenses/costs.
Describe Jeffrey McKeeby's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
For our situation, Dr. McKeeby was not supportive of multiple embryo transfer (I asked!), but he did explain the reasons why and we feel comfortable with that decision.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
The first nurse we were assigned to failed to schedule the correct bloodwork/prepare the correct order in the system. It ultimately wasn’t an issue because the phlebotomist caught the error and corrected it immediately.

He has been very proactive and has never suggested that we try the same plan twice - if it doesn't work the first time, he makes changes or suggests something new entirely.
The Annapolis office [Shady Grove] is very welcoming. The front desk staff have learned my name and always greet me when I come in for an appointment. The wait time for monitoring is usually reasonable, but can sometimes be 30+ minutes past your appointment time if the clinic is very busy. The phlebotomists are very friendly and talkative. The ultrasound techs do a great job of explaining what they see on the ultrasound, and always offer to refer you to the monitoring nurse if you more questions than they can answer
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Dr. McKeeby has a bit of a unique personality. He was very welcoming when my husband and I attended our consultation in March of 2018. We felt that he took a detailed history, asked a lot of questions about our desires/goals, and allowed us to have input on what treatment would like. Dr. McKeeby is very knowledgeable about the science aspect of treatment and was able to explain our treatment options in detail. He was able to provide us to with statistics for success and gave us a recommendation, based on what was our best chance statistically. He also took into consideration our insurance and financial situation. We have, unfortunately, experienced a lot of unanticipated setbacks throughout treatment. We have had several FET cycles cancelled, for various reasons, but Dr. McKeeby has always been extremely compassionate in breaking the bad news to us - He always explains why the cancellation is necessary, and is always ready with a new plan. He has been very proactive and has never suggested that we try the same plan twice - if it doesn't work the first time, he makes changes or suggests something new entirely. Although we have not had success yet, I have been extremely satisfied with Dr. McKeeby and his management of our treatment.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Dr. McKeeby has been extremely compassionate during our fertility treatment. He has been readily available to meet with me, unexpectedly, when issues have arose during monitoring appointments. When my fresh transfer was cancelled due to OHSS, Dr. McKeeby called me personally to provide an update on our embryos. He always says "hi" when he sees me at the clinic for monitoring appointments, and treats me as an individual at follow-up appointments.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA and their degree of success.
For our IVF retrieval cycle we used Gonal-F 150IU, Menopur 75IU (increased to 150IU on stim day 7), Ganirelix, and a Lupron trigger. We used this protocol, which is pretty standard and low-dose, because our diagnosis is MFI and Dr. McKeeby did not anticipate any issue with follicle growth. For our 1st FET cycle we used oral Estrace 2mg, taken three times daily. Vaginal Estrace was added, due to thin lining - this cycle was cancelled. For our 2nd FET cycle we used a stimulated FET protocol, with Gonal-F 150IU and Ganirelix to prevent ovulation. This protocol was chosen due to prior difficulty with uterine lining - cycle was cancelled due to high follicle count. For our 3rd FET cycle we used Delestrogen .2 ML, every other day - cycle was cancelled due to ovulation. For our 4th FET cycle we used Delestrogren .2 ML, every other day and Estrace 2mg vaginally, twice daily - this cycle resulted in pregnancy, but pregnancy was not viable. For our 5th FET cycle we used the same protocol as the previous cycle, but lining did not respond the same and cycle was cancelled. Four our 6th FET we are using another stimulated FET protocol with Menopur 112 IU - this cycle is in process.

Jackie has been extremely helpful throughout this process. She always returns my phone calls within the guidelines stated on her voicemail, and is very responsive to questions/concerns. She calls promptly with updates from monitoring appointments and answers all questions. She is obviously very knowledgeable. She has called to check-in when we have gone through difficult times.

Describe Jeffrey McKeeby's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Dr. McKeeby has recommended an eSET, due to our ages and quality of our embryos. We are agreeable.

Strengths - good communication, optimistic, explains things in easy to understand terms, easy to get in contact with, compassionate Weaknesses - not fully understanding how adenomyosis affects fertility, however it is still an area where most RE's are not fully versed...He is kind and will clearly explain your protocol and all procedures. Dr. McKeeby and his nurse, Ann, often call or email to check how I am doing on a cycle or after a cycle. They are responsive to calls and e-mails. They know me when I come in the office and seem to genuinely care. The staff that does blood work and ultrasounds are the same.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA and their degree of success.
I have done 5 retrievals and 2 FETs with while under his care. The protocols for retrievals have been varied and were adjusted with my last retrieval producing the most eggs. He is very careful when he adjusts and always calls and explains the why. For FETs he has tried 2 different protocols. My most recent was 6 months of down-regulation. It resulted in a pregnancy but early miscarriage, most likely due to diffuse adenomyosis.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Cattle call! As a teacher who had to be to work by a certain time, I would often need to show up at 6:45 just to guarantee I was among the first few patients seen when monitoring started at 7:30 even though I have had appointments.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
My insurance covers most of the retrieval process. I cover $600 and then cost to PGS test and freeze. They cover transfer up to 3 for live birth. My medicines are covered except for a co-pay.
Describe Jeffrey McKeeby's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Dr. McKeeby has always recommended one embryo due to my age as well as the PGS tested quality of the embryo being transferred. I do not believe transferring multiple would have had a different outcome so I trust him with this decision.

I am still annoyed that I wasn't allowed to try even 1 cycle with my own eggs--maybe because people with DOR don't typically get pregnant as easily as I did...Dr. McKeeby could only say "well, something else must have gone wrong" and looked at my #s and just said, "you need to do donor egg." There was no further discussion about any other possible solution. I just felt like they were trying to sell me something that I didn't want and left for a 2nd opinion at another clinic.
If you don't like him [Dr Jeffrey McKeeby] , just move on to Mottla. It was night and day...SG is a very organized clinic, compared to the other one I went to. It's pretty, clean, relaxing, maybe because it is a for-profit organization. I felt known and the people were very friendly....Jackie was my first nurse at SG. I almost didn't want to change docs bc I was so attached to her.
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
I had a co-worker who had a rare uterine condition and he treated her for the 3 cycles that both of our insurances would have paid for. She really liked him and just described him as being "dorky". At a donor recipient support group, I also met another woman who also left SG because of McKeeby... so maybe he works for some people, but as I said, I ultimately left for a 2nd opinion at Johns Hopkins bc of this doctor. It took 4-5 months to see that doc and my numbers got way worse during that time period. I am still annoyed that I wasn't allowed to try even 1 cycle with my own eggs--maybe because people with DOR don't typically get pregnant as easily as I did.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
If you don't like him, just move on to Mottla. It was night and day. Also, the fertility world is filled with all sorts of natural remedies that could "possibly work for you". This made me into an obsessed person who was trying to make the perfect egg of my own. That wasn't to be, at least this time around. Even Mottla said that miracle babies do exist, but we needed at least to get a jump start on baby #1, given our ages (now 41 and 45, due in 2 weeks with our DE baby on first cycle).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Miscarriage #3 was my first baby with a heartbeat that we knew of. At 12w, I found out that the chromosomally-normal M had passed away at 10w. Dr. McKeeby could only say "well, something else must have gone wrong" and looked at my #s and just said, "you need to do donor egg." There was no further discussion about any other possible solution. I just felt like they were trying to sell me something that I didn't want and left for a 2nd opinion at another clinic.
Describe the protocols Jeffrey McKeeby used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility BMA and their degree of success.
Never got that far with him. Was so thrown by his only saying to use a DE.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Jackie was my first nurse at SG. I almost didn't want to change docs bc I was so attached to her. She was fantastic at answering calls and all my questions, including about how to improve egg quality. SG is not "alternative" sort of clinic in terms of using/recommending supplements, etc. which may be both good and bad, depending on what sort of person you are.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
SG is a very organized clinic, compared to the other one I went to. It's pretty, clean, relaxing, maybe because it is a for-profit organization. I felt known and the people were very friendly.

We met with him for our initial consultation and after that we essentially never saw him again during treatment....He [Dr. McKeeby] seems like a nice guy, but there was never any real follow up or interest in my case. He arrived to an appointment unprepared and clearly didn’t review my test results... as they were incomplete and required a follow up exam...Dr. McKeeby was supposed to follow up with me after our final meeting regarding the next steps and he never did...
They’d say they’d call and then they [Shady Grove Salisbury] wouldn’t. They’d forget to relay test results. Ordering medication was a nightmare thanks to no help on their part. The nurses/staff don’t seem to really make a connection with the patients because it’s always a different nurse calling with results, or communicating the doctor’s orders....Provided medication charts were halfway completed, failed to be informed of exam results... which ultimately delayed starting treatment, issues with prescriptions being called in
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
He seems like a nice guy, but there was never any real follow up or interest in my case. He arrived to an appointment unprepared and clearly didn’t review my test results... as they were incomplete and required a follow up exam. This somehow slipped through the cracks (one of many times overall with this clinic). I’m still trying to figure out if this was the fault of Dr. Mckeeby, the nurses or the clinic’s organization. Either way, it’s super disappointing. Finally, Dr. McKeeby was supposed to follow up with me after our final meeting regarding the next steps and he never did...
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
We met with him for our initial consultation and after that we essentially never saw him again during treatment. During that time, I can 100% say he wouldn’t recognize me as a patient if he saw me in the waiting room.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
They’d say they’d call and then they wouldn’t. They’d forget to relay test results. Ordering medication was a nightmare thanks to no help on their part. The nurses/staff don’t seem to really make a connection with the patients because it’s always a different nurse calling with results, or communicating the doctor’s orders. We are all just numbers.
Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
I was so hopeful that SGF would help my husband and I. Words can’t explain how disappointed I am with their organization as a whole. If I would have gotten pregnant right away I’d be happy because a) I wouldn’t have experienced the many weaknesses of their organization after treating there for a year, and b) I’d have a baby. This clinic is for women who get pregnent within two cycles. Anything more than that, you’ll learn that you’re just a number. The only reason I stayed for so long is because I was desperate and there a few other choices in the area.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Insurance covered most costs.
What specific things went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to order appropriate test
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
  • Failed to consider drug intolerance
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
Annapolis office - Provided medication charts were halfway completed, failed to be informed of exam results... which ultimately delayed starting treatment, issues with prescriptions being called in or lack thereof, was told by Nursing staff it wasn’t worth doing insurance appeal against doctor’s advice, getting in touch with nurses was difficult, lack of empathy from staff, lack of communication, etc, etc.

He has a pleasant personality but as far as feeling like an important patient we felt like just another couple. We had and still have many unanswered questions and no baby. My protocol was wrong for me and never adjusted...My protocol remained the same as anyone else’s even though I was showing clear signs of hyper stimulation. Despite my questions I was shook off and told to continue as prescribed
Customer service [at Shady Grove] is good...Billing needs to be easier to access and understand...Nurses and doctors need to listen up when a patient says something is wrong...It’s not a horrible place...Overall we all have the same end goal. We just need to get there together with more communication and a better understanding of what’s right for many isn’t always right for one...She [nurse] was very good about responding and answering questions.

He has a pleasant personality but as far as feeling like an important patient we felt like just another couple. We had and still have many unanswered questions and no baby. My protocol was wrong for me and never adjusted and had dangerous post retrieval consequences.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
Ask questions and remind him that you are a person who is very important to someone not just another face in a practice. If you feel that something is wrong press the issue until you are satisfied with the answer.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?
My protocol remained the same as anyone else’s even though I was showing clear signs of hyper stimulation. Despite my questions I was shook off and told to continue as prescribed As if my health and well being were less important than the money they were making. Sitting in the waiting room watching people come and go like a machine really set in how much money is involved in the process for each patient.

He’s amazing. He took the time to talk to us about all the risks of transferring more than one blast. He was kind but was straight to the point about everything. I Highly recommend him...I owe everything to Dr.McKeeby and his staff, they were all amazing and kind....He reassured me that my husband and I would get pregnant with the numbers we had...They’re all about building personal relationships with the patients during such a sensitive time. The made me feel loved and thoroughly cared for.
I loved them. The iui portion made me feel like cattle being pushed through but other than that Shady Grove is the best! Beth and McKeeby were a great time. The other staff and doctors were great and I got to know them, too. They’re all about building personal relationships with the patients during such a sensitive time. The made me feel loved and thoroughly cared for...She [RN] was amazing. She became a therapist during that time. She’s so sweet and caring.

Dr.McKeeby has a great sense of humor...very professional with amazing bed side manner that treats his patients with amazing care. He goes out of his way to answer questions and made sure my husband and I were comfortable...I was diagnosed with PCOS and we started with doing clomid, injectables and IUIs but eventually conceived on our second round of IVF. He advocated for IVF since I was successfully pregnant on our first IUI but had a miscarriage.
Stacy [nurse at Shady Grove] was amazing, I could call and speak with her whenever I needed. She kept me organized because there is a lot of information and kept me in the loop...Monitoring appointments were set for specific times in morning everyday...This clinic has so much compassion for the patients. They felt like family and always made sure to be understanding. The office is very nice and clean, comfortable and uplifting environment
How was your experience with Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA?

[Dr. Jeffrey McKeeby] had a strong preference on elective single embryo transfer and did not explain in detail why...Sometimes I felt rushed and didn't completely understand his explanations...Our visits were only 10-15 minutes that felt rushed. He was not very compassionate or caring about our diagnosis and how that effected us. He did not care to ask what we wanted or how we felt. Always confused leaving his office, never confident in the plan he had chosen for us.
[The nurse at Shady Grove Fertility was] Caring, very helpful but always felt like she was too busy for me...The billing department is always behind. The front desk ladies are always very nice and helpful. The phlebotomists in the office are always wonderful, I never have any problems getting blood and its always painless!! The sonogram techs are very comforting and helpful...My doctor had a strong preference on elective single embryo transfer and did not explain in detail why.

He [Dr. Jeffrey McKeeby] never treated me like a number, when I suffered losses he was also very upset by what was happening. He always explained what was happening or what the treatment was and walked me through everything...never left me feeling alone in the entire process, he was there for me the entire time. He was easy to talk to, held my hand when it needed to be held and told me to just do it when I needed that blunt attitude. If it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have our daughter.
Due to a genetic disorder we had to do IVF [at Shady Grove Fertility]. After my second loss we did an ERA to see if I needed more time on POI, which I did. Everything was always explained in detail...Whenever I needed anything Jackie [nurse] was there, she helped me through some of the toughest times in my life...We did shared risk at the cost of $26,000...everyone there showed the utmost compassion from the moment that we walked in the door to the day that we were discharged at 9 weeks pregnant. When I did have to call the on call nurses there were times that I felt like another number and that made me sad because I always had the best responses from the Annapolis clinic.

He [Dr. Jeffrey McKeeby] spent a lot of time talking to me and even went over on time on an appointment when I showed up late...even draws pictures upside down from across his desk so we could see anatomically where the numbers were coming from and he gave up detailed information about the hormone levels...We tried IUI and get 4 follicles and a high sperm count, the office told us it was excellent but we still didn't get pregnant.
I think that the financial piece of the puzzle which was a huge factor of the treatment plan should be clearly explained [by Shady Grove Fertility] when the treatment options are given. You are only allowed to have one treatment plan even though you discuss multiple options with the doctor, this results in numerous phone calls to the financial consultant to discuss your options and if you try to combine plans like taking eggs out for IVF and you want to also freeze some of those eggs they will not let you.

Describe your experience with Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
I think that the financial piece of the puzzle which was a huge factor of the treatment plan should be clearly explained when the treatment options are given. You are only allowed to have one treatment plan even though you discuss multiple options with the doctor, this results in numerous phone calls to the financial consultant to discuss your options and if you try to combine plans like taking eggs out for IVF and you want to also freeze some of those eggs they will not let you.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeffrey McKeeby at Shady Grove Fertility BMA.
My insurance does not cover any fertility treatment, so everything was out of pocket.
